Excellent teacher. Actually attempts to learn the names of students. Generally wants to help his students excell. Knows what he is talking about and teaches it well. No homework, but a lot of reading. Highly recommended.

Hi, as you can see the donkey who gave him a 1 cant spell. This guy is so cool its the easiest and most informative class ever. If you dont get an "A" you most likely have an error involving chromosome 21 and cant spell (yes this means you).

The only complaint I have is that he gives grades away. Don't work hard cuz you don't need to! He lowers the standards for Saddleback. The students who actually do the work lose out! Grades = F+C=A Go Figure! Jump on for a free ride!

Open book, Open notes - provides sample ques. for tests. If you read the book at least once before the test, you will get A or B. He is extremely entertaining and encouraging. I didn't dare miss one class because he was so much fun. Helpful.

Open book midterm and final, take home essay questions for each -- requires movie watching. This class was a super easy A. Personally, I don't care for Dr. Bob's teaching style -- a little too silly for me, but all in all there were interesting stories to listen to and he's a great guy.

He lets you write your essays before class and use your book and notes for his exams. He even gives you some of the answers. Super easy A, you never have to do any work or go to class. I dont like the fact that you dont have to learn anything to do well. But he’s a great guy; he’s really nice and is always there if you have any questions.

Loved this class! Very informative and had plenty of great examples used in today's field of psychology. Lot's of good films and stressed the importance of writing an APA paper on a topic of your choice. If you desire to get anything out of this class, take it seriously and you will!

I took a class with Dr. Bob during summer school and it was amazing. I've never been more interested, had more fun, or learned as much as I did in that class. Not only is Dr. Bob the greatest professor at Saddleback College, he is the greatest instructor I've ever had. His teaching techniques are outstanding, and incredibly unique. I've learned more from him than I have from all my psychology instructors combined! Dr. Bob makes you feel so much more important than just another student.

It's so funny that when you read the ratings on the professors from the really tough courses, a lot of them score low - why? Because people write negative things when they don't pass - and many do not pass classes like Bio 11 & 12. Dr. Bob rates high only because he's easy. But I don't feel I learned anything. I certainly was not challenged enough!

A fabulous teacher. You watch a lot of video clips which you will be tested on, but open note so take "copious" notes. He cares about his students and wants everyone to get As and builds up their confidence. It's up to you how much you get out of the class. He's brilliant, never question him!

Best professor yet. I took his intro psych course and his abnormal class. The most fascinating classes I've taken. He stayed past 11pm to fill out an academic reference form for me. He wrote killer letters of recommendation for me. TAKE HIS CLASSES!!

I took Dr. Bob's Abnormal Psych class last year and I must say he is a PHENOMENAL Professor!! I just completed a very challenging Psychopathology class in Grad School and I made an "A." this is the only night class i haven't had to literally drag myself to go to. he is a man with a big heart. sometimes he is a little ADD and goes off on a tangent, but mostly he is fantastic. very intelligent and knows his stuff. he really cares about his students (he even brings snacks). and he treats you like family. take him take him take him.

I expected to get a B in this class however came out with an A. Grade is made up of 2 tests (midterm/final) each is 35 multiple choice questions (2 pts each = 70pts) and 3 multiple choice*10-15 essays to choose from) take home essays (10pts each,2pages a piece) Both are open book, open note. Not alot of notes, hope you like videos.

AMAZING TEACHER! The class is very straight-forward. Attendance isnt mandatory but you should go because the videos in class are on the mid-term and final. DR BOB IS SUPERB..As an instructor as well as a human being, a wealth of information! He officially teaches psychology classes, but his skills as a life coach and mentor are unsurpassed. Every professor should aspire to his greatness! I think he only teaches at night, but if you stay up, the experience and his knowledge are well worth it!!

Dr. Bob is the man. He talks really fast, tends to go off subject alot but really cares about his students and wants to give everyone an A. Some of the classes were hilarious, others were boring but his lectures always made it worthwhile. Just read the book and make the 8x10 for the midterm and final and you're golden.

Dr. Matthews is intelligent, helpful and energetic. He knows how to keep his students interested and encourages them to employ their full academic potential. I highly recommend him for Abnormal Behavior.

Dr. Bob is an amazing professor. He loves what he does and he loves his students! He is always upbeat during his lectures and he makes class entertaining. Would definitely take another one of his classes!

Dr. Bob is really cool. Once you get to know him you'll find out that he really cares about his students. He can be somewhat repetitive for clarity's sake but overall is on his game. Not always easy but if you're willing to learn you'll go far!

