His tests are over about 4 stories each. They have essays that are not too hard if you have read the material. They also have quote identifications. He gives you the quote and you have to say who said it to who and the significants. They are pretty recognizable. just read the material and if you dont understand read the cliff notes along with it.
He is a good teacher overall. If you go to class you only really need to read sparknotes. His tests are usally 3 short essays and about 6-8 quotes. Don't be scared of the quotes b/c if you go to class they are pretty easy. Overall he is a nice guy and lets you miss 4 days and drop your two lowest quiz grades.
Great teacher - my favorite English professor I've had so far. You gotta read the book... he's very passionate about what he does, which is nice. He's picky about attendence and has pop quizzes, but lets your drop your lowest at the end of the course. I would love to take him again.
Edwards is a beast!! His quizes are straight from the readings and there questions like"who wrote the odyessey" pretty much straight forward. His tests are just over things we talked about in class, the main points pretty much
You can't get a better professor! I loved the reading he selected and he kept me interested in class - take him if you have the chance!
Great class. Great teacher. Go to class and do your reading you should be fine.
I hated this professor! His class is really easy as long as you do the reading. He comes across as very condescending and talks down to the class. I hated every day I had to go to his class.
this is a hard class only for the amount of reading. attendance helps because he stresses main points in class. reading material is more hits than misses. suggest reading as directed and when he stresses page numbers and quotes, mark them in your book. nice guy. you can tell he loves what he teaches.
MUST ATTEND CLASS!!HARD CLASS! HARD TESTS! NO QUIZZES OR HOMEWORK OR EXTRA CREDIT!!! Exams are all essays and must be very detailed. Grade is based off of 3 tests and an exam so u have to do good! Stay away!!!!
I'm a biology major and he was the hardest teacher I have taken in my life. I received my first F in college because of him. I attended every class and made A's on all of his quizzes but still failed because of his exams. He only gives 3 exams that are extremely hard. My best advice is to not take him!
Great teacher! He is the best teacher I have ever had a Georgia Southern. He explains everything so well. I hardly read the book, I just used spark notes and got an A on all the tests and quizzes.Just mark the passages he goes over in the book.there is alot of detail you have to remember for the tests because all except the final are essay.
He is one of the best english profs. That I have had here, I took him in the summer and the reading was rather heavy...but I think he compensates for it in class because he explains everything so well, he knows what he is tlking about. Mark the passages he says and read and you will do well!
He was a very good teacher. His IDS class is about Immigration. The stories/movies that you go over in class is about immigration. Although I don't like to read, the articles he assigned were interesting. I'm not a great reader, nor test taker...this is why I made a B. But anyone else should made an A
He is REALLY easy. Attendence is mandatory because he gives at least 10 "pop" quizes; eventhough, you can predict when he'll give one. If you read all of the material you can ace all of his exams.
Avoid at all costs! Two tests, twenty-five trick questions each. There are NO comprehension questions, all overly-specific, minor, inconsequential detail questions with multiple choice answers designed to confuse and trick you. Even as an English major, I still made an F. Acts nice, but will not help you, and has a horrible teaching method.
Good professor, however his class is not easy. I believe his class was my only C. If you love literature, it wont be bad. However, reading is a must...and there is a lot of it. Tests are hard, direct quotes only and its confusing bc its over multiple stories. Attendance Required.
Had Edwards for an AMST class. Lots of reading, and quizzes on over half the days, but grading was fair, and the quizzes were easy if you read the assignment. The works he chose were interesting, and included a broad selection of literature. I enjoyed his class.
GREAT CLASS!!! TESTS ARE 100% QUOTES. EASY IF YOU READ AND/OR KEEP UP IN CLASS. QUIZZES RANDOMLY, SO GO TO CLASS! BASICALLY IF YOU GO TO CLASS, READ AND PAY ATTENTION, YOU'RE GOOD! I GOT AN A :)
Best teacher I have ever had. Honestly. Go to class, listen to him tell great stories, underline quotes in your book and voila! You have an A!! He is so passionate about what he teaches and it surely shows. I'm taking him for IDS next semester and my boyfriend is in his American Studies class now says he's amazing. You'll love this guy! Promise!
"Best teacher I ever had comment..." was supposed to read for English 2111, not 1111 which is a writing class (that he doesn't teach). Anywho, you won't regret taking his class! Just go to class and do the reading.
He assigned very interesting reading which is mainly what the tests were based on. He really likes what he teaches and can get energetic at times. Good professor.
