Great teacher, not your average bio class, teaches beyond the book
everything online, print hw cause test is just like it. good guy, attend class
Print the modules and study them for the test. Easy class!
he's really INTELLIGENT, do study guides and you'll succeed
If you get B's C's or even D's on tests & do all hw, you can get an A. I did!
SUCH a nice teacher!!!! He's the best! Everything's online so ya gotta keep up
For some reason I got an A even though I did bad on the tests and exams
not very funny, boring lectures, thinks he knows everything
Great lectures, easy class, most of the stuffs online, & open book quizes
Online- open book quizzes, makes biology understandable to non-science majors!
Greatest teacher ever! goes beyon the book. You learn a lot in his class. I rec. him. I you don't get an A or B you are ether stupid or lazy. Class is iteresting and it makes a lot of sense.!!!!
Easiest Bio class ever!! Online Tests and quizzes that you can retake!!!. Funny man. great class.
GREAT TEACHER, PRETTY EASY BECUZ OF ALL THE ONLINE ASSIGNMENTS, BUT HAVE TROUBLE SOMETIMES WITH GETTING IN CONTACT WITH HIM
What a cute little bald man!! I got an A, but I don't really know how. I still remember things from his class though (and I took it fall 2002). That knowledge just won't go away!
great teacher, funny & interesting lectures. online stuff easy.. he curves a paper quiz when the class does bad. you'll def. get an A or B in this class.
Easy Teacher and knows what he is talking about. Grade scale in book is not correct (95=A-) I got a 92 and received an A. If you have to take this biology class, I suggest you get Dr. Pozo.
Online quizes, and exams. In class paper final - but I got like a 70 and still pulled an A! This guy is cool. Will help you with anything and everything! Take this class for an easy A! Just do all the online modules, and quizes. KNOW THEM FOR THE FINAL!
I ended up with a B in his class, although I was really supposed to have a C, he must have bumped everyone up a grade. He's really funny and interesting, I totally recommend him! If you go to lectures and pay attention than you should get an A.
funny guy - makes lectures bearable.. very lenient, overall easy class. just don't forget to do quizzes & modules on time!
interesting lectures, he relates topics w/everyday news and social aspects revolving his students. easy quizes and mid-terms, i totally recommend this class.
AWESOME teacher, super helpful, will go out of his way to help you with anything!
very intelligent, funny man. He tries to keep things interesting, and he relates every day news to his class. You will learn something, whether you want to or not.
easy class, great teacher, online assesments and curves. i got an A and you can too!
GREAT TEACHER. ONE OF THOSE TEACHERS YOU WILL REMEMBER. HE MAKES EVERY CLASS FUN AND INTERESTING. YOU WILL REALLY ENJOY IT!!!!
Nice teacher. He makes his lectures fun. Online tests and emodules. Fun easy class.
EXCELLENT Professor. I must say biology is not my best subject, but I loved the way he explained everything and how he related biology to current events and our daily lives. VERY INTERESTING and EASY CLASS!!
Okay teaching, but IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of. Won't return phone calls or emails.
Professor POZOS is by far the BEST teacher I have. His class is easy to understand and you LEARN. He is more of a friend than a teacher to each of his students. A very understanding and a nice person. TAKE HIS CLASS!
great teacher super easy class!
hes a very helpful teacher and his lectures are pretty interesting. don't buy the book, just read the emodules and lecture notes. easy to get a b, hard to get an a. A's are 95% and above.
Dr. Pozos is a very good professor. Cellular Biology could've been really boring, but he related all of it to current and interesting issues ranging from breast cancer to masturbation! Seriously though, he teaches very useful information and grades well.
Nice guy, don't buy book, clarity needs some work & VERY helpful. Good personality during a test I was stressed out he said to me "Relax. Life is good."
excellent teacher, easy to get a B as long as you do the emodules and get atleast 60% on all the tests! Makes bio fun. very undersatdning and approachable.
He is an awesome teacher. You will remember him. Class is interesting. Pass with no problem, just do the e-modules. Test are easy as long as you go to class.
first off... do NOT buy the book.. just buy the survival guide that he made. very easy. all work is online..no need to really go to class. got me liking bio again!
he's a pretty funny teacher. everything is online. pretty easy B, but have to try for an A.
If your major is Nursing DO NOT take this class! You can get a B really easily but an A is impossible. Really nice teacher and interesting class but unfair grading rubric
Awsome teacher! Makes bio interesting. No need to buy book. Do modules online, take a few in class tests, a few etests and a cumulative final. Not bad. Need to study for an A, but not impossible.
Pozos is the ****. Easy course. Don't buy the book. Attend lectures. Really forgiving and understanding teacher.
Read survival guide..text is basically useless. Online asses. are harder than in class exam. Go to class-cant get by just on the books. Grading not fair 95%=A. getting help w/online problem is impossible. YET, he's interesting..class applies to life.
Almost did nothing and got a B
awesome, has great stories
his standards are high, but he's very nice. do extra credit to boost your grade. he's very understanding if you go talk to him. get on his good side so he knows you're a good student.
funny teacher. Grading system is high 95% = A but easy points through out the semester except for all the tests. All his material relate to life a lot.
not very clear

Pozos is the greatest bio professor i've ever had. I am a senior and avoided taking all my science courses til my last year because i HATE science with a passion, he taught me how to LOVE a class where i knew i was going to fail. I got an B!
He makes biology about as generic and easy as it can get. Make sure you do you e-modules its the one thing that will save you. Lectures are interesting but he WILL pick on ppl, so beware. Overall a good class, you will learn a lot of useful information.
This class is my favorite, because the teacher is enthusiastic, and you can ask him any question and will not make you feel dumb. The classes are very interactive, as is the class which involves doing emodules aka online hw. You are lucky if you get him.
Pozos, if you can read this, please fix your website; It sucks. It is the most unreliable piece of crap.
Very good at explaining concepts!
your website sucks. if his teaching method does not frustrate you, his website will. You can run a mile and the his website still be loading.
Pozos gives very interesting lectures. Tests are hard, but keep up with e-modules and you will be fine. When taking e-tests work in a group! It is important to go to class. He usually gives test answers on Fridays, so make sure you go then. I would recommend Pozos. Very nice guy!
Lectures are interesting and he is very understanding. His class is difficult though.
Very humorous
He is a really nice guy. I learned alot and he made it easy. He relates alot of material to real life instances. Really interesting and I would recomend his class.
I liked his class, really interesting topics but they have nothing to do with the e-test. So freakin' hard. Just make sure you do your e-modules and if you fail all the tests you'll at least get a B in the class. Beware: 95% and up is an A. Any thing lower than 85 is a C.
He's a good guy but the class is too big., Office hours are impossible. No slack. Too high scale
VEry nice and funny man,but the tests are pretty diffucult and he has online hw which sucks. The site is super slow and the tests on the site are hard.Grading scale is messed up.you must do every emodule or your grade will drop significantly.tests are on way too much material.
Really nice man. Hes willing to always help and listen to you. Tests are incredibly hard, but not worth too much of final grade. online hw is a gaurenteed 100%.
Great teacher but very difficult class. Homework is tedious but easy. TESTS ARE VERY HARD!!!!
You get the concept of most things if you pay attention. However you do a lot of things online: EMODULES AND ETESTS but its easy.If you miss one you cant take it over, this hurt my grade the most. The tests are HARD.Youll get a B if you do all online stuff n average on tests.Grading scale is high!
