Assis. Prof. Hom taught this class very well. He has a strong understanding of the content, and as a young teacher, seems to relate very well with students, I would recommend this class to anyone who is looking for a HUM credit.
May be a little harsh to students on more than one occasion, but expect the student to live up to every aspect of the syllabus novel. Really understands what he teaches, just make sure you have some caffeine before class.
Good class, learned alot. Course work is fair and rewarding, but do turn your work in on time. You will most certainly be penalized otherwise. If you pay attention, and do the optional assignments, then the A is yours!
Excellent teaching style. Encourages student expression. Grades fairly. Enjoyed his class.
As long as you go to class he is relativley easy. He is big on class participation, so if you don't like talking in class you may not like him. He does offer a lot of extra credit though.
Mr. Hom is quite helpful and his assignments are clear.
He's really really really boring, but he's nice and his class is easy. I've had a lot meaner of professors and his assignments are clearly explained. If you don't care about how intersting a class is take this for an easy A.
Repeats himself frequently during his boring lectures, and is very strict with late assignments. Class participation is almost mandatory.
Easy, helpful and very nice. He's pretty boring but he's such a great guy.
Very good teacher. I took this class on line. Discussions are very interesting, and he lets you to express your opinions very openly. I enjoyed this class. Learned a lot, and got a good grade. Highly recomend.
Great Professor, he doesn't just lecture but involves the class. He grades on participation so definitely get into the discussion in the class and online. He knows his stuff.
Mr. hom is a great teacher. He knows his stuff. if you actually want to learn, take his class. I think what you learn is worth it
I took him for american humanities on line and he was very good alot of reading and posting but an A is definitly possible very open in disscussions can state your opinions as long as they arent flat out mean
He seems like he is a boy trying to be a grown-up professor. Acts at times as if he were teaching middle school (temper tantrums, condescension). Thought he was rather irritable as a whole.
Very good teacher, but be sure to participate or your grade will lower
Is not interesting but is very clear on assignments and tests! Very helpful teacher and trys to be humorous but is still very plain and boring!
I took his online class. As long as you read the lectures that he post and stay some what active on the discussion board the class is not hard. He builds 5-extra points into his grading scale and you get 2-attempts at quizzes so he does everything he can to make getting a good grade possible.
i took his class at the starke stump center yes he is very hard but if you don't attend class how do you except him to grade you. i think it is pretty mean to say that he is boring he's only trying to help you learn he has his degree you need to act more like adults and take it for what it's worth!
Took the online class. The guy really wants you to learn and the subject matter of the class is eye opening. He does every thing possible to make a good grade possible with some participation on your part. An A is very attainable in his class.
The Online class is easy to procrastinate with and not pay attention to, but this is the recipe for an "A": 1) Read all posts or at least open the page. 2) Respond every so often 3) Take the test, click view results, copy and paste all the answers into a word doc 4) Retake the test for better s

Professor Hom's class is easy as long as you do the reading (in the text and online), come to class, and participate in class discussions and group projects. He gives you the question banks for quizzes and the essay prompts for the exams at the beginning of the semester.
VERY EASY A! If you need to fill your diversity requirement... take this class!! As long as you attend, it isn't hard to get an A. We had like 13 quizes, all online. REALLY easy stuff. Great teacher, willing to help you out if you need it.
Attendance is key, but if you do the work, it very possible to get an A. Good class.
You are farm animal dumb if you don't pass his class.
Great class, you know from day one what is expected from you including on the exams. For WEBct, Just log in do some discussions and take quizes that are from the posted lecture. passing this class should be no problem for anyone.
Good class, took it online. Pretty easy quizes are kind of difficult when interpretting the poems but other than that easy class.
Dr.Hom gives u everything u need to know from the very beginning, there is not any guess work here!!! I took this online and it was very easy!!! He is a good professor take him if u can!!!
Mr. Hom is a GREAT teacher! His grading on papers is very hard but he gives you all the tools you need to get an A. He outlines what he wants in his papers, how to pretty much write them, and gives you LOTS of help! If you wanna take a Renaissance class hes a must have!
