This was a hard class for me but only because I am not interested in finance. If you buy the calulator that he recommends you should do good on his tests.
Had him for stats at CCSN. Excellent, excellent teacher. He will do whatever is necessary to help. Stays after, gives you his daytime office#, works with you however he can. I struggle w/ math/stats/finance classes, so take the recommendation highly. And he's cute to boot.
Very good looking teacher and smart. He helps students understand finance a lot easier than other professors. He will go over the calc. to solve the problems. (Nice butt)
Brad is total eyecandy that just happens to be a great teacher. He is genuinely concerned about all his students. Do take him!!?? If you can!?
Great, understanding instructor. The material is difficult and does require extra time. Do the homework examples he gives and buy the calculator he uses and you should do fine!
Hes clear and easy to understand. He will work with you to assure a passing grade. I got an A and I am not a finance or math person!
He is a great professor. He is very willing to help and tries to make Finance fun. Extremely fair when grading. Show up for review days, he will tell you what to study for the exam.
HMMMNNN He is overrated. He sure go favorism.I don't get help as much and his grading also bias. He sure is easy teacher, but it worries me about his grading system. He use different people to different grading system. Is he inexperience!!!I don't know. But make me very uncomfortable.
Hard class , but Brad is a good teacher .
I learn a lot from this class. Thanks. Definitely recomment to other students.
Class is hard because there are only 3 tests... but he goes out of his way to help you understand... pay attention from the beginning and do/understand the homework and you should be fine...
great teacher, his lectures are not boring and very interactive, me trys his best to make sure you pass the class...as long as you do your homework you will pass the class...
Great instructor for an otherwise intense subject matter. Our class met on Fridays, and since we had so many holidays, he scheduled Saturday study sessions during the end of the semester for students who needed extra help. Assigned a moderate amount of homework to cover the topics, and always went over it in class. Great adjunct professor.
The class can be tough and it's a lot of work. But he's probably the best FIN 301 teacher. He's really helpful and his lectures aren't boring because he tried to make things interesting.
Highly recommended. His class prepared me greatly for upper division finance courses. It is a challenging class and I learned a ton.
He is way too overrated!! In fact he is VERY biased!! He is only concerned with failing students. He states if students are a point away from the next grade he will round up. But, that priviledge is ONLY reserved for FAILERS!! I missed a B by 1 point!!!!! Don't believe all the niceties about him, they are not all that deserved!!
The class is definitely tough but he prepares you, and lets you know what's going to be on the tests. He wants to see everyone pass and cares about students. You can't slack off in this class or any other finance class b/c you'll end up screwing yourself. I definitely recommend him and NOT CLAURETIE!
Davies made statistics easy to learn. Everything was straight forward and simple he actually would teach and explain everything in simple terms making it very easy to understand what was going on. YOU SHOULD take this professor if you wand to pass statistics.
Mr. Davies is AWESOME! Although his tests are challenging, he covers the material in depth and helps you understand it.
Very fair, helpful and informative. Stays late to help and willing to do what ever he can to help people understand the material and get a decent grade. He was one of the best professors I have had at UNLV and I am going to take more classes with him due to his positive attitude and fairness. Excellent professor, I highly recommend him.
Good teacher, very helpful. Not sure about the other comments regarding favortism. I was definitely not a favorite. The class is not easy, it's not suppose to be. Study and ask questions and if you're a non-finance major u should at least get a C.
He's a good teacher. He makes sure you understand stats, and is willing to help when you need it. He writes the formulas on the board during tests & quizzes, so thats a big help. It was an alright class.
Prof Davies was AWESOME! The material is tough, but he teaches it in a way that's fun and understandable. He gives you examples of the problems that will be on the test (just changes the #s) He's ALWAYS willing to help (he even met w/me in MSU before the final to clear up some questions I had). One of the best prof's I have had at UNLV.
The only professor I have had who actually teaches the material. The tests are based on the homework problems and the quiz problems. If you go to class on a somewhat regular basis you will pass this class with at least a C.
The worst teacher for 261. His tests were confusing and he intentionally put trick questions on the test which he admitted. He is not very helpful and attendance is mandatory. The only class I didn't get an A in. No extra credit, hard grader, and doesn't make allowances for notes or formulas like other 261 teacher. AVOID He makes this class harder.

I really don't know what these two people bellow me are talking about. I had to withdraw from Econ 261 and take it again over the summer with Brad and I got an A. His class is super easy. He will do whatever it takes for you to understand the material. He goes over every problem in the homework and all questions on the test are based on homework.
Mr Daives is an awesome teacher... he makes Econ interesting (which is nearly impossible), barely ever keeps us the entire class time, and really cares about us learning the subject. Since he's a part time teacher he's still in tune with the real world and brings a lot to the table. Doesn't make you memorize forumlas but the tests kinda tricky.
