Does not make any sence. Cant understand lectures!! Don't take him!!
everyone complained about him but he is easy- easy topics topics that are common sense, 3 tests no papers, can argue your grade and format of tests- take him although his lectures are very disorganized and somewhat unclear- overall not a hard class at all
A nice man, who is funny in his own way. The class was hard to follow even though topics were not hard at all. Gives lecture notes and study guides, so study! His tests are fair, but still challenging. I got a C, but definitely felt like I deserved a B.
Boring as hell. Hard to understand. Tries to be funny but isnt. Not good at getting people to participate. Class are slow and drawn out. Tests are pretty fair though and he gives study guides.
The class is boring, very boring, but if you can get past this he gives very helpful study guides for the tests. Make sure you know definitions and you'll be fine. He is very hard to understand, but tries to get students involved.
3 test not that hard, gives study guides. likes class participation. class is kinda boring but not bad as a gen ed. easy B
the course isnt the most popular, but i thought sum of it was interesting and esay, no hw or anything complicated. tests were fair n he was willing to take suggestions on test format and extra credit, nice guy and his accent isnt too bad
very nice guy. explains things really well, has class participation, no papers, rather simple tests, and some reading. not a hard class, just keeps you on your toes and keeps you thinking. if you READ THE BOOK, you see that he goes along with it really well, so he is organized. i liked the class.
Worst class EVER! It is soo boring! Do not take this class with him!
Gives an easy B+. Interesting topics that aren't too hard. He types out the lecture notes on blackboard so if you miss a class you have the notes. There's a little bit of reading involved but not much. Posts great study guides on Blackboard. Everything on the study guides are on the tests.
Study the studyguides on Blackboard.com and you will get at least a B+ on every test you take. He likes class participation.. volunteer to read for him, or offer an answer, and he will break into a huge smile.
I really have no problem with what he teaches, it's how he teaches it. He is prejudice against anyother religion other than his own (Eastern Orthodox Catholic)and he considers his as the rules of christianity. Anyother religion, it's not what he says it's how he says it. Difference is bad to him.
This has to be the most boring class in all the land. I haven't slpet so hard since high school history. He gives study guides u study the words like crazy and four of them end up on the tests. It's rare that any one gets above an 85 on his tests because he scrutinizes every word.
this guy is a moron, u cant understand him because he talks so quietly. It is hard to want to attend class. This class is anythin but easy. do not take if u can avoid it. good class to sleep in and watch a few movies
Grade is based on 3 tests. And they are not easy, but not impossible. If you actually read the book then you'd probably do fine. Sweet old man with an accent but boring as hell.
ok..let's just say if you open a dictionary and look up the word BORING!!.you will see Professor Nikolov's FACE!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! YOU WILL FAIL I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS!!! tests are IMPOSSIBLE!!he does not care about you or your grade...study guides do not help and only give you vocab that will be on the test which turns out to only be 20-25 points TOTAL!!! boring and terrible...do notttttt take!
sooo boring. i hardly ever went. hes very hard to understand also
A goofy looking dude and has the most boring class ever. Avoid at all costs!!!
3 tests each is 30% attendence is 10% but he doesnt take attendance. tests are ok but hes a really tough grader and doesnt curve ever. you wont get an A if thats what ure lookin for. subject matter is boring so its not his fault for putting u to sleep. anthropology is the study of bull- fake science that was made up to keep students busy.
the first day in class i wanted to scream it was so boring...he can be mean at times...tests are alright if you study...ended up with an a- but i hardly went
What a funny little man Boris was. No lie it was the most BORING class ever. But its so easy. You NEVER have to read the textbook. All his lectures are on blackboard so you never have to go to them. Just go when you work from the reader or watch a movie. this class is boring but EASY! plus everytime i went i was cracking up the whole time.
took it over the summer. was really interested in it, but it ended up boring. he takes attendence, but doesnt know who anyone is, so it doesnt matter. i stopped showing up to class halfway through and still earned an A. theres an article review and a final paper. thats it. really boring if you go, but passable if you dont.
