He is the only teacher for this course, but he didn't retire soon enough so I had to take his class. Don't bother asking questions, he won't answer them. Be prepared for insanely long tests.
I disagree, if you study even lightly it's not hard to get a good grade in his class. He can be abrupt. He encourages open-mindedness. He is fair, and passionate about government. I think he is an excellent teacher and exemplar!
The sweetest old man, but the courses from him are difficult to understand exactly what he wants.
Was a really good class. He's an excellent teacher and a great man. I am taking all my politcial science classes from him.
Boooorrrriiiinnnngggg!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took, American Gov't, State and Local, and World Gov't. I like bro. Inama. I feel as though he is passionate about politics and Gov't, but he isn't much on discussions or comments. He will teach you what you need to know, but don't ask him what your grade is or about a question your test.
I loved him for Foreign Gov't. if you study your study guide and do your reading you will pass the test, however for intro to law, I barely passed his class. One of the hardest classes to take if you do not study and study hard.
If you arent interested in the course, you wont like the teacher. I was interested and loved Inama. I had a hundred questions every class and he answered EVERY ONE! The tests are long, but not difficult if you study. I dont know how ppl struggle?
Oh my gosh. Could this class be any more boring? I had to take it twice simply because I couldn't bring myself to go and sit through it the first time I took it.
Brother Inama is a nice guy, but sometimes will say things that are kinda off directed at women, its not extreme though. His class is structured nicely, he tells you what will be on the tests. He has a lot of experiance and knows his stuff!
Is unclear on what he wants and expects. Long tests and lots of pop quizes.
He'll give you pop quizes that don't correspond with the reading. He has very little social skills, and doesn't explain things clearly. He wants you to read the book read the book read the book! He has multiple choice tests, so he doesn't do much of anything as a teacher...and he really doesn't care what you think.
I can't figure out what he wants. He's really unclear and often spends class ignoring people. Don't take him
Classes are very hard and not easy to understand the objectives of the teacher. Tests are confusing and not very easy, regardless of preparation.
It was hard, but I lereaned a ton and he helped me out when I asked for it. I would tell you if your're going to take 110 to pay attention and you can do well in his class.
This is a great class to take. You'll definitely learn a lot. He describes things well, though he does tend to get off track with stories and all. His tests aren't always clear. It's not a class where you'll get an easy A, but if you really need a solid foundation in Government, take this class. Good starting class for PolSci majors.
he gets off subject alot and half the time you dont even know what he is talking about. He's old and tells his stories about twice a week, and forgot he already told you.
One day he kicked everyone out of class who hadn't done the homework. He doesn't remeber you and doesn't care about you.
TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE did I emphsize that enough? I took him for an online class and over 20 people got an F, I had an A- going into the final, but since you had to pass the final to pass the class I failed because I got a 55 on the final! And even though the class average was 57% he wouldn't grade on a curve
He's a great teacher. Anyone who thought he was hard didn't do the reading. Do the reading, get an A, don't do the reading, expect a C at best
This class was AWFUL!! It was super easy, there really wasn't a lot of preparedness needed. However, he has NO idea what he is talking about. There were several times when he directly contradicted the Contstitution! The only redeeming thing that I can say about him as a teacher is that he seems to enjoy his subject matter.
If you have any choice whatso ever, do NOT take this teacher! He has no idea what he is talking about. He takes his opinion, and teaches it to you as if it were law. He also makes a lot of comments, and tells jokes that degrade women. He has no respect at all for women. He also has no respect for students in general, as people, or their opinions.
Be sure to memorize the entire text before taking his exams you will need to if you want an A. Unless you are a PoliSci major you will be better off taking American Heritage.
He teaches as though you are in middle school. All you do is read the textbook and listen to him tell the same stories day after day. He will never learn your name nor does he care to. He isn't much help when you go to him in person.
Pretty hard class. You pretty much have to memorize the book to do well on the tests. He is a nice guy though, he let me add at the beginning of the semester and still remembers my name. Take good notes and do the reading, don't expect an A but you will learn a lot. great class for poli sci majors.

The syllabus' grading system was not what we were graded on. 3/4 the way through the semester half our class found out we had lower grades than we thought because we didn't know he was grading us by classroom performance and daily quizes he originally told were only for attendence. He is the only teacher I have gone to the dept chair on. Really old
Ha, you guys are funny. All you have to do is be able to read to get an A in the class. He's a great teacher and willing to help. I had a baby and was still able to do very well and he was more than willing to work with me. Very good at explaining and his tests come straight from the lectures and your notes. He tells you what you'll be tested on.
