Clearest Math communicator that the school has!!! Doesn't make it easy by any means but makes it clear and understandable. Syllabus is VERY clear and there are no suprises in his classes. I also took him for Mac 1114 and Mac 1140

Mr. Young is an extraordinarily excellent instructor. The math he teaches is very difficult but he makes it seem like a peice of cake. He also offers tutoring hours for students where he will sit with you individually and work with you.

As an older student, I am not the greatest algebra wiz. Things come very difficultly. Mr. Young's positive attitude and willingness to work one-on-one kept me from dropping this class (and college entirely). I am still in the game at the last week of class and feel confident about passing the course. This is truly a miracle!

Young makes class enjoyable with his EVERYDAY humor. He does plenty of examples from each chapter. Everything he goes over is what is on the tests. no surprises. he provides help during office hours and is great at explaining things. If you have trouble with math this is the teacher to take.

The only professor to get this inept mathematician through college algebra. It's true that he piles on the homework, but practice makes perfect and you'll thank him later. Can be silly at times...

Mr Young is the best math teacher HANDS DOWN at BCC! Yes you will get homework but if you do not want it then you should not be in college. I am thankful that he actually grades my homework rather than not even collecting it like most at BCC. Ilearned more in college algebra than I ever thought possible and I owe my success to Young. I thought I would never get through intermediate algebra online, but Young made it possible. Everything is so laid out and easy to follow on his webpage. He gives you chances for extra credit and practice tests. He really made me learn to like math instead of dreading it. I would recommend Young to all students scared about math!!!

If you aren't good at math, you should definately take Mr. Young. He was thinking about becoming the department chair when I had him and he definately should. He may make some zany Star Trek references, but he is always around to help. Make sure you take the practice tests, they're almost exact to the real ones but with numbers changed.

he is funny and always joking. he helps you and explains it all but he doenst let you use anything on test like all the other teachers so. all your grade consist of is test and then homework which is the review at the end of that chapter and he grades it like he grades a test! his class can be fun but its hard!

I had him for college algebra and bombed the first test. After that I realized that everything he said was true as far as extra credit and homework goes. He is very helpful and is really good at explaining everything in depth so that you get a full understanding. AWESOME TEACHER GET HIM IF YOU CAN!!

Mr. Young is very good at explaining difficult math concepts and making them understandable but he moves along very quickly - he talks a lot - he is funny but sometimes he talks too much - like when you are trying to take a test. That can be very distracting.

He is a very funny teacher. I like him a lot. He tells jokes and keeps the students entertained throughout the entire class. He doesn't give too much work, just the chapter review and a preview test for each chapter. The preview test is EXACTLY like the real tests, even the same questions sometimes. If you do the work & study you can get an A.

I took his hybrid class which was amazing. I got a 100% on every single hw because it shows you exactly how to do the problem step by step. Take the hybrid class for sure. And Mr. Young is the nicest guy in the world.

Excellent teacher i took his night class for pre cal trig and he's a fun out going teacher. does sometimes run off on tangents but makes the class more entertaining.. actually speaks english and gives plenty of extra help if you need it.

Mr. young explains the occasional subject of college algebra in a way that makes sense.if you don't understand something, and you bring it to his attention, he will stop and go back until you understand. he makes thing easy to remember,and has like a million ways to get help from him outside of class. awesome teacher!!!

He is passionate about math and makes class fun even. He gives students every opportunity to do well because he genuinely cares about us, unlike most teachers who just teach b/c it's their job.

I took him for hybrid. Very easy class. His online videos are the best and he works with you. EASY EASY EASY!!!!!!!!!!!! this was my second time taking the class first time I got an F now I EARNED an A!

Wouldn't say his class is "easy" but if you attend, take notes, & do the work you'll have no issue getting a B. Extra credit is available. He gives 5 quizzes (drops the lowest), 3 tests, final. Practice quizzes and tests are available on Angel so there are no surprises on what kind of questions he'll ask. Great teacher, very helpful & entertaining!

Videos explain everything well. He has one night each week that he is available on-line to students. He gives extra credit. He answers emails in a timely manner. Great teacher!!

Bob was most helpful this semester. I took Intermediate Algebra online and he was very good about scheduling weekly chat sessions to go over any questions we had. He also graded fairly and gave many opportunities for extra credit. Hopefully I'll be taking College Algebra with him in the fall.

Took this class online using MathXL, you must purchase an acssess code. His videos are what got me threw this class. Everything else is online with MathXL. You have weekly homework and Test 1,2,3 and final are taken at the learning lab. He is fast to respond to email and I would highly recommend him.

This is the best math teacher there is at the entire college. He gives you a lot of video help, live chats and good feedback. There is plenty of time for homework and test. Each week there is extra credit. You can work ahead if you choose too. take him.

I thought intermediate math would be difficult. Not only did I pass, I LOVED IT AND HIM! What a great person he is. He is crystal clear in his explanation and has a wonderful sense of humor. He makes the class super entertaining. He gives loads of extra credit, and goes out of his way to help people. He makes you like math, SERIOUSLY!

I took intermediate algebra online with him, and it was the best math class I have ever taken. I always struggled with math in high school, but he made it easy. The only complaint I have about the class is that some of his videos only played sound through one headphone. There was no textbook, you only had to buy a subscription to mathXL.

Great teacher! Tries very hard to help you get an A. I hate math and have very little patience for it. He helped tremendously! I highly recommend him!

He gives you every chance to succeed and everything, the EC included, is designed to give you a leg up. I thought I hated Algebra but I don't, now that I have been taught by the best. He will go over anything that you need and also makes the class fun with his humor. Mr. Young was AWESOME! I had to study hard to earn my good grade and Mr. Young was there every time I needed him. He puts out plenty of tools and material to help a student succeed. He gets back very promptly if help is needed. The rest is really up to the student. If you want to succeed plan to study at least 15 hours per week.

Professor Young is an excellent instructor. He goes out of his way to help his students. College Algebra is a tough course, but he makes it understandable. He gives extra credit and students have access to his step by step instructional videos. I am extremely grateful to have had him as an instructor. He is the best math instructor at EFSC!

I took the hybrid class with Mr. Young, he is awesome helps you any way he can. Get 100 on all your HW it is doable you can get 100 in the HW. Do the extra credit he gives and the practices and your A or B is in the bag. His text book is all online it makes learning and communication with the professor easy. Good Luck!

Mr. Young is the best math teacher ever! I took College Algebra in the fall. I am taking him this semester for Trigonometry. He is there to help you and wants you to succeed. He is also funny and engaging. He gives easy extra credit on each practice test and test and the practice tests that you do on your own really help prepare you for his tests.

AMAZING! He really wants all of his students to succeed and goes above and beyond to make that happen. He posts videos, notes, practice test, everything you could imagine to aid you during his class not to mention he will email you videos if you need help! He is absolutely HILARIOUS. I wish I could take him for every math class! TAKE HIM!!!!!!

I really thought Mr. Young was a great tutor when I needed help, but in class it was really hard to go along. The thing that I didn't really like is that he expected you to know things prior to the class, which made it difficult when I went and applied things on my own. He is always there if you need help and he expects the most effort out of you

Honestly the best math teacher i have ever had. I am really bad at math but he helps it to be somewhat understandable. He gives so much extra credit that really helps boost up your grade and it is easy extra credit too! He is so enthusiastic so the class is never boring despite it being math. He will be seeing me in college algebra!

For anyone who struggles with math I highly recommend Professor Young. He can make even the most difficult topics easy to understand, and provides ample amounts of extra credit. Some people mention his tests being hard, but that's simply because math is not easy and tests have to cover state-required material.

Professor Young is an excellent math professor. I find his lectures easy to follow, and enjoyable, because he is nice, relaxed, and his examples are clear. I always loved math. I will take trig with him next semester. I wish I could take all my math classes with him.

Great Teacher. Looking forward to take more credits with him. Has many resources to help you. Sends out personalized video emails to respond to your questions. School should use him as the benchmark to meet for a quality education.

