Tensen is one of the most helpful and understanding teachers for English II. She makes long-distance learning easy.

Ms Tensen expects the very best from her students and in return her students get the best help they can get. I will warn all those slackers out there not to take her class for an easy A - you will have to actually do the work.

I enjoyed her class. It is not a class to take just to get an easy A. She was very helpful with every question and responds quickly to questions and e-mails(a plus with DL classes). I would recommed her class.

Tensen rocks. She is smart, kind, approachable and demanding. She wont let you settle for mediocrity. people complain that her english course is too hard, well, english is demanding and rigorous. It's a discipline for only the most passionate, which is exactly why Ms. Tensen teaches it so well.

Tensen is hard (especially for an online course) but fair. My writing improved and I learned how to document sources.

I found Tensen to be a fair teacher. Her class is not easy but you will learn from her. She is a very straight forward person and is willing to help. Be specific with your questions and be sure you have really tried to do the assignment (and read all material related)before seeking help.

I don't know what any of you are talking about, she is a very cool and helpfull teacher. I never liked writing/English but now I have interest in it because of Bonnie. If you are think of taking a writing/English class this is the teacher to take. She asks questions, she answers questions and whenever I need her or if anyone else in the class needs

Bonnie is a great professor! She is very helpful and goes out of her way to answer your questions. Her assignments are demanding but by the time you get to the end of the course you'll understand why. Read her instructions on how to complete assignments and you should not have any problems.

Bonnie is a AWESOME professor! I believe the reason that she gets a bad rap is because the students who take her course expect to get a good grade without having to work for it. Her class is demanding and there is alot of work but without you could never get the CORE assignments done. She is super personable and is always eager to help.

Bonnie is a great teacher. She is always willing to help and answer questions. Yes, her class is hard and she is a tough grader but you will learn a lot from her. She is very clear on what she wants and she is great about communicating with her students. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn and is willing to work.

online classes usually allow flexability; this class had dead-lines twice a week. way too many assignments:readings,quizes, 2-150 word postings a week. not to mention the 3 papers, oh' and the the test on the two looong plays we had to read, and the timed writings, and the abstract. you get the idea. if you have lots of free time take this class.

My experience has been totally different from a few recent posts. Yes, Ms. Tensen is a hard grader. There's a lot of work, but no more than other classes. You have to be able to work on your own (its an online class) and to read and follow instructions. But the course is very well organized with lots of tips to follow. I have enjoyed the class.

Good Course/Good Teacher: This is a tough course, but it is not too tough. IMHO, too many students expect to be reminded of what to do, when to do it and how long it should take them. If you exercise a little self-discipline and take time to read what is provided on the course web pages, you'll do fine. Her Online course material is VERY thorough.

The online class isn't easy but if you follow the instructions and do the work an A isn't impossible. Bonnie is extremely helpful when asked for assistance.

This class was terribly difficult, but the prof. was always offering help. I was not prepared for it because they should have taught us MLA format in Eng I, but for being an online class, it really felt like she was there for us and very structured. some people don't like that b/c it was a lot of work

Bonnie is one of those people that are so intelligent, it is difficult for her to not sound condescending to some people. Her class is difficult, but she is quite possibly the best teacher at this school. She takes a real interest in her students. I learned a lot from her, even though she has a limited understanding of Providence ;) hahahahahaha

This class required a lot of independent work and thinking. The course is well-structured and demanding--Bonnie has high expectations for students but provides excellent advice about how to write well and think analytically. I learned a lot about writing that will help me in the future.

HA! When you read other postings...notice how they're English "ain't" so good. "she NEED to treat all students equal." I se how she could be frustrated with an illiterate moron. B. is extremely helpful although I do not really enjoy the reading selections. Her clas is very well organized. Do the work and she will do all she can to help you.

The class is very demanding but, if you manage your time wisely you will be able to keep up and get the work completed. Bonnie is extremely helpful and is always open to answer any questions you may have for her.

More demanding that many online courses. But those who work hard and follow instructions can do well. Online courses are not for everyone. Must be able to work on your own, but according to syllabus (not on your own schedule).

This teacher runs an online class exactly how it should be run. She holds you accountable if you do not finish the work in time or turn in garbage. The only way that anyone can improve is to receive constructive criticism and practice. I wish that she taught more classes, I would love to take her again. If you can write well, you will succeed.

I was in the same accelerated class and found it to be pretty easy if you stayed on top of things.. she does grade strictly, but she was very willing to work with you if you needed help. I'd take her again.

Without Tensen's willing and insightful instruction, I would not have enjoyed this class as I did. As an aspiring writer, her honest and immediate critique was always helpful. She was always willing to dialogue with me, in order to broaden my understanding, provide insight, and assist with any needs that i had as a student and now friend.

She's a great instructor...I really enjoyed her class!

I took this class online, and I find that it was more difficult than an in class setting. There is a lot of work to be done and she is a tough grader. If your used to getting grades below an A then watch out you may be on the edge of failing.She wrote the book for the class so you know she expects perfection.

I found her to be extremely helpful and very interested in making sure everyone knew what was expected of them. These comments about having to conform to her opinion to get a good grade in the class are precisely the same as many other comments on this site...absolutely ridiculous.

Shes an excellent teacher. I took this class online and passed very easily. I already have a huge interest in English and taking her class only taught me more. I would definitely take her again if I had the opportunity.

Bonnie is a good instructor, I took the class online and earned an "A" - but I worked my butt off for it. She is not an easy teacher, so if you are looking for the path of least resistance, this is NOT it. Online class was laid out very well and very organized. She does care about her students and is always there if you need help.