Final essay was so hard to understand that I failed the final test. He goes strictly by points. Absoultely no curving. I do not recommend taking his cass unless you are really smart.
Mr. Hom is a pretty good teacher. There is no guesswork in what needs to be done for his class. You have everything you need up front, including deadlines, test dates, etc. Read the material, go to the exhibits (if necessary) and you'll do fine. I took it online Summer B and managed a B+.
I wouldnt recomend this teacher, hes not very helpfull at all he is outragously strict and isnt very personable whatsoever, basically dont take this class unless your a teachers pet and like to brown nose ALOT.
He is very clear and his quizzes and tests are easy as ****!
He is a really good teacher, but you have to put some time and effort into this class.
BEWARE THE ****!!!!
I enjoyed this class very much. The whole class was engaged in discusions the whole semester. he is nice and teaches very well. Online quizes take up most of the grades but they are just once a week and he gives plently of time. only takes an hour or so to do. i highly recomend this class to everyone
Best teacher at SFCC. Do all the reading, come to class, and you should sail through the semester.
Read, attend class, do well on the weekly quizzes and you'll get a good grade.
Basically you get a bunch of notes online and print out a quiz on monday-- have the week to talk about it with your class and use the notes on the quiz- then enter it on the computer by saturday at noon for grading. ALOT of ready but kind of easy. EVERYTHING is online even the quizes and final. easy teacher if you keep up.
dont buy the books! we were assigned three books and didnt use any of them!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice guy! A LOT og READING. All the quizes are on-line including the final. Several chances for extra credit, so take them. Some answers to the quizes are in the book, so read the book too. If you read, he will help you on the quiz if you're confused. I learned a lot!
He gives Extra Credit that isn't overly difficult or time consuming, greatly increasing your chances of a good grade, therefore you are more interested in the class since you are set to make a good mark. He is an enthusiastic teacher, he just expects you to come to class and participate, keep up on WEBCT, stay ahead.
This class was extremely boring. I took it online so at least I didn't have to sit through lectures. There are 2 quizzes due each week (these are kind of hard) which are worth 50% of your final grade. There are several papers due throughout the semester that are worth 25% of your final grade. Prof Hom is a hard grader with these papers.
Prof. Hom is a very nice person. He communicates with his students. He is helpful. Online course required lots of readings and participation; hence, I learned a lot. I enjoyed the material and the subjects. He offers extra credits that boost your grade. If you are to take humanity class, take him. Got A in his class, and grade him as an A+ teacher.
strange guy...most of the assignments are online. in class mainly lecture and worksheets. a lot of webct quizzes throughout class. i would recommend taking this class in either a or b term. do not take the full 16 weeks! youll be bored out of your mind.
Mr. Hom was awesome. The class lay out is really simple, just show up for class and do your study guide. Questions for test are taken verbatim from the handouts. He gives lots of chances to save your grade. A lot of videos and class discussion.
Took the course online. Was pretty easy, he lets you take the test twice and counts the best of 2. Really easy, just read the notes he assigns and you'll pass the tests.
Easy class... took it online and all I had to do is get information from his notes for the test... there are 3 tests... one of them being the final... he allows you to take it twice and counts the highest grade of the two. Great teacher... highly recommended for an easy class!
I took his American Humanities class online, Summer A, and it was a lot of reading, but that's all you had to do in the class (and tests of course). He let you take the tests twice and gave ample time to complete them. I highly recommend him. But I'd advise taking either A or B term--it'd probably get boring if you don't.
im taking him now. i like him, he's funny, his class is pretty much reading, quizzes,tests..great teacher though..im just tired of school
Took this online. Pretty easy if you do the readings, especially the handouts. The assignments are not too difficult, and while the quizzes are a bit hard, you can take it twice. It's not a fluff class, but it's certainly not too difficult or time-consuming, either. It'll breeze by so long as you do what is required.
he was an awesome teacher took his class on line for summer A you take nine quizzes two test and a final but this term we only got to take each test once not twice class is easy as long as you do the reading he assigns you plus quizzes are not time would recommend this class to anyone
If you are looking for a easy humanities class DO NOT TAKE HIM. He used to be easy but now all he gives is 5-7 page essays to do. And if the class doesn't participate like he wants them to, he takes off of your grade. Not fair at all. And his quizzes have a bunch of trick questions.. STAY AWAY!!