Dr. Matthews makes class engaging and does show interest in the student's learning. In spite of our very large and short term class, this summer, he tried to talk to students one on one. He also helped us prepare for our tests, and worked with us. Videos were actual true events, and informative for real life. Great teacher and smart man.

DR.BOB! He is the sweetest man I've ever met! He REALLY cares about his students and is so passionate about his work. He really wants each and every one of his students to succeed. LOVED HIM! He is a great and caring teacher. Any questions ask away, send him an email and he will reply fast. The work is not easy, but it's not hard either. You get what you deserve. In the summer course I took there is no homework just two test based on movies, lecture and reading.

I took Dr. Bob's psych 1, psych 37 and currently enrolled in psych 33. He is such an incredibly amazing human being and a great inspiration. His class was the only one I ever looked forward to going to. He cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed in his class and in life. I'm glad I took his classes

I had Dr. Bob for Psych 1 during a time when I was a bad student. Gave me the confidence to help succeed not only in his class, but for all my classes. He definitely cares about his students and will go the extra mile for anybody that is interested and puts in the time for the material. For Vets, he is a great fit, cause he was in the Marines.

Dr. Bob is honestly one of the greatest teachers I have had during my college experience at Saddleback. If you are interested in psychology, this is your man! Dr. Matthews' reviews speak for themselves. Hands down, he is the best professor at Saddleback. His lectures are fascinating. He is a practicing psychologist who is highly educated, super intelligent, and above all, he has a big heart. Reward yourself and take at least one class with him.

Professor Matthews is simply one of the best teachers I have ever had. I wish he taught all of my subjects. His life stories are fun, interesting and always helpful for you in understanding a subject he is discussing in class.

Dr. Matthews is great! I wasn't sure about taking this class but very glad I did. If u attend class, take good chapter notes u are most likely to walk away with at least a "B" at the end of semester. He really cares about his students doing well. Take his class you'll be happy u did. More professors s/b like him. His class has been a pleasure :D

Dr. Bob is a really engaging teacher whose care for his students is incredible. I had his 3 hour, twice a week summer class and he made it exciting to go. Tests were very student friendly. He will expect you to read very chapter and he doesn't really review all of it in class, but he lets you make your own crib sheet to bring. Great experience

Dr. Bob is honestly one of the most caring and passionate teachers I have ever had. He really cares about every single one of his students and wants them to do your best. He will work with you with ANY situation. Hes funny, and sometimes gets a little off topic, but the things he talks about are fascinating! Loved Dr. Bob! TAKE HIM!

Dr. Bobbers is awesome! :) One of the best teachers there is. Do yourself a favor and take his class. As long as you're respectful and willing to work along you'll have an awesome time. He'll go the extra mile as long as you show some initiative. Plus it's comedy central at his class! :) You practically have to try to fail his class. Full of spirit

Possibly my favorite teacher of all time. Truly cares about his students, loves what he does and wants you to get an A. He truly is an inspiration, do yourself a favor and take his class for a semester, trust me you wont regret it.

Abnormal psych with Dr. Bob was awesome. He taught us well and had those who listened and paid attention come out with A's. Go to his class and do the light work load and you will do well. Take Dr. Matthews!!!

Took the 7-10 night time class, 1 day a week. Some group discussions, no hw, interesting and easy class. I ending up getting a B. 1 midterm & 3 short papers + 1 final & 3 short papers. Papers are based on the videos. There is a video every week.

If you're considering taking psych 37, make sure it's with Dr. Bob. His lectures are very entertaining, we watch videos directly related to the material, he's really funny, he has plenty of experience of personal stories to relay, and he responds to emails within minutes-2 hours, even around midnight. Be prepared to be an expert by the end of term.

If you are able to take Dr. Bob you will not regret it! amazing teacher with great stories/experience. Overly helpful, and so much fun. this is a class you will WANT to go to!

Dr. Bob's Psych 1 class was very enjoyable. He has endless energy and keeps his students attention. He has a vast amount of experience and knowledge in Psychology. He really cares about each and every one of his students. You will always feel welcome in Dr. Bob's class.

I liked the class, but it was rather too easy; he is energetic and funny (loved him) but you don't have to be on top of your game to get good grades so I didn't study for it at all and I got an A anyway. I would have liked it better if it was more challenging but for those who are seeking just fun easy A classes- this is it!

