Made classical music learning an adventure. Keep up on hmwrk.
Fun Class! Put on your listening ears! Sit in front and stay involved to get A
He's good a teacher and he explained very well. When the Midterm and Finnal are comming, you don't to worry cause he will give a study guide and he will answer question from study guide.
Make sure to do study guides as they are an important part of grade. Final and midterm are easy as long as you study. Easy class.
Just do your study guide, go to class and youll get an A
He is sooo nice. He doesn't care attendance.
Branden was a very cool teacher. Makes me want to take up the violin. Follow the study guide, practice a bit every day, easy A.
4 Scantron exams, 2 concert reports (must go to 2 outside concerts of your choosing - 1 classical). Final/exa not cumulative. Teacher 30 y.o. Fun/interesting class. Gives study guides before exams. Read the book, learn study guides and you'll do well!
Very interesting, gives a study guide that's very similiar to the test, and it's mandatory to see two concerts and write a report on them - so easy points in case you suck at test-taking. I definitly recommend this class!
Good teacher. Exams are tough, but he gives us what we have to remember.
EXAMS ARE TOUGH. READ YOUR BOOK!!!!! AND STUDY YOUR STUDY GUIDES. BUT DON'T FORGET TO READ YOUR BOOK!!!!! VERY IMPOTANT FOR THE TESTS. OTHER THAN THAT IT'S EASY
( does he or does he not look like the conquestadore off of the pirates of the carribean ride? ) easy class, but mainly because he is an awesome instructor. tests easy, just pay attention and you'll be fine.
I think u will have to study quite a lot from a big thick book for this class also u will have to take his lecture note cos the test is from the lecture and book. He gives an extra credit on concert report. Very fair at grading.
Way into his violen and goes off subject a lot. Ask him a question and he will ramble the entire class. Tests are o.k. and doesnt give much work.
This professor is absolutley wonderful! I would recommend him to anyone. He is understanding and always makes time to answer questions and help in any way possible. The tests are fair and derived from the lecture material...no tricks.
Wonderful teacher. Great class. You must be open-minded to the history of music and do your part. He encourages questions and comments. Do the concert reports early.
Cool guy, good teacher. Makes music history interesting. Gives fun lectures & has good sense of humor. Tests are thorough, but not hard if you study. Definitely take him if you're going to take 110.
I wish i could take his class again. He was very interesting and informative. He demanded a bit for homework which was just notes taken out of the book, though. His tests were easy and his lectures were lots of fun. A great guy and a wonderful class!
Music 110 is more of a history than a music appreciation class. Good teacher though and will give lots of hints for tests, so show up for review session day. He does call on people at random, so it helps to have your own opion about things. Some classes were very boring, but okay class overal.
Very educated man and very talented as well. Will spend time whenever you want in order to help his students. He could turn a Physics major into a Violin player. Gives out a major opportunity for extra credit! I really like this guy's personality.
He is awesome! I came away from that class liking classical music and being a lot more cultured. Just make sure to read the book and pay attention and you will do great.
Students have to memorize a lot of terms for the tests. He goes over the test the class before so don't miss class that day. His reports are not hard, but there is a lot of work in the class.
He knows everything about the lecture and gave you all the details that you need to know. He gave review the day prior the exam..very helpful and attentitive to students needs :) im glad i took music class with him..
alot of reading, two concert reports, you have to read everything assigned. this class should of been a 5 unit class. i dont suggest this class if youre just trying to full fill requirment.
Easy class, sometimes a pain to make it to concerts but he tells you what's on the test and is very clear about what he wants. Also very interesting. cool guy in general.
hmm..this class is super easy! the only prob is there is a lot of reading..He tells you everything that is going to be on the exam. If you don't study or pay attention in class you are screwed! Didn't like classical music at first but do now..!!
made this class very easy.took it over the summer for 4 weeks.he says what is goin to come for the tests beforehand.tests are also very easy.have to visit one concert(if u r taking a 4 week class) and write a report on it.i liked the class, even if i'm not a music major.
This class is awesome. He knows his stuff, has very well prepared study guides with everything you need to know for the test, and will even look over your papers before you hand them in to let you know if you're on the right track or if you haven't got a clue. Take this class if you get a chance!
he is one of the best music instructor in Grossmont. he is more than happy to help you. he went over my concert report 3 times and i got 100%. i lovce this instructor.
