Wish I just studied and did better on his tests.
Okay teacher. Exams were easy.

Very easy class - just watch movies and take quizes
This is a great class! you get to learn about various parts of the film industry but he makes it simple and fun!!! take this class.
Easy kick back class, watch movies, exams based on lectures which are easy to understand, multiple choice exams, 80% of class time we watched movies, one easy project(watch a movie, write essay about movie/director, discuss within group)
One word: Boring. Oh, and remember to show up on days when tests are given.
Cool guy. Take notes and youll be fine on tests. Hes obsessed with lord of the rings so talk to him about that. Try not to fall asleep during the movies unless you really have to. The seats are hard to get comfortable in so you might not get to sleep
Good teacher and very helpful. No papers. Just copy his powerpoint notes and you'll be fine for the tests. Really don't need the book.
Not a hard class, he's way funny. Tests were surprisingly hard, but out of 5, you can drop 2 of those grades. Write down his notes!!
The best teacher I have ever had. This class was so easy. If you cant ace the first 3 exams, your a moron. All you have to do is get an A on 3 out of the 5 exams and youre done with the class.
More than fair professor. Tests are easy, he completely prepares students. Interesting lectures, and interesting films. An "A" in the course is an easy goal.
nice guy. good films. take him.
Bob Jordan kicks ass. Take this class, easy A. 5 quizes and a final. He only takes 3 grades, so if you get A's on the first 3 quizes you can stop coming. Movies are somewhat interesting. Bob Jordan for SDSU President.
Easy class. Comical Prof. Great learning experience and Easy A. Just show up for lecture and do light reading
Such a great and funny teacher! Class is VERY easy and the films are interesting if you are interested in foreign films.
Great class. Powerpoint lectures. Interesting films and "Bob" has got a great sense of humor so the class isn't boring. Would highly recommend!!!
Great professor, very helpful and wants you to do well. You don't have to take the final if you do well on the earlier tests. Funny guy too.
I totally enjoyed his class! i took the first 3 quizzes, and that was enuff for me to get and A, i didnt even have to show up to class anymore, just go to class watch the films and study the notes he gives u! ?'s for quizzes are right outta his notes!
One of the best professors on campus....funny, informative, knows subject very well, the class is an easy "A"..The exams are cake...sucks that he got laidoff....sign a petition to reinstate him!!
Great teacher! He really knows his stuff...
Great insight even for non film majors. All about movies, you spend most of your time watching them. Easy A, fascinating info, EXCELLENT TEACHER.
cool teacher, tests arent horrible, just read and go to calss and everythign should be ok. Essays arent too hard either and grades fairly easy. if you do what eyou gotta do you will end up with no less than a B, but A is extrememly possible to get.
I have learned more from this professor than from all my other professors combined! His personal knowledge of random subjects is more valuable than what's in textbooks. I took notes on everything he talked about. His excellent sense of humor never makes the class seem boring. I wish he could teach more, if not all TFM courses at this college. A++++
Bob is awesome, very knowledgeable and humorous too. Grades fairly easy on the essay's and the in class tests are cake!! He likes to talk alot , so beware of the night classes! He is the best TFM teacher at SDSU and this class was excellent, take it!
Didn't expect to get much out of this class, but it was da bom! E Z grading 'cuz all you gotta do is show up and watch stuff
No Comments
i took him 'cuz everyone ranted and raved what an awesome explorations class it was...WRONG!!! even everyone i talked to said they heard the same thing, 'great class, must take'...dont take it unless you have lots of patience, i absolutely hated it...im not the only one...
really good
OMG. Easiest class EVER. So easy I felt my intellegence was insulted. Im not even trying to be rude but I think I took a smiliar class in 4th grade.lol but If you need an Easy A GE then go for it but if your at SDSU to learn not just waste money than try a little harder and take a class thats worth your time. Thanks for the A Bob-o
bob is great! hes really funny and keeps the class enterained. the class is interesting if u even remotely enjoy watching movies. really easy, just show up and listen to bob crack jokes.
This class is so easy I don't recommend taking it. The clear majority of what you learn comes from your own reading of the textbook, which is generally a nice read (pictures, smaller pages, etc). The professor is very nice, fun every time, and he picks pretty good films to watch, but the course is just too easy and very little material is covered.
easiest class i have ever taken. its once a week and i think i went maybe twice not including test days the whole semester. there are three exams and lowest one is dropped so i didnt even take the final. the prof is a nerd and we focus on things like lord of the rings. i dont really think i learned anything. it was too easy.
I had bob for tfm 160 and it is a lot of the same info in the beginning, good class, easy just watch a movie every class, test are really easy like only 20 questions, read a little of the book and you'll be fine
Professor Jordan's class was very interesting. Three hour classes were tough, but he never failed to have a sense of humor. This class is almost too easy.
