He teaches very well. His style of teaching is easy to understand and he goes over the material step by step. He is willing to tutor at any given time and lenient about extra credit on tests. At first I hated this class but it improved fast. He has alot of homework but its due on test day so you have like 3 weeks to do it. He reviews for the test so those are ok. Ask questions and he will help you. sometimes he gets confused but he loves his calculator.

Mr. Lathem is AMAZING! I've never had a teacher make math so easy to understand! He's very nice, kinda has a dry sense of humor, but is still very funny. He makes practice tests, writes clear notes, and is more that willing to give you any help you need. He grades fairly and drops your lowest test grade if you miss 2 or less days of class.

Great class! Some times he goes a little fast, but he posts all his examples in class online so you can get it there if you miss something. He gives extra credit for turning in homework early. Easy grader! Overall good teacher!

He will bend over backwards to help you pass this class. He will meet with students and gives extra credit. He goes quickly but you will learn quickly. Every thing is on-line to study and you can even e-mail questions.

He is good teacher and is always making time for his students, regardless if it's his office hours or not. Sometimes he is a little scattered between his 6 different classes but that just makes his class interesting. He gives incentive for you to be in calss and do your homework early! He is very funny in a dry sence of humor kind of way!Take him!

The test is base on homework, note, and the study guide. Easy A if you study this three things before the test.

I have had a whole lot of math teachers in the past and they have made it not hard but not easy. He breaks Math formulas down to the bare. He keeps all the notes online and that is very helpful. Given the chance I will take him again.

This teacher was the best teacher I've ever had! I've never got an A on my tests before and I hated math so bad but when I was in his class, I was able to make A's! Had him for precalculus, he's an awesome instructor. Very clear teaching style and easily understood. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone. Attendance is mandatory and homework assignments come from the book. Tests are relatively easy so long you know the formulas and such required.

Professor Lathem is the easiest professor ever! I am TERRIBLE at math. I can never understand! Not only does he help you actually understand, he is VERY lenient with grading if he sees you are trying! Just show up! Work hard (or at least look like it)! and he will make sure you pass! You'll want to get in his classes. He is clear with his materials and very knowledgeable. You won't regret taking his class. He gives credit for show of work and he makes things easier to understand. + the only time you'll really need the book is for homework so there's a way to get around that

GREAT teacher,VERY helpful, and EXTREMELY clear! Math is hard but he helps clarify a lot! He made it easy and talks to you on your level not trying to be a big shot, show off like other professors! He lets you ask questions and makes sure you understand! He is very lenient on attendance which is a plus when you are an adult with a job and a kid.

Lathem was easy to follow and very thorough in answering questions. As long as you do the homework and practice tests, you'll probably at least get a B. If you have good attendance (I think 3 or fewer unexcused absences), he drops your lowest test grades. Also, don't be afraid to ask him stuff during tests. That brought my grade up a lot.

Lathem is such a good math teacher, I took him for precal and waited to take him again for calc 1. He makes everything very understandable and clear. he's an easy grader. The best possible option for MATH 1450 students, especially those who aren't mathematically oriented. He cares about student success and wants everyone to understand the material. Drove from UGA to Gainesville as a transient student twice a week to take his section.

Latham is awesome!! He's all over the place a lot (such as forgetting his pencil everyday) which makes him funny, but an amazing teacher. I never got less than a 100 on his tests and he even gives his phone number out so students can always contact him. Tests are just like the study guides too. Use the book for hw! I would recommend him to anyone!

Took Calculus over the summer semester and It was very fast paced (as usual) but Professor Lathem was a very great calculus professor and I recommend taking him. If you do your homework and turn it in the same day as the test he gives you 5 extra points and gives a lot of partial credit on exams. Overall a great professor!

Dr. Lathem is very clear in explaining the lectures to make calculus easy to understand. He goes step by step and makes sure everyone understands the problem before moving on. He also doesn't give any surprises. Very clear in what he expects you to do!

Professor Lathem is awesome. I was worried I wouldn't do too well in a calculus class in the summer since I hadn't had algebra for years, but it was a breeze. Summer sem. only had 3 tests, so not sure if it's true for all semesters, but he went over any questions we had and didn't leave you high and dry. Do homework and you'll do fine.

