As boring as Intro Philosophy may be, he made it interesting and fun to learn!
a great class to sleep....
Accent makes it difficult to understand, but as long as you read and study a little, he'll give you a good grade.
This class is primarily discussion-based - not too high of a workload. Interesting class for the most part. Has a thick accent but isn't too hard to understand.
He isn't a bad teacher. The book that which his assigments come from is horrible. I just took a test got an A easily. Reccomend him to everybody
Class is interesting. Only has one midterm, which is essay format, and a final paper of 10 pages. The midterm wasn't hard at all. Based on the discussions in class.
Don't even need a book for this one. Exams come from notes. Midterm+Final, essay format. The notes he gives are very, very good! his accent actually helped me remember ideas better. Repeats important concepts. Gives reviews before tests.
Great Teacher!!! His accent is tough at first but isnt a problem. He is clear in what he asks for, creates a lively discussion environment. The best class I had this semester. I will really miss it. I learned a lot
Great professor. Just participate a little bit and he'll be super flexible in your grade.
Very good professor. Estimulates interesting discussions. Tests rely alot on the notes, so you better take good ones. If you do that and read over the material before class you should be fine. The exams are in-class question&explanation format. Take him!
great professor
He is the best teacher you could get for Phi. He's easy with the grading but most importantly you understand the material. you don't need to even read the text just listen and make it up as you go along. He makes you think which is good.
accent, but just ask him to repeat/write it out if you don't understand. i took summer session, prolly easier than reg. semester. no need to read text. just write all his notes down to do well on exams.
All you need to do is come and listen and take notes. The tests were not hard. All essays, but he grades kind of strict.
Took him for PHI 2000 and 2010. Medium accent but has a true passion for philosophy. He was kind enough to write me a letter for a scholarship even though I didn't really talk to him much. Just take notes and this class should be a guarenteed A-, A.
AT first his accent is unbearable, but throughout the semester, he becomes understandable. One midterm and one final count each as half your grade. Listen, pay attention and look up the texts before hand at sparknotes and your'e good.

i got an A. never read the book. paid attention and particiapted alot. participate alot and i think hes gonna boost ur grade. you also need to think alot in this class. overall great professor. material is interesting. you ll get use to his accent
HOrrible Professor, really judgemental and like to have favorites! Really unbearable summer class!!! UNFAIR GRADER!!!!! Don't take him
Anyone who thinks this professor is difficult or unfair has to be on drugs. His tests are easy, his lectures are clear and he reviews till you REALLY get it. This A might be the easiest you ever get at Baruch
He is kinda philosopher but you will get used to his abstarntict ideas. He is a tough grader but fair as well. Has a passion which most professors lack. Trust me his accent is understable.
SU'04. Unless you have an interest in PHI AND have previously taken PHI classes, you should strongly consider against him. His accent makes him very unclear. Only 4 of 75 participated, so he restricted all dialogue to them--alienating the rest of us.
VERY GOOD PROFESSOR. WHATEVER HE SAYS ON HIS LECTURE IS EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING TO BE ON THE TESTS.

If you attend all his lectures, and pay good attention, you will do good on his essay exams. he might be boring, but he's a pretty nice guy. if you fail his exams, it's your fault. he's not that hard as long as you study, and listen well.
ok he has a heavy accent but still understandable, his tests are easy if you attend class and write notes during his lectures. his clear about his work, he explains to the best of his ability. all his lectures are based on philosophers no out side reference or work which makes the class easier. midt
lectures are boring but easy. one midterm and final, 50% each. exams are totally from class notes. TAKE GOOD NOTES IN CLASS!!
He is a good professor. Does not give any hw. 1 midterm and 1 final all essay form. He class he goes over the material which will be on the test. I studied hard for this class and earned a grade of B+. To get an A or A- in the class you really have to not only stude notes but textbook as well.
This professor is not that is not that easy. He is very abstract and his exams are very hard.
The professor was extremely clear on what was to be on the tests & allowed for extra credit (which I suggest doing). I had far from perfect attendance but i didnt miss much since he covered the topics so extensively. Very helpful & stayed after classes to answer qs. Easy A if you study from notes.
I found this professor to be extremely hard. I never studied so hard for any class like his and still got a bad grade. I strongly do not recommend him.
Good Professor. If you attend classes; take good notes; study hard. You should do well in class.
This professor gives new meaning to the word boring. What I did learn is that there are 114 tiles on the ceiling.
This guy is ****ing boring. He got a killer accent. His grading is ruff n tuff.
loves to repeat words , like "thats right thats right thats right" and has a accent. take good notes.
Repeats all concepts over and over. Gives extensive lectures. Lacks enthusiasm for the subject since there is no right or wrong answer. Was a picky grader for the midterm, taking off points without explanations. Overall you need to pay close attention and read the book.
Nothing is cut and dry with this crackhead. An answer is never right or wrong, but he deducts points like crazy. He is out of his mind. "the answer you wrote was not wrong, but i took off all the points" CRAZY! Very heavy accent.

I took him on spring/2005. I got A. Here is the secret: you just have to write wherever he says. Take good notes and write the same in the test.I didn't read the book.just wtite the complete notes, with his opinion. ok good luck!
I worked hard in the class and got a B+. He is a good professor. You dont need to buy or read the book. Just take good notes. He gives one midterm and one final. On the exam make sure write the whole blue book. The more you write the better grade you get. YOu can't fall behind in the class because he always goes over old and new material.
if want an A, take him. here is the trick.just listen to him and take good notes. write brief but meaningful essays on exam(make sure meaningful to him not to you, whatever he believes is meaningful).you will know what he thinks is right. even though you in philosophy class and you suppose to criticize, but donot criticize in exam.Although you can
TAKE NOTES! he goes over everything in class over and over and over and his accent is not bad at all.
Good guy.. not much reading and homework.. funny because he likes to repeat "right!" As other students say, what he believes is right. only focus on that. If you want to criticize him, do good so he has to agree with you. Then you will get an easy A
He's a good teacher. Has an accent, but its not that bad. The material is boring, and he may repeat the word "uh huh" up to 139 times per class. The midterm was very fair, but its hard to be enthusiastic during class discussions. If you take him, write up good notes, and then you don't even have to read the book.
has an accent instead of "think" he says "sink" but hes ok. easy not much hw dont really need the book just listen in class take some notes and youll be fine
Very boring professor. Repeats himself constantly with "right, right" and "uh huh, uh huh". DO NOT DISAGREE with Descartes or any of his other favorite philosophers on the midterm, he will fry your grade. Got a B in what should of been an easy A.