This class was horrible! It was very boring, the professor was not good, and it's impossible to get a good grade. He has an accent, which makes it difficult to understand. However, he does post all notes on Blackboard. I would NOT recommend this professor and class to ANYONE! Save yourself! I had to drop it after a month.
Really not that bad. Definitly not the most boring teacher I've had at Towson. Tries to get the class involved. Test are not that hard if you study the study guides he posts.
at first i didn't like this class, he is a little hard to understand with his accent. but if you are willing to get past that, i think it it is an excellent class. he is very helpful and gets really excited when students participate. videos are actually interesting. i would definitely recommend this class, i've learned alot and gotten some laughs.

He is a very nice teacher and not that hard. He is very helpful with the information. Two tests and a final which is multiple choice and fill ins. The finals not even from the entire semester. There is never any homework and he doesn't take attendance so he never knows who anyone is. I would deffinately take this class.
Indeed he was a man of many talent but few brain cells. A likeness to windy miller was well justified. He was, and still is, a bit of a boris lad. Oh yeah! Good oh boris! good oh! Pip pip
He says attendance is mandatory but it really isn't. Before you buy the reader see if you can get him to post it up on blackboard. Thats where everything is. Pay close attention to the study guides. Show up for the discussion on the reader and videos to get the gist of what's going on.If you do all tat it should be pretty easy to get an A.
attendence is 10% of grade, but only takes it once the whole semester and usually just gives you the 10% which really helps your grade. buy the "reader" but dont read it, he'll tell you everything you have to know in class, also, dont read the book, it is a waste. study for tests, it is a lot of vocab.last test does have some extra credit too
Great Guy. Somewhat Bland, but its Anthropology for gods sake. Adds a little bit of humor in, and his tests are pretty easy. No the vocab, go to class, watch the movies and remember articles from the reader (dont read it, just listen in class) and you'll def get atleast a B. Good guy, great class. (ANTH 207) RECOMMENDED!!
Prof. is a nice guy but boring class! Says attendance is mandatory but gives you the attendance points reguardless. Posts all notes on blackboard, just study notes and vocab on study guide and you'll do good!
Went to every class for first test, got an 88, went to half the classes for second test, got an 89, went to no classes after that and got a 95 on the final. This is a skipper, very boring, he doesnt do attendence although his sllyabus says so
Easy class...attendance is not mandatory he gives the points. gradeis based off three tsts. easier to do well if you go. the lectures are boring but can get interesting depending on the ppl and his humor. tests arent too bad he posts his notes for you and a study guide. uses bbweb and you do not need to buy the reader he has it on black board.
nice guy. BORING class. A little hard to understand because of his accent, but you get used to it. Sit close because he talks low and you cant hear anything in the back. I opened the book once and never touched the reader. Passes around attendance sheet every few days. Tests are kinda hard. No hw besides reading which theres no point in doing!
A great professor: the classes are easy; all you have to do is take notes and the three tests. he has a pretty good sense of humor at times, and his references to other cultures' takes on hygene is hilarious. "if i were to spit in your starbucks coffee, and you didn't see it, you will drink it and you will like it."
Sit up front because he is not very loud, and it is almost impossible to hear if you are in the back. Other than that, I highly recommend his class. It's an easy A.
The tests focus on his readings, a packet sold seperately in the bookstore or available on his blackboard site. The tests focus mostly on 60% reading, 20% lecture, 20% tests. 3 Tests make up the grade for 30% each. 10% is "attendance" but probably just free points. His lectures are really boring and put you right to sleep.
He can be hard to understand sometimes. attendance is not mandatory so its hard to show up sometimes because the class is boring. if you take some notes and understand the readers then you will definitely get an A on the test. plus, the study guide is exactly like the test.