Hard, but interesting class. He makes Bio relevant to life so we can understand and use it, but his grading scale is hard. 95-100 = A, 85-94= B. Its possible to get an A but extremely hard. Never skip an emodule. his tests are ridiculously hard. nice guy though.
Okkaay evil class- just b/c u have these online quizzes all the time and i forgot to do like 14 and thats like 300 points. I got b's on the tests, and could have gotten like a B but the emodules KILLED ME! KILLEd!!but he is an AWESOME and INTERESTING lecturer, great info- clear, just REMEBER modules
Interesting class, but lots of work required to get a good grade. Do the e-modules in advance, since the site sometimes has technical problems. Come to his lectures, a lot of it is on the test and they are very interesting. If you want to learn BIO, take him!
Find a way to remind yourself to do modules. E-Tests are way harder than paper tests. lectures aren't bad.
pretty cool professor. TONS of emodules due frequently.. must do them.. worth a lot of points! etests and paper tests are okay.. someone hard! final was a killer! way too long and too many questions! lectures are fun and he hates on people who are late to class. overall.. pretty cool class
THIS CLASS IS VERY EASY,ONLY IF YOU JUST CAME OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. THE EMODULES ARE WHAT HELP YOUR GRADE AND MAKE SURE TO GET 100 ON ALL, A LOT OF TESTS AND A FINAL.
This isn't an easy class i don't care what no one says.Forget the bio espresso. They help but Pozos' teaching SUCKS
Easy class just do all the e-modules and review the notes and emodules and you will do fine in the class.
hard and horrible teacher. does no review for tests so you have no idea what to study. he's a smart guy but i didnt learn anything in the class because he tried to teach so much.
Hardly went got a B, do ALL E-Mods, E-Test doesn't really pertain to paper test.I averaged 12/25 on E-Test but 85%on paper tests.Very understanding, if you go to him w/a problem before class, like an adult, he'll help you out and he's very understanding.I missed deadlines and he extended them for me
If you want an A, get ready to work. His grading scale is imossible, only 95 and up is an A. I got a 94. Remember to do all the online assignments and study for the tests. Hard class, but he's a great guy and makes bio interesting and applicable.
Dr.Pozos is one of the BEST professors I've had at sdsu. he's really cool and at times he's really funny. when he lectures, he makes it interesting and also he makes sure to help students to understand what's going on. he really knows what he's talkin about!
this is the best class ever. he made the class fun and interesting. you would want to go to class everyday even though you dont have to. high grading scale but very easy points to earn. take this class, you wont regret it.
Very clear and straight forward with his lectures! If you want an A get ready to work hard because his grading scale is 95 and up for an A. Make sure you do all emodules! they are pretty easy and count for a lot of points, they are the reason I got an easy B.
His class is all right, make sure you do all the emodules, if not, dont miss over 3..max is 5. High grading standard (95-up is an A)(85-94 is a B) and so forth. You have to work really hard if you want an A.Theres a 2% xtra credit.ALWAYS STUDY IN ADVANCE for midterms & etc.Overall,U should take him!
class scale is 100-95 A, 95-90 B... attend class everyday most of info. on his lectures, do all the e-modules, they can determine your grade.i strongly suggest study groups a week in advance, don't cram, it won't help.he is happy to answer any questions you have for him. very nice and intelligent.
This class was challenging but nice if you find it hard to read every night, because the about 3x a week homework are questions (online, pc only) based on the reading so you HAVE to read. The teacher is enthusiastic and helpful. He never says it, but you can get a - or a + as a grade.
Nice teacher. Willing to help you if you actually make the effort and go to him. Tests are pretty hard, but do ALL the e-modules and your grade should be fine.
He is a nice guy. Very excited about what he teaches. Knows what he is talking about. Class is ok, don't forget about the modules. Hard to get a good grade. Lectures can be pretty entertaining. I got a C.
Don't let his easy to understand lectures fool you. He teaches very well, but the material on the tests and especially the quizzes are very hard. Study HARD, I did, and I only got an A-. Bob is a very nice professor, you will enjoy his friendly nature.
dont take him. he should not teach a 100 class. a 100 class shouldnot be as hard as a 400 or 500 class. unecessary difficulty. bad bad bad. if you don't take him cuz he's bad then don't take him because i asked you nicely not to. please dont take him. yuck.
HE IS A REALLY NICE GUY. NOT ALL NICE GUYS SHOULD TEACH INTRO COLLEGE COURSES. HE'S TOO SMART FOR BOI100. ONLY TAKE HIM IF YOU'RE A GENIUS THAT CAN FIGURE THINGS OUT THAT HE DOES NOT TEACH IN CLASS. I AM DISSAPPOINTED
always remember to do all the e-modules because they are worth 60% of your grade. When it comes to test make sure you study HARD to pass. I worked hard all semester and end it up with a B-. I recommend you take this class with someone else or be prepared to worked extremely hard to earned that A
Hard class. Must go to lecture, MUST do ALL e-modules. Be very careful not to forget them, especially Friday night, you will watch your grade drop. He doesn't cover everything, so ask questions, he's very helpful. Tests are hard, final is bit easier, STUDY! Pay attension and interact in class, a good rep with him will helps.
Professor Pozos is the coolest bio teacher I've ever had. He was such a great lecturer and he always made suree everyone understood every topic. Make sure you do all your emodules because they will kill your grade if you don't. the tests are no joke. especially the etests. study hard and go to lecture and you should be fine.
OK...He is a very nice, and cute gray haired professor..Lectures MAY seem easy, but tests are very hard. I struggled more with this class than any other class I have taken. Only take him if you have previous knowledge of Bio so then you may understand his deeper outlook. Etests are harder than paper tests...too much testing in general
I loved this class. Pozos is a great teacher, very entertaining and easy to follow. He looks like the monopoly guy. The emodules are easy, its the etests that get you. Hopefully they'll fix that.... tests weren't bad, I averaged B's on them... just make sure you go to class and remember to do the homework everyday.
He's a great lecturer but the tests are difficult. ALWAYS DO THE EMODULES!!! missing one can bring you down 2% points. the e-tests are impossable but the paper tests are much easier
this guy knows his stuff. and lectures are never boring. as long as you keep up in the reading and e-test there is NO reason for you to get a B. its an easy C class, B u have to give some effort, and just UNDERSTAND everything for an A. not too demanding
The lectures are interesting, but what gets you are the emodules. You have to do every single one or your grade drops. This class isn't just lecture and test, HW everyday. Study for Etest!!
Pozos makes lecture extremely interesting but dont be fooled by how easy it is to understand, take REALLY good notes that you can use to study the e-tests because they are not easy at all. The paper tests are pretty fair, the e-modules are super easy so do them all and theyll boost your grade.
Professor Pozos treats his students well and is very friendly. He also relates lectures to real life. His online modules are easy, but his online quizzes are hard. The in-class tests are of medium difficulty so study. I got an A- with a lot of effort.
