pretty uneventful, just a basic lecture but it's not very hard...and semi interesting, good class
good professor, very nice and friendly and easily approachable!!!!!!! URI rocks, i love this place!!!!
A lot of information needs to be memorized for each exam
Repeats himself alot, not too hard though.
eh, kinda boring, but easy class, learned a lot, and that's what we're here for, right?
boring
No Comments
BOOOOOORING, serious monotone!!!! but not too hard
No Comments
puts notes on the web, makes study guides. A little monotone but very clear. Class is organized so you'll learn quite a bit. Tests are pretty easy.
horrible
Looks like Howard Dean. Class is a little hard, but he works with you. Doesn't like tlaking in class (who does?!). Notes and reviews are up on the web almost ALWAYS.
Hate him soooo much. So boring!
He's boring but is a nice guy. Class is pretty easy.
i can't stand him...you're boring as hell thats why no one goes to your class!
SO MONOTONE! didn't go to class AT ALL and I think I'm pulling off a B. He throws hissy fits when people don't go to his class and takes the notes offline sometimes. As long as you can find someone with notes, you'll do fine
He is getting meaner I hear. Has no respect for students. Tests are pretty easy though. BORING
boring
Don't bother going to class because all the notes are on the web. Just memorize, you will do fine.
bad bad bad
He's a really nice guy. It is not true that all of the notes are on the internet anymore. He expects people to go to class. One benefit of going to class is all of the pop quizes. Really nice guy. Tests are multiple choice.
EGO Trip . . .this man thinks hes god . . .i can't even stay awake in his class like come on.. BORING
Awful Class! He is so borrring, made me hate going to bio. Then just because no one comes to class, he takes the notes offline...what is that?!
He was a good teacher, nice guy, interesting class.
Sad there was no scale but then did scale very much...unnessecary stress caused by that
A pathetic and unfair grading scheme is used by this man. I had him even EMAIL me my final grade. He replies, "Your final average was an 82.6, which puts you in the C+ range." WHAT? BS? I get what I deserve, when you ask him a question, he acts as if your a dumbass, poor teacher, smart nonetheless
notes are online so you don't need to go to class. Mid semester he started taking the notes offline though because so much people never came to class including myself. His exams are really straight forward. All the questions come directly from the NOTES. Never opened the book and got a B!
You do have go to his class. Pop quizzes show up all the time. Not to mention that when he sees the class' declining numbers,he stops posting the notes online. He treats students like they are 6 year olds sometimes, but he is intelligent. His exam questions are vague sometimes, watch outwith them!
His lectures can bore you to death. But exams and quizzes not overly hard.
I hope you took the AP bio exam.....what a waste of time this class is.....I shoulda took the AP exam....
I hated his class. He put me to sleep many a time. And I used to like bio. Didn't help me out too much when I couldn't make an exam because of snow. It took a month to get him to let me take the exam. Very smart though.
OK, my major was bio and secondary ed... and i stress was. i loved h/s bio but this guy bored me for my 1st semester, and thornber in bio 102 bored me 2nd semester. thus i changed majors to computer science. they are both monotone horrible powerpoint teach out of the book teachers. he was nice tho.
The lecture is incredibly boring, but if you take all his notes, and follow his study guides before tests you shouldnt have a problem passing
Teaches off powerpoints. Very boring class but not overly challenging
I personally didn't like his teaching style. He's monotone, reads off his lecture slides, and all his tests focused on detail. I had to study a lot to pull off a B+/A-. The material is general bio, so it switches it's focus. Not too bad though for a required course.
very clear, funny, you have to work to get the grade but its based on how hard you work. ONe of the most straightforward teachers I've had.
Its easy to get close to an A, but you have to work. If you cant figure out whats going to be on tests from the notes, study guides, practice exams then dont bother taking him.
Not the easiest class but I wish all my professors explained things as well and told us what was expected of us as clearly. Not very talkative outside class but he'll help you alot if you ask him nicely. Not the most exciting lectures.
The slides are all online, all you have to do is go to class to fill in some blanks and you can pay attention way more in class. I don't see why people complain about how hard this clas is. Yeah you have to work hard but ...??? Isn't that what some classes are supposed to be like? I would take him for a bunch of classes if Icould.
this class is hard, the tests are hard, in order to get a good grade plan on studying for many hours
definitely a tough course.. tests are difficult.. don't expect to get anywhere if you're not committed to putting in the time n effort to study
not super hard if u go to class and pay attention. you can totally tell what is going 2 be on tests you just have to study alot to learn it. kinda boring lectures sometimes but once in a while he's pretty funny.
Easy class, he's straight-forward, so just study the notes. Alot of it is boring to memmorize...Oh and don't waste your money on the $97 book, I never opened it!!!
I like the Powerpoints, yet there are downsides to this when teaching. He repeats many of the Powerpoints each year. I know he cares about education, so he makes his tests hard. There is a lot of information to study for each of the tests. His course covers the basics of much of biology. To ace this test, one must study a lot.
if you ask him a question thats not on his power point slide he has no clue how to deal with it....
Absolutely hated him.... first day he put me on the spot to answer a question. Class would have been easier if he wasn't so stuck on the slides...he needs to teach so we can understand and not just read word for word whats on the slides we can do that in our own books. Avoid him at all costs!!!!!