BOOORRRRIIIIINNNGGG. Boris is Bulgarian and impossible to understand and speaks in the same monotone quiet voice the whole class through, its the biggest snooze fest ever. Dont need to read, tests are exactly off the lecture and study guides. The ease is not worth how boring he is. Takes attendance randomly
The class its self was pretty simple as long as you look up the bold words before the test and somewhat pay attention to what he says. He says attendance is mandatory but I missed the last month and still passed. He is just very boring and puts me to sleep,i wouldnt recommend it but if u have him its not that hard
Really easy/snooze class. Just be sure you know what the bold points definitions/terms are from his study guides and should be able to pass from there. But attending class and listing to his lectures will def. get you that A if you need it. Class consists of 3 scantron exams with 5 definition terms on each to know. Nothing is cumalative. EASY CLASS
Great guy. Our class was small (8 total i think) but he was very personable, funny, and most importantly of all, a competent lecturer. I really liked the guy! Ask good questions and watch him come alive as a professor. Recommend him to all!
He has a slight east-European accent which might make it a bit difficult to comprehend at times.. and if you can't pay attention, you'll most likely fall asleep. Academic-wise, his class isn't that bad! Little classwork to be done, mostly readings.
DON'T TAKE HIM. He literally stands there every class and talks. No notes given, no slideshows, nothing. You have to buy the "reader" which was a waste of $40. His tests are impossible. I studied my butt off for the last two and barely got a B. He says attendance is mandatory, but it's bascically just freebie points. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.
Very useless class and teacher. 3 exams and that's it. Couple boring videos. He just stands there and talk's in a very monotonous monotone voice which can be very hard to hear and understand especially with his Bulgarian accent. He says attendance is worth 10% of your grade I don't even thinks he knows my name. No HW or extra credit don't take him
WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER. With is rambling on and on for the hour and 15 min you are in class it is hard to pay attention and let alone stay awake. Yes, he does give out study guides, but i study so hard for them and end up doing horrible. This class and teachers SUCKS.
I laughed because the smile next to this professors name is what he will look like the entire course. Which is bland and boring. He obviously knows a lot about ANTH but doesnt know a lot about teaching. He must run every semester the same because I agree with most people. He is an awful teacher and no matter how hard I studied, I always got a C.
Professor Nikolov's class occured during the summer. The class learned about witchcraft, magic, and religious belief. The class wasn't stressful at all - just do the required readings, and you'll do fine. The class work is quite manageable; very interesting.
I really enjoyed his teaching style. I would have enjoyed the class more if I were more interested in anthropology, but overall a good experience.
He has a monotoned Bulgarian accent and teaches with long boring powerpoints that he barely follows. He likes to talk and it's extremely difficult to pay attention and understand what is going on. His class is not fun at all I feel like I didn't learn anything.
A knowledgable interesting teacher. You must read the assignments to understand the course. If you do it's extremely valuable
I love Boris, I've taken three of his classes now: Religion, Witchcraft, and Magic, Peoples of the Middle East, and Cultural Anthropology. He's very interested in the cultural anthropology field and is extremely knowledgeable. However, there are many readings so if you don't enjoy reading dense scholarly articles these classes may not be for you.
Worst professor ever!!!! His lectures are basically just him rambling on about random topics. They never have anything to do with the tests. Doesn't take attendance and doesn't even bother to learn his students names. Only three tests and they're multiple choice. The only way to pass is to read the textbook. Nothing in class is ever on the test.
I really loved this class. The negative reviews are from people who probably didn't completely grasp what he tries to do for his students. The readings are supposed to supplement the material in class! Do all readings, they are very interesting! Pay attention in class, because he knows what he's talking about. 2 exams, 1 paper, work hard and pass!
The material is interesting but his lectures are long and drawn out. He did try to engage in class discussion which was nice. His syllabus is pretty straight forward. You will need to read to pass. His tests are hard but if you read the textbook and do the study guides you should be fine. I'd say it is a pretty decent gen edcore.
