i love this teacher, he is very funny at times. he makes the lesson extremely interesting. i made an A+ in his class.
he is a really nice teacher and grades very easy. the papers are based on the test reviews and he helps a lot.
McCary is the best math prof. I ever have! He's very good at explaining things. He also makes learning fun by telling us math humor jokes. I highly recommended him. And he's very good looking :]
McCary is a great math professor, everything is clear and the tests come straight from the hwk assignments. He isn't boring and he knows what he's doing.
McCary is a great math professor. He is very clear in teaching and you will do fine in his class if you go to class and do the hwk assignments on time. The exams come straight from the hwk assignments.
I am TERRIBLE at math, and he is literally the best teacher I've ever had. I walked out of the class understanding every topic. My only complaint is that his reviews for the tests were weak. I definitely recommend him, but be prepared to do a good amount of work. It was a hard class, but I learned a lot and feel prepared for the next Calculus.
Great professor. Crystal clear explanations and great online support.
Dr. McCary is the best math professor I've had. It's important for me to have a good math instructor since it's not my strong suit and I never have trouble understanding what he's teaching. His lessons are carefully planned out and his answers are very thorough.
He's a really great professor! He's clear with the lesson, and will explain things over and over again if you need that. You still need to study though and do the homework! Not doing it will hurt you pretty bad.
He's strict but knowledgable. Quizzes EVERY week, only 3-4 questions ea, given @ end of class w/ only 15 min to take them (only area I struggled in:timed quizzes) I took Tue/Thur PM class & HW was posted Wednesday evening, due sun @ 11:59p. Lowest quiz & hw grades are dropped. Test very similar to quiz.Do your HW & re-write notes daily recommended!
He is the best professor ever. Very helpful and his lectures are very clear. Attendance isn't mandatory but he sends around a role sheet so at the end of the semester if you need a little bump to get an A and the role sheet shows you came to class, he will help you. He is awesome! Take his class!
Good teacher. You will receive the grade you earn. Do the work and you will make an A.
Great class, McCary knows a lot! I knew it all from high school, but I still enjoyed the class.
Great professor just a repeat of high school calculus. Crystal clear and works through the problems completely. If you plan on coming to class come on time, he is extremely punctual.
Awesome professor, very clear and professional. Punctual, responsive, and helpful, if you do the work you'll end up with an A.
McCary is the best math professor I've had. If you do the work and study, you'll get an A. He never uses a new term without defining it. His sense of humor speaks to me. Love him!
He is easily one of the best professors for Mathematics. Extremely clear with every thing taught in class and with assignments. Always ready to help if you make use of his office hours. If stuck in an assignment, go to his office, show that you attempted a question and he will literally give you the answer. Hard work will be credited.
Best math professor I've ever had. He explains everything very well, and cracks jokes during class. Be warned though, his tests are very difficult if you don't go out of your way to understand the material.
HE. IS. AWESOME.
He is the best math professor I've ever met. I actually didn't get assigned to his lecture, but I go to it instead of the professor I had, because this guy is really good at teaching the material. He posts weekly review notes online, in time for the weekly quizzes. I definitely recommend you to try and get this professor.
Definitely my favorite math instructor so far in my life. Just a great person. Very friendly, kindly, loving, very intelligent, and he always wears white T-shirt with blue jeans and running shoes. My favorite math teacher, although his advanced Calc 2 class little bit challenging, he is such a wonderful person and great and intelligent instructor.
THE BEST. A true gentleman and amazing teacher. The class is a joy to attend and he's understanding. Best math class I ever attended, and I feel like I learned a lot. Make sure you go to class, because the way he explains things is PERFECT.
Not math minded at all but he is very clear with notes and well organized. Open and responsive to all Qs and polite. A lot of work (online hwk, take home quiz, in class quiz, and 3 tests, final is cumulative) but do it and you should be in good shape. Go to class bc he takes attendance (not required but can boost final grade). Highly recommend!
Don't bother buying the textbook, it isn't used. McCary is the best math professor I have ever had. I have always sucked at math and walked out of this class with an A-. He explains everything to the level that tricky concepts become trivial. Do all your work and dont miss any classes and you WILL get an A. Not a very tough class, just do your work
This is by far the best Math professor I've EVER had. He explains things in a way that is very clear. I am HORRIBLE in Math, but doing so well in his class because of his teaching techniques. Yes, it's a lot of work, but I see why because it helps you over all. EXCELLENT PROFESSOR!!!!