His class was very boring, especially because I took it on Fridays for 3 hours. I got an A- and that was with minimal work. He knows philosophy well, unfortunately you won't be very interested. Take good notes, then the book isn't necessary. He repeats "uh huh" and "that's right" over and over again. Very eccentric man, but he was alright.
his lectures are VERY BORING. But if yuo pay attention and take good notes his midterm and final are very easy. He will give yolike 10 question and you'll have to do like 6-7 of them, wirte exactly wat he said in class like a paragraph or two about and you will do fine
He is a good professor. you are really going to learn about philosophy. he might me sometimes confusing but if you have questions he would clarify it for you. TAKE NOTES and come to class in order to pass the class! He is a sweet guy. Recommend.
Good teacher! The class was a little boring, but I learned a lot. He's got an accent, but if you listen closely, you'll do just fine. Just a midterm and a final. Good choice and he knows the subject well.
come to class take notes and regurgitate the your notes on in the test and you will get an A. His classes are fun, he encourages thought provoking debates and is generally helpful.. I would recommend that you stay at least 5 feet away from him because he reeks..ahah...true thing..
what's wrong with you people, yeah, he rewinds and repeats the last word of what he says over like 5 times, how that = boring I dunno, I crack up at it up to the last day, anyways, don't buy the book, go to class, listen, take good notes, the stuff he goes over in huge detail are the stuff on the tests, 8 essay Qs, choose 5, easy A
Nice guy, truly loves what he does. Try not to miss class, you will miss a lot even though he reviews in the beginning of the class. Straight forward, but LONG, midterm and final. Let's students speak in class, have their own opinion. Draws funny pictures.
Take him, never a dull moment. Tests may be a bit of overwhelming, but if you take good notes and try to remmeber some of the stuff in class then it is a breeze.
has a bad accent. Hard grader. nice person. he only gives a midterm and a final. Don't buy the textbook just listen to him and take notes. try not to sleep, really boring class.
He is a really nice teacher..he really loves what he does n is very intelligent...has a heavy accent but its easy to get used to...attendance is very important and your notes are essential for the exams (1 midterm n a final)... tests are essays...he gives u 8-10 questions n u pick 5...he lets every1 give there opinion so it was an interesting class
I'd have to say it's more of a history lesson on Phil and doesn't really involve any critical thinking. Didn't even buy book, just take really good notes, remember them then regurgitate them on mid-term and final and you'll be OK.
EXCELLENT professor... can challenge even the brightest minds... open to all questions... all the notes come from him, not from powerpoint or previous notes... take him if you can =]
The dude's French. Hard to understand him since he slurs all the words. He's a good guy mind you but he's just confusing as hell.
doesnt know how to teach. avoid him. BAD!!!
very nice professor who is very knowlegeable. no need to buy book, all notes. tests are pretty easy if you simply take notes in class
he is good prof but he is kind of hard too.. his test r not easy n sound very easy but he isnot ..just a fair grader no curve or no extra point. take him if u go to class every thing n love to take notes. plzz dont waste ur money on book ..
Worst professor by far, very simple!
best professor. just take good notes; will be fine. very nice and knowledgeable person. love that guy.
best professor. just take good notes; will be fine. very nice and knowledgeable person. love that guy.
He's a really good professor. He is very knowledgeable and very helpful. If by chance you may have problems understanding the lecture, just go to him and he's willing to help. Take him and look beyond his accent, he's not that hard to understand in comparison to some professors at Baruch. Get into the habit of taking notes and you'll ace the class

1midterm50%,final 50%,exams are NOT mult choice, its short 5-8 essays(everything from his notes, almost nothing from the book)he gives a very good review before exams. also option for extra credit:)U MUST KNOW HOW TO TAKE GOOD NOTES to get a good grade, just coming to class and read the book IS NOT going to help. The best and easyestPHI prof,TRUST ME
I am taking his class this semester and i like him a lot. .If you participate in class he likes that a lot and he will change your grade from b- to b+ just by you participating in class. his test are easy everything from the notes.Dont bother the buy the book, those few reading that he might give you can find it on google.TRUST me
This guy is terrible, what are guys talking about. He does not give extra credit and I did participate. He is one of the rudest and nastiest people I have ever met.
HE IS GREAT! all you have to do just follow along and take good notes the notes will be your only way to getting high grades on the midterm and final both are easy essay ques participate a couple of times and he will kno your name and kno that you are paying attention. Provides very interesting topics which keep you awake even in the morning.take h
He likes some students and some he doesnt like...
UNFAIR GRADER
Very unfair grader. Just has two exams and gives you very little change to do better.
i found professor maizel's class to be extremely easy. his voice may be annoying but all you have to do to get a good grade is come to class, take notes, & study them before the two exams (midterm & final). i never opened my book or participated (except coming to every class) & i got an A. recommended.
Excellent prof. A real gem! The way he outlines the course is elegant and if you pay attention he will change the way you think! Take good notes, it is the key to passing his exams. Don't be afraid to ask him q's either or have discussions with him. He's very open to other ideas. Definitely take him!
Professor Maizel is an amazing professor.. He is very helpful and knowledgable.. it is an easy A class if you make sure you take good notes and go through them before exams and he covers everything in his review session right before exam...Highly recommmended
Really dislike this class. He has an obnoxious voice and only has two exams which is the midterm and final.
His class is extremely boring. His accent makes it a bit harder to even understand what's he saying. I don't even know how you are supposed to take notes in his class when he only talks, talks and talks. By the way, avoid sitting in the first row. He stinks really bad.
I fell asleep almost every class and the test are based on the lectures and there are only two tests. I've never fallen asleep in any other class, nuff said. Didn't do too badly on the midterm but come final time I have no idea what's going on. Horrible accent. If you're hyped on coffee, I say it's doable.
He is a great teacher, but! there are only two tests, so if you fail one, say hello to your C. Also he has a weird accent, in which it can be funny sometimes, but also difficult to understand. Class discussions are boring, but you definitely need to TAKE DOWN EVERYTHING he says. cause the correct answers are his answers
This class is EXTREMELY boring if you can stay awake in his class you'll be fine in any class in baruch. His grades are based on 2 exams, and he is not a lenient grader, even though it is almost impossible to understand him to take good notes for his exams. If you ask him a question he'll answer it because he doesnt understand what you're asking. H
Take him! He's a bit hard to understand and is boring, but I promise you, take notes of his lectures and the notes he writes out and you'll pass with flying colors. His midterm and final make the grade and they're straight from his notes. He is hard on the ears and can get boring but will seriously be an easy class if you take the notes bc he's eas
This class sucked. I u could understand an extreme borat-like accent, avoid falling asleep and take down everything he said then u'll be fine. 1 more thing. the book is harder to understand than Shakespeare. i found the class to be extremely boring, virtually impossible to stay in-tuned to his annoying voice. very hard grader. very
This class was easy. It is true others might think he's boring, but come on now, all lectures are boring. He has an accent, but you will be able to bear with it. Take good notes, no need for textbook. By the way, his midterms/finals are repeated over and over..