This man is the king of ambiguity. Get ready for unclear feedback and unexplained grades. His tests are easy, just read the book and memorize the vocab terms. However, if you have a paper, be prepared to get a grade with no explanation as to why you lost points. Make sure you do well on essays though
I think he means well but his lectures are horrible, drawn out, and conducted in a monotone voice. He also doesn't like light so he turns them all off in the classroom and closes the blinds, so you can't even see your notebook. His lectures loosely connect with the book which you practically have to memorize to do well on his tests.
He makes this class harder than it should be, I REGRET taking it big time. 3 exams 60% OF YOUR GRADE, 2 papers 30% OF YOUR GRADE, and 5 videos questions 10% OF YOUR GRADE. No laptop allowed to take notes. Exams are very tough even if you study your butt off. I have a 3.9 GPA and this will be my first C EVER! TAKE SOMEONE ELSE! Seriously!
There's a lot of reading, but the issue is mostly with the lectures being dry and heavily reliant on only the professor's voice. The material is interesting, and he is a well read and intelligent professor, but it could have been so much better if he allowed laptops or used more media in his lectures. It was hard to stay awake, let alone show up.
He had a good sense of humor. Take good notes. And just keep up with material and it's not bad.
Really dont understand the negative reviews. Class is lecture heavy yes, but the lectures are interesting, relevant, and easy to follow. There is a good deal of reading, but thats to be expected in an upper level anth class. Grading is more than fair, gives study guides for tests with page numbers. Likes you if you participate.
His class was lecture heavy but it's an interesting topic. You don't really have to read the readings but they show up on the tests later. 2 tests, 2 news updates, small country presentation and a final paper is it for grading. Make sure to participate in class. He's a nice teacher, I don't get the dislike from so many people. Not a hard class
Good person
Teaches very well in the lectures but has an "off" personality, does not understand personal excuses.
Professor Nikolov wants his students to do well. He is so knowledgable on the Middle East. After taking his class, I gained more than I ever could have imagined on the Middle East from just one class. He expects a lot so don't take this class unless you're seriously interested in gaining more insight on the Middle East.
He's not the most interesting/personable professor. Class is heavily dependent on the textbook and powerpoints that are posted on blackboard. Attendance really not mandatory, just make sure you know when the test dates are. 3 total test (including the final) and only a handful of work to be turned in on backboard. Fairly simple class!
This professor is one of the most boring at Towson. He has a strict no technology policy that he won't mind stopping the class to remind you of if he sees a laptop or phone. Doesn't take attendance but gives random worksheets throughout the semester that he uses for a participation grade. His lectures are the most dreadful things I've ever sat in.
Boris is not as bad as people say. He is monotone. The class is challenging but not impossible to pass. There are many papers to read and videos to watch. You have to pay attention in class. The textbook is necessary. Final is not cumulative: just a test. 3 Test, 1 essay, and Video notes: You don't have to be accurate/ just write anything.
Everyone saying he is not a good professor just does not want to read. He is very knowledgeable about this material and you will need to stay on top of the readings to understand the lecture. He is very smart and a nice person. He will answer questions for you but make sure they are not questions that you would probably know if you did the reading.
I took his class my first semester after transferring to towson and I regretted it. Most of the information he gives during the lecture isn't even on the test he gives. It's a must you buy the book or YOU WILL FAIL. With his strict no technology policy I wasn't even able to pull up my e book during class to see what was he even talking about.
If you rated Professor Nikolov badly, it's because you didn't read or you got caught using your phone in class. The professor is INCREDIBLY KNOWLEDGEABLE in the subjects that he teaches, and forces students to think of their answers during class. Very engaging during lectures. Just do the assigned readings, use the study guides, and you'll do well!
Class was generally easy. Lots of readings that are very long and pop quizzes are given on the readings. One 3 paged writing assignment that was very easy. There are 3 test throughout the course and as long as you review the study guide he gives out you will score well. Lectures can be very boring at times but all powerpoints are on blackboard.
