He is very inconsistant. Go over slides in class and is surprised that you don't know this stuff already. 3 exams. Every time different format. 50 questions on the first, 80 questions on the second - open book. Exams very hard. 3hrs to finish. Only 7 A's in class out of 75 people. Don't take! Avoid if you can.
Tests difficult, questions don't seem to come from book, notes or lectures. Homework is easy though; just one page summary of a current event.
This class was pretty easy. If you read the chapters test will be a breeze. Evey week a reaction paper was due..which was simply to find an article which relates to the topic..One paragraph for the summary, and one for the reaction. Must not pass one page.
I had him his first semester teaching the class. He made it clear he wasn't teaching the class by choice. He was a nice man but had a hard time getting his point across sometimes. The test were not much like the HW, but his practice test and quizzes were helpful. Do the HW early it takes a lot of time and study his practice test.
Most unorganized instructor I have ever had. Cannot get his point across during four hours of lecture each week, so he actually makes additional lectures for the students to watch (granted, these teach the four hours in about one). Every test, quiz/homework assignment has had incorrect answers and errors. Find someone else to teach this class.
Avoid at all costs. One of the worst teachers I've had so far while being here.
Although I expect to get an A, this class was so much more trouble than it was worth. Dr. Braun really tries but he just isn't a very good teacher. It doesn't help that he wrote the book so it's almost as unhelpful as he is. Screencasts were nice and so were curves. Avoid if you can because you won't understand most of what is going on.
THIS IS THE WORST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! HE TEACHES YOU ONE WAY BUT TESTS U ASNOTHER! HIS LECTURES ARE UNBEARABLE DUE TO HIS MONOTONED VOICE! SAVE URSELF TIME AND MONEY AND FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR!
This instructor is not nearly as bad as the reviews here. The course itself is hard so follow along with material and don't try to cram, it won't work. Only 12 projects and 3 tests(tests come from textbook.)Not a good teacher for those who dont understand big words. Read the textbook, watch the modules, do the practice exams and you will be fine.
I honestly cannot believe all the bad comments on here! Prof. Braun is EXTREMELY helpful, and takes his time to make EVEN MORE HELPFUL modules that supplement his lectures. Easy tests, easy "projects" (simple assignments), and AWESOME curves! Keep on the top of the class (do not fall behind) and you will be FINE.
Easy tests, easy 4-6 question projects, not a bad teacher. Really helpful curves. In my opinion you'd actually have to TRY to get below a B.
LISTEN UP EVERYONE! Quant tools II was not the easiest class ever, but Dr. Braun made it so EVERYONE passed. He grades you on projects and 3 exams. The final in this class was the HARDEST final I have ever taken. I SWEAR I failed the final BIG TIME! However he also curves BIG TIME. Hell, I got an A in the class overall. Plus he is entertaining. lol
Prof Braun is awesome and helpful. Extremely recommended teacher for quant II, he makes sure you pass!
he gives himself reviews. by far worst teacher ever.
I was in the 7:30am economic analysis of the firm course with the DeVos sport cohort group. Overall the class was a mishmash of various economic and statistics. The class was unstructured and half of each class was spent having each student read articles from HW assignments to the entire class
This is my first rating given to a professor. I felt the need to tell everyone how bad of a professor he is. Messes up every project to where kids are yelling at him in discussion forums and he refuses to do anything about it. Has no idea how to teach this class. If you want to learn the material, take another professor.
If you are breathing you can pass this course! Lectures are long and boring, but generous curves and note cards allowed on exams make getting an "A" fool proof!!
Most boring, dry lectures to attempt to watch or attend. Constantly has issues with webcourses and complains about it rather than help out the students. Easy to get an A though as long as he posts a practice test and 'projects' (online homework quizzes) are easy. I got nothing out of taking this class.
As has already been stated, Prof. Braun is an extremely poor lecturer. He presents the material in a very incoherent manner and is just plain unskilled at public speaking, at least while teaching Quant Tools 2. However, his class is extremely passable because his tests and quizzes are virtually word-for-word from the practices he provides.