Very VERY EASY...But only take this class if you can stand having personal jokes cracked about you. He hates kids who went to public school. HE totally does NOT respect his students in any way. He'll treat you like you're 5, but then you can show him who is boss by getting a 105% on your tests without any effort.
An easy A class. Tests are really short about 25 questions. His lectures, which are his ramblings, are pretty short. Movies take up most of the time in this 3 hour class. Read the book. I recommend you take this class with a friend.
EASIEST. CLASS. EVER. but it was really interesting and i thought he was really funny. i'd definitely recommend it to anyone, especially if you already have a full load!
Incredibly easy class, just take notes for 30 minutes, have a 10 minute break, then watch a movie and it's over. The tests are easy, he gives a study guide for everything and it's all in your notes. Easy A.
Your grade is based on 3 exams total, with the third being the final. Study guides are provided for each one. Just master the terms, go to each lecture (they're all pretty interesting), and watch the movies. Straightforward, a very interesting and simple GE-level course. Take it!
This class is easy but not as easy as everyone says. I got at 3.95 gpa last semester and i barely go an A. The class does require you put some effort. The tests arent THAT easy. Just go into it knowing you gotta do some work
It is true he does make fun of the students, but it's completely harmless if you have a sense of humor. He explains things so you understand them perfectly. Everything he showed and discussed was interesting except his little obsession with LOTR...not really my thing. Take this class though!!!
This man knows nothing about history, or art history to include what he is teaching almost 450 people. He is making up his own psychotic version as he goes along, and I don't believe that he even read the book for the class, as most of what he says is WRONG. I'm sure that he knows about Lord of the Rings, but that is NOT historical. READ the bk Bob
Don't believe what people say that this class is easy.. Yeah right. If it was the class average wouldn't be so low. You basically have 3 exams to take and the third is the final. So if you mess up one of the tests, you're pretty much screwed because it accounts for 33% of your grade. No homeworks or anything to pad the grade.
the professor is fairly easy. obviously your grade is going to reflect your effort, what's on the study guide is what's on the test (gives extra points)HINT: if have any questions pertaining to what's on the study guide, ask!SDSU is a univeristy, don't expect a "easy/given" grade.
WAS TOLD THIS CLASS WAS AN EASY GE-DEF NOT! ONLY 3 TESTS! TAKES ATTND 5 RANDOM XS=10% OF GRADE. THATS IT! TESTS R FROM STUDY GUIDE, BUT CLASS AVRG IS A C/76% THIS SEMESTER. MEETS 1X/WK, MOSTLY BORING MOVIES. SO BRING FOOD OR FIND ANOTHER GE. NICE MAN THOUGH!
Don't take this class unless you love TFM--especially bizarre, bloody films. We saw hardly any films in which nobody got killed or injured. The book is a difficult read, and "light reading" will not get you a good grade. You must learn the boring nitty gritty of films, directors, etc. No homework, only 3 tests and attendance counts for 10%.
The book for TFM 363 is so thick, it's confusing. You're given the study guide but the stuff on it are all over the 4 inch thick book. I'm taking a bunch of science classes and I took this for a break. Oh, was I wrong. The attendance is 10% of the grade and taken at random.
This teacher is passionate about movies. The class is overall easy, 2 midterms and a final compose your grade. Study guides tell you exactly what is going to be on the tests. I took the once a week class which was a little long, but it was worth it for an easy A and barely any notes. Watch old movies routinely.
Class was extremely easy. Bob is very clear and tells you exactly whats on the test. There were only 3 tests that were all only about 30 questions and take about 15 minutes to take (even the final). You rarely use the book, most of what is on the test comes straight from lectures. EASY A!!
the class was pretty easy overall. Although some of the black and white films watched in the beginning of sem. was super boring. 3 tests/ 25mins to take. ALways do the study guide. I do recommend the book if you want an A on the tests. He takes random attendance and its worth 10% of grade.
Easy class to satisfy one of the Explorations requirement! Attend class and review all the info on the study guides and you will suceed. Bob keeps the classes entertaining and has a good sense of humor.
TFM 160 is a fun class to take. The class is only once a week, there are only 3 exams, and he gives out a study guide so it's easy and straighforward. The films that he showed were very entertaining to watch. A great G.E. to take.
2 midterms and one final. Attendance worth 10% of grade. Takes attendance 5 times at the end of class randomly in the semester. This class wasn't exactly an easy A. I messed up my final and it really brought my grade down.
I thought I was going to enjoy this class more than I did because I enjoy foreign films. However, some movies shown were good and some were almost unbearable. The professor's sarcasm was funny at first but later led me to believe he'd really rather not be there. I got an A in the class but feel I learned very little about film.
