He's a really cool teacher. His lectures are interesting and he gives participation grades on just being in class. Every once in a while you will have an assignment to do for a participation grade. He only has essay tests, but as long as you take notes and study you will get a good grade. He's a great teacher and I would recommend him to anyone!
Good Teacher! Lectures are kind of confusing, but he was great at explaining them. I agree with his opinions on many of his lectures that he gave in which were very intersting!! Only grades are the essays, but be careful because he knows when you're "bs"!
Best teacher I ever had at TCC. His is lecture based though, so if you can't learn from taking notes, you may struggle. All tests are essays, but if you pay attention you'll be fine. What makes him such a great teacher is how passionate he is about what he is doing. Very interesting, very thorough, and a lot of fun.
A very good teacher who is actually interested in what he does, doesnt teach the typical point of view, has only essay test but if you go to class and take noted he isnt very hard, also allows u to use one notecard, hes a good teacher and i would reccommend him
Awesome teacher! He is very passionate about what he teaches and his lectures reflect his passion on the subject. Very interesting and funny. I would definitely recommend him to anyone, especially history majors. His test are all essay, so you have to take thorough notes, he just wants to make sure you have actually comprehended the material though
Mr. B is a cool professor. He is really knowledgeable and his class is interesting. He has a great sense of humor too.
He was very passionate about his teachings, which I loved alot! His exams were essays, straight from your notes. TAKE GOOD, DETAILED NOTES! Sometimes, he goes back and forth with his lectures, made it confusing because it's kind of like hes going off topic. But you just have to keep up! I would take his class again! He's funny by the way :)
Go to class, participate in the discussions, take good notes, and you'll pass with an A. He's knows is stuff & very passionate about hist & teaching. Plus he's hot (in a hippie kinda way)
Awesome professor! I've never been interested in history! Now I can't wait to attend class. He really knows his stuff and he's very passionate about it! If you attend class and take good notes, you will be fine. If you attend TCC, do yourself a favor and take one of his classes.
Isn't concerned with dates which was nice but got off course a lot in lecture which makes it hard to take notes. He calls his exams OTE's-opportunity to excel. Good luck with that! Tough teacher and proud of it.
What a great professor, I took him for both history 1 & 2 his OTE are right on track if you attend class every day and take note you shold be fine. I got B for both classes but that is because I did not want to go too much ino detail with my short answers. I will recommend him to any sudents. I enjoyed his classes.
The guy is good. His class only seems hard at first, especially if you're easily intimidated or too lazy to learn. It's not as bad as people say. The way he teaches history is probably the most interseting way I have ever seen. Its one of the few classes I have ever been in where I didn't have trouble staying interested and awake. Great teacher.
One of the best instructors I have ever had. All you have to do is take notes and listen in his class and you are set. He has some very interesting thoughts, and is a very interesting individual as well. I would recommend him to anyone.
His lectures seem VERY unorganized and he jumps from topic to topic a lot. His exams are pretty easy but the lectures are a bit hard to follow and his class discussion topics are not very intriguing. He has quizzes almost every day so it's pretty important to attend class. His reviews are pretty similar to the exams so I guess it's easy enough.
He was really nice and ligitamtely cared about History. his interest was infectious and he made the class really interesting. the only people who would have a problem with him are lazy, uncaring, and probably should not even be in college. it is IMPERATIVE that you take notes. he only takes three grades a semester, these are really important.
Mr. B is a GREAT teacher! He has taught me more about history in one semester than I learned in my AP US History class in high school. Very nice guy! Me and him have two completely different political views and he doesn't shy away from a good debate. Take Mr. B if you want to learn. His lectures are different, but it's better that way. I got an A.
this is the best professor i have ever have. history has always been boring to me but taking this class was very interesting. he wont do quizes unless the class is bad and dont read the stuff or participat. at first it might seem hard but if you take notes and pay attention you will be fine. the only ones in trouble are the lazy ones
I really enjoyed his class! Ive never really liked History very much but he really made it fun. i wish i could get him again next semester. His tests aren't really that bad either. just study and you'll do fine
Pretty much the coolest teacher you will ever encounter. I only had him for one semester and missed him the last one. He made history so much fun and explained it in a way that was easy to understand. He is very fair and his tests are easy if you study.
