Super easy. I went to class for the exams and that was it and I still got an A. The tests are identical to the hw. Didn't really learn anything.

He is straight forward. Take him! One thing I like about him is that he basically doesnt give you surprises on exams. Just study the homework problems and his slides and your golden! Dont really need to go to class much but he is funny at times. If you do bad on the 1st exam you can redeem yourself with the 2nd and 3rd.

He is the man. He reminds me of Conan Obrein. Study the preposted study guide before every test and study the graghs! Other than that you will learn how to smil and laugh in this class, who ever thought in an Econ class! Great class learned a lot!

Funny guy gives you 70% of the exam the rest is 30 questions mult choice. Same exact questions and numbers on the test like he says doesn't change a thing! Showed up to class like 6 times the whole year got an A

He is awesome. TAKE HIM. If you see a chance to get in his class you definitely should. He is funny and he relates all course material to real life, making ECON a lot easier to understand than most professors do. Great class, no regrets taking it.

The study guide he gives has all of his written test questions in it WORD FOR WORD! Memorize it because the written portion is 70% of the test grade. The only grades in the course are the three tests. He's a great guy but kinda boring. I still always recommend going to class.

Funny dude with a really dry sense of humor. Knows Economics up and down and does a nice job lecturing. No laptop or attendance policy so the class remained largely disengaged. Added aplia online homework to the course Fall 2014 and it was a pain in the ass but he curved it graciously. Would take again.

Attendance is optional...I was better off when I chose not to attend. His classes left me more confused than when I entered the room. The book, however, is essential. Homework is tedious, but helpful. The written part of his tests come directly from the study guide, but multiple choice questions are unclear and hardly related to the topic.

Lectures are long and often vague. He likes to draw graphs on the board, then ask if the class understands. If nobody outright objects, it's onto the next. Attendance is optional- I was better off teaching myself. Weekly graded homework, use the book, tests are half given ahead of time and half multiple choice that almost relates to what we learn

I could have probably skipped almost every class and still gotten an A. Didn't learn very much from his lectures.. but he can be pretty funny and entertaining to listen to. He basically spends the whole class cracking up at his own jokes. Good prof for an intro econ class. He posts half the answers for the exams on Sakai. Aplia can be tedious

This class is an easy B+, but I wouldn't say an easy A. The homework is online using Aplia and it's really hard. It takes the average of all your attempts. His lectures are very confusing and don't supplement Aplia. I basically never had any idea what he was saying.

Don't recommend him if you haven't taken econ or aren't good at math. I was lost the whole time and had to teach myself. Weekly quizzes online through Aplia which are extremely confusing. Apparently he gives the answers to exams but I haven't gotten to the first exam yet.

Not a very good teacher. Very unclear what he was saying most of the time, and none of his lectures made any sense. He usually say something that you can't understand, and then draw a bunch of graphs that don't make much sense. He will write formulas on the board, but then not give any examples on how they are used. Would never take or recommend.

The tests are weighed pretty heavily on your grade and get progressively harder, so try to study a lot before the first exam to help cushion your grade. Barnes is slightly intimidating to talk to because of his sense of humor, but if you go to office hours with specific questions, he makes himself available. Of the econ professors, he's good.

He doesn't teach anything in lecture, you basically have to teach yourself all the material. Honestly, his thick southern accent is so hard to understand over his constant "ummmm" and "ahhhh"s. Seriously he is a last resort teacher.

He only spends a little time teaching in class, but if you read the textbook and put the time to understand the material, then you should be fine. His exams are straightforward if you studied. He gives you a worksheet of the topics you should know for the exam. 3 exams and 3 quizzes make up the grade.

Every class that I went to was a total waste of time, his lectures are awful, if you miss a test or quiz he is not nice about making it up and if he does its 10x harder. You'll use the book, have 3 tests and 3 quizzes and attendance is not mandatory however he takes it randomly.

This dude is a riot. Probably the best lectures I've had solely because of his offhand comments. You never know what is going to come out of his mouth. Tests are manageable and he is very knowledgeable, but it can sometimes be hard to get the important information out of him. Take him if you want a good time in Econ (ask him about Bobby Burgers)

The opposite of the best teacher ever but the funniest by far. Let's us out of class 15 early every day. Classes can get so v boring as its him talking the whole time. Hw is really easy. Studied just 2 hours a week and got an A. Tests are easy if you study as content is basic. Probably repeats test every semester. SOmetimes passes by sign in sheet.

