Take this class in the summer: pretty easy, lots of videos, didn't read a page of the 4 books assigned. I got a D on the first test, aced the final and got a B in the class. Very easy and friendly professor.
(Peoples/Cultures Mexico) A very knowledgable and enthusiastic professor that understands his students. Lots of reading on a per week basis, but you clearly know what he expects on exams and papers. I got an easy A and have learned a lot.

Low stress class. If you go to class you can get by with minimal reading. Very nice professor.
Can anybody say boring!! Had to bring other work just to keep myself awake. Reviews for test are exactly what's on it. Did not read one page of the 4 books and got a B in the class. Attendance counts so tough it out.
To much information at once! Tests have at least 5 tribes on them, and expects you to know every minor detail.
If you can come to every class and pay attention during lectures, don't even bother buying the book for Intro to Anthropology.

Gets off track easily.

Good teacher. Makes learning about different tribes interesting since he actually stayed with a tribe.
This class is super easy as long as you studt his lecture notes. Not very structured and he gets off track a lot. He tends to talk about information that is not relevant to the topic at hand. Going to class is pointless, but none the less required because of the sign-in-sheet.
Very good teacher but gets off track very easily
Dr. Biglow is laid back and easy going; however, he is a tad bit boring and hard to follow. His class is relatively easy though. He is pretty cool and gives students tons of slack!
Wow - this guy is out there on another planet. He took what sounded like a really interesting class and made it TORTURE to attend. I'd only suggest him if you're into one side of the story and not easily bored.
he is boring, must attend because he takes attendance, his tests are completely not on what he gives as a study guide. He is a horrible professor
enthusiastic but boring class. the tests are VERY hard. study plenty or else you will fail but he does curve the grades.
enthusiastic guy but his lectures are boring. you must attend class or you'll miss out on some small thing that'll be on the test. tests are hard, study A LOT and be sure to READ if you want to past the test.
This class is pretty interesting, except you do have to read a lot, especially during the end of the course. It makes it easier to print out his lectures and sit in the front of the class.
This class sucks. If you want an easy A then take it. I did nothing all semester and got the A. I did not enjoy it one bit because I did not learn anything. Near the end of the semester he requires you read a insane amount of articles. I would not take this class if my life depended on it.
terrible
the class is totally boring. there is alot of articles to read, however if you skim them youll probably do fine. he gives review sheets that help alot for tests, the tests arent easy but he curves them so none the less i got an A-.
Extremely boring. This prof. reads to you from his own power point presentation. Attend required, but pointless. You can read from BB, download or print his pp presentations and read them yourself. don't forget to post a bunch of useless comments on BB. Its part of your grade.
Excellent and very helpful. Approach him respecfully, though I have witness @#%& students giving him a hard time, even though he was trying to curve the grade...that's a no no. He's a good professor.
deuce biglow was the best!! he is such a goober, but hes so awesome. he looks just like paul giomassi from sideways!! and totally acts like his character in sideways too... i think they ripped off biglows life!!!! i would totally take this class!! soo easy!
I don't know how anyone doesn't do well in this class. Find yourself a fly honey to sit next to and flirt with while Biglow does his thing. Heres a hint, I had him for summer semester and i never opened my book. I got a B so if you try it should be all gravy. What yo do with the girl is up to u.
Run while you still can, if you are missing out on sleep at home, this would be the perfect class to get your rest in b/c he is the most BORING professor I have ever had in my entire schooling (and I am a Junior)You will not pay attention so therefore you probably wont do so great on the tests.
This guy is such an idiot. He tries to act like he knows what he is talking about, but is constantly being corrected by students. He will bore you to death, but if you want an easy A/B, this would be a good class to take. He looks and acts just like that goofy guy from Sideways.
The most pointless class I have ever taken in my entire life. Why is this even offered? Biglow is extremely boring. You will learn nothing new. If you're looking for an easy A, take it. But honestly... it's almost not worth it.
Not a hard course. Make sure to complete the test review and skim the reading material. Will curve and give extra credit on test.
Boring. He reads from powerpoint which you get off BB. Attendence is a must. Assigns way too much reading and BB crap. Keep up on the reading and you should do okay.
Never read a damn thing and got an A. Study guides are the test, show up to class and take skim notes and A guaranteed because you'll be in a big class full of intellectuals who don't show up to class. Go to class, ignore how boring it is and you can't fail people. YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO READ!
If you can be inconspicuous, it is a great time and place to catch some shut-eye. I do not recommend this class if you tend to drool or snore!!! in other words... BORING AS HELL!!!
I had him in the summer and he was perfect becuase he was easy yet fair and fairly interesting.
Very good professor, he is a little weird but very easy a if you go to the lectures.

How is this dude still teaching?