He has inspired me to minor in phi after taking his intro to phi class. I have taken his European Philosophy class as well. He is extremely smart and will change the way you think about everything. Excellent class discussions and is open to all ideas. Can argue back anything and make you understand the material very well. I got A's in both classes.
Very interesting class and very good professor! He knows his stuff well and the matieral is pretty easy.
goooooooooood afternooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon
He is really fun to look at and to listen to. (funny looking, voice) I laughed too hard every time I was looking at him lol Take a good note and you will get an A.
class is very easy, show up, participate (echo what he said in previous class), get an A. do not buy book, waste of money.
easyyy classssss easyyy A just write down what he says and your set with an A, in the beginning its hard to understand him with his heavy accent but then you get use to it, 1 midterm 1 final both worth 50% each of your grade that's it, and if you want he gives extra credit paper that people don't usually see on his syllabus , very interesting class
By far he's the best philosophy professor I have ever met. He has bast knowledge of the stuff and once you get through his heavy accent then you will definitely understand this class. As long you take good notes and attend class, you should definitely be able to get an A on the both the midterm and the final.
He is a great professor. His class is very interesting. Getting a good grade is very very possible by taking a good note and attending class every day. No paper to write. Just one midterm and one final. I am glad I took his class.
A cool professor! Easy A if you pay attention to his lectures and take notes. Textbooks isnt even needed if you take notes. Even though he has an accent, its easy to hear what he is saying. You take notes from what he talks about rather than him writing it all on the board.
I loved this guy. From his hilarious "Gooood Afternoon" to his "...and your assignment is," he made you laugh, think, philosophize and be happy. This class made my day brighten up. It was just a humorous adventure. What he teaches is serious stuff though. You have to appreciate it, him and you'll be good.
He is a nice man and he tries his best to make philosophy as easy as possible. As long as you go to class, take notes and talk in class, you will get a good grade. He really does want everyone to do well in the class. He does have an accent but it wasn't very difficult to understand him.
If English is not your first language, dont't take him. His accent will kill you. He just keep talking in class, no notesheet or anything on board. You have to write down what he say. If you listening is no good, you will fail. He should at least give out some notesheet for his lecture.
great professor! Very engaging and open minded. Do your work, because he does his very well!
he has a midterm and final, attendance is a must, just take all notes down, ur golden..hes a sweet old man with a french/russian accent but it passionate and lovelyy
His class is very easy but boring.if you take good notes in th class then you will be fine
He is an awesome professor..he will have you engaged in conversation.. he doesn't collect homework..as long as you take notes you be fine!!..one midterm one final ..nothing more.
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! DON'T JUST DON'T, unless you're one of those people that likes to read and participate. just take notes on what he says, and he repeats the important things so it's easy to take good notes, not the most interesting class, but fair enough
A heartless old buffoon!!! Don't waste your time with this garbage.
Great Professor. Learned a lot about Philosophy... It can get confusing at times but he does his best to explain. 2 exams and he might give extra credit if you ask him. The class was a blast, every interesting... If you don't like philosophy then it might get a little tricky.
Exellent Professor. Be advised DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK. Test is solely based on note. As long as keep up with good note, it's easy A. Attendance is not mandatory but you have to be in the class to take note. NOTE is the MOST important path way to get an A!!!!!
As long as you take good notes in each class you will do fine. Only 1 midterm & 1 final. It's impossible to fail this class since he is always repeating stuff. He doesn't grade the tests, his TA does.
Save yourself some money and do not buy the textbook. He might say you will need it, but you really don't. You can get an A in this class by doing your own research. Listening to his lectures are almost impossible; he's a caricature of the boring professor.
Good class, good professor. Just take notes and memorize them, you can write them down during the exam. Textbook is not needed as he asks to read just several pages and you can make copies of them (about 20 pages maybe) - but not necessary, as he explains what needs to be remembered (noted). Got an A
DEFINITELY one of the best philosophy prof in Baruch. He explains really well and gives questions related to the finals. The only thing i regretted is buying the book since there is BARELY any reading, and in class he goes over the few pages of reading. Take notes and listen to his lectures and its a guarantee A.
Very easy class, DO NOT BUY TEXT BOOK but if you are actually looking to learn something about philosophy this is not the class, the absolute basics are explained and does not challenge your mind in any way.
"WHAT IS THAT", you know what that is? its the worst teacher in the world. Get on his good side, and do what he wants, i regret actually showing up to class, ruined my GPA
Very funny accent. Do not buy the book. He repeats stuff over and over again. If you are a good note taker, you will find out he repeats stuff at least 3 times. And main question on exam at least 5 times. however, his accent might make you feel confused. After all, who could be even better than a professor like him, giving out exam question
HE'S THE WORST PROF. EVER! unfair grader. please avoid
ANAXIMANDER! Easy A. Repeats everything !! Just take notes, either record him and type the notes at home, or just take notes in class. On the day of the review, definitely do this because everything he talks about will be on the exam. Umm .. Easy A! Funniest Accent in the World..
Very easy A. don't need to buy book, take notes every class. the material for the exams he repeats at least 3 times. I didn't study at all during the semester, took notes, read it before the exam for about 30 minutes and got an A.
The best Philosophy Professor. Just take good notes and write down the questions he mentions in class because exam questions are similar. Easy class if you are listening and not missing classes.
Bad B.O., you can smell him before you see him... or after he's been somewhere. Otherwise, he's pretty friendly. Just listen to him and take note. You can pretty much BS the midterm & final...
There is only a midterm and final, both are free-response questions. If you pay attention and take notes then you will get a good grade. It is a pretty easy class if you listen and study your notes before the test.
SMELLS HORRIBLE...but he repeats over and over the concepts and tries to make it as simple as possible. Take good notes and dont miss class you'll do fine..he is an easy A
His accent is terrible, he is irritating, he repeats "never ever" and "yes, maybe, probably" all the time lol. He is extremely boring, but it is a very easy A. One midterm & final, take good notes and you will do good.
