I never believed in Aliens, until I met Dr. Ducan. BEWARE!!!!!
Her connection with reality is very fragile. Brings dog to class, very, very strange. Kinda freaky to be around.
Strange lady. Nice. Tried to teach her dog Linguistics. Knows what she is talking about, but presents it in an unconventional manner.

all tests are online, so you can use notes and book. other than that it was the worst class ever. she's so smart that she was always over my head. lectures were all over the place, and taking notes was impossible.
She is crazy!! Cracks me up, makes life a little better when you had a crapy day. Testes are online and she lets u use your notes. Uses "dirty" words all the time- we had a check list going- she added to it on purpose sometimes-soo funny!

I don't know where all these poor rateings are coming from. This person is a wonderfull teacher. She's funny, and smart, and manages to hold your attention. Her lectures can be a little disorganized, but the way she teaches, you remeber without notes.
Truly an awesome professor. It is so obvious that Bonnie loves what she does, and her total enthusiasm in class is energizing. She picks interesting topics for lecture, and is helpful in every way. Take Bonnie, She's Great!
Ugh! She's nice and fairly interesting and all but not very helpful if you're not a Language major. Don't take her for anything! She doesn't go over the assignments at all, but she is a lenient grader. Very intimidating and you better answer her questions

She is absolutely the worst professor EVER. I would transfer before taking another course with Bonnie Duncan.
She is very odd to say the very least, but the material is interesting... sometimes however there seems to be no connection with the subject and what she is talking about...
It's obvious she loves what she does, but her style tends to be irritating. She has a habit of assigning reading and work that you won't understand until after you've gone over it in class, thereby negating the work you've done. The book for this class is very technical, and quite frankly, SUCKS.

This lady is sooo weird...she kinda reminds me of the baby dinosaur from "Dinosaurs", the early 90s show. The class is probably interesting, but her lectures consist of her rambling about nothing to do with the topic that we're studying. Other than that, it's an easy course.
Psycho, plain and simple... what a nut job. I asked her if she recieved my paper and she said she had no idea... WTF? Nice lady with great intentions, but the path to hell is laid in good intentions.
She's not so bad, very silly lady. She can be rather confusing but the class is easy as long as you show up and do your work. She is very enthusiastic and fairly cheerful.
For a 400-level writing course, the work is rather lax (2 papers), but she is extremely vague to the point where you'll be enlisting the aid of a psychic to find out what, exactly, your paper is supposed to be written on. Nit-picky and vague, always spaced out...be prepared to shift in your seat...
Weird class, by far the weirdest class. Quite boring and extremely vague. Do the work correctly and you'll do fine. That is if you can figure out what "correct" means for her.
What can I say? I had her years ago when I was a freshman and she was by far the most far-out-there professor I've ever had. She is an interesting woman, a smart professor, but not always the greatest teacher.
Don't let her put the final online, for the love of God. It is a disaster waiting to happen, as I found out the hard way. Other than that, she's nice, unhelpful, and a total looney-tune.

Sometimes she is off course and seems like she doesn't know what she's talking about, but then it all ties together. Exams aren't to bad if you study, basically, come to class, do your work and you got a decent grade.

I honestly have no idea what this class was even about anymore. Half the time we didn't even have class, and when she was there, she gave the weirdest lectures. It was kind of like "where is this coming from???" If you want to learn anything, don't take her. It's a shame, because the subject was so interesting to me!

She is a really nice women, and very funny at times, but she doesn't seem to be able to stay on topic. Plus her grading policy can be very confusing. Try to take Dr. Shields class if you can, but if you take this class, just be ready.

This was a Business Writing online class. It sucked. The syllabus was unclear and some of the surveys we had to take made no sense. Almost hard to believe she is an English teacher. Her criteria is confusing and I think she's nuts. Someone told me that she uses the F-word in class which is very unprofessional. Avoid her at all costs.
Most awful Teacher at Millersville. Grades your paper with comments that are often mispelled and contain AWFUL grammer. I have no idea how this lady became an english teacher. I had her for an online class and I never thought I could have this much resentment for someone I have never met face to face. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF!!!!!!!!!!
when test time comes... study the information on the website & do the practice quizzes religiously until you get a B% or better. i took maybe a page worth of useful notes the entire semester. EVERYTHING you need to know is in the quizzes or on the website. sure there are better profs and yeah she's tough... but certainly not impossible.
Dr. Duncan seemed to be a bit psychotic and missed many of our scheduled classes. However, this is precisely why I like her! I'm a very "outside of the box" kind of person. If you like everything spelled out for you and to be told exactly what to do, this may not be a good prof for you, but if you're comfortable with flexibility, Duncan is cool.