Def. write down word for word from the slides and memorize word for word and you'll do fine on the exams. Everything on the exams comes from his lecture slides.
worst lecturer known to man... tries to make jokes.. but they're never funny
Was not helpful at all!

come on, he's the man
First of all, I get a creepy vibe from this guy. Just saying. Class wise, if you go to the classes then you'll know what's on the exam. No point in wasting lots of $ on the book. He gave *easy* extra credit questions on days that a lot of people didn't go to class (like the day before Thanksgiving) and added a point to our grades for each one.
Not the easiest class but he was clear clear clear. Other kids in the class were having an hard time but then I noticed it was the ones that NEVER went to class. He will help you during office hours and give you breaks if you ask.
I thought he was great. it's really easy to follow him and get an idea what he thinks is important and then study that way and get a good grade it you want to work a little. Better than the other half that's for sure.
Good. Probably best thing is how he can explain complicated stuff in a way thats easy for me to understand instead of just talking about all these things that go way over my head
I was scared to take this class after hearing how hard it was with the other people that teach it, but it's not that hard and as a matter of fact it's actually interesting the way he teaches it. Take it from him instead of the other ones that teach ecology.
He didn't seem to realize that it was a 101 class! He taught it like a grad school level! WAAAAY too hard to be a BIO 101 course.
Not too bad. You just have to study. Im a biology major so I had an easier time than most people. I hear he's better than the other options so I was glad I took him.
Got to be one of the best classes in Bio. Some people think hes boring but I thought it was like watching TV with his lectures and all the pictures and examples. Def good and I would tell anyone to take one of his classes. I wish he taught more other classes in Bio instead of some of the lame-Os they have.
I loved this man. He's actually funny if you listen to him, which hardly anyone does. He's really nice and gives bonus points for going to class at times. Exams are straight forward, don't need to open your book, just study notes.
Dr. Wetherbee is a pretty decent professor. He has a weird sense of humor but he is really nice. His exams are fair and his quizzes aren't too hard as long as you study!
Straightforward lectures but exams are a little tricky, alot of studying for a 101 class
He was really clear about what he wanted us to learn. You just had to spend the time to do it. It seemed like he made it easier on us when we werent doing that well and he let people skip the final if they already had an A (which I didnt, but I wish)
He might be a little redundant but I think he is a swell guy. Definitily go to the classes that are right after the exam because he loves little quizzes that really help with your grade. The things he says are so hilarious!
He is so full of himself and his videos that he thinks we love. Hes a jerk but a fair teacher. Lectures are boring but not unbearable. Definately show up after tests cuz he gives out free points like candy.
Incredibly dull, you may want to kill yourself during lecture
he is a very good professor i say, there is nothing wrong with the way he runs things. he lays everythings thing out clearly and is vrry organized. only procrastinators fail his class. he is a very good professore. i'm glad he's round.
hated everything about this class, him, the lecture, and the exams. bio lab has NOTHING to do with class. tests are hard because it's not straight foward all the time it's like you have to analyze biology. if you don't have to take this class, then don't
He is the one to take for bio101. He lays everything out so clearly that there is no way that you don't know what to expect as long as you come to class and study. It's still hard but at least it's up to you. Go and talk to him. He is very helpful in ways to study. Don't take the other bio101 guys they are way too hard.
Read the book go to class, get an A. He tells you everything you need to know to pass the exam. Print your notes before class and fill in the blanks as he reviews it. There is no way anyone should fail BIO101 with Wetherbee.
He lays it all out there. I don'tunderstand why anyone has a hard time unless they don't go to class and read the notes and he constantly harps on you to do both.
Really easy class. You don't need the book if you attend lecture. Exams are really easy. He can be a bit boring sometimes.
I like the way he taught this class, every class he lectures a powerpoint. you take notes, you review it and you have three exams. the first one is decent if you study- the second one is pretty hard though. just dont wait to review for the exams. He has review questions and practice exam available online which helped alot. He's a good teacher
Very straightforward. No surprises on exams. However, he gets annoyed that he's is so straightforward & that people figure they don't need to attend class. He also hates the talker, the texter,& the cellphoners' annoying behaviors. I think he considers that the students are adults and should act like it and often feels like he is babysitting.
He is straightforward, clear and very helpful. He has the notes online so print them out and just fill them in when you go to class. GO TO CLASS! He gives out free points all the time and the class is so much easier if you go. He repeats the important parts so many times that it's impossible to forget them. Don't procrastinate and you'll be fine.
This class was not that hard but if you are not good at biology you have to study a lot. A lot of the information was straight to the point...it wasn't an easy A, but if you need Bio for a Gen Ed. I would recommend this class.
Wetherbee, doesn't laugh at his own jokes. Props for that.
Class easy if you study; DO NOT need to go to class, he simply reads what is on the powerpoint (get notes from someone else); he does give out bonus points occasionally, so it is good to go; You also DO NOT need the book for this class. He gives you all the notes you need online and the study guides, save yourself $160. I got a 95, never read book.