He's a pretty funny guy. The class was easy. Just go to class and take notes and you'll do fine. I'll admit that some of the movies are a little boring but it's worth the grade. Overall, I had fun in this class.
extremely easy class. go to all the classes, take notes straight from powerpoint. there are three tests including the final that are equally weighted. he takes attendance at random 5 times. i studied for the tests about two hours before the test took place and aced all of them. bob is sarcastically funny. TAKE THIS CLASS
Easy class. He says that the book is important but I got an A in the class and didnt use it at ALL. Interesting lectures and is very funny.
three tests, all multiple choice, non cumulative, attendance is taken for a part of the grade. study guides are provided. he drags on the lectures, but he makes the class very comprehensible.
An incredible instructor. Sure, he drags on, but he loves what he's doing and is never mundane. If you sit in the front row he may ask you to answer some question, and always asks for students to participate. If you attend class you should get an A if you pay attention, and a B if you only half listen. Easy, all you do is watch movies. Love him!
Very easy class, you watch a lot of movies. Attendance is mandatory, but only takes it randomly (about 4 times). I highly suggest taking this fun, easy class. It is interesting to take even if you have no prior interest in the subject.
Class is super easy. Bob keeps it light with his weird humor and funny smile. Watch a lot of classics, and he takes roll about 5 random times, which is 10% of your grade, free! Tests are easy, and no plays are mandatory to attend. Easy A. Best teacher for the subject I am sure!
Super easy. Only reason to go to class is to take notes, and the chance of him taking attendance, which he does randomly 5 times (10% of grade). If you memorize study guide, exam can be done in 10 min. I did the extra credit paper which raised my 83% to an A in the class. If you can chill and watch random movies, take the class.
Easy class. Gives lots of extra credit for coming to class, so go! Movies are whatever, nothing exciting. but test questions about them, so go to class. Exams are simple. Use the book for exams so buy it!
Oh my god. He is easy but he is so hard to follow. Classroom is big therefore he must speak with a mic. However, he turns the volume of the mic so low thinking students would be forced to listen to him than talking. IT'S NOT WORKING. TURN UP YOUR MIC.
MEIN FUERHER! I CAN WALK!
Super interesting class if you have respect for film & its history. Lectures are 15-30 min top and then we usually watch a movie right after. Get notes from class lectures, feel bad cuz the guy just had a brain tumor removed so the class wasnt at its full potential which made it an easy/chill class. Hes also a pretty funny guy. Dont bring laptops
The questions on the test were very vague. He grades us based on the midterm (15 questions) and our final (15 questions) which is a total of 30 questions. One of the questions will make a difference on your total grade. I feel bad for him because he is on a wheelchair but that doesn't make him a great teacher.
Cool teacher, very funny. Easy class if you show up, otherwise tests and finals will backfire on you. Take it if you want a break from other stressful GE classes and hang out and watch movies. Take it!
Awesome guy. Be sure to go to his lectures because they're really helpful for the exams. Only 2 exams (midterms), optional final, and some great extra credit opportunities. He gives great lectures: clear and concise.
Easy Class, Just go to lecture. Only 2 midterms, but study for them because they are your entire grade. Only about 30-45 minutes of lecture and the rest is movies to demonstrate the concept.
First I felt bad for the guy because he is on a wheelchair. But his study guides are irrelevant to what's on the test. We got only two test with 15 questions on each test. That will reflect a lot on our grade! I couldn't stand his class. I dreaded everyday when I came to class. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Easy class, will release early a lot. Watch movies and hang out.
3 unit class that rarely meets for more than 2 hrs. Very easy class. Contrary to the people below believe the study guides are exactly what is on the test, so simply define the terms on the study guide from the book. Attendance was never taken
He is a great guy with a great sense of humor. He knows how to laugh at himself. The films were interesting but his lecturing didn't really exist. He did have two test but they were easy. He can be a little unclear about what you need for the class but this was really an easy A.
this is my dude! the class was very easy & he was extremely low key during all the lectures. i slept through all of the movies, aced both midterms & didnt have to take the final! definitly recommend. :]
Jordan is very laidback. The class itself is not difficult at all. Only two tests count for your overall grade but he gives you the study guide which is basically the test. Final was optional. Only took attendance once and had a lot of furloughs. Recommend taking this class if you want an easy class.
Not once held class the full 2 hours and 40 min. EASY extra credit. Study guide shows somewhat what will be on the test. pretty easy overall
Took the night time class. Showed up to class with friends, brought food and snacks. He talks for maybe 30 minutes then lights go out and you watch movies. totally chill easy course. Didn't buy the book, aced the tests. Actually learned a little about cinema with no effort.
WOW! Anyone complaining about his class being to hard is obviously facing some real ISSUES. I'd say their brain is working, but you dont even need a brain to ace this class. This class is almost TOO EASY. You basically are getting 3 units and an A for hanging out watching movies. ZERO EFFORT. Guaranteed A. To top it off, bob is a great guy.
ISNT WORKING**
Nice guy but hard to understand. He is nice and makes some jokes from time to time. Tests are easy and they have nothing to do with the readings. And specially on the second test, the study guide is useless.