Despite everyones comments, i really enjoyed taking Dr. Duncan's online Linguistic Analysis class. She was very helpful when i needed her, really made linguistics interesting, and always had helpful feedback. i would definatly take her for an online class again.
She is crazy first off, she does not explain things very well, and her papers are really hard to write because she doesnt tell you what to write like at all, but she expects certain things in your paper. She also does a lot of things online, like reading off the internet, which I hate, but if you like that all power to you!
Dr. Duncan is quite possibly certifiably insane. I did get an A in the class(intro to language study), but I can't say that I learned much. She seemed to ramble on nonsensically for whole classes at a time. Make sure to go to class, because as you get towards the end of the semester people skipped and she gave us credit just for showing up.
I'be taken Dr. Duncan for 2 online classes (Linguistic Analysis & Medieval Lang & Lit). Her classes wasn't the eaiset in the world, but she is an easy grader, always responds quickly to emails, and makes learning something you might not like kind of interesting. I suggest taking her for any online classes you can. I got A's in both.
As said before, she is crazy. She is also brilliant. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU ARE NOT AN ENGLISH MAJOR!!! She loves her field (ligusitics and Middle English), so she is detailed in regards to it. She expects a lot, but if you are in need of help, and try to participate, and she feels you are not a loser, she is most helpful. And she is my advisor.
I have never hated a person more than I hate Dr. Duncan. You will want to throw yourself in front of a bus if you ever meet her. You will learn nothing from her class and be completely screwed for more advanced linguistics classes in the future. Do not take any class with Dr. Duncan unless you have your therapist on speed dial.
She knows her information, but her articles and emails are so deplorably written that you can barely understand her. Test questions are missing words, making them ambiguous. Does not reply in a timely manner. Does not clarify assignments until the last minute. Uncommunicative. This was an online course.
Dr. Duncan is a very good professor. She is intellegent, she just doesn't know how to express it in emails. I thought she was a great professor and I took Chaucer with her and I am an English major. If you do the work she doesn't grade hard at all. She likes when you ask questions and she always responds quickly.
I took Dr. Duncan for an online class and I would not recommend it. She answers e-mails fast but doesnt answer the question you asked. I found some directions and assignments to be confusing. She can be condescending and I found her to be rude in some of her e-mail responses. Not to mention assignments due throughout the week of spring BREAK!!

I have her for Online Chaucer and let me tell you, I have never had a more frustrating class! She's unprofessional, condescending, and she doesn't really seem to be that intelligent. She lists multiple due-dates for assignments and doesn't clarify til the last minute when things are actually due. Do NOT take her if you can avoid it!

This class is hard if you don't make the effort. Yeah, it can be confusing but as long as you work with the people in your class and really pay attention, you'll be fine. Just make sure to actually pay attention and do the homework she gives you. Her instructions are specific and vital to pass her class.

I think dr. duncan is pretty cool. She definitely has a sense of humor and made class actually interesting for the most part. She did give a lot of criticism but it was helpful. There was one paper I did where she gave me a C cuz she said I was in over my head...??? but anyway the class wasn't bad and for the most part i thought it was pretty easy.
The first half of the class is really hard because the material is difficult to understand. If you muster through and make it to the midterm, the second half of class is a breeze... and it's fun! The things you learn in that class actually apply to real life. If you're up for the challege, take this class. I ended up with an "A".

She actually had the guts to write to me that I better get my act together for making one mistake on posting on the blogs and took points off when all I did was make a simple mistake. She is the biggest B in the world! Don't take her she will be nothing but a headache!
She is great!! Bonnie May come off hard at the begining of the semester but you really should stick it out. She has to be one of the best prof I have had. She is nice and really cares about her students. Her class is mostly easy is with one or two bigger papers. Other than that blogs which are super easy A's. One other thing her final is optional!!

