Test questions appear to be written with the intent to trick the reader. Too many of these type questions causes students to lose confidence in this all important subject.

Tests are all covered in the lecture. Just take good notes and you will be fine
To pass her class I recommend using a recorder in class. Her tests are strictly from her lectures and not the book.
All she does is repeat what the book says, but in a different order. 95% of what she teaches is in the book. Prepare to fail if you hate reading. She makes you read the whole thing, and her tests are based on book, barely any lecture.
She is not ****ing around and she makes you work hard for that A or B ... This class is extremely interesting and as long as you can take good notes and have good to perfect attendance you will learn a lot!!
easy class if you can take quick notes speaks fast during lecture.you need good attendance to pass her class because you can't afford to miss her lecture if you do most likely you will fail her test.
Seriously...how is this professor hard? She's clear about what essay questions might be on the test, clear about the material on the test, always asks if anyone has questions, and the lectures are fascinating. She's a good professor, and unless you sleep during class- not a hard one, either.
had her for summer....easy grader. we had 4 tests and 1 makeup/substitute opportunity by writing research paper to replace a bad/low grade on 1 of the tests...she gave everyone who did the research paper 100%! interesting lectures b/c she is a therapist!go to class and tests will be easy.
She's little bit mean, but does give extra credit. On the first day she'll come in and say my name is Dr. Wise, and there will be no eating, drinking or phones ringing, except for mine.
awesome prof. lectures clear and easy to understand. pretty intriguing because she uses real-world examples. tests arent too bad, but you MUST read the book. easy grader on essays. drops lowest test score.
Not the most Politically Correct of all teachers. Haha but really easy teacher. Tests are based heavily on textbook except for the essays which are only to be given in the lectures. So you should go to the lectures and make good notes.
she didn't give us E.C. i could've really used it :( she does let you bring drinks and cellphone she doesnt care. she comes to class and immediately startes the lecture. she just talks so you have to listen carfully and take notes. No ppt. sometimes it feels she's reading off kinda boring; if you study & take notes you'll do good if not; overall go
You MUST study to get a good grade in this class. Take notes and read the text book. I think there are 5 test including the final and you have to write a paper about 2 pages long. No projects or presentations. Attendance is important, she has you sign in the first half of the semester. She's pretty laid back and knows a lot about Psychology.
By far my favorite instructor ever. If you want to learn alot about the subject take this teacher. I took her for both Abnormal and Parenting skills. Both course were challenging, but rewarding. I have used information I learned in her courses in my following course.
currently, i'm taking her psy 101 class and so far i love her. you do need to read the book word by word plus study the lecture notes, but she's also very helpful if you're stuck on anything. her lecture style is not boring at all. come ontime on exam days (4exams+final, no reports/essays)
Dr. Wise is chill..she's really nice and she's clear about her lectures. Her tests are what she lectures on. ITS ALL LECTURE. NO VISUALS. but i think it's better that way. you actually listen and learn instead of mindlessly copying notes down. take her :)
Dr. Wise is a great professor. Don't take her if you don't plan on studying though because the class isn't a joke. She is fair. I was 3 points off from an "A" at the end of the semester and she gave it to me. Fair and honest - you can tell she knows her field well.
She lectures all day every day so you need to make sure you go to class because that is what she tests on most of the time. I bought the books and didn't read them but was still able to get a B.
thought it was going to be super easy but it wasnt. she does lecture EVERYDAY never misses class, didnt use the book even tho she says u need too for the test. make sure you take good notes cuz they will be on the test. there are 4 test drops the lowest, 1 presentation, does not give extra credit. isnt really helpful so your notes need to be good.
She is so cool. If you are going to take her class you must show up everyday because all her tests are based on the lecture, so I didnt really use the textbook at all :)
Dr. Wise not only has experience teaching psychology, but has her own business as well so she has practical knowledge instead of someone who just reads from a book. She's not the easiest but she's completely fair and respectable. I'd highly recommend her if you would like to learn about psychology.
Dr. Wise is a great teacher. If you attend class everyday and take good notes, you will get an A easy. Her tests are all based on her lectures. TAKE HER!
Nice, and often funny. You have to show up to class every day because they're all lectures. As long as you take decent notes and study, you'll pass with A's. It's very straightforward
I absolutely loved her great teacher show up everyday listen and take notes as well as study the notes. And you'll pass. Very nice but still straight to the point. Very helpful and easy to talk to. Plus she knows what she's talking about.
Great teacher. Sensible and light-hearted, but makes sure work is done. Almost no homework, 95% of this class is based off your note-taking. Ask questions if you have any. To pass with an A, you must take notes and pay attention. Attendance is important. Textbook is barely used at all. She makes the curriculum interesting to learn.