He is really cute, and nice. Emodules are kinda hard, especially when the answers arent in the booklet. Do EVERY EMODULE OR YOUR GRADE WILL DIE!!!!!!!!
what are you happy face people thinking...terrible..just terrible... sure his lectures were interesting but how much did the actual lectures help for the e-tests or regular tests. if you take him, at least make sure the class is NOT online anymore. too disorganized and sketchy...not worth risking a grade. avoid if possible
Students can sometimes be crazy. information is not always found in textbooks, use logic, previos knowledge, use the internet (theres wonderful bio sites out there) you dont see something on the emodule ASK, LOOK IT UP ELSEWHERE, do not blame it on the text if you dont know the answer. This is the BEST teacher I've had! But students are sooo lazy! They want to find easy answers and dont have the courage/determination to learn outside of a given text. Grow up! Pozos is the greatest bio instructor out there.
i liked him alot. emodules can be hard, but this class takes much common sense. Do all the emodules or your grade will suffer!! the tests vary from easy to hard, you never know. All around, hes good but the "bioespresso" he uses gets frustrating sometimes
HE'S THE COOLEST BIO TEACHER I KNOW. IT'S PRETTY EASY, JUST DO ALL THE E-MODULES AND TESTS AND STUFF AND YOUR GOOD TO GO!
he is very good at explaining things the only set back is he always has quest speakers who dont give very clear information so that sucks but other than that he is easy
Ohhh no!Pozos No!I don't get it I did everything and got a d+. I don't think he's easy, yes he's a nice guy but the emodules suck!If you have a bussy schedule don't take him. The emodules will bite you.Plus the test are very long, not hard just long
Pozos is a good teacher.Made class interesting. The e modules are not too difficult. Sometimes tricky, but mostly straight forward. If there are problems with the computer, go to office hours and he will gladly let you redo the assignment. Take him....it's like watching the Monopoly man talking about mitochondria and ATP.
hes a very good teacher,, the lecturers Suck!! can build yourself to an "A" with the e-modules.. Study everything for the PAPer TESTs.. E-test start easy but gets really hard.. hes a pretty good person.. by goin 2 class everyday, reading the book, and paying attention you can get a "B".. no doubt!
lots of fun
Professor is friendly and cool. His online quizzes are next to impossible, but in-class tests are based on a curve and are easier. Class attendance is essential, but the book is not. Approach this class with caution if you don't like science.
He makes lectures very interesting and makes you think/connect ideas. Very helpful in the real world because of the application. The only thing that sucks about the class are the emodules, but you get 3 tries, but then again its time consuming. Jot down the main points to lecture, and do the edmods and youre set.
He's a good teacher. Funny. Didn't take roll but I went like every day. Make sure you go to the guest lectures for the extra credit.
although he knows his subject and relates it well, his tests and online quizes are very tough! The modules will help your grade. His lectures are very interesting, but i got my first C from this class.
so easy. but you HAVE to do ALL emodules. (little hw/quiz's every mwf that you do online) there WILL be a lot of guest lecturers turing the middle to the end of the semester. they suck! so read the book when they come to class.but other then that easy A even though i got a b cuz i didnt try.
He's got the tough love attitude- if you show him that you are interested in a good grade, he will help you there. Makes you answer your own questions. DO EMODULES (the answers are in your book anyway.) STUDY EMODULES. Pay attention- extra credit at lecture! Wonderful guy! My favorite.
Ok, he was pretty easy going. First few weeks, you really don't need to go to class. Just make sure you are there for guest lectures, cuz he would do extra credit from them, and it helps. DO THE EMODULES!!! Many questions, and the answers, are in the book... just a few random questions at end of Module. Fun class, I enjoyed it very much.
He is a good professor to take. Really recommened to do e modules and get the highest grade possible. It is somewhat easy and does give x-tra credit when guest professors come to teach. The only bad thing is having to do an e module every day you have class and have to complete it by that same day. SO some effort is needed to do well! Good class!
Pozos is a great teacher. Just remember to do the e-modules and TRY to get them all correct. That will ehlp you A LOT in the end. Test are pretty easy in the begining and they get a little difficult in the end. I did all the e-modules and did well on the test and I got a soild A! I RECOMMEND taking this teacher and this class.
Beware: Strange grading scale (Need above 95% for an A, and need above 85% for a B) which screwed me over because I ended up with an 82% in his class which by using his cracked out grading scale was a "C".
I LOVE THIS GUY! He is a great teacher with incredible enthusiasm and support of the students. The grading scale is NOT weird, it's normal with 90% is an A because I got an A with a 92%. Take advantage of office hours, and DO THE EMODULES! They will help you anyway! Very encouraging and caring.
Pozos is the best Professor i've had at SDSU yet!Great teacher who relates everything to real life issues.Lectures are super interesting and they go by fast unless theres a guest speaker (they suck)Very understanding,he curves the test like no other!Highest score on one test was 80%, I got a 79% but after the curve i got a 95%.Do emodules,it helps!
too easy. this class is a joke. if you take it for CR/NC youll never have to show up. i never studied and pulled a B. i never even went to class for that matter.
One of the best teachers at sdsu
Dr. Pozos is by far the best teacher i've had at sdsu. I was so scared to take bio, Pozos took that fear away. He definitely knows how to make a boring biology class interesting. He gives great examples that relate to real life situations. WORD OF ADVICE: do ALL of your e-modules (online quizzes) .. they range from 18-37 questions.
He's the best teacher i've had all year. the ONLY reason why i rated it NOT easy, was because we had different instructors from UCSD teach us and some of them were hard to understand. I bet you a million if Pozos taught, everyone wouldve had an A. Hes hillarious and a very understanding person!!
this class was really interesting and pozos is super funny and prob one of the best teachers at sdsu. its a easy B but you have to do all of the emodules and study for the tests to get an A. the only disadvatage of the class are the grad students that come and teach cuz some of them have no teaching skills. take this class! i got an A & recommend i
great teacher, the online quizzes were a pain, requires a moderate amount of studying! if you put yourself to it you can easily get an A.
A funny and innovative teacher. However, there is no textbook so it makes learning and taking notes harder. The online website where e-modules (similar to online quizzes) and e-tests are done and grades are posted often has gliches which is very frustrating.
Awesome teacher and awesome class! Dr. Pozos makes every subject relevant to the modern day experiences. Funny teacher and makes class fun and enjoyable. Best teacher at SDSU!
He's the best teacher i've had all year. the ONLY reason why i rated it NOT easy, was because we had different instructors from UCSD teach us and some of them were hard to understand. I bet you a million if Pozos taught, everyone wouldve had an A. Hes hillarious and a very understanding person!!
Even though Pozos is the professor listed, he barely teaches. He brings in doctorates from UCSD to lecture, which is hit or miss. Some of the lecturers are great, some not so much. There are mandatory quizzes after each class online that REALLY help your grade if you do them.
I recommend taking pozos for biology. The class has its annoyances, but for the sake of the grade i would even take pozos again. As stated, he invites guest lecturers from ucsd to teach after a few weeks or so, and may I add that only a FEW are effective public speakers. Take ALL e-modules and e-tests. random extra cred is given in class,so go!