Before this class started, I had a 4.0 GPA. I just checked my grade in her class and it is currently a 65%. When I was making my schedule, the only ENGL classes that were open were ALL OF HER CLASSES ONLY. Should have taken that as a warning sign.
She assigns so much work to be done on the internet that it might as well be an online course. It took a while to get use to her style, and to get use to the fact that she assigns dozens of little projects. On one hand it's nice, because if you fail a project it doesn't matter as much, but on the other hand, it feels as if something is always due.
Dr. Duncan is CRAZY. I love her but dislike her at the same time. It's a 200 level class and with as hard as the work is and the amount that is given, it could very well pass for a 300-400 level. She isn't clear with what she wants; I don't even think she knows what she wants...but she is well educated...just be prepared if you take her.
She is absolutely crazy. She spends most of class dialoging with herself and ranting about things that rarely relate to the subject we are learning. Her class might as well be online because all the assignments are online and she doesn't really teach very much in class. I could have learned more simply by reading the book than showing up to class.
Avoid this professor. She is one of the worst educators I have ever encountered. If you take her, prepare to be insulted by her numerous times. She doesn't explain ANYTHING properly, therefore you have to rewrite your papers 10 times before she approves. She needs to retire...NOW.

Dr.Duncan is definitely tough but she is also a very dedicated teacher. If you're looking for an easy class, she is not for you. She will definitely push you which, in my opinion, is not a bad thing. You will definitely learn A LOT. Her website is very informative and she has obviously put a lot of time into it. She keeps up with technology too!

Dr. Duncan certainly doesn't need another negative review, but students should be forewarned. She is consistently rude and seeks out students to denigrate and demean. She was rude to me, but some of my classmates received horrible emails from her. AS an instructor, she is terrible: unclear, unhelpful and hostile. I cannot recommend her.
Duncan gets a bad rap. She is demanding, and also one of the most brilliant professors at MU. She calls bad work bad without apology, and helps you to make it good work - what good profs are supposed to do, not coddle shoddy research and writing. If that is not for you, then stay away. Most of her critics are whiners and slackers in my experience.
Never take her class. Especially if it's online. You will go through a dozen forums just to find what the heck is required and when it's due. She'll lecture you on not hurting anyone's feelings and being politically correct, but then inserts her own opinion into completely unrelated discussions. Work completely unrelated to subject matter.

The class is fairly easy if you just do your work on time and show up. If you miss a class it gets to be confusing but other than that the main problem with this coarse is that she states that it is not an online coarse but has you do a lot of online work. Also, her site is very out of date and has problems. Other than this she is fairly helpful.
Online class was difficult, but not impossible. Even though it is clear that she puts a lot of time into her pages, it is aggravating how inconsistent her work is. Links are often dead. She does not always update. She has a bad habit of not elaborating. The books were not necessary, since you can easily find the text online. I wouldn't take again.
I am a high B-A+ student and am barely passing this class by the skin of my teeth. I did not heed any of the warnings of everyone else on here and greatly regret it! Listen to the comments! This class sucks and she is an awful professor!
Online Chaucer--don't buy the books. Prepare for audio readings in Middle English (very difficult). Easier grader than I expected. Prompt with responses to emails. Bad with instructions and can be rude. Stressful class. 1 large paper, 1 project (which she screwed the class with), discussions, quizzes, and journal entries. Won't take again.
I've taken Dr. Duncan for two online courses now and I'm not sure what all the negative feedback was about. Her instructions are sometimes hard to figure out but besides that I found the courses informative and easy. Her grades are fair; put in an effort and you will get a good grade.
Bonnie Duncan is great. She is not a warm and fuzzy person. It does, however. baffle me reading all of these negative comments about her. It seems like she weeds out the students who want to give half an effort by making you struggle at the start. If you stick it out, she will explain things in class. I would take Dr. Duncan again,
Dr. Duncan is literally the worst professor I have ever had. She is unclear in her instructions, unhelpful, and rude. I've sent her multiple emails asking for clarification and I only get back rude responses berating me and never answering my questions. I can't even respect this woman as a professor because of her constant grammatical mistakes.

