he was a really good teacher. Made the class interesting but you really do need to read the book or else you wont get too good a grade. Doesnt give multiple chose but he gives you a handout before the test to tell you what you will be tested on.
Cool guy. You have to read for the exams, but he gives you a handout of what will be on the exam. the handout really helps.
This guy, in my opinion, is the best history teacher at IVC (and one of the best overall). He is hard though, at first I hated his arse cause I had to study like 13 hours per test to get a guaranteed A (for all 4 tests)..but then I realized that he is just a very good teacher. He is also a very nice guy, and his lectures are VERY VERY INTERESTING.
The teacher's lectures are easy to understand. At times they are interesting, but the only thing he grades are the four test gives which are essays! :( Never really use the book, its all on your own, hard class to pass, I wouldn't reccommend.
HE IS AWESOME! Seriously, the class is very interesting, and he's always there if you need his help. He's fun! But, you have to read (you can get completely lost) and you have to study hard for the tests. His study guide helps you a lot, and gives it to you ahead of time. Ask Q's if stuck!
Greatest History teacher i have ever had, that is because he was the hardest teacher i have ever had!! learned a lot! i feel that i can teach history 121! But wat sucked was the hours and hours of studying!
He really is a great teacher. He explains everything and is really into the subject. However, if your not a great notetaker (like me) then this class will be hard. There is no extra class work, just tests that are all short answer (a paragraph long) and then an essay question.
Excellent teacher. Class is actually very interesting (esp. for a lecture class). Pretty down to Earth guy, fair in his grading. His tests can be a little difficult, but if you show up to class, take notes and study - you will be fine.
NOT EASY YOU DO HAVE TO STUDY BUT YOU ACTUALLY LEARN. HE LECTURES ALL THE TIME HE SAYS EVERY DETAIL IN HISTORY LIKE IF HE WAS THERE,SO IF ITS A TOPIC YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN YOU CAN GET REALLY BORED.I GOT A C BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE THE BOOK BECAUSE YOU DO KIND OF NEEDED, TO STUDY FROM IT.
Best History Teacher Ever! Not to mention He is fun and make you feel like he was there on war or w.e. he is teaching you :) Very helpful if you go talk to him. You don't really need the book but you DO have to pay attention to his class and take notes so you can pass the exams :) Very easy if you are a good student and you like to learn.
First time I havnt slept in a history class. If u don't want to read, leave. Please. He is funny and very passionate about what he teaches.
Very uptight. And you cant ever tell who he is actually lookin at.
I hated history up until I took his class. He is interesting, fun, and a great teacher. If you are a slacker you wont make it.. Read, Pay attention, and write A LOT on the essays. Great teacher, great guy ! :)
The teacher stands in front of the class and lectures for the class period. If you pay real close attention in class, you don't have to read the book at all. Hes an easy test grader but a lot of studying required. He gives study guides. Makes the class interesting and is funny. Some work on your part can easily get you an A.
There are 4 tests throughout the semester. He gives a study guide for each and the answers are in the lecture notes. He gives an outline every class.
Dr. Wright is one of the best teachers at I.V.C., at least in my opinion. He makes history very interesting and relatable. He is super knowledgable and loves history. Come on, the man has even come out on the History Channel-how many teachers can you say that about. Just can't say enough about the guy. Highly recommended.TAKE NOTES!
One of the best profs that IVC has to offer in terms of clarity and the total sense of immersion he provides his students when discussing the subject he so clearly is very passionate for. Dr. Wright will provide you with everything needed to pass but it all very much boils down to the student. Attend every class meeting, take notes, and have fun!
Note taking is VERY important in this class. He will usually give out a study guide 2 weeks prior to his tests and I recommend that time be USED to study! His tests are essays which I hated @ first but learned to love them he does not grade them too hard. So caution to those who don't study because it is required in this class! Great teacher.
History Genius.. You really feel like you earned the grade he gives you. Take lots of notes and pay a lot of attention! Pretty kickback class where you actually learn!
If you enjoy lectures and taking notes, this is the class for you! He pretty much lectures the ENTIRE time and shows a movie here and there. I'm not a history enthusiast, so it was VERY boring for me. His exams are entirely essay questions, so be prepared to WRITE in this class!!!
Mr. Wright is extremely passionate about history and makes it easy to learn in his class. The lectures are based on the essay questions from on the study guides to the tests. Take notes and study study study. Other than that he is so cool and it is easy to learn in this class.