Easy class but the test are super hard
Not the easiest class because you have to work for your grade. As long as you take solid notes, pay attention and study, you'll get an A. You HAVE to go to class because your grade depends on your notes. She's really sweet but isn't a pushover. Just in general a great teacher who knows her material.
I love Dr. Wise. She's very helpful and she makes learning psychology very interesting. The only class I didn't want to miss a day of. Her classes are mandatory because she lectures everyday. Does not use power points, just talks and you have to take notes. however, she gets straight to the point and explains things really well. I recommend her! :)
Dr. Wise is a good, professional teacher. There are days where her lectures can be a bit slow and/or boring, but for the most part they're pretty interesting. You will have to write one paper, but it is really not that difficult. To pass the exams you'll need to attend class, take good notes, and study.
Dr. Wise is an outstanding professor. She knows her field very well considering she is a Psychologist herself. She really wants all her students to do well and takes the time to answer any questions you might have. The test are semi-hard and you MUST take good notes. I am glad I had her for a professor and would take any of her classes again.
Dr. Wise is an amazing professor. She knows what she's doing, and is more than willing to nswer any questions, especially right before a test. Really fun teacher with a great attitude. Show up to class, TAKE NOTES, and you should be fine. On each test there's one or two questions from the book, but other than that you don't need the book. LOVED HER
She is really helpful and wonderful. You have to work for the grade. Her tests are from her lectures, although I found that some of the multiple choice questions on the test are in the textbook. Her lectures are very insightful and she knows her field well. Great professor!
I loved this class! I always learn something new every class and it's still stuck with me to this day. You'll have to take a lot of notes. No handouts or anything. She also shows videos after lectures.
READ THE BOOK. Even read the review questions at the end and fill in the blanks. Listening to her during class and taking notes is very important, but it was such an interesting class and it seemed so short because of how active we are in class
Dr. Wise is a awesome teacher. Very straight forward and will answer any questions you have. I was amused by her sarcastic remarks and her responses to questions. Took her for summer school and the class went by quick but each class contained a lot of info so don't skip class. I didn't use my textbook and I got a C.
Took it over the summer. Very fast paced but as long as you're in class taking notes and you somehow sort of skim the book a little bit and understand most of it, you'll get an A. For summer she replaces lowest grade with a movie paper that seems interesting. Keeps the class very VERY VEEERRRY entertaining.
Okay, so the most important thing to do is LISTEN. Take as many notes as you can on her lectures and focus on getting the vital information you need on the test. In my experience; tests, the research paper, and the final are the essence of your grade. Honestly, the book isn't mandatory, so remember to fully understand definitions and concepts.
The worst
1. Show up to class 2. Pay attention 3. Take good notes on her lectures Pass with an A
If you take detailed notes, you won't need the textbook. The tests are based off her lectures so you do have to pay attention. The class is the usual deal. It's an easy class as long as you know the material. The class is clear-cut all around.
She was a very clear cut teacher. Told you what to expect, how things will get graded and made sure to say that noting taking is huge. She basically lectures for about an hour while you continuously take notes, then once she's done, you watch a movie on what she just talked about. There's 5 tests and 1 journal assignment. Pay attention!!!
Lectures are pretty long, shows videos after. As long as you take notes and study, you will be fine. Her instructions are clear, as long as you maintain steady attendance and do good on the exams then you will do fine.
Just like everyone else is saying. Take detailed notes, study those notes, pass. She doesn't talk too fast and she is incredibly clear on what to write down. If you take good notes you won't have to open your textbook at all. Great, interesting class. Great, interesting teacher.
If she says it , it will be on the test. She claims this on day 1, and in 2 classes now it it TRUE. I didn't even buy the book this time just take excellent notes in class and you will get an A.
Dr. Wise is easily one of the best teachers I've had thus far. She's hilarious and she really knows a lot about her field. She doesn't assign any homework, except one short paper. She drops your lowest test grade, which is nice. Show up to class, take good notes, and study. You'll pass easily.
I highly recommend NOT to take her class. I am currently in her class and most of the class has an F. I'm not sure if she changed her curriculum this year or what's wrong, but I can't believe how difficult her class is. She lectures the entire time, no study guide, nothing to know what will actually be on the test. She needs to help us pass.
I'm taking her class right now, honestly I have no idea why I decided to take it 7:30 class in the first place but she doesn't do PowerPoints or give out study guides. Definitely does not give out extra credit although she does try to help she is a little intimidating but I suggest not to take her class if you can't sit through an 1 1/2 lecture.
