He's too smart to teach
My entire program hated him but in all hoenstly he wasn't that bad! He's got his own way of teaching so pay attention in class and do the exercises he assigns before class that will help you sooooo much during lectures! His exams are pretty easy since he basically tells you whats on the exam, study his ppts! Got an A in the course :)
He's really dedicated to making things clear and understandable. Open to mistakes and promotes a bigger way of thinking compared to the strict structure of other profs. Really willing to help, but lectures usually use every minute, so don't schedule a class right after his or you'll be late every time.
He's an extremely smart guy! But he doesn't write his exams, other profs write it. If you go to class midterms and finals are a joke. Overall he's nice and tries to get to know everyone of a name basis which can be good or bad!
really great professor
Makes you think. It's not just about memorizing the textbook, but he makes the class apply the concepts learned to multiple case scenarios. However, he does tend to single people out. Great Prof though!
Great Prof, helps to make you really understand the concepts. Read before you come to class that way you understand better. does single people out.
He's an okay teacher, he doesn't answer your questions properly he kind of directs it back at you and makes you think about it. He has great knowledge in the course though, and makes you think beyond what is presented and gives you a big picture..He talks a lot and lectures were really long and tiring ..
i thought he was a really great professor! He knew a lot about what he was talking about, gave real life examples and actually made students think of what to do instead of just giving the answers right away. Read the chapter before going to class. Plus, he's not too bad to look at :P
Truly a great prof!He has real world experience that he brings to the classroom and relates it to material being taught. He is extremely helpful if YOU PUT IN EFFORT....simple as that.
Great prof, focuses on case analysis. Do readings before class and attempt cases. Go to every class, missing a class will hurt you on the midterm/final.
He's actually nice to look at i'm not going to lie. He was a CFO, an accountant, and now he's a professor and he really knows what he's talking about. I like him a lot better than shapiro.
STEVE JOBS RIGHT HERE! he LOOKS like steve jobs, and he talks like him! HE'S VERY SMART! I LOVE HIS CLASS A LOT! It's always interesting. I wish he did not only teach the one hour lecture but also the 2hr breakout session! HE'S VERY HELPFUL AND NICE! AND GOOD LOOKING, i must admit! TAKE HIS CLASS! YOU'LL LOVE IT! he's got a good sense of humor. :)
He speaks/teaches out of experience. He often doesn't get to cover the whole lecture b/c speaks a lot but can't blaim him for that he gives good examples to help us understand concepts. Lectures are organized and every minutes is used. Tries to engage students in discussions. If was a bit more patient & didn't lose his coolness was better.
Very intelligent. Seriously wish he taught the breakout as well. Has real world experience which helps class apply the textbook to the real world. Wish the lecture was more than an hour as well.
Pretty good prof for lectures. He explains it well enough so that it is easy to understand. I found that it was important to ask questions, especially from someone who did not take accounting in high school. He is overall a good prof, not many complaints.
He's a good teacher and a really smart guy. Too smart to the point where the words he uses take like 5 seconds to enter the brain. He has swagger though.
Excellent Prof. Very straight to the point, has a lot of knowledge and EXPERIENCE in the accounting field. Good humor, helpful answering questions. Clear, understandable, makes class interesting. Highly recommended. Oh yea, STEVE JOBS's twin!
Don't know why everyone loves him, thought he was boring and full of himself. Would rather have the breakout session last 3 hours with julie. and who cares if he looks like Steve Jobs?
Very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience, but I learned more in the break out sessions. His lectures were ok bc it gave an overview of the chapter. But sometimes talks like a dictionary...seriously it takes awhile to comprehend his words-especially at 7pm when you just want to go home! He's a good looking for his age with swag.
Great prof, uses real life examples to clarify all concepts. I'd take him again if i had the opportunity.
Great Prof. Explains everything and is very approachable. Makes the class seem easy.
Wins:knowledgeable, smart, makes u think to get the answer yourself vs giving u answer w/o putting effort, explains concepts well, cares that students learn, goes out of his way to help out students (set up blackboard discussion)Rocks:super disciplined, too serious(gets offended when students leave in middle of lecture),could be a bit more down to earth
Knows what he's talking about. The only problem is him rushing at the end of lecture after spending the first 50 minutes on the first few slides. Makes you answer your own question by making you think and doesn't use the textbook, only clickers. Overall good prof who knows what he's doing.
He is basically hands down the sickest proff make you think outside the box which will help you think better during those tuff theory question if you had a choice to pick him i suggest you do
Gives the accounting department a breath of fresh air. Other profs I spoke to/had were no where near as good as Brad. I would say he is one of the most knowledgeable professors in the department and is always willing to help. Makes accounting very interesting.
Probably the best prof you'll ever have
I was quite impressed by the level of expertise and teaching quality of Brad MacMaster. Truth be told, I didn't expect to be taught by the professor of such a level at Ryerson University. This professor is a role model for me in a way of his thinking and speaking. He is very inspiring man.

Very clear. Lectures were well organized and easy to understand. It was like being in an accounting immersion class where he'll only speak accountant to you and then you start to get it.
Excellent prof. You can tell that he brings a lot of personal experience to supplement his lectures. Knows what he's talking about and how to explain concepts clearly. Take ACC with him if you can.
Amazing prof. Makes you think outside the box. Has a lot of experiences and discusses them while teaching so it makes accounting easier and more understandable.
One of the best professors at Ryerson. If you're going into accounting, he's someone to look up to. He definitely knows the material and he explains everything clearly. I enjoyed his class.
Very boring and unclear. speaks way to fast while racing through his powerpoints. Very hard marker class average was very low.
His class is pretty boring
Mostly everybody did horrible on the midterm and final. Seems very knowledgeable of accounting but his teaching style was not for me. Very unclear to me.
A good prof. Has clear expectations. Show up to class and listen to him. Do all the work that is given to you. I had trouble in his class because I didn't do the work but my friends who also had him did fine because they showed up to class. The exam is tough so be really prepared for it. overall he's a good prof just the tests are difficult.
He's smart, but unless you're an acc/fin mjr, you'll have a hard time following his lectures. I had his one-hour intro to acc lecture and he rushed through lessons and never finished them. Always came to class 10-20 minutes late and was always in a rush to leave. He refused to answer students' questions in class because he didn't have "time".
Brad is great. Although his classes can get boring and he often loses track of time during lectures, he is very knowledgeable and helpful in the field of accounting. If you're new to the subject you will need to put the time in outside of school, try meeting with him during office hours and hell make very effort to help you succeed.
Brad was an excellent prof- helpful and personable. I recommend not skipping- the course requires you to do the work and read the chapters ahead of the class and work to understand the material (it isn't a bird course so don't expect to be spoon fed). But Brad tries really hard to make it clear! Also- really enjoyed his sock choices.
Brad is teaching cases for the first year. Was not clear in material taught and marking scheme was not reflective of student knowledge. Explained issue of key facts only after all students got wrong on testing. Case 2 was far too long for the 45 minutes testing allotted in classes, required to analyze 7 issues in depth!! Class mean = approx. 40%
Great prof, definitely knows what he is talking about. Can be very intimidating but nice guy. Straight forward and will be honest, but this helps push students to succeed. Overall, worth taking his classes.
I know I am only a first year undergraduate student but Bradley Macmaster is one of the most interesting man I have ever met. He really does his best to start student think critically. Can be a bit intimidating because of his stunning confidence but overall he is perhaps the best thing that ever happened to Ryerson Accounting. A MUST CATCH.