I dont know if I should feel sorry for him that he is disabled or pissed off that he is disabled. No offense but this man seems to be taking his issues towards his students and frankly, I'm tired of his whining. He used to be a great teacher, but now he's teaching skills are useless.
EASY EASY EASY CLASS! Watching movies is the easiest part. Takes attendance sometimes so don't miss out on those times. But I have to say, "The Phantom of Liberty" was by far the weirdest movie I have ever watched.
nice guy, easy going.
can be really confusing at times. he makes you study way more information than you need to know for the midterm and final. your grade is based on those 2 scores, and like 4 mandatory attendance checks. its easy if you actually pay attention to class and to the movies
The guy is awesome!!!! He got a brain tumor removed and is on the wheel chair so he does't feel well on certain days. Talk 30 mins pop movie in for rest of time!. EASY class. 2 Test and at least 20+ percent extra credits!!!! Must take, awesome first class TFM I'v ever had. I got an A without touching the book.
The guy is awesome!!!! He got a brain tumor removed and is on the wheel chair so he does't feel well on certain days. Talk 30 mins pop movie in for rest of time!. EASY A! Grade is based off midterm, final, attendance, and extra credit. Best class to take to fulfill your Arts requirement!
This class was really fun and low stress.Go to class, read the book, watch the movies, and study and you'll be just fine. There are no surprises on the exams. Grade is based on 2 exams and attendance only. You'll never look at movies the same way again!
Besides showing up, this class required little effort.Attendance isn't mandatory but he does do random sign in sheets. Funny teacher, be patient with him cuz hes been through alot healthwise. You take some notes from the powerpoint in the beginning of each class then watch a film. The films are interesting, some are silent, all are international. T
Very nice professor! He does take attendance at random times, but he asks nothing from you. Easy A. You watch movies and then he'll let you out when the movie is over. Take this class! Midterm and Final were easy.
If you like professors that are 100% geeks, then he is the guy. Fun class that can get boring because some of the movies are boring, but you can take a nap. There are random attendance checks. The test are easy if you pay attention to his lessons, which are pretty fun, because he says a lot of stupid stuff. He is a great teacher and easy class.
Had him for 110, 363 and will now for 364. Absolutely LOVE him. Random attendance checks but he warns you. Only 2 midterms, never over 33 questions. Last semester half the class failed his midterm, so he gave everyone 20% so that all F's became C's. He apologized for giving a hard test, he WANTS you to pass. He's a funny, laid back, great guy.
NICE, I took him last semester and liked him so much that I just signed up for two more of his classes just now (363+364A). Glad to see he is coming back. See you next month Bob! lolz.
VERY FUNNY TEACHER! Even though he has gone through a lot healthwise, he still strives to do his best teaching us about cinema. Makes things clear if you don't understand it. Likes showing movies after lecture displaying things learned from it or if he just wants to. Random attendance checks are done so don't plan on ditching everyday! Take him!
Mr. Jordan is an awesome cinema teacher. The class is fun to be in, funny teacher, and he is very clear in his lectures. His tests aren't that bad, only 25-30 ?'s. Just as long as you look over notes, read the book, you'll do fine. By the way, I have an Understanding Movies 10th ed by L. Giannetti I'm selling for $20. Check on craigslist.com.
Nice guy, uses the same comedy lines every day - but still funny. As long as you take good notes, study them, and read the book you'll be fine. The tests are from 2-30 Q's which is nice.
this class was very easy. i only went the first day and then on test days and i still got an A
YO MAN ! This dude is easy if you want an A just go to class everyday cause attendance is 10% of your grade. Then 3 tests of multiple choice and true /false questions is 90% just listen in class and watch the movies even though it's torture. He uses specific actors' names so pay close attention to the actors he mentions! Highy recommend if you want to have an easy class
this is guy is really easy, he only takes attendance 5 times and make sure that you are there when he does cause its worth 10% of your grade. tests are pretty easy if you pay attention and take good notes on lecture. he seems really serious at times but hes just trying to make you study really hard. i got an A barely studying the night before
He is a great guy. He wants you to study for his exams and will do his best to help you understand what is cinema, even after all he's been thru. I wish him well.
I loved this class. I took it in the summer and we watched movies almost every week. I got A's on all the tests, but I read the entire book and studied both my notes and his power points. He's funny and wants the best for his students. He's a really good guy.
Another semester comes to an end. This is my third class having Bob and yes, he is still the man. Take him for as many classes as you can and I promise you will thoroughly enjoy his laid-back teaching. Great movies and hot women sitting all around me - what more can you ask for? See you in 364B, BOB!
Like all the comments said. He's a nice guy, this is an easy class, just attend, listen to his lecture and study for the test with his study guide. It works out in the end.