This guy is good if you like the way he teaches. Go to class pay attention to what he's talking about, actually spend a little time studying and you're fine. There's no way that you should be surprised by his tests or anything in the class which is great. He's actually funny at times. If you go see him for help he's very helpful and a nice guy.
Cant complain about not doing well in his class because he makes it up to you. If you study and usually go to class then not too bad. If you don't keep up then there's so much material it can be brutal and he lets the chips fly where they fall.
Can't complain about his teaching styles. Print out the notes before class, and supplement them with what is said in class. Study over the weekends and before exams, and you will get an A. Lets face it, it's either this guy of Heppner, make your choice!
This is the second time taking this class and holy crap I wish I would have taken it from Wetherbee the first time and saved myself all the trouble. Go to class, get the notes, read parts of the book (skip a lot of it) do study guides practice exams I'm getting a B. I got an F last time and I'm not spending much more time, just doing what he says
Does anyone know if Wetherbee scales your final avg in the class at all?
easiest class in the world. boring lectures, just print the notes from online and fill in the blanks in class. go to the lecture because he passes out bonus points for answering questions. easy exams, got all 95% or higher and the final is a breeze seeing I got 4 points off and didn't study. Don't bother buying the book- save yourself $70 because y
I thought he was really good and I completely understand why he would get pissed at students that would be on their phone, talking, sleeping or skipping class all the time. He went over stuff again and again and there were still clueless students. Go to class, get all the online things, pay attention and you will have NO problem and finish bio
Show up to class, remain somewhat lucid therein, do your work in lab, and study a little...very reasonable...notes and practice exams posted, dry sense of humor, multiple choice exams, lowest dropped...quite frankly, i can understand being bored, but if you are seriously struggling, you should reevaluate your life.
Thank God for Weatherbee. I was taking Heppner and pulling my F-ing hair out then I switched into this class and everything was so much easier. Its the same material, its just that in this class you get taught that stuff in lecture and he puts all the crap online so how can you go wrong? If you do its your own fault and you should try taking Hepp.
Beside the apparent midlife crisis and the absolutely sick cellphone tracking skills he is actually a good teacher. Tells you all you need to know but don't even think of asking him questions it will irritate him and confuse you. Attend, study the notes and you should get at least an B+. He gives extra credit sometimes...so attend
Hes the best option for bio 101 students, you don't use the book at all DON'T BUY IT like i did, there is a lot of information to learn for the class, but he gives it all to you in the notes and its up to you if you study it or not, you don't have to go to the lectures, just study the notes.
Go to class, pay attention, watch the movies he puts on his website and you will do fine. Do not buy the book unless you need bio 102.
Don't know if i can say anything that hasn't already been said. Go to class (and get extra credit), don't have your cell phone (he WILL call you out on it), all his tests are from notes (no book). Online practice exams and videos are beyond helpful...so just suck it up and do them and you'll be fine (fine as in...there's no way you can't do well!)
It is just as everyone here says. He lays it all out there and give you movies and study guides and practice exams so if you don't learn it then it's your own fault because he seems to want to get rid of as much guessing and leave it all up to you. I dont mind the cell phone hunting its annoying when people have them out all the time.
It's all true, go to class and use his website and all the stuff he puts on there and you won't have any problem or even see any question on an exam that you're not ready for. If you have the time you know exactly what you need to do to get whatever grade youre after. Best choice for into classes at URI by a mile.
He really tells you all he expects you to know and leaves it up to you to learn it. If you do then you get a good grade if you dont then you dont get a good grade and who can you blame? I wish all my profs were this clear in what they wanted us to learn. That part is def great and makes up for some of his boringness.
He's a good dude. If you have any concerns with your grade, go talk to him. Make sure he knows who you are...it's a big class. DON'T fall behind. GO TO class. Everything is laid out perfectly for you. Most organized grading system I've ever seen.
He only taught 1/2 of the class but I haven't taken a class where there was more help with study guides practice exams, notes online, all that, plus you find out your grades immediately after the tests and know your score all semester. If you don't do good or if you're clueless about your grade then you probably shouldn't be in college. Take him.
ITs just like everyone on here says. He tells you what he wants you to know then asks questions about what he told you he wanted you to know. If you do that then you can do great. If you sit on your ass and wait or expect him to hold your hand then forget it. I've taken him twice now.
Good class. He goes over exactly what you need for the tests. If you read the chapters prior to class and do the study guides, you should do fine on the exams. Make sure you get any notes you miss from someone because the study guides and the tests come directly from the notes. He lays everything out and there are no surprises.
Wetherbee isn't the most exciting guy to listen to but if you actually listen to what he says he's actually really good at explaining things in a way that's easy to understand and makes sense. The hard thing is that there's so much stuff you can't remember it all unless you go over it and over it. I liked him and am taking another class from him.
Goes over what you need.
He is the best one out there for this class from talking to my friends that have the other guys and he tries pretty hard to tell you what he wants you to learn and gives you like 5 ways to learn it. I could've got a better grade if I studied more.
Show up for class! This guy is great and will go to all lengths to help you but you have to do the work. I loved this class-cell replication is the most elegant process I've ever been exposed too! Be responsible or fail. The lab is fascinating as well.