I took him for college alg, calc I and II. Best math teacher I've ever had. Explains things crystal clear and breaks things down to the basics. Without McCary I would have never passed math. He's AWESOME. Work load is heavy but it's worth it in the long run. Really good professor. I still remember the quadratic formula! Best teacher ever!!!
Brady Mccary is the most helpful calculus professor ever. He made calculus fun because you got to understand so much of it after he explained it so brilliantly.
Dr. McCary is a very helpful professor. He is excellent at explaining Calculus in terms that are understandable. His homework is very hard and time consuming, but his exams are much easier. He usually gives a study guide with similar questions to the ones that appear on the test. I would take him for any math course.
he is very smart, has a good sense of humor, and makes everything you have to study less painful. everyone loves him
Very knowledgeable and an amazing professor. He is extremely helpful during class and in his office hours. He teaches in a way that makes calculus less painful and in some ways fun! I would highly recommend taking him for any math class. Online homework is easy, take home quizzes are annoying, but quizzes and exams are very manageable.
Very knowledgeable and helpful. Awesome lecturer who manages to make calculus a little bit less painful and sometimes even enjoyable. Would recommend taking him if you have the chance. Homework is easy, take home quizzes are tough but doable, quizzes are easy and exams are manageable.
He makes calculus so easy because he breaks everything down to the basics and relates tough concepts to what's been taught in easier math classes. HWS and quizzes are easy. Exams aren't tough if you study. Take home quizzes were the most annoying
Honestly doesn't even matter which prof you have everyone from all 2417 classes fail the exams. He explains well that's it. He doesn't respond to any emails at all. I passed with a D-. You have HW, Take Home Quizzes, Problem section quizzes, online exams (everyone fails), written exams. You'll spend good amount of time in the math lab. Good luck
Exams are very difficult. Take him because he teaches the material well, but know that you have to do much of the heavy lifting. Exams are beyond the scope of the lectures and sometimes the book.
His understanding of maths is so great and he makes sure that he transfers that level of understanding to his students in the most efficient and lucid way
I have met only 2 remarkable people in my life. Dr. McCary is one of them. I took him during the summer 2013. He has an unusual love for math. Almost everyone likes him even though his course is tough. We would jokingly compare him to Abe Lincoln, due to his eccentric and likable behavior
He's really friendly and helpful if you need help with materials in the class.
He is an excellent prof. He tells jokes to keep the class involved. Granted the jokes are math jokes, but I really like his attitude.
Quite possibly the greatest math teacher I've ever had in my entire life. His love for math shows in his amazing teaching skills. Students from other sections with different professors skip their class to come to his lectures. Great sense of humor too!
Dr. McCary is one of the best professors I have ever had, maybe the best. I hated calculus prior to this course, but his love and enthusiasm for it is contagious. I ended up loving calculus by the end, it's now one of my favorite subjects. Do not take any other professor over him, he is easily the best. Great balance of difficulty and reward.
Definitely the best math professor I've ever had. Conveys information with exceptional clarity, and has a great enthusiasm for the material. Expect to work hard to do well, but he gives you all the tools you need to succeed.
We need to start a cult of McCary. That's how good he is.
A brilliant professor and a very nice, positive guy. Strongly recommend to take him! Attendance is not mandatory, but extremely helpful. Passionate about his subjects, available during office hours and reachable via email. Explains the concept behind the formulas. Does not waste time on talking off topic! Take him if you can!
Mccary is the best math professor you could ever hope for! Come to class and you'll have a clear understanding on how to do any problem. Mccary is engaging and clearly loves math, and he always tells corny math jokes which I found hilarious. I scheduled my classes around mccary's class. Believe me when I say you don't want to take anyone else.
Dr. McCary is the best professor you could have for calculus. He truly loves math and tries to make it fun. He has no accent and is very easy to understand. Helpful outside of class. His class is difficult, but use the tutors and textbook for help.
Incredibly helpful and understanding. Makes the math very clear, willing to move test dates/lenient on homework, answers questions in class very thoroughly, lots of office hours that he's very helpful in. Best professor I've ever had.
Dr. McCary is the absolute best calculus teacher out there! He's very helpful and his lectures are fun to attend. The exams are challenging but do-able. The best thing about him is how approachable he is! I suggest going to his office hours and asking questions in class. Also, you don't need to buy the textbook. I rarely used it, if ever.