This professor has bad body odor. Two exams: a midterm and a final that each make up 50 percent of the grade. Don't buy the book, it will confuse you.repeats information over and over again, but it doesnt help very much because of his thick accent. Take good notes or borrow them from someone else. If u want an easy grade, take him! Boring class.
Really nice, but honestly, he does smell bad. YOU DON'T NEED THE TEXTBOOK, don't waste your money. This class is an easy A all you need to do is show up and take notes for every lecture. He repeats everything and that helps you remember so much. The tests are easy pick 5 questions out of 10, and the questions kind of relate to each other.
Good teacher, easy class just come and take notes he repeats himself 15 million times. A midterm and a final each 50 % make up your grade so study hard
Great guy, very nice. Circles around the same thing a lot. But he's very kind and easy grader.
He basically tells you everything that will be on the test. DO THE HW, it is on the test. The other half of the test he tells you the class before the test. I do not pay attention to him at all. I just study for the test how I described above. 2 tests, attendance, nothing else. hw is optional but do it right before the midterm to study fallacies
Uses textbook a lot. Reviews everything on the test the day before. 2 tests all writing.
He is easy grader. Only two exam ,50% on each one. Doing the HW, the exam question based on it.
Worst professor I had at Baruch. Put me to sleep every class. Talks in circles, smells bad, not clear at all. Do yourself a favor, and take another professor.
Idk how someone could have a problem with him, yes he smells, but he is eay. He repeats the material and questions that will be on the for the midterm and final 10X throughout the semester and goes over and over the answers heis expecting. If you dont do well you clearly werent paying any attention. Just show up and take notes and you'll do well
Perfect example of how a college professor should be. Midterm and Final, both 50% of your grade. No HW. Reviews every class, attendance sheet passed around. Makes what could be a boring topic relatively interesting by keeping you involved. Definitely recommend him!
First of all, he doesn't smell bad.Philosophy is difficult, but he repeat and explain everything over and over again, just take good notes ,read your notes before the class and you'll be fine for exams. You don't need a textbook.
Nice, not a lot of work, if you study you will do well BUT he only gives a 2 tests, each worth 50% of your grade so if you mess up on one, you may fail
All you have to do is take notes. He repeats himself 100x and the tests aren't bad. You don't have to do the hw but it helps clarify the material. He is a nice guy and really passionate about the subject. take him.
the points in class are not clear at all. he keeps repeating the same stuffs over and over again, yet without a clear thesis conveying to students. i understand philosophy may not be a too exciting subject to learn, but this professor doesn't help a lot either. class are just too monotone and not interesting, just as many other student stated.
I took this professor last semester. I currently have a total of 83 credits, and up until this class I was a straight A student; he gave me a C. Seriously, stay away from this guy. A mid term and final was given. 25 multiple choice questions in each which results in little room for error. This class will only frustrate you.
So boring! This was the worst class I have ever taken! The 2 exams were multiple choice and hard and ambiguous. Take someone else unless you want to get a D!
Great Guy, THIS IS EXACTLY HOW A COLLEGE CLASS SHOULD BE. 2 Exams 50 percent each. There is a sign in sheet. He is very repetitive and makes sure you know your stuff. Homework is optional. Highly recommend.
Two tests make up your entire grade. Not clear at all his tests are hard as hell ! Don't take unless you need to
A useless professor. I could have had the same grade or maybe even better with the spare time that I would have if I wouldn't need to show up for class. He does not explain anything, just goes over the homework that he assigns us. His grading system makes you compete with your classmates, which makes it extra hard for those that are new to college
Such a terrible class! Who gives an 18 question multiple choice final? His class is boring and your grade is based on a total of 41 questions with the midterm and final put together. He doesnt tell you how the test will be and then makes it a very specific type of test style. Theres no use of blackboard either. Dont take him, he should be replaced!
Two short exams graded on a bell curve. There is little room for error due to the length but participation helps boost your final score. Can be dull if you aren't into the subject, but he repeats everything throughout the semester and tells your what to expect on the exams. It wasn't my favorite class but if you take good notes, you'll do well.
I found him fascinating at first but after about 3 weeks, we basically learned all the material we were ever going to learn, and he just kept repeating, and repeating, and repeating himself. 2 exams; midterm and a final. If you screw up either, your done. Oh, and the final was 20 questions. Wish I was lying.
Horrible. 2 exams 50% each makes up your final grade. Minimal notes were giving, and no powerpoints. All he does talk throughout the whole lecture. Don't take him, there are better professors for this course
Don't take the class, 'nuff said...
He is a nice guy!
Prof. Maizel is the best. People think philosophy is easy, well it is not. Very interesting class, will answer any questions. Always available in his office. You need the book for a couple of short readings, nothing to die about. One midterm and one final 50% each. If you go to class, you pass. Optional HW everyday and helps boost your grade.
Great professor. Interesting and inspirational. learned a lot. Follow instructions and take notes - easy A
The guy has a hilarious accent in a good way and you get used to it. His lectures can get a little stagnant sometimes but I love philosophy so this rarely happened. He helps out your grade. Easy on attendance. Gave X-tra credit. Participate. Record review lectures the day before the test and do homework even though its optional. Easy A.
even tough he's got a heavy accent, his explanations are very clear. He is a nice person and helps a lot in order to make understand the themes. Regarding the grades, all you need to do is paying attention and taking good notes. homework is optional.
AWESOME! He actually writes on the board. No powerpoint. Lots of questions in class that invite discussion. It's not an easy A but doable if you study and attend class. Lectures are a huge help. Had fun.
Professor Maizel is nice and very motivated.
RUN. RUN AWAY AND NEVER LOOK BACK.
His lecture is strictly verbal. He's a fine professor but his tests are despicable. Don't think that since it's philosophy, you will be able to make good guesses. You won't. His tests are 25 questions long and extremely specific. They basically ask "what exactly did this guy say at this time" So be prepared to read the very tedious textbook
final grade only consist of midterm and final of equal weight. guys, do not take him! u will regret
Want to pass? Pay attention in class. Listen to his lectures. Take thorough notes. Do his optional homework. Read the textbook. There are two exams: midterm and final. Each 50% of your grade. His exams are 25 multiple choice questions. Professor is not recommended unless you like to listen to long and boring lectures.
AVOID. too much accent. only 2 tests which determine your final grade. Tests are hard because they are too specific. NOT RECOMMENDED.
