DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING WITH HIM!! I am not kidding!
He will ruin your self esteem and desire to learn. SEROIUSLY! Worst ever.
VERY hard, tons of work, and no knowledge
He is very hard, but I have learned the most in his class
Good if you want to learn!

Choose to pass...or drop the class
good teacher,
tough teacher, likes to teach as if he's teaching for the CGA. you come out better though than if you take a different teacher. don't say stupid stuff though, or he'll put you down.
I don't recommend him. He does NOT teach. He expects you to figure everything out on your own. Don't take him if you want to do well
not as bad as everyone thinks he is
Extreamly bad, don't take him, it will be a waste of money, you'll have to end up dropping it. He experts you to teach yourself the material.
Not for students who need their hands held. Brad expects you to work. For students mature enough, you're able to learn great skills, such as being responsible for your self and not blurting out garbage just to hear yourself talk.
You don't know what does he talking about, without notes, just talk, you have to write quick. very differicult.
i would not recommend this teacher to anyone.Good luck to students who are talking him.
This is the most worse teacher i never had, good luck to the students who still taking.
Worst teacher ever!
Don't take AUDITING with him because he is a bad instructor. He talks so fast that you are not enough to take note. He just talks and talks in class. To success in this course, depend on yourself. He would give you help.

The only thing i can say, is AVIOD THE KILLER TECHER, never been any class only 4 people over 60% on the midterm and 17 people below 50%. THIS IS SO UNFAIR.
Nice guy, but poor instructor. Gives out tonnes of hmwrk due the same day as projects and major midterms.
"mature responsible" bla bla bla. I AM a mature and responsible person. if you are taking accounting for a business/marketing program then don't take stats with sacho. he is a professor for people who actually want to/like to do this stuff. Take
He likes talking. If you are not familiar with your stuff, you cannot finish the exams.
Two things i learnt in class. Bloodly hell and shame on you. say that ALL THE TIME. Cram everything in 1 and half hour. Terrible lectures, always pretend he doesn't know wut he's talking about.(which he does). marathon exams.
He enjoys making everyone feel stupid....He is not a great teacher, but sometimes you will not have a choice but to take a class with him.

not a bad teacher, just expects you to learn on your own, prepares you for CGA, you can't expect someone to hold your hand the whole way through and tell you what to do, if you can't learn on your own then maybe you shouldn't be in accounting.
In my opinion the best teacher in the accounting program. Tells u what to study and doesn't bull**** with you.He explains things very well and clearly. It's up to you to learn and ask him questions. If you don't you'll fail.
He expects u to learn on your own. Killer exams. Not BAD for stat, but i wouldn't take him again.
He is very knowledgeable in Accounting. He talks too little about course materials but too much about other stuff. Basically he is a nice man and he wants students to learn actively and eagerly. If you are lazy, don't take his course.
worst teacher i ever had!!
Seems like and is a jerk. Doesn't care about students. Wants to make their lives hell! Doesn't teach anything, expects you to teach yourself. What the hell is he an instructor for then? Recommendation: Kwantlen Should fire him immediately!!!
Average Instructor...Not Bad, Not Great
damn! hard instructor…I had no choice...avoid him guys, if u can...damn hard instructor. Doesn’t teach in class, or course material, ..,exams bloody hard also so even though u study hard, nothing similar to the book, no guarantee at all that u pass the c
Worst ever, avoid this guy.
ONLY ONE SUGGESTION FOR ALL STUDENTS DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER EVER EVER.......WORST TEACHER OF THE WORLD SO PLEASE PLEASE DO'NT EVEN TRY HIM
worst teacher ever, don't know y kwantlen still keep this muthaphucka. he thinks we r like pro n shiietz..he expects we know thingz like 10 out of 10. we r here to learn muthaphucka, so teach properly or get da phuck out of the school..biaacchh
Doesn't really teach the course, but definitely gives fair exams.....if you study hard and do the homework he assigns, you can do good.
When I asked him for help, his reply was "It's too early in the semester to be concerned about your grade." Total A**hole, avoid at all costs.
DON'T TAKE ANYTHING WITH HIM. WORSE PROF. SHAME SHAME SHAME
ALL THE COMMENTS ARE TRUE, AVOID HIM.
Everything that was said about him was true. Why did I not listen? Avoid, avoid, avoid...
worst teacher ever do not take
Avoid at all means necessary, worst prof ever.
I don't know why Kwantlen still keep this "professor". He teaches you nothing and only cares about his busi.
I THINK SOME OF THE COMMENTS ARE NOT FAIR. WHEN I WAS TAKING 3310 HE ALWAYS OFFER HELP, BUT YOU GOT TO DO SOME RESEARCH FRIST. ALTHOUGH I DON'T GOT A GOOD GRADE FROM HIM BUT I LEARN FROM HIM. HE ONLY GOOD FOR THOSE HARD WORKING STUDENT.
Forget self esteem, if you have any left he will make sure to crush it. You have to work really hard for him, and probably even have to fail a few things. If you work hard and do EVERYTHING that he assigns, then you will do okay.