Despite the fact that he is sometimes unclear, there is no doubt his heart is in the right place. His modules help to clarify everything and are extremely short. I ended up only watching the modules and reviewing his notes. That will get you through the class. Overall, take this course, it is not that hard to follow alone.
His lectures are very difficult to listen and follow along to but all you need to pay attention to is the part where he goes over the practice exams. As long as you do that, the h/w [which is very similar to the practice exams], & study the review it is a piece of cake. Some of the test questions come straight from the book practice questions too!
This course is extremely difficult soley because of the content. Lectures are difficult to follow along with, and the text is almost useless. Do the projects multiple times and definitely study the practice exams and you will be okay. Thankfully he curves A LOT!!
Cannot teach the material. He is not a bad man just a bad teacher!.
What is it with all the bad reviews?? Prof Braun is so endearing and nice and literally provides SO much extra study material DIRECTLY FROM THE TEST (annotated lectures/study guide/review lecture/quizzes/book questions you'd have to be really lazy to get lower than a C. He curves a little. Thank you Prof Braun for an enlightening semester!
Try to avoid if you can. Very smart man and a good guy, but doesnt do a good job at teaching this course. Spends about 95% of class talking about stuff that doesnt matter. Expects you to read his 500 page book to learn what you need for the test. People who rate his glass as good must be statistical geniuses. Wish I would have taken a diff teacher.
Lectures are useless, class if hard. Avoid taking this teacher. You can still get an A in his class by simply memorizing the practice tests and getting 100% on all hw.
I think he is a great Professor and really knows his stuff. He always replies to all questions on the discussion boards and lets you use a notecard on the tests. It is a pretty easy class.
Dr. Braun wasn't nearly as bad as I expected after reading all of the reviews. He provides annotated lectures and makes the tests right from the Projects and practice exams. I had to study but got an A. Also, don't miss the deadlines for the quizzes- they end at 7 am on the due date!
I enjoyed this class very much. The Professor's lectures were very interesting. I will say that in order to pass this course, you MUST watch the lectures, supplemental videos, and read the textbook. If you do this, you will get an A+. Do not wait until the last minute to watch videos and study the textbook. There is way too much information.
Braun's enthusiasm for the subject is obvious. The content is complicated but an "A" is attainable without too much trouble. I didn't read the book but I did watch both the class lectures and his annotated lectures. I did wait until the last minute to do everything and still made A's on the exams, but I don't recommend it.
The man loves his statistics! Easy to get an A if you do the practice exams and homework. Tough subject but he wants you to succeed, an A is very attainable
Worst teacher at ucf. He makes no sense when he teaches. he changes subjects without telling you, as if statistics/calculus isn't hard enough. He talks about the subject as if you are on the same level as him. Horrible teacher!!!!!!!!
B-O-R-I-N-G. He is by far the least interesting teacher with the worst delivery Ive ever taken. If you can tough it out and make it through the lectures then there should be no reason not to get an A or B. Modules are easy and the Tests are EXCATLY like the practice exam. I do not recomend him if you are truly trying to learn the material.
professor braun is a good teacher, all you need to do is study the practice exams and you can get a B or an A. He is one of the few professors who really understand that everything is done on computers and so he doesnt make you do useless calculations. most professors act like you have to do everything by hand which is most annoying
Super boring class but definitely do-able. I didn't find a need to read the book (which is free). Watching the 'Modules' (shortened lectures) really helped. There are 12 'Projects' AKA Homework; unlimited attempts on 11 of them to get highest score you can. 2 exams & 1 final. He will drop lowest EXAM grade & make the final count more if that helps
The first two exams are relatively hard. I received a C on both but he did curve. The lectures are very hard to get through. 2 hours of talking about useless things. He is funny at times though. Important: FINAL IS EXACTLY SAME AS PRACTICE FINAL! You can use notecards too!
Relatively easy class I if you watch the lectures. He is a pretty good teacher but very boring and without much personality. The material is not interesting but it is useful. The math is very easy for this class and the exams are fair. The only set back to this class is he does not care about his students. And he is terrible with emails.