Davies is a great stats teacher, his tests are exactly like the hw problems. Do the hw and you will do fine. I would definately recommend Davies for econ 261!
Your grade consists of your average score across the three tests. That's it. The rest is up to you. Pay attention in class and take notes and you'll probably cruise through with a B. Stats are not my favorite thing in the world and I did fine. Just get to class and do the HW. Probably the best Stats Prof on campus.
Brad is a good teacher to take for Stats. He really tries to help you pass the class. And Brad is a definite hottie, too!
Really easy teacher. He tends to just skim through the material without really explaining it in depth, basically just giving you the problems and solutions for the test. I guess thats cool if you're not a finance major and just forced to take the class. But if you are, then you wont learn anything new and fun.
Really good and helpful teacher. Do the homework and you should not have a problem. Tests are quite similar to the problems in the homework.
One of they best classes that I have taken. He is extremely fair. Do the homework and you will do fine. He is very helpful and understanding. Classes go by really quick b/c you are learning a great deal of information. I would highly suggest you take him!
very easy class. gives out homework which is same as the test problems. very flexible on grades. very easy going teacher. he writes down equations on the board for test days. easiest stat class you will ever take.
Highly recomend him, he even offer free exam review class, just do your homework and B is guaranteed,
This professor is the one to take FIN-301 from. All others will make your life miserable, its tough course but with Brad you have a chance to pass.
I took this teacher a few years ago for Stats & he was AWESOME! He understands that the material is hard, & is willing to spend as much time as possible to help you understand. If you do poorly on a test, he will allow you to go back over the missed answers for partial credit! He's awesome!!
Mr. Davies explained everything very well. You have to work at his class, not a ton but enough to understand what's going on. he gives good examples. For the tests go over the homework problems he assigned. He does like to throw a few curves on the test so be prepared and make sure you know the homework problems well! Overall a good class
He's great. The material is hard overall because it's stats, but he's great and he'll help you if you need it. You have optional hw (which you should do to study for later) and attendance isn't mandatory, but hell, you better come to get the material. You're graded on 2 tests and a final. That's it.
Professor Davies is great! Stats is an extremely hard class, but Brad tells you exactly what to expect and how to prepare for exams! He's very flexible and willing to help! Great guy I would suggest him for anyone taking econ 261...Didn't mind going to class...He's pretty hot too! :)
Great professor. Doesn't drag you down with a bunch of useless material. He teaches what you need to know. Very nice guy. I would recommend this professor.
Good teacher. Sticks to what you need to know. Real world experience gives him credibility. I had stats with him too, and was happy that he tought another one of my classes. Embraces technology. Other students who were re-taking the course indicated that prior professors would teach with slide-rules given the chance.
He was very clear when teaching the material. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you need to go in order to understand the material. Overall, a great teacher
Very good professor. Is very smart and will do anything to help you pass this class. The tests are not easy, but can be mastered by doing the homework and studying.
Brad is a good teacher but very blunt and down to earth LOL. His tests are tough, but just do the homework, ask SPECIFIC questions and this class is actually not hard at all. Do not fall behind because it will kill you to make it up. Not as easy as Poon, but overall pretty good. He actually works in the industry so that's helpful.
Davies is possibly the best professor to take for FIN 301. Although attendance is not mandatory, don't expect to pass unless you come to class regularly (get the notes from a friend for days missed)and master the homework problems. He is always willing to help in and out of class. Sadly, I heard that he might be laid off soon due to the budget cuts
although davies is a good teacher his tests are relativley hard, and his final exam was unreasonably difficult. he is a tough grader and doesn't take into consideration that many of the students are taking this class because it is required, and not because they are finance majors. homework is a must, otherwise the book is useless.
PROF. DAVIES IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST OF THE BEST! Not the easiest course, but manageable if you put effort into it. He explains step by step exactly what to do & calculator tricks to make it easier. Tests are based exactly off the assigned homework. Fair grader, personable, nice & even has a SATURDAY review class if you need extra help! TAKE HIM!
He is really cool, we will work with you to pass the class that is what matters most to him.
Davies teaches the info you need to know to pass this class. Attendance and Hmwk is not mandatory, but if you don't come to class and do the Hmwk you might as well drop the class, cause your not going to pass. He will curve tests but you have to rewrite the questions you get wrong. The best stats instructor at UNLV. 2 Midterms and a Final that is i
Davies is an excellent teacher teaching a difficult subject. The class isn't easy, but it's manageable due to his clear teaching style and real world explanations.