Easy A for the upper-division GE. Does a short lecture and the remaining of the class is watching a film. Be prepared to listen to Bob's jokes as sometimes he'll go off topic. He's nice and helpful. He takes attendance at 5 random times throughout the semester which counts as extra credit points. 1 midterm and final. All multiple choice.
This is my second class with professor Jordan, love him! People are so rude and need to shut up in class. He gives a short lecture and you watch movies. Midterm and a final, gives extra credit for random attendance and helps with extra points. VERY nice and fun class. Take him, you wont regret it! Thanks Mr. Jordan!!!
This class is extremely easy. All you have to do is go to class, watch movies, and write down a few lecture notes. He rambles about random stuff but over all, he is very entertaining and will def make you laugh. Go to class because he offers random attendance extra credit. The tests are EASY! Just do the study guide. And use the book.
If you want an easy A this is definitely the class for you. If you don't get an A, you probably shouldn't be at SDSU. However, if you have any interest in learning anything at all take another class.
Easiest A in all SDSU. 1 Midterm 1 final midterms online.
Everyone says its easy. But its only easy if you study your notes before the exam (midterm/final).Lectures would seriously last 20min if he would just stop ranting about nonsense and trying to be funny. This class is okay.
If you put the time, I guarantee you an A+. This class is a breeze, and if you do well enough at the beginning, you may not even have to study for the final! Gives tons of opportunities for extra credit, and really cares for students to get A+. If you get lower than a B, is bcs you slept rather than paying attention. He might go off topic sometimes
Easy class but he rambles too much for my taste. I wish he would just get the lecture done with in 20 minutes instead of yelling at the whole class for an hour cuz some kid is playing on his laptop. Interesting class, but tedious to sit through.
Looked forward to this class from what people said about how easy and great he is..WRONG!Idk what happened with Bob but he's not the guy everyone said he was. He rants too much and wastes time and clearly cant handle a big class. He gave us a very confusing final and although i read the book and studied a lot i got a B. I regret taking this class.
Everyone had told me about how great this class/teacher was but nope. He's the worst teacher i've experienced at state. Would spend half of lecture yelling at people complaining about his students, making fun of the people in the back, etc. Went to every class, paid attention and still did bad. Had a confusing final. Don't recommend this class.
He keeps his grading method a secret and will fool you into thinking you might get a good grade. I think he's angry and gets off on giving bad grades. He probably hates that these classes are viewed as easy A's, so he likes to give C's. Makes tests confusing to make them seem difficult.
Was not what I expected. Heard great things but ended up with confusing tests, constantly rambling about nonsense, and he does not know how to calculate grades. I ended up with a B and was supposed to have an A. Drops one test and gives extra credit for attendance. Does not respond to emails either when it comes to grades or anything.
Like previous students have commented, he's very confusing. Says one thing then changes it later. Rants on and on about things not relevant to the class. Also changed how he calculated final grades. Revised the syllabus at least 3 times and deleted postings on blackboard to cover his tracks about things he had said previously.
Like everyone else comments, he is very confusing. He changed everything during the semester. and he always delete it from blackboard so you wouldn't know what has happened. He messed up all the final grade by changing hi method after final!! I was on A and got B- for no reason. he never reply back to your email to solve your problem. awful prof.!!
maybe he was easy before, but not any more. no online midterm or final and 3 exams. He told us before final that he will drop the lowest grade, after final he didn't! after lots of comments he changes his method to a different confusing method but didn't change anybody's grade. he doesn't reply back to emails,
I really dont know what happened to Bob but he screwed us this semester with the final, personally i thought it was just our class he was mad at but i guess his upper division classes suffered the same fate. I recommend taking Farnsley for TFM 160, my friend got an A with him but i got a B with Bob. Previous semesters ratings are now irrelevant.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM. It Was not what I expected. Heard great things but ended up with confusing tests, he constantly rambles about BS, and he doesn't even know how to calculate grades. I ended up with a B+ and was supposed to have an A. Drops one test and gives extra credit for attendance
his grading system is pretty random. although i must say i was pretty happy with my B- after not doing jack in his class all semester. the study guide doesnt match the exams, as the exams were pretty hard. he's pretty mean too. oh well.
perhaps one of the worst teachers i have ever taken....
He is definitely one of the best professors I have ever had at SDSU. You get to watch a movie in his class almost everyday, he's a really cool guy and his class is super fun and easy. There are no assignments. There are only two tests and they are really easy. You do have to read the book but it's a really easy read.
I've had Bob Jordan for 160 and 363. I love him. He's witty and funny and genuinely loves teaching and talking about movies. I've learned a lot from him and seen a lot of movies I probably wouldn't have watched otherwise. A lot of people find him intimidating, but if you ever talk to him he's really friendly and helpful. Take his class!
test is hard, teacher is dumb, class is pointless. He is super HARD NOW. random grader, many people failed last sem. stay away.
avoid like a PLAGUE. this guy is so grumpy, would spend the first 30 minutes of class complaining about how we were such a bad class. gives study guides, and exams were nothing like the study guides. thanks for nothing, bob.
funny, helpful...... take his class, but try not to cheat b/c you'll get caught and he'll have you get kicked out.