Best professor ever very knowledgeable not only in math but in engineering as well over qualified for UTD. I'd recommend him for any math course if you like math. And if you don't like math I'd recommend him for the same reasons.
Professor McCary is by far the best instructor I've had at UT Dallas. I've struggled with Math 1314 before with another professor there and was discouraged but luckily I ended up in Professor McCary's class this semester. He made mathematics interesting, easy to understand, and gives clear, concise examples. Teaches other math courses as well!
Dr. McCary is amazing. He's super clear, there are never any "stupid questions", he's smart, funny, and a gifted educator. He genuinely cares about his students and wants everyone to understand the fundamentals. He is the first math teacher I've had that explains why things are the way they are and uses geometry as a companion to algebra.
Dr. McCary is an amazing, knowledge filled, professor. He cares a lot about his students and is believes there is no such thing as "dumb questions." His class is wonderful and has a really good atmosphere. Before I came to this class, I hardly understood algebra but he made everything much more clear and simple.
Dr. McCary is an amazing professor! Best math professor I have ever had! Would definitely take him for any other math course. He is full of knowledge and makes math fun with his math jokes. I loved attending his lectures.
Take note, focus on class, learn a lot.
McCary is a great algebra professor. The class isn't too challenging but he'll make it interesting. He also actively tells you why the concepts your learning are important and how they apply to future math classes. Just be sure to go to class. He gives out take home quizzes randomly and if you miss more than one, your grade will drop significantly
He was super helpful, but THQs are sometimes downright impossible. Online homework can be done using online math help and questions come straight from the book. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he definitely takes it into consideration when using final grades.
he's pretty cool and funny... i guess. also, he's really intimidating. sometimes he'll forget to send emails but that's the only bad thing about him. the exams are literally his quizzes but with different numbers.
As the course progresses, it become exponentially more difficult to keep up with. Will assign 5-10 written homeworks per class period due the next class and are downright impossible sometimes. 2-3 quizzes per week and have to be taken in the testing center
No matter who you take the course will be challenging. Brady legitimately cares about his students and understands when situations come up. My biggest complaint would be the inconvenience of the testing center hours. This is my second time taking this course and I am pretty sure I will pass. Show up to class & use the MML STUDY PLAN/ UTD MATH LAB!
He is very knowledgable in his teachings and will give you more information than expected but keeps it interesting. You will have to work in this class, thinking outside the box and practice. Utilize the campus math lab!!
Summer layout: 2 Quizzes (Testing Center), multiple written, and online homework due weekly. NO TESTS - Quiz average is worth the better part of your final grade. Does not specify what will be covered on Quizzes and usually only 2/3 questions are graded. Two+ hour lectures with no break. Extremely difficult layout. Notes are uploaded and superb tho
Dr. McCary is passionate about mathematics. He is a great lecturer. He gives a lot of homework, but is more than willing to help you understand it. Exams are difficult, but reflect the review material well. Go to class and you should do just fine.
Professor McBrady is a great professor. The class is just awful and super hard. He is very organized and will upload videos of the lecture as well as upload scanned versions of your graded assignments. THE MATH LAB IS NECESSARY TO PASS. For his summer classes, he gives 2 weekly quizzes, online hw and written hw.
No syllabus. Grading unclear. Advice? Do all assignments, especially the last ones. Be careful with formatting. Include comments. Also make sure your programs pass the tests. Be prepared for pointless lectures and spending most of your time in the Lab. The lectures only focus on the basic math but not the programming. Do your own work.
No syllabus was given, grading criteria for homework assignments was not specified, and very little instruction on the subject material (Programming with MATLAB) was given. In fact, the lectures often covered nothing related to programming whatsoever. However, during lectures he taught the underlying algebra clearly and understandably.
Took intro to MatLab from him. Class was Ok, but poorly organized. It really didn't seem like the whole thing was set up well at all. Grades weren't even posted until well after the date they were due (like 2 weeks after). If you knew much about programming you could get by skipping class pretty easily, though comp. lab days were nice for HW.
Overall, Dr. McCary is an amazing professor. He is immensely intelligent, does a fantastic job explaining difficult concepts, and is incredibly helpful. However, because Fall 2016 was the first semester the class was offered at UTD, it was poorly structured. There was no syllabus, and final grades weren't put in until 2 weeks after they were due.
Worst class I've ever taken. No syllabus, no grades AT ALL posted until 30 days after the semester ended (no homework grades or midterm grades or any grades). He ended up being a really tough grader, and failed several students. The program itself is user-friendly, but the homeworks were increasingly difficult.