I thought I was doing good in the class up until the tests came. His tests were hard to understand and seemed to cover very little of what he talked about.
Gives hand outs to fill out. This is exactly what is on the test. Good teacher, dry humor.
Very good teacher. You must come prepared. He has actually asked people to leave who did not have homework done! I take as many classes as possible from him.
I have mixed feelings about this guy. Brother Inama does a good job with what he teaches. He tends to say the same things over and over again. His tests aren't too hard if you study. Some questions on the tests are stuff that he never went over. Overall, I think he's pretty good. Sometimes he doesn't answer questions you ask in class though.
He tells the lamest jokes. his jokes are so lame you just laugh at them!!!
Fun old fella. He does tell weird jokes sometimes, but it's endearing: you only laugh AT him if you're a jerk *cough cough* He tries hard to make it understandable for all students. Just don't expect to get an A if you don't go to class, or don't read the book: both are necessary.
He is being paid to teach us and I feel like he expected us to memorize the book and teach ourselves. If we didn't get it he scolded us like we were stupid. I hated this class. The tests are impossible unless you plan on memorizing everything. I made a 79.5% in the class and he refused to round that up to a B. He's impossible. Don't take him.
Bro. Inama is a terrific teacher. He actually expects students to come to class prepared and ready to learn. Those that complain are the lazy students that don't study and wonder why they get bad grades. More students should be thankful that he expects so much of them.
I had Inama for a block class, so it may have been different, but he only graded based on tests and sometimes pop quizzes. The tests quite often had garbled questions, that didn't use the same terminology as the book, or the notes. He WAS helpful, and let me go over the tests with him, and fix the answer key where it had several errors
I took his State and Local Government class and I hated every day of it. Bored me to absolutely no end and despite reading each required chapter at least twice (once when required for discussion and again shortly before taking test) the highest grade I was ever able to get on a test was a low B. Nice guy but just unbelievable difficult.
Really cares about his students. Has lived through some great history.
Learned a lot from class, but not thanks to him because he didn't teach us. Instead, he just assigned students to teach a chapter per day from the text.vThe class was SO boring, because the students know hardly anything about what they are talking about. Avoid at all costs if you really want to learn. Needs to learn some modern methods of teaching.
I took it as a block class and I learned a ton! It was difficult, but if you cram hard for the five tests he gives, you will do well. Also,he let me go over the test with him after and gave me a few extra points. The first four tests were hard because the questions didn't match the book or his class discussions, but I did get an A, so it is possible!
He is hard!
He does expect a lot, but he knows SO much! You have to go to class because he adds in his own stuff not in the chapter for the test. Although he is smart and tries to help he doesn't always answer your questions straight up.
Excellent professor
Don't take this as a block class. It's a lot of information covered and it seemed no matter how hard I studied on the tests the highest I ever got was a B-. The tests aren't straight forward.
Just rememberging a good professor I had. Never forget your help in teaching and have a great inspirational daughter Heidi I went to school with in Sugar-Salem High School. You never quit and help when you can. Never get agitated when the the sump in your house overflows. I remember much from U. Hope to StudySocial Politics. Kirk Lichtenberg
He does expect a lot in the way of preparing for class. But he knows a lot and will teach you and help you. He will also kick the class out if you haven't done the reading. I was dreading this class and he really made it enjoyable for me.
I really enjoyed having his Pol. Sci. 110 class. I took it when it was a block class. Just to let you know if you want to learn something about government I suggest you take him. He is a wonderful teacher. He doesn?t give homework but you must come prepare to class. I recommend you read the chapters that are assigned and make yourself a study guide
Brother Inama is a very interesting guy. He is old and it was very hard for me to take notes cause I couldn't understand him. He slurs his words together. He is not very good at being clear especially when he tries to answer your questions. He also tells very inappropriate jokes in class.
Bro Inama is a great teacher. He tells funny stories all the time! You have to do the reading before class, be prepared, and take good notes but i dont think thats too much to ask for a college course. I took it as a block class and studied for a bit everyday, and i never got lower than an A on a test. The tests are long though!!
Bro.Imana is a terrible teacher. I am taking his online class and he invents his own definitions & refuses to help students in any way. He is lazy and incompetent. I email him over and over to ask him what the correct answers are and he says they're clear in the book. Which they are NOT and some are completely fabricated. He needs to be fired.