Class very straightforward, all exams are multiple choice and based on the powerpoints in class so dont bother buying the book. The class is kind of boring but as long as you go, take down the notes, and study THOROUGHLY youll do fine.
He's not exactly the most interesting professor but he explains the information in a very clear manner. Overall I'd say I liked him. However, I spent almost 200 dollars on the textbook and didn't use it once. Doesn't take attendance but his exams can be a bit tricky.
He is hard to listen to at 9am, but he's actually pretty funny and you can tell he wants us to learn the stuff because he gives you this and that and the other thing besides the lecture to get you to learn it. I would take another class from him def.
Lectures are kind of boring (try to take MWF-easier to sit through). 3 exams, final, and lab. Take notes/do practice quizzes and you'll be fine. Lab was really easy (TA Rachel Holbert was great). Randomly gives extra credit for showing up to class!
Tough class, boring class at some parts, even though attendance is not mandatory you basically have to attend ever class. Test are tough, a lot the questions are hard and it almost seems like he is trying to trick you, not teach you.
I liked him and liked how he tried to get us to do all the stuff to get a good grade. It's hard in a big class but he was funny sometimes and has good powerpoints and all the other stuff that everyone keeps saying like practice exams and study guides. He's good.
Not the most interesting delivery, but compared to others that I've had he makes some things pretty interesting but come on it's biology so how can it not be dry. I liked his style for the most part and you can tell the main thing he doesn't like is when people try to cruise and not do the work or come to class or on their phone etc etc
Class is boring. He clearly does not have any passion for this subject. He has a terrible teaching style.
Attendance not mandatory, but definitely show up. The powerppoints are helpful though. GO TO CLASS, and definitely GO TO LAB! (PS: Rachel Holbert is the best TA) Exams are difficult. A lot of study needed. But... not a horrible class... Book is useless.
Alls Wetherbee does is read straight from his powerpoints and then expects you to understand the subject. forget going to him for help, he laughs at you and is NO HELP AT ALL.
You pretty much have to go to every class and copy the slides if you want to do well. The exams come straight from the slides and are pretty difficult, but if you study the slides a lot then you should do fine
He was great. I took BIO 101 the first time with Heppner and failed it. Whetherbee was very into what he talked about and I made sure to attend class every day and believe it or not I got a B the second time round. I really learned the second time round and made sure I came away with something.
dont take this class/
Great class. Tests can be a little tricky but all questions come directly from the notes. I got an A by going to class and studying the notes. I never even opened the book, so don't waste your money!
Excellent Bio Teacher. His class can be a bit boring, but his power points are very clear and concise. Don't bother buying the textbook, the exams are 100% based on the in class notes and the online hw can easily be completed using Google. Go to class(with a computer) since he only posts half the notes online.Tests are fair, not hard to get an A.
Very clear, both with material covered and his expectations. Don't use/look at cell phone or texting. He'll entertain the rest of the class at your expense. His lectures come across as kinda boring if BIO isn't your thing. But, GREAT, funny guy if you know him outside of lecture. Will help you if he can. Xtra credit if you attend class.
Horrible professor!!!!!!! Does not seem like he is interested in even teaching the class! Very mean professor, not approachable at all. Do not take his class!
This class was somewhat difficult. He went through the material very quickly, which made it difficult to absorb much of the material. The class was extremely boring, to the point where many people would go online and play farmville.
Not the most exciting, but has to be the most clear about what he wants you to know, how you're going to be graded and what not to do during class (texting). If you don't get what ever grade you want then it's your own fault because he puts it out there and makes it up to you. Fastest I've ever got test scores. He can be funny at times.
Everyone was telling me to get in 101 from him and I see why. If you like being told what you need to do to get a good grade and then can go and do it, he's great. If you need someone to keep getting on you and make you do stuff then he's not for you. I got a good grade even though I was scared to death to take bio.
This man should not be teaching. Like most professors he knows what he is talking about but uses his knowledge in a negative manner. He is rude, cocky and has no clue on how to run a classroom, let alone a lecture hall. Shows little interest in his students and would rather use his time calling people out for cell phone use then teaching.
Best professor yet, very clear and helpful. Power points very well explained. Knows what he is doing. If I were you I would definitely take him.(:
He caught me cheating on a test and I thought he was going to have me kicked out of school, but I flunked the class and had to take it over again. Best thing that could have happened cuz I took it from him again and he helped me and I actually learned the stuff. I wouldve been screwed for all of my other classes after that if it wasn't for him.
Im glad I took marine bio from him cuz he was interesting most of the time and tried to be funny and he seems like he knows alot about everything. I didnt want to take it from the other two that teach it after I heard stories about them and I was lucky
Very uninteresting, but his tests are STRAIGHT from the lectures, so if you memorize his powerpoints there is no way you won't get an A. I got a 100 on every test because I studied the powerpoints. He has office hours but is useless & rude, so don't bother. I went to see him about a transfer paper, and he accused me of cheating because I had an A.
This is an awful professor. You learn nothing useful in his class that you can't learn from just reading the textbook. Class should not be mandatory , all he does is read exactly off the power points that are online. And most of all he only pays attention to the students that are not paying attention.
