If you are having a hard time in class which you shouldn't, but if you were make sure you talk to TA or Professor they make it very hard for you to fail his class.

Dr. Cartwright is an excellent teacher to say the least. He's very attentive, funny, laid back, and smart. If you get his class, you're lucky. Also, the tests are comprehensive so as long as you know the stuff, it'll be easy to pass, even if you're in honors. :)

Amazing Professor, I've yet to encounter any one close to his level.Very helpful,clear, and overall interesting instructor. You're lucky if you get a chance to be taught by Dr. Cartwright.

Professor Cartwright is awsome. I love going to his class and it is so easy. As long as you read the material and attend his lectures then you will most def. get an A in his class.

This class was great, he has a really witty sense of humor and keeps you interested in the subject. Aslo, he's pretty cute in a John Cusack kind of way. Very straightforward and passable class.

Amazing teacher! I hated History before this class because it all revolved around dates! Cartwright focuses on the important details vs sill dates. He has 2 essay test, a few quizes(which help you understand the material) and 2 papers over 2 really good books. I feel sorry for those who dont take him for History1301, best History class ever!

Awesome professor without a doubt! It's really hard to fail his class. Workshops are a great way to understand the material he goes over in lectures. It's not a typical boring History class consisting of nothing but lectures. He makes it enjoyable. One of the best classes during my first semester of college.

Two essays and some workshops. The class is very easy if you keep up with it, he makes history very interesting and his class was definetly the best class I had this semester. My favorite teacher by far and very funny.

BEST teacher UTEP has to offer really makes history fun to learn and makes the class fun to attend. Not to many lectures. If you do good in the workshops you could easily achieve your A.

Funny and easy professor, he keeps you interested in history. Only 2 essays and 2 writing exams in class (mid term and final). Easy class HIGHLY recommend history 1301 with this professor.

Easy and fun class, Cartwright is pretty funny and will make class enjoyable. TA's were not too helpful and harsh on grading (at least the ones for my class) but you can talk to Cartwright and he'll see about giving you a better grade. 2 essays, mid-term and final are essays. Attend workshops they actually help...

Dr. Carwright is a great teacher. He lectures one day a week and the other are workshops day with questions based on the readings from the textbooks. There are two papers for this class and two exams. Midterm and Final and they are essay tests. Very easy class and Cartwright and his TA'S are very helpful if you utilize them and go to class.

Fantastic teacher! He was very interesting and really funny. He made his lectures super fun to listen and he really knew his subject. 2 papers and the midterm and final are the only major grades. The rest are workshop grades which are important. I highly recommend this teacher!

I really liked taking this class. Prof. made the process of writing my Jr.-Sr. paper easy. He was extremely helpful. Wish he taught other upper division Hist. courses.

EASY CLASS! loved it! attendance not necessary and you don't need to go on mondays because there are only notes and the exams are essays. i LOVE it! totally recommend it... ps. BUY the books!

Wonderful teacher! Great sense of humor!! I highly recommend him. He always answers questions and helps you during workshops. His classes consist of power points, and youtube videos to thoroughly explain what he is lecturing.

He is such a great professor. We only have two papers to write throughout the semester and he gives us the topics as time goes on, he does not wait a week before to assign it. For the midterm and final he gives us the topics on the syllabus since the first day of class. He is very informative and makes you want to learn. Always very helpful.

Professor Cartwright is an amazing professor! He was my favorite professor this semester. The class requires 2 papers (2.5-3 pages each), a writen midterm and final, and workshops which make up most of your grade. However 60 points of extra credit are given in the form of the workshops.

Easiest class I've took so far. You are given 1-2 group sessions a week, and as long as the group does well on them you're going to great in this class. Group sessions are based on books, so be sure to bring the correct book for that day. Two essays and they're easy if you use his guidelines. Lectures are interesting and funny but not required.