DO NOT TAKE HIS ONLINE CLASS. HE IS A TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE ONLINE PROFESSOR. I ACTUALLY REFUSE TO CALL HIM A TEACHER BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE LEARNED MORE FROM WATCHING TV OR FROM STARING AT THE WALL. HE REFUSES TO HELP WITH ANYTHING AND HIS QUESTIONS ARE NOT CLEAR IN ANY WAY. HE NEEDS TO RETIRE...HE'S OVER 70 AND INCOMPETENT.
Great teacher. Requires you to come prepared and take tons of notes, but if you ask questions he will go over it until you understand. I took this class as a block class and it is alot of information. Using the website at the end of each chapter helped me study for his tests as well as the notes and worksheets from class. Learned a lot!
DON'T TAKE THE CLASS. He is approaching that state in age where he is not even able to comprehend the technologies available for teaching. No computers allowed. It is painful to watch him use one. All of his quizzes are on paper and there is no I learn. Tests look like there were written on a type writer and are antiquated to actual material
Its a hard class, but its Bro Inama, what do you expect. Read and know the chapters for the test. He does a great job of explaining things, and the work sheets and assignments were never collected just discussed in class.
This guy needs to retire. His tests were probably written 20 years ago (he's been for at least 45 years). He mixes up dates in class and is not on top of things. I wouldn't take a class from him again even if you promised me an A.
I was hoping for a class that was nonbiased in politics. Unfortunately thats not what Brother Inama taught.
Brother Inama is a teacher from another era and is amazingly hard making you apply concepts as opposed to just memorization of facts. He expects a lot and is hard, but I have learned more from him than any other teacher here. He is an acquired taste!
He is not helpful at all when you ask him questions outside of class. makes you feel dumb if you ask him about an assignment. Tests are very hard and info may not be in book. only good thing is study guides. but still hard to comprehend what he is talking about in class.
He loves what he does and he tries to make the class exciting and fun. When you ask questions in class, he doesn't really answer them, but I think it's because he can't hear you asking it. His class is easy and his tests are long, but he does give outlines to study.
I'm finishing his Online 110 class. The book is the backbone of the class. He is a great guy. He is older, but is great. He has a great love for this country and you can tell, show him you have that same love, read the material and it is a great class.
Anyone who takes his online class and doesn't get an A has something wrong with them. He emailed us 25 multiple choice questions due every week. The majority of our grade was based off those questions. The final was just an accumulation of all those questions, pretty much verbatim. I would recommend this class to anyone.
He teaches quite well, but when it comes down to the tests, it is absolutely horrendous. His jokes are pretty lame but he's super nice yet not that willing to help you in the class or answer many questions. The only major problem I had were his tests, which seemed like you had to memorize the book.
If you have to take this class for your major, then my advice is to put it off as long as you can in the hopes that he retires before you graduate and they hire someone else to teach it. If you can't put it off then expect to do the work for an A grade and receive a B at best. He will provide little or no help and his tests are incomprehensible.
Inama is a cakewalk compared to law school. His classes are the closest to it though. I would recommend taking him. He may seem hard but as long as you study and do the work, you should be fine.
The tests are insanely hard (about 70-80 questions each) and are very specific. I have a good memory and did fine, but most of the class struggled. Read each chapter twice and take lots of notes. Bro. Inama is really old, so he didn't always understand our questions, and when he did he usually didn't answer them. But what choice do you have?
Ridiculously hard. I am almost always a straight A student but I got a B+ and it was the second highest grade in the class- only one person got an A. I studied for hours upon hours for the tests and still just managed to scrape an average B most of the time. Wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. Try to find another teacher for it or something.
Inama is a wonderful teacher. Don't listen to the previous posts. just b/c he actually asks us to work doesn't mean he's hard. His class was 100% worth my money! & he was totaly relevant and very wise. I can't wait to take another class from him!
Took State n Local + Am Gov both in class n got As.Took 280 and got a C+ lol.He teaches well.Older so gotta raise ur hand n speak up, he will answer. If u go during office time,he will help u. If u don't show up or do not do ur HW-then you'll prob fail. Review book and study sheets and it'll be fine.Bob Inama is one of a kind legend n a kind man :)
Brother Inama gives lots of hand-written study guides that are hard to read. His tests are fairly hard and may be extremely long. However, he will help you out if you do your homework, participate in class, and visit with him once in a while.
Brother Inama is a powerhouse of knowledge. Had him for 280 and 311. Heavy textbook use. Know how to apply terms to real life situations. The examples he uses in class are on exams. So take notes! He loves to help when asked. People who didn't receive good grades and complain must expect to be handed good grades. Welcome to the real world.
Brother Inama is a true veteran in the culture of Politics. He is very informative, along with a good sense of humor. He expect his students to read comprehensively from the textbook. late work is not accepted in his class. He is very willing to help out and hope the best for each of his students.