Probably the funniest teacher in the most arrogant and rude way. Hell make you count how many kids r in class if ur texting or call you out. Favorite quote from him "These species are conservative..unlike mitt romney" The funniest is when he takes a lap around the lecture hall and tries to call kids out for being on other websites
Attendance isn't mandatory at all, all his tests are straight from the power point. The text book is useless. I wouldn't even buy it. He calls out kids all the time, pretty funny. Can be a really good class
Dr. Wetherbee is really awesome. He is so funny and always waits until everyone is done with the slide. He makes it possible for you to succeed in his classes. He is super cool.
I know that the people that complain about him not doing a good job teaching probably don't even go to class because he tells you exactly what he's going to ask you questions about on the tests and then he asks you about them. It's really your own fault if you can't figure out how to do good in this class out of all classes. He's funny too.
Yeah I don't know how anyone taking this class can't blame themselves only if they don't do well. Everything on the tests comes from the notes so if you don't know it then who's fault is that? He does say something funny just about every day.
Not a bad professor. He gives lectures along with his power points and they can be a bit boring. Best way to do well in the class is to attend the lecture and take notes. Pretty funny guy and throws in a witty comment or joke here and there.
Average professor.Although attendance isn't required you should definitely go since he sneaks a few questions on the exam that have nothing to do with bio onto the exam to see who comes.Yahoo answers will be your best friend for masteringbiology. STUDY! notes on the powerpt on sakai. he will make you count every person for texting during lecture.
If you want to do well in this class you will. I barely went to class the 2nd half of the semester-- if you can get notes or fill them on your own don't bother going. Study the powerpoints and youll do fine
I'm going to get an A from him and I'm glad I took this with him. He's demanding in a way but he's funny and makes things interesting enough to go to class and to study and he gives you study guides and practice exams that tell you exactly what you need to know. Just do that and you can get an A.
I got a B and it wasn't that hard. Biggest piece of advice - go to class and pay attention to the stuff that he tells you because that's what's going to be on his tests. I read the book and it helped but I didn't really study the book, but it still helped.
Overall I had a great time in this class and would recommend it to anyone even if just to fill a science requirement. I would take any class he teaches in the future because all I had to do to pass the tests was go to class and take notes. As long as you pay attention, you only have to look over your notes a couple times to study and you're fine.
I guess the thing that I liked the most about the class is that he leaves it up to you how well you are going to do. If you keep up and go to class and do the work it's really not that hard. He picked a bunch of things about biology that most people were interested in so that made it so you could stand the class even though I don't like biology.
Course was easy if you went to class and made sure you had all the notes. He does put his slide shows online but its important to go to class because he leaves some things blank so you still go to class and pay attention. If you take the time to learn and understand material rather than just memorizing you will do good.
Not a bad teacher, he explains the material clearly and concisely. He's definitely not the best teacher I've ever had but the class is ridiculously easy. All of the questions on the test are almost directly from the lecture so it's good idea to go to class. As long as your semi-competent and you attend class regularly then it should be an easy A.
Ya he explains things clearly and all that and gives you alot of stuff to help you and tells you what to expect but theres so much stuff in the class that its not that easy and you have to work hard if youre not a bio genius. I got a B but I worked hard to get it. Now Im going to fine for the rest of my bio. Go to class is the biggest thign.
Wetherbee can be very monotoned, but he's super smart and knows what he's talking about. Lectures do seem to drag on, but the test are straight from the notes/powerpoints.
Very clear, a little boring, but funny and entertaining and good coverage of all kinds of topics. Tests were exactly from notes so if you know them you can do well. Best of the marine bio teachers at URI
I'm glad I got to take a class from him cuz I've been hearing that he's good and he was. Explains very very very clearly even hard topics. Tests exactly over what's in the notes and on his study guides. If you don't get atleast a B it's your own fault. I wish I took him for more marine bio classes
He's a great teacher! He uses powerpoints and you can just fill in the blanks. Go to class and sometimes he asks questions that you hand in for extra points. Don't buy the book but you'll need the access code. His tests are easy and fair. Definitely take his class for bio!
I didn't really want to take a bio class but I had to for my gen ed. This one was way more interesting than I ever thought it would be because he talked about so many things that we hear about and know about but never learn about so it was almost fun (not quite) listening to him go on and on about everything. Good gen ed.
He was the worst teacher i've ever had. He mad the subject so boring, and he was super rude to the students in the class. I DO NOT recommend him to anyone.
Do not miss a single class. If you do miss a class then get notes from a classmate. His exams are very tricky. Multiple choice. Three of four answers will look like they belong. He also adds random questions that he only discusses in class. Final grade based on 300pts. Exam heavy grade. Every class is a Power Point Presentation. Read the book.
Wetherbee is a great professor, he knows what he is talking about, and seems to enjoy teaching. He uses PowerPoints and makes them interesting. Do not listen to the people who say he is terrible. The only reason why they said that was because they probably got caught using their iPhone. Great guy to know outside of the lecture hall;funny and nice.
I waited to take this class from him rather than the other two because I heard he teaches more interesting stuff and is more clear and more fair. So far it's been exactly that. I should have taken more classes from him in the past. He's actually funny even though I'm not sure he's trying to be sometimes.