AWESOME TEACHER!!! Never really had any intrest in History and was dreading takig it however I took both 1301 and 1302 with Mr. B. He kept me on edge with his lec. and was a very fun class. Take good notes and study, test come from his lec.. If you attend and study an A is easy to get, not really any quizes unless class do not read scanned post
He's the HOTTEST and coolest professor I've had yet. He's very smart and serious about history, but it'll be an easy course to take. He's also very loud so listening to him speak won't be an issue.
Brilliant teacher! Took him for 1301 and everything he taught clicked. I have known of many teachers, but only a few are brilliant. Recommend to anyone who loves history! I work around my schedule to have his class for 1302.
I absolutely loved Brad! He made me love history and completely changed my outlook. As long as you take notes and study its an easy class. I made a 90 in there and barely studied so it's doable.
GREAT TEACHER!! He makes history very interesting. His lectures won't really bore you. Definitely should take his class!!
Does essay exams but if you go attend class, he teaches so well you'll have no problem. He made history extremely interesting and was a major influence on my wanting to dual major in it as well. Very down to earth and likable guy and very enthusiastic (not to the point of being overly eccentric though).
Cool, helpful, and passionate
Class is relatively easy if you like lecture based classes. Brad is really into what he teaches and pretty easy to listen to so the class should stay interesting. He knows a whole lot about history and is very unbiased when grading papers. An overall great professor.
He is a really fun and hilarious teacher to listen to. I was worried about his OTEs, but I had no problem with them. It was the most fun part of my day and I had fun being engaged in the conversation during class. You definitely have to be in class and take lots of notes, though!
He makes you like history due to him being engaging while talking about it. Very unbiased and relatable to me as a college student. He actually gives me motivation to want to do well in school. As long as you study for OTES you will do fine, which if you attend class should have all the notes for. Also funny and doesn't make you feel dumb.
NO book required. He lectures everything you need to know or posts vidoes that are relevant to the topic. 1 major research essay, and 3 test only. He is one of my favorite professors. His test are challenging, unless you studied your notes. His test are matching and essay questions. NO scantron test.
Loves history and gives his own explanation! I would definitely recommend this teacher! Very helpful and entertaining!
Class was good but professor had no notes no handouts or not online on blackboard. if you want to be in this class you need to buy a recorder or something because first he talks very fast like a radio go on and on so you will left behind with all notes 3 test on each test you will see 20 fill in the blanks and you had to write 5 essays very hard
I hated history going into this class. This professor is so passionate and makes you love history. I could literally image myself seeing what was happening in history. I loved this class. Ill recommend taking him 100%.
Mr. B is one of the best professors Ihave ever taken. He spends alot of time basically undoing the years of indoctrination that are imposed on students in the public education system. No textbook. Encourages critical thinking & engaging discussions. Always there to help when needed.
He is really passionate about his work. He doesn't really care if you attend class or not, but I recommend going to class because you will not use a textbook. Take notes. I was doing good until I stopped showing up half way into the class--Don't take 7AM classes if you know you won't wake up every day. He is very helpful if you stop by his office.
his class is my fav class last semester.i wasnt interested at first but he got me into history more now.very passionate.talk loud but fast so sometimes it's hard to write down, lots of notes and that's everything u need to get good grades.jus pay attention and discuss.he's a great teacher and i like history a lot more now.and i actually learn :)
I absolutely recommend him. he is the best teacher ever. i loved his classes. if you don't like history take his class and your whole perspective toward history will change. he teaches with passion. very knowledgeable, cool, funny, fair type of guy. he is the best.
His class is different. She has a different learning style and is very passionate. I found his class difficult because you really don't know what's on the test. You must take notes, study those, and hope for the best. He's very handsome. There are many interesting discussions in class! Def recommend him.