Only the complainers seem to use these. The class is easy and he interacts well with students in Q&A. If you don't learn anything, you obviously didn't care. Summer was a blast. At his best when students do the reading and can discuss.
I love it when teachers use blackboard. It makes things so simple.
Very boring class. Dr. Biglow gave many reading assignments, and then his lecture wouldn't match the book! Very confusing, and became difficult near test time
He says every test is the 'easiest he ever gave' when they are quite hard and cumulative.
You really don't even need to read the book. Just take good notes and attend class. Pretty easy test, multiple choice w/ 2 essays. Doesn't like it if your late.
...ZZZZZZZZZZ This class was a killer. Stupid kids with dumb questions made me angry and this uber geek loved it. Take this class if you enjoy comas...
I'm getting a B, but I hate the class. He is disrespectful with students, does not have a life outside his anthropology books so he is pissed off with students.
My word of advise is not to take him. He is hard to understand and does not take the time to help students. Has a problem of speaking down to students.
BORING!!!Boring lectures, boring professor. He turned what should have been an interesting class into drugery. His study guides are his tests, so after the first exam I stopped reading the textbook. Tests are fairly easy, but Biglow is NOT a good teacher.
I'm guessing last few reviewers didn't actually attend class, which is necessary to pass. He is excited about Ant which is why his class is interesting. He shows lots of films, but interesting ones. Total points 175 and you can do an extra credit paper for 20. Do the math ...I read very little, but listened to lectures and ended up with 102%. If
The class is a breeze if you just do your work, take notes and go to class. He takes roll, and it is a part of your grade. Do the assignments on blackboard. Sometimes the lectures are a bit boring and he's a little odd, but he knows what he's talking about.
simply a employs a powerpoint lecture each class, except for a few short films
This class is easy, especially if you're taking it to satisfy a cultural diversity requirement. The tests are basically the study guide, and then there's discussion questions that aren't too difficult either, if you go to class. He's a good professor, and he makes the subject interesting.
He's very passionate about this subject, however he tries way too hard to makes this easy class difficult. I read all the reading material and attended class, but still had trouble with understanding some of his test questions.
In one word, weird! He's an odd man. Very into his subject. leactures from notes on black bored and shows short films. Test are tricky but he gives extra credit on every exam making it easy to get a whole grade higher than what you would have gotten without it. Not a bad teacher, he just doesn't teach the most exciting course.
He is a great professor! His lecture is fun!!! and he is very helpful!! He is great not only as a professor, but also as a person. It's easy A class, as far as you understand what is going on during the class.
Awesome! Fun and engergetic and tells about his own field work.
Biglow is a puzzle for being so enthusiastic about the subject matter the class is kinda boring. You would think he would find some way to spice it up a little. 3 hours class is 3 hours no early releases. But if you like Anthropology, good class, I'm dual majoring because of him. Go to class if you want to pass. Oh & hes Paul Giamatti from Sideways
Not very good, told us wrong things to study for on test, whole class failed midterm.
this was one of the worst classes I have ever taken. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! everyone failed the midterm b/c there was too much info. the class is tredful. He will not stop talking and goes on and on about nothing!
This class was really boring. I have had boring classes but it was very difficult to keep up with him. The reading assignments and the class discussions were 2 different things. He knows his stuff but has a hard time relating it to where students can understand it. I would not take this class again. came to all classes and still don't understand.
This class sounds interesting, but its really not if you take Dr. Biglow. All we do everyday is powerpoints and videos. It could be so much better! Its hard to stay awake in his class. On the other hand, its pretty easy. All lectures on blackboard. I wouldnt take him again though.
He is a trip! He gets so into what he's teaching that it's funny! His class was pretty easy! He's an easy grader on papers, quizzes, and exams. You should go to class because during the 2nd part of the semester he gave quizzes once a week! He tells you specifically what is going to be on the exam!
Liked the professor, but the class (Kinship and Family) wasn't my favorite. He is a very enthusiastic professor, so I think that's what kept my attention. He is also very helpful and willing to talk to you on an individual basis. He is not one of those rigid professors who views their students as if they're cattle.
Im a business major so most of this class was boring for me, however I found some chapters/topics interesting. Attendance is mandatory;print out powerpoints and take to class to take additional notes. If you read, come to class, and listen to lectures you should easily get a B. One 5 page paper that isn't too hard. I ended up with a A.
Not a bad professor. Kind of goofy but passionate about what he teaches. I took ZERO notes. Just pay attention in class, watch the videos and you'll be fine. 5 page paper is pretty easy, make sure you cite EVERYTHING. Be on time and don't leave early. He really hates that. Even though attendance is not mandatory, he notices when ur absent
He's really helpful outside of class, but make sure you show up and stay the whole time. Try to talk to him some so he knows you- You'll do better in the course for it.
Good guy. Funny guy. Sometimes hard to follow. Passionate. Knows his stuff. Tests are a little difficult.
Boring and tells lame jokes all the time. Very biased and discriminating towards other cultures. The class is easy though if you read the book. All you have is the midterm and an online final. Gives extra credit if you stay in class all the way through. Just read the book and do the online quizzes and you should do fine.
really... just didn't get him. rather lame. never knew what he wanted.