Prof. Davies is an awesome teacher!! The class itself is a bit difficult but he explains everything really well. He has Saturday reviews which are super helpful and really nice of him to do considering he could be golfing :) Davies knows his stuff and it was actually really cool to have a class taught by someone who is passionate about the subject
HE IS AMAZING! HE GOES THRU THE MATERIAL STEP BY STEP SO THAT STUDENTS WILL UNDERSTAND! He is very helpful, and approachable. He's very patient. His tests are a little challenging, only if you don't practice the material.
THIS IS A GREAT PROFESSOR!! This class is very tough and you should attend EVERY class because if not you're just wasting your time because he goes over every homework which is on the test! If you wanna get a good grade study the homework!! Also on the final exam study everything he TELLS you to save time! Overall Great Professor!
The best Finance teacher to take. A difficult start to finance no matter who teaches it. Do the homework or you wont make it. First test seemed to be the most difficult.
Best teacher for Stats. He knows his stuff backwards and forwards and really makes it easy to understand for students. Fair grader, but you must put in some work or as he puts it....be a student!
Great Professor, but his exams are really hard.
Hardest I have taken yet. Good professor, knows his stuff but you really have to be with it. He is a fair guy.
His tests are extremely difficult. I studied all the HW, memorized the formulas, and still feel I did not do well on his test. He is an excellent teacher, explains things well, but damn are his tests hard.
This had to have been the hardest class I have ever taken. Brad is the man though when it comes to the subject. IF YOU DO NOT STUDY/DO HOMEWORK YOU WILL FAIL! He teaches you everything that you need to know for the class. I actually thought about changing my major to finance after taking him and probably would too if he taught all the classes.
To the point with course content, teaches very clearly, exams are very fair.
He is a great teacher! Gives you everything that you need to succeed but you still have to do the homework. Attendance is not mandatory but it will help with learning the material. His explinations are better than the book and he will show you how to use you calculator functions. Plus, he is not bad to look at! :)
Pro: this is great professor for you if your major is Finance. I just finish the Final. I think it is damn hard. I think my math skill is above average but still struggling finishing the Final. I hope I will get an A for the class. I really hope so. Again, for those who are Finance major, take this guy,he will prepare you for upper finance classes
Well his tests are definitely VERY hard! This is a class you have to study a lot for. He is a great professor and I recommend him. There are other professors who actually give out formulas for exams, he doesn't. Just fyi...
Very good teacher with very hard tests. Definitely do all the homework that he gives out. He said he will be gone by Fall 2010 due to budget cuts. He is a very tough yet knowledgable professor.
He is a very good professor. Very helpful and he takes his test questions straight from the homework so go to class do the homework and you will be fine.
Great Professor! He is very clear and explains things well. Finance is really hard to begin with so you must do the homework and study. Test questions come straight from the HW.
I took him this summer. He was a very good professor, one of the best ones I've had so far. I think his tests are probably tougher than most Fin 301 professors. Final was insane. I knew all the material and hopefully got an A. Do all the homework x 4 and you will be alright. You will know EXACTLY what he is testing you on so it is up to you.
Very good teacher. Willing to help with anything that is asked of him
I love Brad. He was an excellent teacher. He really goes over problems and makes sure you understand them. His tests are based off his lectures so attend class. I got an A and I studied his homework assignments and all the lecture notes. Definitely suggest him.
Omg. Take him. I can't stress it enough. He was great. I learned so much. Go to class, take notes and do the homeworks. Tests are from lectures/homeworks. He makes it interesting and fun. TAKE DAVIES!!
TAKE DAVIES. I loved this class. Attend class, take notes, do the homework. Tests reflect homework & notes. He's fun and he really makes sure you learn. I loved this class.
Great professor! He knows what hes talking about and he strives to teach his students. Econ is hard but he makes you want to learn it. I enjoyed his class! Wish i can take him for Finance too!
5 week summer course. I was dreading this class but he makes the class interesting and bearable. No +/- grades. Do the homework. Go to class (not required but you will struggle otherwise). It was a lot of work and a lot of studying but I'm very glad I took this class. Easy if you put the work in. Highly recommend.
Brad Davies was one of the most organized professors I've had. His tests were straight to the point, and exactly like the homework. No tricks. Go to class, learn your material. Easy A.
I dreaded this class, but he is a very entertaining, extremely knowledgeable professor! The class consists of 3 tests (ONLY) so get ready to really study for those! It's not an easy class, but if you have to take Fin301, take Davies! One of the best business professors at UNLV! Also, uses real life examples, which come in handy later on.
Loved his class so much I switched my major to Finance. He is very clear and will tell you EXACTLY what to study for the test and makes difficult concepts easy. Don't take another professor for FIN 301!!!
