This was the first college course i have ever taken and it was great. Iwan is a great teacher...he explains everything so well and answers every question thoroughly. The tests are pretty hard but if u study the print outs of his slides u will do fine.

The best instructor I ever had. Will do everything he can to help his students understand and has an excellent sense of humor. He made learning fun.

Bob was a very fun teahcer to have for biology. He is very knowledgable about the subject and helpful to everyone. His tests are very hard becuase they concentrate on if the student understands the concept of the entrie subject. No multiple choice or true and false. it's all essay. otherwise he will do anything he can to help you pass the class if

Bob gives lots of examples and explains everything very clearly. His tests are hard because he wants you to know more than the basic concept. If you study you will do well. If he sees that you are actually trying to understand the material he will be very helpfull. HIS TESTS ARE HARD! A nice guy even though he is a flaming liberal athiest.

This class is hard. But he makes it very very fun and interesting. He is fun to listen to in lecture. His Tests are extremely hard. But most of the questions come right out of the powerpoints. Very cool professor though.

Nice guy, if you're working. Doesn't have time or sympathy for people who don't try, but is very helpful if you go to him for help. He gives EXTREEMLY hard exams. He's fun and interesting to listen to in lecture, but I won't take him again because his tests are WAY too difficult for entery level biology. Class average on his exams are about 60-65%.

Bob is the best teacher I have ever had, and is always helpful to anyone that wants to learn.

Bob Rocks! He is fun and very helpful. He will let you know his class is hard and it is, his tests are very intense and does online quiz. His labs are laid back and easy..Prove to him your there to learn and you should do fine.

Easy class just make sure you read the book and go to lab. He says its hard but most of the class is Bio review from high school.

I had prof. Iwan at a different community college about 8 years ago. He was the best teacher I have ever had!! I hated all science before I had his class. After I took him for intro biol I ended up getting a B.S. in biology. He has faith in anyone who shows interest. He knows his s***! I'm so glad he is still teaching! Thanks Bob!

This teacher is amazing! His class so soo hard, but I learned a ton. I hated science before I took Bob's class but he made it interesting and (gasp) sometimes even fun. Be prepared to work harder in his class than any other, but it's worth it.

i've had bob for a couple of classes and he is awesome. his tests arent that hard (just study the material on the powerpoint, doesnt use book at all) he's really fun. lab is really laidback and his lectures are interesting (he explains stuff really well) i would totally recommend him

Bob has high expectations for all of his students. His test are hard, that is very true but he does have all information needed in his power points, you just have to know that information inside out. His labs are very laid back and everyone got all the points. He is not as bad as some say, he just wants you to put your time into your work.

Bob is a wonderful teacher. He pushes you to learn, and if you don't study, you will fail. Only complaint is that he gets very side tracked about his opinions on religion and evolution's acceptance in the world. If he left these things at the door, there would be more room to learn Biology and less for bickering amongst him and his students.

Bob is an excellent instructor. His passion for the material and love for teaching are obvious. Tests are challenging, but if you put in the time and effort you can succeed. I would suggest recording his lectures. The only regret I have is taking the 3 credit micro instead of the 5!

Prof has very high standards, but is willing to work with you every step of the way to meet them. Clearly loves Bio and makes it fun to learn. He's always willing to meet you halfway, but you will work hard in his classes. Always makes time for students for further explanations. Wrong prof for an easy A - you really earn whatever grade you get.

Without a doubt the best teacher I've ever had. As long as you fill out his worksheets and know the power points, you'll do just fine in the class. Take a class with him! You'll never regret it. :)

Bob is an AWESOME teacher, he has a great sense of humor which makes learning fun. Anyone who is having problems with his class is not putting in the effort. The worksheets are optional, but you are a fool to not do them - they REALLY help you learn the info. My only complaint is I purchased the book for nothing- tests are 100% off his powerpoints.

Not a hard class. Bob is passionate about what he teaches. His tests were straight from his powerpoints, I never even opened my book. His labs were not difficult and neither were his assignments. Good guy. Microbiology just isn't that interesting to me.

Bob is very generous, humorous, and helpful. He is always willing to help explain stuff that doesn't make sense and he uses very concrete examples. Slackers beware; if you aren't willing to work hard, you WILL fail this class, and Bob has no sympathy for lazy students.

Bob is an EXCELLENT professor. He goes above and beyond helping students learn the material and brings up interesting topics not in the course work, but directly related to the class to get you thinking critically. If you are LAZY, do not take a class with Bob. You will fail. If you're looking to actually learn the subject matter, take his class!!

Bob is a great teacher! Regardless of what people say, he really knows his stuff, and knows how to explain it in a way for people to understand. He is more than willing to go into any amount of detail to make sure you are understanding, just ask questions if you dont get it. Go to class, do the worksheets, you will do fine! Love Bob!

The class is challenging, but you will learn your stuff.

This was a very tough class but I found that I loved the challenge Bob put upon the class. Now that the course is through, I feel very accomplished having been able to work hard and succeed. I really learned a lot. Take Bob if you are truly interested in learning Biology.

Bob rocks. Seriously. Take this class from him. I did not even take the prerequisite and got an A in the class... But I also worked my butt off and he is extremely good about answering questions! Highly recommended!

Bob's easiness rating (1.9) seems scary at first, but after taking the accelerated summer microbio course with him, I found that the class was easy if you work hard. He was very helpful, direct, VERY talkative. Although the lecture part was supposed to be online, he was kind enough to go over anything in lab. Text book = not needed,used his ppts.

