real cool and nice guy-the class is interesting and not too demanding
He sux as a prof.
Nice guy, but sometimes the light seems to not be on. Missed most of the first couple of weeks of class. The rat exercises are a joke.

Decent person but does not get his points across very well so you have trouble deciding what is and what is not important in class.
I took him for the honors course, and found that getting an A was very easy. We did a lot of discussion, but no in class work. All tests and quizzes were done online and obviously were open book. He was an easy A. Good guy.
he is very unorganized, he is never prepared for class. But you can argue grades and get points back. sweet!!
Very unprepaired for class disscusions. Hard time getting his points across to students. Fumbles with his thoughts allot. Teaching method is unique with open book quizes and points for tests. Overall bad
I think Dr. Brubaker is getting somewhat of a bad rap here. He's a very good prof, he's just a little disorganized. Some test questions are not clear, but he will recognize the ones that aren't and he will give credit on them. He has weekly quizzes so that you can't get too far behind. I've had 3 classes with him (personality, cognitive, & percepti
Very knowledgable guy if he could ever get organized. They are doing the laptop initiative and he is really into that. You have to use to book a lot and read everyday before class because there is an online quiz everyday.
I'm getting scoliosis from having to carry a 25 lb. bookbag and a 10 lb. laptop, every day to class. Thanks guy!
I found the class really easy because everything was open book, you could take quizes and tests at home, and I also found his class very interesting. It was all around a great class and I learned a lot from it. He is the number one teacher for psych 101
Dr. Brubaker is a really good researcher, but not really that good of a teacher. His thought's seemed scattered and the being in class was useless to me. I eventually quit going and just took my quizzes and tests on my own.
this class is very easy because we do everything on the computer but his class is pretty boring so everyone is like on facebook while he is talking! he isn't a bad teacher he just isn't organized
horrible teacher
I had him for Perception and he was a nice guy but not exactly the best teacher. It didn't seem like he cared at all. Attendance was optional and hardly anybody ever showed up. The class was a joke for being a 300-level class.
He rocks, he's funny and he cares about his students. It's a large class and he still cares about everyone individually! He really connects with the students. I thought this class would be really hard but he makes it so fun it's easy.
As long as you read the chapters before each class and stay atop the homework & quizzes, you'll LOVE this class.
Easy class if you read the chapters and take the online quizzes. He is a nice guy and really cares about his students
I do not like this class because the tests are extemely hard and the class ize is big,
He is a good tacher but the test are very hard
great guy, online quizzes are easy, but grades way too hard on the papers, and test are extremely hard!! dont take!
WORSTE TEACHER EVER !!!!!!!!!
Very easy. Opened the book once or twice to check my answers for online quizzes. Pay attention in class and the tests are easy. People who say they are hard didn't go to class ever or talked the whole time during lecture.
Dr. Brubaker was an okay professor. He is very scatterbrained and switches subjects frequently. The only time I used the book, was for the study guide for the tests, which are extremely difficult. The study guide helps maybe 50% of the time. He has an attendance sheet; if you don't feel like going to class, make friends to sign you in for credit
SOOOO Amusing! Fun class
This class was a 200 student lecture, so we didnt get much done. he gets off subject a lot, and skips a lot of important info b/c of lack of time. tests are hard, and he doesnt respond to e-mails. you have to answer questions about sports that count for points, which is NOT fair. he loves sports more than psychology lol
He is unorganized and scatter brained but interesting. his tests are hard and some times unfair because he sucks at wording questions and making tests. Classes are interesting tho and often class discussion is important and he takes quiz questions from class discussions even when they are unrelated tangents and do not relate to class.
He comes off kind of pompous but he's really not a bad teacher. Pay attention to the text, weekly quizzes, and power points because they will help you on your tests! And if you need help go to him and act interested. If you're interested in your grade he'll be interested in helping you with your grade.
Frequent online quizzes and a few exams. Material isn't too hard, but its a lot and varied. Questions on quizzes and exams are not just definitional and you have to apply your knowledge of the concepts to select the correct answer. He can be scattered brained, but its not terrible. You have to read the text and go to class to have a shot @ passing
I loved this professor because he was very clear about what we need to do. Watch your syllabus because he does not remind you about papers. We used clickers in this class which were a part of our attendance and it helped raise our grades. The first exam was difficult, but after my first one I received above an 80%. I would recommend it for sure.
Brubaker is a phenomenal professor. He's intelligent, competent, and fun in a super nerdy and awesome way. He has helped convince me to pursue psychology as my major of study, and I will be taking classes with him as often as possible.