I would Not recomend her class no study guide no powerpoints and very long lectures. Most of the class is failing or have a C average. Take someone else! Oh, and NO EXTRA CREDIT
People saying she isn't fair and doesn't do power points or study guides, they aren't essential. Her lectures are thorough and her test are fair. As long as you take notes and read, you'll pass. Plus dropping the lowest test grade is nice too. She may not curve, but she's fair. Put in the work and you'll be fine. It's college, not high school.
Bonnie is a good teacher, I took her in summer so she didn't give out any homework. She drops your lowest grade but you have to write a paper on a movie. She doesn't give study guides or extra credit. Her tests are a lot of examples so know the material in the book. She is 90% lecture 10% movies.
Dr. Wise is straight up. She is old school and she tells you that the first day of class. And by old school I mean she speaks the entire time. You take notes on what she says; therefore, if you do not show up to class you will not pass. Tests are multiple choice with a short page essay on the back. Read the book.. she does not go over a few things.
If you're the type of person who doesn't do well with someone just talking and giving you information without any type of power point or visual type of notes the whole lecture it's not for you.
I took her my first semester in college and I was intimidated at first, but as long as you listen, take good notes and study, you'll pass the class. Don't worry, the lectures are interesting. I didn't buy the textbook and still passed. There's also only one paper to write. She's funny and really great professor. Would recommend to anyone!
I wish more teachers taught the way she did. She talks the whole time in class, there is really no need for the book. Take really good notes and youll ace the class. She has essay questions for each exam, make sure to understand what she is asking for in each of those questions.
Wise doesn't believe in power points. The entire class period she speaks to the class and expects you to take through notes on her lectures. She doesn't provide any study guides so it would behoove you to take extremely good notes and listen carefully as she lectures. If you're able to interpret well she's the professor for you, if not good luck!
Professor Wise is about as straightforward as they come. Her class is mostly lecture-based with some additional textbook use, so if you are someone who has trouble showing up to class, you will NOT pass her tests. She offers no extra credit, which is not a problem if you simply show up and listen.
Professor Wise is passionate about Psychology, not only does she teaches but also practices it! She is old-school, her lectures are solely based on her talking and no powerpoints which are awesome, it gives you more time to write instead of copying word for word off a slide. She uses real experiences in her practice to tie into the concepts.
She is so passication about her career. She lights up when she gives her lectures. If you pay attention to her lectures and take good notes, YOU WILL PASS. The tests have only 1 or 2 questions from the textbook. If you can take good notes, don't waste your money on a book. There is only bad thing to report, Wise is not the friendliest professor.
She is very boring. The whole class time is just her talking and talking. If you're good at taking notes with a fast pace speaking lady, then this is the class for you! Be prepared with a pillow, oh while you're at it, get a pillow for your pillow to, because her lectures are 200 court cases. Her jokes are very dry and she's very condescending.
If you take good notes you are guaranteed to pass!! She is very clear when she gives her lectures so its easy to follow and take notes, she will even repeat anything if you need. One thing I loved about her is that at the end of the class shell ask the class if anyone has questions which is a perfect time to review what notes you missed.
Shes old school of her lectures all talking. There is no extra credit, no powerpoints and talks extremely fast. She calls on students so beware. Do not take this class in the mornings, you will fall asleep.
This is the perfect class to take during summer there is no homework. Lectures are clear & interesting. As long as you take detailed notes of what she says you will do good on the exams which are not hard at all. I did not purchase the book so it is not necessary. Also there is an alternative assignment for one exam of your choice if you did bad.
She is a very straight forward teacher. Passing is easy as long as you go to class, listen to her lectures, and take good notes. Exams are multiple choice with one 10 point essay question that she tells you about and comes directly from her lectures.
She clearly lets you know everything that is going on. She gives you possible essay questions for the exams so you can study them before the exams. Her lectures are interesting. Shes very witty and funny.
This is the worst psychology professor Ive EVER taken. The way she grades is horrible and she always seems unorganized.
Literally the worst psych professor Ive Wise doesnt have slides up for her lectures, she is strictly oral, youll never see a slide in your entire semester with her. Takes forever to respond to emails. Her grading is crazy, the math doesnt make sense when you total it together. PSA: DONT TAKE HER CLASS.
I took this the summer after my junior year of high school in 2019 and Dr. Wise made it an interesting class. The whole class is basically her lecturing and showing some videos/parts of documentaries and that's essentially the exam. Be sure to take notes bc there's no slides; everything is verbal. I didn't get a textbook and it wasn't necessary.