Did well in this class simply because my AP teacher quizzed us on the Iliad the same way Edwards tests but for most people it would be very hard.I think it is a bad testing method.I was in a class of about 175 we wrote no essays had quizzes at random that were together worth 10% and 3 tests which were all quotation based.. ex: who said this quote
He is a pretty good teacher. Tests are based completely on quotes so reading is a must! We had like 10 quizzes but they are all very easy, especially if you did the reading. I reccomend!
For a 1 hour class this guy asked for way to much. If you like World Lit. then take him b/c you'll be reading a lot. America immagration is what the class is over and it sucks!! I made a 89.6 and he wouldn't round up. Worst IDS class you could take.
Loved him! I hate to read, and this class has alottt of it, but if you make yourself do it, there's no way you'll fail. Tests are all quotes, but he tells you what quotes to study if you go to class. Go to class and do the reading and it's an easy A! I definitely recommend him
Thought the class was gonna be super easy. Readings were interesting. Only 3 grades: midterm, interview and final. I made A's on the first 2 and a B on the final and made a high B in the class. He refused to round up.
Took him for turning pts 7 connections. you only have 3 grades but their simple!!!! just READ THE STORIES and you will make an A or B no reason not to!! sometimes class was boring but other days it was really interesting. attending class isnt necessary. i barely went an made a B (so you do the math)
I would choose some1else if I were you. However if u want to choose this dude then choose him during the summer (I cant imagine him at any other time) He is hard and you MUST attend class. He wouldnt round up because he claims he veteran in teaching the class. Though I got an A in ENG 2111 I would still advice u not take him. DONT take him for IDS.
Great teacher! I ttok him for IDS and World Lit. I. Loved him. If you read, come to class, and pay attention there is no reason you shouldn't make an A. He is very clear about what he wants.
as long a you keep up with the readings and pay attention to the quotes he takes the time to tell you then you will get an A
TAKE HIM! I loved his class, he's straightforward, passionate about his teaching, and picks great readings. You have 2 tests a final, 4 little essays (outside of class), & 10 pop quizes (super easy if you read). Pay attention and take notes in class and you will get an A no problem!
I love Dr. Edwards! He is an amazing professor. I was dreading taking IDS, but he made it so fun! You can totally tell that he loves what he does. I would recommend him for any class that he offers.
If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't your class. With that being said, I think Dr. Edwards is a great teacher and is very passionate about what he teaches. Lots of reading. Class is mandatory. There are 10 pop quizzes but they are really easy as long as you read. I will get a B but only because I goofed off at the beginning of the semester.
Not an easy A. You have to read all the time because there are 10 pop quizzes during the semester. You have 4 essays to write that he just throws at you. Tests are all quote recognition and author/book connections. He offers extra credit so do it because he doesn't round grades!
Great teach, stll does the pop quizes so you have to read everyday and go to class.. test were hard but after the first one you got the hang of them.
A lot of reading, but attending class makes the tests very easy!
Great teacher. Make sure you read everything he assigns, the quizzes (10) are random. If you come in late he doesn't let you take them. Attendance is very necessary. Also reading responses are random but easy.
One of the BEST English professors I've had at Southern so far. Very easy class IF you show up! Quizzes are only 6 questions, and there are only 2 tests and a final. Pretty much hands you the answers to the quizzes and tests during lectures!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Good teacher. As long as you read the stories/books, you will make very good grades on the tests, regardless of whether you take good notes in class or not. I studied for the 1st test, made a 100, never studied for another test again and still made a high A in the class. He gives pop quizzes, but they are easy. Strict cell phone policy.
He is a great teacher. His attendance policy is that he let's you miss up to 9 classes which is very lenient. If you just go to class and highlight what he reads out of the book you are guaranteed and A on the tests. He is also very helpful!
Dr. Edwards is a really nice guy but if you aren't THAT into World Literature, do not take him. All his test are quotations that you must know who said them and to whom they were talking to. Each test has about 4 stories on it. Also about 10-12 SURPRISE quizzes on the reading from the night before. Textbook set is NOT OPTIONAL. 9 absences allowed.
I took him for global citizens. Attendance is mandatory. There was no text book but a lot of online readings. We took quizzes over the online articles. He was very knowledgeable always had interesting stories. I enjoyed the class. Take him!!!
Attendance is mandatory. You have nine absences though. He has 12 pop quizzes, they're pretty easy if you read. Readings every night. Only 4 500 hundred word response essays. Either a 100 or a zero. Test are just quotations. That sucks but other than that he's okay. Absolutely NO PHONES in class. He'll call you out.
Had 3 tests including the final that were all quotes from the reading. Several in-class quizzes, drops the two lowest. 4 reading response essays and gave an option for a 5th if you missed one. Those were either 100 or 0. Have to sign attendance everyday. He was a good professor. Made it interesting and easy to follow. Do the reading. Take his class
Dr Edwards is such an amazing professor! his lectures are so intereting and he made me love literature. he makes getting an A easy. i recommend anyone who HATES writing essays to take him, there are only four short papers and he grades them for completiong not for content.