STAY AWAY! He is no help at all. And if you have an 89.9 he will not give you an A. No extra credit options. Hard Quizzes with trick questions.
Easy material, took it online and follows calendar to letter. Doesn't help much with questions, when emailed you get back like a 2 word response
Great online teacher. Everything is very easy to understand. He is well organized and responds to your e-mail very quickly. If you want a good grade take this class online.
I took this class spring 10 and i loved it! Im not a humanities person at all, but he made this class easy to understand and made his expectations clear. Extra credit opportunities are possible depending on the class as a whole. I would recommend him to anyone takg a humiies class at SFC
Prof Hom is very fair and organized. I took this class online spring 2010. My interest in the topic was worse than I thought, but I still passed. Do the work, meet word requirements and you should be fine. I would take his class again, if it wasn't humanities.
I took his online American Humanities class and I did get an A. Now let me say this- His online class was very tricky. I took it for Summer A and there were only 12 quizes and a final and thats it. If your looking for a snooze class... Forget it.
The online class is set up very clear. The quizzes are a bit tricky in wording. Prof. Hom does know his humanities. He seems to have a passion for this subject. If I were to take this class again with him, I would take it on campus.
Rules for getting a good grade in Hom: 1.) Go to class. Attendance is never taken, but your grade is HEAVILY based on participation. 2.) Don't take his semi-standoffish personality personaly. Just know that he honestly is a good guy who is passionate about what he teaches. 3.) Repeat step one. 4.) Lecture outlines are your friend. Hom is GREAT!
Professor Hom is a great professor. He really knows his humanities. I had him for Summer A. We had 14 quizzes, a final essay, and a final exam. It was really time consuming, and the quizzes were open book but tricky. They are based upon lecture notes, the book, and youtube videos. If you are a good student and an excellent reader, you will succeed!
My class was set up with 3 little essays due a week until the 6th week when we had to pick 6 and revamp them for 30 percent of the grade. Then the remainder of the time has been on the final essay/project. So it has been alot of work.
I just took this class for Summer B. It was very time consuming but if you are willing do read and do the quizzes (open notes/you tube videos but tricky)you will be fine. Just stay ahead of schedule or you can fall behind. One short essay and final due at end of class. Glad I took it over 6 weeks and got it over with. Easy Credit...got a B+.
I took his class online, and he's a great teacher. If you do all the work, there's nothing to worry about. At the same time, he has all the materials very organized. I received an A on his class.
I took Pro. Hom's class online. The quizzes online aren't too bad but you have to pay attention to the wording!I particularly found the Art projected difficult, but you can schedule an appointment if you need help. Also the final is very long (120 questions) with 1 minutes to answer each one. Difficult teacher... try to take another!
A paper per week for six weeks, peer reviewed and professor reviewed, and then a research project for six weeks, and then on-campus field trips, little papers, and a portfolio. Easy A if you just write the papers, come and participate in class, and go see him in his office often for help on the project.
took class online, if your just trying to complete core requirements, take someone else. The wording of his questions and answer selection are deceptive- his tests were open book and the class test average was a C, I only got a B because I write well and the essays saved me. If you take him, I would also advise investing in a good dictionary.
I took this class online in Summer B. He gives 9 lectures with questions and 3 tests.(questions are word for word from the lectures). There were homework 3 essays and a final essay. The writing prompts might as well have been in a different language. I couldn't understand what he wanted me to write. I got a B, and would not take his class again.
Hom was a stickler for grammar, diction, etc.. on ALL assignments. More than normal, in my opinion. In the past I have been complimented on my writing style, but he rarely offered a compliment. I took it as helpful critique though and always made A's on my assignments. I never used a textbook.
Professor Hom was helpful at times, but if your writing style isn't his cup of tea, it's going to be difficult to get an A. I would advise a different english elective.
he is the worst professor I've had, literally he has no interest on helping students. he just won't care, a lot of work and he will always give you less credit that you actually deserve. stay away from him unless you want an stressful semester
He's a good professor and a decent guy. Get ready for a lot of stuff outside of class if you're in the honors program.