95% of the class is taught by guest speakers and a lot are horrible. I got an A, but didn't leave feeling like I had a good understanding of biology. The class is too depth for gen. ed. which causes everyone to do bad... so there is always a curve and extra credit. My advice: stay on top of the e-modules and go to class for extra credit opportunies
Dr. Pozos is the biggest joke at SDSU. He makes you pay $80 for a useless notebook that you have to buy for the code to register for the website he helped design. He writes all the lectures so theres no point in going to his class since everything is online. He messes up on the website so you lose points you should have and wont respond to emails.
everything is online. lectures are a pointless to attend. if you do go, it probably wont be him teaching since he always has guest speakers teach the class. his website has glitches that cost you points. he won't respond to emails. if you arent a bio major, youll have trouble understanding all the terminology. horrible teacher. dont take this class
well.. the $80 dollar book is useless, the lectures are usually taught by UCSD ppl, it'sgood to go to class.. u never know when he will give out x-tra credit.he tries to answer the e-mails.. class is alright as long as you skim through the e-modules you should be able to get a C on most of the tests and do ALL e-modules they help out your grade
Really great class if biology or science at all is not your thing. Remember to do the e-modules online, they make up most of your points in the class. I missed two modules and it cost me an A, but the are really easy to do. Also on the e-test, work with someone, have them take it first then you do it and help each other out!
Very nice and understanding teacher. He's funny and makes sure you know what you're learning by asking questions. If you really need help, he will help you and make sure you get the higher grade. Most of the material is online, but you need to get the overly expensive $80 text to get the code as a password for the site. Guest speakers usually teach
hes smart and a good teacher, problem is he hardly ever does the lecture. the mandatory text is bs (he basically forces u to pay $80 to be in his class) but its a really interesting class.
Okay, if you have to take this class, you can do well by going to class and doing ALL e-modules. Don't freak, people tend to do more poorly on them early. Get friends to do the e-tests with you which are online tests before paper ones. This class is a chore! $80 for online reading material - no book. RIP OFF. We're in college, we're broke!
the text like everyone said is $80 so it IS a rip off, you only need it for the stupid code inside to access the website. he never teaches the class which is really lame b/c hes a really great teacher. the guest speakers he chooses are sometimes REALLY bad so you have to learn the material yourself most of the time. Do the modules, they help ALOT!!
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Fun, interesting class. He has tons of guest lecturers and you take mini quizzes online after every class (easy!) You determine your grade based on those... tests aren't too bad, just attend lectures! Lots of extra credit too! Cute little man with a warm heart!
This class is based entirely online. You can go to class if you want. He assigns E-modules three time a week and I highly suggest you do all of them. The exams are pretty hard though. He barely teaches and it can get annoying because he would have graduate students come in and lecture and usually they are not that great.
I LOVED THIS CLASS! i honestly never felt more motivated to attending a lecture. he is very entertaining. the grad students are okay at the end you rate them on their teaching so if you want to complain about them, do it then BOOK IS ONLINE..FREE!! TOTALLY WORTH IT! the tests dont bring down your average so if you do ALL THE MODEULES youll do fine
awesome class!!! I loved it! Pozos doest teach most of the time, but guest speakers are good. Just do the modules and its easy.
SAVE yourself. This class is 2 HARD for a GE and 2 much work. Plus all material is NOT in the e-modules/test. Its like learning a foreign language. You are practiced on with grad students. Take a diff bio class. TRUST ME! A waste of your time & interfers with ur classes bc of 47 e-modules. studying still does not help. Do NOT take this class!
Terrible class! Expensive online book, homework due online every other day! Really hard for those not familiar with complex Bio!
Everything is unclear, from his lectures to the e- mods. You can find the answer the e-mod and when you go to put it in, that answer isn't even there. It's so frustrating. Only good thing is that the tests dont hurt your grade much.
OMG! this class is so time consuming. Emodules are hard and info isnt even on the online book we have to pay $90 for. Rip off. Emodules do help your grade but here is one due bedore every class. Pozos is never there. Guest lecturers teach the class. Kind of irritating. Dont take this class if you cant handle stess, depression, or if u want a life.
You have to do assignments before the lecture is even taught. No point of going to lecture if you already learned everything the night before
Dont waste your time taking this class. Mr.Pozos rarely teaches, so each week you have a different lecturer. You have a homework assignment everyday and its on something you will learn the next day. its a waste of time. and stressful if you are taking it for a grade!
i personally dont kno what everyone is talking about.. yes you have to do e modules but if you gather up with just like 2 people theyre piece of cake, ive done them all my test grades arent that great but i still have a b. pozos is great, some of the guest speakers arent, but overall i like the class. i recommend it.
Make sure you never forget to do an emodule or an E-test, they are the most important part of your grade. Other than that class isnt mandatory but they offer extra credit everynow and then if you show up
This is a great class! Of course there s a lot of info to learn, it's Bio but online e-modules make it fun and easier to learn. no book, dont need to go to class, but extremely helpful to go cuz he explains everything in depth. Also student teacher are good too. offers xtra credit. if you make an effort you will do great, and enjoy learning Bio!
the book was like $90, just for some stupid code to register for the emodules, etests (online) he never taught, okay maybe 4 times but the guest speakers were not helpful...
Don't miss an e-module, it will really help if because the tests aren't easy. If you are committed you can get an A... (you do need to pay 90$ to have access to the online book). mixed feelings about that.
The book is so expensive, might as well be buying trash. But you need to buy it to get a code so you can pass the class. I liked the lectures, but I disliked most of the guest speakers. If you are committed, you will do ok.
Might as well have taken an upper-division course.. SO unfair! The "book" which was $94 consisted of 5 sheets of paper- questions without answers, what good is that? There are tests BEFORE tests..Hmm. Homework, EVERY other night, which is required to be finished BEFORE lecture. Doesn't make any sense to me.. And Pozos hardly teaches the class. Bogu
The book was a joke. I'm pretty sure he sees some profit from using that "textbook" He barely teaches the class but when he does he's helpful. Other teachers are good. The material is hard so study and do the extra credit. Curves tests as well, so it helps. Funny guy. Make sure you do all the emodules so your grade wont suffer.
I really liked this class! As long as you show up and do all of the modules on time, you will do fine. He also gives extra credit ops. Pozos has a great sense of humor and I liked the guest speakers as well. The only thing that was not that cool was the cost of the book that I didn't really use. That's the only complaint I have though.
Don't go to class. I showed up the first 2 class days and for exams. Never went to a review session & got an A. E-modules will save your grade if you aren't a good test taker. The final was a bit long, but it was fair. Sign up for his morning class & you'll get to sleep in an extra 3 days a week.
Very difficult. There are at least 42 web-based emodules; meaning you have to rely on the web for answers, 4 online tests, 4 paper exams, and one 200 question cumulative final. Be prepared to work like this was Bio 300.
The class was fairly easy because there was so much homework, but you had to do the homework.
As for me, this class was freakin' hard. I never attended class. and even if i did, i learned nothing. Homework everyday. 2 tests per section (online then paper test). 200 final questions! AHHHHH! i failed all tests, did good on e-modules and received a C.
Pozos is a really humerous professor he's very understanding. ppl are only happy during lecture when he's lecturing. class was very fair. Very managable to get an A because modules were 50% of grade and theres a 2% extra credit oppurtunity at the end. Loved this class pozos and his TA. their cool!
this can be the easiest class EVER! take this for guaranteed B. you NEVER need to go to class(except test days) because lecture is a WASTE of time. to pass class do ALL the bioespresso stuff, and do it with classmates. i failed every single test and final and still got a B. do emodules and e-tests with classmates and get good grades and u pass.