Very good professor!!! Very easy, helpful, and has a sense of humor. I would still show up on Mondays for the notes, because they will help you to study for your midterm and final. You only have 2 papers at home, and the midterm and final. For the papers at home, you can even bring them to him and he will make sure you are on the right track.

Really good instructor! Helps any student with any possible questions on any assignment. He makes the class very interesting. Especially at 830 am and considering I sit in the back of the class (my choice). Awesome guy!

His classes are really big, the test are 4 essays but they're really easy and the Teacher Assistants are really helpful!

Best history doctor out there

Really people this teacher is the best teacher you can hope to get. His lecture is truly interesting and funny with the videos and images, relate to history obviously, that he shows us to keep the class interested. If you read what he tells you to read it's an easy A. This is the only teacher I recommend to all of you out there.

Professor Cartwright is awesome.He makes class interesting and tries to make class fun with his sense of humor. Attendance is only mandatory on workshop days. The midterm & final consist of an essay which is quite easy because he gives you the essay questions ahead of time.Take History with him! You Won.t regret it. Super easy class!

Great professor, very helpful and clear. DONT miss any workshops because it counts for most of your grade. They're really easy and fun though. Midterm and final are essays but the prompt is given to you weeks in advance.

If you fail this class good luck in college. He gives so much extra credit, the midterm and final are essays he gives the prompt in the beginning of the semester. AMAZING professor

Dr. Cartwright us AMAZING! You can get by his class without reading but I really do NOT recommend you do that. If you do the readings, the workshops will be easy. Make the best use of the TA's! They are so underutalized but end up being the biggest help! Highly recommend this class, he really loves what he does and he is super cool with everyone!

I took the Mexican-American War as a Minmester. He is very easy, an easy A class. You have 18 workshops, most of which is on Top Hat, a paper, and a 5 minute presentation. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to get a block elective out of the way or is a History Major. It's an easy A. I recommend Dr. Cartwright for this class.

Super easy class. As long as you do all of your workshops you're gonna pass this class. The midterm and final prompts are given to you in the beginning of the semester. And the two papers are easy, they love creativity!

Really funny lectures, he likes history a lot and you can tell. Gives you the midterm and final essay topics in the syllabus, has clear grading criteria for essays so it's easy to get an A. if need help, speak to TA's about your essay, etc, very helpful

Cartwright made history easy, as long as you attend class and participate in the "workshops" on top hat you'll pass. only 2 essays and 2 tests. Lots of extra credit

He is the best professor I have ever had. Take this class with him and do not waste the opportunity of learning from him. Just attend to class do your writing assignments and you will pass.

Four major assignments, all essays: two take home essays, one in-class midterm and one in-class final. You'll need the textbook for essays as well as reading assignments.

Cartwright is freaking dope.,! His lectures are not boring, he is very nice and helpful.,! If you have to take History 1301 I highly recommend him.,!! You will have to write max 3 papers but they are not bad pretty legit.,!

Cartwright is a DOPE professor.! It is so easy to pass this class. You might have like 2 papers due MAX but attendance is mandatory, he gives bonus questions so you can get extra credit. There was only one major reading and you can actually listen to it on YouTube. I would so take another History class with him!!

He is an extremely helpful professor, which one can tell that he loves what he does. His class was very interesting and it applied very well to us as students. Before taking this class I had a few doubts when it came to being a teacher, but it was his class that convinced me that I was on the right path. You will learn a lot and have fun!

Professor Cartwright is everything you want out of an instructor. He provides amazing lectures, informs you on obscure details while making it engaging and funny. He is one of the best professors I have ever had. His class is easy to pass, simply by the fact that he makes it interesting. He is receptive as well, so feel free to ask for help.

Cartwright was an amazing professor. He was very clear with what he wanted and was understanding about the topics. He gave everyone chances and the male TA was very helpful. GET THIS PROFESSOR FOR HISTORY IF YOU NEED TO!