4 tests make up grade. Prof is clear and to the point. Do hw (even though optional), take good notes, and study for exams. Book is a joke. Exams are fair; a lot of memorizing though since no notesformulas. He has review sessions so you can clear anything up. He responds quickly to emails. It doesn't hurt that he's not bad to look at.
Davies. For. President. Here is a professor than can explain quite complicated matters to students with not even one clue of what finance is in a very basic, to the point, and caring way. He is there for the student to learn. Show him you are trying to understand and he won't let you go until you do. I wish he taught more finance classes-hint4UNLV
Prof. Davies has a great system. He teaches you the material, assigns homework to practice the material, and tests on the same material. No surprises. He is always respectful and willing to answer questions. You can tell he is truly interested in teaching his students valuable, applicable skills. I wish every class was as fair and fun as this one.
There are only four exams for this class. They are all calculation problems not T/F or multiple choice. If you are good at math calculation, I recommend this class.
If he's teaching, I highly recommend Davies. He actually makes finance understandable, relevant, and FUN (what!) He explains things very well and gives you plenty of opportunities to ask questions. The tests are materials that he actually covers in class. I'm pretty sure that the main reason I did so well is because of him as a professor.
Great professor, but this is a hard class. 3 tests make up your entire grade. (Test 1 - 30%, Test 2 -30%, Test 3-Final 40%) No extra credit, No graded Homework, No attendance taken. Treats you like an adult. I strongly recommend recording lectures and doing homework multiple times as that is what the test are made up from. The teacher is amazing!
Really wondering who keeps putting the chilly pepper. Davies is a great professor but he is fast paced. This is a hard class and if you miss one class you are screwed. You have to try, take notes, and study a lot to understand the material. Whole class is based off 3 tests. So study the problems he gives you.
Davies was a great professor! I took him over Summer and was worried about the short term with a difficult class. He explained the material clearly, came prepared to each class with handouts, and allowed test corrections following exams. He was really helpful and made it obvious he cares about his students and want them to succeed.
One of the best FIN professors available. He'll make FIN concepts extremely easy to understand, and he'll show you how to use the BAII+ calculator to streamline the process. Though sometimes he jokes that he drank too much wine that night, all HW answers are uploaded at the start of the semester so students can check their work. Highly recommend!
Davies is overall a great professor. He really knows the material and it shows. We only had 3 tests, so it wasn't overwhelming. However, there are no assignments so you have to do well on the tests. If you bomb the first two tests and pass the final, you pass the class. I don't know that I would take him again, but I would consider it.
The most straight forward professor. He has 3 tests no plus, minues, assignments, group projects, nothing in that nature. I had him for summer session so it was very hectic, exam 1 and exam 2 on which he allows corrections to get partial credit, and exam 3 is combo of both. A lot of work though but I learnt a lot
Take Davies for TCA 420! I was so worried about this class, but trust me, if you have work ethic, put in the time to understand the concepts, and ask questions/take good notes, you WILL do well! Davies wants you to pass, and if you need extra help he makes himself available to students outside of lecture. 4 tests in semesters, 3 tests during summer
4 exams. Don't freak out bc the lecture HELPS a ton. He gives out HW that isn't graded but if you do it then you will do well on exams (95% of examples on HW is on exam word for word). you rly got to not try to not pass his class. Make an effort, study w/ your classmates, cry, & you'll pass. He won't fail you unless u make no effort for whole sem
Professor Davies is an excellent professor! He is very funny and makes the class fun and alive. Despite the difficult class content, he ensures that students understand the content that he is teaching. The only thing that I did not like was that his grading is only based on your exam scores. If you are not a good test taker, do not take him.
BEST professor Ive ever had hands down! Davies is such an amazing human being. He will do anything to help you understand the material and pass the class. Took him over the summer. Three exams! If you do the homework youll do just fine on the exams. I highly recommend him!
This professor didn't even try at all for the whole semester. This was supposed to be an actual synchronous class but he just said that it wasn't in the syllabus. He didn't even put videos up, it was basically a podcast where he just talked about the material for thirty minutes each. YEAH, AN ACTUAL PODCAST. I paid for a podcast.
This is an extremely tough class but professor Davies does cover the material very well and he will thoroughly teach you how to use a financial calculator (which is very necessary for success). There is no gradable homework, only two midterms and a final exam for grading. If you need help he is available and answers questions thoroughly.
Death by textbook. Only audio lectures, no assignments besides 2 mid terms and final.
Grades come from three exams. You can't see how to work on questions during the lecture. You can only hear and try to figure it out. You have to learn most of the part by working on the homework on your own. He said he is willing to help, but you have to be lucky he is available to pick up his phone that time.