Mr. B is an awesome teacher. He made it so interesting that i actually like history now. I still have to take 1301 and I'm waiting till i can take him again. Will warn you though his class is not easy. I had to take notes in class and record him, then come home and take notes again but i got awesome grades on my OTEs from that. Wont be disappointed
I havn't taken a course with him in two years but I STILL think about how amazing my time in his class was to this day. Brilliant guy.
I loved taking Dr. B's class. It was my first college class in almost 20 years and I have never been great at History nor cared. He approached the classes with mounds of information and challenged us to think differently than what the textbooks want you to know. I wish I was a History major so I could take all of his classes. AMAZING TEACHER!!!
He was a great professor. I learned so much from him, but the class was so hard. If you work full time and take more than 1 class along with this one you will have a hard time keeping up.
Took 2 of his classes before, you have to show up because his lectures are all you need for the test which is in essay form. Lots of info, but you actually learn and work for it. He's rlly nice, knowledgeable, pay attention to the students and helpful when students have questions. Offer extra credits,4 tests including final+major paper, love him
Dr Borougerdi is a charismatic speaker, highly intelligent, and will cause a student to think critically. His course consists of 3 essay tests and one paper, but do not let the prospect of an essay test scare you from taking his courses. Content is what he cares about and if you read recommended material you can make an A or B easily.
He is a great professor and i will certainly take his 1302 class. Very helpful and will work with you to make sure you understand all the contents. No textbook required but attendance is required in order to do well in class. I enjoyed all his classes he made history class interesting.
Good class, HART OTE's
Good class, HARD OTE's
I never liked history until I got in his class. He is passionate, makes you love history, and his lectures are all very interesting. I will be taking his next class! I fell in love.
Great professor who is genuinely interested in what he is talking about. If you go to class, and spend time outside of class thinking about your notes enough that it shows up on your papers you will pass. He will make you interested in everything he is talking about. but if you don't show up you have no chance of passing. Record classes if able.
I took his first summer session ever and it was different from any hist class I've ever taken. He does not do powerpoints, just lecture so plan on taking lots of notes and I recommend recording audio and reviewing that weekly. Test are essay based and over topicsthemes covered. Study daily and you should do fine just know the material very well.
Professor Borougerdi is a brilliant professor. He gives in depth, interesting, lectures that prepare you adequately for your exams. If you just study a little bit every day, show up to class, and take notes you will do great in the class. I took his summer course and received an A.
Professor Borougerdi was easily the only history professor I've taken that actually made me enjoy the subject. He's a really cool, funny guy that actually makes you want to listen to his lectures and will never put you to sleep. Just take good notes and study the material a few times over and you're golden. Best summer course I've taken thus far.
Professor Borougerdi was the best professor I've ever had. Extremely intelligent, cares for his students, gives great feedback, friendly, and really knows his subject. He doesn't have power points, he just goes off memory and personal notes alone; his lectures are very interesting. He has three OTEs (essay exams) and a paper. TAKE HIM!!
very good professor, super inspirational,he cars about his students. you can tell he's passionate about what he teaches. I love his lectures, one of the best professors by far.
Took for World Civ. Nice and interesting. Gives total of 3 OTEs(essay questions over topics gone over in class)and a paper. Beware though,he made us read a long 19 chapter book and made us write a 4-7 page essay on it so if you work full time, i would not recommend. He sometimes appears to have a short temper so try not to walk in late too often.
Sincerely grateful I took his class!! Was not easy, especially for someone who works full time and is taking other classes. He is a great professor, very passionate, and always makes sure you understand what he is talking about., he cares about questions you may have. However, do not expect an easy A but do expect to actually learn A LOT!
Magnificent!
easily in my top 5 best teachers I have ever had
Borougerdi is one of my favorite professors!! i love his lectures because he never fails to grab my attention which keeps me stay awake in class. He's super smart, passionate, and inspirational. However, his class is not really easy expect essay writing. I would definitely take again if i major in History because you will gain A LOT!! The BEST.
Excellent professor, he is my favorite. His course is lecture based, and the lectures are phenomenal. You will learn. Your grade is made up of 4 essays, some in class, some online. Absolutely fantastic course. Took for both HIST 1301 and 1302. Loved it. Take notes, read the readings, write clearly, and you will do great.