Not very helpful, he's knowledgeable about accounting but doesn't teach well, just speaks really quickly without explaining much. His lectures always started with him saying 'we won't have time to get through everything' so he hardly went into detail, making it hard to understand.
This prof is the best. He explains you the concept really well. There are lots of case studies to do. So come prepared. If you don't read, you will suffer. Its not really easy this course but he makes it really understandable. There are lots of help he offers, so take when you have the chance.that he gives away Take him. Recommend it.
He was my breakout instructor for ACC 110. If you want clicker grades, attendance is mandatory both here and in the lecture sessions. His lectures were clear and his lectures on case analysis were really helpful for the exam and case assignments. Just come to class prepared, read the required text, and participate. You'll love him!
Amazing professor!!! Helpful, kind, and very interesting! He does a very good job explaining the material. He always responds to emails quickly and answers questions clearly in class. DON'T GO WITH ANYONE ELSE!!!
Boring prof and gives minimal marks on cases. Only helped us with our cases, AFTER half the class failed. The only point of going to class is for clicker marks.
Self-absorbed, but knowledgeable. Not an awful professor but a difficult class.
Brad is an extremely articulate and knowledgeable person. His case lectures are particularly interesting, he tries to get students to apply themselves in front of their peers. Challenge yourself and speak in front of the class, and even challenge his answer. He is a hard marker so be prepared to learn from your mistakes.
Hes a very straight up kind of guy and will tell you whats on his mind but he is very helpful what you have to do to succeed in this course is provide what hes looking for on the cases and thats pretty much all to it. Hes successful in the accounting Industry and he knows his stuff.
Really smart guy. He's been a CFO of many companies so he really knows his stuff. Teaches really well, well organized, and really articulate. However, he can be a bit scary at time. Puts students on the spot. Get an answer right, great, get it wrong, he will remember and come back to you many many times.
He is a great prof, and he always talks about his personal experiences during his lectures which makes them so much easier to understand. He can really teach and has A LOT of experience in the field.
Great teacher! He always thoroughly explains material and will review if the class is struggling. He is very encouraging and brings enthusiasm to keep the class engaged. He makes an effort to learn students names and is easily approachable. If you go to his class you will definitely understand the course better. Make sure you use your textbook!
Recommended. Clear, precise, knowledgeable, and very helpful. He will answer any questions you have and will teach you everything you need to know and make sure you understand it. Textbook usage is a must in this course, and study/practice hard for the exams. He will also help you with homework. No tricks.
He is extremely knowledgeable and very qualified to teach this course. However, if you do not plan to major in accounting and didnt take accounting in high school, avoid Brad. He goes TOO fast. Keep up every week and do the practice questions. if you dont study like crazy, be prepared to fail.
McMaster is such a inspiring and knowledgeable man. His expertise is incredibly high because of his number of years in the business environment, and so he incorporates real world examples that he easily connects to the course content. He mentioned before he was the CEO of Kelseys a few years back and he does not in any way try to intimidate.
Very smart prof. Very lecture oriented. His exam was hard, the midterm was easy. Anyone taking his course, prepare to study a much as possible for the midterms as they are easy marks in comparison to the exam. Focus primarily on the last half of the book for the exam.
This guy is in love with the sound of his own voice. Very conceited. You better make sure your answers are in line with his arbitrary beliefs about how accounting should work
Brad is a very knowledge professor in this subject. He has worked in the industry and is very passionate about the subject. He works very quickly so it's best if you are able to keep up with the online portions as well as the readings and homework. Accounting isn't a hard subject but if you slack you will fall behind.
He is super intelligent, and will gladly help you if you reach out. If you try to understand, he will help you succeed! Ask many questions!
Honestly, he takes the first year course much too seriously. The midterm is fair, however the final exam is incredibly hard in comparison to the examples that are in the book. Overall i don't think he adequately prepares anyone for the final unless you go see him after hours with numerous questions.
Goes through material class, but is definitely amazing to look at!
Very good professor, knowledgeable, experienced and always keeps his lectures focused on the central theme of chapter. I would definitely recommend him to anyone. If you're willing to put in the necessary work, you'll get an A.
It was a pleasure to be in his class. I had the opportunity to learn introductory financial accounting with enthusiasm and interest. He is extremely knowledgable and always available to answer any questions even if he has to stay in class later than he is required. Once again, it was a pleasure to be part of his lectures.
Excellent Professor with vast knowledge of ACC. His use of real-world eg's helped grasp the material. He even stayed late after class to answer any Q's. Having no previous knowledge of ACC, he sparked my interest&enthusiasm in the subject, enabling me to achieve a high grade. Hence, if you put effort into practicing and studying, you'll get an A!
This class is flipped so it's pretty horrible right off the bat. But this prof does not make it any better. He thinks very highly of himself and shows it. He spends a ridiculous amount of time explaining how he does mental math and takes a solid 5 minutes to answer an easy question. Some people like him, but I certainly didn't.
He knows his stuff. Answers your questions by asking you questions and making you figure it out yourself. Doesn't want you to memorize but to know and understand the material and apply to situations.
Very knowledgeable. Gives clear, detailed explanations of course concepts. Flipped class format is very intensive. Plan on spending over 5h on audiofiles every week. Can't pass without audiofiles, but can still do very well without reading the textbook. Bit of wasted classroom time with presentations about stuff Brad explains better than students.
Brad isn't one to coddle, so don't expect easy passes. He respects intelligence and hard work and is quick to recognize people who make the effort to learn the concepts. He cares about the subject and the students, so he expects the same from them. I thought his bluntness was refreshing. If you act like an adult, he'll treat you like one.
The flipped format is not a choice made by the professor, and Brad does his absolute best within the form. The content can be difficult but he really helps you understand it. He is very accessible outside of class and tries unique things to make sure students succeed. I would highly recommend taking finance with this prof.
Brad knows his stuff and is a brilliant professor. He won't directly answer your questions but will make you answer it yourself by asking you questions. Doesn't want you to memorize but to actually learn and know the stuff. I came out of it knowing the material, but I studied for months to be able to pass.

FIN305 is a big course with lot of content. Flipped format means large time commitment outside of class + demos & group work in class. Brad does a much better job within these confines than most other profs. He is clearly knowledgable, extremely articulate, and bluntly cares about your success. This course works because of Brad's effectiveness.
Unfortunately, Prof. McMaster was tasked with attempting to articulate complicated material to a cohort of students not necessarily mathematically inclined. Despite that, he was sincerely dedicated to the individual success of the students & genuinely wanted to teach us core skills. He would not only explain the concept, but why it mattered.
Everyone hated FIN305 (it was mandatory) so automatically a lot of people disliked MacMaster, but he really tried hard to make sure we were comfortable with the material. He was more than happy to meet with me and go through my quizzes to tell me where I went wrong so I could know how to improve for the exam
Even if finance and accounting are not your strong suit, you'll mange to do well long as you put in work. He was very determined for us to get good grades as he truly cares about student's success and makes sure to meet whenever needed. He motivates students, and is very patient. This professor taught us a lot about FIN and ourselves.
Brad MacMaster isn't what students fear, it's the subject. It's by no means easy - you have to work for every percent you earn in that class - but I will say it has been the most rewarding class that I've ever taken. Brad understands the fear and anxiety students have over this class, but he has shown time and time again his willingness to help.