Overall easy class but with a boring professor so lectures were hard to endure. The material is easy and can be useful in the future. Very different than Quant 1. Much less Math intensive.
Painfully boring. Exceptionally bland. Minutes pass like hours in his class. Video stream classes always have to most uninspiring professors. I assume it's done to prevent anything controversial being recorded. Just go to the help desk and save yourself the misery.
Super boring and says "um" every two seconds. Granted he enjoys teaching Statistics and gets excited about it, he's a really dorky guy and doesn't present well. His final was exactly like the practice exam and the assignments all have unlimited attempts so grade was, you're likely to get an A or B, you just won't know anything from the class.
Professor Braun is not the easiest teacher at UCF, but as long as you watch the lectures and constantly do the practice exams you will get a passing grade. He allows a note card, so take full advantage of that. The practice exam is very very similar to what will be on the actual exam.
He is fun to listen to, but the TA's at Help Desk did a MUCH better job explaining things. You get to take a note card to the exams which are VERY similar to the practice tests. Take advantage of that and you'll do fine.
Not the easiest class to take but he does put the time in to teach the course the best way he can. The course covers a lot of material and that is why I think most people find it boring. Do homework and pay attention to practice exams and you will be fine.
Class = SO BORING. Barely studied for the first 2 exams & received C's on them both since he gave curves. Stopped watching his lectures after the 2nd exam, they are useless. His practice final is EXACTLY THE SAME as his final exam, except for 7 or so questions, and you can use a note-card on all exams. I got a B+ in the course & I suck at math.
This class requires a lot of studying like any class but some of the concepts get difficult to grasp. Professor Braun is very monotonous and hard to watch, he is nice and tries to be helpful but its just difficult to watch the boring lectures. I didnt use my book too much, just used the practice exams to study. I ended with a B
He is very clear on topics discussed and he uses good examples. If you come to or watch the lectures and do the homework you will do well.
Interesting class, sometimes monotone but has a clear passion for statistics. Also EXTREMELY Liberal and is not afraid to express his views openly.
I think professor Braun is a great professor. He's willing to help his students succeed in the course. Though his lectures are quite long, he needs to fill the time up with something. He gives you all of the necessary materials needed before taking the exam, which is really cool because some professor's don't even do that for their students.
He is a really good professor. I would say the only bad thing was that he talked slow BUT I would listen to him on 1.5 and it was perfectly fine. He really cares about his students success. He doesnt ask trick questions on the exam. Study the practice exams and you'll be ok. I took this in the SUMMER B (6 weeks) and got a B+.
I agree with the last comment, but I only watched the supplementary videos and stopped after the first exam. I also got a B+ with only the practice exams. He's a great teacher. You need to take him.
3 exams,12 homeworks(11 with unlim. attempts)Drops lowest exam grade and lets final count twice.Allows notecard for all tests(make sure you write all formulas).Take practice exams and watch exam lecture reviews and you will pass.I barely understood anything and received a B. Hard concepts and useless info, but at least the Prof cares.
The most inept professor I have ever had. Lectures are extremely boring and confusing. He cannot explain things very well at all. Must learn yourself. I'm still going to pull a B, but it is annoying how simple the A could have been. Give up on learning anything. Just memorize for the tests. It is how he tries to teach anyway.
RUN THE OTHER WAY! I enrolled in this course together with two friends and all three of us received bad grades in this class and barely passed. His lectures are too complicated and boring to watch. I don't recommend him at ALL!
Worst class I've taken in my college career. The T.A. didn't speak English. The lectures are completely irrelevant, monotone and lengthy. Would not recommend taking this class at UCF if you have to go through this professor. Horrible, if you do not have a strong math background you'll be teaching yourself over and over again.
AVOID HIM IF YOU CAN, worst professor I've had so far at UCF! You can tell he's passionate about the subject, but he doesn't know how to teach it! He does curve the exams, but it's never enough to really help at all. If you do take him, the lectures are pointless. Watch videos on ScreenCast and do the practice exams, not study guide.
I learned nothing in this class. TA's were horrible. I will have to retake it in the spring...