Favorite professor so far. Absolutely hilarious in class, very helpful if you ask, and really knows what he is talking about. I always look forward to going to class because he makes it fun. Make sure you pay attention to lectures because he mentions a lot of the material he puts on the tests and quizzes.
Awesome professor. Early on was boring but he adapted to the class and made it enjoyable. He showed us hilarious youtube videos all the time and explained the material very well in a way to help us understand. Make sure to keep up with online quizzes though the quizzes are super easy and can be retaken multiple times. Study those for the tests
This class was usually boring, but I always went to class because you get points everyday for participation.
God awful teacher. He is scatter brained (according to what we learned in his class haha. He never comes to class prepared. He expects us to tell him to pass out the attendance sheet. He gives you 40 minutes to do a 56 question test. Worst teacher I've ever had by far. Who let him get a job here?
I learned a lot. tests were easy, always used notes, he tries to be funny, sometimes he is. he knows what he's teaching. overall he is a good professor.
This guy was very interseting. He spent too much time on helping students with minor computer problems during class because he cared about their grade. He often gave extenions on due dates. Most of the students were retard freshman so he had to deal with that. I got an A+ because I cared about my grade. Easy class if you show up. Just pay attention
Interesting guy. Easy class if you pay attention. He was fun and keeps your attention and is also a little disorganized.
GREAT GREAT GREAT professor! you can tell he loves his job, he is really nice and really funny. i loved going to his class event though it was at 8am. class was cake!you get to use a notecard for all tests, and final is not cumulative, show up everyday and youll do great!
Not too bad, not too good. Very disorganized, and I learned more from the book than from him. Tried his best to help you get a good grade and make things easier. As long as you attempt to get a good grade, you will.
I loved Brubaker! He cared about you and your work, he wanted everyone to pass and he cares. The tests were rather difficult, but he allows you to use a cheat sheet. You have to pay attention and read the book. Make sure you do the extra credit and research participation points. Overall good class!
He spends way to much time talking about blackboard for the first half of class. It is already the middle of the semester.
I took this class online. He was good at first but as the semester went on he didn't reply to my emails. I took this class so I could go at my own pace and get it done fast. If I go at my own pace and work a week or two ahead, the work is blocked so I cannot go on. It is very frustrating.
Very disorganized and terrible at returning emails. I finally was able to get responses when I called his office as he did return the call. I think he means well and wants his students to do well. If you read the do the homework you should be fine in this class. Just don't expect much help from him personally, at least in an online setting.
This professor is extremely unorganized. Thank goodness I didn't need much from him. He rarely responds to emails. He did, however, return my phone call to his office. Do the reading and the homework and you should be fine on the quizzes and tests that he gives. He knows he is disorganized so he does give you some latitude to those who fall behind.
Do the homework and weekly quizes and you will do fine in the class. I had perfect attendance so I didn't have to take the final which was killer.
Is often unorganized. First half of class is reviewing old stuff, talking about blackboard, current events, and random crap. Then students are expected to know uncovered material because of delay. Slow to respond to anything. Class is easy to succeed in, but tests are hard. Notes are allowed which makes it okay.
This class was an easy A class. It was the same thing every week, so he was consistent, plus he gave a ton of examples for things. If you go to class everyday you can skip the final, which is what I did and I still managed an A. There is quizzes each week and a few papers but that is all. I would take the class again.
Brubaker was may favorite teacher. He has a real passion for psych and everything he teaches is easy to understand. He shows hilarious videos that help you grasp the concepts and he made learning fun and easy. This class should be an easy A. Just understand the overall concepts he teaches and memorize the quizzes and you will be fine.
Taking one of Brubaker's classes is an experience for sure. The class is pretty easy and Brubaker makes it very interesting. Attendance is very important in this class if you show up to every class you don't have to take the finale.
If something goes wrong with the quizzes (which happened multiple times over the semester), he still expects you to take the quiz online even if you have already taken the exam over those chapters.
He was a great teacher! He has weekly assignments and online quizzes. The tests come straight from the quizzes, so study those and you'll be fine. If you have perfect attendance you don't have to take the final. Also, he has clicker questions so if you dont come to class its hard to get an A or even a B. If you do go to class, its an easy A.
Very disorganized. He is funny and his class can be interesting. There is homework, a learnsmart, and a quiz due each work, which can get annoying. There are clicker points so skipping class can bring your grade down a ton. Overall, he is a good teacher just do the homework, quizzes, and come to class ready ready to answer for clicker points.