He is literally the ideal professor. Grading criteria was simple and well explained, Only 4 papers that include the midterm and final, plus daily workshops that are easy since you can always work with the people around you. extra credit just for tweeting pictures related to history. Take this professor if it will be your first semester in college.

THE BEST CHOICE! Even if you don't like history, he will make the lectures fun for you. He explains what he wants very clearly and there are always resources to help you on anything. I wish he teached 1302 so I could take him again.

He's such a fun professor. I guarantee he will make class fun. You do have to read quite a bit because you answer questions in class, and they do count for a big chunk of your grade. You will have two essays to write, but he will prepare you for them. His midterm and final are essays as well. Honestly, he's not that hard. I do recommend.

Great proffesor. He is really funny and makes the lectures so interesting. You will definitivedly learn a lot with him!! You will only have to write 4 essays, two of those are papers which you can start writing it months before it is due! How great! The other 2 is the Final and the Midterm, but you will know the prompt weeks before! Great!

Four main essays, two of them you can complete far before the due date and the other two are the midterm and final, which aren't hard as he gives you the prompt weeks before. I took this class as a transfer student and was admitted literally the second week of school . I was not aquatinted with UTEP at all, but he was understanding and worked with me to get me to a good standing in the class. 100% recommend him! He was the best professor Ive ever had!

I took Professor Cartwright this semester and I am so glad I did. You have two papers you have to complete and a midterm and final. They are all writing and actually isn't too hard if you pay attention in class and read the readings. You do need you textbooks. There are quizzes but they are easy. He is a very good professor. Totally take again.

Do the work and you'll get an A+. Put effort into the essays as they are most of the part of the grade. Dr. Cartwrigth gives amazing lectures! I do not like history but I learned a lot during this course. TAKE HISTORY with him!

As long as you show up to class and pay attention during the lectures, you'll do great! I'm not good at history, but Dr. Cartwright made everything so much more enjoyable and easy. If you have the chance, you should definitely take history with him :)

He's someone who understands how history should be taught. great guy who only wants to see his students succeed

He's a very fun professor to have, his way of teaching made me more interested in what we were learning. For the first time i felt like history was an interesting story of the past rather than a bunch of names dates and events i had to memorize. He cares mostly just about having a general understanding of what happened.

By far the best professor at UTEP, very lenient and understanding, very light coursework and makes his classes fun and interactive. You use a textbook, complete a midterm and final and have weekly workshops, as well as 2 papers that count significantly. Amazing class, definitely recommend taking, so worth it!

He gives out a lot of extra credit if you need it. And you get points just for showing up to class. There was never a boring lecture, plus he's funny too.

For once a professor that doesn't make you memorize dates and names but rather focuses on the events. You'll have 2 papers to write along with the midterm/final paper but they're not difficult, just need to prep and study for them. Weekly quizzes and in person class workshops that are easy. Amazing and funny professor that's truly passionate 10/10.

Dr. Cartwright is an extremely knowledgeable professor. He will make it clear pretty early on that although attendance isn't paramount it would benefit you to attend the lectures. You will have to write some papers but all in all it was a fun and engaging learning experience. If I could I would certainly select him as the professor again.

He has been the best professor I've had by far. He clearly loves his subject and is funny and interesting with his lectures and caring with his students. There's the weekly homework and attendance is taken by an easy class quiz. You'll have to write for some assignments and the exams but if you pay attention it's easy. Amazing lectures! 10/10

I LOVE THIS CLASS! We use an online reading program, where we have one assignment and a quizizz due every week. We have two chances to take the quiz, and he uses the best grade out of the two. In this class, there a lot of helpful documentaries. He is the kindest professor and is really understanding. I highly recommend this class and professor!!

This is how lecture classes should be! Professor Cartwright knows how to teach students and actually make them remember the content. As someone who hates history, he manages to make this class one in which you remember actual content and not just dates and locations. He also works with students and creates a great environment with many resources!