Honestly, this is a stressful class. Only because you are given 2 exams which are 50% each , so if you mess up on the first exam you pretty much have to get 90+ on the next exam. Each exam is 25 MC so you have no room to mess up . I recommend sitting in the front row and being prepared every class with no exceptions. He's not a bad professor at all
Only two exams, but there's homework assigned every class, which really helps with studying. The book is confusing, so just take lots of notes and you'll be fine.
He has cool accent but you can definitely understand him. No email, no blackboard, no powerpoint. He is a nice person and explains material clearly, but the long lectures make it easy for you to fall asleep. The tests are not hard if you come to every class and take notes carefully. Assignments are optional.
Is very helpful if you reach out to him+ meet with him when you have questions. Has 2 25-multiple choice tests, assigns optional homework, and gives an extra credit assignment listed on the bottom of his syllabus only mentioned on the first day of class. If you do all these assignments, participate+ take good notes+ review them, you'll do well.
Just pay attention to lectures, wording of test questions mess you up. Only 2 exams: 25 multiple choice each.
This was a very difficult class. Two tests- midterm and final with about 18 and 22 questions each. If you ask him a question to clarify or what's on the test, he is never clear and doesn't answer your question.
In the beginning of the semester I put the most effort into the class out of most of my peers. I participated a lot and did all of the readings. I even went to him for help where he didn't show up. I hated this class. It ruined philosophy for me. I do not recommend. I got straight As in every other class except this one. Do not take if avoidable.
He is a great professor. Only gives two tests which count for all of your grad, so you must do well in both. Has an accent, but very easy to understand. Lecture can be a bit boring but if you pay attention to everything he says in class, you'll definitely get a good grade. Take good notes and record his review. There is no need to do the homework.
Be expected to do homework, it would allow you understand the material more clearly, and also read the textbook. He would clarify the textbook in class more clearly. It is likely that you'll fall asleep if you don't pay attention. There's only 2 exams that determines your whole grade so think wisely.
Everything that will be on the test will taught in class so attendance in mandatory. His reviews for the test are really helpful. You don't need to do any homework, since they aren't mandatory.
Professor Boris tries his best to talk to a class of 100+. He depends heavily on lectures. Sometimes unclear. Tests are also sort of confusing because you're not sure about the answer. The homework is optional, but I suggest you attempt it.
Easy class, just do readings and homeworks, which are all extra credit and you're good to go. Takes attendance. Exams are multiple choice. If you don't know or understand something he said, look it up online or ask to see him after class, which he loves doing. All in all, a really nice guy.
Good professor, but it is not easy to get A. Taking notes is the most important thing you should do to improve your grades.
He has an accent. Your grade is literally 50% midterm and 50% final exam. Both are 25 questions, multiple choice with a "pick the better answer" kind of thing. He does a review session the class before the exam, kind of useful. Homework is optional. Passes around an attendance sheet, but no point since your grade is literally your test average.
Midterm and final 50% each. Going to class is highly recommended. The book is necessary to do homework, but homework is not part of your grade. It's for your own understanding and the only review you'll get for the exams. Both tests were 25 mc. The one extra credit was a short paper explaining your own philosophy using the lessons.
One of the Worst professors in Baruch. if you have to take this class for some reason, never take him. he is awful. a terrible teacher. i dont know how schools can hire people like that. dont ever take him never. he is terrible. your grade is only on two exams and he beased most your grade on particpation. shouldn't be teaching at all anywhere.
This is the worst professor I have ever taken in my entire educational career. Nothing he says makes sense, he is a grumpy old man that speaks nonsense for an hour and a half. I would not recommend anyone take this course in the future, take it online or with a different teacher. He should NOT be teaching a college level course, very incompetent.
Great professor! The midterm and final are both worth 50% of your grade. Show up, participate, do the homework and you'll pass the class with an A.
Professor Maizel is very knowledgeable in his field but can be a little hard to understand due to his heavy accent and repetitions. He gives homework every class but homework is only graded for credit if it meets his criteria. The class is heavily based on two exams: midterm and final. Do your reading and ask questions in class, it will help.
His accent makes lectures quite hard to endure sometimes so forewarning. Also, read the readings and try to participate! I hated this class. He is a nice guy so I hate to be rough but..., ugh
He is an old man with an accent which is hard to comprehend. Boring lectures. There are only 2 tests for the whole semester. Get ready to do the assignments and PARTICIPATE or else he will think you cheat if you do well in the tests without participating in class. Bad experiences.
You have a lot of liberty with this course. Homework is completely optional for the whole semester, there are no written papers like some other philosophy courses have. Your grade is comprised of two exams and extra credit. You earn extra credit by participating, handing in homework, and an optional paper. Great, knowledgeable teacher.
Honestly, nothing more than average. Get on his good side, but even that doesn't matter much for your grade, just makes for a better flowing classroom. Doesn't speak good english, so prepare for that. Exams are very challenging, even if you study for 2 weeks like I did. Just suffer your way through, and finish off the class ASAP!
Two tests worth 50% each of your grades. I dont think the school would hire him as a professor. Boring lectures. Dont take if youre looking for As
Take Good Notes! Homework is assigned every class but they are not mandatory, if you do them they count as extra credit. However, they prepares you for the Midterm and Final. Professor Maizel is knowledgeable about what he is teaching and tries to make the class interesting. Participation is rewarded so try to read beforehand and answer questions.
Hes very loud and keeps repeating the same phrases. I didnt understand anything at all.
Baddd
For a Philosophy professor he sure doesnt elaborate on stuff he just yells and give test that affects your grade by like 40%. He such a bore.
Need to attend class for the notes, test is mainly class notes, 2 tests 50% each, nice and enthusiastic teacher, has an accent so may be a little hard to understand
Prof. is knowledgeable and passionate about philosophy. Hard to reach outside of class. Do the optional homework. Its extra credit and helps you understand the material. Participate to get on his good side. Readings are online so textbook is not needed. Midterm 50% Final 50% multiple choice. Not difficult if you take good notes and pay attention.
Annoying. He knows his stuff but has an accent that is hard to understand sometimes. Need to pay attention and take notes on everything if you wanna get a good grade. Cold calls for participation sometimes so do hw even if he doesn't count it to your grade. Exams are 50-50 so study for that.
Professor Maizel is no doubt knowledgeable about philosophy, but he can't teach well especially with his accent it is harder to understand. His midterm and final are based on his lectures and worded differently from what he said. I don't really recommend him if you want to get a good grade.
I have never taken a worse professor or a teacher in my life. Professor Maizel is possibly racist, and his tests do not even cover the material that he drones on and on about in class. He expects everyone to know the answers to questions already, and you are literally graded on only 2 things in the course. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS.