Brit Lit II, a few years ago. If the commenter two spaces below wrote his/her papers with that level of grammar, I wouldn't have blamed her for flunking him/her. Bonnie is fine. English Lit is a difficult subject, and if its not, you have a seriously deficient teacher. Don't take literature if you hate intellectual expansion ad tedium.

ONLINE. The discussion posts she are RIDICULOUS. By Tues. you have to answer a question with 150 words (which isn't bad), but by Sat. you have to reply to someone else's post. The reply is ridiculous because you have like 4 to choose from, and they all gave the same answer as you did, but you still have to come up with 150 words. HARSH GRADER

This class offered a valuable educational experience to students willing to put forth the effort. Prof. Tensen went above and beyond by offering interactive lectures on Illuminate. Considering the labor intensive nature of grading essays and papers, she return grades in a timely fashion, and critiqued each paper so students could improve.

This class was much harder than high school. I had to work hard. The feedback on my papers helped me to improve. The best online course I've had!

I'm in the same class and agree that there is a lot of work. But if the AVERAGE of the class is a B, then some students are getting A's. I find that if I read and follow instructions (they are very clear) I get A's on my assignments. IMHO, I think some students wait too long to do their work and don't follow directions.

She is a great teacher and she is funny and is willing to help you if you need help.

I took Her class for writing II which is her only actual class on campus. I got an A... I don't know why everyone is saying she is hard. She pushes you to do better and I found her very helpful. she always had feedback. The class average was about 85%, but everyone in my class loved her. She had a great sense of humor as well. Prof. Tensen is a very good teacher, she just wants you to understand what you are studing. Essay writing will be conducted and a reasearch report of her choosing, but you will survive. I would take her class again. I took class online. Just stay on task and she does have understanding - Communicate.

I didn't think ENC 1101 could possibly be so much fun, but it was. I learned a lot, and had fun doing it!

This professor is not as horrible as some have made her out to be. This class is NOT easy, and there is a LOT of reading and writing, and I'm reluctant to advise taking it online, but I learned a lot from this professor. Her manner online might come across as rude, but she has lots of emails to answer and methinx she's merely economical, NOT awful!

She is one of the best professors at SCC.I am taking her class online during summer A term.It's fast paced & a lot of work but worth it.She's funny, cares, and appreciates her students who put effort into their work.Those who are complaing didn't try.I've handed in 3 papers so far and have 3 100's. If you want easy w/out work go back to jr. high.

VERY NICE teacher and cares about her students. If you take this class alone there or with a regular school load there is no reason not to get an A. I am taking as A session along with 2 other A session and a Fullterm clas so if i can pull a high B in this class with a big load you can pull an A.

You will definitely work for your grade but you will learn. All she asks is that you show up, show respect and interest and do your assignments. Hello, college? Nothing you shouldn't expect. Easy to communicate with and very available.

I took this class online and she was always available to answer questions. Sometimes she responded to my emails so quickly, it was scary. You do have to work hard however. You will definitely learn more than what you bargained for. I highly recommend Prof Tensen. She was an amazing professor.

I hated every minute of this course. I worked extremely hard for my A, and felt her grading was sometimes demeaning. Way to many assignments of which you cannot work ahead. Only one week open at a time. What's the point of online if yuo cannot work at your own pace? Do not recommend this instructor. Keep in mind she wrote the textbook!

Ms. Tensen is an excellent professor. She is friendly, and goes out of her way to ensure her students have access to the appropriate material to succeed in her class. If students do not succeed in her class, it certainly is not due to her unwillingness to assist any student. If you want a good English professor, be sure to take Tensen.

This Prof. always went above and beyond! I learned more from her in an online setting than many of my face to face classes combined! She pushes you out of your comfort zone to expand your skills - a fantastic teacher!

Excellent class, but don't take it if you are lazy and looking for a easy grade. You will earn what you make. This is probably one of the more difficult classes at SSC simply because of the persistent workload involved. I highly recommend this class if you are up to the challenge.

I'm still taking her class online, but so far, so good. There's quite a heavy workload, so be prepared. However, her guidelines and expectations are COMPLETELY thorough. For an online class, she truly makes an effort to respond quickly, and she cares for the success of every student. AWESOME professor. I highly recommend her.

My FAVORITE professor at SSC! Helpful, interesting, passionate, funny, and uses technology extremely well. I wish all professors were this darn good!! She could teach some others a thing or two!!

Took this class online. Great Professor! One of the best I have had at SSC! There is a lot of work in the class, but as long as you do all of the required reading and stay on top of your assignments and quizzes and write a well written essay, you'll do well in her class. I would definitely take another class with her! She also communicates well!

She is a nice enough lady, but if you fall behind she will not hesitate to drop you from the class, which I think is ridiculous. Her worksheets are worded very clearly and all, but just don't miss anything more than 4 assignments or you're getting a big fat W. For an online class. What a joke.

Took her summer class, she is helpful but it is work overload even more so than in a full semester class. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

I took this class online. If you are not a fan of taking English literature classes, be prepared to earn your grade. The assignments are spelled out clearly and there is a lot of writing and critical thinking involved. She is wonderful at getting back to you with answers to your questions.

Professor responded right away to questions. This was a labor intensive class due to the Gordon rule and dept. requirements. It is a lot of work tor the prof. too. She kept a steady work pace but you cannot work ahead.She grades as soon as she can using rubric which translates to better grades! She doesn't pick the work apart and demand perfection.
