He is the best professor I've had so far, his lectures are very interesting and clear. He actually made me want to keep going with psychology classes. His tests are easy 2. Overall great teacher!

The best part about professor Bob (as i like to call him) is genuine smile he puts on during class. A man full of glee who obviously loves teaching this subject, you can't go wrong with melara. His tests are beyond easy, an despite this, the student still feels engaged and learned after Bob's lectures.

The absolute best teacher at city college and i'm just a freshman!! His explanations are superb and I look forward to having him as a professor again!!

Bob is a great teacher. he engages the class, makes jokes, and keeps everyone interested through every lecture. his textbook tests are fairly easy (even lets you bring in a 'cheat sheet'!) and his papers are easy as long as you know how to follow instructions. defintely one of the best classes i've ever had.

YOu have to have serious mental problems to fail this class. His quizzes are super easy and people are cheating out loud and he doesn't say anything. His test are easy and his review section tells you everything. Easy class to take and an easy A.

we might have cheated on the quizes, but the purpose of them was 2 make us pay attention to the lecture, which we all did. He teaches in a way that doesn't make u feel forced to study but actually enjoying it. a lot of tests and quizes which makes u understand and memorize the material, simply great professor and wonderful class. TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Easy professor, almost impossible to fail this class, i didnt even read the textbook and managed to get a B. Only thing is if you take him for only the lecture and u have a TA, hope you get a good TA.

Easy professor. Gives an easy open note quiz at the end of lectures. Lectures are entertaining and fun. I enjoyed his class the most. You will have to write 3 papers and take 3 exams. But he outlines the papers and the exams are all multiple choice. You also have to take recitation class taught by a TA, hope you get an good one.

Unlike many other professors at the City College, this lecturer is very knowledgeable and organized. He incorporates into his lectures audio visuals and other outside material, making each class a pleasure to attend. I hope you get a good TA...

Fun and easy professor, but you can learn a lot if you want. All graded material is pretty much 100% standardized (mostly multiple-choice), so while your TA can be a moron, he/she won't affect the course's easiness. Bob is also responsive to questions himself, so a poor TA isn't necessarily disastrous.

A really excellent lecturer, very organized and interesting. All professors should be so good! Expectations for the class are clear, no unpleasant surprises. Recitation isn't much fun, but at least it's only once a week.

Very easy class. Just study his notes (or you can get it from somebody who had him before). Open book test. In class quizzes are easy, he usually gives you the answer before he gives you the question.

HE is a GREAT GUY and Professor. This class was one of the easiest I have ever taken. The work load is not a lot and only 3 papers and 3 exams. Bob is a funny dude, his lectures are awesome, you don't even want to sleep in them. My T.A Natasha was also great, very easy grader, not some new teacher trying to prove something.

Hes the BEST!!!! Hes funny and keeps the lectures engaging so you wont fall asleep. He makes you fall in love with psychology! Just make sure you hand in all ur papers, hws, reasoning exercises, and do ur subject pools. And be there for the class for the quizzes. Highly recommend him, best psy. professor in CCNY! My TA, Brian was also great, hes helpful, nice, and funny.

He is one of the best teachers I've had so far. He is funny, an easy grader, gives extra credit, has office hours and etc... He gives three papers to write that are easy, and three exams. These exams are mostly vocabulary tiped exams. Very interesting class. I highly recomand that you take him as your Prof. you will be glad that you did.

This was a great class. I learned a lot about human nature. The movies he showed us were cool. However, this class has many assignments. He calls his tests "fun" but it's a lot of work. Still, he and the TA's were helpful. I highly recommend him.

Easy A- no way anyone can fail. He gives an open notebook quiz every lecture-for attendance use mostly. 3 -super easy reports, 3-50 mulitple choice quest tests. Gives extra credit if u participate in research. Homework is very easy.

The lectures were a lot of fun, even in a large lecture hall. His lectures were never boring-- even when discussing perception (a topic I hate). The work was very easy and the grades were very forgiving. However, in no way was the work "busy work." I learned a lot from example's. My TA (Kate) was also amazing. In short, take this class!

he takes the easy route to being "the good guy," meaning that he blames his TAs for inconsistencies on quizzes and the general lack of organization in his courses. he def skipped ethics in college as he makes his students write papers if they fail to participate in studies and can be a bit of a perv.

Psy is a very interesting subject you must pay attention in the lectures though BUT that won't be a problem!!! You'll laugh your way to an A.

B for Bob

Bob is great.The wondeful thing about Bob is that he respects students. A very nice person. However, the problem is Bob doesn't grade any exams or papers. The TA does and some of them are very bad in explaining and tough in grading. I was lucky but my friends who took different TA suffered.

