Absymal professor. Extremely inconstent grader (gave me a 50% on a paper because it was too short, even though there was NO specified length and was harsh on tests) The final exam covered 121 pages of calculus intensive notes. Avoid at ALL costs.
Hard teacher. She is nice, but she is a tough grader. One paper, three tests, and some homework. Avoid if there is someone better to take.
Very challenging teacher, expects a whole lot out of students. That being said, one of the best teachers I've had. If you're willing to work and learn, she's the one to take. If you want to slide by, there's probably somebody easier to take.
this lady is terrible... grades way too hard and assumes everyone knows what she is talkin about. she is not cool.
Bonnie is the STRAIGHT UP NEWNESS. If you've got the chance, hit this class with the all out quickness.
You gotta love Bonnie. Nicest teacher I ever had and she makes boring Economics interesting.
She is one of the worst teachers i have ever had in my life. Stay away from her! She expects every student to be an all-star in economics even though theyve never had it before. Hey Bonnie, booooooooooooooooooooooooo
Great professor, great class- It was my introduction to the subject of economics, and it prompted me to declare econ as a major. Dr. Wilson will challenge you, but it is worth the effort. Going to class became enjoyable!
Oh Plese!!! Bonnie is not hard at all. She uses most of the questions from tests she gave the previous year, WHICH SHE POSTS ON THE WEBPAGE, If people were not so lazy and knew how to study smart- not hard, they would have left this class with a B.
Bonnie definitely gave you a run for your grade. There is no such thing as an easy "A" in her class, but there certainly are a lot of things that you can do to help yourself get an "A" in her class. I would have avoided the class kno
it's a difficult class, but you will learn so much. her lectures are very organized and she really knows what she is talking about. posts old exam and uses most of those questions for tests. good class to take if you want to really learn economics and don't want the easy way out. awesome prof.
Obviously not her normal class, she was helpful in U101. Brought in interesting speakers and planned helpful exercises.
If you go to class, you will get a lot out of the lecture, but if you don't, you will miss a lot. She is always willing to help you. Very smart woman and sometimes hard to understand for people who have never had economics. If you want an easy A, don't take this class. But, it is possible.
this class was very hard. i think i studied the hardest out of teh whole class, and i got a 60% on teh first test. 3/4 of the class doing worse then me!! ended up dropping it so it wouldnt kill my GPA
Avoid at all costs. She doesn't realize that there is a life outside of Economics. She is a good teacher, but other Principle teachers can teach you just as much without making your GPA suffer.
Listin, here is the bottom line! She is a great Professor and does not **** around. However, the class is hard.
The best lectures I have ever seen in my life, communications people could learn a lot from this woman.Always available for help, assignments are clear and manageable, and tests are revelant to course material. Easy to get an A if you study a bit and go in for help if necessary.
I really enjoyed this class. Bonnie is a great professor and if you go to class you will do fine. She posts all her previous tests which repeat a lot of questions for future tests. Always available to get help from and a very nice lady.
Absolutely the worst teacher I've ever had the "honor" of having. Directions were extremely unclear on work and tests, grading was extremely vague and done badly and unobjectively. Work was unnecessarily difficult. Avoid at all costs if you value your GPA and your view of St. Louis University's Economics program.
Hardest Class in the Econ department. Be prepared to get your ass kicked. I graduated with a 3.76 economics gpa and in this class I got a C.
really nice and a neat person. she is good at explaining things, but the tests will still kick your butt. use all of the old tests!! they will help so much. if you need extra help, she is always willing. def the toughest econ teacher here. depending on how hard you work, you can get a lot out of her class.
Hardest class ever taken at SLU. Very hard to get an A. Does not curve tests or ever offer extra credit. The tests are very hard, the final is impossible. No one even got an A on it. Avoid taking her.
This class is probably the hardest class I have taken at SLU, and I only got a B because she did offer extra credit. Dr. Wilson does everything she can to help students, and while the class is tough, she is very fair. Not an easy A, but she is an extremely qualified teacher and wants students to do well but also to come away knowing the material.