Wetherbee is the man. He has extremely dry humor and if you make an impression on him he'll usually like you immediately. Easy tests. Simple Notes. Memorize his class notes and you will receive an A no problem!
If you want everything given to you like notes and study guides and practice exams this is the one. You get your test scores like 10 minutes after the test somehow. Funny every now and then.
Good professor. Posts all lecture notes online and explains all material fairly well. Will take some time out of class to review exam material. Attend all lectures and study from your notes and you should be fine.
I LOVE Wetherbee. Super funny, lectures go by super quick, and explains the information well. Would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Wetherbee always makes jokes with his students. He is friendly and passionate about what he teaches. Go to class to get his slides, they are fill in the blank and not even half the information is posted unless you get it in class.
Wetherbee is a great instructor. His lectures are well put and easy to follow. The only problem is that he has a real dry humor. He loves to call on people who have their phones out so be careful.
Everything you need to know for the class is in the notes and the power points, he doesn't take attendance but I wouldn't want to miss any classes. Tests are all multiple choice and he has really great study guides practice exams. Basically all the tools are there.
Lectures can be boring in the beginning but he soon opens up and cracks jokes about students. Be sure to attend lectures because if you don't you will miss out on vital information that will be on the exam.
This class is incredible easy. I rarely went to class and got an A. As long as you devote the night before an exam to studying you'll do fine. The few times I went to class Wetherbee was not helpful and went off irrelevant tangents. I recommend sleeping in and getting the lecture notes from a friend.
He is a great teacher, but if you are not willing to work then you won't do well. If you get on his good side he is a great connection. I got a research position because of him and i'm only a second semester freshmen.
Wetherbee is a really good biology professor. He loves the subject and is clear and concise with his explanations. For BIO 101, it was fairly easy to get an A, especially if you have high school biology background. Wetherbee will keep you on your toes during class and keep you laughing. Would definitely recommend him!
He's very smart but when it comes to usefulness on the subject of Marine Biology, he does not know much and reads off of very simplistic slides. Also, half the information on his tests are not related to the actual lecture material.
Def didn't read off notes. Pay attention or he'll call you out. Best Marine Bio prof. He mixed up the lectures alot with jokes even though some of them were bad. If you don't know what questions he's going to ask on exams then you have to be clueless.
Wetherbee is the man!! I loved this professor, he was very sarcastic and funny and his slides were clear... easy to read and understand. If you go to the lectures and the SI sessions you will do well- you receive study guides at SI that are basically questions on the tests. This class was very enjoyable and I recommend to anyone.
Professor Wetherbee is a great professor - his lectures are good and his PowerPoints are really helpful. For a class of 300 students, he does a really good job teaching and keeping everyone engaged. The exams are kind of tough but not too bad once you know what to study. I would highly recommend enrolling in BIO101 with Professor Wetherbee.
whetherbee is the man. gave extra credit for showing up to the lectures and is hysterical.
Dr. Wetherbee was awesome. I had him last semester and I was not very confident in biology, however, his lectures and personality made me enjoy biology and gain an appreciation for it. The only reason why people would be saying negative things is if they did not do well in the class. You will do amazing if you show up and try hard. He is a great!!!
I found that you really need to know the material inside and out to do well in the class. Don't try to wing it or you will end up with 70's... unless you're okay with that. Don't bother buying the book you won't need it. But do go to class because he likes to add questions to the test that were from class only. No other work besides exams
I had to take this class but it turned out to be really interesting and he throws in oddball stuff that's funny and alot of examples that are interesting and cool pictures to look at.
Dr. Wetherbee is the BEST professor you will ever have. I love him
Professor Wetherbee is one of the best professors or teachers I have ever had. His lectures are so amazing and he really helps you understand the difficult to grasp things. Definitely get Wetherbee.. he is the best
Not a good teacher in general. Was really into taking an official Ecology course but after the semester I realized I had learned little new material. Most of what he taught I had already hear/ read about in other classes and he didn't go into further detail. Didn't really give informed answers on questions extended from the lectures.
He's a really good professor. Explains things clearly and has a good sense of humor.. Somehow he gets the final grades up like 2 seconds after the exam. Great guy and an excellent person to know
He is the man! He makes BIO really fun. He is very sarcastic and calls you out if you aren't paying attention which I enjoyed watching. He posts the notes online but they are incomplete so make sure you go to lecture or have friends who do. He throws extra credit at you just because and his tests are based completely on his notes.
Class was harder than I expected, but the way that he teaches is so clear that all you have to do is study a little harder if you want a good grade. I waited to take the class this semester instead of fall and I'm so glad I did. Pretty funny in class and he knows so many students names IDK how he does that.
Wetherbee is a great teacher.. he is good at explaining everything and he is really funny. You need to show up to class though because there are so many ways you'll benefit. Overall he is a really great teacher and a good person to know.
Seems to be very smart and explains things well. Pretty easy to tell what's going to be on test from lectures and study guides and practice exams. Not the easiest class but you pretty much get what you work for and don't wonder about grading and stuff like in some other classes.
He says the same things over and over again until you understand it unless youre not paying attention then he will call you out. Then on the tests he asks you what he told you over and over again. That's straightforward as long as you go to class and spend some time going over the things he says in class. My hardest class but manageable.