Thought about jumping from my building floor every day until the semester was over. Awful professor. Not an educator - simply an instructor. Just take Acc 110 if you can. You'll learn something in the other course.
It isn't until you take other accounting courses that you realize that everything that you've learned in this course is useless. If you want to pass this course just do exactly as he says and don't leave room for interpretation. Then, if you're able to take another accounting course with a different professor to actually learn something useful.
Worst prof at Ryerson DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES IF YOU WANT YOUR UNIVERSITY DEGREE
Worst prof you will ever come by at Ryerson. He does not TEACH, rather makes students do group work. He claims he does not want to coddle us but does no realize most CI students have no done anything math related in years, we need more help. He is also just RUDE, makes me want to learn less. So many other prof's at Ryerson, he's not one of them.
Brad is one of those prof's who make multiple choice questions A,B,C,D,E and one is all of the above, and the another answer is some of the above. Basically, he makes things harder than they have to be. He puts in little tricks to throw you off and claims that students fear accounting, when in reality, they fear him. Don't recommend him at all.
I actually shed tears in his class because not only are the concepts hard (especially for creative students to grasp), but he is also just straight up rude. I really think he needs one of those teaching markers, because I don't understand how he has taught 4 years of students. He DOES NOT teach, and his "office hours" are 1.5 hours a week..
I don't how Brad got a 3.8 overall rating. If you go to any of his ACC340 classes, even you would rate him a 0.3. He is rude and does not have openly accessible hours to meet him for help. And granted, when you ask for help, you won't get any anyways, so I guess it actually doesn't matter. I wish he took a look at the reviews and started teaching.
Brad is the kind of Prof that gets mad at you for not understanding material, making it so you don't ever want to ask him for help. He gets so frustrated when we don't understand the material, calls people out in class and makes them feel stupid when they don't know the answer, creating an uncomfortable, stressful ineffective learning environment.
The worst prof, he asks students questions and wants such a specific answer. He makes up his own accounting concepts called "blocks" and gets mad when you can't understand it.
While a great class in theory, fails to be an accessible platform to the students it is meant to serve. For example, the audio visual files, required viewing of over an hour at least every week, does not come with subtitles. The prof themself encourages participation but may appear as demeaning if you show unsurety with content.
Great course- lots of work so be prepared to work but definitely one of my favourite classes i've taken! super useful information. Get on track with work early so it is not too difficult in the end.
This class requires you to put in a lot of work, but Brad is a great prof who really cares about your understanding of the content. It is a flipped format, meaning that there are weekly audio files to keep up with, and you are assessed on your knowledge through weekly quizzes. Attendance is necessary, as there are in-class group assignments.

Brad is really knowledgable about the content, and works hard to ensure that you really understand stuff! It's definitely difficult content, and there are a lot of audio files to keep up with, so you need to stay on top of the workload. Lectures are mandatory because there are in class assignments.
Pre-midterm I wasn't putting in the necessary work to do well (you really need to do the A/V files and keep up with the material). I ended up failing the midterm, but Brad was realistic and blunt with me about what I needed to do to pass. After this reality check, I worked to understand the material and got a 90 on the final - YOU CAN DO IT!
I really enjoyed Brad's class. Sometimes the audio files are tiring, but I feel like I actually learned something! The content is quite simple and the focus for this class is *not* on math but on fundamental business ideas. He goes out of his way to offer learning support when you are struggling. Despite any negative reviews, Brad cares a lot.
Fair tests. Lectures are used to cement knowledge from audio files with group work, and to go over quizzes. People freak out over the idea of math and heavy course load, but it's manageable. Use time management and the help Brad offers. He gets you to think about what you're learning, not just memorize it.
This is the only class in my entire time here at Ryerson that has actually made me learn. All of the other courses came so easily to me because they required no work, whereas this course does. He may come across as blunt and rough but he just really wants his students to learn. Thanks for being the only prof to actually make me learn Brad.
This course really makes you work for it. Good grades dont come easy and you really have to spend time learning the material, but Brad actually cares about making sure students learn. Hes really knowledgeable with concepts.
ACC340 is designed to educate students on becoming financially literate. It is a difficult and packed course that requires a lot of work and dedication to do well in. Brad acknowledges students who participate and try to understand the course material, as well as provides good feedback on your effort. The class is quite the experience, but worth it
WORST PROF AT RYERSON, I FEEL SO BAD FOR ANYONE IN CRI THAT HAS TO TAKE ACC340.
Brad is the worst prof you can ever get. He is terrible, mean and scary. Good luck sisters
doesn't lecture just get in to your groups and do the group assignment which is out of 4 marks so you either get 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. doesnt use the text book properly. you cant learn properly in his class.
Brad cares about his students and has a passion for teaching/encouraging students to really work hard. He focuses on the conceptual framework to develop your professional and critical thinking (which makes accounting so fascinating!!), instead of memorizing the whole textbook. His exams are more than fair with bonus marks and AMAZING feedbacks!
He is a decent professor that makes you earn every grade. There are probably many students that give him a bad rating because they did not put in the required effort to do well. None of the classes he teaches are easy, it's accounting after all. He breaks down the course much better than the other prof which leaves room for error. Tough but fair.
This guy is amazing, he is the most intense professor I have had to date. Once he has confused the class he keeps on trucking and ignores and dodges questions. I love this guy. He words things extremely confusing and speaks fast and does not repeat anything. His tests and assignments are marked inconsistently and unfairly. He is the man
I thought the grading criteria was decent until I received the final mark. They marked the final really hard. Also, he does not really teach, he makes you do group projects that consist of textbook questions which is actually really good practise. I wish he taught more, however, doing group projects is a different way to study accounting.
A great professor who genuinely wants his students to learn and understand the course contexts and application to real-life scenarios. There were individual and group assignments that you have to commit to in order to "earn" your grade. Lots of material to digest. Kept the class engaged.
A great professor who wants his students to learn and understand the course contents while incorporating materials to real-life scenarios. There were individual and group assignments that you have to commit to in order to "earn" your grade. Lots of material to digest. Kept the class engaged.
Not much time was spent teaching material, you do practice questions in class for marks. Time spent lecturing was focused on the real world application and the "why" behind everything which is really more useful. He is very direct, if you ask a stupid question you will know it. Tough but you'll end up knowing more than if you took another prof.
Brad used group assignments as the means to teach his class. Hard to learn when you have to do learn everything yourself. Tests are difficult and require intense amounts of studying/reading.
Dont make eye contact unless you know the answer. Tests include material outside the text book.
if the class average is consistently in the 50s and low 60s maybe it has more to do with the profs teaching style than to do with the students horrible at answering questions and makes you feel bad for not understanding content, would literally rather eat glass than take his class again :/
The most intimdating and unhelpful professor i have ever had. He singles students out in class and makes them feel stupid when they don't know the answer. You have to teach yourself all the difficult content at home, and in class he doesn't teach- its all group work. If students are getting a 30% average in his weekly quizzes he should get a clue
would rather call the entire class lazy and make them feel bad than admit that his teaching method is horrible. have to teach yourself the concepts only to come into class and have him make you feel dumb if you have any questions.
i come to class and leave feeling like the world's dumbest baby. doesn't seem to make an effort to make his students feel motivated to learn, have seen peers brought to tears! - doesn't make past quizzes available on D2L - doesn't make past group projects available on D2L - doesn't go over the 3 hours of online modules in class
This professor does not teach. Hardly any of the course material is taught during lecture time - you are required to watch 3-7 hours of video content during the week and teach yourself the material that he should be teaching you. He does not respond well to questions, and constantly makes errors in the quizzes. Take this course with another prof.
