One of the best teachers I've had at Harper. He has the rare ability to take a very dry subject and make it interesting. Also you have the option of taking group tests sometimes. And yeah, lots of stories. Ask him about the time his kid drove their truck into the neighbors house (aka "Devil Child").

He is an awesome and easy teacher. You get to pick what kind of tests you want. PICK THE TAKE HOME ESSAY TESTS! They don't help on the final but help with your grade. The final is really hard but the class is easy so you will have a good grade going into the final. HE TAKES ATTENDANCE!

I love his class.If you are looking for an easy grader then you got one.If you write your paper an hour before the class trust me you will get an A. And he lets the class pick what kind of test they want.He Rocks!!!

Great instructor. Engaging, knowledgable, open and can appreciate/articulate both sides of any issue. There was an awesome group of students in my section, which made the course that much better. We had ultra-libs and neo-cons, but everybody stayed friends in spite of differences and Bobby was a great referee.

I can't say enough good things aboout this teacher. He keeps you interested in material I didn't care about about and he is so nice. Always concerned with helping his students. His tests are harder than I expected because of his casual teaching styles but he offers extra credit. Definetly take this class, it is so worth it.

He is a wonderful teacher! He really has a vast knowledge of political science. His quizzes can be rather difficult, but you can do them in groups. As long as you do all the papers correctly, it is really easy to pass.

Mr Summers is very nice teacher, and the class with him is fairly easy. However, like in any other class you need to do the work. The tests may be litle hard, so write an esseys as well as you can, and do as much extra credit as you can. That will get you through the class with an A+.

Really nice guy. He makes the class simple enough for those who don't know/care about politics, but he also makes it interesting for those that do. Grade consisted of 2 in-class group multiple choice tests, 2 essays, a group paper, and a comprehensive final.

He is a great professor that lets you take group tests all the way up to the final..there is a lot of notes like everyone says there is..but you get to use those notes on every test except the final..do the work and you will get the A for sure...i did

Bobby Summers is a cool man. The class was boring , all we did was copy down notes the whole time. We only watched 2 videos. That said, the class is easy. He doesn't expect much from you. Just 3 papers (he grades them EASY), and one of those is a group project. Pick this class if you don't care about politics, and don't mind being bored

If you want an easy "A" take this class. Its a low workload and Summers is an easy grader. BUT, if you already enjoy poly-sci and want to learn something, take a 101 class somewhere else ("real college"). A student that studied and paid attention during middle school and high school would find most of the class material redundant.

Took the Honors HUM/HST 105 with Mr Summers and it was GREAT. I looked forward to class every week! There were 2 papers due each week, a take home mid term and final exam, 3 papers and 3 presentations so there was s lot of work but it was worth it. My perspective changed profoundly after taking this class!

Amazing teacher. I don't know anything about politics, but he allowed me to write extra letters to politicians and I got 100 points of extra credit to ensure good performance on the final. Easy grader, allows group tests, open notes/book. Very helpful and clear about what he wants from us. Very funny guy, ask him about his kids =))))

The material is pretty much what you'd learn in High School, just a bit more mature in approach. Easy class, there are 2 essays, and 1 group essay (6-8 pages). He lectures from an outline that everyone writes down. He is a little too cynical about politics, I would like more of an academic approach, but he is very friendly. Easy A.

This guy knows his political science! On top of that he is cool and easy going, alot of positive class participation, light work load but focused class.

I took his honors class last semester and have him again this semester. He's awesome. :) He knows his field well and makes it accessible to the students. He's one of the few professors in his field that, while he may have his own opinions, is actually able to be unbiased and fair during a left/right discussion. Plus he's hilarious and laid back.

He truly cares about his students & wants them to pass. He is very passionate about this subject & encourages you to be opinionated. In all honestly I hate politics but he made the class interesting. You have to go to class and do the work. Remember people this is college, so take some responsibility. You will get your moneys worth in this class.

The bomb. I'm dumb as rocks and got an 85% in this class. 2 papers, 2 letters to politicians, group constitution rewrite, group tests. Just go to class every time you're locked for a B. Do a little extra work and you'll get the A. SUMMERS IS THE MAN !