An instructor that don't beat around the bush or tries to please students. But he is fair and exams are exactly what he said you SHOULD learn. No tricks or gimmicks. Pretenders in the ACCT program can't expect the usual gimmee grades from his courses.
worst teacher ever
worst teacher ever.. doesnt motivate... DONT EVER TAKE HIM
Brad will help you if you ask and try. Do the work and quit complaining. You must do all the work and be willing to get some stuff wrong. He will correct you and give you his wonderful "soft marks". Talk in class, ask questions, and have a sense
brad is helpful - just doesn't hold hands. If you think his attitude is tough, wait until you take your 1st cga course...then you will know tough. instead of reading this or complaining...should be studying
no help whatsoever. self taught class.
I can't believe u people, this guy is a horriable teacher, I would have rather done the whole course on my own! This guy makes no sense, wastes 60% time over 3 questions, bad attitude. If you in this guys class you've just waste your $$$.findabetterprof!
can't believe what a bunch of whiners there are here....wait until you get a real job and then have to study...wake up children!

He's too obssessed with the Profile thingy. Never teaches how to do calculations manually. Students are confused by stupid sense of humor. Worst yet, always flies over the ans key for assignments. Never really have a chance to compare ans...
Doesnt teach, only facilitates. Never had a class where the teacher makes you feel stupiod when asking questions. The college must love him though, with all those student withdrawing and failing, its good money for the college.
most challenging teacher I've ever had. okay teacher if you don't mind listening to someone tell you that you don't know anything. no motivation to do well. if you have been debating whether to take his class, DON'T! you are better off becoming a welder!
Brad is straight forward and honest, he doesn't mince words he just gives you the straight goods. If a student cannont handle the truth they should not go to his class. The only problem people have with Brad is that he is not interested in being your friend, he is a teacher.
By far the hardest teacher that I have ever had. Doesnt even teach!! All he does is go over what we need to know and what we dont need to know, so pretty much u have to teach urself. Tests are very hard!! The worst teacher ever to take!!!
AHOLE by far, scribbles on board and does not help with problems at all but claims copyright protection makes him not print out solutions which is BS. he likes to waste your time. Avoid at all costs
Very difficult hard to understand. Occasionally funny but on the whole a prick just there to pick up a paycheck insults you, throughs out stats on how many will pass and how many will fail, gives you no sense of security
his final was super easy. all his exams are what he taught. try to take notes in the class and study them for exams, then u will do fine. sometimes he discourages his students but you should learn to take his comments as joke. if you practice problems in the chapters, you will get good grade.
Brad isn't there to be your friend, he is there to teach. He explains things pretty well, and will answer any questions. His tests are based on exactly what he has taught. He does say you are likely to fail, but if you pay attention, read the textbook, you should be okay.
His sarcasm and attmepts at jokes are the only things that fail more than his students. Constantly berating students and telling them that they will fail is not very helpful or encouraging for an introductory first year course.
brad's teaching in class has nothing to do with what he will test you on, it is a good idea to talk in his class but just so you know you will never have the right answer
Made people feel stupid, and when teaching was not very good at helping people understand. He knew his stuff, that was apparant, but was not very good at explaining things clearly and clarifying for students in an intro course trying to get the basics.
The Simon Cowell of Accounting. He is very arrogant, but extremely knowledgeable and is always willing to help. He is not interested in his students until they show interest in his course - do the homework!
AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID SUMONE NEEDS TO TALK TO THE DEAN ABOUT THIS GUY!
no comment. You guys already know what a nightmare this guy is. ASK ANY ACCOUNTING STUDENT!!
really disgusting..........mean, and arrogant, please never take his class! you will regret it and probably lose oyur money
gosh....if you want to kill yourself, go for it! he thinks he is the smartest! sure he knows his subject, but he is supposed to teach! everything he does in the class is he shows how smart he is and how stupid you are. never explains, messy notes, anad you are miserable!!!!!
WORST Teacher ever. On the first midterm, only six students got over 50%. Class average was 27%. Well, now you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out where the problem is. This clearly points to the fact that Brad cannot teach. Does not answer questions, is too worried about getting sued. wait a semester but DO NOT take SACHO,the PSYCHO.
Horrible teacher. Stay away. Has no passion, and weird sense of humour. Very strange person.
never use the "d word" (depreciation) in his class...you will regret it, believe me!!
if u in the accounting programme and want go for CGA then u have to take him. his exams r exactly the same as the home work.he potrays himself to b hard but isnt.if u in the acct programme he will be the perfect guide take him.he is good, not as bad as people potray him 2 b
he is not a good teacher .he explains every thing ...which will be totally unclear..his exams are really hard ....not very friendly....nota good teacher for teaching ..i donot know why hey are here
Brad, stop praising yourself by writing those nice comments about yourself. You need help, and prehaps take a course on how to teach properly. Like a lot of other students, I work hard for the tution fee, so stop messing up people's lives. You tell your students "Shame on you", well shame on you, because 80% of your students either drop out or fail
I wouldn't agree with most of these comments on here. Although he does discourage his students quite a bit, he is a very fair teacher, in regards to tests and homework. If you study the textbook and work through some of the questions, you should be fine. He does lighten up through out the year, after some students have dropped the course.Very Fair!
his test is right from txtbook problem #-B, nth tricky but ....only for students who took 1210 before coz .. i have no idea what he's teaching ...always says the txtbook is wrong and he's right ...well i m confused =0=
He is one of the best instructor I have ever had. I hope he won't retire soon; as I will be taking him for all my acct courses. His exams and marking is fair. It is true many students drop the course, but we as a student must work hard and should not just rely on instructor. I enjoyed my summer semester. He is the one to take. Brad the best.