If you come to class and take good notes you will good.
He lectures, you take lots of notes and study for the tests because the tests are the only thing that count towards your grade.. His teaching method is cliché but there's something in the way he talks that everything just sticks and if you pay attention, you only need to briefly review for the tests. He is very funny and it's a great class to take!
Mr. Wright is a very passionate professor, he makes great connections that help you understand the content. Not an easy class but you will learn a lot, specially if you are into history. There are four written tests for which he will give you study guides and a couple of 3-5 page essays.
Loved his method of teaching. I HATED history. After taking his class I found a love for the subject and learned so much. His tests are challenging, however if you take as many notes as possible, while he lectures, then you should have no issue getting a B (worst case scenario). Took his 111 class and then his 120 because I enjoyed him that much!
One of the best professors at IVC. He has a way of teaching that makes the lectures stick to you. I can honestly say that because of him i grew a passion for history! I loved his class! Awesome teacher! Really recommend him.
He teaches very clearly. He does have strict rules, but they are not hard to follow them and if you do then you have nothing to worry about. It is important to attend class because he doesn't use powerpoint and it is important to take notes because anything he says can be on the test. He is a great teacher with great understanding of the subject.
DO THE STUDY GUIDES AND STUDY! The tests must be written with as much description possible which may seem hard but if you go to class he makes jokes here and there that will stick with you. I'm not much of a history person but I would take his class again. His grading criteria is easy so you know what grade you have in the class.
He engages you in the subject, I've taken two history classes with him and they've been a great learning experience. All you need to pass the tests is to take notes and pay attention during class. Notes are essential for your grade.
Mr. Wright was the best professor and teacher I've ever had in my life. His lectures are comparable to action movies. The lectures are filled to the brim with details and suspense. His tests are unique because their paragraph answered tests, however, the information stays with you because of it (I've found). Take this teacher. You won't regret it.
No matter what your stance is on History, you will take in what he has to say about it. Great lectures. I like him so much I'm taking him for 121. To pass the class you must show up, take notes on what he is saying and do the study guides. BAM! No homework or required reading. Beware, if you can't detach yourself from your phone dont take his class
I think he was a great professor, he loves to teach history and makes it very interesting I highly recommend him !
Mr. wright is a great professor he really cares about history although he gets irritated with every little thing. Tests are heavy not multiple choice and have to write an essay in each but you will learn in the class!
Seems quite uptight. Be careful about entering and exiting while class is in session. Fair grader.
His lectures are fun and interesting but you need to take good notes. He hands out a study guide for every test. I strongly recommend to use it. The tests are in essay format not multiple choice.
Really good history teacher! He is pretty strict, but you will learn a lot. His tests consist of a free response with one essay. At the end of the semester you need to write a 5-7 page essay on his book. He provides a study guide for his tests and if you take good notes and read the book you will do great.
Easily the best professor I have ever had. Super straightforward as to what the class will be, which is normally four essay-based tests and depending on what class you take a short paper. His lectures are both engaging and entertaining, in a dry witty way. If IVC brings back Research Topics in History I highly recommend that, that was my favorite.
This guy is a great professor, he makes you work for a good grade but honestly, it's not uncalled for. He gives you all the material you need in class, just pay attention. He's funny, nerdy and makes the class interesting.
Great spirited lectures, makes the subject really interesting. Study guide shows you more of less exactly what is going to be on the test, it is up to you to prepare. He does get bothered by little things (ie. people interrupting his lectures) but other than that he is great.
He makes his class so tough.
Makes you read his book which in my opinion is boring and should not be allowed to be assigned. I signed up for a US History class, not a comic book class. I have 0 interest in comic books and am having a hard time grasping why comic books are implemented in this class.
Great professor, straightforward, easy going. Just don't be late or text during class; it really bothers him and he will call you out. Gives out study guides for all exams. Two books required. Easy class if you are willing to do some work. Pay attention in class and have good notes. One of the best professor I've had so far.
This is a lecture heavy class, but an entertaining one. Wright makes the hour and a half class fly by with the way he explains the subject. Only homework was 2 short essays all semester and read each chapter ahead of class. Although, just going to class and paying attention to the lecture got me a B.
Awesome teacher. I don't like history much but this guy makes it fun and interesting. I'd definitely take a class with him again.
I enjoyed this class a lot. He made history interesting. Do not be late to his class and do not plan on showing up just to not pay attention. The tests are essay format but as long as you take good notes and pay attention, the tests are not hard. Office hours were also very helpful if you have any concerns he is very understanding and helpful.