Class isn't bad, it's hard to understand at times if you're not knowledgeable in this subject. His lectures are boring, though. He posts his powerpoints to Blackboard so study from there, don't waste your time in class. Actually study for the tests too, theyre hard.
There are 2 tests, 1 (10-12pg) paper, and weekly assignments that are on the readings. The readings are long and boring. Attendance is mandatory. The class is lecture heavy and so boring, he doesn't use PowerPoints so you have to listen closely.
I thought he was amazing. He does have a boring and soft voice, but he is well educated and knows what he is talking about. He wants you to learn. You will have to read and have a couple homework assignments and a paper in the end. He randomly gives quizzes about the readings. Overall, I thought he was amazing
I enjoyed this class's pacing as it was a Summer online class, the professor was very accommodating and the info was interesting. Weekly discussion posts that were mini essays, short essays midterm, and a final paper. Did not really need the text book if you attended online sessions (that were also recorded) and views PP slides he posted. Nice man.
I took this class during the pandemic. Boris is gets off topic a lot during lectures and it is easy to not pay attention. He has you do homework every week, it is usually a worksheet. His video reviews are not that hard if you write a lot.
He is a solid professor. You just have to be sure to do all of the readings because there are random quizzes that go in depth on the readings.
Prof Nikolov is very nice and has a clear syllabus for this online course (Pandemic). I have had him before and he is very nice and approachable. Had 10 weekly worksheets that helped with the study guides he have for the 2 tests, and one final paper on a topic of our choosing. Interesting range of topics all about the Middle East and its history
Due to Covid, this class was online. Zoom classes were all lectures, but in order to pass the tests you had to read the textbook. Easy grader in terms of short assignments, but tests were hard. 3 multiple choice exams and 1 essay along with shorter assignments. Very understanding teacher and open to questions.
The topics are interesting, hes a bit monotone but many professors are. If you miss class and have a legit reason he will understand. If you take notes during lectures youll do fine, there is one paper and three exams as well as 5 worksheets. As long as you show up and participate you will pass. He has random worksheets that are for attendance.
Professor Nikolov is super boring and his lectures are a drag to sit through. However, there isn't too much work to do and its not too difficult.
The lectures really aren't mandatory once you get into the mid-chunk of the semester. Professor Nikolov doesn't know the names of any of his students, and he doesn't take attendance so it really doesn't matter. You have to buy the book, but honestly I didn't read it at all and still got a B+. Do the discussions and you'll be fine!
yall I should have failed his class, I never went and never read but somehow got a C, it's easy if you try a lot harder than me lol. yeah, he may be boring but at least you pass!
Professor Nikolov is not a bad professor, he just seems boring at time. The class itself is not hard there are video reviews, essay and a few test but I consider it to be fair amount of work.
Pretty average professor. It could be a bit boring at times but there was genuinely some pretty interesting information. Midterm/Final are on the readings not the lectures. Grades are based on a few big assignments so there's not much work but the work that is assigned is worth a lot towards your final grade.
He is very knowledgeable and seems to be passionate about what he teaches. He can be a little sarcastic when you ask questions but I think that's his sense of humor. His class isn't too hard as long as you make sure to do the readings every week and there aren't many assignments.
Do not take this class!!!!!
No screens!!!!!!