He is very easy and laid back. There is one paper, one interview paper, two letters, and one eassy. All are 2-3 pages so you will be fine. His test are in group except the final, but it is easy too.

I got Fs on two of the tests and I got an A on the final and an A in the class. He's super nice! I did a lot of extra credit, and i always get As on my papers so that's probably why I got an A. The class is interesting, it opened my mind a lot of politics. He's really funny and nice. I would take him again if I had to.

Didn't buy the textbook and got an A. Tests are based off his lecture notes, ours were all open note, open book, group & multiple choice (except the final). Two papers, two letters. He's very interested in the subject, but it doesn't rub off. I slept and messed with my phone.

Prof Summers was a really good teacher- very laid back and helpful whenever we had questions. Minimal class work, comfortable atmosphere, and no FINAL :D I really enjoyed the class and the discussions we had, and the fact that there wasn't a lot of outside work.

He knows a lot about politics. Tests are pretty hard, but they are made up however the class decides. We had group, multiple choice, open note. Only thing that sucks is the group project because I got stuck with slackers and they benefited off it and I actually got screwed. Still got an "A", but group activities are so 1990.

He's flippin awesome! I would recommend him to anyone- especially people who are just taking political science cause they're required to. Your class gets to choose your test format (mine went with open note, open book, and group test!). He's super nice and chill. You don't get any homework apart from the things he tells you the first day of class.

A good teacher. He's very laidback and does a good job explaining. The workload was not too bad, but taking it over summer I can't say the workload would be as easy during a full semester. But over the summer we did 2 essays,1 interview paper,2 exams,wrote 2 letters to political figures, and a final. Idk if thats the same during a full semester.

Took his summer course. Work load wasn't bad, 2 small essays and interview paper. We also had two group tests with book, and notes. Final wasn't bad either, 25 ?s come from each of the previous tests. Lets you out early most days, but its vital that you attend, 100 points come from your attendance and participation. Didn't need the book!!

Bobby Is a wonderful teacher. Considering the subject as a political science class, he does a phenomenal job delivering information in an unbiased nature. Readings consisted of articles that were all interesting and informative. I loved this class he is a very nice understanding man.

Dont buy the textbook. It is optional, not mandatory never needed it for class once. You take notes and get to vote on what type of test you want to take as a class. I actually learned some things and u will too with Professor Summers.

Summer course was fairly easy. He kept the lectures short so we always left early. His lectures were dry but he tells you what you need for the test. Test answers can be ambiguous so there is some difficulty there. I was able to get an A without ever studying for a test but paid attention in class and took notes. Overall decent.

He is awesome. Take his global politics hybrid class. You only meet once a week where you just sit in a circle and discuss certain topics and it is so interesting and stimulating. Online you just have to post one paragraph about a certain question he asks. Super easy. Don't need the book. There are only a couple essays due at the end of the semeste

I took a blended class. It was very easy. We had to post and respond to a discussion board every week. Also supposed to read the chapters but he goes over everything in class so there is not point in reading. Only time I used my book was to help me on our take home essay test. Not much work needed for class besides an interview paper requirement.

I took the class online. He was very helpful and responded to emails promptly. Study and really use the online resources and you can get an A. You MUST pay attention to the additional online content, especially the videos, because you WILL see this material again! Do the practice tests online and you will pass the class!

I took the course online and the book was absolutely not needed, there are plenty of extra credit opportunities and he gives you two grading options so if you do terrible on the quizzes you have a chance to make it up with an option to write a paper. Very awesome professor highly recommend taking him above anyone else.

Summers is an awesome professor and you should definitely take him if you can. Class book says required but I never got it and received an A. All you have to do is show up and give your two cents during the discussion. He's super laid back and funny and doesn't make the class harder than it needs to be.

TAKE THIS GUY!! He lets you out of class atleast 15 minutes like every day, he always walks in with sweet tea from mcdonalds and explains lecture real well. AMAZING! I HATE politics but this class was decent. Take the half online class. easy A but you have to work for it. Keep up with the assignments and test are essay questions from the notes so take good notes in class! 1 discussion per week but easy! As long as you show up, do the work, take good notes, you will be fine! Extra credit is offered!