McCary is an amazing professor! If you email him he responds right away with helpful feedback and is willing to meet essentially anytime to help you with questions. The class did not have a syllabus, but I am not sure if that is McCary or the math department since the class was new. Ask for help and GO TO LAB!
Best math professor ever. He gives amazing lectures, records them, and posts them on YouTube. Exams are in the testing center, and you have to show all of your work. You have to learn the material. Go to the math lab and the satellite math lab. Some of the exam questions were difficult. I'm not good at math, but I learned in his class.
Dr. McCary makes the class a lot more difficult than it needs to be. You can tell he really loves math but this causes tangents during lecture where he tells you the history of how formulas were invented which just confuses you and wastes time. I ended up teaching myself online.
have taken him for two different classes, his lectures are very intersting
The most useless class I've ever taken. The name of the course is misleading. I thought it would cover how multivariable calculus is used in engineering, statistics, etc but he makes it so theoretical and abstract. Plus he makes the class very unorganized and the structure of it is just awful. Idk why it's a prereq to stats courses.
Brady McCary is an amazing lecturer, he goes very into detail and makes sure you understand well the concepts. He is very accessible after class. The homework is easy along with the quizzes. greatly recommend.
He explains everything so clearly and in so many different ways that if you listen in class you'll get an A. Theres a quiz every week and lots of homework but thats how it is for most math classes. He records his lectures and posts them on Youtube so you can always go back and watch them if you skip.
Unfortunately it is my opinion that he is the most irresponsible professor Ive ever had. After a month he stopped posting homeworks that would help us with the quizzes. Speaking of, quizzes often arrived late to the testing center. Also unfortunately he only answered one out of several emails I sent him. Not accessible outside the classroom!
The class was awful and lectures were disorganized. He made everything very theoretical, didn't do many examples in class, and jumped between concepts which made the class extremely difficult to follow. The lab section was equally unhelpful because our TA wouldn't work through the solutions in class. Emailed him 4-5 times but never got a response.
Goes very much into theory, which wouldn't be an issue if he spent equal amount of time teaching how to actually do what he tests you on. Also declared that the information in class was really only usable for math majors, making those who weren't feel they didn't actually need this information.
Interesting class
Great professor. The class has a lot of homework which is assigned often and needs to be turned in during class time, which is his way of taking attendance. Each week there is a quiz, which act as mini-test but they are not too hard. He uploads his lectures on Youtube which is helpful just in case if you don't get the lesson at first. Great class!
Chill class, definitely not a heavy workload if you do your assignments in a timely manner and don't wait for finals week like me ;). Class was at 8:30 am, and, bless his soul, he posted lectures and notes online. Great professor!
Prof. McCary is really good at teaching math. He explains everything very clearly and leaves no room for any confusion. He's accessible during office hours but takes a while to respond to emails. He made it very easy to understand the concepts. Highly recommend!
Professor McCary is an alright teacher. Uses quizzes and homework to take attendance, and the class is super easy. He over explains at many points, and has a lot of time in his lectures taken over by, "What Not To Do When Solving This Equation". Uses metaphors to explains his concepts that get old quickly, sweet guy, teaches like we're children.
If your trying to coast through college don't enroll in his class. If you want to permanently change your life, and actually learn something that will help you for the rest of your life, then this is the place. To be honest, the only complaint I had was sitting alongside lazy entitled students.
Take McCary if you want a lecturer that explains the how and why behind the math and if you're willing to trade easiness for consistency in terms of grades. His grading scheme is overly complex, but will probably work in your favor. Expect hard but (mostly) fair grading and relatively challenging exams. Try to ace on the quizzes the first time.
McCary explains a lot in his lectures but tends to over explain which can be confusing. Homework is paper and online. Paper homework is fill in the blank. The graders are pretty tough and even if you show your work, will give you a zero if it doesn't match up perfectly. Stressful class for sure.
I took Brady fall 2018 and his lectures are recorded and posted on youtube. (search brady McCary on youtube) he says jokes from time to time to try and explain concepts and is very good at drawing what he means. Great lecture notes too. Expect a 1 on 1 between both of you and if u sit at front you learn even more.
This class was the most stressful class I've ever taken. Lectures only cover the history of where certain math principles came from. Goes on and on about unrelated items, then assigns 3 assignments very vaguely related to lecture. Never explains how to use the language. Help is often iffy. This class/prof makes me want to pull my hair out
The first part of the semester is fine but the second part he never assigns homework so you do not have a chance to practice what you learn. Then at the last minute he drops like 15 homework assignments. Since only the TAs teach, its hard knowing what hell want on the test because he doesnt communicate well.