I never understood his accent. Extremely boring class. MCQ midterm and final. Study and you'll do well. I never studied, so I did bad.
such a knowledgable professor! however, this class is for people who are interested in philosophy. don't take this class if you just want an easy grade because it'll get boring. however, if you do choose to take it, he is very clear on what is on the exams, there are two that have equal weight, one midterm one final.
Horrible, no powerpoints or slides. Just drones on with an insufferable accent. DO NOT TAKE!
I would rate this professor as a one star but then I know nobody would see this review. please do not take this professor. He is horrible. He does not give grading criteria, 100% of your grade is based off your midterm and final, and he fails to explain the content he grades on. I would extremely cautious if you take Maizel
Boris Maizel has a thick Mediterranean accent, which would be fine except that none of his course is taught with text... It's 100% oral.
Professor Maizel is a decent teacher. To get a good grade you'll need to take active notes (record each lecture if you intend to listen to them again; it's helpful) as literally all of the things he say will be on tests. Optional hw based on a textbook. You'll do great if you participate, pay close attention, and do his optional hws.
He is okay. You can choose better professor that can teach you philosphy. Participation is a must. Try to take record/note on what he said. His midterm and final are all multiple choices. He said that homework is extra credit but he never gave me it. Reminder, I participate in his class but would say my answer is wrong then he said my answer.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS - your grade will only be made up of 2 exams: midterm 50%, final 50% - homework is optional and it doesn't even count towards your grade but it is best if you do it - all he does in class is go over the optional hw and ask questions back to students, no powerpoints at all - thick accent, sometimes voice isn't loud enough
I don't recommend Prof. Maizel, but he's a nice person. The biggest downfall of his class is his inability to incorporate technology into his lectures. No slides, no outlines, no test review, and his syllabus is not detailed. You basically enter his class without knowing what he's going to talk about that day. He is accessible outside of class tho.
This has been by far the worst experience I've had in college so far. You are teaching yourself. He is very unclear. Read the textbooks and study the few topics you can manage to understand from him.
Sometimes I think, because of this class my entire life is going to be ruined.
One of the worst professors ever!! Doesn't know the material he is teaching gave us wrong examples of fallacies and was called out. The grade is composed of two exams in which he doesn't tell you what's on the exam and the exams are really hard. Says he offers extra credit and my friends and I did it and he didn't accept any of them.
Class consists of two grades: Final and Midterm. The class wouldn't be so hard if the mid term actually had questions regarding topics discussed in class. The final was much better in regards to relevancy to the things discussed. Complains about absence, although not sure about the effect it has. Class is boring but easy to do other things in.
Very nice guy honestly but he's a horrible teacher. Tests are only 25 questions for two and they both really hard. If you're a freshmen like me who got him just take actice notes and maybe you'll get a B but this is a really hard class considering it's only a 1500 course. If you're not a freshmen than please dont take him please dont ever
if you're having a hard time for the first few days. dropped the class! just drop it!
Grades are based on only two exams, the midterm and the final . Thus, he gives the opportunity of receiving extra credit though participating in class and/or handing in answers to the questions he gives at the end of every class. Lectures are interesting .
Professor Maizel is a cool and entertaining lecturer to say the least, if you come to all his classes and take good notes on his lectures, you will pass. The content itself is not that bad, the course has no structure as there is no textbook and all content is oral. Beware of his harsh accent, he may only give definitions to terms orally 1x or 2x.
His accent really isn't that bad y'all just look for any excuse not to pay attention. I got an A in this class even though I didn't get A's on my tests. Participation and him knowing you care is what matters. Don't slack in this class, do the homeworks and GIVE THEM IN, he'll know you by name and you'll get an A. Take a lot of notes.
This professor will make you think about thinking more than you can think.
I really enjoyed this class. He is extremely knowledgeable about philosophy. Your grade is 50% midterm/50% final. Homework is optional, but help lectures make more sense, and he goes over the answers everyday. Both exams are a majority homework questions. I did the homework, participated everyday, got A's on the exams. Easiest class I took.
Professor Boris seems like he is passionate and knowledgable about Philosophy, but I did find it hard to grasp what he was trying to come across most of the time. I also couldn't focus too much because I was constantly writing notes and trying to transcribe all the ideas he would constantly throw around.
He doesnt keep you updated on your grades and doesnt announce anything on blackboard.
RUN! DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! Boris Maizel has to be one of the WORSE teachers Ive ever had. Find ANYONE else but him.
Even though you complete all the hws and goto every single class, you receive no grade if you don't participate. :/Most of the people in my class are extremely confused and DO NOT understand what he is saying. This professor makes everything difficult and confusing. Don't ever take his class...
I don't know what the other rating was saying, but homework is NOT optional. He emails me everything when I turned in an assignment saying how bad I did, and offers no suggestions. I don't even understand how it can be wrong when it's perspective questions. This isn't just me, it's everybody else in the class. He does not teach AT ALL.
Professor gave a lot of homework everyday, it took me 4-7 hours to completed it. He doesn't gave clear direction or syllabus. And he only accepted the work that is exactly what he is thinking. I have received his emails for most of my homework saying that I did most of them wrong, and he doesn't accept the correction.
prof maizel gives WAY too much homework (expect to receive an assignment EVERY class). if you SKIP, your grade will be determined based upon your PARTICIPATION, so DO NOT skip class. he has a HEAVY accent, that makes directions UNCLEAR, and RARELY responds to emails (if he does, expect to reply back the way he expects you to -- CORRECTLY).
He said that the grade would be 50% midterm and 50% final, but ended up grading based on participation only. Doing the readings & "optional" writing assignments are helpful for participating, but often assigns too much hw and doesn't explain the content clearly, so it can be hard to participate.
He does not honor his grading system. Or at least, his staff that does all of the grading for him doesn't. Two papers, that's your grade. Says multiple times that participation counts but it really doesn't. Good luck trying to make sense of anything that goes on in this class.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He grades based on his thinking at that particular moment. If you don't have quality participation he'll probably fail you. Also gives way too much homework, for a 1000 level course.
Notes are based on the questions he gives for hw. Be prepared to jot down random things he says bc I couldn't figure out a concise way of writing notes. My best advice is to open a document and copy the q&a's as you go through the semester. He recycles homework so you can prob find it online. An "eh" prof overall with two papers as your grade.
Honestly record all his verbal notes if you have to its stressful but will get you the A. Also said participation matters but never entered a grade for it it looks like the grade was just based off of the midterm and final. Write as many notes to pass this class
Participate!! No pop quizzes but gives a lot of homework. Disorganized and have to keep asking for feedback and grades.