He makes you buy his own published book..
Professor Wright is really rude.
Wright is now one of my favorite prof, his lectures are long but interesting and funny, he treats all his students like adults, and is over all a good prof. and guy. You only need to read four books and they're all interesting, yes one of them is his, but its actually good plus who wouldn't plug their own book? I would definitely take him again.
I would definitely take him again. He really knows his stuff and his lectures are very interesting. As long as you put in the effort into paying attention and studying, then there's really no problem. You'll definitely learn in this class.
Professor Wright is amazing. I really enjoyed his class and lectures. If you dont miss class and take good notes, youll pass. In case you miss class, make sure to ask someone for notes
Unprofessional, smug, and rude behavior. Poor people skills. You are required to read his published book about comics, which is boring, considering some do not like comic books, and it only appears vaguely related to history. Not recommended to take this class if you take the bus. He doesn't like anyone to be late or to leave early to catch a bus.
The class is an easy class, however, Bradford tends to make it more than it really is. If you read the course book, and his personal book - if required - you should be fine. Overall, he only has 4 exams in which he grades you on, already including the midterm and final, and a research paper. Everything revolves around writing! Not for the weak!
Dont miss any lecture comes in handy for the test. Hives a study guide 2-3 wks before exam study it thats basically the exam. Goopd story teller not boring at all. Loved his class best history teacher hands down and i hate history this was my last chance to pass would always get Fs. His amazing.
Mr. Wright was an excellent teacher, he spends majority of his class meetings lecturing but always tries to keep the material interesting and appealing. He keeps the class light-hearted and funny. As long as you listen to the lectures and take lots of notes of everything he says, the tests are fairly easy. Need good study habits for this class.
Bradford was a really good professor. His lectures are very specific and none of his exams are tricky, just make sure to understand each of the key terms in the study guide and look for them while you take notes during class. He doesn't leave any homework, we only had to do a paper in the middle of the semester. Just make sure to never skip class!
Took his class on campus before online transition. His lectures were so detailed and perfectly explained. He values hard workers and knows when you try. Willing to work with you and cares about you. He always updates you and he is a great guy. Wish I could take his course again. As long as you do every assignment, you'll pass :)
This class is a nightmare if you take it online. Professor Wright seems like a nice guy but he acts like if we dont have 24 hours per day to dedicate to him, then we shouldnt take his class. He sets up his assignments so that you cant work on them on the weekends, so look for another class if you want an online class to take around your schedule.
Bradford was a great professor, he seemed to care about his students but was also not a pushover. He had 3 weekly assignments(2 discussions & 1quiz)that require you to read the book but honestly, you don't have to, just site from it. His exams were long discussion questions and were fairly easy as well. I would 100% recommend him to other students.
Professor Wright is an exceptional instructor. His class was challenging but rewarding. This class is not by any means an easy A, but if you do the work youll pass. His online class was not the usual online class at IVC. He has a class schedule similar to a traditional irl class. If you require flexibility, this class probably is not for you.
Excellent professor, hes very passionate on what he teaches. Its really important to read the book and put in as much effort in your discussions, if so youll be okay.
He will online give you two discussions once a week and one quiz every two, the test will only be a few and they are essays based on the discussions along with quotations from the book, tbh this is an easy A if you read, there should not be any problem with him since very helpful when asking him. also he takes your lowest assignment grade at end.
This class was asynchronous, and overall good. You just have to put in the effort and time in his weekly discussions and the few essay exams like elaborating and citing. His quizzes were just questions from the textbook. Reading and writing is a huge part of this class. No assignments on weekends, so make sure to be available to work on weekdays.
quizzes and LOTS of writing zero plagiarism good professor lot of work but if you work for it you can get an A
Once you get into the routine of Professor Wright's class it becomes easy. You do have to watch all the lectures and read all the chapters in the book. The few exams that he has are easy if you put in the extra days to work on it.
Mr. Wright is a great a professor. Gave amazing lectures and PowerPoints for us. We did have to do 2 discussion almost every week, they were if you love and understand the backstory of history! Be prepared to be typing a lot if you are taking this class online.
I dont recommend you take his class mainly because he thinks hes cool when hes actually super lame. And he is very tough on grading. If history isnt your subject I strongly recommend that you take someone else.
His class is easy once you get the hang of it. It can be challenging if you do not follow his direction on how he wants things to be done. If you do it as your suppose to, it will be easy.