I just have to say WOW! This was hands down the most dedicated and inspirational professor yet. His lectures are amazing, the draw you in and keep you locked into the topic at hand. He doesn't use textbooks or power points, which is quite impressive, however take lots of notes!! Plus, he's extremely good looking. Sometimes hard to focus. Good Luck!
The best professor I've ever had hands down. I took his class twice. Changed my life for the better as far as my preception and how to view the world and history. I looked forward to this class everyday. I think about everything I learned every single day. Life changing, miss his class. He truly enjoys teaching and is understanding.
Mr. Borougerdi is a great professor, but is serious about the work done in his class. Your grade is based on 4 long essays, so I recommend taking extremely good notes and reading the material. He does give extra credit but I would not rely on it. Pay attention and write as much as you can.
I had this professor, my junior year of high school (5 years ago) for a dual credit history course. I am about to graduate from Texas A&M and I have been meaning to leave this guy a review. HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS I'VE HAD. I learned so much more than history in his class. This guy is great, hope he reads this one day.
Mr. Borougerdi is amazing. You have to show up and literally write down everything he says because he doesnt use powerpoints but that will help you on his essay exams (which he usually lets you have a notecard for). Hes like a grungy hot, but also married with kids. Took him for all lecture and blended online class for 1301 & 1302. Loved him!
Dr. B is a very very intelligent guy. His class is 100% lecture which can be hard to follow. He makes history very interesting if you like history and gives you a new prospective on how to see history and the world. Dr. B also has a great sense of humor and charm
Quizzes over the reading each week, classes are mainly lectures over the reading. Need good time management for the readings. Attendance isn't graded but I would suggest going to class. He's a very caring professor and I can say I actually learned in this class. No textbook needed.
Mr. B seems like a nice enough person but I wouldn't recommend him for an elective class. I took him for world civ 1 and he hadn't ever taught it before so it was just a pretty big mess and I can't say I actually learned anything. He's passionate about what he teaches but he did not know what he was doing in my class.
Where is this guy? I need more history courses, and he was the absolute best. Non can compare. Very detailed lectures, inspiring messages, and down to earth cool person. Cant believe he is a professor. Definitely take him if you can find him.
Great professor, awesome lectures. I learned a lot in this class.
Great professor. He really loves teaching history. He is very clear on what he expects in his class. Be prepared to stay focus and take notes.
didnt like him, mostly lectures, bad vibes
if u are really into history or if you are gonna major in something related to it, go for it, take this professor, If ur like me and just need to pass this class to graduate, dont bother. u must read incredible huge amounts of texts from his textbook that he wrote and there is only 4 grades, no powerpoints, no written on board, just u reading
Someone who writes their own textbook, be prepared to fail. He does way to much. He had us list things that he could do better, and not a single thing changed about his teaching. He only lectures, and after awhile it gets annoying. He shows maybe 3 videos at most in class, but other than that you are screwed the minute you sign up for his class.
This class took a lot of work but I learned so much and it changed my entire perspective on history. Hard work pays off if you try hard, and he is great to listen to
Great experience.
Great Professor
I honestly did not care about his class after taking the second test. It seemed like whatever I did on the tests was not good enough. So, I decided to not care because I had already selected another professor to take , because I am choosing to retake this course. He is terrible and would not recommend him to anyone. I honestly think he just is bad
Great class very short only 11 days but enjoyed it a lot. Very helpful and knowledgeable about his craft.
I waited 25 years to return to school after graduating high school and was very fortunate to take his class. His perspectives on history and slavery are on point and he has inspired me to dig deeper. So, after I graduate next fall, we are traveling to Santa Domingo to visit a couple of sugarcane plantations. Thank you for opening my cultural lens!
I personally REALLY enjoyed his class! His tests are essay based, so if that makes you nervous you have 3 of them and no other grades. He lectures really well and if you pay attention and study hard you shouldn't have any issues. Optional book review for extra credit. Essays aren't graded for spelling or grammar either. Very nice guy and helpful!
this man is FINEEE but his lectures can be a little boring even though there's alot of interaction and class discussions which is cool. can get off topic and note taking is the only thing to do. this class is NOT hard and neither are the OTE's (his version of exams which is just an essay question of your choice). extra credit available.