It's fair that there isnt much lecture in class - this is due to the class format, which isnt up to the prof. Lectures are digital AV files & class time is devoted to group projects which are apply lecture content. It's a hard class due to the sheer amount of content and how it all snowballs. Brad is readily available for 1-on-1 help if you ask.
Brad is one of my favourite professors to date. Even though you're expected to watch A/V files prior to coming to class, it challenges you to learn and thoroughly understand the material with his guidance. Not only is he always ready to help, but this class has prepared me well beyond just school with how to successfully conduct financial analysis.
The reviews scared me before taking this course, but they shouldn't those people who are complaining are not trying hard enough and should make use of all his resources. He has office hours no one uses, extra sessions and can even match you with a TA to tutor you. He's a nice guy not his fault the course materials are hard.
It is really frustrating spending class time taking up quizzes that feature errors almost weekly and having to do all of our learning ourselves from stale videos that we need to watch outside of class (can be up to 6 hours per week). I don't find Brad easy to talk to which makes approaching him for help even harder, he can be condescending. Not fun
This class has been really frustrating to take. His teaching style is problematic on a million levels. His answer to questions most of the time is that it is "intuitive", and that it's 'common sense'- which implies a certain set of (aka his) ideologies and subjectivities as the basis for the course. He belittles people and is condescending.
Straight away he says that the course is worth 1.5 courses of work load, and yet it's only worth 1 credit. If we're talking accounting then it should be a pretty simple 'balance': 1 credit 1 course load of work.
Belittles his students to the point where I find him way too intimidating to go ask for any extra help. He doesn't even teach in the three hour lecture except for going over the weekly quizzes where the class average is 30-50%. The rest of the class is group work which is not helpful when you don't know whats going on and can't participate.
I could write a 5000 word essay on the things Brad does that makes this course a nightmare. He is extremely condescending and will make you feel stupid in front of the whole class. There even was an incident where he actually yelled back at a student for getting frustrated that he wasnt understanding the concepts... Unprofessional.
He packs this course with way too much content than its worth. Barely teaches. He describes how difficult this course is, yet 90% of the content is self-taught through a series of videos that can last up to 7hrs every week. So if you dont understand something youre screwed. Dont bother asking for help unless you want him to make you feel stupid.
I have never been more frustrated. Having 7-8 hours of audio files a week, teaching ourselves the material, on top of the class being 2 course loads worth has left me with no time to focus on other classes. Brad is often rude and condescending with students, and we are left feeling hopeless. This course is in drastic need of a new professor/update
Brad is hands down the worst prof I've ever had. He belittles students when they ask questions which makes all of us incredibly anxious in class. His quizzes were worded to intentionally trick us and he would not allow us to know which questions we got wrong, which made them seem pointless, especially. 10/10 would not recommend!
This course is poorly structured, and testing is not a true testament of your understanding of the material. You're barely given enough time to finish the group projects and exams. Brad is also rude, often demoralizing, and refuses to see the possibility that maybe the structure of the course is poor. He tenured tho so good luck try not to cry
I found the prof intimidating at first but I forced myself to approach him.I can now say that he is very friendly and helpful and when people say he is being condescending it's actually him trying to challenge you.I believe the real danger is coming into this class with the mentality that it's going to be awful. If you put the work in, it's fine.
Brad calls on students and humiliates them in front of the class if they don't know the answer. He even yelled and swore at the proctors during our exam. Besides that, there is an absurd amount of material packed into this course and he isn't interested in helping those that aren't able to grasp concepts. Worst course I've ever taken. good luck!!
egotistical, rude, disrespectful. clearly knows everything about the subject and expects other people to as well without helping anyone left behind. belittles people in class who struggle with a question he asks. weekly quizzes filled with trick questions intended to make it hard for you to understand rather than actually test your learning. AWFUL!
This is an intense class with a lot of material. You NEED to put in the work. The A/V files can be annoying to watch (recommend to speed them up) and the ICE activities are stressful but overall I can say that after this course I can understand a lot more financial statements/terms which has surprisingly helped me at work and in my passion project.
Though Brad may seem unapproachable he will put in the effort to help you if he sees that you are putting in the effort in the class. I only ended up going to his office hours in the last week and they were really helpful. Should have taken more of an advantage of them. Ask for feedback on assignments and tests if you do not get the evaluation.
Brads videos and quizzes are littered with mistakes. The class is flipped format so you have to teach it to yourself while taking another 5 courses as part of CRI. Its the most intense class Ive ever taken, also the worst structured and the rudest prof Ive ever encountered. This class will ruin your GPA and be detrimental to ur mental health.
Reluctant to help you out and hard to get feedback on what you're doing wrong. The course is only taught by him. I think the Creative Industries board should get someone else to teach this course.
The course was hard and Professor MacMaster is not to blame for that. His style of teaching may be disliked by a lot, but I feel like his teaching method, which has an emphasis on self-learning, is beneficial for students in the long-run and a taste of real life. All the information you need to ace the exams is in the videos so take notes!!
He belittled his students and wanted them to fail. He constantly defends his teaching style and his course but flipped-learning aint it!
EVERY complaint is true Brad's condescending, demeaning, unstructured, he tries to trick you in class/on assessments he doesn't care about you succeeding the course is a game where all you can do is try and understand the structure of his quizzes and not attract attention to yourself. The most unprofessional prof I've ever had. Awful.
Professor MacMaster is one of my favourite professors at Ryerson. He made Financial Statement Analysis & Valuations course engaging and provided plenty of real world examples from his personal work experience. His slides were very clear and super easy to follow. He is deeply passionate about finance and is always very helpful if you have questions.
This class was challenging yet I have learned SO much! Prof is strict yet very knowledgable! I recommend going to office hours if you need extra help. Do the work (you need to put in the hours listening to the audio files and doing practice questions) and you will pass/do well.
He may come off as condescending sometimes, but that's only a result of some students not putting in the effort or being engaged in class. The work load is incredibly overwhelming but he's honest about it. If you want to apply yourself and actually learn the material, Brad is your guy, just be prepared to put in an immense amount of time and effort
Dont let the good reviews fool you, have heard from several students that he bribes those looking for extra credit into giving him good reviews here! Aside from the several extra hours of online lectures weekly, have witnessed him use slurs and demean students for not immediately understanding material. Dont take this class if you can avoid it
Although a bit intimidating at first, go to Brad's office hours he really cares about his student's success and can be super helpful. I had health issues and he was amazingly accommodating. You definitely have to put in the work (even though the AV files can be time-consuming) but ended up way more confident in my finance skills and understanding!
Important information to know, however not taught correctly. The classroom environment was scary, and uncomfortable as Brad was condescending and rude to students who couldn't follow or needed help. This class had potential, and most students in the class were ready to learn, but Brad was not ready to teach accounting at the basic levels needed.
The most DISRESPECTFUL professor I've ever had. Constantly rude to students and goes over class time (online). Allocates marks on midterms and finals to things he says specifically NOT TO DO. Unfair grading schemes, very hard marker. Always marks hard on participation (unless you answer every question, good luck getting 100 on that).
He emphasizes the importance of professional value added but did not provide any in this course. He would always go at least an hour over class time. He is very rude to students and never answers any questions that are asked. A different prof should be chosen to teach this course so that they can get their money's worth from the course.
idk how this man's rating is even at 3.4, something tells me he's messing with his score because he isn't even a 1 star prof to be honest. EXTREMELY disrespectful, very condescending, unhelpful and unapproachable. I genuinely tried my best in this course because I didn't want to end up retaking it and suffering through his "teaching" again.
