I will agree, this class is awesome. Usually pretty interesting with fun discussions but even when it drags a little, you still have the teach to stare at...he is super sexy...He is just a fun guy and he wants everyone to do well.Tests are pretty easy too

Mr.R was and is a great teacher, he is very personal and willing to help you with almost anything you don't understand. He makes class interesting and you only have two tests and one paper. oh & hes a hunk.

He was pretty easy. Really laid back. Two quizzes, one midterm and final, and one paper that's fun to do because you get to go to the zoo. Pretty easy over all.

cool guy. very patient. really entertaining and good at teaching the subject. Only 1 paper that is graded very easily. I got and A and i never even bought the book. Most of midterm and final are takehome.

very funny at times in class and makes studying for his exams easy. He is also a real cool teacher even though anthropology is something I'm not really interested in. Feel free to ask him questions, that is what he likes and wants his students to pass.

a class that never really interested me to begin with, but he made it intersting. Dont agree with all of what he says but he is at least somewhat entertaining during the lecture. overall the class isnt that hard and i would recommend him over Merrifield.

Very clear- his tests and quizes come from vocab in the book and his lecture notes- simple to follow along- entertaining. One of the most organized teachers at Saddleback. If you need this class for a req. take it with Brad- you'll enjoy it a lot... I did!!

not only is brad funny, but he really knows his stuff. gives a review sheet for each test and quiz, and you have a research paper due. his class totally changed my outlook on evolution, and i changed my major! i HIGHLY recommend his class. i took it @ 7:30 AM, and i was STILL interested.

I enjoyed this class very much! Brad made it very fun and open. Every shared their own views on subjects and we were always joking around and we definately learned a lot. Two quizes on vocabulary. Midterm on vocab, Final-an essay on the enthnography of the OC. 3 four page book reports.

Brad is a great professor! He really knows his stuff and gets the class involved. He makes the course very fun, and stress-free. I know have a new understanding of Anthropology, and I love the subject. 3 book reports, 2 quizzes, few worksheets (easy), midterm and final (not cumulative). I was excited about this class before I took it, but when it started, I just COULDN'T keep my eyes open! There were too many videos (many of which I remembered watching in biology... freshman year of high school.) He's a nice guy, but not an amazing teacher.

This man is aweseome. His goal is to get his students to retain information, not to cram and self-teach. He will work with you all you need to understand. Easy to approach. This subject can be boring, Brad makes it FUN and GREAT. Forget Merrifield, go with Brad. You will not regret it. A VERY cool guy, I would not mind buying him a drink sometime.

So easy. I did not study at all after seeing how ridiculously easy the first test was. Brad is very nice and realistic with where we were and what we could do. He offered extra credit - and I got to get to go to the zoo!

Brad is an amazing teacher. He may not be the hardest, but his goal is to teach you useful information and help you to retain it. Class material and lectures are aimed toward topics that the students find interesting and important. Speak up, Brad will respect your input and go on some really interesting tangents. Take him. Plus, he's attractive.

He knows his stuff...Some cultures, unfortunately, can't be made very interesting. It's paced in a way that gets you more interested as the Semester progresses, though. He's a nice guy and you should do well if you absorb what is discussed and don't consfuse which culture he's talking about at a particular part of lecture.

Great teacher. I am a little more conservative than he, but I really enjoyed his lectures. He gives un opinionated info., unlike a lot of liberal Saddleback professors. Merrifield lectured one day and, although I was pleased to be allowed the opportunity to learn from him, I actually found myself wishing he would turn the class back over to Brad.

theres a 2 page paper due almost every week and a 5-8 page bookreport on a book from a list he gives you, lectures are very boring and you watch alot of boring videos, he doesnt take attendance but if you miss class youll miss the points from the video worksheets

Take this class, you have to try to fail. He teaches extremely well, and makes it interesting. 2 Quizzes and 2 Tests, and a book analysis. Just show up everyday and write down everything he writes on the board, hands out study guides. This is one of the easiest classes I have taken, take this class. Awesome teacher

I took the online class and it was great! No papers, very few quizes. If you read the lecture you will do fine w/o even opening the main txtbk, I actually don't even know if I did. There was a supplemental book with articles that we used weekly, but that was 2-3 pages of reading and interesting. no discussion board, great study guides. Easy A

I've had him for 2 different ANTH classes and have to say he is an amazing teacher! Easy to talk to and willing to help. He's really on the level with the students and knows what he is talking about. BEST TEACHER AT SADDLEBACK! I took anth 2 with him and had to take anth 1. He really loves the subject and it is very apparent when he teaches. He has a great sense of humor and really cares about his students. Attendance not mand. but he knows if your not there. Sit in the first couple rows and your guaranteed a good grade! I took this class online. I felt it was extremely well organized and the assignments were crystal clear. I initially had little interest in this class as it was unrelated to my major, however I ended up learning quite a bit of interesting material. Rettele is very fair and has put a lot more care and effort into the class than most online teachers.