He is a great professor and he only gives around 4 OTE's and if you listen and take notes and work for it you will do really well!
I really enjoyed Mr. Borougerdi! Due to COVID, I never got to meet him, but he was a great professor. He's very passionate about teaching history and its importance. The workload was moderated, a lot of reading, and a LOT OF WRITING. If you put in the effort, you'll get a good grade. :)
Very good instructor. I really enjoyed the subject. He is very caring and willing to help us as much.
Thought it was going to be weird reading a book the professor wrote, but it actually made the class a lot easier. It was never too many pages and he adds more links to help you learn more. Great class, and a pretty cool professor.
For his assignments, make sure you READ EVERYTHING IN THAT LESSON BEFORE TAKING THE QUIZ!!! I made the mistake of not and my grade went down drastically. He reminds you months in advance for the PSA and always has inspirational quotes on Blackboard. Some of the tests had questions not in the readings so that was annoying, but he was okay overall.
Started this class thinking it would be just a regular history class, but came out inspired. His lectures are amazing, really smart man, if you have any kind of question about history, he will give you an extensive and thoughtful answer. Be ready to write and read, I reccomend taking notes, theres only a few grades. So just know your stuff.
Dr Borougerdi's ability to convey the material clearly through an online class was well done. His personality shines through the history course and I was impressed with the history book he wrote himself. People complain that history is boring, but not this class. Beware of 1400 word essay at end of course. I like to write so no big deal.
He has honestly been one of the best professors I have had in a long time. He is very passionate about what he teaches which really helps you,as the student, understand the material well. His lecture and the textbook he wrote go hand-in-hand so if you're unsure about something he is very good at explaining things.
Although there is a lot of reading it consists of multiple materials. Articles and diary entries so it makes things interesting. The quizzes are timed so make sure you've read! Overall it's a good class that you will actually learn from!
No grade during the course. Very frustrated not knowing how I was doing in the course. Hard to understand reading. Only allowed 1 attempt to take quiz. Discussion is expected but not graded. He did allow me to summary the chapter for understanding, that was appreciated. Asked students to compose questions for quiz. Did learn from the course
if youre not good at listening and creating a original essay then dont take the class and if you like writing essays this class is good for you , its not as hard as it seems just listen to the lectures and read the chapters and youll be fine !
Harsh grader, discussion isn't graded, want student to do too much w/o rewarding the participation. Not enough attempt for quiz to better grade. In the blind with the grade during semester. Fill threaten if student do not turn in assignment that has been stated no grade for the assignment.
Dr. B is really funny and laid back. He genuinely cares about students' success and wants them to learn, which is why there are very few grades. As long as you pay attention in class, take notes, and put in effort, you should be fine. The material itself is challenging, but it is very easy to succeed in this class. Just a warning, he talks a lot!!!
He is amazing. It's cool to show up for classes. If your having a family emergency inform him and he works with you. Just do the work and everything will be ok. He is just amazing.
Dr. B is a such an amazing professor, he makes history a lot of fun through his detailed and interesting lectures. You have reading outside of class but they are multiple short articles that go along with the unit. You have 3 grades that are timed essays but if you listen in class and take detailed notes they are extremely easy to write.
I didn't know what to expect at first after finding out he wrote his own textbook. He really wants his students to learn so not too many exams etc. As long as you read then you can pass the quizzes. I highly recommend Prof. B.
Great professor overall. Show up and you'll pass. Pay attention and focus and you'll pass. Ask questions and you'll pass. You will have to write a couple of papers during the term but if you pay attention it'll be easy.
He lectures in a way as if he is just having a conversation with you, and encourages questions and comments during lectures. Incredibly nice and easy to talk to. There are only a few HMW assignments, and they are papers. I am 100% taking another class with him.
You would have to do absolutely nothing to fail this class. Dr. B genuinely wants his students to learn rather than giving out tests every week. There are a few essays that you have to write but if you paid attention and took notes, you will be fine. Highly recommend taking him! He is also very funny.