Bobby Barnes is a legend. Super funny, cracks a lot of jokes in class. Take your time to get to know him and go to office hours, it'll be worth it. He's pretty flexible with due dates and extensions if you're having a genuine issue. Definitely would take again.

Three tests, 25% each and MC. Final is non-cumulative. Homework is 25%--do it to the best of your ability because your score will be averaged into the grade. Attendance is random. I would read the textbook because the lectures can be a bit unclear at times and he goes off on tangents. Also probably don't take if you don't have a background in econ.

Not the best econ teacher at LUC, but if you read the docs he gives for every chapter - you'll be fine. No slides, simply speaks or writes on the board. Grade is based on 5 h/ws (5% ea) and 3 exams (25% ea), no attendance check. Barnes is a good guy, the only problem is that he doesn't understand that his jokes are not always as funny as he thinks.

He's a decent professor. Attendance is not mandatory but he passes around a sign-in sheet twice for extra credit. Curves some tests. Grade based on 75% 3 tests and 25% online HW. No final. I would suggest going to class once a week to stay on track but it's not needed. I usually didn't get much out of his lectures but the review days are good.

Would be easier to understand the class if it didn't sound like his fist was in his mouth the entire lecture. Makes awkward eye contact. Half the time goes off topic. Found better success from just not showing up to class and then learning on my own time because he absolutely makes no sense.

Bobby was a very interesting character. While he was funny for the off topic comments, he did not teach me any Macro. I learned mainly from the book and, at the beginning, my micro professor. All of the tests are mc - which is lazy for an econ professor. Do not take this class if you want to learn/ get an easy A.

It's almost like this guy has given up as professor and is just coasting along with tenure. You are graded by three progressively difficult multi-choice tests and graded HW. I had to take two of his classes and was dumbfounded by his inability to stay on track, relate the homework to the exams, or so much as formulate a sentence. I don't think he knows what he's doing. Nothing he says makes much sense and he doesn't explain things often. You have to teach yourself from the book and try to keep up. Half the time it seems like hes high because he laughs at nothing or says things that don't even resemble a sentence. He makes econ much less fun than I know it can be. Stay away.

Prof. Barnes is a great professor. If anyone says he's not, it's probably because they don't come to class, don't read the book or don't care. He does his job: prepares his lectures and material, explains thoroughly and is super available during office hours to clarify everything if you ask. He is hard to understand. Seems like he comes to class inebriated every day. Can barely understand the point he is trying to get across. He makes strange and unrelated analogies as examples. Lectures have little to no relevance for tests or homework. The only way to do well in his class is to take your own notes and get help from other sources.

Really sweet professor. He definitely wants to see you succeed. He's so accessible and is always willing to clear things up. He also curves exams a bit. His lectures are kind of dry, but read the book and you'll understand him. His exams aren't as easy, but not as tough either. Just read and MAKE SURE to do Aplia, no matter how tedious it is.

This man is the GOAT. 3 exams and homework make up the grade, with each being worth 25%. He gives study guides before each exam and lets you know what to study. He often gives extra points on exams and curves depending on how the class did. I had a C+ going into the final and ended with an A-. Reviews on here are fake news, he's the GOAT.

I took this class the first semester of my freshman year and was unsure what to expect. The class is exclusively lecture, and aplia/packback outside of class. The tests are hard but he takes a lot of the questions directly off of aplia practice tests. If you study the class isn't hard, if you don't the class becomes much more difficult.

Make sure you do all the homework on time, it effects your grade a lot but it's online. The online access to homework and the online book is $100+ and you can't get access any other way. His exams are exactly like the practice tests he gives you and other questions are from the online textbook practice test. Highly recommend!!

One of the most interesting teachers at Loyola. He will make jokes about everything and is a delight in class. His exams were sometimes the exact same as the study guides. He definitely expects you to read before class. I would recommend him for an entry-level business course.

Bottom line, this guy just doesn't know how to teach. Draws a lot of graphs that are somewhat helpful, but if you don't teach yourself the course through the book, then you aren't going to pass. If this is the only professor left, don't panic, but if you have someone else available, take them instead.

Literally the greatest professor I have ever had. His test are the exact same as the study guide. The homework is impossible but he curves it like crazy as long as you do it all. You literally have to spend hours doing APLIA to get a decent grade on his exams. Final was atrocious. He does not record his lectures and his note sheets make no sense if you don't go to class. Worst final I've ever taken. Avoid if you can, since each exam is 25% of your grade and if you mess one up, you have little hopes to recover....