HE SUCKS!!!! IT WAS AN EASY CLASS THOUGH
Dr. Pozos is VERY Funny!!! The class sucked because the lectures are exactly for the "E-modules"! When he did the lecture everyone attended because he's so cool. When he has guest speakers (most of the time), you'll look around the room and half the room is sleeping. Just do the E-modules and E-tests and you'll pass this class. Easy Grade,TAKE HIM!
easy to get a B. Tough to get an A
Hard class. Study ur butt off for this one. Do each and every emodule, or your grade will most def go down. Some of the questions aren't even taught to you so you have to do most of the researching urself. Also, he goes beyond teaching bio100. He covers EVERYTHING. Take him if ur a NURSING major. He will keep you on ur toes.
Dr. Pozos is awesome! If you can't get an A in this class then there is something wrong with you. There is so much extra credit, the modules aren't hard- you just have to read them. If your lazy, then don't take the class, but hey YOUR IN COLLEGE NOW, so expect to do some reading. Anyways, easy A if you read the modules!
omg dr pozos is the best he pretty much gave grades away best on hw. some one could fail every test and still pass the class jst by doing good on emodules which have all the answers on the exact same website, best class ive ever takin. and if someone doesnt like bio and just needs to boost up there gpa take pozos but u need to set aside about an hr
If you can't keep up with the emodules 3 days a week, don't take the class. If you can, it can be pretty easy. He pretty much gives out EC. The etests are difficult, but the paper tests aren't as bad. He is a highly entertaining lecturer, but the fellows sometimes aren't. Go to his office hours even if you don't have questions. He'll give you EC.
If you're lazy, don't take this class. You have to do modules 3 days a week-- read and answer questions. It gets annoying. You have e-tests before a mid-term or final. Tests were crazy hard. I failed all tests, passed all modules, and got a C.
He was a really good professor if you are interested in the subject. He will call on random people in class so try to pay attention. If you are not a science major i would try and get another teacher. Do well on the E-Modules and do with other people and you will be fine. Most tests are from e-modules and lectures.
This is literally the best biology class you could ask for. If you do the work there is no way you cannot get an A+. There is a decent amount of homework, but it is very easy and interesting. Tons of extra credit. Easy A, just do the work!
doesn't actually teach very often. he has grad students do most of the teaching. mostly an online class. more physiology class than biology. I never went to class, never read the book and got a B. tons of EC if you do go to class though.
Hybrid class, you dont have to attend lectures since everything is online but it really really helps a lot! Different postdoctoral instructors take on some lectures which makes it more dynamic. As long as you keep up with the extra credit and try the e-modules until you get a good grade, class is easy. Study for test! there is no actual textbook.
Pozos class is easy. Read the e-module assignments thoroughly and you should have no problem getting an A. All the questions from the tests are off the e-modules. Show up to class if you want and A for sure but not necessary to pass the class. Extra cred in class several times. Every time there is a guest speaker(often) do an eval. of them for pts.
Pozos only teaches a small portion of the class. He then hands the lectures off to other professors who are very dull to listen to. Pozos and Recendes are the only lecturers who are enthusiastic and interesting. Do all of the e-modules and e-tests and you should be fine. There is also extra credit.
If you are willing to ACTUALLY read the e-modules and answer those questions with a good score then you should be fine with the class and the tests. Wasn't there most of the time and had other Dr.'s lecture the class on the subject. But just literally concentrate more on the e-modules, do good on the e-tests, do the extra credit and you should pass
This class is extremely easy! As long as you do the modules, you'll pass with a B. Study the terms for all the tests and you'll get an easy A, just like I did.
This course is EASY. Do the modules, show up to class (most of the time) and you're pretty much guaranteed an A (unless you're retarded, in which case you'd need to show up all the time for the A). Very helpful prof, and the best part is, he knows you probably aren't a BIO major, so he teaches you what is important, to know in life. TAKE THIS CLASS
This class is awesome. It's pretty much online based, with e-modules that you have to do every other day. I dind't do to great with the written tests, but got all A's on the emodules, so I ended up with a B+. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
This is one of the easier classes of the semester. just do your best on all the emodules it is half your grade, plus it helps you study for the tests. get to know the teacher personally it helps
Don't be spooked by the first 10 or so emodules. The class SEEMS hard until right after it's too late to drop. If you've got the balls to trust an online review though, it gets SO much easier when the other dudes take over. did most of the emodules, never studied, and passed the class with an A-. Easily could have gotten an A if I worked for it.
This is one of the greatest and most influential professors I have experienced. Very passionate about Bio and one of the most stimulating GE's I have taken. The Post Grad lectures are less than perfect but they are here to learn. Go to his office hours- he changed my perspective life and really made me ask some pressing questions. Great guy, take it
I can't even rate Pozos because he didnt even teach 75% of his classes. Why should we try if the guy who's getting paid to teach us just hands the reins over to post-grad volunteers?Stupid questions:"You stuff yourself silly with potato chips (aka starchy goodness) that you got at Costco because you're poor. What'll the xtra AcytlcoA be used to make?
This teacher is soo easy!! I am retaking this class (my previous teacher was Truedale) anyways I'm learning functional-true life stuff rather than just reading from a boring textbook. He does have grads lecture a huge chunk of the class but they are pretty decent. I have a B- ave student and I'm getting an A in the class. There's extra credit!
This class was terrible. The professor did not teach any of his own lectures and wrote ridiculous questions on the tests and homework. He doesn't even offer an actual textbook, only an online version which contained countless spelling and grammatical errors. I ended up with an A, but the grade wasn't worth the sheer frustration of the class.
This teacher is SUPPPPPPER EASY. The textbook is online and its mandatory but its really easy. He has a lot of post doc students that come in to teach the lectures. Some of them are good but some suck (you get 5 points extra credit at the end of their lectures though).
To the person under me, relax. Easy class if you can do the homework due every mwf. Those hws are the basis of the class, you can faill the tests and still keep a good grade. 500 person class. He teaches like 1/12 of the whole class.
I hate this teacher so much. His online system crashed several times, q's were marked wrong that werent, and you only got credit if you happened to notice the error. So you cant study 4 tests with hw q's.he teaches maybe 10% of the class&doesn't show up the rest of the time.Easy to pass, but not worth it.cant wait to do his faculty eval&tell him this
Too in depth. My nursing major roommate(who's taken anatomy, micro, etc.)hasn't learned half this stuff yet.You pay 80 dollars for an online book that has multiple misspellings & poor syntax.I'm fairly sure Pozos wrote it,since the homework and test questions are equally incomprehensible.Had to throw out all etests due to system failure.Waste of time
Dr. Pozos is a pretty good teacher and has Post-doctorates from UCSD teach most of the material. You have HW MWF, but it's not too bad when you get the hang of it. I FAILED every test, passed with a B+. There's so much extra credit, it was worth over 30 points! BTW, if stick with this teacher instead of Truesdale (this my a repeat class)
Pozos is a really good teacher and WHEN he lectures, the class is really enjoyable. However, most of the class is taught by Post Docs. and most of them are pretty dry lecturers. Its an easy class to pass, (although I've heard that a lot of people failed the tests) because he gives so much extra credit, and there is homework due MWF. I recommend it.
He's a great, informative teacher when he lectures but as everyone else has already mentioned, postdocs teach most of the material. They try their best too.Has an online book&website.extra credit helps greatly.Quizzes every MWF online.4tests.final is cumulative.