BRAD SACHO - is guy is not a teacher material instructor. yes , i do agree that its not just about high gpa but knowing the material well but sacho is the most pathetic teacher i have ever come across my life. i have taken classes with laurette korman, Sepand jazzi n Clipton n these three are tough but they prepare n teach u well where as sacho
Im an A+ student. This mother f****er decreased my GPA big time.I lost my student loan.D ont take him.Waste of money and time.
From day 1 he is discouraging. His idea of teaching is blah blah blahing on the overhead and writing in illegible handwriting. Anyway the failing rate of this class is an indication of his teaching abilities. There is only so much u can teach urself. Plus we aint paying the kind of money we pay to be taught basically nothing. Watch ur GPA crash
I am surprised to read all comments. Why so negative. I had him for summer semester and the reason was that he was only instructor for this course teaching. I am glad I took his class and did not skip the semester due to other students suggestions. We as student should study hard and ask teachers for help. He helped me and everyone who asked.
Sacho thinks he is the genius of accounting! He makes Einstein looks like an idiot! The more student he fails, the better he feels! God help him!
God help me!
Try to avoid this instructor if possible. If not, do your homework and be prepared for tough exams with a lot of content.
Brad is a little bit on the insane side. I dunno whether to believe what he says or just consider him to be a nut. However, his classes do teach u to work hard and learn independently. Those skills will help me in the future. But otherwise, I'm scared for my life.
so i'm wondering with the prominent (who am i kidding, more like completely) negative comments on this page, why the hell is he still even teaching? Lord knows there are better accounting profs than him who actually want to be in a classroom. Sarcastic, rude, arrogant, boring & gives off a vibe that he clearly doesnt want to be teachin. Go Home!
BRAD IS VERY DISCOURAGING AND A BAD TEACHER. HIS TESTS R VERY HARD. HE'S A CRAZY MOTHERF*KER. I TOOK 3310 & 3335 W/ HIM & FAILED. I'M TAKING THEM AGAIN W/ ANOTHER PROFESSOR AND I'M GETTING 91%. HE HAS NO LESSON PLANS & EXPECTS U 2 LEARN ON UR OWN. WHEN U GO 2 HIM FOR HELP HE DOESNT ANSWER ANY OF UR QUESTIONS INSTEAD GETS U MORE CONFUSED.
Excellent teacher!!! The workload is intense but reasonable. He is very helpful when you have questions. So, don't be scared. If you want to learn something and be prepared for a career in public practice, you should take his class.
What to say about Brad...well, he kind of grows on you. Basically, everything he takes the time to mention 90% of the time ends up on the exams. You don't have to do homework, or read, or anything, but he'll make fun of you for it. He teachs you to be independent and take your future into your own hands. I'd say he is a good teacher.
I had the guy for all my ACCT courses, and he is the way to go if you want to be a CGA. Sure, he is arrogant, and can care less about you, but he is the smartest CGA around, and the most successful too. He makes sure that his knowledge passes down to his students, but you're the one who has to be willing to receive it.
his exams are very hard and test your memory, however he never tricks you. all tests are straight out of the book. he can be discouraging and makes fun of students. overall, average teacher. you must be a strong independant learner though.
He may looks very intimidating and arrogant, but once you get to know him he's very helpful. I've asked him a lot of questions about tax or just about accounting, he gave me a lot of useful advice. Excellent teacher if you're a hard worker.
He is beyond impossible. You have the read the chapter yourself, take your own notes, teach yourself, and then if you have any questions, he'll answer them. He does not lecture during class time; he just answers questions. If there are no questions, class is over.
REALLY BAD TEACHER
Not a good instructor.. u have to study all by urself.. and he doesn't respect students at all..
You do have to learn a lot by yourself but if you get stuck he is more than happy to help you. Nothing easy is worthwhile in the end.
He doesn't go thru the text & explain integral parts per se, expects you to read it, then opens the class up for questions: no questions, students go home. I was unimpressed with this: he's paid to teach AND answer questions. Plus side: audit case is a good learning tool, weekly midterms a good gauge, he expects a lot, but it's not impossible.
Can be a better teacher
Extremely difficult in both content and personality. I am a strong student and I killed myself to not do well. His teaching made me ill because he is unclear, unhelpful, rude and negative. The class time does not help prepare for exams. If you must take him prepare to study hard and completely on your own, and talk to him about your concerns.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. He doesn't not teach at all. during the entire samester we didn't go over a single page in the book.