I took his online class. He had us do an online blog, with a blog assignment almost every week. The writing topics for the blog were a bit weird. He wanted us to interview a Latino, write about what it was like to be a Latino in America so I think he has something on Latinos idk. He also had us write our own eulogy which was such a morbid assignm
Prof. Hom is greaaat. However, you will have to keep it up with the humanities blog. Participation is important. Good luck fam.
A lot of stuff, but due dates are more flexible than some classes, Overall pretty good.
Had him for humanities honors. The class was okay but I didn't like him. If you don't talk a lot he won't like you. A lot of BS projects and discussions. You won't learn anything at all; the whole class is based on opinions. There is an online blog that is pointless but that's pretty much all the work. It was the class I liked least all semester.
Professor Hom did a great job of getting the students involved in the assignments. He had great communication always which for an online class is very important. He also seems very empathetic and also a good characteristic for a teacher to have. I highly recommend him for any class.
Professor Hom is lit!! I took his class in my first semester and I can say by far that it was one of the most enjoyable classes. I made plenty of friends as it is a discussion-based class. (^-^)
I took this as a mandatory Honors class and the class was better than i expected. Class is graded off of responses to in class discussions, as well as doing out of class events. There is a lot to do so be careful to stay on top of it all. You have to read the assigned reading otherwise you'll be lost in class. Hom is hilarious but demanding.
Professor Hom was overall a good professor for the Honors Humanities course but he is a tough grader for written assignments. You can get away with not reading the materials provided for group discussion but you have to contribute at least once per discussion or he'all deduct participation points.
Class is entirely discussion based. The discussions are based off of weekly readings or videos he wants us view. The online portion of the class requires A LOT of writing. Do the assignments and you'll get an A.
This is a very easy, well put together class and a big portion of your grade is your attendance and your participation in the discussion. Homework is very easy, there are two homework assignments just about every week so you know what to expect. Very respected professor, funny and would totally take again!
Hom was a great prof for hum2020. Two assignments a week, most were pretty short. One paper and one 500 word essay. The final was a commencement essay.
Very cool.
Two assignments a week, mostly graded on participation. Interesting class discussions, be sure to speak up during class.
Classes consist of open discussions so make sure to participate. If you don't speak, you won't get full credit for that day. Make sure to start the final projects at least a month in advance (he gives good feedback if you show him what you have)! No tests or quizzes in this class. Make sure to do your reflections and annotated bibs :)
Great teacher that sparks great conversations with helps student create new ideas, opinions, & helps student think outside the box.
He is a great Professor! His class isn't hard, all you have to do is do the homework, participate in discussion, and he gives extra credit from here to there which can sky rocket your grade. I love this professor !
Professor Hom is great and always there to help; however, many of you are reading this because of his required honors course (HUM2020). There is no reason to stress over this class, professor Hom makes this class simple with rarely any in-class assignments. As long as you complete your assignments and participate in class you will earn an A.
I love this professor! His class is so easy, you would be crazy if got a lower than a B. His class consist of just thinking outside the box and understanding the purpose of humanities and life. If you participate and do extra credit which is SO EASY, you can get passed a 100. I highly recommend!!!!!!
Class is primarily a discussion, participation is for credit. There is an honors project at the end, get started early. He is a very caring and nice professor and had a few fun assignments, and typically the discussions were fun and allowed for a lot of points and thoughts to be expressed. He makes himself available to talk and help with any issue.
Great teacher with great material. I was very impressed by how quickly he graded papers and provided wonderful feedback.
Never late and was only absent once as far as I know. Very good this professor has always inspired me and supported my decisions
One of the best Prof I've had by far. The class is very opinion heavy and based more on analysis and thoughts. There are some group projects but reasonable. Prof grades based on effort put into your work since it is mainly personal and opinion based
He is a tough grader. No matter how easy the assignments seem, he'll find something to take points off for. He takes off random participation points even when you attend class and do participate (I guess he has to like what you say). His assignments consist of going to far away neighborhoods that don't even look safe just to take a picture.