A very good teacher! I highly recommend him for this class. He is very funny and helpful and sincerely wants to help you do the best in his class. He wants you to get a good grade and will help you. Great knowledge of political science. You learn a lot in this class.
He is an antiquity at BYU-I. He has the knowledge but doesn't always convey it clearly. If you review the notes and read, you will do fine.
One time he was angry and kicked everyone out of class; not professional
He is not clear at all. To get a good grade... memorize the textbook. I showed up and sat there all semester, learned nothing from the man. got a "A" by studying the book like hell. Inama didn't really teach anything. just reviewed the reading I class.
Don't know what everyone's problem is. He's awesome.
I loved Bro. Inama! He is old, but he knows his stuff! Just read the textbook, know the key terms and court cases and you will do great in his class. He will answer questions, but he's hard of hearing so you have to speak up and be clear. Also, don't be to easily offended. He really does get to know each of his students. Definitely ake his class!
I love Brother Inama! He is HILARIOUS! He knows his stuff. For state and local gov class, you do have to attend. You can only miss 5 days of his class. Be aware, he does not put anything on I-Learn; you study and use study guides that he personally writes and gives a new one out about every class day. Long test, 100+ questions. Great teacher!
Well; it was interesting. His jokes were funny and no one seemed to mind, plus he didn't really mean them. Memorize the textbook and you'll do fine.
Would not recommend him. He was very old, didn't use ILearn and wrote everything on the chalkboard. His tests came straight from the textbook. Memorize that book like crazy and you could maybe get an A. His tests were always long and were pretty much all vocab and court cases. Going to class was pointless but it was required; you could only miss 2.
Bro Inama is a funny older man. His class feels like a skimpy review of what was learned in US history in high school. Tests are about 90 multiple choice questions about court cases and terminology. He makes some jokes to keep things interesting. No mandatory homework or reading, just attending class and reviewing the textbook will get you an A.
Bro Inama was SO kind, caring, and helpful. He taught basic law in a way that helped me remember hard concepts. Yes, his tests were challenging, but if you READ the book and study wksheets done in class, you are most likely going to get an A or a B in the class. Be prepared to work though. Bro Inama is great. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
Brother Inama is a funny old dude who knows his stuff. Class is a hoot and the curriculum is just the right amount of challenging. The tests are a bit tricky and work is required. If you put in the work to learn, I recommend learning from him.
I think Dr. Inama is more like a typical university professor than anybody else on campus. He'll make time for you if you schedule it. He'll care about you if you care about his class. For the most part, he's got tenure and is bulletproof. You can't get an A without being really smart. Sorry.
Amazing teacher, thinks he is really fun, but mainly is just a cute old man, learn so much in this class. Tests are hard and the things he stresses in class are not always the things we test on. Long tests, with an average grade of around 70%.
Inama is a fantastic teacher. I enjoyed his class so much I took a foreign government class from him as well. I felt he was very interesting to listen to. He displayed an incredible mastery of his subject. I appreciated that he did not bog me down with busywork. I don't understand why people think he is so hard...I had nearly a 100%.
He is a great teacher. If your willing to do your part by working hard he will make sure you do good.
He USED to know a lot about government, doesn't keep up anymore, and gets confused when you ask about current events. He is NO help at all when you ask a question, often lets you out of class early, and you basically read from the text book's glossary, tests are tough because all he does is recite the confusing text when you ask for clarification.
I would take another class from this man in a heartbeat. Sure, I got a B in his class, but loved every moment of it. Honestly, had I worked harder, I would have received an A. I made friends in the class because we all just loved Dr. Inama. I love this man. He gives you the answers to tests before test day. Just study and memorize!
Brother Inama is very old. He has been teaching on campus for 52 years. He is very old fashioned and strict. Yes his test are really hard, but he is good at what he does. I enjoyed his lectures. He was also funny. But you will need to study a ton to get a good grade on the test. The class average on his test was 78 and he doesn't curve the test.
Brother Inama doesn't use I-learn but don't let this deter you; he makes his homework instructions crystal clear and he tells you what's on the tests. He's a very funny teacher and he makes class entertaining at times. He's a bit politically incorrect with his jokes but that's what makes it awesome. Prepare to laugh. Attend class, you'll pass
Brother Inama is very smart on his subject, but he's old. Sometimes hard to hear him speak. He gives packets and lets you fill them out in class and the tests are directly from the packets. Not too hard and he's pretty funny. He also lets you out of class early almost everyday.