PSA: don't believe the majority of the good reviews on here, Brad bribes students with extra good marks to boost their grade in exchange for a false positive review. I'm wishing all you Creative Industries students good luck with him, because there literally is no alternative prof to this required course. (Probably gonna have ptsd after)
Brad is not a professor I respect, he is a mean, condescending, person to anyone who doesn't answer his questions in less than half a second. He does not teach course material, you read the chapter each week and then come to class to do a group assignment for 3 hours. He answers student's questions with questions. He literally adds zero value. RUN
Quite honestly, the worst prof I have experienced at Ryerson. After our entire class collectively voiced our concern for his demeaning, and inconsiderate way of teaching, he created a poll, asking us what we could improve on. After completing the poll, he essentially told us we were wrong, and changed extremely tiny details. Disappointing, and sad.
Absolutely the worst prof I've ever had. Doesn't take student opinions into consideration, extremely rude, plus the flipped course format just makes everything worse. What's the point of watching 3 hours of prerecorded lecture AND THEN attending another 3 hours of lecture?? I'm so sorry to all the CRI kids who need to take this, good luck.
Brad is a brilliant man and a strong accountant. However, as a professor he lacks the communication and emotional intelligence to effectively teach a course. Brad should take the time to improve his own professional communication skills to efficiently help students learn such an important topic as he has the potential to be a great business mentor.
He's the most insolant condescending professor I've ever had. Along with not accommodating students and beign ableist beyond belief, this class will surely make you question if walking across the stage is really worth it.
The class is just him building Excell spreadsheets, using an advanced technique that is not functional for an average student. Says student spreadsheets don't need to be as advanced as his but then only teaches advanced techniques. Every course concept is taught in 3-hour videos to be watched before class but he refuses to record the Excell lesson.
One of the worst experiences I have had in a class at ryerson. Very inconsiderate, very hard marker. The class is already difficult enough, the teaching style does not help.
Brad MacMaster is the rudest and inconsiderate professor I have ever experienced at Ryerson University. He is not helpful and excepts students to teach themselves. The amount of work you have to put in this course to pass (not get a good grade, just pass) is equivalent to a part-time job. The administration has failed students by protecting him.
Brad's a great professor, he may seem like he doesn't care but he does. He is very direct and says things as they are. I can say he made better prepared for third and forth year. Just come to class and you'll do fine. His exams are REALLY easy.
He says students have the learn the material themselves, and they can ask him clarification questions. However, when you ask him anything, he dismisses you and tells you to look back into the AV files. He tests you on material that is not present in any course material, but he states students should complete it if they apply "critical thinking".
DO NOT TAKE! Worst class I have EVER taken! - Prof told us to tell him about class issues. When did, he would tell us he would not change anything. - Boasted about how hard the class is, made it a point to claim 1 year had 50% pass - Class requires OVER 9 HOURS of work per week. 3hr lecture,3hr online vid, readings, group work). - Rude & dismissive
The worst prof ever. Easily annoyed by students who require further explanation on harder-to-grasp concepts. He will never earn my respect. Steer clear of him.
So bad, so so so bad, please get this guy out horrible prof, doesnt like to explain, extremely rude, its made me hate financial management (which i was looking forward to). Disappointed.
idk if brad became a prof just to add it to his resume or something because teaching is definitely NOT this man's calling. all the bad reviews about him are TRUE. made my anxiety and stress level skyrocket just by the way he would demean students for getting confused in class. good luck.
Brad is extremely disrespectful towards students, incredibly tough, doesn't care what you have to say, and expects students to know accounting before they take the class. Really can't say enough bad things.
Professor Macmaster is a well-respected prof who makes sure you understand the content! Accounting itself is tough and challenging, but I believe the material he introduces is super useful. Make sure to stay on top each week before moving forwards and if you take the time to study and positively embrace the concepts you will do great!
This professor tries very hard to by like Else but the truth is, students, do not respect him 1/10 as her because his teaching style is sub-par. He is extremely rude and does not care for students but he gives out 3+ assignments per week.
He spends half the showing off he was CFO at 7 different companies and the other giving philosophical lessons on the importance of accounting. This course is a nightmare, avoid this guy at all cost. He does not teach anything and expects students to learn before class. During class, we are given in-class assignments.
He doesnt knw how to explain. expects students to knw everything
By far the most arrogant and disrespectful professor i've seen. Does not teach whatsoever, just expects students to be at CPA level and don't dare ask him a question. He is disrespectful in the way he approaches students questions, as if we should know the answer and we are unintelligent if we don't. Do not take brad if possible.
Worst prof ever, wants midterm to Be done in a specific way, file names. 3 separate drop boxes to submit for midterm. Arrogant and disrespectful. Has 0 care for students and if D2l crashes, does not care at all. Doesn't teach anything in class, talks a little and sends us to breakout rooms to do In class exercises. Very unorganized overall.
Any rating above a 1.0 is a lie. Avoid taking AFA400 with MacMaster at all costs!
Worst Prof I had at Ryerson. He doesn't teach and expects you to know it already. He is very intelligent but he is a bad professor. This class could be a lot easier if it's another prof. Avoid him at all costs. If he is the only Prof take it another semester. That's your best shot at graduating.
Doesn't teach anything in class and is just a very bad prof overall. He really makes me not want to take accounting because of how bad he is in teaching students. Avoid him when you can and thank urself.
I honestly cannot say one good thing about this professor. Professor MacMaster does not teach you at all. He is also very demeaning, rude and sarcastic with his students. The midterm average was under a 55% and he was happy with those poor results. I HIGHLY SUGGEST AVOIDING MACMASTER AT ALL COSTS. Easily the worst professor I have had.
Words cannot describe how painful it is to take this course with this prof. Why in the world is he teaching when all he does is put us in a group to do assignments for more than half of the class? Case tests were a joke, changing the variables of a conflict at the last 30 minutes? Thanks now I need to redo a third of my work now.
He is very knowledgeable but also rude, condescending, and does not care about his students at all. He easily gets short-tempered when answering questions (if he even does). Take him if you can handle bad personalities. Otherwise, avoid him at all costs!
The worst teaching experience of my degree, I've never had an accounting/biz prof be so condescending and disrespectful. This is not limited to his students, he yelled at our exam proctor and made a scene in front of the entire class, definitely avoid at all costs.
Brad is not a good professor. The whole lecture time he just shows u in ur groups to submit homework that is graded. When he does go over the slides he very casually just speaks as if everyone is on the same page as this man. He carries a massive ego and does he do the marking himself. Should have never went into education
Worst prof Ive had in my life. Makes you do so much unnecessary work for a little portion of your grade. Doesnt teach and expects us to know everything. Exams are based on content from a different dimension. I wouldnt even want my worst enemy to have this guy. I can keep talking about how horrible he is but RMP doesnt give enough characters...
Brad is knowledgeable. However, all he does is go over a few slides in class for 30 mins. Afterwards, we all get sent to a breakout room to work on stuff we haven't even learnt. Expects us to know everything, got a headache after every class. Had to do a quiz before class, assignment in class, assignment after class & I still didn't learn ANYTHING!