Definitely recommended! Take good notes and the tests will be pretty easy. Lots of videos. Homework is easy, you don't need the textbook and he offers extra credit. His lectures are interesting and he writes everything on the board, so note taking is easy. He makes the subject interesting by applying it to real life. One 6-8pg book analysis.

Awesome teacher. My favorite in my two years there. Hilarious teacher. Not much hw, just worksheets. You don't need to use the textbook. Makes notes very clear and if you write them down, tests are a sinch. Gives extra credit and the zoo project is very fun and educational. Plays a lot of videos. Highly recommend him.

I'm pretty sure he thinks he's elvis? But a good teacher so far. I am taking his 4 hour summer class...it's not so bad actually. But the term paper is WAY longer than in a regular semester from what I have been reading in previous comments. The videos are no big deal. Busy work, everything is verbatim in all the worksheets. Overall doesn't seem bad

I find ANTH2 to be interesting. His teaching style includes classroom discussion, lecture, and videos. However, he is anti-Christian and actively portrays his bias even though the class doesn't have anything to do with it. His comments on the Bible seem unnecessary and irrelevant to what we're supposed to learn. He's an overall decent teacher.

Brad is great! He makes a point to learn names despite the huge class size of 60 students, encourages new ideas. Go to class and do the assignments. He gives you a study guide for quizzes and tests, which are mostly multiple choice and short answer. quizzes and tests are easy if you study actively (quiz yourself instead of just reading study guide)

The class is super easy if you copy all of the notes and review them before the test. The zoo project wasn't very difficult either. If you want to argue about the theories of evolution presented, don't even bother, take a philosophy class instead.

He made it very interesting and the hw was easy points. The tests were hard though and a lot of tricky questions were on the multiple choice. If you don't like to study much for tests I would not recommend this class. He wants you to stay interested and has many relatable exercises. He is very funny. This is not a class I would ever fall asleep in.

Very organized 8wk online class! Mostly online videos and lite bookwork that have answers to the HW. Use the EXAM REVIEW. Find the answers in the lectures and you will do well on the tests. Ape Genus 6pg paper due 6th week. 3 Discussion boards. All in all a great class and easy A. Just do the work! Would take Prof. Rettele again any day!

He's decent. Class was kind of boring. He'll spice it up with some analogies once in a while but for the most part class was pretty boring. Midterm, final, 2 quizzes, a term paper, some Annual Editions exercises and video worksheets make up your whole grade. Don't need the book. All articles are online.

He is a great teacher. The course is kind of confusing going in with no idea what anthropology was at all. I needed it for my major. overall great teacher & really enjoys it! Learned everyones name in a huge lecture class and if you do the study-guides had then you will get at least a B on the test. not to mention he is not to bad on the eyes ;)

Very cool guy and great teacher! Do the annual editions and try not to miss the video worksheets and youll be set. The quizzes/tests can be alittle tricky but if you put in some effort and study you can handle them just fine. Take this professor! One of the best at saddleback for sure

You don't use the the main textbook just the annual editions book. i actually understood the lessons. i like going at my own speed,easy teacher. just do the assignments and you'll be fine.he gives reviews before every test. fill them out and keep with you when you take the test. comes from the review!!

Awesome teacher!! Zoo project is cool, you learn alot. class is not "easy" but he is a fair grader if he can tell you have studied! I recommend this class to anyone interested in anthro or not, its awesome!!! great teacher!!

I really like him and the class. I am atheist and love learning about evolution, so my opinion might be kind of bias. If you are good at science/bio this class is fairy easy. just go to class and take notes, do the few homework assignments he gives, and do the final zoo project and you will definitely pass. Quizzes are pretty much all from notes.

I wish I could've taken the non-online class with him. All the lectures he posts online (and btw, you don't need the textbook if you take the online class) are really interesting, so he is probably a good lecturer as well. Easy class as the answers to the tests and quizzes are on the lectures.

If you drop out of this class, you my good friends are just plain stupid. He is an absolutely great teacher who loves the subject and knows how to teach it. The class is very simple, with 2 quizzes and 2 tests, and 1 paper of you going to the zoo or reading a book. Take the class, you'll have a lot of fun :)

Mr. Rettele is truly a professor who loves his subject. He loves to crack jokes, and memorizes names after like, 2 weeks. His class is easy to pass if you have good to moderate attendance, and i didnt even have to buy the text book. if you dont take his class, youre missing out!!!!!! and he's kinda hot i guess haha.