Awful. Just awful. He is not good at talking to his students. No notes, nothing. I strongly suggest not taking him because your not going to learn anything. Worst professor I have ever taken.
Just TERRIBLE. AVOID!!!!!!!!
One of the easiest classes I have ever taken. Just listen, take notes, and participate here and there. He is straightforward and will clear up any confusion you have. Highly recommend especially if this is your first philosophy class. Don't listen to these negative reviews, they are likely from the lazy slackers who got the grade they deserved :-/
A terrible professor if he can even be called that. Theres no way he should still be teaching. His responses make no sense and often contradict the text but he will never admit hes wrong and mark you wrong instead. Best to avoid at all cost.
No assignments, Just two tests, no curve, 25 Questions, all multiple choice. No slides or visuals, the class is all lectures with no documentation or sources. The class consists of conversations between him and the students in which students must teach themselves everything prior to class and find the readings he assigns on google. STAY AWAY!
Awful professor. Claims that he wants to hear everyones opinions but only considers his own to be valid. Exams were extremely tough and had little to do with lectures. Grade consisted of two exams and participation. Drop the class immediately.
Take him if you want to be chastised for making an incorrect analysis instead of being given good feedback.
He can be difficult to understand at times but the exams (only a midterm and a final) are based on the lectures. You have to write down everything he says. He also teaches directly from the books written by old philosophers which are really hard to understand. He will probably get a bit angry if no one responds to a question.
Not the worst professor and nice deep down but Boris Maizel is outdated and will need help to update his lectures. He teaches primarily from the textbook so get ready to read it a lot and/or use the sparknotes, especially for the exams.
Prof Maizel was great and I didn't have to work too hard. I just wrote down what he said and reviewed it before the midterm. Write the main points of his lectures. For many people, they were too lazy to do that. Take him and attend classes. If you put a little effort, he'll give an A.
You need to really participate and work hard. Do not expect a easy grade, hard work=good grade. He is a very nice professor.
just no.
The review below me was one of THOSE kids. You know which ones I'm talking about. You deadass learn five people in this course. John Locke, Socrates, Aristotle, Kant, and Plato. I had less than 10 pages of notes from beginning to end of semester. I never did any of the hw either. He goes over everything in class. So easy. You literally can't fail
Nothing engaging about his class, very unclear, so much so that it's almost impossible to take notes consistently. Lacks self awareness, seems like a nice guy but honestly you barley learn anything in his class he has a habit of speaking over people also.
bro he mad chill, take him, participate, do the 3 questions assigned everynight and youre good
Avoid him please . Hes nice but hes very old and half way through a conversation he forgets what hes talking about. Hes outdated. We have no homework or quizzes so your grade is only based on the midterm and final. Dont do it to yourself please. If u know your not gonna pass those two just avoid.
2 tests- each is 50% of your grade, but that isn't really true, participation matters. That's the biggest advantage and disadvantage to the class. Wanna do well, study, and participate and you'll get an A. My hack was that I found the pre-midterm notes on studocu and would pretend that I already knew the answer to the questions he asked
He's a good professor. You need to do the homework in order to prepare for his lectures and exams if you want to pass the class. Theres only a midterm and a final. It gets a bit boring, but other than that he's chill.
2 tests, but participation matters. That's the biggest advantage and disadvantage to the class. Wanna do well, study, and participate and you'll get an A. I found the pre-midterm notes on studocu and would pretend that I already knew the answer to the questions he asked. The difference between me and the other guy was that I didn't get a 75...
When you ask him a question, he will help you understand it until you get it. You'll pass the class if you just pay attention to his lectures.
it wasn't a bad class, he's just hard to understand sometimes. no homework or quizzes, just midterm and final. just answer his questions and try to understand it lol. he's chill tho.
Theres only 3 grades in the class. Final 40%,Midterm 40%, attendance 20%, Yes, if you mess up 1 exam, your failing. He's a nice person but, he's too old school doesn't even use blackboard.
Personally I don't like the way he teach, but grade are based on midterm and final and you have to read in order to understand the class, as long as you pay attention you would be fine
old school professor and lots of things to remember for the midterm and final. You have to do good on both exams or you will fail. He takes attendance every time. The class is basically discussion but you can search during class if you forgot to do the reading since there is no graded hw.
He is horrible, do not take him!! He does not provide any notes or resources and does not use blackboard at all. His lectures are oral-based so be sure to take notes of what he says if you want to pass. The only grades he puts in are the midterm and final, which are very hard. There is no curve either, I guess he just wants his students to fail.
Two tests only that are more based on his thoughts and opinions so you have to listen to the lectures to get at least some of it. I feel like you either get his thinking and the way he teaches, or you do not. I had to convince myself that I am understanding the material even after watching videos and thinking I understood the class.
Literally sits at his desk and drones on and on for an hour & 15 (seriously I didn't see him get up from his desk once the whole semester). No study material (textbooks, notes, PowerPoint) and only a midterm and final. If you can listen to someone speak for over an hour with no sort of stimuli or engagement then this class is for you!
really knowledgeable and passionate professor...yes he's a little old fashioned & doesnt use blackboard but he has open office hours and always happy to talk. he's very sweet & you can tell he really enjoys what he teaches and cares what his student's think. the material is a little complex sometimes imo but he always takes time to explain
genuinely kind and caring professor. if you go to his office hours or just talk to him after class he'll always go over any information you dont understand. he only grades the midterm, and final so make sure to participate and study!!
Your grade is made up of one midterm and one final [and attendance] . So if you fail one it will be nearly impossible to save your grade. He has a thick accent but still understandable. Class is made up of him talking, and exchange of ideas from students willing to participate. Both midterm and final are fully multiple choice.
He doesn't have any slides or any textbook and sits and talks for 75 minutes. There is only midterm and final that will make up your grade. If you fail one of your test then it's going to be hard to pass the class.
Dont take his class. Dont know where these people come from that give him an "average" grade.
just no. you honestly have to learn on your own in this class. if y'all can genuinely retain material by just sitting there and listening to someone talk for an hour and 15 with little engagement, then by all means take this class. he is very outdated, doesn't use blackboard, only grades you get are the midterm and final. just don't take him.
Terrible professor, I don't recommend taking this class. He is incoherent and his accent makes it very hard to understand what he is saying. He grades only midterms and finals and does not use blackboard.