For the first couple weeks, I thought I was going to die in this class. The weekly readings/quizzes were hard to get the hang of and the material seemed difficult. But, I was wrong.I stuck it out and I'm glad I did. Just STUDY, go to class, and do the EXTRA CREDIT.. He gives enough that you canget a 0 on a whole test and still be fine! I got a 100%
I got all F's except for a D+ on the tests, did all the extra credit, got A's on most of the homework, and finally passed with an A- in the class. There is a TON to memorize - way more than is possible for a GE class - but that's what the EC was for. Fools you into thinking it's a REALLY hard class for the first 2 weeks but gets way easier later.
Difficult class and textbook is online. So much material crammed, wouldn't recommend this class. Good, funny guy, but rarely even teaches because he has his TA's. E-module quizzes every other day and E-tests as well as paper tests. Good luck to anyone who takes him.
If you have the chance to take Pozos do it! I wished he would have lectured more, but just do all the HW and tests and you'll be fine. It did seem like a lot of material to cover for a 100 Biology class though.
Pozos was a relaxed professor. No textbook used. Everything is done online, except the midterms/final. "Modules" (readings followed by a quiz) were posted pretty much every other day, There were a little more than 40 of these. Three online tests, 4 in class including cumulative final. Tons of extra credit! Pretty easy class, do ALL the homework!
I'd recommend this class to everyone. There's so much stuff to learn and memorize and online homework MWF, BUT you never have to go to class and the extra credit is almost worth as much as all of the tests. Failed every paper test and did not learn a single thing, but still got a B+
i took credit/no credit. if ur value ur time i would.. homework before every class is a pain.. i became really good at guessing. he rarely teaches the course.. mostly TA's do. id give him a B+ and the class a C
Pozos is a generally good teacher when he does teach, but the amount of material covered is ridiculous, and the tests are hard. I probably would have been fine if I hadn't missed a couple of the modules, because he tries to set up the class in order for you to pass with plenty of resources to help. Sometimes the material is overwhelming though.
Not an easy class at all. A ton of work. 10 question quiz due before every class. Pozos doesn't really teach the class at all. Taught by grad students. Tests are really detailed and pretty hard. Final was rough. 200 questions, cumulative.
So much information to learn, it can be overwhelming.Do ALL of the modules, that is your best source of points. They're kind of a drag, but they're easy (you get 3 tries) and will help your grade. Do the extra credit, that helps too. I learned a lot in this class, it was very interesting.
These people who say he is hard are retards. The class is not difficult, basic bio concepts. He offers a ridiculous amount of extra credit resulting in A's for even the biggest tards in the class. Take him if you want an easy A. Funny guy too.
He is one the best teachers I have ever had at SDSU. Too bad for all of you who complain about this class, I got a B and learned alo from him and his guest lecturers. This class is not hard as long as you do your work and ask for his help if you need to. Great professor!
I LOVE POZOS!! he was AWESOME and could explain anything in a crystal clear way. he doesnt teach the whole semester though... he does have TAs come in for him a few weeks in
Took this class in the summer online. It was time consuming with 2 online modules due everyday but if you read the material and do ALL of the modules you should be fine. I got D's on all three exams but because I did all the modules I recieved a B. Overall easy course definately take Pozos!
Pozo doesn't teach at all... I saw him only during the exams. I rarely attended the classes and got average of b's on the exams and still have an A. Very good class too take.
Do really well on your modules, do all of the extra credit and you will get at least a B.
Take this class online. Your grade will only be based on the modules and the modules are pretty straight forward, just skim them and search for the answers when you take the module tests. The tests are pretty hard though, some questions you can find in previous modules.
straight foward class. took the class online. theres a bunchhh of modules so make sure you do all of them. the tests are pretty hard, but the modules will help your grade a lot so dont worry too much. he offers an extra credit powerpoint assignment which CAN help your grade a little if you do a good job on it.
This class presents tons of info and tests are difficult. Modules help your grade. Can be time consuming.
Pozos doesn't teach this class at all. The class is taught by a bunch of post-docs, most of whom should NOT be teaching. No one if proofing their work. The post docs write the reading material, quizzes, exams, and lectures (all of which you pay for.) I did get an A, but this is the worst class I have ever taken!
I took this course online. It was an awful experience. There were modules due 3 times a week. Tests were similar to the online modules but occasionally there would be a question about a topic I never saw in the reading.
What a Bozos! long and tedious. 3 borring modules/quizes a week. 4 crazy tests with questions from.. well not the modules. Do well on all the modules and you should be fine. Final totally sabotaged me though from an A to a B (worth 20%).
This class...such a mess. Online modules (quiz) help grade tremendously and lots of extra points here and there. Don't go to class but study the modules quizzes and etests for exams. Post doc students teach differently so its hard to learn from them. I got a B and didn't do anything but the bare minimum. He's funny when he does show up :)
Pointless to attend lectures, just do the Online modules and get perfect scores on them and you'll get an A.
Took it online. Incredibly easy. Never read the modules and got A's on the quizzes. 3 of them a week, but easy and only 4 tests. Online is the way to go for him!
Took this course online. All you do is take homework quizzes which you can just skim through the writings for. Three tests and one final which are kind of hard, but just find other people in the same course and work through them together. Easy A, just make sure and get all 10s on homework and don't botch the tests.
The online course is pretty easy. You can Google or search the modules to get answers. Some answers are not in the modules or are different than the modules. For a 100 class, however, it was way too difficult. At times, I felt like I was pre-med. Pozos is hardly available. Overall, the class is just a bit annoying.
No textbook, all work is online. 1 of his classes has in class exams AND online exams while the other has only online. Make sure you're in the latter. There are online readings called modules due every class, but you can easily just knock them all out at once. Do not attend class, it is pointless. Pozos never teaches, he has his henchmen do it.
Took this class as a refresher. Didnt learn anything. Was entirely taught by guest speakers who were so hard to understand. Biology is hard to learn in a class of 500. If you need a BS class, take this one. Try a smaller class if you actually want to learn.
The instructor did not teach the class until the last 2 modules and i felt he was the BEST instructor I've ever had. he was fun, funny, and I learned the most from him (like The Wiz). get high scores on all the modules you"ll at least get a "C". He is the smartest dude to think to charge $100/student for his online text book (that's bank).
I took the online class. The modules weren't hard. There were three due per week. About 15 pgs of online reading and a 10 question quiz. The tests and the final are tough but if you keep on top of everything, you'll be okay. He also has review sessions before each test. Test questions ask you to apply concepts to situations a lot of the time.
Only take the online class!!! I took the lecture and it was extremely pointless and harder than the online class. I ended up with an A though. Greatest advice I can give you is make sure you have friends in the class to help you. Don't take if you're actually interested in Bio.
Could hardly call him a professor, seeing as post-doc students taught every lecture. I attended probably 1/12th of the lectures and ended up with an A-. Grade mostly consists of online quizzes and the four tests. Find people to do the online tests modules with!!!!!!!!! Class is good for an easy A but NOT for learning bio!!!!
The only beef I had with this teacher was when he told the class for midterm one to focus on past module tests because questions will come right from there. I did that, shoulda focused on the actual reading of the modules and ended up failing the midterm (from wat I remember a lot of students did poorly on it). And I couldnt undestand some T.A.'s
I took the online class. If you stay on schedule with all the modules, it's not that hard of a class. I'm terrible at science, and ended up with a B+.
SDSU is notorious for the most generous curves... lets leave it at that.