Extremely easy if you keep up with the coursework, which really isn't much. Most of the time spent is figuring out what the heck she wants you to do. Horrible clarity. Always misspells EVERYTHING even though she is an ENGLISH professor. Atrocious grammar and organization. Subject I'm really interested in, but didn't learn much unfortunately.
In 5 semesters, I have NEVER felt the need to write a bad review about a professor. This course was an absolute disaster from day 1. Dr. Duncan's contract grading method is absurd and her course page is a maze of useless information. Essay/group work prompts were surface-level and I learned nothing from completing them. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
May not have been the greatest teacher but the subject was rather easy, the information was rather easy and it was relatively easy to do all the work.
The first day of class there were about 30 students present. By the third class, there were only about 10 left. This was the last day of the add/drop period, and rest assured I had no choice but to drop this class. This should tell you everything you need to know about this crazy, rambling, mean, and awful professor.
She's tough, I won't lie, but her lectures are really interesting, she's funny, and she demands what she thinks you can produce. I learned a TON during this class and it changed my perspective on Middle English works (I used to really hate them.) Do the work and reading, and you'll do fine. Slack off and she calls you out, often publicly.
Take her class online if possible! Her instructions weren't very clear, but email was very helpful. Lots of reading, but if you follow the guidelines of each assignment you do really well.
She can magically turn an optional reading into a required reading while she grades. Most definitely has to feel like she has a superiority over her students. Is absolutely ridiculous when it comes to her course load, especially for only a 200 level class. Will never take again.

She isn't clear in her directions and you often spend most of your time trying to figure out what the hell she is trying to say. She also counts 'optional' readings as required. TERRIBLE TEACHER.
Bonnie Duncan was a great Professor. It depends on how your mindset is going to class. She is loud and is very passionate. She is very lenient with grades and is awesome to talk to. I do recommend this professor she did a great job with my class. You just have to be prepared for an outgoing lady who has no filter and doesn't care!
I would take her again. The only issue I had with her was her lack of a filter (she tends to swear a lot, which can be funny at times and annoying at others). It's not as if she tries to make the tests and assignments hard it's just that the course itself is hard. She is amazing at helping you if you need it, you just have to be brave and go ask.
She's crazy. She'll count all the homework, and it's always 1010 or 010, no in between, so complete all the homework. She'll give "quizzes" (they aren't hard) but just for the people who are there when people don't come. Which means if you're there, that's an easy 1010, if you're not, too bad so sad she won't let you redo it.
Professor Duncan gets a bad rep for being loud, having no filter, and taking no prisoners. However, in my experience with her, if you're having trouble AT ALL, she will give you help if you go to her. I had a few unexpected medical issues this semester, so I talked to her about them and she completely understood. Please give her a chance!
Duncan would be an ok professor if she wasn't so rude to students. whenever I was unclear on instructions and ask for clarification she would basically insult me instead. it would take multiple emails before I get the clarity I needed, if I would get it at all. I for one would never take one of her classes again by choice.
This is actually the second class I've taken with her, I also took linguistic analysis (221) which was by far harder due to the analytic nature of the course. Perhaps if you do not have a large interest in the subject and would like an Easy A you should take a different teacher but Duncan is knowledgeable and passionate about her subject.
I missed a class because I was sick and went to her office and she gave me the whole entire lecture one on one. If you're struggling at all she is totally ready to help you get it. The class is tough but she's there to help you through it.
I would not take her again. She is very vague with directions. Half the class failed the first paper we had to do on dictionary research due to unclear instructions. She did allow a re-due. Quizzes are all online and you can take it till you pass it.
I personally love Dr. Duncan, although I can understand why a lot of people don't like her. She spends a lot of class time telling personal stories that very loosely relate to the material at hand. She's a sweetheart, but she doesn't necessarily teach well enough to prepare for tests.

Duncan is really nice and has always helped when necessary. The class is easy to pass if you show up and do the work. Her quizzes and tests are easy I disliked going to class because I felt like she didn't teach valuable information all the time. She gives extra credit for coming to class somestimes as well
Her assignments were very unclear, even when she was asked to clarify. She can also be easily upset and sometimes rude. She rarely lectures what she tests. Although, most assignments are an easy A, and you can take online quizzes as often as you want. The midterms and finals are also very similar to the study guides she provides.
Assigns a lot of online assignments and quizzes. She isn't very clear with instructions and doesn't answer questions when asked. Tends to get off topic a lot
Dr. Duncan is awesome. She has such an interesting take on life and education. She is realistic with what she asks of you and if you do the work, then you'll get an A. There's a ton of reading, but you know, college.
She's awesome. Loves education and kids. Can be rough if you don't have a sense of humor or thick skin. I loved her. My favorite professor in the English department.
Took this class my freshman year, absolutely could not stand this professor, she interrupted us during presentations in front of our whole class, one of the students in my class even contacted the dean of the english department to complain.