Acts more like a guide rather than a teacher. Never goes over examples simply flips through the book and pointed to stuff we should learn. Rarely available for help outsite class time. Enjoys telling stories although time would be better served he if he actually attempted to teach the material. Would never take this professor again.
Good teacher, knows his stuff on tax, tries to be funny, sometimes is, is fair with his marking not easy but not hard either. I would suggest him, he's honest, and straight forward. One thing I didn't like is that he over emphasised the amount of people that would fail and tried to make the course soiund impossible before it even began.
Took 3310 and 3335 with him.not too bad.know his stuff.helpful outside class.fair unlike Laura dallas who flirts with white guys and gives tons of freakin'hw.he's a standard university prof.Being from workforce and a U-grad myself, his teaching is useful and comprehensive.although he should tone down on his "shame on you" and "you should be shot"
I took Brad for Acct 1210 and just made it with a C+. I took him for 3310 and 3335 last semester. I have had manu different prof's, and I can tell you he knows more than most. His tests and hw are not hard if you read the book and study. The people whining on this site obviously are not trying. I was one of them. Now that I try, he is a great prof!
I had one of highest marks in this class only cuz I had already taken this class once before. He marks homework, exams are hard. You won't learn just from his teachings, you must do alot of work on your own in order to learn the material. Good luck...study, study, study.
If you take a class with Brad, you should expect to spend a lot of time studying independently. He gives a general overview in class, and he expects you to learn the calculations and specific theory on your own. As long as you put in the time at home and practice a lot of questions, you will be fine. Don't worry. He's not as bad as what people say.
Doesn't teach anything at all.
I had this prof for part of a semester and it was probably the worst experience I've had so far. Doesn't teach the textbook material, insults students and just doesn't seem to care about students without A averages. Trust me...don't do this to yourself!
The worst teacher i have ever seen.
Painfully boring is an understatement. It doesn't get any worse than this.
HORRIBLE. I had him for part of a semester and it was the worst couple of weeks at Kwantlen I've ever had. If he asks a question you better know the answer or he'll threaten to pull out a welding application for you. I don't know how someone this bad can still be teaching.
This is a self study class, he will get you started but you have to figure everything on your own. He starts out grumpy but softens up as the semester moves along. He is very knowledgeable and helpful, especially at the end. Remember that you might end up working for someone like Brad so get use to it.
Brad's teaching style is what you would find at larger universities: covering main concepts only. The specifics and tedious calculations are your responsiblity to learn on your own. This is a self-directed class and he will not hold your hand. If you do the self-study problems and Brad's assigned questions, you will be fine. Study and do questions.
VERY HARD..DOES NOT GIVE YOU NOTES AND BORING
DO NOT take him. He is the worst teacher that I have. He didn't teach, and he didn't show the correct answers at all. How does school allow this bad apple here? Wast our money and study by ourselves. Hate him!!
Dont take him..otherwise prepare to teach yourself..he wont give any guildlines for the exams..taxation is hard though.
I've read a lot of reviews before taking him in the summer, and people exaggerate the difficulty. This guy is great. He allows you to phone him during reasonable hours to get help, and tells you exactly what you are doing wrong. Just learn the rules in the textbook, it's that simple. If you do you'll get an good mark.
He's one great PROF out there at kwantlen!! I don't know why people think he is hard. If you put in the time and study you can easily end up with an A in his class, all you need to do is study. He explains the concepts really well in class and is always available for help!! I would recommend this teacher to everyone!!
i think that people give Brad a bad rap. He really wants his students to do well but he's not going to spoon feed you. He's got a wicked funny sense of humor and anyone who complains sbout him is a baby.
Took this class awhile ago! The prof is very smart and cares about his students. Difficult material to just get into, but Brad definitely tries to make you succeed!
Brad presents the material clearly and has a great sense of humour. I am thoroughly enjoying this class and hope to take the next Auditing class with him. If you can memorize, you can get an A!
Terrible. Had him for only 1/4 of a semester and it was horrible. I don't know how anyone could handle him for a full one. He's arrogant and constantly insults students...don't really know why he even teaches. Don't participate if you don't have the right answer. Pick another prof, nobody needs this stress.
I am a CGA and I will tell you honestly he is one of reasons why I decided to pursue accounting. I dropped out of my first accounting class wondering what was going on. I took another with Brad and was hooked. Accounting is not for everyone but Brad knows what it takes to pass the CGA exams and get those initials. He is a valuable tool indeed!
had brad for audit 2 and it was horrible. he always insults students, telling them to be welders because they didnt know the answer to a question. didnt learn much. spent so much time on the cga ceproc- i dont even want to be a cga! dont waste your time and money
Worst Prof I've ever had. You may as well go to CRA and ask them to teach you tax, they'll probably do a better job. All Brad teaches is how to use tax software ... which you can't use for the test. Very condescending and demeaning towards students telling them to be welders because "accounting isn't their bag." Save yourself $500 and avoid!!!
Worst. Prof. Ever. Avoid this guy at all costs. Most student UNfriendly teacher I've ever had. Won't answer students questions, he says "It is your duty to find out". If you ask him to repeat something he just said, he won't, tells you "find out from a classmate". Like others have said, he always puts down students and tells them to be welders.