The professor doesn't even teach and then expects us to solve problems exactly how he wants us to. He is extremely irresponsible and unorganized. He is awful at communication and posts the homework whenever he feels like it which means the majority of the time it is last minute. It wont let me rate him as a zero but that is what I'd rate him
Most of the lectures do not seem to link very well to the actual programming assignments. For someone who has not had any prior programming experience, this class was very hard. The work really began to pile up around November and I needed a lot of one-on-one tutoring in our peer tutoring lab in order to stay on track.
Overall was the professor that irked me the most. Posted homework way later than he promised on the first day. Quizzes every class homework is due which basically makes the class mandatory. I would not take a class with this professor again.
Professor is not helpful in office hrs. Tons of programs to write each week and he goes off on a tangent often. The programs are not close to what you learn in class and take a lot of time. This class took more time than MATH 3310/3311 COMBINED yet its only a sophomore level class. Avoid if possible... RANDOM PARTICIPATION ASSIGNMENTS. go to class
Barely any kind of programming Is taught during lecture. He just goes over math concepts and principles that have little to do with the actual assignments. He is very nitpicky about the programming assignments and you will have to try over and over again to fit his needs. He assigns a ton of work and has pop quizzes/assignments.
Brady is extremely irritating in the way that he coordinates the class. He is the most inconsiderate professor I've ever encountered and seems to lack emotion for any of his students as people. Also his grading and timing capabilities are very unusual-- doesnt assign homework for months, and decides to drop 15 pages on finals week. Do not take.
Honestly, this man is brilliant. Absolutely intelligent in his field but has a distinct teaching style that will never be fit for an incoming class or lower level mathematics. Either fire him or move him into more intricate mathematical classes for upperclassmen classes. 2 tests, tons of homework during the week. Take your basics at community.
Terrible at Coordinating with the other algebra teachers, so in the end everyones learning different material which puts students at a disadvantage. The TA's who grade the homework are equally as terrible as they leave sarcastic comments on the homework. My expectations were low for this class, yet it went down even further.
Incredibly picky when grading! I got a 0 on a quiz because my work was "unorganized", despite my answers being correct and labeling everything properly. He is also very bad at organizing the whole class, on finals week he dropped 15 hw assignments because he didn't give them to us when he was supposed to. Honestly, take a different math Course...
Terrible organization skills. If you get a grade you disagree with, your professor won't change it. Even if they understand where you are coming from. This class has been a nightmare
honestly a bad professor for this course (2370), into to programming should be just that.. INTRO TO PROGRAMMING. He makes you write codes for things you've never seen before, doesn't explain how to write it just expects you to figure it out, sent him like twenty emails throughout the semester he responded to TWO. DONT TAKE HIM
The professor spends all of the class going over the math topic that we are going to program for. Luckily, I have had prior experience with programming so I know quite a bit already. Helping others within the class, I have concluded that he does not spend enough time explaining how to actually code to the students who are new to this.
While the name suggests that this is an "Intro to Programming" class, don't be fooled. I was able to get by semi-decently with some prior programming knowledge, but it may be difficult if you have no experience. Lectures cover math topics, but not much of the actual programming language. Sometimes, he hands out surprise worksheets during lec/lab.
This class has been one of the most stressful and frustrating classes that I have ever taken in my college career! I barely learned anything in that class, he expects to know what you're doing when you're programming. Whenever the semester comes to an end he WILL TAKE ABOUT 2 WEEKS to grade everything which is very ridiculous. DONT TAKE HIM AT ALL!
terrible professor. grades were due nearly 2 weeks ago and still no grade in galaxy or coursebook. he was not readily available AT HIS GIVEN OFFICE HRS. talks down on students for not knowing basic coding for an INTRO coding class. he also changes grading criteria as semester progresses so you may have to redo some programs. avoid if possible.
Terrible organization and grading. Acts as if this class is a handwriting class and will give you 0s if he thinks it's bad (even though that's subjective!). Comes off very condescending when talking with him and decided to drop 15 HW assignments the week before finals. He is the coordinator for 1314, so you can't actually avoid him in this class.