Okay professor. Drops grades for random reason and adds on grades at the last minute of the semester. Meaning if you didn't do readings or couldn't get to them, expect a grade drop. Assignments can be confusing or just uncomfortable to do. Even if you participate in the class, he may mark you as absent.
I took Bobby for Hum honors. His class was probably the easiest one, u just have to keep up with his work. U do about 4 group projects throughout the semester and theyre not that bad. But DO THE READING! He checks on canvas to see if you do it, and your grade will significantly drop if you dont. Other than that he is actually super helpful overall
This class was just unnecessary but it was easy as long as you don't miss any assignments.
HUM2020 Honors was a really easy class. Bobby is a great professor, and he really cares about his students. If you stay on top of the work, it's an easy A. Makes sure to do the readings, even though it can be a lot sometimes.
Prof. Hom's class is a very easy A. As long as you do the readings and participate in the class discussions you should have no problem getting an A in the class. In addition, he is very caring and will always help you if you need something as long as you visit him to his office. He is overall a very nice guy and I would really recommend him.
One of the best professors I had. Cares about his students and is there to help. Class was very easy, just make sure to read the all assigned readings and participate. Other than that, it is an easy A class.
Overall loved this class. As long as you participate and DO THE READINGS/hwork, you will likely get an A. Besides the grade viewpoint, the class is pretty interesting and interactive. A few group projects and extra credit is available. Hom is a good professor that wants to see his students succeed.
He grades way too hard and takes points off for the smallest things which often times, you have to ask him what he even took the points off from because your work was exactly what he asked for. I would've taken this class with another professor if I could've.
This class is one of the few that represent the standards of university and college level classes. The effort you put into this class will heavily reflect the grade you get. I learned this very quickly and decided it was worth me putting in a few hours to receive the grade I want. I respect prof. How for this and know it'll lead me to success.
Professor Hom assigns reading material each week on specific Humanities topics. As long as you have good time management, these assignments are cake. The discussions in class are very helpful so definitely attend. He is easy to contact/meet with and the grading criteria is clear. Professor Hom makes class interesting and fun.
The class meets once a week and there is an assignment due before each meeting. The length of the assignments vary but has interesting topics. There is a lot of group activity and class discussions. He grades fairly and cares for every student. He has a great sense of humor as well.
Take this class if you want to transfer to UF. Professor Hom is a huge resource in the class and the Honors Program. There are assignments every week based on the topic. Classes are mostly discussion-based. Assignments are the biggest part of grade + attendance grade.
He is an amazing teacher and amazing advisor of the Honors Program. He goes above and beyond to help each student excel in his class as well as others. He was consistent in expectations for what we needed to know/do for every assignment. One of the best teachers I have ever had and he is very nonchalant. 10/10 easy A.
Professor Hom is easily approachable and a good professor. Participation is key in this class and as long as you keep up with your homework and do the readings, youll most likely get an A.
I took American Humanities over the summer online and it was a great choice! There was a lot of reading condensed into the few weeks of class. Mr. Hom is a great teacher and has a well-structured class. His tests can be challenging so prepare yourself with good notes!
I took this class for the Honors Program, but it was so easy. Bobby is an amazing professor and advisor, and make sure to build a relationship with him once you come in because he cares SO MUCH about the people who make an effort to build a relationship with him. I'm gonna miss him so much after graduation; you're my favorite, Bobby!!
Really wants you to get involved and excited. Loves participation even if you disagree with most of the class. Let us take a mental health day during class and talked about stress management. Do the assignments and you'll get an A. There's a couple annoying assignments but no tests so its worth it. Very good professor 10/10
One of the best professors I've ever had. His classes are very thought-provoking and helps you grow in many aspects of life. He incites us to share our thoughts on the many really interesting topics we look at, which is great and means participation matters. His assignments aren't that difficult, pretty easy A. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Taking!
Professor Hom is great. Hes someone who wants you to pass and he is someone who you can go to during office hours for anything. Hes super funny and gives you great feedback on anything. I would take his class again. His humanities class is discussion based for the weeks reading. the topics covered are really interesting and i love the discussion
Professor Hom is a great person, super charming. But I really disliked his class. He will ask you to read some articles or watch some videos and then write two written homework per week about really boring topics. Some of those topics were really boring such as analyzing a ballet or really long lectures. He cares a lot for his students though
Super easy class online. Easy A as long as you do the assignment. Lots of reading and you have two chances to complete the homework. He doesn't give you the answers so your required to figure them out on your own if your wrong both times. Timed Final but overall great educating history class.