Professor Wright's online course is really straightforward, lectures were great too. Only thing is that this course felt like an English class. You NEED to read the textbook and you write at least 250 words twice per week for discussion posts. There are also four 1,000 word essays. READ! Lots of work, but I would recommend him though.
Has a very clear rubric you need to follow exactly if you want to pass. Really strict and hard grader. Not a bad professor just likes things done how he wants so follow instructions.
The classwork is very easy to understand, including the quizzes that he assigns. The hard parts of the class is the amount of reading you'll need to do for the assignments/quizzes and also the exams, he assigns 5 of them that are due within a week which would be 15 essays in total for one entire semester.
Great guy took his class last year for winter, its all a bunch of reading and writing, lots of reading and writing. One advice i would for sure give is if you take his online class don't miss out on the video lecturers. I could of saved my self so many readings since he gives out the answers straight out.
If you're taking his class in person the only assignments you have are the essays. His lessons were super boring and uninteresting. Doesn't help that he's a tough grader.
awful class in my opinion i tried taking it twice since is the only one who give it online and i regret it it was a waste of time i recommend taking it in person with someone else and i hope he see all the reviews so he can stop giving an english class in history
I took this class online. Instructions are very clear and if you follow them you should earn a good grade. He really appreciates effort. We had lengthy discussion posts twice a week and a quiz every other week. We did about 11 essays total for exams throughout the semester. Just follow rubric but it is a lot of work & felt like an English class.
ummm not sure if this was an English class or history? Ridiculous. Definitely a tough grader. Expects so much from us. Glad this class is over..
Took over the winter. Assigned two discussions per week. Took content quizzes. Had Midterm and Final exams that were writing-based. Definitely need to read. Must include textbook, lectures, and primary sources in written responses, so make sure to look over. Provides everything you need in the module. Professor is readily available to help.
You learn a lot with him. He is one of the best professors for History 120
i do not recommend this teacher at all. get anyone but him.
If literacy is something you struggle with this might be a difficult class. His way of teaching is preparing us for upper division courses, if youre sinking with this course youre not going to swim at a uni. Just find the answers in the book and write about it in your own words with citations. You really cant fake your ability to write.
Professor Wright is a straightforward teacher when it comes to what he expects. I took his late start class this past spring. His class was mainly him lecturing what will be on the midterm and final. We had discussion questions to be answered each week as well.
This class was too much work. You will have to read and write a lot. You have to write three essays for both the midterm and the final. English classes I've taken have required less writing. You are quizzed on his lectures, and once you submit an answer you cannot go back to the question. He has specific rules for discussions and is very picky.
Tough grader when it comes to his assignments.
Really good professor!!! Would just recommend to take lots of notes, the class was based on 3 tests over the semester and all you had to remember was significance of certain historical events/terms/people.Everything is on paper
Read the book, attend lectures, and watch his online lectures through canvas. The grading criteria was very clear, and the class was very straightforward overall. Not a hard class at all if you put in the effort.
Professor Wright is an outstanding educator! He's very clear on the grading criteria and the work is not difficult. He gets a bad rep, but if you ACTUALLY do your work, you'll see how easy his class is.
I took him for the Winter session and it was tough. He provides good lectures and is helpful when you have questions, but he assigns lots of readings. I had to read multiple chapters and primary sources every week. If he had given us advice on how to be successful in this class, I would rate him higher. Don't take him over the winter.
Good class, but needs some minor adjustments to improve. He grades fairly and his writing prompts are interesting. The amount of writing you'll have to do in this class might get tedious. He took off a lot of points from my midterm essays because I was supposed to cite from all sources in the module which I thought was strange.
This class will make your life about reading. Quite strict with AI, not even grammarly is tolerated.
Had a straight A in his class throughout the semester despite his harsh grading but it dropped to a C after I didn't cite from the book properly on one exam. Wouldn't recommend.
I did really enjoy Professor Wright's history class. He is a little bit more picky when it comes to grading but he clearly tells you what he is looking for and how to improve for next time. There is a lot of reading from textbooks and sources but I didn't find it overwhelming while taking 3 other classes. He really values a well thought out answer.
Great profesor, great lectures.
I had this professor in person and I really recommend getting him in person if you can. He didn't assign any homework so our grade was dependent on the tests we took. But he always gave us a study guide. As long as you study, listen during his lecture and read the book you should be fine. The lectures were always very detailed.