His monotone voice makes the lecture very hard to pay attention to. Coding assignments are very hard for an intro class, even if you attend every class. He is a micro-manager, he counts the number of times a function is called, and points are deducted even if it is called less times; meaning he wants you to write it exactly as he has written it.
ever took a class that by the time the final came around you needed to get the dept. head involved? this is one of them. he claimed that assignments done after 2 weeks will be given no credit. it was never stated and no where in syllabus. he DID say finish work by end of semester. why do work if given no credit? dept. head regraded the course.
Worst professor I have ever had. He did not round up my 89.7 to a 90. He was so rude when I asked questions. He did not grade properly. He waited until the last minute to do everything. Try to avoid him at all costs.
In the beginning of the semester he would give homework online and paper, quizzes every other Friday and would answer emails. Then all of the sudden he stopped giving any type of homework and also stopped answering emails. Its been more than two months that he hasnt answered any of my emails. He also stopped posting the notes from class.
Literally broke off from his syllabus and winged it, terrible, never responds to emails and is rude when asked a question in person. We have yet to have our grades put in and its 3 days after the final deadline. Yet we still have not had anyone tell us anything.
Worst professor I had at UTD. I unfortunately had him twice (MATH2370/2451) and both classes were terrible. He hand writes notes using a projector with weird notations that he doesn't explain and is bad at explaining concepts. Regularly forgot to give his weekly quizzes. He also turned in our final grades months late. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASSES
If you go into this class with zero programming experience, good luck. An intro to programming class should teach you the basic of whatever language is being used. He does not do that. Most people who do ok in this class either have prior experience or get help from those who have prior experience, but you don't really learn much from the professor
My advice: do your programs on the day it was given it to you. I have heard so many things about people struggled in this class because they had no experience in programming. This class will not help if you have no experience. This class was stressful especially at the end. There were times that he wasnt accesible.
I had McCary for Math 2413 & Math 2414, he was great. Made lots of jokes and gave the material at a very relaxed pace. Would definitely take him a third time.
Although Dr. McCary is very intelligent and seems like a great guy, his lectures are egregiously verbose and complicated. As a result, he fell behind several times throughout the semester which meant I had to teach myself much of the course material in order to keep up with homework due dates. Definitely would not recommend for MATH2413.
I think he is very smart but explains the material as if he were talking to colleagues rather than pupils, if that makes sense. Also a couple of particular students would talk during lecture every day and annoy the heck out of me and he never said anything to them, but one day he awkwardly snapped at someone who I never saw disrupting class prior.
He's a really good professor to take. He lectures all of class; sometimes, it can get boring (especially if you've learned the material already in HS) but he organizes his notes with different colors and side notes so that it's easy to follow along if you need to pay attention. Sometimes, he posts the notes online, and he doesn't take attendance :)
I took Dr. McCary for Math 2413 and 2414 and I got to say I like him. His style of teaching is very visual which is useful for comprehension. He uses different colored pens and paper for his lectures which makes them clear to understand and emphasize points. Tied with some inside jokes sprinkled through it his class makes Calculus actually fun.
A lot of homework so pay attention to deadlines. Lecture seems boring, some students doze off but he is def. a good teacher and can effectively teach a topic
Probably my favorite professor. I truly understood integral calculus because of him and his notes are very structured and well thought through. Very funny guy
Dr. McCary is a really good professor. I'm not even good at math and he has a great way of explaining course content that makes it easy for me to understand. Office hours are super useful and he doesn't make you feel judged at all for asking "dumb" questions. Would recommend!
His notes are SUPER helpful for GHW and DHW assignments that you will do weekly in class. Notes are also concise and viewable after class. Barely participated in class activities but followed through his lectures just fine, primarily because I took Calc BC last year. Explains the background of theorems and proofs in an comprehensible manner.
At first, he would upload lecture videos and notes online, but that eventually dwindled and he stopped altogether. His lectures became so confusing that it felt like he was teaching grad students. Don't bother sending an email. You'll only get an indirect, backhanded response in class. Don't recommend as a prof if you haven't taken AP Calc before.
His lectures were very helpful for the homework and tests. I liked his note style because they thoroughly explained the steps to solving different problems. The GHW and DHW can be tedious at times but ultimately not horrible. Prof McCary is funny and knows his subject well. His class helped me understand and perhaps even enjoy calculus lol
Professor McCary is a great math professor. He taught the material very well and his lecture notes are amazing. I've been to his office hours and he clarifies things very well there. I definitely recommend him. Math 2414 is mostly a hard class so it's important to pay attention and start the homework at least a day or 2 early.