Extremlyyy tough grader, doesn't even teach, just expects students to read textbook and learn. In class talks to fast for 30 mins the remaining time put into break out groups. Fine, if the prof decides how the course goes don't mark so hard my guy on the midterms, case studies and final. #BETTERBEABELLCURVE #SAVEYOURGPA #COMEONBRADWYDMAN
Don't go to his class. Drop it and take it with another professor. Bradley is the worst professor at Ryerson. The rating above 1 is all lies. He is smart. But not fit to teach. It's way too much work with such a hard grading level.
Worst prof ever, I am a straight A student and work really hard but he has high expectations that aren't even consistent with the textbook. Only homework, assignments, quizzes without ANY proper lesson. Tests you on the randomest stuff and not worth the GPA drop. GOOD LUCK if you have him and be prepared to teach yourself!
Very rude, doesn't help, bad grading criteria, doesn't teach, should not teach. If I could rate him 0 I would.
Professor MacMaster is a very tough grader. His examinations are designed to stress students out and fail. Any rating above a 1.0 is not true. AFA 400 with MacMaster was a nightmare. Do not take AFA 400 with MacMaster. He barely teaches and you essentially are left to teach yourself. Not sure how he was hired to become a prof at SAF. Shameful .....
I'm hoping there's a bellcurve.
He is probably one of the toughest markers and test makers I have ever had. Luckily for the case and the homework he allows you to work in groups and gives good feedback on what he wants to see. But regarding the midterm and finals his marking style is very tough. I just barely was able to make it out of this course.
Brad is the kind of professor who leaves you speechless. Never knew that all it took to be a professor was to get on a zoom call once a week and brag about being the cfo of not 1, not 2, but 6 companies. If I had to take a class with him again, I would switch out of Ryerson. I loved accounting, he crushed everyone's spirit. thank you brad :)
The absolute WORST prof I've ever had in my life. First half of the term, didn't teach at all, made students work in groups the whole lecture to do some stupid hw questions. On top of those weekly in class hw, there was weekly module hw and weekly quizzes. His marking? NO MERCY. Worst grading ever, looks for absolutely anything to deduct marks from
Doesnt teach, all this guy says is conceptual framework, will mark way too hard, lives by the quote I like to see my student struggle will do anything in his power to screw u over
For a foundation course that prepares students for their future accounting courses, easily the worst professor choice the university could have made. Barely teaches, just goes over the slides and then has everyone go into groups to do homework. He times HW so you can't leave and come back, and states quizzes aren't meant to be completed in time
CPA's would fail his class. It's unrealistic for him to make homework and quizzes so difficult to the point where it takes approximately 4-5 hours to complete each one, with it only being worth 5% of your final grade. If there isn't a bell curve I'll lose my mind.
he literally got mad at us for achieving 100% on the post class homework and pre class quizzes.. the next class he started talking about how we cheated on homework and how he has suspicions on a few people. avoid at all costs and if you can't, drop it and take it the next semester, you can thank me later.
looks like im late to the party LOL
I hope you read this Brad , because you have caused A LOT of stress, grief, and depression amongst your students. You have FAILED as a teacher. mentor, and instruction. I am very disappointed in ryerson for hiring such an un competent individual. Brad, take a good look at yourself. You failed as a teacher. You should be ashamed of yourself. Pussmon
This guys a Hall of Fame Menace to Society bro, hows it even allowed that this man teaches here? Literally feels like Ryerson gets professors off the streets or something. Anyways, probably the worst professor Ive had in all of my years at Ryerson, if you wanna fail and fall into depression, then Brad is just the prof for you, otherwise NO!
Worst prof at Ryerson by far. Gives a quiz, in-class assignment, and homework each week but doesn't have any actual lectures to teach you. Gets CPAs to mark your exams and their marking scheme is ridiculous. Not sure why he is even a prof because he does absolutely nothing for the class
I took this class in 2018 so I don't remember much, but I genuinely feel like I blacked out that entire semester because of the trauma this man caused me. I'm not joking. During the semester I took this course, my mental health PLUMMETED. Brad consistently demeaned and yelled at me and other students in the course. I'm baffled he is still teaching.
This professor blows up at the class when everyone expresses how confused they are and asking him to slow down. Beginner level classes are not beginner friendly at all. He also prides himself on the high fail rate of his class which is so messed up.
Bradley is one of the best professors I have had, especially for AFA400. He will make you work for your grade but can be reasoned with. I had a few one on one sessions with him, and he helped me understand what I was getting wrong. If you participate, he will notice, especially online. Go to the lectures, email him questions! It all pays off!
In all my time, I have honestly never seen a worse prof than Brad. Avoid him at all costs if you can, he has questionable teaching and grading methods, and prides himself on the failure of his students. He regularly demonizes and insults students for no good reason. I honestly cant believe a professor like this is allowed to teach.
This prof is the worst I have ever had in my life. He is so rude to students and assigns hours worth of videos every week that you NEED to watch, as well as 2 weekly quizzes that are hard. On top of that, he words his questions on his exams very weirdly and grades even weirder. He sets students up for failure and takes pride in that.
By far the most vile professor I have ever had. This man takes the form of a monster and genuinely wants his students to fail. He began the course by proudly boasting about the high failure rates of this class. Didn't teach excel, doesn't clarify concepts, and responds rudely to students that ask for help. Midterm was actually insane!
Really reassuring to hear your prof say he doesnt care that almost all his students failed a midterm. Dr. MacMaster think its appropriate to quiz you on material that hasnt even been covered and when asked to explain why he does that, he said i like to challenge you guys. 0/5
This is coming from a straight-A student with a 4.0 GPA! stay away if you value your mental health. If you do all of the videos, ace the quizzes, and in-class activities, you might pass with a 50.
Literally ughhh this guy I have never had a more disrespectful and rude professor in my life. Also personally targets students like you say one thing this m f doesnt like and hes an BBBB for the rest of the semester. So condescending and rude. Also tests on material not taught and claims its a "neurological method"
Throughout the semester, Brad was rude and condescending towards students who did not understand the course material, and his tests can hardly be called a test of what you learn in the class, with some of the most confusing and unrelated questions I've ever seen. He belittled students who did poorly on his tests. AVOID him at all costs.
This was the worst professor I have ever had. Hours of videos and quizzes on top of the 3 hour lecture and he truly seemed to have a distaste for art students. Claimed we were "closed minded" after criticism. I did well on the course union practice midterm, ended up failing the actual midterm. Had to drop the class because I wouldn't have passed
Brad will challenge you. In CRI, we aren't really used to this. I encourage you to push through it, put in the extra work, ask questions in class, and do the practice exams by the CICU to prep. The midterm was challenging, final was fair. I considered dropping at mid term but in the end, Brad taught me more than any other prof has since COVID hit.
Be prepared for this terrible, mean, rude, and cruel human. Zero empathy even during a pandemic. The worst class I've ever taken at Ryerson because of him. Wish I could have learned accounting from someone or ANYONE else.
The content when you actually do it isn't bad. But you have to do 3 hours of it outside of class time. He doesn't teach you. Wastes class time with "tutorials". Biggest annoyance is the poorly worded question. You can understand the content but they way everything was phrased made you second guess everything.
At the beginning of his class he goes on to say that the people on rate my professor are extreme. The only thing extreme is his hate for passing students. The fact that this professor is the only one that teaches AFA 400 should be a federal crime. This class alone is making me switch out of accounting and finance, thank god it's only a 50 to pass.