SUCHHH A TERRRIBLE professor! He should quit and stay as an accountant. He knows accounting, but when it comes down to teaching, its a waste of time if your gonna attend his class. Basically the textbook is what got me through his course. Only 3 people passed his course in my class, no on had an A, I had a C+ and the other 2 had B's. Shame on him..
This is not a easy course, especially taught by Brad. 2/3 of the class disappeared after two midterms. And the midterm average was under 50%. However, if you are really hard working student and can read and understand every single page in the textbook and able to teach yourself. You may pass this course. Otherwise, learn from other professor!
Very smart guy but a terrible professor. Wastes so much class time telling us we are dumb, how we will never pass and that his 10 year-old grandson is smarter. Study the textbook, do the QS and exercises, and you will be fine. Tough marker. Anyone who passes should get a t-shirt that says "I survived Sacho".
I just had to drop this course because of him. I took him before for Financial Acc and had to switch sections, as I realized that he was trying to make the class harder than needs to be. The whole class, he talked about accounting, just didn't TEACH anything. Doesn't do problems in class. Should be fired from Kwantlen. Avoid at all costs!
pretty good instructor, have him for tax and audit. so far really enjoy his audit class. tax midterm so easy it is insulting.quizzes are tricky though. Not as bad as people make him out to be.
poor quanlity ever
Everybody says he's bad, I didn't believe he was that bad so I gave it a shot... 13/21 ppl failed after MT1 including myself, 1st time ever in my life at Kwantlen!! Sacho throws everything at you (ie study everything and pray for a pass). It doesn't work if you don't teach students nothing about Auditing! Show me how to apply the goddamn concepts!
Not everybody can teach!
Took Tax with Philpott and he was so lazy, i am taking it with Brad now and even though it is a hard course i am at least learning something!!
He didn't teach u much, and you have to read the textbook b4 the class, then you will know what he is talking about. Midterms are easy tho. As long as you know how to do the problems at the end of every chapter, you will get a high grade, final is a bit harder.
He might seem hard, but in reality he is really not. He will challenge you like any teacher should, and if you have the determination to persist through the grind, there is NO chance he will fail you. Read the book and know how to do the exercises/problems. I mean cmon, did you honestly expect to pass without knowing how to do the course material?
Understanding the concepts/theory in the textbook is essential to passing the course. Don't expect to have the whole book taught to you in class, it is impossible to cover that much material in that little time. At the very least he covers the major concepts in each chapter. If you understand the concepts/theory, how could you possibly fail?
Tax I might seem to be a hard course, and Brad might not seem to be helpful or friendly, but if you do read the textbook before and after class, you will learn something. If you do practices at home, do assignments, tryout profile, and check out CRA's website, you should pass the course with no doubt. Routine review of the materials is important.
doesnt teach, gives negative marks the whole class dropped out after the first mid term. Terrible teacher avoid at all costs
I regret to miss all these comments about him. Before this class, I don't think it's necessary to check a teacher's rating. After this, it's a must. I've jumped from a 'above 90' to a 'below 30' student. He doesnt teach but asks u to review previous courses or sit in lower level classes. I have nothing more to say but AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!
Horrible teacher. Doesn't bother to help students and expects them to go sit in lower level classes to review material that students don't remember. After the first midterm, 16 kids dropped the class and the highest mark on the midterm was 74%.
Brad is smart and has realworld adv. His thinking is slow+methodical but doesn't teach that way. Lecture notes=scattered(disorganized)+whips through mat Him+textbook=incomplete+poor examples Assumes u all know common Acct practices He lets u drown; may teach u how to swim later, if ur still alive 29Failed of 35=83% F, passing includes C-
Brad deserves more credit then he gets. For starters, he runs weekly tutorials that for some reason no one attends. There is way more material in tax then he can cover in a 3 hour lecture so either way the textbook is our teacher and he helps guide us. He uses CRA forms on the test which make things easier and gives us real practical experience.
Worst teacher ever!!! Stay away from taking any class with him, if you can. If you do take a class, plan on a lot of work and the worst grade you have ever had. I hated every minute of every class i took with him. Switch programs, or schools!!!
He focuses on the textbook, no essential point, no PPT, no handout document, i just can say work hard.
awesome teacher, lets you bring in anything from the cra website for exams, you can print any cra tax guide/form and bring it in, if you cant understand simple instructions you will not like him.
Should hav listened to everyone here on RMP before. He is seriously horrible. No notes, always puts down all the students. If we dont do something right, he says shame on all of you. Avoid him at all costs, half class failed in 1st mt, 43% avg 2nd mt, and there was almost noone left in the class after. Do yourselves a favor and wait another sem.
If you want to actually LEARN tax, take it with him. Took tax with Sacho two years ago before starting CA program and everything I learned has stuck with me since, more than I can say for most of my profs at KCU. If you cant do well in this class, goodluck with a designation.