Branden is a wonderful instructor. His love of the subject is infectious. His knowledge limitless. Gotta take his class
very helpful instructor. tests are understandable if you study. the only drag is having to see the concerts. however, it is an easy assignment to do.
Very interesting lectures
Excellent teacher. Makes himself available if you have any questions, and he emphasizes every point he tests in his lectures. Easy but very interesting class-his enthusiasm made my 3 hour summer class breeze by. Highly recommended!
branden is awesome!!!! this was one of my best classes ever at grossmont. He's so enthusiastic & really cares about helping the students get the grades they deserve. The class is set up so that if you study and pay attention you'll pay easily. & if test taking isn't your think, you can still pull through on the concert reports. awesome teacher.
hes pretty cool. sometimes funny..every class is basically a longgg lecture..but hes really into it so makes it fun. the tests are straight out of the book and he prints you study guides. you have to do 2 concert reports..pretty cool class.
awesome teacher! i'd never had music history explained so clearly to me. it's evident he loves what he does. i found myself looking forward to going to his class.
BRilliant professor! Pr.Muresan is extremely passionate in his teaching. You'd learn a lot from this class and impressed by his everyday eloquent speeches!Still, recommended CR/NCR for non-music major cz his tests are pretty challenging!
Awesome teacher. Extremely insightful and can make the class fun. Tests are easy if you study your notes and use the book. Highly recommend the class.
His enthusiasm for music is infectious and your level of understanding classical music is elevated 10 fold. Cool and funny, makes lectures interesting. very insightful and thorough. Does not dummy things down.
Lectures are long and can get boring, but he's very enthusiastic and funny. concert reports are a pain, but mandatory. Tests are fairly easy if you study for a couple minutes. Genuinely cares about his students and is very openminded.
excellent teacher! really conveys music in a historical context. he is passionate and knowledgeable. i was excited to come to his class (even though it was at 8am!)
If you go to lecture, take good notes, and study everything from his study guide, you will get an A. Pay good attention to his lectures because all of it will be on his tests. He really loves what he does and it shows. Good Professor
Branden is a phenomenal teacher! He makes you interested in learning about the history of music because he is so passionate about the subject. He offers 1 extra credit report (30pts) and one extra credit "show & tell" opportunity (5pts). He encourages you to turn in assignments early for a pre-grade so that you know what you need to do to get an A.
He's a greate teacher, he makes the class so interesting,he's well prepared in the subject and is flexible, always open to help with any question! One of the best teachers of Grossmont just as well as fred Benedeti and Derek Canon
AMAZING teacher. He is clear and he makes the class fun. His lectures are clear and he knows what he is doing. He is passionate about music. Grades off of two concert reports and 4 tests (all really easy). He makes sure that you understand the difficult concepts of music theory.
Most likely the highest educated professor at Grossmont. Music is his passion, and knows it well. Straight forward assignments and clear instructions. I'm not a fan of classical music so this wasnt my favorite class but he himself is an excellent teacher. Just difficult to take notes because no powerpoints, just have to catch what he says on paper.
Professor Muresan is a really great guy, and he is SO passionate about what he teaches. The thing with this class though is there are no powerpoints, he wrote his lectures on the board, and you have to do a lot of reading and cram a lot of information to do well on the tests. If you are a great test taker then this is the class for you, if not....
Very helpful professor! He does a great job at explaining the material. Just do good on tests and do the concert reports and you'll be fine.
HE IS THE BEST MUSIC TEACHER IN SAN DIEGO. HE HAS KNOWLEDGE ABOUT EVERY THING. HE LOVES INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS. EXTRA CREDITS EVERY TIME. . YOU CAN ASK HIM ANY QUESTIONS HE WILL ANSWER YOU QUESTION VERY HELPFULLY. HE IS VERY POLITE PERSON.
AWESOME PROFESSOR! He is helpful in his class and helps with anything else you need as far as school and home. Take notes and review the vocab words and you will do just fine! He offers extra credit and his final is NOT cumulative and a VERY EASY A if you go to class and pay attention! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
AWESOME TEACHER! He is the most helpful teacher I have ever met, really cares about his students. I had no interest in taking the class but it was interesting EASY A if you attend and pay attention. He offers extra credit and his final is NOT cumulative. HIGHY RECOMMEND THIS CLASS AND TEACHER.
This instructore was the best I've ever seen, very helpful, and very nice. I highly recommend him.