This professor is the prime example of what students need when it comes to math. I always struggled with math and after I took him I came to love the subject and seeing a 100 on a math exam for me was mind boggling considering my past struggles. I took precalc and calc with him and the material can be hard but he just makes it so clear.

Probably my favorite professor I have had in college. I got an A easy and never had the textbook. He gives so much partial credit that it would be hard to fail or even get a C. You could miss every question on a test and he gives partial credit for each question and you still get a B. Very nice and easy to learn from. Definitely recommend!

Always explains everything multiple ways to ensure everyone understands. Gives partial credit for test problems. Even if you get the wrong answer he won't count it wrong if you show your work.

He gives a lot of extra credit and genuinely cares whether or not you pass his class. Algebra in itself is not easy, but he made me want to know more about math. When I take trig and calculus, he'll be the professor I choose.

He walks through each problem step by step and asks for questions constantly. He really cares about making sure you know the information and gives you opportunities for extra credit. Prof. Lathem's lectures are great, if you have a question in the middle of lecture he'll walk you through it until you understand. His test questions are simple yet challenging and is quick to respond to your email if you have a question, all our homework was through our text book, and he uploads all his lectures on shared class files. This was the easiest class i have taken at UNG. He is a great teacher and is very understanding. If you turn in your homework a day early you get an extra 5 points on the test, he also puts extra credit questions on the test as well. I literally did not make a test grade lower than 100. Just show up to class and take notes.

There were 3 exams and a final which are all short answer. . He posts the powerpoint online and you can ask him to go over homework questions in class. He also drops an exam if you don't miss class and gives 5 extra points on test if you turn in your homework the day of the exam.

Very great lectures, I did not think I would like math but this professor really takes time and effort to help you understand the material. He gives good grading feedback and shows you why you missed what you did and gives credit for what is done and gives you a heads up for what will be on the test.

Do the homework assignments turn them in on test days. I have never taken calculus a day in my life before I took him. If you can solve all the homework you will be able to pass. If you show up to class your lowest grade will be dropped which is extremely helpful, and keeps you grounded if you just blank out on a test! He wants everyone to pass.

Loved Mr. Lathem so much. Kind of a strange dude, but he grows on you. He does require the textbook because all homework (which there's lots) are from the book section tests. Only 4 tests all semester and they're all short and easy, and he tells you most of what is on them. Great at explaining things and answers questions very well/does it for you!

Professors Lathem is by far one of the best math professors in the Gainesville campus. Goes through content really well and homework corresponds very well with the test. Caring and hilarious professor would recommend to take ANY math class with him. Great experience for a student that HATES math!!

Awesome professor, 2nd class I've taken with him and he's easily one of my favorites. Take him for any math! Does a wonderful job of understanding the students point of view. Also he will drop your lowest of 4 test scores at the end of the semester for not missing more than 2 classes, and if you miss more than that you'll probably fail anyway.

I am BAD at math, with the pandemic we only met once a week for one hour, which was not enough for me but he was very understanding. I had to teach myself on youtube to learn what was taught. I dont think it is a reflection on him, but for me it was extremely stressful. His tests are 10 questions and just write down whatever you know to get points.

I have taken Professor Lathem for math 1113 and 1450. He has been the best math professor that I have ever taken. He takes time to teach his lectures. At the end of class if you didnt understand the lecture he would help you out. He was always accessible outside of class. I would recommend taking him if you are taking math 1113 or math 1450.

He gives great lectures and has great handwriting and organization. He has a great personality and made my summer 8am class enjoyable. The exams were fair and H.W is straight forward. He is approachable and easy to talk to.

He is one of the only professors I've ever had that really understands and cares about the fact that students have lives outside of class!! He will give you extensions on homework if you need it and he teaches everything so well! If you wanna pass, take this professor!!!!

I wish he was my math professor for every math class. I am horrible at math but I understand everything in this class because he teaches it so well. He is funny and doesn't stress you out. He is very helpful and truly cares. Please take him if you want to easily pass and understand the material.