TIPS: Gets his test questions from the "progress check" section of optional modules so make sure you do them! Also gives you the test's essay questions beforehand; take advantage of them!

Professor Summers is amazing. I took his class online at Harper and all of his exam questions were from progress check so do those and he gives extra credit, so do those as well. This class was a breeze and he also replies emails right away.

I believe the professor changed the material for this semester. I took the online class and basically the Exams were very hard to pass since there is a lot of material to cover in a short period of time. The main thing you have to know is that you have to study really hard to pass the exams and MEMORIZE everything you can. It is hard!

From the sounds of it, everyone did pretty well when grades came out at the end of the semester. There were a lot of readings though, and I didn't enjoy the class as much as I anticipated. Super easy grader. The essay assignments are hardly even an essay, MAX 3 pages ever. He's super laid back. The text book is helpful, but not entirely necessary but I would recommend studying for the tests.

this was my first online class ever and it was easy to follow. 3 tests and 3 letters were a bulk of your grade. the worst part of the class was the reading that you had to do on your own time

Literally the easiest class I've ever taken. You can tell this guy is really laid back and easy going. I took PSC101 online and only had to write 2 papers (in which I easily received 100%), 3 online test, and wrote 2 letters to to someone in politics with the option of 2 extra credit letters. Thats it. No discussions boards, no other assignments.

If you are looking to take a PSC101 class, take him!! His lectures are detailed and he makes class interesting. He brings up funny jokes and stories that are related to the materials we're learning. He gives extra credit too, but his exams are challenging. read the modules and go to class to pass! other than that, his class is easy. TAKE HIM !!!

Great and kind teacher. Abundant opportunities for extra credit, it makes it impossible to fail unless you're deliberately trying to. Responds quickly to emails, within hours. There are a couple assignments but they are relatively easy to accomplish. Quizzes have unlimited attempts. You must study for exams, but extra credit might save you.

You have readings and a test/paper that must be done by a certain date. You can read at your own pace, write the papers at your own pace, as long as it is all done by those set dates. Not to mention TONS OF EXTRA CREDIT. There is 0 reason to pass with anything less than a B. TAKE THIS MAN.

Professor Summers is a great teacher. There are 3 sections in the class and each section has basically the same work just with different chapters in the book. Great Teacher, highly recommended. I was intimidated by the syllabus, but he provided it before class began upon request. He is not micro-teaching, so you need to be on top of your own work, but he is a fair grader and makes you work for the grade. Blends old school information w/ technology and updated E-textbook. I dont understand why there are negative reviews and so many people saying its a difficult class, I took the 8 week version turned in my exams and essays the last week of class (late 10% off) and got an A+ just do the discussion posts little question on time and your gold, didn't buy the text book cause its not referenced need google on test though

Took the class as an 8 week asynchronous, was very flexible and not that difficult. You can work ahead if you want and things are not due weekly. I took 5 classes at once but it wasn't bad with this class. He gives very clear directions about how to get the grade you want and gives a lot of extra credit. You would have to do nothing to fail.

I took Bobby Summers at Harper for my PSC101 class. The class was average just a lot of reading. Lots of great information and the readings. Lots of opportunity to receive extra credit. Teacher was available for a meet even though it was an online class.

3 exams timed 100 questions 75 minutes and 2 email assignments. 1 video quiz per lesson and discussion board questions were extra credit. He emailed reminders of deadlines and answered questions quick.

Is an awesome professor and very helpful because he sends out emails within the week close to the end of week to remind us of what is due and when everything is due. Also is very reliable he will get back to you immediately when you email him with questions on assignments. also not really a tough grader and would take him as professor again.

It's an easy A class. 8 weeks long. Video quizzes at your own pace. 5 questions each quiz. Every other assignment (easy discussion boards - literally one sentence gets you points) was extra credit. 3 exams, fairly easy. Posts announcements and many reminders about what is to be completed. Highly recommend this class/professor.