Never posts video lectures, or notes with markups, or anything to help you understand what is going to be on exams. Since we were online, he got lazy & didn't bother even curving anything. Final was by far the worst exam, dropped me 2 letters because you are graded on 3 25% exams and you fail one and you're done. Save yourself and avoid him.

I liked Bobby Barnes and thought he was made class not so serious, but there are a few things that need to be cleaned up. I think the lectures should have been more engaging with group work instead of doing an online assignment once a week. I do not feel like I have retained much from this course, or am set up correctly for the next Macro.

Be prepared to listen to his lectures because he does not post them or post his notes with the markups he does in class. Lectures are not engaging and he just talks the whole time. Have to do well on the exams, but if you do bad on one, it is hard to bring the grade back up. You may have a rough time if taking another econ course after this one.

Seems like a great guy who wants to help students, but I think I would've liked his class more in person. Homework due every Sunday night that is difficult and time consuming. 3 tests and 10 forum posts due by end of semester. Lectures were kind of boring (he draws on a word doc) but not too bad, Id take him again. Prob shoudve asked more questions

Prof Barnes is your average Econ professor. Very understanding and nice, lectures can be boring which makes it hard to focus sometimes. Just weekly homework, and three tests (1 counts as the final). Definitely do some extra studying before the tests. Nice professor and would take him again

3 exams each 25% of your grade, homework weekly is the other 25%. If you attend lectures and take notes from each chapter (online textbook) you should do well. Prof. Barnes was great, accessible outside of class and willing to help. Econ can be boring, but Prof. Barnes tries his best with some jokes.

Professor Barnes is a really cool relaxed professor however, during his lectures he doesnt go into much detail leaving you to learn some complex topics on your own. His homework usually takes a few hours per week. His exams are very similar to the practice ones and not super hard. ECON201 was somewhat boring but his lack of detail can make it hard

Loved Bobby. I read the chapters before class and took solid notes, then his lectures would be like a funny review session. His exams aren't bad, some of the questions on it are exactly like his practice materials. As long as you put a little work in to understand it all, his class is a good choice. He also curves and gives out extra credit.

Bobby is a pretty good teacher, you just have to put in work. He is super accessible outside of class and always willing to help. I found him really funny and you can tell he cares about what he does. His tests are kind of confusing but make sure you complete the practice and ask for help if you need it.

This class is extremely difficult because of one reason: there's only 3 tests throughout the entire semester. Yes, the mindtap helps a little but still it comes all down to tests. I had to learn everything through textbook/YT videos because he wasn't the best lecturer and little to none of the lecture examples are on the tests.

Professor Barnes is very nice, although it may take time to warm up to him. Gives out extra credit every now and then. Read the chapters before class, do the study guides/review questions before exams. If you get a hang of it, you will do well. Study and do the HW!! You need to work for your grade.

Professor Barnes is very nice and helpful, especially when you visit him one-on-one. Utilize office hours and ask questions and it will be very helpful. He started giving out extra credit quizzes too. Three exams and almost weekly homework. Aim for an A on homework to boost your grade and dedicate time to study for exams.

Bobby's class is easy if you just show up and fill out the study guides for each test (there are only three) that he provides. He also gives practice questions that are almost always on the exam. Bobby is actually pretty funny if you get to know him, so go to office hours!

If you do poorly on one of the 3 exams your chances of an A go down substantially. Bobby is a lecturer who has definitely checked out mentally a long time. Hes all over the place and has no real structure to the content of his lectures aside from the lecture notes in which he goes on long unrelated tangents. Hes ok. But I wouldnt take him.

Fairly easy class. You must do the Connect homework as that will carry you through the class. There are 3 tests as well. If you have a good grade for the homework, that can carry you through his class. He also posts test questions prior to the test so make sure you look at those as theyll be on the test word for word.

Prof. Barnes is a great guy and always in a great mood. His class is based around the Mindtap homework and the book. The lectures may feel slow at times, but write down what he's saying because it's almost always important in regards to the test. 3 tests including the final, homework due almost every Sunday. Would definitely recommend Dr. Barnes.

There are 4 assignments total, 3 tests and your overall hw grade. There's not really room to improve if you don't do well on the tests. He doesn't really lecture he draws stuff from the textbook & expects you to write it down. You can not go to any class and just show up for tests. In summary, you have to do all the work for this class yourself.

No structure to lectures so if you like straight forward slides, you won't get that. He tends to ramble on about irrelevant things and is incredibly hard to follow. I had to teach myself all of the material which was a significant amount- I typed up notes to review for our midterm and it ended up being 30 pages and was missing some content.