If you're not really interested in World Lit I wouldn't recommend taking his class. You have readings EVERY night, with sporadic pop quizzes. However, if you're absent on the day of a quiz, he won't let u make it up, even WITH a Dr. note. Smh Test s are straight quotations. Class attendance is mandatory. Okay class as long as you don't get sick!
Dr. Edwards was so much fun! I had him for Indian Culture and he was super knowledgeable and it really showed and made the class very enjoyable. It was my favorite part of the week! Lots of reading and writing, but it is really easy overall. Just do the work and don't skip class and you'll get an A.
Too much work for a ONE credit course. You can consider yourself taking Writing class. Very strict rules and won't provid extra credits or round up. He is a great professor, though, just don't take FYE or IDS because it not worse!
If you don't like to read, don't take the class. He gives random quizzes so if you happen to not read you're out of luck. He is really particular about everything. He takes attendance every day. All of the tests are direct quotes from the reading and a lot of them are similar. Do not take this class if you aren't good at memorizing quotes.
He wil make you become interested in literature...im an engineering major and I hated the subject but somehow he managed to make me enjoy reading..for one semester anyways. quizzes are random..MAKE SURE YOU READ THE BOOK AND NOT SPARKNOTES...he uses exact quotes to test you
He's a great professor but can ignore opinions of his students sometimes. He does his best to hear from everyone who raises their hand in lecture. He's a very knowledgeable man! Read the book because he does quiz at random!
I LOVED this professor! I took him for his American Immigration IDS class and English Lit. 2111. Wish I had taken more of his classes. Pop quizzes and a lot of reading is a part of his class, but he makes the reading so interesting! He explains the readings clearly and efficiently in class. I would definitely take him again in another class!
Dr. Edwards is awesome! Tests are all quotations but as long as you go to class and mark the parts he reads, you'll be fine. There is a lot of reading but there are random quizzes so you have to do it. Most of the readings are pretty interesting anyways. He tells a lot of stories in class so lecture is usually entertaining. I definitely recommend.
Dr. Edwards was one of the best professors I've ever had. He was so interested in you learning that the class was amazing. His tests are all quotes based, but he'll never throw you a curve ball and is always willing to help. Very funny too
Dr. Edwards is AWESOME!! He makes the class so interesting! He is one of my very favorite professors ever. His tests are quote-based. He emphasizes the quotes that will be on the test in class. Go to class, and it will be super easy!
Possibly the best professor i've ever taken. tests are quotes, multiple choice of speaker and location. lectures are actually interesting, and he basically tells you what quotes you need to know if you go to class. i honestly never even wanted to miss class. came out with HIGH A!
Excellent professor. I HATE english but enjoyed his class. Gives random quizzes over assigned reading material. A lot of reading. Test are direct quotes and ask who said it, to whom it was said, setting or location. Go to class and highlight passages he reads in class...those are the test. Relates material to his kids and it helps. TAKE HIM!
Honestly can't hate on this guy. Good professor, however, his tests are pretty hard. The quizzes are all over the material you had to read, but the tests are quotes directly from the book, which sometimes can be confusing with so many different characters in the readings. Overall I enjoyed this class
Edwards is a fun professor. You will take at least 10 quizes (but 2 will be dropped) that are over the reading due that day but they are only 6 questions and its graded out of 5. You have 3 tests that as long as you TAKE NOTES and start passages that he talks about a lot you will be fine. 5 500 word essays but he drops one. super available to help
The tests are really hard but you have to take good notes in order to to do well.
The best teacher I thinks exists for World Lit. Having said that, would not give a B for a 79 course grade.
Dr. Edwards is absolutely amazing! A a bio major and had a low interest in literature before taking his class, and now I'm planning on taking another one of his lit classes for an elective! If you read, it's an easy A and he makes studying books interesting and fun. I highly recommend him!!
Very serious about attendance. Great teacher but the class is very tedious. He breaks down literature so that a two yr old could understand. has a lot of 5 question quizzes so DO THE READING because the quizzes are over the smallest details! if you arent prepared to do a lot of reading the dont take him
You have to read A LOT, and do not even THINK about taking your phone out in class. But his lectures are pretty interesting, and he really knows what he's talking about. His tests are 100% from material he covers in class and there are a good amount of grades so you have a chance to do well. Would recommend, but get ready for long lectures!
Going to his class was like going to church. You only need to read like 12 pages before each class, he uses many anecdotes, he is awesome. Highly recommended. testes are over exactly what he goes over and he posts podcasts of his lectures on folio.