Dr. Bob is the most caring proffessor I have ever had! He is so funny and happy every single class! He will e-mail you back right away and is very clear about what he wants. Psyc 1 was an easy A for me, just pay attention to the videos in class and take notes and you will get a B at least:)

Dr. Bob is absolutely fantastic. He will go out of his way to make sure you can handle everything that is going on. I took his class concurrently with high school and he understood that sometimes I would have to leave early to ensure I could finish all my work, and he would have no problem sending me notes or anything. Definitely take!

Out of all the courses I have taken in my life I have never had a teacher so empathetic, caring, and energetic. His teaching is phenomenal and he truly wants students to get and understand the material. He is there for you when you need help and truly cares. I highly recommend Dr. Bob. Extremely easy. Rambles about random things. 1 mid term with essays. 1 final with essays. I didn't study for the midterm or final at all and got 98 on both. Gives extra credit. AND he is extremely entertaining.

Very good professor. Fun class with light work load and he never let's us get bored. Took his abnormal behavior class and he really knows his stuff. It helped that he is very hot

Great human, not so organized. Had a hard time getting back emails and stayed after class with 5 other students for 15 minutes just trying to understand the guidelines for extra credit. To get a good grade in this class do all the extra credit offered and go online to study the cengage chapter quizzes because there's no real study guide.

Dr.Bob =the very best professor I've experienced. He is energetic,empathetic & wholeheartedly the most loyal professor ever. He answers emails the fastest I've ever seen. Dr. Matthews is great! He really cares and wants his students to understand the concepts and also how they apply in real life psych careers. He shares info & stories from his years of experience as a clinical psychologist. He's responsive, encouraging & offers extra credit. Read the book, participate, be honest, be on time and enjoy it!

Dr.Bob is great ! He offers a lot of e.c. and really cares about his students and helps them out in any way he can. His stories are amazing and he's so down to earth and nice. Just kind of read the chapters and try on the tests. There's a midterm, final, and a research paper that makes up your grade, but do all of the e.c and you should get an A!

This class is simple. Do your reading + show up for class + do well on tests A The only thing I found challenging about this class is that there is no homework. Only one midterm, one final, and a 10 page paper. So your whole grade depends on the two tests. If you fail the tests, you fail the class.

Couldn't have picked a better Psych 1 teacher. Make sure you read your book as instructed or you'll regret it later. other than that, awesome teacher. Hilarious and very understanding.

I was originally enrolled in an online class when I decided to go to ratemyprofessors. I'm so glad I did. After seeing the reviews on Dr. Bob, I immediately switched classes and enrolled in his Abnormal Psych class. He genuinely cares for his students, will keep you engaged with his energetic lectures, & is extraordinarily experienced in his field

He is more than helpful

I would definitely recommend Dr. Matthews for Psychology 1. He has interesting lectures, very helpful and keeps the class involved. He is the kind of professor that wants you to enjoy the class and material and will do everything to make sure you understand the lectures. The tests are mostly out of the book so you have to read the chapters to pass.

Best class I've taken! I took his Saturday class, Dr Bob is always wide awake and ready to go! Super helpful with any type of problem or question, super understanding with personal problems, makes psych fun, doesn't way you down with unnecessary homework!

Dr. Bob is very inspirational, a beautiful soul and a great person to be around. He is energetic and keeps his lectures interesting. The only bad thing is that he is very unclear about what he expects of his students. No one in the class seems to understand what they're suppose to be doing. There is no homeworkstudy guides so it's hard to study.

Dr. Bob's the most charismatic and caring professor I've ever had. He makes sure that the class's energy levels are high and keeps us fed every morning. Yes, he brings the class food! Take him, you won't regret it! :) He doesn't provide a schedule on the syllabus so it can get confusing but just ask him and he'll be glad to help you

Matthews only had two tests, the midterm and the final. It was all pretty easy. He's also one of the best teachers that's at saddleback. Class was really easy. Had lots of fun. He also gave out lots of food during the entire semester. With the exams, we had to turn in a couple of essays. Two pages, with three subjects, then a 5 page research paper.

Professor Bob is very caring and nice. His class is fun and interesting. He always brings snacks for everyone so we can stay alert and learn a lot for 3 hours of class. He lectures by giving examples and telling interesting stories. There are many extra credit opportunities. I recommend you take his class if you want an enjoyable experience.

Great and caring professor! Loved his class, had a night class and his aid was bringing cookies to every class. Overall he is a great guy and definitely knows a lot, very caring to students and understands that things happen if you won't make it to class or something. Would love to take him again anytime if I need a class.