Brubaker is a little unorganzied, but cmon, he teaches 3 courses with 200+ students each. He always makes lectures comes to life. Very knowledgeable & always has great youtube videos to go along with what you're learning. If you have perfect attendance all semester, you don't have to take the final.
Writing assignments were awful. Also pay attention in class because he makes you use a clicker and it counts toward your grade. Go to class
Brubaker is not really that bad. The grade you get is the grade you deserve. What you get in is what you get out. Brubaker keeps the class interesting and keeps you involved. You get points throughout the class and for showing up, three papers, a few tests and mostly lessons and assignments that he gives you a week to do.
Loved him. Homework assignment and quiz every week. You get what you put in. Its an easy A if you just literally do that work that is assigned and put effort into it. The writing assignments were difficult (only 3) Pay attention in class, bc randomly he will ask questions for clicker points. He is so so easy. Take him and you will easily get an A.
Very nice guy. Easy class as long as you study straight from the blackboard quizzes. He is a little scatterbrained, but again, very nice dude. Always willing to help you understand in a different way than he originally explained something.
He is very disorganized. I never knew when things were due because he kept forgetting about the assignments or he didn't give us access on Blackboard. The paper grade was outrageous; he wanted on thing but graded on something different. Test are based on chapter quizzes.
He is a great professor. He counts attendance. Grading scale is very clear. Very easy class.
I took him for PSY101 and ended up with an A. All the answers to the quizzes are online and the tests, for the most part, are based off quizzes. You don't need to show up everyday, but highly recommend that you do because then you don't have to take a final. The abundance of HW covers you if you do mediocre on the tests. Easy A.
Brubaker was a really cool guy. i enjoyed my psy101 class because of him. he was funny, kinda laid back, never rude and very respectful and mindful or proper terms to use when it came to gender/sex/sexuality. the 2 papers arent hard but dont procrastinate. everything is online & you dont really need your book
Very easy class as long as you do the online quizzes and hw. He is a good professor that makes learning fun.
His lectures are pretty interesting and his exams arent that bad. If you go to class with 100% attendance you can opt out of your final
My favorite professor so far. Funny. Everything is online except for the exams. Counts test 3 as your final if you have perfect attendance. Is very understanding if you miss an assignment and will re-open it. 2 easy writing assignments. Gives up to 60 points in extra credit that helps A LOT so do not miss out on it.
Wonderful
One of the funniest teachers at ISU this class was so much fun to be in so many funny jokes
I enjoyed his class, I also made this class an honors conversion and hes super nice. His psych 101 class has lots of homework and a quiz every week but they are open book and he reviews what will be on the test after class before he opens the test. 10/10 recommend!
This man is very fun and hands on. I loved the class and would take another class of his. His lectures are great and he explains everything very well. There is one paper that you have to do which is a little bit of a struggle but its not terrible.
I took his 101 class and now I am taking another class from Dr. Brubaker. His courses are fairly easy and he is super nice! I would go up to him after class if you have any questions tho because he is slow to responding via email. Overall he is a great professor.
Professor Brubaker makes the class enjoyable for everyone, and is really funny. You can tell he really cares about his students, and he will do anything to help them achieve. He's understanding openly willing to work with his students in order to help them achieve.
I personally loved this class. He made the lectures fun to watch and listen to.
I really enjoyed Brubaker's class! You have a few papers (2) readings + 48 HW questions every week. You take a good amount of tests. I would highly recommend taking his class. It sounds worse than it actually is. The lectures were actually very interesting (took up full class time) I would say the most difficult part of the class were the papers!
He is one god awful teacher. Very disorganized and sometimes comes to class very unprepared. His grading scale goes by points so be sure to do good on every test and assignment and papers because it counts
Dr. Brubaker is a little hard to follow while lecturing. However, he provides videos and graphics that make lectures interesting. Read the textbook in order to do well. Weekly online quizzes are easy, just show up to class! Exams are quiz questions with some extras thrown in. One paper- just use a lot of data. Slightly unorganized but good.
Weekly online quizzes w/ questions taken from chapter and lecture, so show up. Activities for weekly homework quizzes. Exams are basically quiz questions, some bonus opportunities, and one research paper. Brubaker is interesting, a little unorganized, but you can learn a lot. Read the book, show up to lectures, get an A basically.
