NOT AN EASY A. This class is an easy C tho. Taken onlin, doing 100% of homework and 50% on mid-term and Final = C. A B comes with a Brain.. But the A is a challenge.

I took his class online during this summer. I really had to spend much time(like more 10-15 hours/per week) doing homework. Since taking the class online was too demanding, I don't recommend you to take it online.

Mr. Urell is a great guy by all means! I am still currently in his class, If you have a busy schedule or un motivated dont take him. He gives alot of home work and alot of study time is required.But if you love business he is the best you can get at IVC! Definately recommend him!

Sure there's a lot of material to be covered. However, accounting is quite manageable as long as you do your homework. Urell must be one of the most hard-working teachers at IVC. He is an expertly-skilled teacher and a very caring person.

Hard class but a kind, and CARING Prof. he WANTS you to understand not just to pass. DONT take Thorpe! Urell explains things from the beginning, dosent falsely assume you already have an understanding of the material. HIGHLY recommended.

Prof. Urell is demanding of his students, but extremely fair. I'm taking his online class. I never expected to have to put in so much time toward this class. He is probabely one of the best teachers I've ever had. Phenomenol method of teaching, fabulous sense of humor, He makes sure everybody's well understood the sbject. Gives great examples to clarify and simplify the subject. Attend every class, do the homeworks and you don't even have to worry about the exams !ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED !!

Excellent teacher, really knows his stuff. He teaches everything clearly, just make sure to show up everyday and take good notes. Make sure to purchase the book from the bookstore, as the online homework requires the key code enclosed with the book. Tests can be difficult, accounting isn't a subject for everyone!

His class is not hard, but not easy. When he lets you use a handwritten cheat sheet, don't depend on it too much or you'll not learn anything. The chapters in accounting 1A and 1B build upon each other, it you don't know chapter 6, chapter 7 and up will be VERY hard. Just make sure you get the basics all memorized.

Acct is hard but this professor made it easy..he is very clear on what will be on tests..he is super nice and cares for all of his students..i just took him for summer class and i dont want to say it was a lot of work bc it wasnt it was just time consuming.this is an excellent prof. Honestly, I didn't like this class when I was in it but then I took ACCT 1B w/ Bradshaw and I WISH I had Urell back! After taking a diff [horrible] professor, I know understand why Urell teaches the way he does - it works. I recommend him a lot. I recommend taking ACCT 1B with a homeless man over taking it with Bradshaw.

I miss Urell! Taking Atallah and there is a BIG diff between the 2. If you go to class, pay attention, and do the HW, you should get a B. Study a little and it's an easy A. I can't see how anyone can get lower than a B by doing all the above. PLUS, he makes class fun even though the subject is not the most exciting. Wish he taught the 2nd session.

Professor Urell was one of the best teachers I have ever had.He really cares about his students. Like most good teachers, if you willing to make the effort to learn he will help you all he can. If your a whiner and a slacker you probably will not get much help from him. I busted my hump and got a B in his class and learned a lot.

Taught just like his Accounting 1A class online. Weekly progress reports, weekly online test. In the beginning you might think it is a lot of work, but it is not. His teaching style ensures that you will get at least a B. I surprised myself and got an A in both MGT1 and ACCT1A. He is a great professor, take his classes for good grades!

I highly recommend Urell's online accouting classes. Took 1A & 1B with him. Weekly chap tests (very similar to Hw prbs, open book/notes) with no midterms or final. Projects for 1B but he's an easy grader. Just do the work = easy "A"

Took his business class online over the summer. Great class with an awesome textbook and lots of interesting assignment. The progress reports are tedious, tho. I missed 2 tests and got a B. My fault. Overall, very helpful professor with great communication. Recommended.

I took 4 test so far, and I got over 95% for all test. He is an esay grader, and willing to help. There are 5 test and final, and he drops lowest score. take his class for easy A

Accounting is not an easy class. I took Urell and thought he was a great professor. He gives you information on black board about everything, you just have to use it to your benefit. No bad surprises, he tells you exzactly what will be ont the test. He wants you to do well. Take him over any other accounting professor.

I think Urell is a good professor to take if you are an accounting major. If you aren't interesting in accounting, definitely avoid. Failed me with a 69.6, and violated rules on his syllabus to do so. I appealed to dean but still did not change my grade. Very childish to fail me because I didn't take his class seriously.

Professor Urell is very approachable. Has his office hours clearly marked on blackboard. He goes over every homework problem in class. It is a hard class, he wants you to succeed. He will answer you on blackboard discussion form. He is fair. Other comments I have read, seem to be from students who didn't study and failed to take advantage of tools.

Urell makes acct more difficult than it really is. If this is your ONLY class, you do not work, and NEVER get sick; take this class! He make you feel dumb for asking questions in class. He call on people randomly in class-be ready! He grade test rediciously hard. Have to do hw before you test, if not, 15pts will be dedcted from test grade.

Urell makes it FUN and easy to understand. He has a good sense of humor (some people may not get it and think its condesending) but GREAT TEACHER. Made class fun. Acct is a difficult subject, like learning new language, but if you put in the work you will get good grade. He is very helpful and repeats repeats repeats which help in learning material

Urell makes Accounting really clear. I don't like it how he calls on random people in class, but you will learn a lot from Urell. His lectures on difficult topics are easy to understand. As long as you do HW Manager, Study the inclass activities, and take practice multiple choice questions before tests, I will guarantee you an A! 5 Tests+Final.