If you ever had a math problem explained, he would never hesitate to help work it out. He's a kind teacher who is available over email and during his office hours.

Prof Lathem was a good lecturer. Math is one of those things that is hard to make entertaining, but he always seemed to be able to. I enjoyed his class and would definitely take a class with him again. He is a very fair grader and he grades quickly.

I had Dr. Lathem for 4700, He is a great professor. In depth lectures. As long as you read the textbook in this course you should be great. He cares and makes time to help his students in the best way he can and always keeps things interesting. Would definitely take him again.

Everything discussed in class is in the homework and tests, notes are uploaded online. Class isn't boring because he works at a nice pace and is funny. The only grades are homeworks and tests. Gives extensions for homework. Instructions are always clear and you're never going to doubt yourself in this class. Would take this class again and again.

Professor Lathem was one of the nicest math teachers I ever had. I ended up not needing pre calc for my major but I really respected his willingness to help students. He went above and beyond with answering questions. He is a good teacher and relates well to students. He tells them what will be on the tests and drops lowest test grade. Take him!

He is an amazing professor.Extremely caring and wants you to succeed. I would take this professor for any math class . I rated it a 4 difficulty because I never took precalc in high school so it was new for me but if you have previous knowledge on precalc his class should be a breeze. Extremely lenient on due dates.

Professor Lathem is a great teacher. Easy-to-comprehend lessons with notes being uploaded online, quick-response time, and frequent extensions of homework. 3 tests and a final. If you have already taken pre-calculus, then this class won't be too difficult.

Mr. Lathem is awesome. Very willing to offer his help. Easy to follow him and take notes. He truly understands that math can be difficult. I took a math class last semester and failed miserably, my professor was AWFUL. I never passed one test and ultimately dropped the class. I recently made a 90 on my first test. Highly recommend

Best math class I've ever taken. Lathem is very good at explaining things; and if you don't get something at first, he's also very good at figuring out where your confusion is and helping you understand it. Regularly shows cool things that you can do with the math at hand, and is fairly enthusiastic about it in general. Great learning environment.

Professor Lathem is an amazing math teacher. His lessons are easy to understand, and he's super helpful. I found unstuck ai and the free textbook really useful for studying and preparing. Take this class if you want an A!

He was very thorough with his lectures. If you already have an understanding of the material you will do good in the class. It is easy to study for the tests and they are not very long, usually around 10 questions per test. There are 3 tests and 1 final, the final is a bit longer. Overall a good class.

Professor Lathem's class was super easy. Everything he taught in the lectures was on the test, so as long as you paid attention and took notes, you'd do great. The workload was manageable, and he was clear about what to expect. Definitely recommend his class if you're looking for a straightforward course!

He is very passionate about teaching math, and he explains everything so well (he assumes that you don't know it). The tests have 10 questions, but if you make a silly mistake he will only take a point or two off, he just wants to see you show your work. Excellent professor, and I definitely recommend.

I was terrified of taking my first math course in Uni, cause I have always struggled with math. Prof. Latham made it so much easier than I ever could've expected. He goes over everything multiple times and I always willing to stop and further explain if anyone needs it. There's a lot of homework but you get as many tries as you need 10/10 recommend

I took Lathem for MATH 1111 over the summer, and he's easily the best math professor I've had at UNG. I've always struggled with math, but he made it so much more manageable. He was incredibly helpful during office hours, going over similar problems and helping me improve my test scores. I wish he taught MATH 1113—highly recommend him!

He's an amazing professor so glad to have him as a teacher, he explains really well the material making it easy to understand. Always giving extra time if needed for emergencies. He stays after class for extra support. I would definitely would take his class again if I could!

I feel like he was born to teach. Clearest lectures of my life to be honest, ans I'm not even exaggerating, but he would go against the textbook and give us an easier way to understand problems and never made anyone feel like their questions were dumb, he made the class feel that every question is important. Awesome teacher!!!

Would recommend taking his class, before his class I always struggled with math and was super nervous starting college but his class was very easy as long as you put in the work. He's super helpful and will always offer help. He's super nice and pretty funny. He will also extend deadlines for homework if you ask.