I really liked Dr. Wilson. She was very smart, nice, and willing to help her students. I enjoyed the discussions in class.
this class is NOT as hard as everyone makes it out to be. DO aplia and actually get something out of it. DO her old tests because there are a lot of questions taken exactly from her old tests. GO TO CLASS and use her handouts for studying. this class is challenging to get an A in but is not impossible. Defintely NOT hardest class at slu.
If econ is not your thing then this is the teacher for you. She is very helpful. THe lectures are boring of course, but if you put the effort in, you will do fine. THe tests are not tricky, you just need to study throughout the class, and not the day before. Overall great teacher.
She is AMAZING! The class was challenging, I admit, but if you study the notes which are she posts online and you understand the lectures then you should be fine. She is the most articulate woman I've ver come across. Exams are multiple choice and 2 or 3 short answer ones where you have to graph usually. I reccomend her, an A is possible!
Prof. Wilson is an amazing teacher, but the class is very difficult. She grades rather harshly but it is fair. This is definetly not an easy A, but if you study old tests you should be ok.
She appears to be a very nice and nice teacher who is not to hard. Her tests are IMPOSSIBLE, I am a SMART kid and I could never crack an 85% no matter how much I studied. Homeworks were not very hard, she words the tests so no matter how much you study there going to be pretty much impossible. I WOULD AVOID THIS TEACHER!
She made Econ more interesting. She gave old exams. So you need to do them and ask her to grade them. Then you would be fine. She has a lot of homework. But she always give 90-100 that would encourage you. Half of my classmates got A.
She gives you old exams without the answers and people study them with "their" answers without taking the time to go to her office and get the right answers. Then they proceed to complain that the tests were hard and they studied old exams BUT fail to mention they studied their wrong answers. Over half the tests are old exams. Easy A.
Not an easy A but the class is interesting and helpful, you learn a lot. Professor Wilson is very knowledgeable and interesting, I was not looking forward to the subject matter but really enjoyed the class. A's on tests are do-able if you study.
This teacher seems to be very nice in the beginning, but her tests are IMPOSSIBLE!! The final is comprehensive and she takes every little concept and mixes them together, which is extremely confusing. IF YOU WANT A GOOD GPA, I WOULD SUGGEST ANY TEACHER BUT BONNIE WILSON!!
CRAZY
Oh Bonnie, oh Bonnie! I love her! Nothing but good things to say: helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. GO TO CLASS! She knows her students by name (90plus kids). Very helpful in office hours. Very enjoyable to listen to in lecture. Tests are hard but use the book and slides for help. Book coincides with lectures and examples in class. :)
GREAT teacher. If you want to learn all you can about Economics, I recommend taking this teacher. She is very compassionate and hardworking. Remember he lectures and you'll ace the test. Not as hard as everyone makes it sound..
Very tough, although you learn a lot. A portion of student did not get a passing grade, almost impossible to get an A. Avoid if you want an easy A.
Really great teacher, truly cares about the students and wants them to perform well. Its not an easy class and takes some heavy studying to get an A, but she is more than willing to help out and help you get the grade you want. Awesome class, awesome tacher.
Bonnie Wilson is a really great teacher and very personable. She makes Econ more interesting than I ever thought it would be, but she goes through material very quickly and if you ask her to slow down, she just slowly restates what she already said. Love the teacher, but was impossible for me really grasp ideals...kinda difficult class.
Trade is a HARD class but she's very helpful. It takes work and missing class will put you behind. With that being said...take this class. I haven't learn more in any econ class than what I've learned in this class. In the end it has been every interesting and without knowing what this course will teach you would put you behind other econ majors.
One of the best teachers I have experienced here at SLU. She loves what she teaches and is very willing to help if you don't understand something. The homework can be tricky and her tests are hard if you don't study or go to class. She knows her students personally by name.
Prof Wilson is the most enthusiastic teacher I have ever had. Her tests are hard but if you pay attention in class and do the homework you can get an A. Do not be afraid to ask her questions because she is a great help in office hours. I would recommend this class over any class at SLU.
Great teacher. You need to go to her class because she expands on the slides and it's very helpful for the tests. She posts old tests on her site and she takes the same questions from the multiple choice and puts them on new tests. You need to go to her office hours for answers and I would recommend doing that. Definitely take her
Best teacher I've ever had. She's both brilliant and an incredible instructor. Her class is one of the few that actually challenge you while there's still the possibility of earning a good grade. She always encourages students to see her and is extremely helpful. (GO SEE HER). You'll remember her material and she'll make you proud of yourself.