Hardest tests I've ever taken, but best teacher I've ever had. You need to know the material inside and out but Bob genuinely cares about his students and takes a personal interest in their learning. Not the most organized with power points / syllabus, but he is very clear on what is expected for tests. Thanks for everything Bob!!

Bob is hands down the best teacher I have ever had. Whether you are just getting into biology or already have some experience, he makes class interesting and fun. He cares about his students, his lectures are great, he explains the material exceptionally well. If you have the chance, take any bio class with him!!

The tests are ridiculously difficult. They force a HIGH level of critical thinking and leave you wondering what he's looking for. Because of this, even in knowing the material & studying HARD, you may not do as well as expected. Classes are very laid back & he will jump through hoops to help you though. Don't like him enough to use again

He was AWESOME! So helpful, loved what he did which really helped. His tests were awful, they were so hard, but they truly made you understand what you learned in class. I would HIGHLY recommend him!! I may take another class (unrelated to my major) just to learn from him again. Just a great, passionate teacher!

Bob is an excellent teacher. He does expect you to study and know everything very thoroughly but he is willing to be a bit more easier if he knows it is needed. he is always available to talk to and discuss anything you need help with and is really helpful. Best part... you can decide what grade to give yourself in lab!

He is an excellent teacher! I have never been very good at science in general and have always had a hard time with it. He explained things really well and gives out extra credit. However, be prepared to study!

he is very goods AT EXPLAIN the lesson. if you have any question, he can answer it and you with understand it clear. this class was not bad, but the test was very, very, very, and very difficulty. maybe if you take this course in class it will be much better to understand thing. you can try if because he is not a bad professor and very helpful.

This is one of my favorite teachers. I had heard he was impossible to pass, but as long as you put work into it you will be fine. He's always available for help if needed. I didn't need to use the book at all because his long powerpoints explained EVERYTHING you needed to know. Make sure to print those off!

COMING INTO THE CLASS I HEARD IT WAS GOING TO BE TOUGH. HE PUSHED YOU TO KNOW YOUR STUFF. SO YES THE EXAMS CAN BE CHALLENGING BUT IT WILL ALL HELP YOU IN THE LONG RUN. I LIKED THE PROFESSOR SO MUCH IM TAKING A SUMMER MICROBIOLOGY CLASS WITH HIM THIS SUMMER. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Took his BIOL 1120 course online. Easy A. Didn't even buy the textbook. Just a couple quizzes a week, 4 decently-easy exams WITH extra credit offered, easy labs, and easy discussions. Bob was struggling with keeping up with grading assignments and eventually just rewarded the class full credit for those assignments. Nice guy.

Most of the work requires you to Read! I took his class for spring 2016. You have to do the Work! do not come to this instructor at the end of class to seek help with your failing grade as he states in the beginning of his class. If you are taking a hybrid class and don' show up for lab. Forget about having an A or B. Great straight forward PROF.

I took this as a summer course, very accelerated since it was only a month long. Great professor! You have to work hard to get an A but it is doable. Never used the textbook since his exams and quizzes are from his lecture power points. He's very passionate about biology which is a good thing in my opinion, he's also very funny which helps!

Bob is a very organized instructor. The topic of microbiology itself is difficult and you have to put in the work to understand the topics and get a good grade. It IS possible to get an A in this class you just need to participate and put the time in. Tests based off of powerpoints - each one has corresponding quiz. Lectures utilize analogies.

I took critical issues with Bob online, and you can tell he doesn't really know how to work D2L very well. But he is very caring and nice, and will help you out in any way possible!

Bob was great. His lectures are very dense and long but he has PowerPoints for them all posted on d2l. His tests are HARD, but he gives a ton of extra credit questions. I took him for accelerated summer course. If he sees you are trying and really working hard he will grade you appropriately and give you chances to get that A.

I took this class over the summer, it was a lot of work but it payed off. Make sure you do the worksheets that is how I mainly learned everything. Tests are difficult but there is always lots of extra questions in so you have a big buffer. The lab portion was not hard - do the work and you get the points easy as that. Nice guy and cares for us.

I have taken Bob for biology and now microbiology. He is by far the best professor I have had in my college experience. He truly cares about your success. Hes very understanding about life circumstances and works with you very well. Hes hilarious and extremely intelligent. I will be sad this is my last class I have with him.

I was scared to take a class from Bob because I heard he was a tough professor. He is tough, but very fair. He will bend over backwards to help you master the material and is so helpful during labs. I wish I could take another class from him. He's one of my favorite professors ever!

He is awesome. Really wants his students to do well and if you communicate your needs, he will do his best to help out. Lots of extra credit but he makes you work for the grade. Very fair

He expects a lot but is always there to help. His Zoom lectures are great but I wish I could have had them in person. Tough grader. The lab part of the class was much easier than the lecture part.

Bob was so great; he is definitely a teacher who teaches through understanding rather than memorizing. He is no BS so if you get a bad test score because you didn't put in the work, he will tell you that. On the flip, if you are putting in the work and still struggling, he will do what he can to help you as much as you need.

Bob is a great teacher. He is smart and organized. I start to really like Biology thanks to him. My advice is: for lecture exams, just write down everything on PowerPoints; or lab exam, read all the info of every experiment including pre&post lab, background info, beacause all questions come from there. Do not need to waste time on worksheet.

The professor is organized, but the class is quite challenging. Doing the worksheets and study sessions is key. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for exam prep. Overall, it's a tough but rewarding course.
