His class is great. He makes microbiology fun and enjoyable. Although his class is not easy at all, I can still get an A through studying, taking good notes and doing what he recommends his students to do. His exams r strictly from his lecture notes.

The class is very demanding but once you get past that, Dawson is there to help and isn't a bad grader. He's enthusiastic about the subject and a pretty nice guy.

Class was a lot of fun. Makes Human Biology very interesting. Tests were a little hard, but everything was straight from the lecture notes. Class is very involved in all of lectures and he is easy to get in touch with if you have questions.

He is a great and funny teacher. He makes a class that has the potential to be boring, exciting. You don't need a book because he explains everything so well. The tests are sort of hard because there are short answer questions which can be hard. He always offers extra credit on each test though.

This guy could not have been more accessible or helpful. You could see he so wanted his students to understand and be enthusiastic about the subject. Tests are fair and he gives a lot of chances for extra credit. Great teacher!

Prof. dawson is a very good teacher. He is very clear and test comes straight from his lectures. He makes the topics interesting with personal stories and jokes. He is a great techer I have taken two of his classes.

Mr. Dawsonmakes this class really funny, I took it with Mr. Dorado and droped it bc all he did was joke and flirt I re took it with Dawson and got a B online course. He is very helpful and as long as you keep up the class is easy

He is an awesome teacher! One of the best instructors I have ever had. Easy to understand and he makes the material interesting. He even had a pizza party for us at the end of the semester. GREAT.....that's all I can say!

very clear and thorough for such a difficult class. explains everything until everyone gets it, especially in lab. great guy with a great personality. expect to almost never get out early in lab and lecture.

HE IS AN EASY TEACHER TO TAKE. HE IS AN ENJOYABLE PERSON WHO LIKES TO LAUGH. WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL. TELLS YOU WHAT WILL BE ON THE TESTS SO TAKE NOTES THEY MAKE UP A GOOD PORTION OF HIS TEST QUESTIONS.

this teacher actually cares, and he goes out of his way to help you out. his tests are straightforward and from lecture notes. the book helps too. lab can be busy but they're quite simple.

Very animated and lively lectures. However, he makes you stay late after lecture.. sometimes upto 20 minutes, which is extremely rude in my opinion, because he goes off on tangents for 30 minute at a time & some people have stuff to do. Sometimes very helpful, and other times he snaps.

LOVED HIM. 1 of the funniest prof I have had. One time he had bird call music going off during exam. LOL. Take GOOD notes, go over after lec & add in notes from text, then reread. His method of teaching is very user friendly & wld take him 4 other courses. Very approachable & willing 2 write recomendations if needed, so let him get 2 know u.

Dr. Dawson was a great teacher. Even though I ended up with a C in the class, I still enjoyed it. He does a good job with discussions and presentations. If you get him started on a recent news topic related to the class at the beginning, he will go on for most of the class time about it usually.

he presents info and ideas CLEARLY. a key to doing well in his course is taking GOOD notes, covers ALL u need to know in his lectures. he's also very funny! he seemed easily able to keep students entertained & listening while teaching. the 1st time i ever took a class and had NO objections or complaints.. i really thought he's a MASTER at teaching!

He is a very a very helpful instructor and you can tell that he is very interested in the topic that he is teaching. His study guides and online chat sessions before exams are very helpful. Just show up alot, pay attention, and do the study guide. Plus he is easy on the eyes!

Great teacher! He gives you study guides, and has review sessions before each exam. He is very helpful. His lectures are interesting and he is funny. I would definitely recommend him, its not an easy class but if you study and go to class you should be able to get the grade you want.

Great teacher and funny, take him if you have to take general micro. Really cool guy but be prepared to have your soul eaten away from his lab lectures. A little bit of me died inside during those extremely long instructions

5 exams - half scantron half essay. Online lab quizzes from home. Detailed Lab notebook and identify an unknown org (not so hard after you've learned so much!) He is in the right field for sure-GREAT teacher. Very interesting class and he's a down-to-earth real person who understands student life but pulls the best out of you. I really like him.

Has 4-5 tests, LOTS OF WORK(esp. in lab), very helpful. should know chem (biochem) and bio for the first couple of tests. Lots of memorization for the last couple of test. No extra credit, but has online lab quizes that u should complete ur lab book before u do those. they should boost ur grade. Good class, interesting, gotta A

Great teacher! He explains everything clearly...tests are mainly off his notes, lectures are interesting! I always looked forward to coming to his class. He made human bio interesting for me, and taught me alot! I would take any of his classes...There is only one project, but you can choose to do it as a paper or presentation.GREAT TEACHER!!!!! :)

Dr. Dawson always gives 100% and expects the same in return. This is a challenging class but he gives you everything you need to be successful. Picky grader at times but loved his class. 5 tests (multiple choice/essay), timed online lab quizzes, must keep lab notebook and identify unknown organism. Grades on a curve which really helps!

Yay I liked this class and this professor. He is really nice. I always ran out of time for this test and his essay questions are hard (his multiple choices aren't too hard though). Writing lab notes are kinda painful and it helps to get a good lab partner. He has online lab quizzes. His test questions are sometimes unclear.

Would not recommend if you have a full-time job. Class is extremely difficult & study guides (which you have to buy at the bookstore) are not very helpful. Lecture exams are graded on a curve, but they are still ridiculously challenging. Not to mention most people always seem to run out of time.

