There are 4 tests. 1st,2nd, and 3rd are pretty easy; however, final is complicated. If you study hard, it is easy to get an A.
his class is easy if you are good at math, but he is so hard to understand! if you dont understand something, he acts like you should already know it! half the class dropped after 2 classes!
Yes he is hard to understand, but the language barrier can be overcome. I found it difficult at first, but after I actually did the modules and started paying attention in class, it was easy. We can use our notes! How hard is that?
This guy is a terrible teacher. He is hard to understand and unapproachable. He didn't show up to class one day and his excuse was simply that he forgot. The homework he assigns is useless and he nevver explains anything.
Hard subject, so do all the homework and especially the modules if you plan on passing. He goes very fast and doesn't have time to spend on really helping you understand it. This is no fault of the teacher this is how the course is setup.
He is a very freindly instructor but I found myself teaching myself the material because he had not covered it properly or at all. The modules aren't required but if you don't do them understanding the class is more difficult.
This is the absolute worst teacher I have ever had in my college career! He's unhelpful, rude, and very unclear. I spent at least an hour a night coming up with my own notes. He's tests don't reflect class work done or what was in the book.

open notes on test and final. 10% of test is take home. 50 extra credit points avail. no homework. Class notes avail on web. Do modules and you will pass.
his class is soooo easy, gave us sumple test,a little homework. he is strict attendance. he is very nice, go his office, he will help you
Although I carry a 3.6 GPA, I still had problems with this class and pulled my second C. He does allow notes, but notes without the proper background do little to help. I went in to see him and found him to be very unhelpful. Avoid if at all possible

Those of you that say he is easy may have already taken this course or you are simply a math genius but for the rest fo us who need to work on it...he is no help at all! If you have a question that he thinks he has covered properly you will get no answer

Mr.Chow is a nice guy, yet his teaching is not the best. He is hard to understand. Tests are open book/notes besides the first one. If you study and take good notes yourself (out of the book) you might have a chance of passing the class.
ok, so his accent sucks, and he's not very clear, but he really makes it easy, definately take this course if you want ot put forth little to no effort in a stat class and still pass, your grade is made up completely of tests that are open book/note
Mr. Chow is too well versed in this subject to "dumb it down" to student level. Try ANY other instructor first because there weren't many survivors.
This teacher does not know what he is doing. He is not good at explaining anything. He gets toungue tied. He only grades you on the tests, which are not close to the problems we do in class. More than half teh class fails or drops.

Bob Chow is horrible. He doesn't care about his students and doesn't even know their names. He has a bad attitude and goes way too fast. Grades are completely based on tests and he doesn't give any partial credit. I hated his class.

I thought that his algebra class moved slow, but that made it very easy. Also he doesn't really care about attendance so as long as you come fridays to take the quizzes and test then you should be ok. Also the algebra class is not open note or open book
Worst teacher i may ever have had. Did not teach the material at all, will not answer any questions regarding the material. Forced to drop the class after I got the class average of 15% on the last mid-term. NOt possible to get higher than "C".

Teacher was a nice guy. His first test was easy but the others were dificult. My advice is to copy and understand every problem he does in class. Test problems are a lot like these. I ended up with an A without reading most of the book.
Very hard Class. I worked my but off to get a "C". The class started with 50 people but only 5 passed it. I studied like crazy and would probably get a B or A with another teacher, but with Mr. Chow is impossible to get something better than C.

This is absolutly the worst teacher I had. He droped me and told me that it was becuz I had an F, but we had only taken 1 test, we still has 3 more, and he dropes the lowest test and replaces it w/ the highest. I still could have passed. Run, Run fast

This man should not be a teacher. He has a hard time speaking English and makes the work 10 times more confussing than it should be. If u have a hard time in Math dont waste your time with this guy!
Very nice teacher, not hard to pull your grade just attend class, get to use all of your notes and the book on tests, very easy just pay attention, he's really funny lauhgs at his own jokes.
I went back to school after being out for a while and was placed in this class. Mr. Chow helped me not only during class, when he answers all questions, but was also available during office hours. Very helpful.

Bob Chow is very under rated on this site. He does not bend the rules, but gives a big buffer in his grading. Very pleasant and funny guy, and makes class and content easy, if you pay attention to all lectures. Open book tests & quizes.
Chow is not as bad as some on this website make him seem. At times he gets a bit confusing in lecture, although if you do the homework and stick with him you will do fine. nice goofy guy.
Chow is a great teacher, if you pay attention during his lectures and do the Hw that was due every Friday. He's really approachable and understanding. I think he is really under-rated on this site. He was just so easy.