I personally don't like his teaching style at all. He lectures with no structure and expects you to follow along. It does absolutely nothing for me and I don't see any reason to go to class anymore because of how unhelpful it is. I ended up teaching myself almost everything in this course.

Great professor, very kind & fun. The class is challenging and so are the tests, but the study guides definitely help. The textbook isn't necessary if you read the chapter handouts, but you will need to buy mindtap. It helps tremendously with your grade though! I would recommend him!

He doesn't teach, his methods are very vague. Office hours are limited and not helpful to students. I would suggesting don't take him if you are looking for guidance's. You can only fail one exam and you have to get 100 percent on homework and attendances. If you take his class "Pray" and "God rest your soul !".

He goes off on a ton of tangents and does not teach for preparation of the test. He blames students on doing poorly on test rather than helping. Most of the time when you ask question he will laugh at you and take 10 minutes to answer the question. If you are not great at Econ do not take him because he does not help.

All HW on Cengage, dropped 2 lowest scores, but cengage hw was tough to get a good grade. Tests were super hard because lectures had little to no structure. He talks in circles a lot but made us laugh a lot. Great guy, but I did not learn too much about econ. He provided practice questions for the final which ended up being almost half of the Q's.

He definitely has an odd personality. I didn't enjoy the fact that there were days in which we had no class/lecture and he didn't cancel the class. It made me feel like I was wasting time. Other than that he was a nice guy, print out the small packets he post and follow along in class and you'll get an A.

listen, he is odd. his class structure is bizarre and it takes effort to actually focus. He goes on these random side stories and im like?... Lectures can be a little all over the place but if you come to classes and listen and take notes its pretty simple to understand. Mindtaps can get a little hard but the lowest 3 grades are dropped and tests are pretty simple if you do the reviews etc. The final is not cumulative which is good. I think Barnes is just fine for a micro class.

By far the worst professor I have ever had. This man can not teach to save his life. You are graded on two things, HW and tests. During his lectures, he just rambles on about literally the most random topics and does not even talk about econ. The tests are hard, but he does give a study guide that is helpful considering you have to teach yourself.

He starts every class at least 10 minutes late and will read one sentence off his lecture notes and then go off on a random rant for the rest of class. Yells at us for bad attendance and grades but then says he hates our class and his job. His notes and practice exams are very helpful but you will have to teach yourself

You don't have to come to his lectures if you can study on your own. There is homework every week, 2 midterms and a final. He gives practice exams, do them, it'll help. His humor is kind of weird, but it's ok. I'm taking him also for econ 202, cause even though it's not an easy grade, it is possible to get an A even if you work just a little bit.

This is a very good course. Barnes is an excellent teacher. The course is well structured with the objective of the student being successful. Bobby is pretty chill. He lectures a lot and repeats himself. There is one homework per week that is pretty simple to figure out most of the time. He gives you half the answers for each exam in a study guide, but the exams can still be rough. The last Exam was brutal, half the class got 60-70%. His sense of humor is super dry but hilarious.

He is great for an intro class. This is such an easy class, tons of extra credits. 2 midterms, 1 final, 40 multiple choice questions on each exam, 20 of which he gives you before the exam. kinda just a silly goofy guy. Professor Barnes is for sure a yapper but hes entertaining and cares about his students. His exams are easy if you do even a little bit of preparation, as he gives you 20/40 exam questions with answers ahead of time. Can be hard to focus in his class if you find yourself distracted during his yap sessions. I recommend!

Dr.Barnes is one of my favorite professors here at Loyola. I have taken two classes with Dr.Barnes because he is such a caring and kind professor. BOBBY BARNES IS THE BEST!! Never failed to make me laugh which made the class VERY engaging! Graded on 3 tests, weekly HW and gave 4 extra credit opportunities. All exams are 40 MCQ and got a note card for each (also he gives you half of the answers beforehand and you can literally put them on the notecard!). Had such a great time in Bobby's class!

I LOVE bobby barnes! he is the best and if you make an effort to talk to him, he will make that same effort back. People say he scolds the class but its only bc everyone is on their laptops and ignoring him. He is direct about wanting you to pay attention, and i dont understand why people rate him lower for that.

He is one of the strangest professors I've ever had. He thought he was so funny and said the most random stuff in class, he had multiple in-class crashouts after his job wasn't renewed. I studied SO HARD for this class and never skipped and did extremely well with an A but he revealed everyone's grades and the average was a 65% and I had the only A