Knowledgeable in the field but an absolute nightmare of a professor. Grades rely solely on midterm and final (no curve). No textbook provided; learning from lectures is difficult due to his thick accent. Limited accessibility outside class, no email or Blackboard use. Avoid if possible.
his lectures are very boring, does not use any type of technology at all (blackboard, email, powerpoint) nothing! avoid this professor at all costs. very test heavy as well
Very thick accent, making it hard to understand the topics. Never really writes on the board everything is oral. No blackboard class, no online resources, no study guide. Just one midterm and a final. If you do badly on one test you have to heavily depend on the final. No extra credit. You will be teaching yourself majority of the topics.
Just don't take this class if you're not a first semester freshman. His thick accent makes it very hard to understand what he says. Only graded on 2 exams and that's all. Doesn't use any technology, textbook, or slides at all. And doesn't curve grades either. Don't recommend. If you get placed into his class, drop out immediately.
never dropped a class so quickly in my life. he has such a thick accent, you honestly can't understand him most of the time. no blackboard, no email, no resources whatsoever. he only grades the final and the midterm, so if you fail one, you're failing the class. also doesn't give extra credit. just don't take him
Would not take again, he's a really nice guy but your whole grade is based off 2 tests so towards the end of the sem ppl were withdrawing left and right. He's also bit hard to understand because of the accent so you're really on your own.
I do not recommend this professor, he does not offer anything that could help you pass the class other than having to read a lot in order to answer around 6 questions each class, on the midterm the multiple choice seemed like what he thought the answer should be rather than based on the readings. He said he has never curved a class. save your GPA.
The professors very nice and he seems fun. But the whole class only has 2 graded assignments: the midterm and the final. The class is not very hard, you just have to study before the exams because there is a lot of material about some philosophers. He is chill doe. He does not use technology whatsoever. He won't activate his course on blackboard.
Only take this class if you want to fail. Colleagues have Warned me to drop the class asap because, he is constantly causing damage to people's GPA. I should've listened. Please take another professor for this course because it is not worth your GPA plummeting.
Prof Maizel is clearly very passionate about philosophy. If you do your own research and participate he will pass you and you will do good on your midterm and final (which are the only graded assignments). He literally does not own a gmail account so you cannot contact him outside class. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you skip you will fail 100%
Talks like Gru from despicable me
I took notes every class. Participated like a beast. Got the highest in the class on both exams. One would expect an A, but no I got an A- and he said I really deserved a B. Class is easy concepts but his tests are pretty confusing and you will not get an A. Accent is hard to understand sometimes. I would avoid unless u really need to take.
Prof Maizel is passionate about philosophy, but his teaching style may not be for everyone. Attend class, engage with the material, and use resources like unstuckstudy AI to supplement your learning.
The worst professor avoid at all costs, don't know what my grades for my midterm and final were, since he uses no technology. No email. Gives you a paper syllabus to take a quick picture and you give it back. Strict on attendance, heavy accent and he does not make it easy when he writes nothing on the board. If you cant understand him tough luck.
If you're going to listen to any ratings, listen to this one. Don't take this professor; he will destroy your GPA. Just dropped the class after I saw my midterm grade. 40% midterm, 40% final, 20% participation, and no slides, no resources, no bright space. He just sits there talking for an hour talking about things that are irrelevant.
Difficult professor, no use of technology, can't even email the teacher. Assigns a couple of readings and the lectures are so difficult because his accent is very heavy (hard to understand). Most of all you have to self study. Doesn't give any assignments or quizzes so the grading is strict, 80% COMBINE FOR 2 MIDTERMS!!! and 20% participation.
Bro does not think technology exists
I think he has a 4070 Super but that didn't exist
Do not take this class like 40% of the class dropped it after the first midterm (including me). He just talks for over an hour and is quite difficult to understand. He gives a midterm and a final and that's basically all you're graded on, so if you fail one of those you are doomed and will fail the whole class. Avoid him at all costs... trust!
Please do not take it. There are no resources, and there is one midterm and one final. The questions are intentionally confusing. The majority of the class dropped the class after the midterm, including myself. He is undoubtedly a good person outside of the classroom, but he is a simply awful professor.
He is a good person, but a terrible professor. This class is test heavy, and the tests are graded based on what he believes, not actual accuracy. You will need to go to office hours a lot. But even then, it's all about how you digest the information. He doesn't write notes or use Brightspace, so it's all up to you...
midterm and final is 80% of grade and attendance is 20%. Midterm was about memorizing twenty+ different fallacies and fitting them into sentences plus additional multiple choice about other topics, while the final was 20 multiple choice. It was difficult to sit and learn through lectures as he talks the whole time with an accent and etc.
This guy does not explain things well. Gives virtually no assignments to help you learn things on your own. You are graded on two tests which are both very hard and if you fail the first one drop the class immediately. When I picked this class I didn't see this guy's ratings. Don't take this class, it is bound to lower your gpa.
Lecture heavy class. Pay attention to his lecture and you'll do just fine. If that style of teaching isn't suited for you then drop the class since there isn't any class materials outside his lectures. Also no homeworks
I had him last semester: Do not expect to do good. No A, no B, and if you get a C you get applauded by the class. There is only 2 tests that you are graded on, and it was super unprofessional throughout. No one paid any attention because of his thick accent and there was almost nothing on the board, no google classroom, and no textbook. Good luck.
nice guy and is willing to talk to you but this class was very hard to understand because of his thick accent, on to of no assignments just 2 midterms that essentially don't relate to the lecture and if you fail one good luck. Gives no extra credit and doesn't use bright space whatsoever. Take another professor if u can.
Avoid this classs if possible. While he is a nice guy his class is just terrible. His accent is extremley thick and 80% of the time I couldnt understand him at all. There is just a midterm and a final which are confusing and since he cant be understod everything is just much harder. There is no space for extra credit as its not offered.
Has a huge accent. I only got a D, to be honest, due to mercy.
LISTEN!!! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. this professor was so unorganized and his teaching style was strictly verbal and hand written (illegible btw) no homework was graded and only the miderm and final. horrible experience. Only take this class if you want to be set up to fail.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! This man was nothing short of a nightmare. Extremely difficult accent made it practically impossible to decipher anything he was saying. Teaching style was completely verbal and handwriting was illegible. Also has never heard of the word technology so there was no classroom online. Homework was optional since he never checks it
He is passionate about philosophy and dedicated to teaching. The subject matter is challenging and leaves little room for error. At times, his accent can make an already difficult class harder to follow, but I was still able to understand him. Participation goes a long way, TRUST ME. Outside of that, if you don't need this class, don't take it.