I don't reccomend taking his class. Only about 5-10% of my class passed. Lectures are really hard to follow. He gets frustrated when you ask questions too. Tests are pretty hard and he rarely gives partial credit. But he is a nice guy and he means well.
He should enroll in english as a seconde language before trying to this class. He is willing to help but you can not understand him well enough to comprehend him. I would rather stab myself before taking this class again.
This was a very hard class because of the tests, I thought they were tricky in ways they shouldn't be. However, Bob does a descent job of explaining the material at times his accent is hard to understand, but he is a nice guy. I don't recommend taking him
He is a little unclear but a good teacher. If you attend class and pay attention you should do well. He gives plenty of opportunity to recive a good grade.
Unless you're planning on repeating this class I highly recommend that you take another teacher. I recommend that you take Hilton. Trust me I know.

his statistics class is not easy but it is not hard if you have time to study. We had open book open note tests but you still had to know your stuff. If you can devote time to studying take him. I got an A.
His statitics course is difficult, but not impossible. In his lectures, he gets the concepts across effectively and if you really do the work, you'll do fine.
This guy is by far the worst teacher, I have had at Grossmont. He is nice, but he teaches way above his students and ends up making a simple lecture hard. Mnay people dropped his class, and I basically learned my stats from the tutors in the tutoring lab. That is sad in my opinion.

Chow down. Or down with Chow? I found Mr. Chow's teaching style extremely hard to follow. He seemed bothered by questions from students. It felt like we were all merely spectators in Bob Chow's math universe. Requires a lot of self-teaching. Spare yourself the difficulty.

The highest grade on 1 of his tests was a D and Mr Chow said it was our faults. He tends to get frustrated by questions and has no compassion at all. Do not take this Professor!!!!!!!!!

This instructor has the pre-concieved idea that everyone taking his class should already know the total subject matter, and has no clue that the reason people take the class is to learn the subjuct matter. Completely out of touch with his students. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES
He is a great teacher.Someone else said that the highest grade on one of the tests was a D, that is not true because I and others got a B or higher on all of the tests.He answers all questions as long as he hasn't answered them 9 times already.If you want to actually learn something,take his class.

Very confusing class, unclear teaching
I know 3 people who took his class and failed, then took Hayes and got A's. he doesn't explain WHY he's doing what he does, and the on-line homework is different than what he is trying to teach, so you end up lost. and once you're lost, you're lost for good. it's a waste of time and money.
The quizzes and tests are all open note, open book. The class is curved so an 81% is an A. But dont expect to get an A. The class is really hard, but he gives you the chance to do well. He is a really good guy, and we laughed a lot....but he is not the best teacher. Sorry bob

Bob made the class harder than it actually was. Test and quizzes are open notes and the homework corresponds to both. So if you do your homework correctly then the class is a breeze. Strongly recommend going to a tutor to make sure your work is correct before the test.

Stay away from this class! yes the quizzes are easy but the exams are nothing like the homework or quizzes and the class is curved to 81%A. Sounds good but you will end up failing even putting long hours during the homework. He is very hard to understand and it took me outside tutors to understand the material.

This guy is hard as hell for those who dont get math very well. Not only does he not slow down to answer your question its hard to understand what he says. You also have to do your homework and turn it in online. Cant re-sell your book back b/c you used the software :(
I took AP Stats in highschool, but failed the AP test so im takking stats now. This class is s0o0o hard!! its confusing, and its really hard to understand Chow. Ughh!

Class was extremely fast, didn't learn anything from him. There should be more time in the class to help everyone, as well as not rushing and making so many mistakes as a professor.He argued with students and put people down. Hard to understand what he is saying at times. His lectures get boring and hard to follow. You will learn everything yourself though the online homework. Study guides are very helpful. Just do the online work (fairly easy) and you'll do fine. Chow not great, but his class is not so bad.

Mr. Chow is a really friendly guy with a great personalilty, but he is kind of hard to understand. I don't have a problem with his class at all, but if you don't like paying attention or you don't like math, i don't recommend his class.

Gee...I took this guy in the early 80's and he's still here! It looks like his teaching style has not changed. This guy is very rigid. He will not ever give you one inch. It is good to know that I was not crazy after reading others comments. I would not recommend him especially for folks beginning undergraduate work.
He is so nice and definitely a good guy, but he's pretty hard to understand. The whole class homework and quizzes are online and everything is open book, which is a plus. Relatively difficult class, though.
You HAVE to buy the calculator!! I ignored what others said about him and I got my first D ever!!! He is a very nice guy, and does have a point about giving his students opportunities, but it’s not much help. He is super confusing. You basically need someone else to teach you the class because you can't understand him.

If you are terrible with even the slightest accents, then no. He is NOT difficult to understand and it wasn't hard. Open Note(He even writes the notes for you), Open Book, Like two or three paper homework, everything was done on the computer. This was the first math class I actually liked. I got an A and math never comes easy for me. Try one class.

Open book. Notes which he writes up for you just print them. All work and homework online. If you can't even understand what Khan(KingOfTheHill)or the Wongs(Futurama) say on those shows, Then you MIGHT have a problem. If you have a problem asking questions you can actually email him and he returns your email quickly. Took less than a day on some.