She is a brilliant professor! extremely helpful and very good at teaching. she will make you know the material. class is not easy
Very sweet and knowledgeable woman. Wants to see her students succeed. Do the work, study, and go to class, participate, and you will do fine. She augmented my interest in the subject dramatically.
Bonnie Wilson is a fantastic teacher. Passionate about her work and will go the extra mile to help students
Bonnie Wilson is such an awesome professor! I changed my major to economics because of her. I had never taken an economics class before Econ 190, I didn't even have the book, and I was able to get an A. If you do the in-class problems and if you watch economics youtube videos, you'll do great!
Bonnie Wilson is such an awesome, helpful professor. One of my favorite professors at SLU so far. The class is not difficult at all if you put in effort, and there's not a lot of homework at all.
She is an absolutely amazing teacher. She explains everything really well in class, so it is helpful to attend lectures. The tests are really straightforward and she gives practice exams that are very similar to the real exam. As long as you but in a little but of effort you can get an A in this class easily.
International trade is a great topic to study. I learned a lot about what other people thought since we had to memorize it. I think it is more important to learn why those economists thought that way and have discussion about that rather than just have you memorize the details. She is confused half the time about the theories and has no opinion.
Fantastic teacher, very passionate about the subject. Her grading scale is really in the students favor.
She a good teacher overall. Her lectures are a bit boring, because she feels the need to go over all of the reading. If you do the reading, it becomes a bit redundant. Her tests are somewhat easy. She provides samples online and reuses questions often. Always feels the need to use technical terms, which can be a bit irritating. Basic intro class.
Easy to understand, clear lectures, teaches very well. You know exactly what will be on the test before hand, no surprises. Usually has the day before the test open to the class for questions.
She'll make sure you actually know the subject material, but she does hand out old exams and reuses a lot of questions. Very willing to help outside of class. Great lectures. And her grading scale is most certainly in your favor. I was terrified of econ beforehand, but she really made appreciate the subject. Highly recommend!!
I was terrified of Econ before this class, but Professor Wilson changed that! She is an amazing teacher and there are hardly ever surprises on the tests. She even reuses old test questions for the final. I would recommend her to anyone.
Lecture is boring but she lets you use your laptop. There is in-class work so if you miss class you may miss an assignment. Old exams are posted on her website for you to look at and she copies questions from them. Final exam old exams + questions for new material. Always a few BS questions on tests. Easy B but kind of difficult to get an A.
Great professor. Does a great job of presenting the material and is obviously deeply invested in the subject. Take professor Wilson, especially if your after an economics class that has a free market bent.
The lectures can be dense, but if you can pay attention they are very interesting. Professor Wilson is an expert in economics and by the end of the class you will feel like you are too. Pay attention, take notes, especially about the answers to the homework you will see those questions again. Easy A if you are willing to put in the work for it.
She is a great teacher and makes boring things interesting. If you skip, you're going to have a hard time. If you show up, expect to easily get a B. To get an A you really have to know your stuff, but she's willing to help you understand.
Her class is set-up perfectly! You do homework out of class and then she goes over everything in class and lectures while she does that. She explains everything really well and there is no busy work or nonsense. You learn a lot and you just have to do what she asks of you! Show up to class, do your homework, study the night or 2 before the test!
I loved Wilson. She truly knows her stuff and is completely willing to help. It's not an easy A, but you'll understand what she teaches if you show up. You have homework before 95% of the classes (for completion) & she lectures and debriefs in class. Take her if you're a econaccountingfinance major to get a solid understanding of the subject.
Dr. Wilson is the greatest. She is the sole reason I picked up the ECON major. Her lectures are interesting, the material is relevant, and she is always there for you. She really wants her students to succeed and it shines through in her teaching. 10/10 would recommend for anyone at SLU! TAKE HER!!!
She is one of my favorite teachers of all time! She took what could have been a boring powerpoint instructed class and made it interesting. I have heard only good things about Professor Wilson from everyone in the class. I am really looking forward to taking more classes with her. Seriously take this class. It's eye opening.