Brad is the reason I'm an anthropology major. Anth can be a dry subject with other professors, but Brad makes it interesting. He's the clearest and best Anth professor at saddleback. If it's your first introduction to the subject, don't settle for anyone else! He needs to teach more classes!

Wow!!! Best teacher i have ever had!!! Wonderful and great lookin in one! what a catch. He made anthro very interesting, tho i did get an A i worked hard for it! Not the easiest class but if you study hard and work hard it will be easy. I highly suggest taking anthro with this teacher

Great Professor. Very well-informed in his subject area. Made the class very fun and interesting. Always ready to answer questions and help students. If you take the notes he gives in class, you should do very well on his tests. Would definitely recommend him.

Great teacher. Very helpful and encourages feedback from the students. He doesn't take roll but trust me you're not going to want to miss class. He makes the course interesting and the notes you take in class are very helpful for the quizzes/midterms/final. I only used the book to review terms toward the end of the semester.

Really made biological anthropology interesting. I loved the zoo project, i will never look at the apes the same way after learning just how similar we are. Professor Rettele is extremely helpful and is very easy to talk to. You have to read and attend class though because the subject is difficult.

Took his online class, and while the assignments were easy, his quizzes/tests were frustrating at times. On every single one I found at least one answer that contradicted the text. After emailing him, he said he uses his information/definitions, not the textbooks, on exams. I scored significantly lower on than I should have on the final exam.

Such an awesome professor. Made coming to class everyday something I would look forward to. The zoo project and going to the zoo to observe primates was a great experience.Class is pretty easy, just show up for the lectures, dont miss the video ws or annual editions ws, and study HIS NOTES--for quizzes or tests.

I took the class online. He was easy to communicate with. I did all of my papers and my quizzes. At the end of the semester he completely blind sided the class with 50 points of something he never told us!!! and made everyones grade go significantly down.. Very frustrating! Feel like I wasted my time, wish he could of been more clear.

Brad is such a great teacher and has made me change my major to anthropology. he makes it a point to learn everyones name and get to know every single person in the class. he gives you study guides and takes attendance from video worksheets that he gives at random. I wish he taught more because his class was the only class i looked forward to

Awesome teacher! Very approachable and makes class interesting. The main text isn't mandatory, but may include some info not in his notes. I did have to study a lot for the 1st quiz and mid-term, but it gets easier. Also offers one (large) extra credit assignment. Can't wait for ANTH2!

He is a good teacher and fairly easy. Pay attention in his class and do the homework. Doing both will help you to pass your tests. There is a fun zoo project you get to do as well, so I suggest taking him in a classroom and not online.

Fun guy, fun class. Took his 4 hr summer cultural anthro class. This was my 1st anthro class but I found the material pretty interesting. Lectures can be a little unstructed at times but overall he is a great teacher. Shows very interesting videos & documentaries in class. Had worksheet to do every night but they were fairly easy

Incredibly great teacher! Brad doesn't have the easiest tests, but if you attend, take notes, & do homework, you WILL learn a ton. He is genuinely interested in the success of his students. Plenty of work in the class, but not overwhelming. Must do a zoo observation paper or read a full book of his choosing with a report. Doesn't talk down to class

Rad teacher. Honestly, if you show up to class, do the reading exercises, and study a couple days before the test youll do fine. Down to earth guy. Tests are more of a challenge but there derived from the quizzes, so many of the questions on the quizzes come up again on the test. Stoked i took the class. only buy the cheaper of the two textbooks

I love this guy! Best teacher ever! The quizzes & test are easy if you study a few days before the tests. The questions are straight from the notes & he even check marks the notes that will for sure be on the tests. An inspiring teacher & connects with his students, he will actually take the time to know all of his students by first and last name.

My favorite Anthropology teacher at saddleback. He is extremely clear about what you need to know and why you need to know it for his exams. I really enjoy Anthropology and Brad made it easy to understand all the complicated things you have to learn. BEST TEACHER EVER!

Professor Rettele always made it very clear what would be on the exam. The zoo project had detailed instructions that were easy to follow. Daily assignments were easy, and there was plenty of extra credit available.

This guy is a great professor in terms of describing everything clearly. I had him during the summer session, two quizzes,midterm and final which are exactly from the study guide. One field trip which is the zoo project. Take good notes and you will be fine. easy class

Very clear and concise teacher. He does not take attendance but every quiz and test is straight from his lectures. Occasional in class assignments that require attendance to complete. Highly recommend if you are planning on showing up.