Tax is a hard course (law, rules, and exceptions.) Brad expects 20 hrs. per week to achieve a decent mark. Practice and search for answers: PPt, tax program and additional practice questions on CD are very helpful. Learn, practice and bring CRA printouts and form for exams. Without studying, you would not pass this class. An A is attainable.
waste of time.. waste of money .. run far, run fast
Taxation is hard but Sacho makes it easy. You don’t need to remember too much from text book since you could bring any authority materials to your exam. Midterm is hard but final is much easier! For all the exams, you just need to fill in the forms! Put the number into the correct cell. That's it. Very simple and useful.
I don't understand why people dislike him so much. At first he can seem a bit intense, but his exams are pretty easy if you read the textbook, and don't miss a class. Classes are short, and he teaches you how to actually audit. Great prof!!
It will not be the end of the world if you are stuck with him. When he said you need to put in at least 20 hours a week, he wasn't kidding. His lectures mainly show you the big picture of the tax system, so you'll have to study the little details in the textbook yourself. His exams are reasonable, you will not see a thing that's not in the text.
He is a hard prof no doubt. Do great in his Tax class and he offers you a job at his public practice - what other prof does that? Sure he is a tough marker, but you will actually learn the material. I ended up with an A+ in his Audit class and a B in his Tax class.
Not as bad as he's made out to be. In class, he basically lectures about the big picture of the tax world, and your responsible for learning the detailed calculations and how to work through problems. A lot of what he talks about in class, does indeed show up on the tests, so pay attention. Devote your life to this course. And he's super hilarious.
Brad is super straight forward and if you do the homework (which is not mandatory)and use Profile, his tests are easy. I like how he works from the tax jacket so the class content is applicable and relevant. He is vocal about how he doesn't expect anyone to memorize anything and we can bring in any material we want for the tests.
Worst acct teacher ever!!
He is so disrespectful towards his students and assumes that everyone is as smart as him. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROF!!
Brad is one of the hardest instructors I've ever had. You have to work really hard and be diligent to pass. Other than that, he is someone who knows his stuff and seems to have a passion for teaching accounting. I recommend him if accounting is your major and if you are willing to go through hell to really understand the materials he teaches.
When I first read Brad's reviews on here I was worried. Im an A student, but I though Audit would be hard as everyone on here says. He is acutally pretty easy on his tests. All I did was read the textbook and got an overall A++. Just don't be lazy and you will do fine. This class is much easier than acct 3110 or 3320. Its all memorization.
Brad is very kind & funny sometimes. Taxation is very complex but Brad teaches it in a very interesting way. To do well, you have to STUDY REALLY HARD & put in A LOT OF TIME. I disagree with students who are saying that he's mean & unprofessional. Don't hate the teacher just because you have poor listening skills & no common sense.
Brad's Tax course seems easier than other instructor's, but it is still very difficult. He does not teach much and just sort of skis over things. He teaches Audit well, but should stick to that instead of tax 1. You don't really learn anything about tax since isn't much course content during the 3 hours of class. Lets you bring anything from theCRA
If you want to learn some Knowledge instead of just passing the course, take his class but get prepare for the challenge
Most disrespectful, least helpful teacher I have ever taken. Would refuse to answer questions, says finding out where you went wrong is your job. Really seemed to resent being there. Asked for help with a problem during break once and was lectured to about breaks being for him to relax. Condescending and unprofessional. Lectures are pointless.
I had Brad as my accounting teacher for 1110, 1210, 3310, and 3335 a few years ago. I owe his teaching style to my success as a CPA, CGA working as a CRA auditor. His courses were a reality check and prepared students to take ownership of their education and career. If you want to be a success in your career, Brad ensures that you make it happen.
Not much to say about this class... besides Christie Clark and welding. His notes are awful. Tests and assignments aren't that hard.. but you're going to have to read the textbook
I owe it to Brad for my knowledge in the audit and assurance world. He is a great prof in instilling real-world knowledge for you to know once you get out of school. If you're looking for an easy way out Brad is not the guy for you, if you're looking to learn something and advance your knowledge highly recommend!!
He is not bad actually. In class quiz every time. Practical tax act focus!
This class can be stressful towards the end of the semester. Make sure to pair up with a friend or two and dont skip the weekly homework nor classes. Audit 2 was so different than Audit 1. You actually got to edit a company and it was truly fun! if you really want to learn and expand your audit knowledge, take him!!!
Great Prof. Easy A
Had a great time in his class. Very nice and very helpful. Great 1210 Prof easy A
Oh my god. He's such a good teacher.
Do yourselves a favour and take this class with another prof.
He gives out exit quizzes every class to make sure you pay attention to the lecture; gives lots of examples to practice with and to help make the material relevant; If you do not participate, you're only hurting yourself by not asking questions. People say he's harsh but he is a really good teacher. He takes the time to clarify any misunderstanding
What kind or prof marks quizzes as either 0 or 100%? Even if you get a single mistake, your work becomes non-satisfactory which makes no sense at all. Does he really think students are not aiming to get perfect on their marks? Of course we are aiming to get perfect marks but we are all human, we make mistakes sometimes. Why give 0 if we do our best
one mistake on quizzes, he gives a zero. He rushes through examples on profile(which he doesn't teach us how to use) and you don't have time to comprehend what he just did. he cares in the sense he wants us to apply the knowledge to real life (CRA forms) but he doesn't really teach us how to use these forms.