Sorry to say this but this class is fun but when it comes to grades, its really random. There were 2 exams, 1 final. I got Ds because I didnt understand his words in the exam even though I went to his study guide, a little helpful. Most of the class failed because of how he grades. Got a C but I expected a B or better. Beware of Jordan!
He goes on tangents most of the time during his lectures and hardly stays on topic. His grading is also inconsistent and some of the questions on his tests are worded weirdly. He also gives out random pop quizzes so try to come to every class. He says you need the book but I found all the topics on Google. To sum up, don't take this class.
Super confusing tests and grading. Took him because I heard very good things from him from a couple years ago but he was the total OPPOSITE. I guess he changed because everybody said it was an easy A, but geez that's not our fault. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! Only class I've ever regret taking.
His class is not as easy as everyone says it is. That being said, GO TO CLASS and STAY IN CLASS. DON'T leave in the middle of it. It shouldn't even have to be said. But if you want a good grade you need to show up, not only because of what he teaches; he also quizzes randomly for attendance. Fun class, he's passionate but not as easy as you'd think
His first test was hard, but the other two were super easy. He gives out a lot of EC. You just have to go to class for info and because pop quizzes are worth a lot and they're pretty easy. And some textbook needed depending on the test. Got over 100% in the class. I recommend it. And don't try to text during movies!
Easy, but not too easy. Go to class, watch the movies, and study for tests. His final is almost exactly like his study guides. Kinda hard still though. At least he's beautiful.
Prof Jordans class is super easy here is all you have to do to get an A: GO TO CLASS and Stay the whole time. He gives out random pop quizzes that will make or break you and he usually gives them out at then end of class or a long movie. The people on here that didnt do well have no one to blame but themselves for not going to class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! He is the worst teacher at state! His tests are confusing and have nothing to do with the material we learned. This is the only class in my life I have ever failed. His lectures are boring, and considering it is a movie class we never watch movies. Take the other teacher!
Poor clarity of lectures, with much repeated material week to week. Earnestly tried to be helpful, but clarity prevented that. Good class if you want to catch up on films since 1960.
This would've been a great class if he weren't the teacher. Jordan is super unclear about things and his tests have nothing to do with what you would think they'd be about. I got a B in the class, but I would've done better with another teacher, most likely.
I only showed up for the first few classes and tests, and it's the easiest A I've ever recieved. He gives super easy assignments and the tests are easy to study for, if you take the time to study. Jordan offers insightful comments upon classic movies that made the class quite interesting and enjoyable. Also, he's funny.
Please keep in mind the students who said he is unclear were also the ones who didn't show up to class. If you listen at the start or end of every class, Jordan goes over due dates, and gives secret tips about the final. There are no projects so you don't even have to worry about that in this class! Jordan does know his content.
He's a great person! Pay close atention to the movies, bc he may asked on tests what color was the background! took this class over summer, and it was not hard, not super easy. got a B, but wasnt trying that hard. Great class to kill time, movies are old, but great :)
Attend class because he does go over everything needed to pass. He tends to ramble and it's hard to distinguish what he'll put on the test but just pay attention and you'll be fine. He's a pretty easy grader and is passionate about what he does. Buy him Mountain Dew and you'll be his best friend.
Jordan's class is mainly about watching the movies. There is not a lot said in his lectures, but he does give away a few answers that are on the test. The first test was difficult and mainly consisted of info straight out of the book, however he did realize the class did pretty badly and gave some credit back. If you take this class read the book!
This class is set up to be VERY easy. However, this class can be deceitfully easy. Not walking out in the middle of class will be helpful in the long run and as long as you watch all the movies, do all the "homework" assignments, and put a just little bit of time into the class it is a guaranteed A.
Bob is a cool professor, in class its a short lecture before/after the film. The bad thing is that with little homework assigned & midterms/finals so difficult, its hard to ensure your grade. Midterm/final open book but that helps only slightly, as its only 30 questions, many which involve terms never covered & films never seen.
I found every film online so theres really no need to be in class. Just watch each film, thoroughly fill out study guides (midterm/final open book, tip: color code post-it tabs in accordance with each film genre), & attend review class meetings. Exams are still pretty tough though. Save reading until study guide to save time during the semester.
Read the book if you want to get an A.
Easy class. It's as simple as that. You turn in worksheets on the movies you watched in class the week after. A multiple choice midterm and final which you can use your book on. The people who thought the tests were hard are the people who left class early all the time. Just stay in class and you'll be fine. And the movies are interesting too.
super easy class. He talks for like 20 minutes then shows a movie. You have to go to class every week though because you have to turn in worksheets from the textbook he wrote. His midterm and final are a joke, they had like 15 questions each. There's also 2 essay which are incredibly easy. If you're looking for an easy A, take this class.