He is the worst teacher. He gives good advice but does not know how to teach at all. He has good lectures and his exams are based off the lectures, but if you dont reread over the lectures you dont pass his study guides are awful and only puts some questions from the practice exam on the test but depends
Wetherbee is the best! He's very clear with his lectures, and repeats the really important points every time class meets. His exams are based on the notes, so showing up to class makes or breaks your grade. If you can, take BIO 101 with Wetherbee!
I havent struggled so much on an exam before. I did well in high school and i understood the material in class and felt confident going into the exam and leaving, but when it came to the grade it was BAD. Failing bad. Under 40% bad.
Professor Wetherbee is hilarious! I loved Bio101 with him. His tests are purely based on his lectures in class--so make sure you go to class, and you won't have trouble receiving a good grade. Bio is lots of memorization, but his tests are straightforward. Wetherbee is good. Try to take his class.
Wetherbee is one of the best professors I have had throughout school. Just finished his class last week and he really is a great guy and teacher. As long as you show up, do your work & study, your grade will be fine. He's really funny too with jokes every now and then. Would highly recommend him
I honestly don't know why anyone would say anything bad about Professor Wetherbee. He is such a solid teacher and he is so funny!!! In high school I hated bio, but Wetherbee made me really enjoy it. If you can, take HIS class. He's the best out there and he gets the grades in like 5 minutes after you take the exam somehow
This class was hard for me but I managed to do well because of Professor Wetherbee. His lectures are really good and helpful. He's a really great guy and has a good sense of humor, which makes the class more interesting. he is a smart guy so he will know if you have fake excuses or are cheating. I would definitely recommend him. loved him
Whatever you do, do not have your phone out during lecture. He will call you out so fast and make you count all of the students present, which is roughly 300, then he'll use you as an example of the exams. He's ok, very lecture heavy and hw heavy. Tests are HARD and you really need to know what you're studying. Overall I managed to do well.
Good teacher. Attendance isn't mandatory, you don't need to read the book. Just study the lecture notes and you'll be fine.
Terrible teacher, he makes his student feel on edge the whole time hoping they don't get called on. And when they do it is embarrassing he likes to laugh at people. Ive never struggled so much in a class before and my major is KIN that should be easy for me. Bio 121 is easier than this. He is not a very approachable person.
Great teacher, he makes his students pay attention the whole time hoping they don't get called on. And when they do everyone learns. I struggled in this class but there is alot of material. My major is KIN so this class made Bio 121 and 242 easier for me. He is a very approachable person.
Marine environmental physiology my fav class at URI so far. Kind of hard and kind of alot of work but really interesting and he explains things in a way that make sense. No book is hard to get used to. Pretty funny pictures he has of people that he says are him. I hear someone else is teaching it after this. Too bad.
Go to lecture and make sure you write down all of the notes. Exams questions are pulled from the powerpoint except he will add in random questions that you would only know if you were at lecture. Very funny, but don't get caught on your phone or he'll call you out. Would definitely take class with him again!
Awful professor. Not kind and welcoming at all. He is rude to his students and not approachable. If you attempt to approach him after class or in office hours to ask about the material he pretty much brushes you off or makes you feel stupid for not understanding it.
Dry humor and tries to engage the students with jokes or sarcasm; he's awesome. The exams are 50 multiple choice and are taken directly from notes so you know what to expect and he never puts anything on a test that hasn't been covered in class.
Go to class, he posts the powerpoints with important information missing. If you understand the slides and can do the practice questions without a problem you will be fine. You have to buy a $60 code for mastering bio which counts as much as a test but you can find the answers online. Lectures are interesting and aren't hard to sit through.
Wetherbee is a good professor, you definitely have to work for your grade but if you do, you should have no problem passing. if you miss a few lectures you will still be fine he posts everything online, mastering biology homework only due once a week and takes about 15 minutes, you can find it on quizlet. study hard and you will be fine
Brad is a bro! He wears Hawaiians everyday and works with sharks!!! His grading is fair and you should always come to class because some test questions are random things from class. Bradley Wetherbee is an OG Wetherbeast
He's a very solid professor. He puts the powerpoints on Sakai, but leaves things blank on purpose, so go to class to get that missing information. His exams basically cover what are on the powerpoints. He will call people out and ask them questions if he catches them on their phone. Also, he makes you take notes by hand, but gives you time to copy.
He only lectures. Sometimes he will put random questions on the exams about things he says in class that have nothing to do with that we're learning. Things like how many freshman are in this class or the most popular major. It seems as though he is trying to trick his students and not just let them learn what they are trying to.
Bradley Wetherbee's class is really boring he'll try to make his power points relevant to the class by putting bieber and irrelevant things on his slide but on the exams he will ask you about the irrelevant things so pay attention he puts slides up but they are halfway blank so you have to attend class. Grades are exams + mastering bio
First off, don't even buy the textbook, just get the access code bc it gives you an online copy of the textbook. Wetherbee was a pretty good teacher but reads right off the slides. If you do the lecture study guides and exam practice questions he puts up every week you should be fine for the exams just don't wait last minute to do all of them.