Prof. Braun is very passionate about the subject, but just isn't very good at teaching it. Lectures and textbook aren't very helpful either. I suggest doing practice exams, watching review lectures, and study guide. An A is definitely attainable if you study these things and teach yourself. He also gives curves which is helpful.
I only really watched professor Braun's annotated lectures, read the free text occasionally, and paid special attention to the exam reviews and practice exams. The exams weren't too unreasonable, and the final, in particular, is very very similar to the practice exam that he provides.
Class is very difficult. Braun is not a bad guy but his lectures are very boring. The final was very tough and counts double if you did poorly on a previous exam. While his class isn't impossible, the majority of the people within the class found it very difficult. If you can take it with someone else I would say go ahead and do so.
Incredibly boring. His stories are relevant in his own head but to the rest of us, it seems like he's just rambling on. Projects are easy but you're better off teaching yourself or seeing the TA. Save yourself and pick someone else.
The practice exams were helpful for me.
Lectures were useless, disorganized, and boring. The most monotone professor I've ever had. Talks.....like.....this.... with an hour between each word. Practice exams are helpful. I got a B. To pass this class USE THE TA's or a friend who USES THE TA's. It's the only way to learn the material without going crazy!
The projects are easy but I didn't learn a thing and the tests are ridiculous. Luckily if you are an accounting major you only need a D to pass. Lectures are pointless and boring. Passed AP stats in high school with a 5 and I was completely lost in this course.
If you want to succeed, review the practice tests, watch the exam review lectures and study the vocab and you'll get at least a B on each test. He gives out a notecard to write down formulas, so, if I were you, learn how to type your notes up via Microsoft office. The more stuff you can fit there, the better it is for you.
Not easy but not impossible. I didn't attend class/watch lectures or use the book at all. 2 midterms: 44% of your grade. The final: 46% of your grade. Understand the practice exams-they're VERY VERY useful. Tests are challenging but he always scales. Though they do vary so don't rely on the scale for your desired grade. Recommend, sure.
Horrible professor, doesn't teach very well. Most of the material is extremely hard when you're starting out. Its like you're learning a foreign language. Tests are impossible, grades on the curve. Better luck finding someone else because he's the only one teaching this course.
Tests are hard but he does give a pretty good curve. Seems to really care about students. He gives the book and tons of additional resources free. Know how to do the practice exams, they resemble the actual tests pretty closely.
Fairly straight-foward class. Took in summer A 2014 and got an A. Curves generously, exam reviews are similar to tests, and he provides the book is free online. Most consider the class "hard" but I didn't think it was too bad..
He gives all the course material to the students for free and curves heavily on the tests. That is where the positives of this course end. He's a terrible professor but he was the only option for me so I had to take him. His TAs cover his material very well in reviews before each test. Don't even bother with his lectures.
Okay professor. Okay class. However, I took AP Stats in high school, so I'd seen the 23 of the material before. Braun is very monotone and tends to use more jargon than necessary. Not the easiest class, but the "projects" (homework) are easy with multiple attempts, he gives practice exams, and his TAs are good. Class is doable, but not the best
This is a stats class. Its hard. learned more material from the TAs on review day. watch his lectures on screencast, I didnt but apparently theyre way more helpful. Im retaking this class and next time im watching screencast. I enjoyed stats before this class. This was just incredibly difficult.
Quite possibly the worst professor i've ever had. Doesn't really teach. He just talks and talks. Lectures are useless. If you're taking it, be prepared to visit the TA's. It's a hard subject that needs a lot of time put into it.
This class is the only class I've ever had to worry about my grade considering to get an A you have to have a 94+% &to pass 74%. His lectures are worthless, his last 2 tests are tough, and for the final project you can't see which questions you got wrong after the first attempt, leaving you to guess. He does curve though. That's the only positive.
Avoid this professor at all costs. Go to a different campus for this class. He does not teach and makes the class extremely difficult! Does not go over test material, his TA's review the practice exams which is when you actually learn the material! Terrible professor. He does curve though, but it's nothing out of this world.
The worst class that I have taken at UCF. Without his TA's no one would understand what went on in the class. He loves stat's but can't teach it. Grading scale is ridiculous. An 83% is a C+. Good luck and avoid if you can.