Great class but I hate how it was at night, I always fell asleep I was so tired. You watch awesome movies but he has you fill worksheets at the end of class, so attend class! His tests are 20 questions long so be warned, if you miss a few you're done for.
GREAT CLASS. You have workbook pages to do after each movie, that are not very difficult. In addition you have a midterm and final that are not very complex.
awesome teacher , really easy. I recommend it for an easy letter grade
Deceptively easy class. Only is it easy if you actually show up and watch the movies and make an effort to pay attention to what he has to say. If you do this, you're golden. If not, then you will find this class to be harder then you expected. Do the worksheets. Pay attention in class. Actually stay and show up. Jordan is a great guy, respect him
People give him such a hard time but honestly he is such a nice and funny guy. If you take him just stay for the movies! If you don't you honestly will fail both of the tests. Besides the midterm and the final the only other assignment is the worksheet from the movie you watch. He will most definitely make you laugh, Bob is a good guy.
very easy class. just show up watch films, read essay,&complete worksheet. 1 midterm, 1 final (nonculmative). honestly if you watch the movies & read the essay it will be a breeze. def add 2 more units to your schedule bc this class won't even feel like class. good and funny guy. ppl give him a hard time idk why. Bob is amazing. recommend, easy A
Only a midterm and a final for tests. Mini assignments were due every class (once a week), but they were super easy and I'm pretty sure you always get full credit. Lectures are long and boring most of the time, but possibly because I wasn't that interested in the subject matter. Super easy to pass.
Lectures can be long and boring but if you go to class, take notes, and read the book you will definitely get an A. It is an easier class but you still need to know the material.
This class is very easy as long as you show up to class and do all of the worksheets and earn extra credit. Jordan is not the most interesting or best teacher, but he gets the job done and it is definitely an easy A.
A movie for each class with a few lecture notes either before or after the movie. Professor Jordan is a funny professor, just buy his book, complete the worksheets, turn those in EASY POINTS. His midterm and final are not as difficult, just make sure you understand key terms and the plot of each movie. Do the EXTRA CREDIT, his class EASY A.
Really easy class. A lot of people ditch once the lights go off for the movie & he was so bothered by it that he would randomly give out extra credit for staying til the end. He gave a lot of other extra credit too and "nice guy" points. His tests are really specific though. I got a B on the 1st exam, failed the final BUT STILL GOT AN A.
Bob Jordan can't stand people who don't listen. He gives out four quizzes and weekly worksheets on films. Don't use your phone in class.
Easy A, just need to read the essays in the class textbook and get notes from someone that went to class (because you won't). He can't stand anyone under the age of 40, but is overall a cool guy as long as you never do anything stupid or anger him in any way. Don't ask too many questions, look at the syllabus when in doubt, and watch Donnie Darko.
The only reason I rated him low is because near the end of the semester communication got pretty bad and confused many students. Overall is a good guy and obviously likes the subject. Do the work and you will get a good grade.
Took this class for extra units. Thought it would be an interesting class, I would recommend taking this class if you like to watch movies a lot and analyze them. The tests are not that easy but you will do fine if you read his book and study the notes. He certainly doesn't take any excuses and will kick you out if you are on your phone.
Some of the films are available to watch on netflix, amazon etc. Make sure to watch them all & read his text book bc if you don't, you will not pass the quizzes. Quizzes are straight from the films. Worksheets due from his book every class based on films watched. Not a hard class at all.
Easy A. Show up to class, watch the movie and Don't use your phone! He will kick you out! Very funny guy, do the readings in his textbook, and complete the homework(seriously takes 15mins). Do not ask him, consult the syllabus first. He expects everyone to follow directions. Gives random EC for going to class and staying the entire time!
This class is great for an easy upper division GE. Bob Jordan is a great, funny, and entertaining professor. Homework due every week (3-4 questions on the movie shown the previous week) and a few tests over the semester. Everything you need to know is in his textbook he wrote (light reading, nothing big). Good guy, easy class.
If you have the option to have any other teacher do it. he's a subpar movie critic at best. I've taken 364A and more with Jordan and the quality of all classes are all equally bad. (given I had to take him because he was the only professor provided). SDSU please hire someone else. The class is an easy A if you go, but he almost make it unbearable
He was alright. His lectures and workbook were heavily biased and opinionated ("this is a true work of art" or "this is the best film ever") and the structure of the class was disorganized. The grading system was pretty confusing as well. Would definitely not take his class again, and would definitely not recommend. I learned almost nothing.
You just watch movies, and it's important to stay because he gives out answers to exam questions after and sometimes extra credit. Lectures before/after are kind of boring. There are also 3 worksheets from the textbook you have to do on the movies. The exams need some studying and are confusing. Don't take this class unless you need to.