Took this class for my seminar (body images through history) and it is easy if u listen. there are weekly reading that you should keep up with but they aren't a lot. only "hard" thing is the final paper. theres a midterm and final exam but he gives a study guide. i'd recommend this class it wasn't boring and the lectures were funny and interesting
Prof Nikolov isn't to say a horrible guy he is an average Prof nothing really special. He doesn't seem to care too much about his students. Everything is based on the reading from the textbook including exams which is very boring and a pain to read. Lectures make you tired. If you fail an exam it is very hard to bring your grade up. Don't recommend
i usually love all my professors regardless of their rating on here. but this professor is just so inconsiderate and unkind to his students, i cannot stand him. exams have nothing to do with lectures and are based on weird specifics in readings, he is rude abt absences (even when u have covid) generally just not a good guy. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
No a bad person, per se, but not my best professor. Can be kind of rude to students if they ask a question he thinks is dumb, and gives long and heavy readings for HW. Tests are not really based on lecture material, but the HW readings and specific things. If he were a bit nicer and revised the test material, it would be better, probably.
I had Professor Nikolov for TSEM this semester. I think overall he's a good professor. He encourages conversation and makes the lessons relevant. His grading is interesting, as I didn't get a whole lot of feedback from him if I lost points. The exams were generally easy and were online.
He rarely if ever responds to students' emails and he also doesn't show up for office hours. He never gave me feedback on anything I turned in. He's also extremely confusing and pretty rude to students. He makes sure to make you feel stupid if you ask him a question he thinks is dumb. I just got the feeling that he didn't like his students at all.
I regret choosing this professor. 1) He's boring 2) Acts like he doesn't take attendance (he does!!) 3) His tests have nothing to do with anything being said in class So take him at your own risk.
His class is based on three big exams (multiple choice), 5-7 written quizzes, 4 video review assignments, and one three or 5-page essay at the end of the semester. He expects you to read his chapters and various 8-20 page articles, but the articles are the only ones you are quizzed on. Besides that, he's great person but monotone lectures.
He's clearly intelligent and cares about what he's teaching, but his lectures are extremely boring. I always regret showing up to his class within the first few minutes. He says attendance is required, but I've never actually seen him take attendance so I don't really know for sure.
Nikolov is one of the worst professors I've ever had. Very boring lectures, during which he takes few questions and disregards students comments. Grade is based on 3 tests, 1 paper, and a few pop quizzes and video questions, all of which he provides poor grading criteria. Very slow to answer emails, and difficult to contact outside of class.
Disrespectful towards students, often answers questions or comments in a demeaning manner (as if answering a child). Rarely answered emails or attended office hours. Provided very unclear standards for the class and for how he would be grading anything. The lectures were consistently boring, and the tests rarely covered the content taught in class.
This professor is terrible. He makes class dreadful, he is very rude to students and acts like we are in high school. He will yell at you if you have your phone or any device out as he says they're not allowed (this isn't hs...). He goes over powerpoint every class which they have NOTHING to do with any of the tests.Would never recommend to anyone.
I have taken a lot of classes in my three prior semesters here at Towson, and in my fourth semester, Boris is the worst professor I've ever had. Pop quizzes regularly, monotonous readings, and the three exams, which are the biggest grades in the class, have nothing to do with the lectures. So you're showing up to class just to take attendance.
He's very rude to students and honestly speaks in an extremely condescending manner. The classes are boring as he goes over the PowerPoints the whole entire time and I regret coming to class. But attendance is required. We're graded based on 2 projects, midterm, a paper, and a final. So, if you do bad on anything, it's hard to bring your grade up.
He's very blunt and he has a dry sense of humor. I enjoyed his class. His feedback helped me as I went through assignments and his grading was somewhat forgiving. His lectures are long and there are assigned readings but the exams directly relate to the readings so you only hurt yourself by ignoring them. He wants his students to do well.
I had Prof Nikolov for TSEM Body Image Through History and thoroughly enjoyed it. Class is lecture heavy, however, tests were open note. There was one writing assignment at the end of the semester.
Things that I don't like about the professor is that on his syllabus it says we cannot make up anything and I feel like this is not fair because we students go through so much to the point that we may not be able to show up to class because of family emergencies, death in the family, health issues, etc... And mostly he makes the class boring.
He is honestly a chill professor and easy grader. The lectures are just boring sometimes but I would take this class for Tsem102
Strict yet compassionate.