Im just so confused there's too much going on. There's 3 types of homework that are each open online for a certain amount of time, some are due before class, some during and some after. there's a 30 pages case (??) that I have no idea what it is and like a gazillion announcements redirecting us to ressources redirecting us to ressources. im lost
Brad is hands down the worst professor I have ever had. The amount of work per week equates to three classes worth of work. His lectures explain nothing and he does not go through a single practice question in an accounting course. He does not make an attempt to teach his students. Anybody can read some accounting terms off a powerpoint. Stay Away.
Pmdip - accounting is ruined by this course. Do not take this course or the program at Ryerson. Awful Professor, Worse TA.
All he cares about is to brag about his past job as CFO. Sometimes he'd spend more time talking about his experience as CFO and how amazing he was at this job than actual teaching. He constantly says that textbook is wrong, yet refuses to provide any supporting evidence or substitutions for textbook. Also super rude and disrespectful to students.
Honestly I wanted to like him, but after months of condescension it never ended.
Avoid this dude at all costs. even if u have to defer your graduation one more semester to avoid this dude, just do it! This dude would come to class, read off his power point, no explanations whatsoever and then send u home to deal with his useless, time consuming assignments that you have no idea how begin solving them. Just AVOID him.
the best teacher ever would switch to his class any day he is so so so so so silly
Conceptual Framework. That's all his vocabulary consists of. I still hear that word in my nightmares. Run... By far the worst accounting professor in the program.
- I found his office hours very helpful.Goes out his way to make sure students understand. -I found it helpful that he asks students questions,it really forces one to focus.
Brad MacMaster seemed to only do this job to tell us what he knew and talk about what mattered to him, not what helped us succeed in this class. He constantly read from slides and was not helpful when it came to providing quality answers. Heavy on homework and reading. Difficult marker. Avoid him.
Advanced Finance - Credit Institute of Canada - Lots to learn, lots of work, requires lots of effort but the reward is up to you. If you want to achieve a great grade then you will be willing to work for it. The professor gives lots of examples to assist students learning.
I took advanced finance with Brad, this was a challenging class where I learned quite a bit of financial analysis. I was able to use the material taught in class in my day to day job. Brad provides excellent feedback to help students learn, and apply the learnings in real life business applications.
I was in Advanced Finance with Brad MacMaster. He is a very good instructor and likes to share his knowledge. He takes the time to provide great feedback on assignments and encourages his students to make an effort to understand the material. He gives great examples and encourages students to participate in discuss as this enhances learning.l
I would take him again! he is a good prof and nice guy overall. Sure his lectures are long but it comes in handy for midterms and finals. Do well on his weekly quizzes they help later on. He does pick on students randomly so make sure to know the material before class. Make sure to attend his office hours, it helps!!
ACC100 isn't the easiest course for everyone but Macmaster understands it's challenges and helps provide as much resources and assistance as possible to make sure you get it. He does call out on students but if you go over the notes before class you'll be fine. I think people mix the difficulty of the course with Macmaster as a prof but he's great
Honestly a great prof, that actually cares about you and your success. He will go out of his way to learn your name and make sure you understand throughout the lecture. His rating is way too low cause its not him but the people that dont show up to any lectures and complain after doing bad. Honestly Brad is my goat
ACC100 its a hard course itself but Brad really helps his students out if you genuinely want to learn the material. Make sure you read before class starts because he calls you out during lectures.
Worst prof had to drop out of the class he doesn't go over how to do problems well and doesn't even let u take pictures of the solutions. Run!
Absolute worst professor, didn't earn anything in the class, I dropped out of the class and was hoping to learn the material on my own with the textbook this absolute dingus kicks me out.
Brad is an engaging prof who goes the extra mile to ensure students grasp the material. The class is challenging, but with attendance, prep, and tools like unstuckstudy ai, you can succeed. Definitely worth taking.
This guys the worst prof at TMU. Exams are nothing like what he teaches in class.
This might be by far the worst professor I have ever had the displeasure of taking. The midterms are nothing like the material in class. To help put this into perspective he teaches you things HIS way instead of the way that the CPA body says to. This professor also evaluates Conceptual Framework even though that was covered in AFA300. AVOID!!!
All the questions on the exam were absolutely nothing like the in class work/wiley, both of which he doesn't even teach us regardless. He expects us to have the same level of knowledge as CPAs. Doesn't even do the in class questions, doesn't post or allow pics to be taken either.
Dont even bother taking this class if u get him, its like he designed it for u to fail. He gets CPA's to mark your exams and they are absolutely nothing like the questions that u practice. More than half of my class failed the exam
Avoid at all costs this course had a worse midterm average than QMS130 which says a lot abt the professor. U will have to learn everything urself, all he does is read the slides and brag abt his experience as a CFO and shoves conceptual framework in our faces. Doesnt even do the questions in class and doesnt give us time to even copy the solutions
Anyone he picks who doesn't answer his question in less than half a second will get called out for being incompetent by him. He does not teach course material whatsoever and basically expects us to be on par with CPAs in terms of knowledge. The midterm took out more than half the class most, people failed it and the ones who passed got low marks
He goes against the textbook and cpa body a lot but then does not teach us his methods properly either nor does he give us any real practice based on "his methods" but expects us to be able to answer them. The exam questions and the questions we use for practice from textbook, wiley and in class work are night and day, completely different. Avoid!!
68% of our class just failed the midterm. He says the CPAs who mark our exams know better, but expects us to have CPA-level knowledge. He claims the only way to get answers to practice problems are to come to his class, but doesn't have patience for those who are slower to understand and doesn't allow them to go over them during office hours. AVOID
Most people failed. We had a reasonable prof in AFA300 who assessed us based on class content. Not only was this different, but the marking's unfair & we were tested on AFA300 stuff. We failed from him & he acknowledged, but never changes. An undergraduate professor should motivate students to do better, but this guy legit told us we can't be CPAs.
Who made this yute a CFO. Tmus biggest waste man
WORST PROF IN EXISTENCE.... HE DOES NOT TEACH PROPERLY, KEEP IN MIND HE JUST YAPS ABOUT CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK EVEN THO THATS NOT PART OF THE TEXTBOOK OR COURSE CURRICULUM, HE FULLY USES OUTSIDE CPA HANDBOOKS TO TEST US ON AND NOTHING FROM THE CLASS CONTENT OR WILEY HW ASSIGNMENTS... HE FAILS EVERYONE AND DOESNT GIVE ANY PARTIAL MARKS.
firstly, he doesn't do a good job at teaching, he goes over slides, mentions conceptual framework like a 2 year old child learning to say mom or dad. he is proud of failing students as 70% of the class had failed, he does not do anything about it, he doesn't give any partial marks and looks for exact answers which is impossible and do not take him.
I did so well in AFA 300 with the GOAT, Else. Then I take AFA 400 with this man, my grade dropped so bad, I never expected to get this low of a mark, EVER. His midterm was very unfair and complicated, you would have to be a CPA to do his midterm and actually pass. Majority of the class failed the midterm, even people who actually studied for days.
This guy got actual CPAs to mark our midterm. Put questions that we never even saw before on both the in class work (which he dont even do) or the homework. This guy takes pride in bad mouthing us and telling us how we wont be CPAs. His ego is through the roof spends all of class talking abt his cfo experiences as if anyone cares. Learn to teach
If he's reading this girl please learn to teach properly or just quit. Stop ruining our lives just cuz u want us being tested at a CPA level. Some of our end goals isn't even to become a CPA so if u could just do ur job and teach whats in the textbook and actual curriculum instead of focusing on conceptual framework, 70% of the class wouldn't fail.