Dr. Edwards is a great professor. I received many life lessons from his class. However, I did not appreciate his tests. Although the questions are multiple choice, they are over quotations from the readings & I have a horrible memory. There are essay questions on the tests. He will give pop quizzes. At the end I really enjoyed the class.
I took Dr. Edwards in the first semester of my freshman year; I'm now in my junior year, and he's still the single best professor I've had. His description of literature is that it is ultimately about what it means to be human; and throughout the course his focus was decidedly upon the human implications of the readings. A+. Easy tests if you read.
Dr. Edwards is by far one of my favorite professors. He has so much passion for the works you read. He wants you to succeed. He wants you to travel. He teaches you about literature and life. He is one major reason why I decided I wanted to teach. Great professor. Highly recommend taking his class.
I absolutely find him to be the most passionate professor I have had in my two years of college. He loves literature and will quote it without reading it from the text. I'm not the biggest literature fan, but he might have turned me into one. His tests are easy if you show up, mostly quotes and an essay. Would highly recommend if one will do work.
Dr. Edwards is the best professor I've had in my two years at GSU. In his World Lit 1 class he gives you reading guides for all of the reading you do (they're optional), and he takes them up at random for extra credit. There are a few easy reading response essays, and he drops your lowest one. His tests are easy if you do the reading guides.
I FOUND PROFESSOR EDWARDS TO BE A GOOD TEACHER AS HE IS 110% INTO HIS LITERATURE NO OFFICIAL HOMEWORK BUT HE RANDOMLY TAKES UP THE READING GUIDES FOR EXTRA CREDIT. NOW LISTEN: THE TEST ARE HARD. I DONT CARE OTHER POST SAY I HAVE ALL THE READING GUIDES AND I CONTRIBUTE IN CLASS AND I WILL BARELY COME OUT WITH A C IF YOU DONT READ DONT TAKE HIM!
Dr. Edwards gives you reading guides that cover 85% of what will be on the test. As long as you read the stories or at least look over the sections on sparknotes there is no way in hell you should make lower than a B. There are 5 two page essay's which are pretty easy. Can't miss too many classes, and gives really good lectures.
Hes great, but if you want above a C gotta actually put some work in. However if you want a C, and a really good teacher this is the guy! you still have to read, and somewhat understand, on his test the questions are stuff you could only know from actually reading, he ask about things that spark notes wouldn't have any reason to include
Dr. Edwards only gives you movies to watch and a passage out of a book you have to read for homework. Be prepared for a quiz on all readings and movies every class. Quizzes fairly easy if you did the work (multiple choice). His class is based on Indian culture so the only hard assignment is finding an Indian immigrant to interview. Would recommend
I have never rated a professor before, but wanted to give kudos to Dr. Brad! I'm actually a 40 year old returning to school after 20 years student, and have to say he may be one of the best professors I've ever had. For an online course, he recorded his lectures, and they were great. Gives good feedback, which I never get from online professors.
Professor Edwards mad Literature bearable and even interesting. To a math person
Dr. Edwards is probably my favorite professor at Georgia Southern. He made classic literature so interesting and enjoyable. Lots of reading, but he goes over it thoroughly in class. Gives reading guides. Highlight the passages or quotes that he repeats over and over in class, cause the tests do have quotes. Puts podcasts of his lectures on Folio.
Took Dr. Edwards for World Lit 1 last semester. I've never been a big fan of literature but he made the subject interesting and easy to understand. Pay attention to the things he emphasizes and repeats in class. Not only did I learn a lot about literature but I also learned about life. The class was enjoyable and I strongly recommend taking him
Very passionate about what he teaches. Relates everything to life and really makes you think in a different way. Loved this professor would 100% recommend
Lets you miss 9 classes before penalty. Posts recorded lectures online. Grades on exactly whats in his rubric. BUY THE BOOK, you'll use it everyday. Makes lectures funny and easy to pay attention to. MUST READ to do well on tests -- takes quotes from readings and puts them on the test. Reading guides for extra credit collected randomly. I love Dr E
Dr. Edwards is the best, most enthusiastic teacher I have ever had hands down. He assigns readings and then spends the entire class period explaining that reading and relating it to everyday life so you can understand. He makes sure you know what is important to remember and gives reading guides that are great for studying. Enjoyed going to class!!
Dr. Edwards is awesome!! He is always enthusiastic in lectures which makes it super easy to pay attention. Read before every class, do the reading guides and take notes. The tests are easy if you always go to class. There are quotes on the test but they typically went along with the lecture topics so it was easy to figure them out.