Bio is not anything like math, physics or even chemistry, it has absolutely no logic, hence everything you learn must be memorize. And that's what this class is, A LOT of information that must be memorized. Even though I got an A, I would not take Pozos again, but if you have to I highly recommend using Khan Academy, it got me through this class.
Definitely take the online class. 3 modules due every week so pretty time consuming for a 100 class. Nice curve at the end so I got to keep my A:)
He changed the modules and test toward the end of semester so you actually have to study. Not an easy A anymore.
While you can use paste bin on most of the modules & attendance is not required, this isn't an easy A. I had a lot of trouble logging into the modules & most exams were hard even when taken in a group. I feel like I didn't learn a thing. I'm glad I skipped lectures as this is one of those professors that calls on people for not so obvious answers
This is the worst class I will ever take! The tests are ridiculously hard and impossible. The tests are not anything about regarding the concepts on the online quizzes and readings. They are all about scenarios that you have to solve, rather than just concepts and definitions. Take the class that is a 2 hour block. IT WILL BE WAY WORTH IT.
This class was awful. The modules are fairly easy, you get 3 chances to get a 10/10, but his exams are tough. He doesn't take questions from the modules but rather poses scenarios for you to figure out. One piece of advice: don't take this class!
Lots of quizzes/modules BUT you have 3 tries for each quiz (and most are all on paste bin). The exams are hard, but I didn't study. I did not read 1 module and got a B in the class and also failed most of the quizzes. I would take it online rather than take an actual class if I were you. It really isn't that hard.
You have to teach yourself the information using Bioespresso and if you attend the lecture he spends the entire time talking about things unrelated to the material. Going to class made me more confused. As far as preparing for tests, you can't because the quizzes and readings don't accurately reflect them and there is no way to get more practice.
I took the class online, the quizzes were easy-you get 3 tries for each, but the tests are very hard. He makes you apply the concepts you learned and puts them in scenarios, so you really have to think. it was an ok class, lots of modules though.
This class was a joke! I did all the modules and reading and still ended up with a B-. The tests are next to impossible. Don't even waste your time doing the extra credit. I wrote 13 pages and he still only increased my grade by 1%... I asked him so many times to see the results of the tests but he never posted them. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!
Lots of quizzes but they are pretty easy because you can find most of the answers online. The tests however, are very hard because the questions have nothing to do with the readings and are mostly scenarios which really require you to think. I could have got an A if it weren't for the tests.
Pretty easy class. Three "reading assignments" and respective quizzes a week. The quizzes were easy if you just look to the reading for the answers. Tests were hard. Mostly scenario questions on the test. Do the modules and quizzes, get decent test scores (over 50%) and you'll pass
its not online, but everything is online... modules are so hard.
I hated this class
Seriously HORRIBLE I like Bio and have a high GPA in a hard major and this made me worry about my graduation. His questions are all those "weeder" questions that should differentiate an A from a B but all of his questions are like that so it's easy to get low scores even if you study and spend the required 20!!(plus) hours a week on this class.
THE WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD!! He is impossible to reach, his lectures don't cover a fraction of what is in his modules, he doesn't explain anything, so going to the lectures is pointless. You are basically on your own. Horrible horrible horrible class, horrible horrible horrible professor.
Horrible class, horrible professor. The exams are the most unclear and most difficult tests you will ever take. The bio-espresso readings are difficult to comprehend at times and makes it hard to learn any of the concepts. His videos are pointless and not helpful at all. I hate this class.
If I had a choice to go back I would definitely take an in class course. If you like online courses this probably wont be your favorite because there is no interaction. The lessons are all text modules there are barely any verbal and visual aids do if you are a depended learner on these then I recommend to take something else.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I failed this one but then took Dr. McClenaghan and got an A and actually learned!!
Such a hard class requires a lot of time reading and memorization. Getting a passing grade is close to impossible.
I felt the need to comment because of everything below that scared me before taking this class. Quizzes due 3x/week (SUPER easy). You should get at least 9/10. 3 Tests + final. If you get at least a D you will definitely get a B in this class. ITS NOT THAT HARD, believe me. Isn't not an easy A but you gotta be a slacker to fail it, honestly...
Most of the people that comment on here are students that did poorly on the course. If you like learning about the human biology and you COMMIT yourself, you will learn and do great. I loved this class and if you need help go and ask him for help! He is a great professor and person. Read and go to his office, ask him questions!
His tests are extremely hard and require critical thought to apply the material to real life circumstances to get the answers right . If you have a hard time with analyzing and reading comprehension do not take.
NOT AN EASY A. Even though its hybrid, it is a tough class. Reading and module quizzes are done three times a week. 3 Tests and 1 Final. While taking the quizzes and the test, I recommend you to make a PDF of the readings so you can command Find it. Also most answers can be found on google. Questions are confusing and difficult.
Horrid class. Took this with upper division mechanical engineering classes and this was the only grade below an A. Ridiculous grading on tests.(100% on the quizzes like c's on tests)
He is a nice and funny guy but sometimes his lectures would make no sense. The class is fairly easy as long as you do the modules but the tests are pretty difficult.
Basically an online class. Everything is done through bioespresso. Simpleeasy quizzes 3 times a week. You have the chance to retake each quiz 3 times to get the best score. Tests are online and ask the same questions that are on the quizzes. Final is cumulative. He's understanding and willing to help you out.
WORST COURSE EVER!! Quizzes are easy to get a 10 but the exams are hard enough to pass. Literally worst course tough by the worst teacher!
Proffesor bob was average.
His online class is horrible. The "textbook" he uses is one he writes himself, and is often not very clear at all. The modules quizzes are easy to ace, but his exams are very difficult in comparison. The questions on the exams are really badly worded, and so are the multiple choice answers. If there's extra credit. TAKE IT.
This class was one of the most frustrating classes I have ever taken. The second session of class, he called me out in front of the whole 500 person lecture, and called me unintelligent in front of 499 other students, which really discouraged me from going to class. Other than that, the tests are extremely more difficult than the quizzes.
Would recommend this teacher for Biology 100, I enjoyed his teaching criteria. Just go to his class, listen, and you should pass.
I took the online course. You are basically on your own for the whole semester. If you have a chance to go to his lectures you should. Itll be more helpful and less of a pain for you because you'll be allowed to get the notes live rather than trying to take notes on the computer. His quizzes and tests are poorly worded so its very confusing.
Absolutely horrible class. Lectures are a waste of time because he covers maybe 2-3 concepts of the modules on them, yet he expects you to know 10+ different modules. Anything he says in class is never on the tests. He expects way too much out of a 100 class. Tests are also impossible to do well on. Take another professor if you can!
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. If his textbook covered the information he required on the tests I would at least say his class was fair.
The online course did not teach me due to the unclear and difficult tests, would not recommend at all.
This class is awful. His online, hand written textbook is confusing and does not prepare you for the tests. The quizzes are okay, but the tests are brutal. The module quizzes do not prepare you for the tests at all. Definitely look for the BIO100 google doc because that saved me big time.
I took the in class lecture with Pozos. Going to lecture did not help at all. His tests are insanely difficult and they are all concept based questions and never reflected what we learned. He is a nice guy but a horrible teacher. I somehow got a B despite failing every test. Just get 100 on the modules and you should be okay.
