he's definitely the best professor i have had here :)
taken 2 courses with him so far/my favorite professor/lots learned from lectures
Enough w/ the plaid! Very boring lectures!Unfair grading! Sleepless nights!!!!!!
Great guy that Bob guy. Funny and fair grader. Knows that we love plaid :Ăľ
what a fascinating guy! he is witty, and asks questions that stimulate! genius!
Very entertaining and fun, intelligent.
great class format
Interesting lecturer, class was pretty hard, he's vague
Not the easiest grader, but gives high grades for class, eccentric, interesting
AMAZING TEACHER, TAKE THIS CLASS
Very inspiring, but his grading system sucks.
brilliant, interesting, FAIR, friendly, accessible--TAKE HIS CLASS
one of, if not the, best teachers I had at DE, makes students think
Have to listen to lectures & look book...not hard. He makes class fun!
Excellent, intelligent, funny, VERY helpful
great professor...amazing class
Great teacher/lecturer. He knows his stuff. Just watch out what for his garage!!
Great guy and inspiring class. Imagine this on a tee shirt: I love IR theory!
very challenging, but very good teacher
difficult class, tough grader, but he is a great professor.. you learn a lot!
Brilliant man, really knowns his stuff! Really fun guy, hard tests. don't slack
crazy guy, entertaining in class, review your readings, ask him about his garage
The most AWESOME professor I have ever had.. TAKE THIS CLASS
fascinating man, class interesting, class discussions great, tests fair
GREAT professor! most interesting class yet.
work for your grade. awesome professor - none better!
overly general, goes off on tangents, trys too hard to be funny, hard class
by far my best professor! take this class!!!!

He really knows what he is talking about, and once and a while he is hilarious.
Fun class! His lectures are really interesting. Study a lot for exams!
My favorite professor at the University of Delaware
A Wonderful Man, Makes class fun and interesting, I plan on taking him again. GREAT PROFESSOR!
He is a really good guy, knows his stuff and actually tries make us learn something and not just give random grades
Captivating class. Professor absolutely amazing teacher. Grades students against each other, not using the arbitrary UD grading scale, VERY fair. Taking class with him in Fall I liked him so much.
My favorite teacher in that whole school right now. You have to work for your grade but what he teaches makes you want to learn, also he talks about the garage and if you have him you know what I mean. great guy and really funny to so take the class.
Only one day of class so far, but I wanted to stand up and clap after his opening rant.
He is by far the best teacher that i had this year. Definitely take the class, you will love it. He is interesting, and at times hilarious.
He is absolutely the best professor I've ever had. Completely brilliant. Makes you to think about things in new ways. PARTICIPATE IN THE DISCUSSIONS.
Amazing Professor, funny, and great lectures
Denemark is amazing, I can't say enough good things about him. He does have a weird grading policy where he grades you against others in the class - can work for or against you. Take is his class, you'll fall in love with this guy I promise.
Great professor with an actually relevant approach. Interesting grading, work hard all semester and you will do very well.

I garentee you a 100% u will recieve an (F)DON'T TAKE HIM
You will only get a F if you don't work or go to class. People do well in his classes if they are interested and show up.
Quite possibly the best teacher I've had at UD. Engaging and interesting lectures and discussions. Lots of papers, but all one page. Participation is key. You will love this man.
What an awesome professor! I learned a lot and loved his class. His rants were hillarious and his was one of the few classes that really stand out to me since graduation. Thanks!
Best teacher I have ever had. If you want to better yourself at college take him as a professor.
funniest guy. brilliant man, he'll make u think about stuff a completly different way. definately take a class with him.
Good guy. Funny. Interesting. Actually learned something, but when it comes down to it i got a grade i didnt really want and i would have traded an A for the humor and interesting lectures. Unless you breathe Poly Sci, dont take it.
teaches this class like it's not intro. posc majors will love him, everyone else will too...until they see their grade. reminds me of andy kauffman (sp?)