Professor Borougerdi's class is a good one to take for History 1301 and 1302. He dosen't care to much about attendance, but you should try to come to every class. The only thing to note is that some days he'll go off on crazy tangents during his lectures and it can be a little hard to follow, but overall he's a decent professor.
I took his 5-week online class, and I am so thankful he was my professor. I loved how he made his own textbook for us to read, and his class really opened my eyes to like history. During this course, a coworker I was close to passed away, and he was very considerate and caring to give me some extra time for a paper. Overall I highly recommend him.
Mr. Borougerdi's class was my favorite to take. Super easy format of class. although the reading is a bit much, it was surprisingly interesting. Learnt a lot. Tests were also easy. His class is about learning as much as you can and developing critical thinking skills.
At first, I consider dropping because writing historical essays was difficult to do. However, I have been able to do it well with historical evidence without needing creativity.
Mr. Borougerdi is a cool, laid-back teacher. There are few assignments, but the 4 essays required can be tough. Make sure you do your research and put together a solid essay. His way of teaching makes learning history easier because he tells stories, not lectures. Pro tip: Take notes during class, what he talks about is what he looks for in essays.
Very passionate professor. Keeps you captivated & excited to actually learn. He provides you with a free textbook he's writing himself for you to use. It doesn't get any better than this. Lectures are extremely important so attendance & notetaking matter. There are only 4 assignments overall that you must complete during the semester.
Graded by few things and fairly lecture heavy. He uses blue books so study hard and learn what the units cover. He is fairly picky on grading the essays so make sure to be specific, he hates general statements. Also his lectures don't have slides he mainly speaks on units, discusses terms and encourages conversation. If you like that style take him
good teacher talks alot his "otes" are easy if u study about the topic u want to talk about
Mr.B is easy if you like Hist. In Hist1301 he wrote his own textbook so he knows his material well. Take him if you are passionate about Hist. In hist1302 he doesn't have a book so he relied on lecturing. It's hard to take notes cause he jumps from one topic to another fast so be a good note taker. You can do 3 essays or 1 big essay at the end.
Mr B is very lecture heavy, but his way of teaching is amazing. He encourages people to engage in conversation and lectures off of the classes questions. He won't drop you if you don't attend but you WILL fall behind quickly if you skip since he grades off of 3-4 assignments per semester.
Took 1301 and 1302 - same grading criteria for both courses. No homework or quizzes. Only assignments are three essays. TAKE NOTES!!! He provides his powerpoints but they are mostly outlines. Great professor, really knows what he's talking about. Tbh opened my eyes on how history should be viewed. Recommend if you're really interested in history!
Only 3-4 papers and no work at all. He's very chill and classes feel like a conversation with that friend who loves hist. Can be a little annoying sometimes cause he loves hist (he wrote his own textbook) and he wants you to love it as well. If you really don't like hist maybe don't take him cause the class will just sound like a rant to you.
The professor is very passionate about history, but sometimes his online class can be a little confusing. All of the readings were links to outside sources, and some of them did not seem related to what we were learning. The only things graded on were several quizzes and then a final paper. The final paper was on questions that we asked ChatGPT.
very lecture heavy so take notes!! myself i went to class most of the time but most people wouldnt show up. There are only 4 graded assignments so they do count. 3 OTE (opportunity's to excel) and a ChatGTP paper. he is failrly easy. the first time i walked into class he kinda scared me.
I took him for HIST1301 as well and he's the best history professor by far. He truly cares what he is teaching. The class is so easy, just show up and take notes for the (2) OTE's and a ChatGPT essay that is easy as well. The more detailed you are the better your grade is. I would recommend him.
Great professor. His lectures are very clear + he's passionate about history. You won't be bored in his class at all. He opens the floor to students frequently, so definitely ask questions + offer opinions you've formed from the readings. Material is never hard to comprehend + will genuienely help you understand the unit. Start early on the essays!
Really incredibly laid back professor that makes lectures interesting.
one of the best classes I have taken so far, He is an amazing teacher, his lectures are super interesting and I got to learn a lot. attendance is not mandatory but showing up to class everyday can help you pass this class with a good grade for sure.