She's changed up her grading this semester (Spring 2016) and instead of assigning homework, she now does everything for participation points. So now the only grades in the class are your tests, but you can make up for it with participation points. The more you talk, the more points you get and the better your grade is. She's rlly sweet too
Such a nice lady. Class isn't too hard if you actually do the homework and pay attention. Grading structure is really strange, but overall she is fantastic. Definitely go to her during Office hours if you're lost - she will clear up any confusion in about five minutes. The kids who complain/do poorly simply don't do the homework or try. TAKE HER.
She is awesome. I almost changed my major to Econ because of her. If you get the chance get her. Her method of teaching is critical thinking and analytical thinking, and her class opens your eyes to new concepts and points of view by forming your own opinions. Amazing person!
recommend.
I really enjoyed having Dr. Wilson as an econ professor. The topic itself isn't dull, but she makes it EVEN more fun! If you just read the book, that's where she gets all her lectures from. Not super hard, but super interesting for sure! Would 100% take it again.
Bonnie Wilson was great! I would absolutely recommend her! She is brilliant and you can tell when she gives lectures. She is also super sweet and caring and made it a point to learn everyones names in a 100 person lecture!
Interesting professor who knows a lot about the subject. Doesnt make you do a lot of work. Easy class and you should get an A if you try. I didnt try very hard and got a B. Only bad thing was a big portion of the grade was paprticipation, which is not a bad thing usually, but there were over a hundred people in the class so it was hard.
Her grading system is confusing and if you are a visual learner her classes will be hard. She is still one of the most intelligent profs at SLU. I always for back to readings I did for her to back up work for other classes. Definitely take her but be prepared to actually work for your grade.
The grading system in this class is terrible. You walk into class on the first day and your entire grade is weighted on your exam. The more you participate, the less of your grade is weighted on the Exam. If you participate 4 times in class, you will have 1% taken off your exam weighting. No homework to save your grade, flipped classroom, 2 exams
Its always a large class, but Bonnie makes it very manageable and usually knows everyone's names. She really teaches the content well, and uses previous tests to make new tests then gives the previous tests to students for studying.
She is so nice! If you skim the readings and take some notes before class, you will be fine. She is interesting and discussion based. Every time you raise your hand, its participation points, so ask simple questions to raise your grade. Many exam questions were from the in class homeworks, and the final was based off old exams with some extras.
Bonnie is great! She is well organized and carefully explains everything. If you pay attention to lectures and take good notes, you honestly don't need to do the readings. She's very passionate and doesn't care if we take too long on one subject and don't get to everything. Participation is optional. It can only help you.
Dr. Wilson is an amazing professor. Class is a flipped classroom style so there is a lot of homework, but each assignment never took me more than an hour. Dr. Wilson takes the homework and reiterates everything you need to know to make sure you know it. You will pass this class if you just put in real effort and time. Participationextra credit.
Bonnie is potentially the best teacher I have ever had. Her intellect is astounding, and she excels at simplifying complex information. I have learned SO much in her class, and I hope I have another with her.
Dr. Wilson is the best professor I've ever had. She gives you everything you need to succeed right there on her course webpage, so no textbook and no Pearson mylab! STUDY the practice exams because the real exams are very similar. I had to withdrawal from this course last time with a different prof, but I got a 99% A, with Bonnie. TAKE HER!!!
Prof. Wilson was a wonderful professor to have for Economics. She was incredibly kind, funny, and made everyone feel welcome. Even though the class was over zoom this semester, I still felt as though I was taking an in-person class with the way she handled class participation and lectures. I would absolutely take her again!
Bonnie Wilson is amazing. Grade is 60% best test, 20% worst test, 20% for 4 short essays, with extra credit opportunities. If you pay attention in class and/or do the assignments, you are guaranteed a B at least. She explains everything so well, and is the sweetest lady ever. Also, she knows the answers to every ECON question you might have.
Bonnie Wilson was a wonderful professor. Helped begin my interest in economics and I genuinely wanted to go to every class. She gives good feedback, is respectful, and cares a lot about her students. Highly recommend taking any class with her.