Doesnt do zoom lectures, its all pre-recorded from months back. Lectures dont cover much of chapter - need to read textbook too. Supposed to have two two hour zoom calls a week but instead one thats half an hour long only for questions. On the other day she takes attendance via a non-graded assignment. Not personal or friendly but hard on zoom.
Says you don't need to read the book when you do. Says she gives you the answers in her lectures but doesn't. Doesn't do zoom lectures. Not friendly. Very tough grader.
Doesn't do zoom lectures, its all pre-recorded. Her lectures are very interesting and cover some of the chapter the rest of very small details is in the textbook. Only one zoom chat per week for 30 min for questions . On the other day she takes attendance via a non-graded assignment. 4 exams one easy paper (paraphrase an psychology based article)
Her class is straightforward and as long as you watch the lectures and take good notes, you will pass. Her syllabus contains test dates and what chapters you will be tested on so there are no surprises during the tests. She assigns no HW so you have plenty of time to study for the exams. She drops your lowest score at the end of the semester too
She give lectures but mainly examples about key words. Best bet is to be best friends with your text book.
Honestly, if you take this class, its gonna be hard to get an A because of how she grades. She has no homework and only provides lectures so it really felt like I wasnt learning. If you want to learn and pass the class, dont take her because she has been extremely unhelpful throughout the entire semester. Good luck to anyone that does take her.
Dr. Wise seems to be a little mean in general. Ex. She was going over something and not writing it down. A student asked her to repeat it. And she obviously was annoyed. You listen to a lot of lectures. You are only graded on tests and a paper. The tests you can't go back to the question after you go to the next one. Very old school teaching.
Professor Bonnie was an overall good professor. Her lectures are heavy but somewhat pay attention because it will be useful for the essay questions on the exams.
Her classes are pretty lecture heavy and she doesn't give out any homework except for one essay during the semester. I thought I would be bored by lectures but the way she talks is very interesting. Taking notes is really important during class, I recommend taking notes on a laptop because it's a lot of information that she talks about quickly.
Classes are lecture heavy so make sure you take good notes. I recommend taking them digitally because she talks about a lot of information quickly. The way she talks about material makes them pretty interesting. She doesn't really interact with the class and doesn't really care to know your name which wasn't a problem with me. Highly recommend her.
There was only 6 things in the gradebook so failing one thing makes a huge impact on your grade. I only saw my grade few times since they aren't posted on canvas and she printed the gradebook out and you had to check after receiving your test back. Her lectures are interesting but the tests were 50 questions and a written question worth 10 points.
This class was fairly easy. You do have to do readings and watch lecture/informational videos. Although there were many, it was enjoyable. 10/10
You do all the studying by yourself. She is kind of rude when you ask questions almost if you are bugging her. She dose not give good feed back she will write a response that says "WRONG!" With no reason behind it unless you email or text her privately. There is no homework or study guide so be sure to STUDY and you will pass.
Excellent professor, her lectures are thorough and packed with information. Take notes, watch the lectures, read the book and I can guarantee you'll do good. She is approachable with questions too. Had a blast with my intro!
Prof. Wise was a very structured, informational, and easy-to-access professor. Her psych 101 class is not challenging, but it is not an easy A. Don't be intimidated by reviews of the past and take a leap of faith with her class. Study, watch/attend every lecture, and read the textbook. Her grading style is mostly tests with an optional paper.
Bad teacher and person too be completely honest. Doesn't grade fairly at all. Work isn't that hard but she grades it as if she WANTS you to fail. She doesn't want you to pass, she wants to make you fail. Idk if she gets commission for that or something. And lastly she isn't wise at all don't let her name fool you.
I took an online class, reading is extremely heavy. About 3-4 hr lectures per week. Tried to get clarity on some things but was responded with condescending reply (I'm not sure if its on purpose but comes off that way). I will say her lectures are interesting because she tells personal stories so I do appreciate that. It's just a hard class.
Don't listen to the bad reviews. She is an excellent teacher that literally tells you exactly what is going to be on exams. She teaches Developmental Psychology in a way that makes you think. Yes, you have to take notes and read the text book. That should be expected.
Dr. Wise is awesome but you definitely need to be prepared to read chapters of 50+ pages by yourself if you take her class during the summer. Not many hard assignments as long as you're there every day and pay attention she'll literally give you the answers to her questions on them.
It's really hard to understand what she wants on her essay questions because every time it's something different so you sort of have to guess what she's thinking and those questions WILL affect your grade. She isn't too tech savvy so don't expect your grades to be updated correctly on canvas. Still uses scantrons