Borougerdi is an incredible professor definitely take him! The 4 grades for his class are super straight forward it's made up of 3 OTE's and one essay that's also super straight forward the more details you give on it betters on receiving a good grade. Take him and he's very accessible outside of class during his office hours.
He is an amazing teacher, he cares about what you think and what you learn. he doesn't use technology much and will explain it to you without reading a text book. Always ask question he will not make you sound dumb or boring. Really great teacher and he cares a lot about students. We only had 4 assignments all semester and we had more than a month
I am currently taking his class and i love his class he makes lectures interesting, his class assignments consist of 4 assignments 3 OTE'S about what you learned about the unit(s) and a primary source reflection paper with ChatGPT it might sound scary but its not i promise just pay attention and don't plagiarize and you be fine
Dr. B is the man.
very good professor he does only have 4 assignments for the semester so do pay attention to lectures
I am not sure how he teaches in person, but this was by far the worst history class/professor I have had. I was really shocked on the experience I had in this class especially after looking at the ratings for him were very good, but I do feel like I wasted my time and that I should have dropped his class earlier on.
Borougerdi's HIST1301 class is a great choice. The format is straightforward with just a few key assignments. Attending lectures and using the free textbook he provides are essential. Unstuck study can also be a helpful study tool alongside the course materials.
He's a nice guy, but the only information available is his lectures and whatever videos or links he decides to put in canvas. There is one essay and a few exams where you write everything you can remember called OTE's. Definitely study well for them because he is a tough grader.
I did not like his lecturing style, he went on many tangents that were irrelevant to the discussion. You HAVE to take notes on every little thing that he says or you will not know what is going on. Exams are in class written essays over a random prompt, so study everything.
He's not a bad guy, but when you have a 3 hour lecture without any breaks it can be exhausting. I tried listening to his lectures, but he went off topic consistently. I'd highly recommend reading the textbook on your own time. I didn't have a bad experience, but he's a procrastinator's nightmare.
Professor shows personal bias when grading papers. If you do not spit out back his opinions as fact, you will be given an F. He also expects you to know a lot of content not covered in the course. Seems misinformed and doesn't really understand the subject matter. Do not recommend.
I would not recommend this professor. The course consists of 10 quizzes, a ChatGPT assignment, and a final OTE. The discussion board posts, which are required weekly, don't even count toward your grade. The teaching style relies mostly on external resources and a few short lecture videos, which are unhelpful, and he doesn't respond to emails.
Not a clear grading criteria/rubric whatsoever. Relies on very few quiz assignments and (several discussions boards - required but don't count). One Chat GPT essay that is very confusing. One opportunity to excel for extra credit. For all writing he is very bias. If you don't write what he thinks on the topic, you fail. Helpful when I emailed him.
Bradley was an amazing professor, his class is based on lecture which you can get online. He gives out 3 assignments; 2 OTEs and a paper. If you do not pass with those 3 assignments, he gives you a final opportunity and it's an OTE. Whatever is the highest grade, he'll take it. In my opinion, he's a great professor. I'd recommend you to take him
Dr. Borougerdi is really passionate about teaching history. We were graded on 3 things: 2 OTE's that are essays/reflections over what we learned in class lectures, and a primary source analysis essay that uses Chat GPT to ask questions over the source. As long as you include terms and concepts over the units in your OTE, you get an A.
This prof was a legit psychopath in my opinion, I've had nothing but 100% positive experiences with most of the professors at TCCD but this guy is certifiably crazy.
He's one of the few professors that still make me want to keep studying and always encouraged questioning history that lead to me learning many big aspects of human history.
Dr. Borougerdi is great! He's looking for effort! Do each discussion post seriously, read your textbook, listen to lecture, study, reach out to him with questions (he's always responsive!) ChatGPT PSA is your only formal writing assignment and you have all semester to work on it. If you fail it's on you,
Only 3 OTE assignments for the whole semester and one other essay. teaches history very holistically and on his own terms. I always learned something I didn't know in class. was also very generous and understanding with grading.