I actually liked him as a professor. He forces you to actually understand what you're doing. You won't do well if you just try to use tricks to pass exams. You must be able to understand why choices are made, and when given info you'd encounter in real life, you should be able to understand it. He starts off simple, then adds complexity.
Very nice professor, there to help if you ask. The TA reviews are all you need to do well on the tests. Keep up from day 1, and don't freak out if you do poorly on the first exam. He really works with students as far as grading and curves all his tests. Simple C, pretty easy B if you work, tough to get an A though.
Nice professor. Easy assignments except the last one and exams were long and repetitive but all were curved. Getting an A is possible if you study.
You can really tell Dr Braun really knows what he's teaching. More than prone to telling a joke or two during the lectures. Tests are tough and sometimes it's hard to actually grasp what he's teaching, but the TAs are great at clarifying any and all concepts. Would definitely recommend if you want a challenging class and a thorough stats course.
Do not take Braun unless you're a Stats major. I repeat, DO NOT TAKE HIM! Drive to a regional campus and take a professor who will actually use the board, instead of just reading slides. His exams LONG and impossible to finish. He curves, but it won't help. Nice guy who loves stats, but he can't break it down for regular people to save his life.
Where do I start?? Boring lectures, absolutely boring. I learn more statistics on Khanacademy than in this class. It's SO confusing and he throws in wording on the tests that makes it harder than it should be. The final is 45% of your grade. I had an A during the entire semester and ended up with a C because of that.
Made me reconsider my major. He was not helpdful, or clear at all. Each exam is worth more than the last, ending with a final worth 45% percent. Oh yea, and its 70 questions. Words do not do it justice, stay away.
Braun is hands down the worst professor I have taken at UCF. He changed the format of one of his tests a week before it was due, completely destroyed many students grade. He also doesn't have a consistent grading criteria, or a grade schedule. He is by far the most inconsistent professor in the College of Business, and he has to go.
This class can be pretty easy if you put the time into it. Don't waste your time watching the lectures, he posts annotated lectures that are much shorter but give you the info you need. Just watch the review lecture before each test to make sure you are prepared. He gives a very generous curve to each test. He makes it very difficult to fail.
His tests are pretty easy. I would have gotten an A in this class if it wasn't for the 3rd test's format being changed. Each test is worth significantly more than the last. Make sure to do his practice tests and you should be fine. Don't bother with his lectures. He posts annotated lectures that are alot shorter and says everything you need to know
3 exams and curves generously! Hw unlimited taking only the highest score. Very hard subject. Apply and get ready to study hard. Powerpoints and notes definitely help. Didn't use textbook but now wish i did.
Not as bad as some people say. Study a bunch and you'll do fine. StudyCube is helpful too.
Cons: Terrible lectures with tons of filler. Pros: Provides annotated lectures that cut out all the filler. The class is basically stats for non-majors, and if you can memorize a few formulas for each test you'll be fine.
This is the worst teacher I've had in my entire academic career. It's clear he knows the material, but he doesn't try to explain it to students whatsoever. The textbook is free, but written by him, so it's not much help. He also changed the syllabus and grading scales several times in the first few weeks of class. God bless the TAs.
The guy definitey knows what he is talking about he is just terrible at getting the point across. He doesn't go into detail and try to explain why the things are the way they are. He can't stick to a grading scale, almost half way through the semester and he has changed it numerous times.
Horrible professor. He is not clear on the material that will be on the tests. He is very arrogant and doesn't seem like he enjoys what he does. He's also extremely paranoid of cheating. Really bad.
A pretty horrible experience. I can take him altering the syllabus multiple times throughout the semester, but not the lectures and material. His lectures could been more to the point and simple, instead, he will go around the bush on an important concept, only to finish the thought right before the test. Just wait till the TA teaches before a test
- you are suggested to work in groups for assignments, but when you do you are penalized. - due dates change and are extended, but if you decide to use the extended due date you are penalized points; without any mention of set back on grades. - submitting assignments 5 minutes you lose points. HORRIBLE STAY AWAY. TA review only thing that saved us
This Professor is not clear at all. Not in his lectures, not in the videos that are posted. He constantly changes the syllabus and without proper notice. You will not learn anything from this professor. Only Pro is that this class has amazing TA's that will help you out, only people you would actually learn from.