TESTS ARE TOUGH! IT MAY BE SIMPLY BUT WE YOU ACTUALLY GET IT IF YOU DIDN'T READ THE BOOK, YOU WILL BE CONFUSED. HE ASSIGN READING GUIDES AND THEY ARE MORE DIFFICULTY THAN EVER. IT IS ONLY 500 WORDS BUT THAT IS A LOT WHEN YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN A QUOTE FROM THE BOOK. IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE STORIES JUST DROP THE CLASS. I WILL NOT TAKE HIM AGAIN.
Hands down the best Lit professor out there. You do have to put in the effort, but he makes it easy. He is so passionate and is always there to help. Tests are mostly quotes and you have to know who said it, to whom, and where, so definitely know the material. Final non-cumulative. Do ALL reading guides for 3 percent added to final grade!
All time favorite professor. He has taught me to love literature. I enjoy the messages that old tales give us and he really knows how to keep you interested. He deserves anything extra the school could give him. An amazing professor, mentor and even better man. I highly recommend him. You will do great if you stay on track with his readings.
Honestly Dr. Edwards was one of the best teachers I've had to Georgia Southern. As long as you pay attention in class, take good notes, do the reading guides, and read the material, there is no reason that you shouldn't get an A. Plus his lectures are fairly engaging and he does a good job of making the information not so boring.
incredible teacher, 10/10 wish I could take him for every class
Professor Bradley was my favorite professor by far at Georgia Southern. I took him for World Lit. 1 and I learned to absolutely love reading, where as before taking the class i wasn't a huge reader. I wish he taught all my core classes because it was so easy to pay attention because he's just plain amazing at what he does. Five stars.
Dr. Bradley is an amazing lecturer. I highly recommend him, especially if you hate literature, since he makes it so easy and fun. He assigns a lot of reading, and 5 papers, but he is not a tough grader. There is extra credit, but none of it is just given, so you have to put in work. If you put in effort, then you'll get an A!
DONT take this class. He takes it way too seriously, and he lets his personal beliefs get in the way of teaching. He knows nobody cares about literature, and thus forces you (with attendance policies) to sit in class and listen to him ramble about the same book he's been reading for decades. NOPE
I absolutely LOVED Dr. Edwards. I could have listened to his lectures for fun all day because he makes them sound like stories. He is SO interesting. I know this may not be the case for everyone, but I thought the material was easy and interesting. All I did was highlight the passages he talked about in class and I got an 100 on the first test.
It looks like I'm the only one that has anything to say about his FYE Indian Culture Lit & Film class so far. He is very passionate about what he is teaching. He requires participation from everyone in his classes and gives a handful of out of class assignments. He is a great teacher, and definitely recommend.
For FYE, he is a great teacher. Very easy assignments, like reading one chapter of a book, or watching a movie. There are quizzes every class period over the homework, and then discussion during class. Easy A, and he offers extra credit.
I went into the class without much excitement about the subject. I left with a new appreciation. Dr. Edwards gives absolutely amazing lectures and brings the literature to life. If you don't like his class, you probably have no business being in college. You have to do a little work, but you get so much more in return.
Dr Edwards is literally the best teacher I have ever had at georgia southern. He is so passionate about the texts but has a lot of personal stories and makes the lectures so interesting. He is so personable and just an overall awesome guy. 10/10. take him.
He was an extremely great teacher. Don't expect to pass without reading, his tests are about 50% quotes from the books but he says the quotes more than once during his lectures. Really funny as well
By far the best teacher I have taken at GSU. This class does require reading though. I personally hate reading the textbooks, but he made it so interesting and just by listening to him in class youll get a good grade. Pay attention, go to class, do the reading guides for extra credit, and enjoy his awesomeness!
Everyone dreads world lit but all you have to do is go to class and he literally goes over the material in his lectures and basically tells you the quotes you need to know! Great class but I did work hard for my grade.
Dr. Edwards was an incredible teacher! He is so interested and passionate about the material he is teaching and it makes the class interested in the subject as well. He does 5 reading response essays but they're only 500 words each and super easy. The reading guides are extra credit but they're good for review for the tests. Definitely take him!!
DrEdwards is BY FAR the best professor I have ever had! He allows you to miss up to 6 classes for any reason without penalty; but why would you ever want to miss a class from such an inspirational person?! He can make a long lecture into the most interesting part of your day, and keeps you awake during morning classes. I highly recommend him!
Great class for world lit 1. He's really passionate about the subject he teaches. If you go to class and read the text, you'll pass with an A easy.
Awesome professor and would recommend to anyone! His lectures are so interesting and if you miss class you can listen to the podcast of the lecture on line. Easy to make a B and with a little extra effort you can make an A. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit as well! Awesome guy.