This class was BORING. Professor Nikolov is very strict on technology in class, won't even let you use an iPad for notes. His lectures often don't lead to discussion. The media project is pretty easy and he does not grade to hard on exams or papers. He is very nitpicky over small tings such as grammar and spelling. Would've loved a diff TSEM topic.
extremely boring lectures; all he does is stand and talk for an hour while you sit there and take notes. does surprise pop quizzes on readings that are completely separate from the textbook but doesn't tell you what reading is for what day, and makes it confusing as to what reading needs to be done before what day of class.
Professor Nikolov's class is a mixed bag. While the lectures can be dull, using Unstuck AI and the free textbook helped me prepare for the exams. He's not the most personable, but putting in the work pays off with a solid grade.
He's not as bad as people make him up to be but those pop quizes will definetly catch you off guard. you don't need the textbook. i passed that class and never opened that book once. he doesn't take attendance but he gives random pop quizzes so i would show up to class. use AI to study and make flash cards.
Lots of pop quizzes. He can be very condescending so have thick skin if you take him. His powerpoints are good for the exams, you also have to read the outside readings which are 3 readings a week. He doesn't take into consideration that his students could be working and may also be older than normal college age. Not a super though grader.
Ignore the grade received because I am currently in his class for this semester but, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS! His lectures are very dry and he does not tell us when an assignment is due. Because of this, many students failed his pop quiz on a reading he told no one about. He then was upset at the class for not reading the excerpt he assigned.
Makes the boring lectures interesting, and you will do fine if you actually sit there and just listen. He is condescending but funny in his responses to student's ideas. Popquizzes based off of readings are brutal, even if you have actually read them. Overall, he wants you to think, learn, and do well. Def would say is one of the better Tsem topics
If you don't smoke, this class will make u an addict. Reading after reading, pop quizzes, 3 tests that are lwk common sense but annoying, boring lectures that, at this point, I don't attend anymore, and just overall a bland, boring guy. If you're thinking of taking this class for credit, don't it'll bring down your GPA.
Read!! and read thoroughly because every little detail will be on the quizzes. He is a tough grader, and he will not give you points back. I had to argue for points back one time because he had an answer different than the articles, which he LOVES to quote from. He is a little dry, but he isn't a bad teacher .He tries, but he's hard.
Can be a little boring, I do zone out occasionally, but the open class discussions help keep my attention. There is a lot of reading and quizzes every week. Staying on top of the readings and coming prepared made it manageable. My advice is to come prepared, expect the unexpected, and participate in discussions, you'll be fine.
He isn't a bad teacher overall, he can funny if you have the same humor as him. However, would I take his class, no not really only because o the pop quizzes, He is very specific in the answers to the questions.
His study guides to me are very broad and aren't really based of lectures or slides, if you catch what I'm saying. I would say the are based mostly on the readings he assigns which are a lot. He lets you take missing quizzes from what I've seen.
The quizzes are expected when you start picking it up, doesn't happen after every reading, beware of those that mostly have the reading questions (not all reading that don't have the reading questions aren't going to be quizzes, some will be).
I wish he gave better study guides, and focused the exams on the book, lectures, slides. I think he is a tough grader. I wish there less pop quizzes, and the reading question counted as a grade to save our grades a bit more. He doesn't give extra credit.
Knowing how his exams are, he doesn't seem to change the method of it. First 2 exams he said we under estimated, using his study guide and notes form slide and lectures to study that should tell a professor to change his method of exam and focus more on what students will literally study.
Not a bad guy but the class was brutal, lectures mandatory, 10 pop quizzes throughout the semester on assigned readings, tests, pop quizzes, and class in general were very annoying
His lectures were very dry and he seems to stick to his teaching methods he had years ago. Same slides and everything. There was also 10 pop quizzes and that played a big part in your grade. Would've done better if I prepared more than just reading the material. Overall I did not enjoy his class, take another professor for this course if you can.