This is my third class with Prof Denemark and he continues to keep me entertained and coming back for more. He might be a little hard but you learn a lot & understand that much more about international relations. He's a great teacher with a good sense of humor take him and you will never go wrong.
A great class with a great professor. You will really learn from this class. If you want to learn to write well and make a coherent statement in class this is the class. NOTE: Attendance for his Diplomacy class is absolutely mandatory, so if you can't make a commitment, don't sign up.
very unorthodox class. in order to earn a B, must attend nearly every class and speak during every class....course consists of 9 one page papers plus a short group paper..nice to not have tests, the other students in the course were a bunch of losers who will get smashed in the real world
One of the classes you have to take at UD. One of the best I've taken Amazing professor, hilarious too. Very unorthodox class. Attendance is mandatory, if you miss you're screwed. If you can't make the class don't take it. Somewhat hard to get into. Fairly easy work though.
Excellent Professor, Best I have taken at UD thus far. You must come to class everyday and be able to form a coherent thought, since you are graded on the quality of your participation, in order to get a good grade.
While his sense of humor was appreciated, I often found the metaphorical and symbolic content of his lectures hard to grasp. I found I learned a whole lot more through reading the book, however lecture material appeared on the test. Odd grading system. Allows students to determine test format.
Was he interesting? Yes. Was he funny? Yes. Would I take another one of his classes? Not-a-chance! Waaayyy too large a % of your grade is based upon straight-out participation (40%, +/-). Also, exams were fairly tricky (ambiguous answer choices).
Great professor, but you have to like POSC to enjoy the class. Makes lectures enjoyable and entertaining with colorful style, but tests are tricky, have to read the questions carefully. A lot of the grade is based on participation, so you need to be willing to speak up and often, must fight for your points. If you like to talk will get atleast a B
Bob is DA MAN. He is funny as hell, interesting and a great teacher. Learned a lot even though I spent a lot of time looking at his hot hot TA ;-)
GREAT teacher, one of the few at this hellhole that actually wants to teach you. This particular class tests NOT your ability to **** but your actual intelligence level. If you're stupid you should avoid this class.
He does not have the typical lecture/exam format in his classes. You have to attend and participate. Participation is 60% of your grade. He expects you to make intelligent comments and write papers with a clear and strong argument (you cannot just bs these papers). You'll learn a lot from this guy; I definitely reccomend him.
This man is brilliant. This is a hard intro class, and you actually have to go to class and read the book to do well. He doesn't have a set grading scale. I thought I would get a C, and I pulled out a B. If you are interested in Poli Sci, definately take this class with him because he is an amazing teacher and a really cool guy.
denemark is brilliant. he is easily the best prof in the dept. you´ll learn more in one of his classes than 3 semesters with other international relations profs.
First, he is a great prof that makes any class better. Class is an introduction on how theories are built and supported. Then class builds their own theories and finally reads works from IR social scientists and discusses the merits of the material. Classes are primarily class led, very little lecturing. Readings can be challenging, but great class

Professor Denemark is probably one of the funniest, helpful and intelligent professors at the University of Delaware. He teaches uniquely in that he is actually interesting! While the class was difficult (I took it as a freshman) it was well-worth the experience of having a professor like Denemark. The text was important, though it was only a book.
This man is absolute brilliant... a genuinely nice, funny, and EXTREMELY intelligent guy. That being said, the material is hard and class attendance is necessary if you want to pass. I cannot stress this enough: GO TO REVIEW SESSIONS!!! Hard, but worth it if you are willing to put in work.
Amazing professor! His tests are really hard (nice curve though) and you have to go to class because the lectures are different from the textbook, but his class guarantees an interesting lecture and he is fully of witicisms and sarcasm.
Bob is BRILLIANT! He will teach you the most important thing you can learn in college: how to speak and write well. class is all discussion. grade = 60% participation, 40% 1 page papers. MUST SPEAK WELL IN CLASS to get a decent grade. Not an easy A bc he only gives the top handful of students an A. WELL WORTH THE CHALLENGE!!!