Brad is a straight forward prof. He expects his students to work hard (as you would in real life) in order to achieve good marks. Intro tax can be a challenging class but if you follow his detailed pre-reading outline and complete your homework you should be fine. Also, he has exit quizzes which are an easy 10% for your total course credit.
Brad is a professional guy. He knows his stuff and does'nt want you to just have theoretical knowledge. Practical tax focus ! You will learn this course better and score an A+ if you can help yourself understand concepts and apply them in profile to prepare a tax return. Highly recommended.
Know how to use ProFile A+. Don't know how to use or not willing to learn ProFile take it with someone else. That's all. If you know how to use ProFile, GPA booster. If you don't, don't take his class. All quizzes, homework, tests, and final are done through the ProFile software.
Worst prof ever. Does not do a good job explaining. Is all over the place, no organization what so ever. He is so mean. Be prepared to Fail.
If you already know how to use Profile you'll probably be okay. If not, he has no interest in teaching you. Every class he will 'test' you on random things said in lecture (which often have nothing to do with tax AT ALL) and if you get ANY of the answers wrong you get 0. And he's rude. Says if you can't just figure it out you should be a welder.
He will talk some info out of the class and it is very dull, but the exam can bring any paper except the book or copy of the book. And the final exam will test all of the acct 2235 and acct 3335 so that it is very tough to get a high mark expect you good at doing the tax bill.
Throw questions in class and NOT answer but tested. If you did not take his intro tax or have no prior experience in ProFile, avoid! The quiz aforementioned by students is unreasonable: one question wrong you get zero. Final: One T1, two T2, MC. Run out of time. Save your tuition/time and learn ProFile when you work don't risk your education.
Brad prepares you for real life. The end of class quizzes forces you to pay attention because he literally gives you the answers during the lecture. The quiz policy is to reinforce that if you make a mistake on tax returns, you will be at the mercy at the mercy of the CRA. Pay attention, be proactive, and ask for help and you'll do just fine.
Quizzes every class; any answer wrong you get 0%. Very rude. Likes feeling smarter than students vs helping them learn. Told us last part of midterm showing work was optional; didn't mention he would deduct marks if blank. Deliberately unclear on grading criteria. He goes on this website so be skeptical of high ratings with very similar wording.
He is honest to say that he is here to fail student. He is not helpful to student and assume you know the ProFile program and didn't have any tutorial for this tax program. If you want to challenge yourself and risk your grade, go ahead and take his course
If you do the practice exercises from the textbook, you will be fine. Yes, he uses Profile when showing the class how to fill out the jackets, but its not hard to fill it out on paper. He tells you what questions to practice for the tests and gives you the forms. 1st midterm was pretty hard, but you can make up your grade with the 2 quizzes.
Tough class overall because it's tax, but he is practical so he will give real life examples of how cra will handle things. As long as you are efficient with ProFile, then you will be fine because you will have to fill out a T2 form by hand. If you have struggle with ProFile you won't have time to finish your midterm, quizzes and final
its taxation and you better be ready to practice thousand times. Otherwise you wont survive from this course. Its pretty hard though.
Tax is a dry and difficult subject. However, learning how to use ProFile in his class helped me secure my first co-op job (it was similar to the firm's software). I did not mind his quizzes because it made you pay attention to the lecture. He's definitely not a hand-holder. As long as you do your readings, he won't complain.
Taking Brad's class for taxation courses is one of the best things you can do to yourself but only if you want the actual knowledge and insight into taxation world. If you want to just pass the course then probably take some other professor. Be ready to put in your hard work and get the deep understanding of the topics he covers in class.
Does not explain content well. Poor teaching skills.
I'm not even done the class but this is the worst teacher I have ever taken. Especially in the coronavirus pandemic he only gives 40 mins for a EXAM ! this is in two parts of 20 mins which is ridiculous because he wants no one to cheat but 40 minutes is ridiculous for 15 mc and 7 numerical quest. Plus his online class is only one hour of lecture?!
He's a nice guy, but nice does not help you pass this class. You're expected to read the textbook and teach yourself. His "lectures" are more confusing than just reading the textbook. Each mini exam is 20% which makes up your entire grade, and these mini exams are just as difficult. Take another professor if you can. This professor just isn't good.
I'm sure he's a much better prof for in class courses, but he's astoundingly horrid in the current online only environment. The lectures are fine. The course is graded on 5 exams, each worth 20%. Due to his exam format, current class averages are 44.88% on exam #1, 60.33% on #2, and 21.08% on #3 (written today), for a 41.45% course-to-date average.
Brad is not a bad prof but, is trying to set up "fair" tests that keep a balance between not letting students cheat and making it cover what needs to be covered. His grading for the course consists of 4 mini exams worth 20% each (avg 200 pages). The numerical is fair enough but the mcs are trivial. class avgs are lower than any class I've seen.
If you actually listen to him and go over the questions from class & skim through the chapters before the exams, there is no way you will fail. Only thing you are really marked on are the 3 mini midterms. Brad is very caring if you show him you are genuinely interested in learning. If you ask questions & email, there's no way you'll fail either!