Awful professor who will spend the first 10 minutes of class belittling his students and has no idea how to teach. The concepts are not tough as long as you wait to watch the TA review. Only class where the StudyCube makes understanding the concepts harder.
This guy is tough. He changes things throughout the semester. He makes it very hard to understand the material. He likes to randomly yell in his lectures. I feel he talks to us like idiots. Tough class. Very hard. If this wasn't required I wouldn't take it and if you do don't take it with him. I wouldn't take any class with him ever
Dr. Braun has a style--you either like it or you don't. He's intelligent, witty, and sometimes caustic, but there's little doubt he knows the material very well and is clear in explaining it. This is not a class to take if you care too much about GPA--exams are difficult and very specific, perhaps even *too* picky. A is 95+, but curve is merciful.
STAY AWAY! I watched the first two lectures and nothing ever made sense. It all sounds like gibberish and he is not clear whatsoever. If it wasn't for the TA reviews and office hours then there is no way I could've passed the class. The final is worth 40% of our grade I have had an A all semester and could easily bomb the class because of this.
Oh god this is a rough class. This class is structured horribly so 95% of the time, you have no idea whats going on. His tests are exactly like the reviews... But you'll have no idea what the reviews mean. My best advice: do not listen to the professor (he will only confuse you), memorize the sample projects and projects, and pray for a curve.
The text is difficult to read and is not helpful at all. I am an A student who received an 89 in this class and he does not give +/-. He does not release any original exam grades and only provides the "curved" grades which did not seem to be curved at all-and he does NOT allow for extra credit bc of the "curve". He changed the grading scale twice.
In the 25+ classes I've taken at UCF,I've never experienced a prof who makes the easiest material sound so confusing and difficult. I got an A on every assignment and test except for one quiz. And on the final I got an 84%, resulting in an 89% b/c its 40% of the grade. I stopped watching his lectures b/c all he does is complain about students.
Dr. Braun was a great professor in my opinion. He made it clear what he expected of his students and had his graduate teaching assistant's walk the class through practice tests so we felt prepared. I kept an A all semester until the final, which I still did well on, but the final is a majority of the weight of the overall grade.
Braun changes the rules on a daily basis. Beware of collaboration on projects, do your own as much as possible and if you need help, the GTAs are great! Don't bother watching the lecture, just watch the GTA reviews and you're golden. Try not to get on his bad side either because it will result in a higher Final weight percentage as punishment.
The class isn't easy, and he doesn't have an endearing personality. BUT the class is doable. He provides the text free, along with sample projects, shorter concept videos and exams. If you understand the projects and review the shorter videos on screencast you should do fine. Visit the TAs. The cuml. final ended up 40% of the grade, unfortunately.
What was expected wasn't really known. He kept changing exam and homework dates through the entire class and changed the weight of the final after class had already started. Use the practice exams to study. Got a B and it wasn't too hard, but an A seems impossible. Textbook is free though.
WORST professor I have ever had at a collegiate level. He does not know how to explain the material to the students. He talks to us like we are already experts in statistical models and freaks out over nothing. Avoid this guy at all costs.
Lectures and textbook are worthless, everything you'll need to learn for exams and projects are best learned through modules on screencast, which is provided to you when you sign up for the class.
I would definitely suggest you takes Stats before this course with Braun. He often refers to that class and states that "you should have already learned this" and continues on with the lecture without FULLY going into depth about the subject at hand. Deadlines were changed OFTEN. You must check each day to find out if something popped up.
4 exams/3 case studies (2 attempts each) (long word problems)/11 projects (quizzes)(unlimited attempts). Book is free - you can print it, 500+ pages, only read chapter 4. Read PPT's before class, MUST WATCH LECTURES. Tests have many sets of questions meant to trick you. Get the 1st one wrong and think you did it right, you FAIL. Use practice exams.