I was sure I would hate the class but it was extremely thought provoking and overall a great class. He is extremely intelligent, funny, and nice but he does get somewhat opinionated at times.
If you're a juvenile then this class is for you. Somewhat immature teaching style. The class structure is utterly ridiculous. Inherently curved, never know what the hell you have in the course till the end. Get graded on participation in a class of 60 or so. Trying to get points is like**** trying to get to an egg. Hated the class. dont take it.
Denemark is a very intelligent professor and knows a lot about what he is talking about. His tests are very tough but if you do your reading you can get a good grade, reading and going to class are both very important. As long as you are interested in the class and do your work you will do well. He is a great prof and is very funny and helpful.
HORRIFIC TEACHER! Very intelligent and knows his topic however prof. Denemark is unable to come down to students levels and makes the class completely about himself. His personal notes consist of bad jokes and hugely off topic examples. Waste of time and your grade! DO NOT BOTHER
The lectures are really interesting and he has a really critical yet funny teaching style. The classes are laid back and entertaining. He makes a lot of jokes and examples. However, the tests are hard and seem to be based on his view of things. He assumes that we don't know anything about politics. The questions on the test were pretty hard.
Brilliant Professor. Lectures are interesting, hard to follow at times. Does a good job relating course material to every-day comical circumstances.Tests are hard and require studying. If your looking for an easy A, do not take this class. If your interested in how the world works and the process by which it does then this class is for you.
Absolutely best teacher at UD. Incredibly intellegent and helps with any question you have. Brings all lectures to life with great examples. Does not cover book material in lectures so it is important to read it in order to do well. Three tests, which are graded relative to everyone in your class, and two case studies. Take this class with Dr. D
Awesome! He has none of the negative stereotypes associated with professors. Extremely intelligent & probably the most down-to-earth professor i've had. One of my all-time favorite teachers...
I love Dr. D
Tough tests, but very interesting lectures. He may seem intimidating, but he's actually really nice if you visit him in office hours. He wants everyone to do well. Made lecture material easy to understand by using everyday examples.
Denemark is incredible. I learned more in his class than in any other class at UD. Take Diplomacy. It will change your life.
By far, the best professor I've had at UD. He may seem intimidating, but he is very helpful, and very kind. You will learn more about life in his diplomacy class than you ever expected. You'll want to attend class, and you'll want to do the work.
This man is definitely one of the best Profs at UD. You definitely need to go to class and take notes. Exams are half lecture, half readings and he doesn't always go over readings. Otherwise, he is absolutely hilarious and extremely knowledgeable. you will learn SO MUCH!
He is really awesome and the class is not as hard as you would think. If you show up and listen you will soak up most of what you need to know. Anyone interested in political science or IR needs to take him. He was the best professor I ever had.
Denemark is such a cool guy! He is so nice and really willing to help you. His exams are tough though, most student average about a 50%, but then he grades the class based on standard deviation and everyone's averages. If you ask him to help you, he will. Review sessions with him are SO helpful. Also, know current events for the exams.
Everyone praises Denemark, so I wanted to see what he was really about. I almost dropped this class - thank god I didn't. You have to work really hard and be confident but it is so worth it. Get to know his system of how he grades and you'll be fine. Participate as much as possible & pick a good seat where you will be noticed. Go to office hours.
Reason he is ranked this high: He is that good. Makes you want to get to class and actually learn. Smartest guy you'll ever listen to.
Really smart guy, cares a lot about what he teaches which makes for very interesting and knowledgable lectures . Study, read, go to office hours if you must. Very entertaining - one of the best at UD.
Professor Denemark is one of the greatest professors at UD. He genuinely cares about his students and will work with students one-on-one. You definitely have to work hard in his classes, but it totally pays off.
Possibly the best professors at the UD. Extremely intelligent, caring, and hilarious. I took this as a breadth and I was wary at first, but I feel much more knowledgeable about the world because of this class. Ngl its a hard class and you are gonna have to work for it. Grading is a little scary because he grades based on how your peers do.