I am not one to write these things, but after taking his class I feel obligated. Professor Edwards is the BEST professor I have ever had at GSU. His lectures are hilarious and easy to pay attention too. Just take really good notes and do EVERY SINGLE reading guide so that you can study them. TAKE HIM!!!!!! such a good man.
Honestly he may be a "good professor" but he doesn't care about his students at all. He likes to hear himself talk (which is why his lectures never end till you start packing up to leave). He does audio lectures which help but you have to get interest in the material or else you won't pass. Not just a regular engl class where they want you to pass
This is the only review I've done, but Edwards is the BEST! He changed my view on ancient and classical writing. I wish he could teach all of my classes! Not just a great professor but a great guy too. Take good notes and pay attention. Go to him for help with writing if needed! He will practically tell you what to write. I'll miss his class!
AMAZING teacher! I dreaded taking this class but Dr. Edwards made it so fascinating. He gives reading guides to follow along in the stories and takes some for extra credit, lectures helped me understand the material better, tests were pretty easy if you read, passionate about these works of literature which make it more interesting for everyone
I took this as an online summer course, and it was a LOT of work. However, the assignments were relatively short and the exams were pretty easy. Exams cover lectures (there are a lot of them) and material from the books. We had an essay due every week, but I never made lower than an 85 (and got a 100 on the last one). Would recommend him!
Dr. Edwards was an awesome teacher! He truly loves literature and wants you to learn. Has reading guides for homework, but they aren't difficult if you read the books.
Best professor I've had at Southern. If you put in the work and show him you care, you will get an A. TAKE HIM!
Easy to pay attention to. Posts his lectures online. I took the class MWF and we could have 9 absences, but it doesn't matter if the absence is excused or not it still counts towards our total. He does reading guides and if you do them, you'll pass easily. He also takes them up randomly for extra credit. 10/10 do recommend I would take him again!!!
Film FYE: easy, come to class and you'll make an A, we watch a film each week then take a quiz and turn in one hmwrk sheet over it when we meet. the rest is discussion (mainly those who volunteer) he's strict on attendance and there's a research essay at the end, but it's over a film of your choosing and his final is only 1% of your grade. take him
He makes literature so awesome!!! You have reading responses but they no more than a page, so really easy to pass the class. Offers a lot of office hours and enjoys going over the reading with you one on one. His lectures are very entertaining because he enjoys his job! Easy A/B
Cannot recommend Professor Edwards enough for world lit! Very compelling lectures, even if you don't care for literature like me. You get 9 free absences. There's a lot of reading, and some of it is difficult to understand, but he guides you through it and makes it interesting at the same time. Gives 5 essays but only counts your highest 4.
He does the most! However, his class is pretty straightforward. 2 tests & the final, 3 short essay responses (drops lowest 1), and then he has two different EC opportunities. Reading guides are VERY helpful, and you'll want to do them since this is EC 6xs out of the semester. Overall, his tests are easy if you pay attention and take good notes.
BEST WORLD LIT PROF! extremely easy if you show up and do the reading guides. he is super entertaining! absolutely loved him would def. recommend!
I took his Indian Culture and Film FYE course. He's very extra, and he really encourages participation. However, he has a real love for India, and the assignments made the class enjoyable. You have a quiz every week for either a story or a film he assigns. It's an easy A.
The essays he assigns over the readings aren't too hard, but they are graded pretty hard. His tests are mostly based on the readings in class, with 90% of them being quotations and having to remember names and places and who said what and where and when. You can miss up to 9 classes but after that it affects your grade.
great professor! I always loved his lectures and always learned something new when he taught. As long as you go to class, do the reading guides, and take good notes you're fine. 3 essays that aren't hard but heavily graded. Provides extra credit. Can't be late to class or you'll be counted absent. Other than that, highly recommended!!!
Best professor Ive ever had. Well traveled, read, etc. you learn something new every time you talk to him. Just go to class & actually listen to what he says. He now puts up podcasts for review purposes & in case you miss class, you can miss 9 w/o penalty. Great professor unless youre a slacker or suck at writing.
Excellent professor! Passionate about the material and it carries over into the lecture/discussion. You can tell that he cares about his students. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit, very fair number of absences, straightforward tests, and fun class discussions (even has podcasts for missed days). Take him if you get the chance
He's a good professor but he does a little too much. He's the professor where he wants you to pay attention to him the entire time! He does a good job with breaking stories down so you understand.
He's a good professor, good lecturer, he promotes participation, and he does group discussion. He's a bit too controlling of group discussion, if you mention transcendentalism he won't stop talking, bit pretentious, and he can be a bit long-winded. Overall a good professor. Do all the extra credit (put effort into it) you will get a high grade.