Prof. Wilson is a great professor who respects her students. The class is very much discussion-based, and being a part of class discussions will only help your grade. The more class participation and outside classwork you put in, the better your grade. She is very knowledgeable and will find an answer if she doesn't know it. I highly recommend!
Dr. Bonnie Wilson is a great professor. I enjoy taking her class this semester, and she is always willing to provide feedback. The only thing I did not like so much is test heavy it is, but you can earn participation points to make up for it. Great professor and very knowledgable.
Dr. Wilson was a great professor for my introductory course about economics. She genuinely piqued my interest in economics and made it very interesting to deeply think about. She gives very good feedback and discussions are very helpful and stimulating to engage in.
Professor Wilson is one of my favorite professors at SLU! She cares very much about her students and makes econ relatable to her students and easy to learn. Would 10/10 recommend!
Never thought I'd enjoy econ but I loved this class with Professor Wilson. She is extremely nice. This class is easy IF you participate (it counts as a grade) and read the assigned content. She posts all her old exams to study which are extremely similar to the new ones. If you put in the effort you could easily get an A.
Participation, midterm, and final are the only grades. Wish there were more quizzes or even homework assignments to help increase grade. Very nice lady and lectures are actually pretty interesting.
Bonnie is so caring. Class is all lectures. Take notes in class. Only grades are participation, midterm, and final. Go to her if you are confused because she is so helpful.
Professor Wilson is an amazing professor. I am not interested economics, but her passion is contagious. She is very professional, the class is lecture heavy but her lectures are very clear and she's willing to reiterate if you ask. Participation will boost your grade, and is worth it, since the only other grades in the class are two exams.
Professor Wilson is by far one of my favorite professors at SLU. She is super cool and funny and really cares about her students. It is very easy to engage in her class and it counts for participation which was intimidating at first but it made the whole class very interactive.
Awesome Professor!
Prof. Wilson is such a nice professor. Her lectures are very interesting even if you don't care about Econ and she is very willing and patient to answer any questions. A lot of test material comes straight from discussion questions and practice questions, so you need to go to class, but if you do this you are almost guaranteed to get an A.
Professor Wilson is one of the best professors you'd ever come across. I first thought econ would be a lot of math coming into the class but it's not. Dr. Wilson also did a really good job explaining the material and being available outside of class to answer questions. Participation is key to a good grade! Not scary at all since everyone is doing.
She is an excellent professor who is kind and approachable with her students. She encourages class participation and makes it clear that active participation is crucial for success in her class. Bonnie's grading criteria is fair and transparent, as it takes into account not just test performance, but also participation and practice problems.
Great teacher. She loves what she does and is great at it
Friggin love Bonnie, take her at all costs. I originally took 1900 with Dave S and got a C-, with Bonnie I got an A-. She posts all the old exams, which are identical to the new and you get extra credit by just participating. All the answers to practice questions are in the lectures which are based on assigned readings. They super easy to follow.
Best teacher I have had at SLU. Her lectures are amazing, but you must participate. The tests matter a lot and pretty much determine your final grade. However, if you pay attention, take good notes, and go to class you will pass no problem.
Dr. Wilson is the sweetest, she cares for and respects students. The lectures are taught verbally and through student discussion but they are actually interesting. The class is only graded on participation, short answer forms, and exams. So I highly recommend participating in case you bomb a test. Overall the class was interesting and shes so nice.
Dr. Wilson is a great professor. She is extremely passionate and it is evident in the way she teaches. The class is graded on very minimal things. You have two tests, the final, and participation points + practice problems which make up your final grade. Your grade improves the more you participate in class which is nice. Overall good class!
Prof. Wilson is passionate and makes the class engaging. Participation is key, but the grading is fair. unstuck ai was a great supplement to the course materials. Overall, an enjoyable intro to economics.
Professor Wilson is one of the best professors I've had at SLU, she is very passionate about economics and helping her students understand the core foundations of economics. She posts old exams which makes studying for upcoming tests very easy to study for. She will cold-call for homework to count for participation points but they are easy!
Bonnie was a super enthusiatic teacher that clearly liked teaching her class. There are three exams that pretty much make up your entire grade. Don't get me wrong the exams are not a brease, but bonnie is a great teacher. Classes do get very long and boring as the year goes on though.