Bob has one of the most important qualities of a great teacher. He has a love of the subject, and you can tell he truly enjoys his job. Add in his jokes and a lot of interesting subject matter, and this class is well worth taking.

B for bob. You have to go to all the lectures and take quizes everyday. All you have to do is cheat with your friends lolzz... he's the man! The TA i had was ughh... that's why i didn't do so well in the class. Bob is a good teacher, but the TA's might mess you up in the class. Take the class, but make sure you have friends that can help you.

Bob is incredible, however, the class is not as easy as you may think because you have to be ontop of your game everyday. There are everyday quizzes, three exams, three papers, 12 homeworks, subject pool, 5 labs, etc. My TA was Gregg - nice guy!!!

THE T.As are HORRIBLE!! BE CAREFUL who u get...bob is a good instructor, when taking this class make sure that you stay on top of it and do all assignments he assigns alot of stuff and you will get quizzed daily...there are labs and exams and papers and also homeworks every week, he is one of the professors that think you are only taking his class.

BOB makes the class interesting even if there are 400 ppl in the class... Quiz everyday but its open book. 3 tests which you get the notes online and 3 papers that are easy. You have to get lucky with TA as some are better than others. But overall if you do the work you are guaranteed an Easy A. Enjoy the psych!!!!

Bob is a really good professor. He explains everything really well and if you need help he is there to offer it. He writes down all his notes during the lecture so you know exactly what to study for the exams. Most of the exam questions come from the clicker questions during lecture. You gotta read the book and do the homework.

Attendance is mandatory so buy the clicker for cheap online not at the bkstr. Borrow the txtbk. Other than hw and papers it was useless.Custom ed bk is same as regular except with fewer chapters. Pay attn in class, write down clicker q's, do his practice exams, and review sheet. Do yr own hw. To do well on recitation quiz, read txt for that day.

Could've been so much better... Melara is a wonderful Professor, but this class is ridiculously demanding. 32 Quizzes, 12 homeworks, 3 papers, 3 tests, mandatory attendance, mandatory book and mandatory experiment participation. I learned so much more at other courses that were not so much over grades. Too bad, he is really a great Professor.

BOB is Awesome. He is nice, helpful, and extremely funny. His class was a blast. In lectures we had quizzes where every one practically cheated. We also had three "Fun Paper", and three "Fun Test". Before each test you can take the review practice test and some of those questions end up on the test. Make sure you read the textbook!!!

Great professor. Terrible at keeping up with his TA's but if you land a great TA then your set! If not buddy up with someone who has a great TA! Other than that. He is great lecturer no doubt about it. But the way his TA grades its really hard to Ace in this class. Because he gave quiz on every lecture. with it 12homeworks, 5labs, 3papers,3 test and also 6% of extra credit.Basically diving the grades in soo many homeworks and quizes and papers labs tests makes the grade lower. So engineering major careful.

Bob is the best professor at City College. He teaches with clarity and at the student's speed. The best and easiest way to do well on exams is go over lecture notes he post on blackboard at least one week in advance and you wont get lower than an 85. In addition, attend the review sessions, the TA's will review questions exactly from the exam.

One of the best professors at City College. Usually, I don't like coming to lecture classes but his class was different. It was interesting and I never fell asleep. Yes, there is a lot of work for his class but it is doable. For his exams, just take pictures from the lecture quizzes and study from there. Simple as that

I really hate lectures in general but wow, his lectures really were the best. He never made me fall asleep. Even though I would walk into lecture with only 2 hours of sleep, he wouldn't make me doze off or space out. He's very clear with his explanations, great examples, and attractive (well to me)! Bob is The BEST!! At first, i thought that the class was gonna be tough, but it turn out to be an easy class. There were three exams and three fun papers. The Final was not cumulative. Everything on the exam was based on his notes. For the Fun Paper, he would give you a chance to re-write it again if you attend the review session. TAKE HIM!!!

Bob Melara was a great professor, the bad part was his Teaching Assistants, they are the ones that grade you. Besides that, lectures were fun, you won't fall asleep in class (Promise!) Really nice and understanding professor! Demos were the best! Read the book because it'll make it easier for you when reviewing for a test.

He is an amazing professor. He makes every lecture interesting (some sexual jokes), while throwing you a lot of course materials. You will laugh at every lecture, i promise! Three five to six page papers, which are quite hard. But you can do BB extra credit that adds about six points to your final gpa. Test are tough but straight forward. take him!

Definitely worth taking if you're looking for a liberal arts elective. Such an interesting class and Professor Bob makes it sooo much better. There are 3 papers which do require you to think but you have the chance to rewrite the first two for a better grade. There are 3 tests and homework. Take this class! Its an Easy A if you do your work!

There are notes on blackboard. Only cons are the use of clickers and the requirement to write Fun Papers, but nothing like a few visits with SI would hurt. SI are always there to prep for Fun exams and help revise first two Fun Papers and resubmit. Homework always get you 100 unless you miss a due date or two. Fun quizzes during lectures helps.

Great professor! Interesting and clear lecture where he gives useful notes. He sets up useful workshops and TA meetings that help a lot. Gives a lot of opportunity to make up or redo the paper. Make sure you do the papers, they're not hard but their worth quite a bit. I missed the first one so I couldn't get an A. Very enjoyable class!

Lecture classes can be boring but Professor Melara is very energetic and definitely keeps everyone interested with video clips, charts, etc. This is a two part class though, so for every lecture theres a 3-5 question quiz (not hard at all), as for recitation classes theres homework due every week and sometimes a lab. Overall great professor!

Take Bob if you really have a thing for psych. His lectures are fun, intriguing, for me to say the least. It doesn't get boring because he's hilarious. This class can be a lot of work bc of quizzes every lecture hw every week, 5 labs, and 3 papers but I don't think this class was that hard like most ppl say. Just take him if u plan to put in effort

Professor Melara is a very enthusiastic and interesting lecturer, however, the class is not very easy. Many topics on the tests are not covered during lectures and requires you to read and learn from the book on your own. The papers are difficult and time consuming. Everything from homework to lab is graded by a TA who are usually apathetic.

Why aren't all professor like him! Very amazing lecture to attend to. Read the syllabus and understand how grading works. Test aren't everything for this class.

This is what all professors should be like. I think he's absolutely hilarious and his lectures are very intriguing. I actually learned things in a way that the material was encoded into my long term memory (Thats on the last test). There are clicker questions every class and lots of HW. Fun papers and exams will make you or break you. i love bob.

Best professor I had at CCNY by far. This is probably the EASIEST liberal arts classes ever and you won't regret taking it. I've received an A for studying the day before exams, writes papers and before its due date. Attendance is mandatory (taken by a clicker) and his daily quizzes are extremely easy (pay attention to lectures).

Be sure not to miss too many classes, more than 5 and you're given an automatic F. However, very clear, skimmed the textbooks and i was fine on the exams. Don't miss out on the homework, it really boosts your grade. He also gives lots of extra credit, amazing speaker, and it's very difficult to do poorly in PSY 102 class.

This class requires work but not too much. Answers for homeworks and papers can be found online but be careful because you have to learn those stuff for quizzes and tests.

Bob is an awesome professor. But, sadly he will not be the one doing the grading. TAs grade HW, essays, and labs. Some TAs are good while others are straight terrible. Tests are done by the clickers. I got 60s on all my tests, but the extra credit saved me, so make sure u do all of them. Also, gave a 2 point curve on the overall grade. Justworkhard

Bob lectures are amazing, he is entertaining, amusing and is very funny. He related the topic in class to real world scenario's and inspires you to look in deeper into psychology. He is not the one who gives the grades though TA's grade and some are better than others, some grade differently. Bob does paper rewrite and is very clear with grading.

He's a brilliant lecturer who does a great job teaching the material. He didn't convert me to a Psych major, but he did make me appreciate the topic. BE SURE to take advantage of the extra credit opportunities, especially the blackboard quizzes which are basically free points. Putting in some (but not outrageous) amount of effort will get you an A.

Bob is awesome. His lectures are great and you won't get bored. Do not get too confident about his fun papers because they are long and need a lot of thinking. There is hw due every week, but he drops like 4 of them and gives extra credit. Also, his tests are multiple choice and not cumulative.

Bob is a very funny professor, he will entertain you throughout the whole lecture. What's bad about his class is that he gives 3 papers that are long and boring. The TA's grades them harshly and most of them are bad, but the good thing is if you do bad on the papers you can have a redo. Overall great class, I would recommend him!

However, Bob is hilarious throughout his lectures and also connects the information to current events in order to make it easier for his students. GIVES CHANCES TO REWRITE PAPERS! DROPS 4 GRADES! GIVES EXTRA CREDIT! MUST TAKE! HE WON'T DISAPPOINT!

There is 6 points of extra credit, 3 papers, 3 tests (non-cumulative), no final, and you can rewrite every paper for full credit. Even if you get a 55 on your first submission, you can rewrite a paper for a full 100. The amount of extra credit is ridiculous, and Bob is pretty funny. I really enjoyed the class. Take it, easy A if you pay attention.

It is HONESTLY very difficult to fail this class. Yo can only fail if you slack off, or just decide to not go to class (which is a terrible idea I speak from experience). Overall it should be one of the easiest and worthwhile classes you would take!!

He gives you every chance there is to pass. There is 6 points of extra credit and you get the chance to rewrite your papers. You get homework and a quiz every class but just pay attention and you will do good. If you mess up don't worry he drops some of your lowest grades. The only way you can hate this man is if you don't try.

If you do not put effort into this class you will not pass. The homework's are heavy. Depending on your TA they may grade you strictly. 3 papers and quizzes in every class. The exams are difficult and you have to study.

You will have to work really hard NOT to pass this class. It is not an easy A though. You get a lot of assignments, but he gives a ridiculous amount of extra credit, you get rewrites for your papers, great SI review sessions, he drops a ton of grades, lecture quizzes are open book and open discussion, the lectures are fantastic. Just take him, ok?

Overall amazing professor. Very professional as well as having a great sense of humor. His great at capturing students attention even if it is 500-600 of us.

Professor Bob gives great lectures, he knows how to make the material really engaging. He is so hilarious. Don't miss any class because it affects your grade and also some of the test questions come from the quiz questions. He gives a lots of homework and gives quizzes every class. You will learn a lot about pyschology but are going to stress out.

he is a very funny professor who makes lectures entertaining and is very engaging as for workload there are weekly homework assignments and 3 term papers but there is a lot of extra credit that definitely helps make sure you do them!

The best lecture teacher at City. He is super interactive and loves to give pop in class quizzes over the material he discusses in class. There are three papers; super easy, just follow his directions. Tons of extra credit and informative TA Sessions every Friday. BOTTOM LINE: He wants you to pass and is a super chill guy.

Make sure you have a clicker before taking this class. He's awesome and he kinda reminds me of Bill Nye. The "Fun Papers" are annoying but easy. As long as you study for the tests they're easy too. It's super easy to take notes on his lectures because he writes notes out. Easy A.

Best psych professor (professor in general) that i've taken at ccny. He makes learning the material fun and easy to understand. He's also funny. Take him, you won't regret it!

He is a great lecturer, but he gives a lot of work. He gave three papers, three tests, 12 HW assignments and around 10 labs. I got high 70's on all my exams, but did really good on papers and homework. He gives paper rewrites if you go to SI which is nice of him. Beware of your teaching assistant as some of them are better than others.

Melara was a great person to learn from, he's accessible and willing to help you improve your grade. The topics were interesting and pertinent to current events. There was plenty of homework but most of it was interesting. The reading takes time and you will be asked to know the topic, but there's a lot offered that is of interest.

My favorite professor at ccny, his lectures were always interesting. Majority of your grade relies on the only 3 tests that are given so make sure to study for the tests. Very understanding and you can tell hes one of those professors that genuinely wants all his students to do well in his class. Also easy extra credit is given every week online

Humorous professor! Very comfortable to be in one of his lectures. He may be a bit messy with the lectures in order but he definitely knows what he's talking about. Don't be afraid to ask him a question after class.

3 fun tests, 3 fun papers, tons of homework, tons of in-class quizzes on iclicker app. 3 credits (3 hours) of subject pool. The TA grades your stuff, not the professor. But it's not that hard. You have to read the textbook if you want to do well in your fun tests. The professor is nice and respectable. 2ez. Also pray that you get a cool TA

Quiz everyday, twelve homework assignments, three fun papers, three test, etc. As long as you study, you will pass. There is an extra credit assignment to go with the homeworks, and also for the fun papers if you visit the writing center. Extra credit rarely exist in college, so DO THE EXTRA CREDIT! It turned my grade from a A- to a A+.

Lets get ready to read and study psych. Please take the Fall with Bob he is the sweetest and makes it so easy. The quizzes are easy and you can work with other people. The papers are good but be careful which T.A, (I recommend Genesis) and is also basic knowledge of science. This is not a hardcore science class with flashcards it is common sense.

Professor Melara is a really nice professor. He is really funny and very clear in lectures. If you want to take his class make sure to be ready to read the online textbook and you use it for homework which there are 12 of them. Be ready to buy launchpad and the iclicker. Be ready for 3 fun papers and 3 fun tests.

Bob is a great professor. Going to lecture helps with exams but you still need the textbook for some questions. He is funny and makes the subject interesting. The class is not difficult but is quite a bit of work, with hw every week, three long papers, and three exams. Despite the work, this is the professor you would want for intro to psych.

Really enjoyed the lectures but definitely be ready to study. There are a ton of opportunities to get an A. You get to drop one lab, 2 homeworks, and 4 quizzes. Be VERY careful with plagiarism on the papers. Make sure its under 40%. 6 pts on final grade extra credit and 10 from TA so you have a chance to get up to 16 pts for extra credit.

I found his lectures very interesting/enjoyable though it did not line up with homework/labs. You HAVE to read the textbook on your own. Even though there were a lot of assignments i never found anything overwhelming or extremely challenging.

Bob is probably one of the best professors in all of CCNY. Despite taking the class a year ago, I can still remember many of the concepts in his class simply because his lectures were very interesting. I thought I was going to get a B in his class, but if you participate enough in recitation, he bumps your grade up an entire letter grade.

Bob is so cool. Take his class you will not regret it , he explains thing so well. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

This class is an easy A. If you fail the class then that is YOUR fault, not the professors. Many people like to blame the teachers when in fact they aren't putting in the work. We are allowed to drop 4 of our lowest quiz grades, 2 of our lowest homework grades, we have extra credit, and the fun papers are already outlined for you. Come on

I loved Bob! He's funny, gives good lectures, and overall a great guy. He has quizes every class based on the lecture of that day so as long as you write down whatever he writes, you'll get a perfect score. There is homework due every week and papers every few weeks based on reading and with some math. However these grades depend on your TA.

This professor is very enthusiastic about his teachings. He is willing to help and answer questions his students may have. His exams are not difficult if you take good notes and stay on top of your homework. His "fun papers" are not difficult either if you pay attention and go to recitation as well.

This class is very easy. Bob made the lectures very interesting with his sense of humor. The fun papers suck but so does writing any paper. Easy A class tbh.

He is strict about deadlines, and his work is actually fun if you do them on time. There are quizzes every class about the lecture being taught on that day, not hard at all.

He is a great professor, his class is super easy. He gives weekly homework that can only be completed on LaunchPad. He offers weekly extra credit quizzes.

You won't get any 1 on 1 time, its all through the TAs on your recitation. The asg literally tells you what to write for the 3 papers so they're more like long worksheets. He offers rewrites if you attend the Supplemental Instruction. Daily class "quizzes" to make sure you're paying attention but the questions are so easy. Zoom lecture available 2.

He's a great professor!

I took Professor Melara as a first year student and he was the best professor I've had out of all the others I've taken this semester. His lectures are very interesting, and you will enjoy his lectures if you're someone who has a passion for psychology. I would take him again 10000%.

I took this class fall 2021,It was a fully remote class but he was also teaching in-person as well.He is an amazing professor, easy to talk to.However,most of his TA's are unfair and think that they are the real boss but they aren't.He lets you rewrite papers if you go to the writing center and gives out extra credit.I would love to have him again.

I highly recommend taking Professor Melara's class at least once! He's super fun, and I promise you that the class is easy to pass if you just pay attention. If you can read the chapters of the textbook he assigns, you won't get lost at all. Highly recommend the class even if you're not a psych major and want to try the class out!

really fun class! the papers are essentially worksheets you fit to an essay format and the tests are fairly easy to get a good grade on as long as you actually study the material and take notes

Melara is such a great professor, his lectures are easy to follow, he can be reached so easily and he gives so much extra credit so even if you fail all exams but got good grades on papers and did extra credit you could walk out with a B+ or A-.

Professor Melara's class is manageable if you stay on top of things. The lectures can be dry, but the assignments are straightforward. Unstuckstudy AI helped me prepare for exams efficiently.

Bob has great straight to the point lectures. In my experience taking this course you had to take A LOT of notes. But it was very informative

Highly recommend, he's sympathetic & understanding. uses various media to teach a topic. Everything is clear from the get go, you easily understand what is expected of you. I'm incredibly lazy and dedicated one day for that week's assignments (worked out perfectly for me). Easy. Simple. Understandable. And Bob is Friendly and Approachable

This professor is one of the best science professors in the psychology department. Homework is on Achieve which you have to purchase for $80. He offers extra credit quizzes on brightspace with like 25 questions. During the lecture there is a 10 question quiz, but was very very easy. Ngl one of my favorite classes, and don't forget B for BOB!!

Bob is a good a funny professor that I would a 100% take again, his classes are easy if you pay attention and take notes you going to get a good grade for sure.

The course is very homework heavy with a lot of reading, quizzes, labs etc. These make up a lot of your grade its good to do them, he does give extra credit which can save your grade by a lot. Recitations were my favourite part because lectures were way too big and it was harder to focus. Classes are fun too so I'd recommend the class to anyone.