The movies covered are really good. He's a nice man who deserves more respect from students. If you take the class stay if you don't want to go, take an online class. The class is easy IF you go AND study the book before the tests. He gives out extra credit sometimes at the end. I got an A but a lot of others didn't because they didn't show up
He is very confused. I took him for TFM364a and b. He made mistakes in grading for both of the classes. He did not follow syllabus, and refused to admit mistakes until a lot of students complained about it. DO NOT TAKE HIM if possible.
Bob is an amazing person and teacher. The movies he brings are up to date and interesting. Honestly, people just don't have any respect because they think it's just a film class. Come to learn, talk to him after class, and show that you care by participating and you'll do fine. Bob does everything he can to make us learn and be engaged. Take him!
Good movies and relaxed class. Take him! You'll learn if you just pay attention and do the worksheets.
Bob Jordan is an interesting professor. He has a very unique, dark sense of humor. I feel like it makes the class a little more enjoyable. You definitely have to show up to class, or at least make sure to watch the films at home if you do not show up. I usually cut out early, but my test grades would suffer because of it. Extra credit offered!
Bob is a nice guy who is passionate about film. Sadly, he has memory problems and will forget things and make errors. He designs very confusing and difficult tests. His words: he expects us to become film critics in his class. Attendance (Coursekey) and the textbook are needed. Expensive! For many, this is an elective class, but it is NOT easy.
This class is pretty chill, you don't have to stay for the movies but it will help with the quizzes. He has started taking attendance though, so be aware of skipping class. He doesn't grade the worksheets very hard. Quizzes/exams aren't bad, just do a decent amount of studying beforehand.
Professor Jordan is probably one of the kindest professors on campus. He knows that his class is very easy; and therefore, expects students to attend class and stay the entire class period. Also, he provides enough (easy) extra credit that it is almost impossible not to receive at least a B-,as long as you attend his classes.
I'll be honest, this guy (as a person not a teacher) is a bit of a pompous dictator. He feels that it is his duty to shame and scorn anyone who walks in late, and will spend more time droning on about his distaste for others than lecturing. knowledgeable, and informed on his topic, but is not that good of a teacher. His ego grades you.
Poor time management; the period is 2.5 hours long and there were several classes where we didn't even finish a 2 hour movie. Lectures were rambling and near-pointless, and a lot of the test questions involved small, easily forgotten details (including the endings of films that we didn't finish). No alternative prof so you just gotta deal with it.
Somehow manages to turn 10 minutes of lecture material into 45 minute rants on the topic.. The slides he shows have almost nothing to do with the quizzes which he gives at the beginning of every class. The quizzes are also on really specific details from the 50 page readings and are easy to miss. Your whole grade is based off the 11 or so quizzes.
I understand his classes arent meant to be film theory-based, but his unacademic, subjective, rambling lecture style can be hard to follow. He throws in too many personal opinions about films and then puts them on the test. I was hoping for a more in depth study on classic films. His book is like a series of unacademic and subjective film reviews.
His class may seem easy on paper, dont be fooled by that. The entire grade for the course was based off two 20 question multiple choice tests. He told everyone that the questions would be objective, big picture concepts. Instead, the test questions were nit-picky, easily forgotten details and on his own unacademic personal opinions about films.
Bob is a pretty cool guy. He likes to ramble on about things not important to the subject, but other than that its an easy class. Just watch the movies in class and read his little one page essays in the textbook and youre fine.
Jordan is overall a weird professor. Seems like he knows what he's lecturing about, and then all of a sudden he's talking about cocaine dealers and baby laxatives. So he rants a bit. Personally, I think that this class should be online. Overall an easy A as long as you pay enough attention to the important parts of his lectures and the shows.
His class was easy. Class was graded by very few tests. The extra credit assignment (which was to watch a play) was worth an entire grade letter which was cool. He definitely goes off on tangents and gets distracted when people walk in late, and I think he thinks its quirky or funny how he responds to people but its really just annoying. Easy A.
He has a dark sense of humor, and he's a easy grader. Class based on 3 tests and each one worth 33% of your final grade, but don't worry they are pretty easy, as long as you read his little eassy. He does offer extra credit, usually a show or just show you have the book. Don't need to go to class. Easy A class overall.
Wow where do I even begin. Never in my 4 years at SDSU have I had such a terrible professor. This class is my hardest class for stupid reasons. First the professor will NEVER answer emails. He is super disorganized. You have no idea what your grade is. Your grade? Well that is based on exams which have very odd and vague questions. AVOID! AVOID!!!!
If you want to take an easy class and not learn anything, this is the class for you. Professor Jordan rambles a lot and his lectures aren't very engaging. He also kept losing our grades and didn't respond to any of my emails. Take this if you need an extra class without a lot of extra work. Otherwise, I'd avoid.