Basic biology class so tests were pretty easy. Put powerpoint online to view/print but leaves out words or whole slides so you have to come to class. Definitely need to study for exams as there is quite a bit of material on each. Lowest exam grade is dropped but should still try on all exams.
I LOOOOOVE Wetherbee. He has a dry sense of humor which a surprising majority of people don't understand/don't enjoy but he's one of the nicest professors I have ever known. He always gives a clear idea of how the class is going to be, he doesn't stand for excuses usually but he is available to help outside of class if you can't understand.
Great professor. But he leaves words off his powerpoints so if you don't go to class, you'll have incomplete notes. Study all of his powerpoints (and sometimes syllabus) and you'll be fine. Everything is from there.
Lectures are mandatory if you want to do well in the class. Gives hints as to what is on exams. Helpful if you see him outside of class or after class. Has a dry sense of humor, and exam questions all come from lecture/power point. You will do well in class if you're willing to put two to three hours of studying aside a week for this class.
Go to class, he posts the lectures online but they often have blanks in some places. Honestly, if you go to class and use class notes to the study for the tests you will get a good grade. He's a funny guy. I've taken two classes with him and would definitely take another one.
Dr. Wetherbee has an extremely dry sense of humor. His tests follow strictly the powerpoints, so you only need to study those. He provides weekly study guides and practice questions and in0-class assignments that boost your grade. He also has a lot of opportunities for undergraduate research so be sure to ask him about his research!
Dr. Wetherbee is a real gem of a guy. Has a unique sense of humor that takes some getting used to and enjoys roasting people on a daily basis. Don't take what he says to heart, most of his sass is sarcastic. He gives specific hints about exams that you'll only pick up if you go to class, so try not to skip often. Overall a good resource and prof.
This class is very easy and all the exam answers are multiple choice and come straight from the lecture slides. However you have to go to class for attendance and to fill in blanks on the slides. Just memorize the slides and you'll pass. The weekly quizzes are online and manageable and the homework is easy as well.
Even though his lectures were straight forward, I thought he was super mean. Some people might see him as having dry humor, but on the first day of class he basically said "get ready to fail." So un-motivating! I thought he was rude, and could care less about his students.
Go to all lectures, and take notes. All of his exams are straight from the powerpoints. He gives them online, but they are incomplete. His sense of humor is very dry, so if that is not your style class may drag on. I wish this guy was my dad
Wetherbee is mad funny. He has a really dry sense of humor but you can easily tell hes a nice guy. Probably one of the best profs Ive had
The best bio teacher. He tells you exactly what is due, and exactly what you need to do to pass his class. The work load is easily handleable and the tests are entirely on notes you take in class.
Honestly, one of the rudest professors I have ever had in my college career. The entire grade of the course is based on quizzes and tests and there is no room for bringing up a grade. He is extremely rude and frequently calls out students in class. Some may say its just a dry sense of humor but Id say that he's just not a nice guy.
Attendance is not technically mandatory but lecture slides posted are intentionally missing information so you will go. Exams are 50 multiple choice straight from the lectures. Quizzes are timed but if you've been in class they're easy. Grading criteria clearly outlined and exam averages are usually 80%. Solid professor.
Dr. W is a cool guy but an even better prof. Im majoring in bio and I definitely want to take more classes with him. Ive learned a lot from him and he has a lot of connections. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him you should 100%
Dr. Wetherbee is low-key a really funny guy, his sense of humor is just so dry that it comes off as awkwardness sometimes. The class and lab are really fun and well organized, Wetherbee clearly loves the material and is willing to talk about it to anyone. Nice guy with plenty of opportunities to get a good grade. Lots of memorization but it's fun.
This has been my second class with Wetherbee and I plan to take him again. He made this semester very easy for us considering COVID and did not do anything outrageous to us during this time. He made it simple and concise. However, in class it is important to take notes as there are blank sides if you look at them onlin. Overall, funny and cool guy!
Dr. Wetherbee is a great professor. Info is comprehendible and to the point. He's honestly hilarious and has so many incredible research opportunities
I learned a lot from the class and his lectures were long but really great. He is actually knowledgable about what he teaches and you can tell he has more experience than practically any other professors I had. I think you get more out of this class than most. I honeslty really appreciated taking a course with him
Brad Wetherbee is my bestie. Once you understand his sense of humor and play along with his jokes, you will understand that he is a great guy. He is very knowledgeable about the subjects that he teachers (especially sharks) and really cares about all of his students. Take his classes.
Favorite professor I've ever had. Amazing research and knowledge
Great class and great professor. Cares about students and goes out of his way to help them. I wish I could have taken more of his classes
He's awesome. take the class
Awesome
Dry sense of humor that can be intimidating but once you get used to it he's a nice guy who wants his students to pass. Need to go to each class; he posts slides before class but omits some so he knows which students are consistently skipping. Most information on slides, so easy to copy, but he'll add some commentary that may show up on quizzes.
Professor Wetherbee has a dry sense of humor, but he's genuinely invested in helping students succeed. While attendance is a must, the course is well-organized, with helpful slides and clear grading criteria. Unstuckstudy AI was a game-changer for my exam prep - highly recommend!
great classes
He's really good. Has awesome opportunities for students and actually cares about helping his students succeed. the best
the goat of all marine biology i love this man