Great teacher! he explains everything clearly! his tests are not hard as long as you study and go to class. He has hw but they are easy worksheets, if you are not able to turn it in on time you have until the next class to turn it in for partial credit. He gets to know everyone so you are not jus another student.Best teacher at saddleback!

Really easy class. Video exercises in class so you have to come for those. HW is easy worksheets. Has a quiz and then midterm on first half of class info, then quiz and final on second half of class info. Zoo project (easy paper). Interesting class and really nice professor.

San diego zoo project 80 points mid term 80 pts final 80 pts... The hw points add up and he reviews the hw so take notes... A lot of note taking will be done here....Take lecture notes, study the notes, understand the notes, and be able to teach the material... you'll get an A

He is very helpful. I love his class. As long as you do his hw, you will be fine. Take him you never regret. He is the best anthropology insctructor in saddleback college. I'm second langauge student and I took anthropology 1 & 2 with him. He is so nice.

He's so cool. He's a very laid back guy and really cares about his students and their success. Minimal homework. Our final exam is going to a zoo and writing a paper on it. I would highly recommend his class.

What an amazing man. Rettele took over our anthro course after prof Merrifield passed, and he has done so flawlessly. I couldn't have asked for a better professor to continue teaching, and he deserves all the credit. His teaching style can be a bit scattered, but if you take your notes and pay attention the class is passable. Would recommend!

Professor Rettele is a great guy and will do anything in his power to help his students. His notes and lectures can be hard to follow sometimes, but if you dont understand something he will make sure to clear it up for you. I would highly recommend Brad and I look forward to taking cultural anthropology with him.

Really, really good teacher. He explains everything with great clarity and makes lessons interesting. Tests are relatively easy as long as you study and homework is interesting. Loads of extra credit to complete also. This class is really fun, I would recommend it to anyone.

Rettele's class was ridiculously EASY. He does have some sloppy issues when it comes to writing on the board, but everything he wants you to know is on the test. His teaching method is so easy to follow. I recommend this teacher to anyone, and anthro is such an easy subject! Overall one the the best teachers at Saddleback

Took over our class after Prof Merrifield passed away. He kept the class easy but wasn't as engaging as Merrifield. He gives an outline before each test which should guarantee you an A as long as you study.

Rettele explains things well. Study the notes and study guide and you'll be good for the quizzes and exams. Coming into the class I knew nothing about anthro. but Rettele made me interested in the subject. He is a funny and nice guy. Show up, do the work, study, and get an A.

Brad is a really easy professor. He writes out everything on the board and tests primarily on that information but does assign readings that you will be tested on. Super easy and helpful. Certainly going to take his Anth 2 class

He writes his notes on the board and when a test is coming up he will tell you exactly what to study. Does require you to read articles and answer questions on what you read. His class is overall easy to take. He is a great teacher.

Awesome professor! So far, my favorite at Saddleback! Lectures were very entertaining, he was humorous, and keep the class intrigued. Only wrote on the board info that would be on the test, and study guides matched all notes. Tests were easy, not much work in the class. Points for video questions and article. Great class!

Quite possibly the best teacher I've ever had. He's a great teacher who is always willing to help his students. His class was fun and entertaining - from the videos he showed to the lectures he gave, he made going to an 8am class enjoyable for me (which is saying a lot). Tests were on exact material he taught and one or two readings. Take him!

This is one of the greatest professors that I've had, and one of the greatest educators I've had. Prof. Rettele made the class fun. I didn't miss a class, and I didn't want to. The class very easy. This Professor was one of those Profs that make you have interest in a subject that you just took on a whim. Don't hesitate; take this Professor.

You should definitely go to class because there are mini movies that you get 5 points for I think just for being there. Definitely capable of getting an A. He clearly tells you how to do well in class so if you listen to him its do able. Show up to class, take notes, and do homework and you will be good to go. He doesn't try to trick you.

The most easiest class I have ever taken. I never showed up as he doesn't take attendance and managed to get an A. He assigns extra credit (up to 20 points) if you go to the tutor center and obtain a card that you went. Also, there is a zoo project that you have to complete. He brought candy & donuts on the last day of class- really nice professor!

Highly recommend this class if you need the credit or if you just want to learn. I loved attending class, the lectures are always super interesting and almost always shows an awesome video to go along with the lecture. Tests are straight forward, a couple of short answers, interesting material. Super cool, and really funny . Youll love it