Good professor. Do the textbook readings as a lot of the exam questions are about the readings. For the class you will have a short one page paper to write and a total of three exams. The exam questions arent easy so go over your notes thoroughly. Not an easy A class but you will learn a lot so you should take it.
While Denemark is very knowledgable about everything that he teaches, his teaching methods are not ideal. He uses no powerpoints or anything. He only writes 3 questions on the board and then talks at you for the duration of the class. The discussion section wasn't too bad, usually a reading or two and then class discussion. Tests are difficult.
Denemark is an amazing professor and lecturer. He does a great job providing examples and keeping lectures engaging. Do have to attend every class to take notes, but he makes it worthwhile. Would definitely recommend + take again.
Denemark is an excellent professor and great lecturer. Examples and content was always presented in an engaging way. You have to go to class to take notes, but he makes it worthwhile. He wants to make you work for it, but he really cares about providing a strong learning experience so it's definitely worth taking.
This was by far the hardest class I've taken. Denemark is a nice guy and very smart, but he lectures for an hour with no powerpoint. Doesn't address textbook, but 1/2 the tests are on it so you have to teach 13 chapters to yourself. Exams are hard. His grading system is also super weird and confusing, no grades in Canvas. I wouldn't take him again.
He lectures for an hour with no PowerPoint, only 3 words on the chalkboard. He does not talk about the textbook but it makes up most of the exam questions so you're teaching yourself. Exams are hard. He also has a weird grading system. I would not take him again.
Dropped the class as I was sitting in it on the first day. Uses no technology or slideshows, only lectures by mouth. Not a big deal if he didn't get sidetracked so easily. He had to be steered back on track a handful of times just going over the syllabus on the first day. Huge red flag especially for such a difficult class
In my 18 years of being a student Professor Denemark has been the single best instructor I've ever had. He's incredibly smart, passionate and wants his students to succeed. His classes are hard but I felt like a better student after I finished. His office hours are great and I always look forward to his classes
While yes this class was hard, it was honestly one of the more interesting classes ive taken. It is very textbook heavy and a lot of reading but as long as you attend class and read you should be fine. He is also very welcoming towards questions and while he can be tough he really does care about his students and their understanding of the content
Diplomacy is the most important, challenging, and thought provoking course I've taken at UD. The first lecture he'll scare you and you may consider dropping the class, but if you stick with it, you'll really learn how to navigate serious issues of US FOPO. Go to his office hours - he is very helpful and truly cares about his students.
This class with Denemark was THE most incredible experience I have had at UD. Super unique class and teaching style, but he sets you up for success in the future. It crafts public speaking kills like nothing else. If you want to go into politics or law, TAKE THIS CLASS! It changed me as a student for the better.
Denemark is one of the best professors at UD. The content is difficult, you have to go to every class or you WILL be lost for test, and the grade you get is directly based on how much smarter you are than your peers. However, his lectures are AMAZING and a great challenge, and he is so easy to talk, he cares about his students. A must-take class.
If you want to take a politics class for fun and/or give minimal effort, as I guarantee most of his lower raters did, and not because you ACTUALLY WANT TO LEARN the concepts needed to understand global politics, maybe this class isn't for you. The class is complex because GP is. Denemark is very approachable + easy to have great conversations with.
Professor Denemark is an excellent lecturer who believes in the power of humour to lighten the atmosphere. He is a really good professor, quite approachable (after lectures or office hours), yet his tests are pretty hard. His grading system is confusing, and it was pretty hard to understand. But I'd suggest read the syllabus VERY CAREFULLY.
Professor Denemark is awesome. No slides or presentations. It's all him speaking so if you like politics, it's really interesting. Grades are based on rankings. I finished with an 85 but got an A because it was the 2nd highest out of 90 students. He's funny and really nice. His office hours are incredibly helpful. Need to read the textbook though.
love/hate with this class. its hard work, you're gonna be pushed like no other BUT you will walk out with more than just crammed studying. you'll improve speaking & how to defend your stance. it sets you up for law or similar. he cares and treats ppl based on their level which is smart (annoying at times when ppl are babied and others are at war)