All fam does is talk about conceptual framework. Even in the midterm he expected us to apply that concept when none of the questions even asked for it. His midterm consisted of everything except what he taught in class, and he didn't even teach properly in class, just read over his slides and skipped the important content.
Why was stuff from AFF 310 being tested on the midterm? Keep in mind he didn't even go over these type of questions during class nor in the textbook. Also, if you are going to test us with newly invested questions i do not know where you pull them from, give us the damn partial marks. How does one like you expect us to think from your perspective?
gurl? be fr. goodbye.
if u wanna do well in this course, consider studying every other book that exists on the planet instead of the course textbook since nothing from the course content is tested- and when it is tested, it is nowhere near the level that we learned
this prof got me suicidal
For someone who has so much experience in the industry he is so egotistical when it comes to 20 year old students lol. This guy takes pride in bad mouthing us to let us know how incompetent we are and that we wont become CPAs if we don't live up to his standards. I'm not a 40 year vet like u buddy do ur job and teach no one cares that u are a CFO
can those higher-ups do something about him? it's ridiculously unfair. they're gonna say we're just pissed abt failing when it's literally his fault for not testing us on course material. why should we drop the course just to have him again another semester? like yay! i get to postpone my Brad depression to another semester! go us! what a life!
Would wish him on my worst enemy
Ofc TMU won't do anything about this because they clearly don't care about students. We have a prof who doesn't test us on course material but on concepts that are beyond our comprehension bcus he doesn't flipping teach us. We are 20 yr old uni students we aren't abt to write the CFE mate. It's not that deep take it easy and put ur ego aside
Instead of helping students and guiding them u tell us how we aren't fit to be CPAs and constantly shame us. U lack the main skill a teacher needs, TEACHING. We did well with Else because she helped us understand the course content whereas u just pull random content from ur behind and put it on the exam. U are a disgrace to teaching
I'm losing hair bcus of u bro wth
Hearing conceptual framework gives me PTSD this dude Brad is responsible for destroying our mental health. Not like he cares anyways lol. P.S, professor Else Grech PLEASE come back we need u and not this yute
I did not pay 1k to teach my self. Please bring back Else or someone who actually teaches the content properly, not skim over slides and call it a day. Brad didn't even let us copy the solutions down to the excel problems done in class. He is so unfair, just like his exams. I even get nightmares about conceptual framework, I think I need therapy:(
Do us all a favour and stop teaching bcus u clearly don't want ur students to succeed. U take pride in how bad we did on the exam as if that's a flex? U should be disappointed in urself and u should be asking us what u can do better as a teacher. No class has this high of a fail rate so maybe look at urself and realize that ur the problem.
worst prof at tmu by far he needs to resign and his wife and kids def hate him lol
RUNNN!! Don't take this prof. Doenst really teach or go over questions. Wastes time and doesn't help after class. Midterms are very hard, and hes a VERY hard marker. Class average was 44%, so its not just me, hes the problem. If he's the only one teaching that semester, just take it another semester, not worthing wasting your money or sanity.
just no. literally no. and no. no.
worse than doc rivers and darvin ham
He has this mindset that he's right and all of the students are wrong. Talks only about how he was a CFO of Kelseys and "Conceptual Framework" never actually explains what it means. If you think "Oh I don't think the RMP reveiws are that bad" don't. LISTEN to the reviews DO NOT take his class.again I repeat DO NOT take his class. DROP THE COURSE
Degraded students for failing the midterm in his words "his past class did way better I don't know what TMU is teaching you guys". Told a girl that was disputing for her grade "We are CPA markers you don't know better than us". He then got a midterm question wrong and said "I don't want to change everyone's mark because of just one mark".DROP CLASS
I'd rather go back to my ex than take anything taught by him again.
He only likes two things: talking about "conceptual framework" and failing students
Terrible professor, enough said.
Man hasn't felt the touch of a woman since he became CFO
He's up there with bin laden and em
he def has daddy and mommy issues
Buddy ain't been near 🐱 since he was CFO. Hope his wife took everything in the divorce.
Could've ended off this semester nicely but NOOOO Brad just had to ruin that for me by making me drop the course with his absolutely horrendous teaching 😡 #Worst Prof Ever
Shames you and doesn't give students chances to succeed. Doesn't give out accessible solutions. He loves making students' lives harder. Probably had to get to where he is with everything pitted against him so takes it out on students to make them feel the same way.
Waited the entire semester to write this. Hands down worst professor ever. This guy is so egotistical he has a website about himself. I genuinely don't wish the worst for anyone, but I genuinely hope this guy gets fired so future students maintain their mental health. Brad if you ever see this, F u, I hope your wife took everything in the divorce.
Worse prof ever. Not consistent with the textbook and no clear reading criteria. Lectures do not make sense and and does not post any solutions.
If you ever feel like you've hit rock bottom, there is actually a level under that and it's taking this course with Bradley Macmaster. He comes to class ready to ruin your day at 8 am. All he talks about is himself, tbh if he had a question about his career on the final exam I could probably answer it better than any material he's "taught".
This professor puts a lot of effort into teaching conceptual framework and how it shapes the accounting systems we use. He also provides an incredibly useful framework for assessing and responding to cases. He marks hard and pushes students but completing the course with him leads to a much better understanding of the course material.
If you're looking for a professor who redefines ‘learning the hard way,' this is your person. Lectures were an adventure in patience, assignments felt like guessing games, and clarity was as rare as extra credit. Truly a masterclass in testing your resilience. DO NOT TAKE HIM AT ANY COST. AND NO. DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE. JUST DO NOT.
Lectures can be slow or confusing as the professor tends to get sidetracked or use drawn out examples that are difficult to follow without accompanying visuals. The professor does not post solutions to the questions he takes up in class. He strongly emphasizes a thorough understanding of the Conceptual Framework to be successful in the course.
Goes through concepts quickly at times. Lectures always go the 3 hours but in order for you to learn the concepts, its important that you participate as he often calls on people to answer questions. Interesting guy to talk to and is open to helping students who are confused.
Just came back to rant about this dude again since I gotta take AFA 400 again this semester. Still got dat trauma from dis class rip
he was so evil like not even constructive kind of evil like he genuinely hated people who were not as smart like he was so rude and accused me of cheating when i literally failed the exam like what cheating could i possibly be doing
If I wanted to teach myself I wouldn't have spent 1K taking his class. I genuinely hope this guy never experiences true happiness ever again, and he's truly a waste of space on this planet. All the problems and conflict in the world is caused by him.
brad is such a miserable yet narcissistic guy its insane good luck following anything he does as he speedruns through concepts and thank god its only an intro accounting course also for the final he boasts about how he gets like 5 cpas to overlook the final exam so that nobody can complain about grades hes got quite an ego for a frail old man
It was hard to keep up since he goes through the lectures very quickly.
Do not make the same mistake I did Brad & Bradely are the same prof - he has a 3.8 as Bradly. I thought they were different profs but they were not. He will call on everyone in class, especially those sitting in the back, and his lectures are long, monotone, and tedious. He does not post his sheets after, so you have nothing to reference - AVOID!
Class is unnecessary unless you are having trouble with a concept, in which case you might as well go to office hours or form a study group. Just do the pqs in the tb especially the big ones about how different transactions affect the balance sheet and stuff like that lectures only cover pqs trust me you don't need to go you can skip and self-teach