I took this class in the honors program and it was challenging. I just honestly wasnt extremely interested in anything I had to do. The videos and articles were long that we had to read or watch every week. He always graded my work really hard and it was frustrating because I wanted an A. He does care about all his students though.
Bobby is a great professor that truly cares about the students in his class and in the honors program in general. The first half of the class is designed for freshmen, but the second half is where the meat is. There are weekly readings that need to be completed along the reports, which can be somewhat tedious. Still, an easy A if you work for it
Before taking Prof Hom class, I didn't know much about history pass a high school education. The reading assignments were interesting to read. The quizzes were based on the assigned reading material. There were 4 projects and a Final. If you pay attention to what you're reading, you'll pass his class with an A. I will take his class again for sure!
Took online for summer D. Quiz at the beginning to chose topics for semester. Few essays, quizzes and projects. Grades almost instantly. I think pretty generous on grades. Final is worth 30% of grade, but its open note. Very fun and interesting professor. I learned a lot.
Professor Hom was great! He had the work laid out so you can work at your own pace and is very involved with current times. The course load is the typical, get it done and you have no worries. I especially liked that he provides well-structured material and his transparency on topics covered.
Here's why HOM is amazing: his humanities class offers you better outlook on life, a good way to practice writing skills, he offers excellent engagement with the class on his daily blog, rewards people who work hard to succeed in his class. Challenges: Some lengthy assignments. One of the best classes I have recently taken.
Honestly one of my favorite professors, he is super relatable and his classes are actually entertaining and focus on current things! You should definitely take him if you have the chance to!
Professor Hom is indeed a great professor. I really like my HUM2020 honors class with him teaching us. He gives us clear introduction to our program, and hes very precise with lectures. The assignments take time for a few, but they are definitely manageable. The final projects are my favorite part as it gives a lot of choices to what you can do.
He doesn't give you much direction in assignments and the students were often lost on what to do. His lectures were alright and he's accessible outside of class but in terms of assignments and projects, you'll have to send numerous emails back and forth to figure out how to do them properly.
Weekly homework, a lot of reading, and (I am sorry) boring lectures. Hom is kind of judgy and makes one afraid of asking questions. However, easy class to pass if you do all the work.
I don't like how he teaches as its very all over the place and he does not tell us when we have homework or if something is due. I really dislike the lack of instruction he gives us as well as he does act like this class is very important to take and in my opinion it is definitely not a class worth taking. He also grades very hard.
There is homework every week, but it isn't very hard to get the work done. I was in honors, and our class met once a week. There weren't any tests, quizzes, or studying required. The class itself is pretty interesting and makes you think deeply. I would highly recommend this class for the humanities credit. Prof. is very kind, relaxed, and patient.
Hom is a decent person but isn't a great professor. The lessons barely teach you anything about the humanities, and the assignments are primarily busywork. Not a class worth taking.
This class was a lot of writing, very engaging and kind of fun. Expect to improve useful skills such as public speaking and writing. I don't enjoy humanities but this class turned out to be a favorite. Don't be late. This was an easy A, but still time consuming. Mr. Hom is unpredictable, but manageable.
Professor Hom was an amazing professor to have. He not only taught the subject well but he kept me engaged with what we were learning throughout the semester. He was super nice in class and always made class meetings a good time. His class is the easiest A, he said that participation on the assignments alone is 80% percent of your overall grade.
I took prof Hom for HUM2020 Honors, I would do it again in a heart beat. He cares about his students and he wants his students to get to know one another. By the end of our semester I knew all of my classmates by name and still talk to some of them now and then. Definitely a great course to take as a freshman, through participation matters.
I'm beyond grateful for the time I was given to learn form Professor Hom. He has been a great mentor and stable guide during undergrad. His advice and transparency was helpful and I look forward to keeping him updated as I continue my journey of growth. (:
