Bio 1 is a very hard class. Paschal is very clear and goes out of his way to answer any questions. He is active during lab. The nature of the course makes it seem that he is hard. He is a good teacher, but expect to study!

He is very helpful and always ready to help. Likes it when you ask questions. Hes test are really hard and you have to really study for them. Dont take this clss lightly.

His class is hard but he makes it interesting. If you take notes and study, you'll do well, but the exams are hard. Don't skip his lab or it'll bite you in the end.

Makes Bio fun and interesting. The tests are kick a*s, so be prepared to study hard. Hes funny, and cool, but is definately not a easy teacher. Two things you will definatly learn about in his class: projectile vomiting and worms that live in the intestine.

Bio 1 is really hard class, he is very helpful teacher, funny, always there to help you answer your question, in lab time, even u don't ask him question, but he still come ask you. his test is really hard, pay attention in his lecture. He want to to write down exactly what it is on the book

If you think this is going to be another easy class where you can slack off, think again. You MUST be prepared to study extensively for this class. DON'T take this class if you have a full load because it'll be hard for you to keep up. Word of advice: study hard from the get-go. Dont procrastinate, & don't take this class lightly. You'll regret it.

Mr. Paschal definitely ranks as one of the best instructors I've taken. I actually looked forward to going to his class; He's very clear and entertaining with his lectures. As many of the comments state, this is a very challenging class with an average workload. The most difficult part are his exams. So as long as you study, you're good.

Brad is an EXCELLENT teacher. He sometimes like to crack jokes and is very entertaining. His class is not that easy. If you study though, you'll be fine. He's also very precise, clear, and detailed. I would suggest to anyone to take his biology class.

The best bio teacher, knows a lot, entertaining, doesnt put you to sleep. Now, you need to study a little hard to get good grades, not a piece of cake but doable. Quizzes not too complicated. Higly recommended.

One of the best teachers I have ever had. His lecture is amazing, and very straightforward. He gives real life examples to help you remember. He doesn't grade hard at all, and his tests are very straightforward. The book is used as reinforcement to the lecture, but this is one lecture class that you want to attend. He's awesome.

One of the best professors ive ever had. His classes are no joke and you have to attend his lectures. His tests are not hard if you take notes and read the chapters. He is the BEST science teacher! PERIOD. He's very passionate about Biology & helps you if you don't understand. This subject is extremely hard, but if you study actively (he even shows how to do it) you will pass. If you don't make an effort you won't. He also uses awesome examples in class which make everything clear! This was the best class ever!

I've been at solano for 2 yaers, finished all my gen ed, and Brad Paschal is the best teacher I've ever had. He explains things very clearly, is straightforward about what you need to know on tests and quizzes and is interested in both his field and his students. He's a funny guy. You don't have to be a nerd to get all his jokes, but it helps.

I consider Brad one of the best professors SCC has! He makes Biology fun and interesting and his analogies are extremely helpful (although sometimes a little dorky but in a very endearing way). I highly recommend him and I only wish other professors cared as much about teaching as he does.

Between his lectures and videos he showed us he really made the class interesting for this non-Science major. The class is by no means easy but so long as you take good notes and do the lab work an A is pretty feasible. I had since transferred and graduated from a CSU and to this day he still stands out as one of the best teachers I've ever had.

Mr. Paschal is one of the best Professors at SCC!! He actually cares about his job and students and there are FEW professors that actually cares. I was a deaf student of his and he saw me fallen behind but caught me and led me to a desirable grade. I would recommend him for all non-science majors! AV

Absolutely the best teacher SCC has to offer. There is a ton of material and it is a hard class, but having a teacher like Brad made it fun and interesting. You will really come away from this class feeling great about what you learned. If you need the Bio 1/2 series, you absolutely need to take it from Brad.

Brad is wonderful! I'm not majoring in Biology, and I was originally taking his class just to meet my science requirements. However, it wasn't long before he became my favorite teacher this semester. Brad has made my first year at Solano a great one! He's always very laid back and so personable, its hard not to like the class. Really does a great job making things interesting. Literally no assignments to worry about. 4 quizzes, 4 exams, plenty of extra credit opportunities... however, you HAVE to study! A must-have professor for sure.

Brad is THE BEST teacher at Solano. He really makes you want to learn and pay attention. He is funny, easy going, and his field trips for marine biology are awesome. We went night kayaking!! The lab portion of his class was fun, hard but fun. There were never surprises on the tests. Go to class and you're prepared. Bottom Line: GREAT TEACHER.

Changes syllabus on the fly so you never know your grade. Takes points off correct answers that don't have enough details. Tests don't reflect amount of time a topic was covered in lecture. Gives pop quizzes at start of class so punctuality and attendance mandatory. Labs involve teaching yourself from memorizing the book. Nice guy, hard class.

GREAT TECHER . would take again any day. He is easy to talk to, and understands life happens. Don't miss class he will have questions on the quiz that he only talks about in lecture. Little homework but you do need the book and need to study. Totally worth it I wish he taught more classes.

Show tough love, will make you work for it but the help is always there.

I dreaded taking any bio class, but he made it interesting! Highly recommend this class. He wants you to pass and explains everything well. I showed up, took notes, and got an A. Gives tons of extra credit but ended not needing it. He doesn't bombard you with technical terms - just wants to see that grasp the overall concept. Easy. And hes cute :)

ABSOLUTLEY THE BEST!!! By far one of the most enthusiastic, approachable, easy going and knowledgeable professors at Solano. He makes lectures intriguing and understandable for any interest level. 4 quizzes, 3 tests, and the final. Lots of extra credit. MUST study for quizzes and tests, but know the material really well and they are pretty easy.

Brad actually gets you to understand the material and not just memorize it. Field trips are cool and not mandatory. 1010 would take again. And he's clearly stacking those chili peppers on here. Rack it in, Brad!

My favorite professor by far this year at Solano. LOVE LOVE LOVE this class and his method of teaching. He even helped with my studying habits in my other classes. Don't get me wrong this class isn't easy, and you absolutely HAVE to study for the quizzes and exams, but the way he teaches makes absorbing the material easy and fun!

This is my favorite class I've taken by far. Professor Paschal makes the material so fun and easy to learn. He definitely makes you work for your grade since the quizzes and tests mainly consists of short answer and a few paragraph questions. However, if you're interested in the subject and put effort into participating, getting an A isn't hard.

This class was by far one of the hardest classes i've taken at Solano, but it was never boring and Prof Brad always kept us intrigued & made sure we understood everything. He stays after class for anyone who needs extra help & he gives extra credit. He wants us all to pass but you really need to work hard for it if you want that A.

Best bio professor. Teaches with lots of real life examples so it actually makes sense. He tells you everything thats going to be on the exams so no surprises. Lectures are entertaining, and no you do not have to memorize labs. He also dresses nice, and is genuinely caring. Don't miss class.

Paschal is a very good teacher. He was always encouraging students to meet him outside of class if they need help. He seems to genuinely care about the students' success. The tests are not too hard if you read the book and do the practice questions at the end of each chapter. He takes roll each week. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Professor Paschal is a very fair grader. If you pay attention by taking notes in class and read the text book, you will pass the class. His barrowed jokes are funny, and he does care about his students. He does provide an opportunity for extra credit. Over all, great teacher and worth it!

Paschal is a great bio professor. He has a passion for biology and is very helpful when you have questions or need more understanding of the material. He explains everything well and in a way that is relatable and easy to comprehend. Lab quizzes are easy as long as you review the lab. There are only two exams throughout the whole semester.

One of my most respected teachers ever taken thus far. He is really passionate about his job and loves assisting his students academically in anyway possible. I would recommend taking him again and again if you can. An outstanding instructor that is accessible outside of class and very informative and concise about what he wants. A Real Gem.

Really enjoyed his class, his lectures are interesting (necessary for a 3 hour night class!). No homework, makes studying easy by providing practice questions (often seen again on quizzes/tests!). Only complaint is that he usually returns graded assignments later than he said he would. You do have to work for your grade. I recommend Brad!

Hes a fantastic lecturer, especially when in his class for a three hour night class, he tries to keep the class engaged constantly. For me specifically I did not need the textbook, his notes cover exactly what will be on the test/quiz, and often his study questions mimic the test/quiz very well.

He is absolutely the BEST teacher in Solano Community College. Very funny and makes lecture fun. I took him for Anatomy and most of lab are memorization which was extremely easy. Lecture was a bit difficult, definitely read the book to understand more. You can tell he is passionate about his work, and makes you excited to come to class.

Amazing professor. Took for human biology and anatomy, not even needing anatomy for my major. Learned so much and looked forward to going to his classes. Offers excellent resources, office hours, and stays after class if students need be. Prepares you for all exams thoroughly and you never have to worry about "trick questions." 10/5!!

Great professor and he enjoys the subject. He loved to help and was available during office hours, and would stay hours after if people needed him. There's 5 lab exams, 4 lecture exams, and a final(half is the last unit), with a few small assignments/extra credit. Would've had more exams to spread out the info, rather than so much in a few exams.