I'm not sure if Professor Pozos makes the tests himself or have TAs switch up key terms from time to time. Personally I think it's the work of TAs delegated to prepare the tests, as questions are presented in a VERY specific way to push you to get it wrong. I've studied and reviewed quiz questions and none have been included in the 4 tests,
This is a rough class. Pozos only covers a fraction of material needed for tests during his lectures. Going to class is pointless. The modules contain a lot of information. Try and get good grades on the module quizzes to make up for the tests. The section tests are ridiculously hard, even though it is open note.
Pozos is pretty good. The module quizzes aren't too bad once you get the hang of them. They cover a great range of topics that are interesting. Need to study pretty hard for tests but there are only a few. Just keep reviewing material as you finish each module. Also he offers an extra credit paper that is long but will really boost your grade.
Horrible. Doesn't let students get ahead even though it's an online course. Lectures don't have the information required to answer some of the questions in the quizzes. I can tell he is one of those instructors that knows the information and thinks those who are NOT bio majors should be as well informed. I'd use some bad words if I could.
This hybird class is difficult on top of difficult. BIO 100 shouldn't be hard but Pozos is definitely a challenge. I have an A in my Bio 100 LAB yet, barely passing with a C in this BIO 100 course. He says " students who pass, use the quizzes as a study guide" Ive done just that but it doesn't help, ive passed every quiz, but failed EVERY test.
Lectures have nothing to do with online quizzes so mandatory is not necessary. Even taking detailed notes does not help on quizzes, luckily all the answers are online so it's easy to get good grades on those. 4 tests, which all have very unclear questions that notes and quizzes do not help on. 50 pt. extra credit paper will save your grade.
Get a group to work together, homework isn't bad so make sure you do well on that to pass the class. Tests will be the death of you...
Overall... Pozos was okay. The modules are long and sometimes confusing & the tests are definitely difficult if you don't read. If you can take another professor for Bio100, go for it.
Took the hybrid version of this class but I already know whatever class you take w/this guy will be a painful one. Aced the quizzes but rarely got above a D+ on an exam. Went to every class, took notes but it wasn't enough to make me feel like i learned the content. There was no other option for a teacher but if you have one, take a different one
I got a C, the only grade lower than a B I've gotten. If you have to take this class I'm sorry and good luck.
People are being way too whiny about this class. Regardless of what grade you receive, I would just like to point out that POZOS ACTUALLY HAS INTERESTING LECTURES. They aren't absolutely necessary to attend for the hybrid course, but they are definitely worth going to. Know and understand the modules and you'll get the grade you want.
Quite possibly the worst class and professor I have ever taken at SDSU. You can go to lecture and take good notes, but they wont help you on the exams at all. What he talks about in class has NOTHING to do with the exams. Don't waste your time. Tests are ridiculously hard, detailed, and most people fail them. Only way I passed was the extra credit
Took the online segment. Horrible professor. Tries to word things to make you get the wrong answers instead of teaching actual concepts. Module quizzes I did great on, and then the questions on the exams are not from the material that was in the modules and readings! Can get a B pretty easily, but won't learn much.
I was in the lecture class and never went because this class is basically all online. The modules are 50% of your grade and are straight out of the readings. The exams are hard and the questions he ask never really relate to the readings. Good extra credit opportunity to try and make up points.
Dr. Pozos' class is mostly online. Always do the modules! Just don't miss any and you'll do fairly well. Mostly everyone scores low on the tests, so the test curve is pretty good. His lectures can be boring, but he cracks jokes often. If you talk to him after class or at his office, he is a very caring professor, so talk to him!
I honestly liked Dr. Pozos bio class. He's a pretty interesting a guy &his lectures were enjoyable. But it was tough class. There were 3 quizzes that were given each week, 3 exams and Final. If you want to pass the class, stay on top of your modules &come to class even if you don't want to,and ask a lot of questions. Don't slack and you'll do fine.
Do yourself and favor and just don't. Last spring, I only took this class because it was required for my major and he was the only professor listed. He lectures using specific terminology we don't understand and exams are incredibly hard. I didn't really learn. Do the extra credit if you find the time. This professor is not worth the frustration.
This class is awful. If you can, take it from someone else. - The material is explained very poorly, and with poor grammar. I bought a different textbook to understand the concepts better - The quizzes and EC will save your grade - The professor is non-responsive or is slow to respond, and doesn't meet his own deadlines when he does respond.
This class was really tough. There are 3 tests and a final. Also theres about 3 homework assignments a week which you have to do to be able to pass this class. I got a D on three tests but still passed with a B- because of the homework. I felt that the tests were way more in depth than the readings. Take another professor if you can
More difficult than calc II. His class consists of 3 midterms, a final, and a quiz every other day. All the quizzes and tests are online, and going to his lecture does not help. The quizzes can be found online; however, his test are completely different and the questions do not contain info from his modules. He does not respond to emails.
One of the worst classes I have ever taken in my life. The Prof has a lot of knowledge and experience, which made it hard for me to follow with him. We had to read almost 1000 page for the final, so think twice before taking this class.
All the assignments consists of 10 questions quizzes that are assigned 3-5 times a week but most of your grade is from 4 exams that are meant to challenge you rather than making it an online class where you can simply look up the answers.
This class consists of completing 3-4 quizzes each week on a online program called TopHat, 3 Tests, and 1 cumulative final covering 45 chapters of material. The tests and final were the hardest exams I have ever taken at SDSU. If you do not find Biology interesting, I strongly suggest not taking this class. It was extremely hard to be successful.
This class was easily one of the most poorly organized classes I've taken in all my years of schooling. This class was an online class and the lectures are just notes, with the occasional video. There are 3-4 10 question quizzes a week, three midterms, and a final. All are ridiculously hard and the answers are rarely in the notes.
Pozos was hands down the worst science professor I've had, he is so organized there is no textbook its his own written word, this course does not correlate with the lab. He offers a 50 point extra credit research paper to help you raise your grade without no one would have passes this class
um. just don't. THE HARDEST tests you can imagine, if you're not a bio expert you won't get a good grade, which is ironic because it is an entry college level class for freshman. Save yourself the trauma, go take this class at Mesa if you have too.
I took the online Bio 100 class and it was extremely difficult. The homework quizzes are easy, but the exams are impossible. You have to remember the entire chapter word for word to get an A. Usually, the exams are on about 14 chapters so it's a lot of information to remember. He makes review videos but they aren't that helpful.
Lots of work, tests are very hard even if you study, but most quiz & test answers are online via CourseHero. Just time consuming
His tests have nothing to do with the course material. For a Bio100 class I felt like I was learning way too much and going into what too much detail. He offers extra credit but it will take time and effort and you still may end up short of points you think you deserve.
There is way too much information given at one time, the tests are extremely hard and not applicable to the reading. I get almost 100% on every Lab test for biology but a D on his exams. A friend of mine never read a chapter and got an A because her test happened to be online, mine was not, its the luck of the draw. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT
TIP: Due to A HUGE AMOUNT of contents in this class, you should work smarter not harder for this class. That being said, test and exam are all online and are ALWAYS curved 70% or else. Extra credit gives 50 points but you are guaranteed to get at 30 points if you meet the requirements. Spend 5 mins per quiz, 2 months for the paper. Hint:CourseHero
Does not communicate, doesn't care about external factors like the fact that TopHat is terrible and caused so many issues. Does not get back to you in a timely manner and is quite frankly rude. LOTS of information that is very depth. Honestly the worst class.