Dr. Dawson is the best biology teacher I've ever had. He's super clear on what's going to be on the tests. Provides study guides. all quizzes are on-line. Only one research project. Only 3 homework assignments the whole semester. If you don't understand something, he's always available to help you. Overall, he's a great teacher and he makes bio fun

Micro is an interesting class and I ended up with an A. I didn't read the textbook, just studied the lecture notes. Pay attention during class. Tests were fair, although sometimes it can get long. Lab is long and difficult. Find a good partner. It'll go a long way, especially in the unknown project. =D

you have to be slightly an IDIOT not to do at least OK in this class. Dawson gives you ALL the resources you need. He even TELLS you what is on his tests via lecture notes and study guides!!!! His tests are VERY reasonable and he prepares you well for them. If you plan to be spoon fed, don't be aspiring towards ANY health profession.

...also Dawson is very organized. The labs are laborious, but very VERY organized. Those who are complaining.. I would not want you to be my nurse/PA/GP/etc.

Easiest nursing pre-req compared to anatomy and physiology..... I guesss its the way he teach. got an A in the class. Love his curves. If you dont get an A on the first exam, you're not going to get an A in his class. Best professor ever. Loved the labs. I would take this class again if I had to. I would recommend everyone to him.

Easy to take notes from. Never used the textbook since all material on the test is from his lecture notes. It's not the easiest class, but if you study hard, an A is very possible. Not a bad teacher.

Dr. Dawson is an amazing teacher. Really approachable, very good at answering emails, he's my favorite professor out of all the professors I've had for nursing pre-requisites. He gives study guides for all the exams. This is not an easy class and requires a lot of time but its not impossible. No one got a perfect score on the lab books.

He is very cool. I love his class. Got a B just because I am supper lazy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

His exams are pretty hard but I learned a lot from his class, which helped me in a lot of the classes I'm taking now. Dr. Dawson is a funny teacher and I enjoyed his class a lot. Best science professor ive ever taken. Hardest class I've ever taken in my life.

Hands down one of my favorite classes that I have ever taken. It was microbiology so of course the material was difficult, but he delivers his lectures in a very interesting manner. An A or B are obtainable but you must put the work in. You do not need to purchase the book as almost all his questions on the exams are based from his lectures.

Be ready to put a lot of hours into studying for this class. 3 tests, 1 written paper, & a couple online/open book quizzes make up your grade. Do the study guides, read the book, & attend to the online chat study groups & an A is manageable ! Loved his lectures, he makes them really entertaining. I would definitely take this class !

Very tough but fair. Never had to work as hard in undergrad or grad school as I did here. IF YOU WANT AN A, DO read the textbook line by line, DO attend lectures for extra material that may appear on exams, DO attend SI sessions, DO take notes, DO rote learning (exc for extra cred); DON'T miss class, DON'T rely just on ppt. Rewarded for your work!

The class is not easy but doable. I didn't do well at the beginning but recovered. Take good notes, don't cram, don't slack off the lab journal, you will regret it. Learned alot; he made the subject interesting and fun. Do the extra credit. The info is crucial for pt care but also our own safety in a work environment and everyday life.

Really have to work for your grade. Nearly everything on his tests, which are incredibly detailed, he mentions in class. Take really detailed notes, even on the stories he tells. Sometimes they show up on exams. Lab exams are the most difficult part of the class. Textbook was mostly supplemental. A great lecturer and really interesting to talk to.

Dr. Dawson really loves what he does. The lectures are great and has a bunch of personal/family stories to help relate the topics. Study for the test and be as thorough as possible with the short answers. He grades a little hard on the short answer. Fill out the study guides and go the the virtual office hours and you'll be fine. VERY fun class!!!

Dr. Dawson is the nicest professor I've had in college. Realize that he is extremely caring and thoughtful as well as tough and demanding. He loves helping students out, but he is really specific on exam questions. Ask him to clarify concepts and redraw/reexplain them when studying. Always review labs for exams! He's one of the best around!

Now, the exams can be difficult but make sure to attend class and organize your notes very well, and the class should be ok. There's lots of material in the exams so make sure to manage your time well!

COVID! Nicely transitioned online, still very difficult. Don't take w/ Phys. Great lecturer, pre-recorded w/ live discussion to discuss Q's. 4 Exams, 3 Lab Exams (open book), In person lab. Loved this class even if It was incredibly difficult. Expect to put in the time or fail. He makes it fun and interesting, not an easy A, but worth it.

Professor Dawson is the most dedicated professor I have had. He truly loves what he does and wants his students to succeed. He challenges his students, but he makes sure he gives them the necessary tools to make them succeed. Make sure to study his lecture notes carefully and do the study guides he offers. Study for the 4th exam EARLY!!

Micro HARD CLASS. Nice professor, don't get me wrong. Its just very difficult to get him to simplify certain topics and connect it. Exams, select all (qs) only pick what you know, he will mark u down, no half credit. U have to know your stuff. EC on exams are hard to get. No one finish his exams bc they cover too much info & he expects A LOT.

Dr. Dawson really cares about his students and wants them to be succeeded. He helps students to understand the materials and give some tips to study for exams. He makes the labs and lectures very exciting and fun. His exams are little hard especially the multiple choices for lecture exam. Lab exams are easier than lecture exams for me.

professor dawson is an amazing professor! this class is admittedly very difficult and requires a lot of studying and practice. exams are graded veryyyyy toughly. you definitely need to know your stuff. no homework, just prelab quizzes, an unknown organism project, and the lab and lecture exams. don't be afraid to ask questions!!

Very enjoyable class. Lab is fun, exams ask tough but interesting questions. Textbook is unnecessary; record lectures and take good notes, commit them to heart because you need to know it all. For lab exams, I recommend keeping a well organized list of covered bacteria, their gram test result, morphology, and key traits starting from day 1.