Prof. Paschal was an amazing Bio 4 lab instructor. Every time we were in the lab, he would always come around, and ask us if we are seeing everything we are supposed to be. In the cadaver room, he would first go over all the parts, then have us find them on our own, while still coming around and making sure we see the anatomy. Solid Choice.

Class: very rigorous and organized. But he's the best! His real-life examples are very useful and fun to hear/read. Tests and quizzes? Same with other classes, just study hard, read if you want, pay attention to his lectures. He's a "geek" or "nerd" (I don't remember how he labels himself); he is open for any conversation relating to science.

Prof. Paschal is an excellent instructor who is thoughtful about his learning material and his students. There are field trips in which students explore concepts studied in class. His exams are short answer and comparable to my UC (Cal) STEM midterms. I wish I took another course of his before I transferred.

Kindest prof. Funny at times but so many quizzes and tests. Luckily you can drop one test & two quizzes. He's available by email & will help tutor you but his voice is kind of monotone and being an online night class, I struggled big time. This will be my first B received at Solano which sucks but I should have applied myself more. Pay Attention!

I really liked this professor and would definitely take his class again. Not a science person but he made it interesting. Goes out of his way to help you pass as long as you're doing the work and trying. He also gives good study tips that help in any class. Lectures are long but very thorough and detailed- listen and take notes and you will pass.

He's passionate about biology and it translates into his lectures. The exams and quizzes are no problem, just read the textbook. 1000/10 rating for me.

One of my favorite professors. He is empathetic, supportive, and caring. Communication is big with him. If you have an issue, reach out, he is wonderful. Amount of work is very easy. Quizzes and tests are cool as long as you take notes from the lectures and learn the material. I would definitely take his classes again!

Its been years since I took this course and I am now a student at UC Davis, but I think about this professor a lot. By far my most favorite teacher I've ever taken. His knowledge has stuck with my in my carrier of biological sciences, he is very carrying and I would often look to him for advice. Would take him a million times if I could.

Professor Paschal was a fantastic professor. Very little homework was given and any that was typically was just to finish the questions at the end of a lab packet. He also offered an extra credit assignment that was available through pretty much the entire semester and had 5 or so options to pick from, I attended a student success workshop for it.

I absolutely loved this professor! He's very kind and caring, he makes sure to provide all the tools that students need in order to succeed in his class. I will say it is pretty lecture heavy and your grade will mainly consist of the tests, quizzes and seminars rather than assignments so you do have to pay attention during those lectures and labs

Lectures are interesting and he is open to feedback. Workload solely depends on how good you are at bio. This class can be tough (not because of the professor) but with a little extra effort you can make it work. He is open to extensions. There is also extra credit opportunities and he drops your lowest scores on quizzes, exams, and even the final.

Professor Paschal is one of the best professors I've had at Solano. I took BIO 016 to help prepare me for BIO 004 and I can honestly say he did. His lectures are fun and engaging. Be prepared to take good notes and study otherwise, you'll have a hard time keeping up. Only thing I wished he did was record his lectures in case you miss class.

I really want to compliment this professor as everyone else did but I can't possibly do the same. Let me explain why: I've been suffering from a neurological disorder for years now and when I was in this class never had I ever experienced such strange and ostracizing abuse that I did from this professor. He left me feeling ashamed and traumatized

I wish I could tag more than 3 things cuz he is AMAZING!! He organizes his lectures so well and you are tested on everything you cover in class, so as long as you're there, you know what to expect. I ALWAYS read the chapter first so I was prepared for the lecture and could participate. I also ALWAYS did the study questions and stayed after class

Even though I only took BIO16 lecture with no lab, I wish that Professor Paschal was my professor for any of my future labs. Super funny and passionate about teaching, also very understanding and accommodating if you're struggling in any way (just communicate!). It was uplifting to take his class, I gain a lot more confidence in biology.

Professor Paschal is an engaging lecturer who makes complex topics enjoyable. Attendance is mandatory, but the textbook is optional. Unstuck AI and quizzes are great for exam prep. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding class.

Very caring, understanding, helpful, and knowledgeable about biology. Lectures are very engaging and interesting. Has a rule of never calling on people individually. Labs are chill, gives instructions but lets groups go at their own pace. Exams are tough but lets you bring a "cheat sheet". Optional field trips. Never used textbook.

If I could take him for every science class I would! He's a great lecturer and explains science very well by using a lot of examples. He was always available for extra help before and after class. There was barely any assignments. All exams were allowed notes. All the quizzes and exams were easy because his lectures set you up for success.

Professor Paschal is truly caring for all of his students and goes above and beyond for everyone. While somewhat difficult of topics were taught, he made it easy and fun to learn. He even gave great advice about transferring which was amazing as I took his class my semester before transferring.