He's a great professor who's very passionate about English and literature. He's not an easy A, if you're looking for one. You'll have to study, but he'll never leave out anything that will be on the test in his lecture. He clearly understands because he records his lectures, gives plenty of extra credit, and drops the lowest reading response grade.
I absolutely loved this class. Although you have to read a good bit the stories are very interesting and he makes the lecture enjoyable. It is a no cell phone class and he takes attendance every day. As long as you read and pay attention in class you will do just fine.
Wonderful professor! He has very interesting lectures, is very helpful whenever you need it, and four days of office hours. My only issue is he takes forever to grade things, but that shouldn't stop you from taking this class.
He was a wonderful professor! I hate to read, but enjoyed this class. If you read and go to class and listen to his lectures, tests should be an easy A for you. His lectures are very interesting and easily understood, so even if you don't read, you will still understand. He gives quizzes almost everyday before class, but they're super easy.
Lots of reading and lots of quizzes. He definitely expects you to contribute to class discussions too. If you do the reading, you'll be fine.
His summer online class is a bit difficult. Tons of reading and hour long lectures piled up in one week plus discussion and essay. Test consist of mostly quotes you have to remember from the text. You basically have to have no life to keep up with his class.
TAKE HIS CLASS. Every lecture he gives is an interesting lecture! There is a pop quiz almost every day so make sure to do the reading. The test are straight from the lectures so if you take good notes you will do great! Also he posted all his lectures online, and makes attendance not mandatory. I would still recommend going to the lectures though!
I am really not a Literature person but he made me like the class. His explanations made you want to read the books in you spare time. Doing the extra credit reading guides help a lot . And he's always available to answer questions through e-mail or during office hours.
Dr. Edwards is the best professor here on the Georgia Southern Campus. First off his lectures are amazing and you don't really have to take notes (well I didn't). He explains everything that will be on the test and gives you study guides on what he is looking for. He does have the occasional pop quiz, but I just read the spark notes and did fine.
He has quizzes just about every class (drops lowest 6), but as long as you read you'll be fine. He provides reading guides which can aid you in taking notes during class. Lots reading but WONDERFUL lectures. His test directly reflect what is mentioned in class. Just make sure to look over your notes and listen to lectures ( which he also records)
take him, just great.
You will not regret taking his class! I actually like going to his class. He has amazing lectures and he makes the class enjoyable. He always asks us our opinions on things.
This class is HARD but it is well worth it if you like a chalenge. I HATE world lit but i have mad respect for the man. He has awesome lectures but if you have awful anxiety in classes like me, I highly recommend that you don't take take him.
Professor Edwards was my favorite. He made the class very intriguing and obviously cares a lot about his classes. He pushed us to be more active on campus and forced us into discussions with other classmates, furthering relationships with other freshman students. There was a quiz and homework every class, but they were incredibly quick and simple.
A wonderful professor. I had him for both Literature and Film, and both classes were great, well taught and without frustration. Clear material and easy tests and quizzes. His lectures a really interesting and thoughtful which makes his classes enjoyable and feel less like a chore.
Dr. Edwards was one of my favorite professors, which is weird because I HATE reading. He made coming to class and listening fun. DO THE READINGS AND THE READING GUIDES. I thought I could get by from just listening to him, but no. He tells you on day 1 to take notes and review them, it helps and makes a huge difference. I prob could have made an A.
He makes his class super fun and enjoyable. Attendance is optional, but he gives you quizzes almost every class period. End the end these quizzes can help your grade major. With his reading he gives reading guides to help for the quizzes. He puts his lectures on a podcast so you can listen to them later for the test.
You're stupid if you don't take his class. The last lit. class I tried to take in HS, I was asked to drop. I actually learned something in a liberal arts class and now understand the purpose and culture behind the important works from the Epic of Gilgamesh to Shakespeare. I only listened to his podcasts and notated the quotes stressed in class.
I loved Professor Edwards. I took him during the summer online and his class was very informative and well structured. There is a lot of reading but what really helps is his lectures without those I would have been totally lost. The tests are mainly made up of quotes from the stories so they are a kind of difficult.
One of the best professors I've ever had a Georgia Southern. If you listen and pay attention during class you will do well on the tests. He actually wants to see you succeed in the class. I definitely would take him again.
Bradley Edwards is a cool teacher, he knows way too much about literature though. He literally thinks it's the most interesting thing in the world. He says attendance isn' t mandatory, but he gives quizzes almost every single class. So yeah he really does get you there. The tests are pretty hard, it's usually given over a lot of information.
I truly loved this man and his class. Even though there IS reading due AND a clicker quiz at the beginning of mostly every lecture, as long as you do the readings and pay attention, you'll 100% do well in the class. He also records every lecture as a "podcast" and posts them on a link in folio, so it's perfect to study for exams.