Brubaker's class was an absolute waste of time, and I quite frankly never went because he would ramble and get off topic so much in lecture. Not to mention if you are unsettled by eating disorders, he does not care and will make his canvas dashboard a picture of an anorexic person. completed all assignments and exams online with no problems.
Psy 101 is an Easy class, Dr.Brubaker seems to care about the students but doesn't understand them, he also seems to be easy to upset. Class runs late the majority of the time, and get upset if students start leaving for their next class. Lots of online homework assignments, they are not hard, just annoying and time-consuming,
Brubaker was probably the best professor I had last semester! He's a super funny guy, and always made each topic understandable and enjoyable to learn about. All assignments were submitted online, and were very easy. There is one small research paper that you later lengthen and turn in a second time, and that was probably the hardest assignment.
he doesn't actually teach and never answers the email
He is so hard to follow along with. He goes on rants about weird things that have nothing to do with psychology. My high school psychology teacher was 10000 times better than him. His lectures are boring and he shows very disturbing pictures of anorexia, stds, etc. the only good thing is that attendance isnt really mandatory everyone leaves anyway
Brubaker is an amazing professor but his assistant is terrible. She grades so brutally and provides absolutely no feed back, at times I felt as if she just didnt want people to get a 100% and gave them 90% instead. There were research essays that were graded horribly. Not one person received an A, from what I know.
Plays lots of videos in class. Homework and quizzes are easy. Clearly loves what he is teaching about. Very enthusiastic.
He clearly likes what he is talking about but doesn't explain it well for students to understand. Shows lots of videos and pictures that don't really pertain to perception. He showed us 2 different pictures of naked women depicted in the Last Supper setting. Doesn't know how to work Canvas and waits until the last minute to post our homework.
Dr. Brubaker is a great professor! He's a super funny guy and always made each topic understandable and enjoyable to learn. All assignments were submitted online. There were weekly book-based chapter quizzes and weekly textbook questions. To pass these, you must read and do the chapter work. Lastly, there are two research papers and two exams
If you do not like professors with a monotone voice, do not take Dr. Brubaker. I found it extremely hard to focus in class and ended up skipping most of it. I still passed with a B- and almost acted as if the class was online. Overall, the class was easy to pass. It mainly consists of lectures, McGraw-Hill assignments, and papers.
Probably one of the worst professors I have had. Lectures about absolutely nothing. Weekly quizzes, 4 exams (200 questions), and one main paper. Super hard grader. You'll lose 30 points for missing one thing in your paper. The lectures are about nothing that's on the quizzes or exams.
rambles on about nothing that pertains to the quizzes and exams.
I saw Brad get jumped in class, multiple students going at him for his grading and he didn't back down, he even made some of them leave crying.
He is super nice, really passionate about his teachings. there's weekly reading and reading quiz (you can find the answers on quizlet). The only time he's a harsh grader is on the research paper but it isn't really that bad if you follow the guide he gives. But overall loved the class.
Professor Brubaker himself is a great guy with a lot of knowledge & passionate. However he lacks technology skills is a procrasting grader & SO UNRESPONSIVE to emails and phone calls. If you want feedback you really won't get it here & trying to get him to respond is impossible. Super nice but horrible at the actual mechanics of being a professor.
Very lecture heavy, talks entire period. He does not grade his own papers, he has a TA to the work for him and in class it seems as though they are not on the same page. The papers you write for class have instructions that are outdated and don't provide clear instruction as to what he expects from his students. Exams are taken outside of class.
Dr. Brubaker from the start of the semester has a humorous side and it has been very evident that Dr. Brubaker is passionate about his lectures and attempting to understand if the material being taught is understandable to his students'. I have enjoyed Dr. Brubaker's initiative to try and understand students' learning ways, and see us succeed.
This class is relatively easy if you pay attention. A lot of people stopped showing up halfway through the semester and most people were not really paying attention so that makes me a little sad.
His class is pretty easy. Most of his work is on lectures and PowerPoint presentations. He has quizzes, exams, and two papers. You should be fine if you do the work and attend the lectures. Fair warning, and there are some questions on his exams. That deals with activities that we do in the class, but everything is online and on canvas
His class is straightforward and engaging—weekly quizzes, four exams, and two papers (one draft, one final). He's passionate, energetic, and genuinely cares about psychology. Exams and quizzes are simple if you pay attention and study his PowerPoints. Textbook isn't needed; all materials are on Canvas!
His lectures were terrible and the tests never related to the lectures, so I never know what to study. First paper of the course was the hardest ive ever been graded.