Due assignments before due date. Key to exams are practice exams. Take screen shots of the first three case studies to study for case study three. Professor is not keen to help students so make sure to always to finish assignments early because he changes due dates on whim.
This class was difficult but I managed to get an A. Study the practice exams for the tests. Take screen shots of the case studies and study them for the 4th study you have to do in the testing center (you don't get to go back to see them). Study Cube really helped me a lot. I didn't get much out of the lectures and the book was long winded.
I never had to worry about not passing a class before, but this one made me sweat from beginning to end. One of the hardest class I've taken. Professor is very knowledgeable but is not the best at explaining the material. He assumes you know the topics so you have to teach yourself to keep pace. Can be funny at a times. Got a B in Summer term..
SO TERRIBLE. SO TERRIBLE. I was supposed to get an A+ in this class, then he changed a due date time from midnight to 10AM that day. I got a 0 on a very important assignment. Because of this, I barely scraped by with a B-. He screwed so many students by doing this MULTIPLE TIMES. Final exam is cumulative and mandatory. Take another prof if you can.
WORST professor I have ever had at a collegiate level.
This professor have no idea how to get the point across, and he does not care. The more he talks, the less one gets it. The worse part is that you cannot chose a different professor. Teach yourself, and dont even bother watching his lectures. Its a waist of time.
He does not teach well.
I believe the professor was having cancer treatment throughout him teaching the course so he canceled class every week. The class is very very difficult but the TAs do a test review the day before and its exactly like the exam. I got an A in the class and went to class like 3 times. Homework unlimited attempts and case studies easy to learn.
The text book is free and there are these mini lectures that condense the long lectures to like 20 min each, i watched some of those just to be familiar with terms. There is easy projects that have unlimited attempts and the tests are EXACTLY like the reviews so just do those. easy class all you need is minimal effort. very good guy
Fall 2016 UCF ECO3411 Dr. Bradley Braun knows his expertise very well, but when it comes down to his lectures and free textbook, it is hard to understand the concepts. The final exam is 45% OF YOUR GRADE and what is worse is that it is conceptual, what he is really weak on teaching. I heard from him that ECO3411 is his last class to teach.....
I would never take this professor again even though I was able to barely pass his course. Overall it was a battle between trying to not fall asleep during his lectures and then trying to teach myself online. He doesn't explain any concepts clearly and certainly does not understand no one actually cares about statistics.
He definitely does not make it super hard to pass, since homework and case studies have unlimited attempts. Personally I did not understand his lectures or textbook much, I stopped reading the book after the first couple of weeks. Just do the case studies and watch exam reviews and you can definitely get an A. And I hate stats!
I ended up getting a high A and decided not to write a review because of it. But after taking another class that was suppose to compliment this class, I found out quickly that I barely learned anything from this professor. This class isn't hard to pass if you lean on the TA'S. I would've failed if they didn't explain everything in the test review
Phenomenal teacher. I passed this class with an 89 at the graduate level when I haven't taken ECO in 9+ years. He was extremely patient and taught the material extremely well. I have never learned so much in a course throughout all of my years in school. Please do not take into account the undergraduate student posts below. Show up & study! Easy
Dr B was the only professor I'd want at 730 in the morning. His enthusiasm with every class was amazing, especially given the time of day! Attendance was mandatory, and we had weekly discussion posts. Public economics was taught more like a civics course, so I can see problems with more important classes but for this class I loved him
Long lectures, errors in explaining concepts, uploading new slides without notifying the class and assignments/cases that had the wrong answers which caused a lot of confusion. Had him for ECO 6416 and ECO 6115 with each being a struggle. No attendance requirement which caused the exams to have more weight and affect grading more heavily.
Public economics with Dr. Braun is a pretty easy class. Interesting lectures. Attendance is taken every class so you have to show up. There are 10 online discussions posts where you're guaranteed at least an 80 or 90% if you write the minimum 500 words. 2 exams which are exactly the same as the practice tests so study those well and you're set.
Professor to the core, follow his lectures and you will ace his exams. Will always take any class with him.