Dr. Edwards was amazing! It is a lot of reading though. There are reading quizzes every class but if you do the reading guides you will for sure get an A on them. 3 tests and if you pay attention in class they are super easy. He keeps the lectures entertaining and always has good stories. Books are interesting for the most part.
Attendance is Important!!! There's a quiz on the assigned reading every day, easy quiz if you do it. His lectures are incredible, he makes lit fun for not lit people. Aside from the daily quizzes, there were 3 tests and 3 essays, one is optional. Do the reading, go to class, you'll be fine. The essays are easyish. I loved him, take him!!
Dr. Edwards was one of my most favorite English professors. I do not like Literature and was very scared but after getting to know him, I loved his class. He gives very good lectures and is also accessible outside of class to talk to him and get to know him as a person. He is not just my professor but also a close friend. Highly recommend him.
If your essays are not wrote in his specific way, he will give you a complete zero and horrible feedback. No chance for extra credit or a chance to improve your grade everything is final.
I took him online for A term so it was A LOT of reading/assignments in a short time span. You must read and listen to the lectures. Good class though. Hes tough on papers but will tell you exactly how he wants them if you talk to him and he dropped the lowest paper grade. I bet his class is even better in person. Read and study, youll do well.
I really enjoyed his online class, his audio lectures are pretty loud and entertaining. He doesn't assign anything too heavy. I often forget about his class, he is really laid back with assignments. You will pass if you read what's assigned, listen to the lectures, and complete the reading guide. The audio lectures are long, listen to them asap.
Dr. Edwards World Lit class might just be my favorite class I 've ever taken. The lectures are so interesting and make it easy to understand everything we were reading. I had an asynchronous formatted class so I took exams online and had a discussion every week. Not too much reading in my opinion.
I haven't even finished the class yet and he is by far one of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are so exciting to listen to, he's hilarious, relatable and well traveled. Make sure you read or this will be a hard class. I hate to read and this class completely changed that for me. I am very thankful for Prof. Edwards!
Dr. Edwards is literally the best professor I have ever taken in my college career! He has amazing lectures that greatly help me understand the literature, and he makes reading and studying literature super fun! Class is ridiculously easy if you come to class, listen to the lectures, and read what you're supposed to! Dr. Edwards is the best!!!!
This guy was very well spoken and did a fantastic job of explaining each text. He took the time to go through the readings and make sure to explain them thoroughly and clearly. Loved this class.
He is really in love with his job which makes him a really good professor but it also means he rambles a lot. He gives study guides to all the tests which make it easier, the tests are worth 90% of your grade so you need them.
I adored Dr. Edward's lectures from day 1! He is clearly passionate about his field but makes literature accessible to those who are just there for the credit. His lectures tend to run over by a few minutes but I enjoyed every second of them. MOST IMPORTANTLY - He was super accomodating when I, a single mom, had to bring my son to class.
It's been a whole year since I've taken his class and I STILL have a crush on him lololol, definitely take this man's class during your time at Georgia Southern if you can. He is a true gem - literally the best professor I've ever had
I absolutely loved him. Favorite professor I have taken at Georgia Southern. His lectures are always interesting and he cares about what he is teaching. Take him if you ever have the opportunity.
Mr. Edwards is my absolute favorite professor. He is hilarious, relatable, and genuinely cares about the subject and his students. He is incredibly kind and personalizes all of his responses to you. I highly recommend listening to his lectures and completing his worksheets.
Dr. Edwards is one of the best professors I have had. I took this as an online course, but the lectures were so good that I wish I would have taken it in person. One of the most straightforward classes. Make sure to take good notes when listening to the lectures.
Just show up to class, listen to the lectures, and take notes. You will be fine if you do these things.
This dude is amazing. I took American Lit with him. Class was SOO fun and interesting. Lots of great discussions, and he is happy to hear everyones thoughts from the assigned reading. He is super nice. You should take him if you ever get the chance.
Very entertaining class! Do your homework!
Dr. Edwards is one of those professors that your life is marked by after taking his class. He deeply cares about the success of his students and is so kind when helping you with a paper. He doesn't make you feel stupid. If I could take him for every English class I would.
He is a good professor, but be prepared to read. You will also most likely have a quiz at the start of every class. His tests are also difficult if you don't study a lot for them. He does make the work you are reading more interesting than it is.
Doctor Edwards is without a doubt the best professor Ive ever had. He fosters an incredibly positive environment in the classroom that encourages everyone to engage fruitfully with the material.
Class is completely discussion based, which threw me off at first. Only four tests and a quiz over the reading almost everyday. Tests are easy as long as you understand the reading. Great professor!