He literally doesn't allow you to NOT get the material. Actual learning goes on in this classroom. He has all these analogies and easier ways of doing things. You're not just memorizing steps in a math problem, you're getting explained WHY you're doing these things. So many opportunities for extra credit.

Best math instructor at the college

Great teacher!! If you struggle with math, he is the guy to take. He explains things well & it really helps. Unfortunately he wont be teaching stat or else I would taking him again.... College algebra is tough though, so brace yourselves.

He teaches like a kid that is excited for a present on Christmas but it makes a usually dull subject engaging. I had him in the morning and he was almost better than coffee for waking me up.

He gives an extra credit opportunity before each test, most of which were just writing paragraphs about math site recommendations. He puts all his effort into helping his class succeed. Mr Young is a great teacher. Unfortunately, i struggled with his class; but it is possible to pass his class. I'm sure i probably didn't try hard enough but if i can pass, so can you. There is a total of 4-5 tests, practice tests with each test and homework throughout the week. He also gives you extra credit for every test.

As a student that usually struggles with math, Professor Young was great. I took him online, he makes instructional videos for every lesson that are a huge help. You can tell that he genuinely loves math and he explains it in a way that's easy for anyone to understand.

I took Mr. Young for College Trigonometry. You can tell right away that he really loves math and he really loves teaching. Trigonometry isn't easy for a lot of students but he really tries his best to explain everything as best he can. I've now moved on to Calculus and the fundamentals he taught are helping out a ton!

I did not know what to expect going into this course however, Mr. Young did an outstanding job utilizing Canvas and MYMathLab to give his students a clear expectation even before stepping into his class. There are plenty of resources available, I am not the most confident student in math but he brings of the best in his students. Take his class!!!!

I've always been bad at math and after failing college algebra the first time I never thought I'd be able to pass this class. Bob Young cares about students and offers extra credit, amazing study tools online and in person, and other helpful tips throughout. Without his hilarious and effective teaching methods I wouldn't of passed this class.

I suck at math but I got an A in this class (after getting a C in intermediate algebra which was taken online with an instructor that didn't always respond to requests for help in time for the test). For me, the A took quite a bit of intense work. Generous extra credit and fabulous DIY lecture videos were very much appreciated!

Very great teacher. Hes goofy and out there which is different from the average teacher. He makes up funny sayings and tries his best to relate math with real world examples. I was never bored in his class. He picks on everyone so beware and pay attention at all times. I would definitely recommend him. I wish I could take him for Stats.

I had him once a week for trig at night, it was not a good time, but he made the class lively. You really have to work for a good grade but he gives easy and useful extra credit, it isn't much but it could bring your test up a letter grade. Loves interacting with his students, will 100% talk to you at least once.

It's math, you have to work on it daily if you want to understand the concepts. This professor also created and posted videos of him teaching each lesson. Watch them and take notes and you will do fine. He is actually quite hilarious in the videos and makes learning less intimidating. There is extra credit and he helps anyone, just ask!

Tests were exactly like the practice tests and only two were proctored. Unlimited tries on HW and offers extra credit. He is specific about showing work for everything on tests, but it wasn't a problem if you just do it. Overall, it was a great choice for math and I would take a class with him again.

Honestly, Mr. Young is the best math teacher I have ever had in a very long time. I suck at math and he makes math really fun, he made my experience at EFSC so much fun. He is a gem and he really cares for his students, he really tries to help his students pass and gives out extra credit that is super simple and quick to do.

I would highly recommend this professor especially if you have ADD or ADHD because his lectures are just that thorough and he explains the material clearly. A good class to take in the morning because he will wake you up! If you keep up with the homework and pay attention, you'll be fine )

This professor makes you work for your grade. Good amount of homework. Practice test for every chapter (not proctored, get 3 tries). There are 3 tests total (2 are proctored, one is take home). There is no midterm, but there is a final exam (also proctored). Required to send in work for all tests. Extra credit on all tests and practice tests.