He's a great professor and loves what he teaches. He's not hard, but you do have to study in order to pass. Attendence isn't mandatory, but it's your benefit to come to class for understanding. You will read all the books assigned, but its not that bad.
He loves what he does and is very excited. He likes students to speak up in class. He takes attendance but you dont have to go everyday. His exams are easy because he gives you exactly what to study for. I liked him a lot.
He is a kool guy. Loves to tell jokes in class but serious about covering his material in the time allotted to class. Shows a lotta videos n his tests are easy once you read the books..overall...he's a kool guy
I liked him. If you go to class you wont have any issues. He is willing to help and responds to emails quickly. I enjoyed the books we read too.
pretty easy, didnt do the huge paper and still got a B.. easy quizzes
This North American Indians class was made interesting by a prof that knows his subject area. His interest will help to raise your interest. The paper was short and the tests were easy if you listened. I didn't read at all, just went to class, listened, took notes and made an A.
He was okay. The class was interesting in itself but the lecture was hard to follow. He's super enthusiastic about the subject but didnt present the material very clearly. The tests were difficult; they rarely seemed to reflect what he told us to study. I studied super hard and made Bs...my only B in college thus far.
I really liked his class, it was not at all what I was expecting, but he made it fun and interesting. He is pretty quirky but thats ok, just laugh along. He is really sweet and it was easy to pass the course, just do the readings. Oh, and the tests are a breeze.
Biglow is a very refreshing professor. Loves what he does and likes class participation. Attendance is used for borderline grades. I would take him again.
Biglow is a great professor. He is passionate about the subject. The exams are absurdly easy, especially with the online study guides (Easy A) Lots of vids/mp3s too. Attendance was not mandatory although he did take role at the start of class. The class seemed more like liberal apologism than Indian studies at times, but he was a fair grader.
This is the second time that I am taking his class. The first time, I got a D because I didn't go to class and only read at the last minute. This time I have gone to all of the classes and read ahead of time. I have gotten A's so far. I am finding it far more interesting this time around and I actually really enjoy him as a professor. Smart guy.
He is a good teacher for the course. Reading the material is mandatory to an extent. Tests are relatively easy, with extra credit. Lectures are usually power point and old movies. All in all, he is a decent teacher for the course.
Wow, where to start? If you miss more than 2 classes, you automatically get points taken away. Lectures are dull and all over the place, hard to follow him. If you want to do well you have to read extensively. He complains a lot and is very biased. I wouldn't suggest him EVER.
Great class. Not an attendance NAZI, only showed up like 50% of the time and passed with a B. The papers were easy and so were the tests. I never studied or took notes. So if you apply yourself even just a little you'll get an A, no doubt!
Took him for Indian studies. First C i got in college. The tests arent what he told you to study. I studied hard and Got a C. Okay teacher. Not recomended from me. Is passionate about sub though
Felt like this professor wasted a lot of the student's time with rambling and often off-topic lectures. PP notes were provided. No strict attendance policy. Tests were easy, multiple choice with essay bonus. Several videos shown in class. Books were used heavily. While the class was a bore, he does seem to know his stuff.
Dr. Biglow was my favorite professor. He is a great speaker and keeps the class interesting most of the time. Most professors at UNF would do well to watch how he teaches a class. Very organized and methodical, no surprises, and its obvious he enjoys what he does. Take him.
Anyone who has said NOT to take this prof must be lazy. He is super easy, knows his stuff, and all he asks is that you read the fairly interesting books(which he assigns in small doses). If you do not, you will be using an entire day to complete his study guides. But they reflect EXACTLY what's on the test. Best teacher I've had at UNF.
I think he is a great professor! He is very organized, everything is writted on the syllabus of what is going on each day and you can tell he enjoys teaching! He does 4 exams. He gives study guides and if you read everything and attend class you will do fine on the test!
God forbid you have to sneeze or cough in this guy's class. Rather than a simple "Excuse you," he prefers to call you out by exclaiming, "That sounds awful/nasty/disgusting!" His lectures are all over the place, and the only parts about the class that are structured are the dull books you are required to read. If you enjoy rudeness, take him!

North American Indians class. Well organized, well-paced schedule, lecture can get a little on the dull side occasionally. Essentially a good professor. He keeps his material on blackboard for the students' convenience(powerpoints, video links), sticks to the schedule, makes study guides that do help, and has only 4 tests. Attendance affects grade.
He does have a bit of an issue with power but its an easy class. Gives study guides, if you do them its an easy A. quizzes are best 10 out of 12 which are also very simple to do. Seems like a high school teacher more than a professor trying to get the class to behave. I would easily take it again.
When I signed up for this class I wasn't exactly sure what it was about. But once the class started I liked it alot. it's easy, if you read the material and attend class. He really is into what he's teaching. I recommend taking this class, but ONLY if you are willing to read a decent amount.
The class is super easy, there are three books, I never read any of them and I passed the quizzes each week (he talks about the reading in class). He does have power issues and in my opinion he is the definition of "chuckle" I can't stand his laugh, it gets on my last nerves and he chuckles constantly!!
easy class and hes okay but thinks his jokes are funny when they are not! come to class and you will pass!
Good professor, kinda dry, especially if you are not into current events for Native Americans. Good class, Attendance is mandatory and a sign in sheet is handed around at the beginning of each class.