Brad has 5 mini exams each worth 20% of your grade, which are very difficult to do and understand. He is not good at all at explaining the course material and he expects you to learn on your own. Please save your money and dont take this prof.
Brad is OK. Not the best prof I've had but certainly not the worst. Five short exams worth 20% each consisting of MCQs, numerical questions, and T1 tax returns done in ProFile. MCQs are impossible and average on them is incredibly low. Numericals and T1s are easy. Do the problems he covers in the videos and you'll do very well in the non MCQ parts.
Probably the worst class I have ever had. You have to work 100% by yourself. Boring lectures. Please save your money and find a better prof.
Im sure hes much better in person. However, he is not that good of a prof online. I could have easily passed even without attending lectures. The textbook and online practice is what saved me in this class. However, he is nice and exams are easy if you know your stuff.
One of the best profs, caring, passionate about teaching, knows what he is doing, super organized, well prepared, does his homework, excellent planner, hardworking. would love to take him for all courses!
He is a nice guy, and would probably be great in class. However online, he gives very short, and lacking in detail lectures. He skims over the chapter and quickly demonstrates one or two practice questions from the text. If you take this class with him, be prepared to learn all the material and master it by yourself.
If you care about your money and GPA, then choose anyone else but him... He repeats himself multiple times and doesnt have anything useful to teach you. He goes over a couple of questions horribly and tells you to use the learning centre to actually get someone to teach you his course. He made this course harder than what it should have been.
Save your time and money before taking this prof. His lectures are tedious and boring, and he tends to go off topic constantly. His exams are excessively difficult with barely any time to complete them and it doesn't help that he can barely teach to prepare you for them. If you take this course, get ready to struggle teaching yourself everything.
Brad teaches the material well and helps pinpoint parts that you need to focus on. He is also very willing to help with questions. The testing format online is abit on the harder side as it is strictly timed however if you are willing to learn the material and commit some time the tests are quite simplistic. They are usually about 60/40 MC/Numeric.
He does not provide any sort of powerpoint slides, notes. Nothing. He spends the three hour class showing you how to use Profile. He does not teach theory, calculations, nothing! You will be teaching yourself.
This class is heavily based on teaching yourself. The entire class is spent learning how to navigate Profile. There is no assistance besides learning what is taught during lecture. If you are a Mac user you will need a PC to use the Profile software so keep that in mind. Try taking this course with another instructor if you can.
Very very hard, no time even to submit the work.
Brad has impossible-to-follow lectures, no slides/powerpoints, and is not prepared to teach this course. Everyone wants to drop out. Everyone is complaining about wasting money on this course. He doesn't care about the course or helping students succeed. A true testament to how bad teachers at KPU can be.
he is actually so rude. tests and homework are very difficult and he does't even teach you properly. smh i am scared to do accounting now. avoid him at all costs.
very rude and doesn't respect his students.
needs to fix his attitude and work load. does not teach properly either. choose anyone else but him
No notes provided. Overall, the course was really hard to pass. with limited evaluation. As per help, he asked us to go through textbook then examples. if we have any questions we should contact learning center. He made it clear the first class that he should be contacted only after students have met with tutors.
Does not create an inspiring class environment at all. Negative attitude and has no solid schedule in lectures. Redirects students to the learning centre instead of offering help. Do not take at all.
Please do not take this professor. Teaching skills are inadequate, and doing well in this course is a far cry. Classes have no structure and note taking is hard to follow as there are no slides. I have no doubt Brad may be a great accountant, but he is not a good teacher for intro students. Avoid at all costs.
I don't care too much about his attitude. Here are tips for you to survive: Read the textbook, take notes carefully, memorize the formulas (he don't allow cheat sheet in exam), do the excercises on Wiley Plus and in the textbook, master in using BAII Plus financial calculator, and those would help you success for 60% (at least).
Profile is so easy. It is like data entry. You don't even have to do any calculations like in ACCT 2335. If you can do Profile you will pass. This course is good for busy people because of the recorded videos. 5 mini exams. Each exam is worth 20%. The exams are not even cumulative, so studying is easy. Each exam is 2-3 chapters.
I do not recommend this professor at all. he does not teach the course material. you will have to do everything on your own.
He doesn't teach. Covers maybe 10% of material in class, then lists the topics we should know. His approach "read all of the textbook, do all the exercises", I don't know what value he adds to just studying on your own. In addition, he constantly makes condescending remarks about students nowadays.
One of the worst professors you will ever get. Would rather suggest taking a drop from the semester than taking his class. 99% of the students does not they get the correct answer to the homework questions but does not even bother to help them or even ask where we went wrong. Expect us to go to tutors even though he is getting paid to teach us.
JUST DONT TAKE HIS CLASS. SAVE YOUR MONEY.
Very poor teaching skills. Halfway through the course he told the class if we were struggling we should just drop instead of him offering to help. Poor technology skills, doesn't answer any questions until end of lecture because he doesn't keep the window open. Also this course was based on 4 tests and that's it. 30%, 10%, 10%, 50% weights.