Professor Urell does a lot to help his students learn the material. I found his online tutorial videos extremely helpful. For those who don't like to be addressed directly though, Prof Urell may not be the best choice. None of his questions are rhetorical. Except, "how we all doing with this?" Good luck!

Really great professor. Gave weekly progress reports, and quizzes. Quizzes were fair and to the point and loved how he gave online video tutorials for the online class. That helped out TREMENDOUSLY. Definitely recommend taking this professor for other courses in business.

Prof. Urell seems very intimidating and he's very strict but nonetheless a great professor. He's straight to the point about what he wants and missing class will affect you greatly. In class is much harder than online but if you want to learn take it in-class. He only wants you to succeed and youll get an A if you work REALLY hard.

If you put in work into this class you will get an A. Just do the homework and make sure you do not miss the test review. I took business management online this past summer. Great class. We had some interesting projects, ie building our own company blueprint. He really likes you to be involved online/blackboard.You get to "know" your virtual classmates pretty well.It isn't a class you can coast through; you have to do your work. I learned ALOT.That's the point, right?

lots of work, lots of material, but he gives you plenty of help with his videos, tutorials, and online tutoring. very helpful and straight forward, however can be condescending sometimes & will put you on blast. great teacher though, take this class if you want to learn accounting.

Hard class. The teacher likes to pick on people who are having a hard time in class.

Here's the deal: He knows his stuff, makes it fairly clear, and challenges you (No easy A). However, he also writes trick questions on tests, can be cranky and condescending, and only teaches one approach (namely his). If you really want to learn, and don't have thin skin, then he is good. Wonderful teacher! The secret to getting an "A" in his class is to watch his tutorial videos on blackboard befor every lecture...they are extremely helpful in helping you understand each concept.

I'm currently taking his online class. there weekly assignments such as, homework, discussions, and summary report at the end. Theirs a timed exam each week for the chapters, the exam isn't to hard most of questions you can find on Google. Professor Urell responds rite away to e-mails. The final is on one chapter & is taken on campus!

Currently taking his online MGT 1 course. At orientation I thought this class was going to be so hard, but I was wrong. You do 1 chapter per week - homework, exam and summary email to him by Sunday each week. Not that hard! He's VERY helpful and always responds quickly to emails. 3 group projects and an individual project in lieu of the final.

Prof. Urell is strait to the point. He actually teaches you the information to pass the class. His tests are exactly how he tells you they are, he doesnt try and trick you. The homework is mandatory and you dont receive any points for it which is a bummer because its a lot of time and work but i recommend his class over any other accounting class!

Accounting and math based subjects in general are typically hard for me. Professor Urell's class is not easy, but with time and effort on the students part, it is possible to get a decent grade. I like the way he works through sample problems in the class and he provides online videos to assist in some of the more difficult homework problems.

I took this class online and it wasn't too bad. The class was A LOT of work, but it was really straightforward. Basically, it was homework each week, discussion board post each week, and a test each week. The final pretty much covered one chapter, so it wasn't too bad. Prof. Urell is a good guy; I would definitely recommend his course.

If you want to LEARN, not just take the class but actually learn the material, take Professor Urell. I took this class during the summer & it was brutal! Covered a chapter day & had a test every wk but I got through it. He makes the material easy to understand & he is easy to follow. Lets you know exactly what is going to be on the test beforehand.

I took his Summer course and it is BRUTAL. He's not joking on the first day of class that you won't have a life for the next 6 weeks if you want an A. Attend every class, take detailed notes, and get to know the material like the back of your hand and you'll be good. Prof. Urell offers a challenging class, but putting in the work is rewarding.

Only take this class if you're willing to work hard. He takes attendance seriously and it's for your own good. There is a heavy amount of homework and studying outside of class, so be prepared to work. He's very organized and provides all the information you need during lectures for the exams. I'm taking this course over the summer semester & it is no joke. 6 wk course, 3x a wk, 4hrs a day. We read a chapter a day, and there's lots of HW. I took the 6 week class over the summer, & it was HARD WORK. I did more work in 3 weeks of this class than I did the whole past semester at my university. He's clear, knowledgeable, demanding, & a good teacher, but don't expect an easy A, or an easy B, or an easy C, really. Be prepared to do the work, study hard, & ask questions, & you'll survive.

He is simply the best! Professor Urell really cares if his students understand the concepts and do well on the exams. He explained everything clearly and easier to understand, so attending class became fun and mandatory. Homework and reading are time-consuming, but it will pay off. EASY BUT LOTS OF WORK. I took the summer accounting 1A class, and there is a lot of work to do. The work isn't necessarily hard, but just time consuming. I suggest always being ahead of the class and do the extra credit. Honestly, I learned a lot from this class he may seem very strict, but he wants you to the principles. Would take him again.

If accounting is your future and you want to succeed, Urell is the way to go. A few hours a week with this guy will save you a lot of hours with your textbook later when you're taking intermediate.

Good teacher, really nice guy, but WAY TOO INTENSE. Everyone is on edge the entire time in his class. He is very demanding and wants things done his exact way. He is good at teaching the material, but for the amount of stress everyone had during every class made it a dread to go.

Does his best to give you the materials needed to succeed in his class. HOWEVER, the difference between taking tests online and the final in person was brutal. I was destroyed. I averaged a 95% on his online tests and got a 65% on the final. Just be sure to do ALL the work and get As on them! He's very fair on attempts to complete your work.

Urell is tough but is really effective at teaching you how to approach accounting. He can be intimidating during class but is truly kind if you speak to him in private. There is a lot of material so lecture moves by quick but he always covers everything we need. Focus on calculations and formatting from problems in class and review his videos.