Awesome professor, extremely interesting, even if you don't care about music. He can get a little preachy at times but its because he's passionate about life and wants to spread it. The tests are hard, but if you do the extra credit it's an easy A/B.
Amazing teacher. So incredibly friendly, sweet, and funny. He is insanely passionate about everything he teaches. Easy tests if you make flashcards for terms and organize your notes. He also offers a very generous amount of extra credit! Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed this class. Professor Mureson is a great teacher. He's had many experiences with music and has many great stories to share. I like the way he teaches and I enjoy his lectures. He gives two opportunities for extra credit: a concert report and a mini presentation. The only way you will fail his class is if you don't study for tests.
One of the best teachers at Grossmont! went in thinking I would hate the class and ended up loving it. Amazing lectures and great extra credit opportunity's. Very understanding. Need the book to pass. He makes the class extremely easy for anyone. Just show up to class and everything in lecture is on the test. Easy A.
Prof. Muresan is an amazing instructor and intellectual. I particularly love his emphasis on the philosophy behind the periods of music we explored. He really challenges the students to open their minds and better themselves as a whole, all while teaching a music history course. Awesome dude. Awesome class. Great semester. (Get the book!)
I learned so much in this class. Gave great lectures. Tests are really straight forward and easy if you study. He really tries to help you suceed. He had an "I work for you mentality." Wish he taught more classes.
Very passionate teacher and loves to teach what he teaches. However, he's somewhat tough on grading (at least for a non-music major). Don't expect this to be an easy A but not super hard either. Besides regular exams, there will be concert reports (kinda hard). I found that his lectures often don't really contain info on whats actually on the exam!
Music is his life, his passion for music is clearly seen. The lectures are exceedingly difficult to withstand but sparks the occasional interest, making a person think about how the world is. Tests are long, and multiple choice sections are illusive. Two concert reports, one highly recommended extra credit report. all in all he is a sweet heart.
He is such a really nice guy, really into on what he is teaching. His lecture are long but interesting. Do all the extra credit and study for the test and you'll pass his class with an A.
One of the best professors I've had at Grossmont. He's amazing. Take him! He's passionate and enthusiastic about his job and music. His lectures are far from dull and he has some great and insightful stories to share too. As a music lover I looked forward to his class every Tuesday/Thursday and was sad when it was over.
Branden Muresan was probably the best teacher I have ever had. He enforces outside participation by making assignments based on symphonies and operas you must attend which has led to an incredible experience I am so glad I had. He is very inspirational and I hope many more people take his class. He is a great instructor and I highly recommend him.
AMAZING BEST MUSIC TEACHER EVER!! SUPER INSPIRING. Easy class, would recommend to anyone
Easy class. No homework, however there are two concert reports plus one extra credit concert report highly suggest you do this no matter what your grade is. There are four test including the final all fairly easy provides a study guide for each, multiple choice section is the only tough part. Also the final is not cumulative!!
If you want a professor who respects you, and truly enjoys their job, TAKE HIM. Honestly one of the best professors I have ever had hands down. He pushes participation, but when you participate and speak up he makes it fun! Would definitely take him again. Bran the Man.
the tests are hard if you do not study. he does not have office hours but he will reply to emails. i like how he talks to the class, very clear and to the point. every story has a deep meaning. I'll be taking it again in the fall.
It does not matter if you like classical music or have ever listened to it before. You will love this class. Branden is an amazing professor, he is makes boring material personable and exciting. 10/10
Lectures- amazing, must read for tests, listening to LAB audio VERY important. 1st 10 questions are audio ID & recognition of performances. Participate in class, helps clear subject matter misunderstandings. He is clear&concise, humorous but applicable. HIs unique training & edu'n makes him a wonderful&confident Instr. U become a better listener
Do not take this class if your fulfilling a requirement. You must read to do well on the tests. The lectures almost have nothing to do with the tests.
Definitely one of the best professors Ive had!He is very passionate about teaching and music which makes class enjoyable. His lectures are always interesting, he is great at explaining information. I always looked forward to his class. Only 4 tests including the final (all not cumulative), 2 concert reports, and one extra credit concert report.
He is a great professor! His grading criteria is clearly specified in the syllabus. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT. It will give you an automatic A, even if you fail a midterm. I have no background in music, yet I loved taking this class. I learned so much and am so glad I took it!
He makes listening to classical music fun for beginners and he is just funny overall. His grading criteria is very clear and exams are easy. He gives a study guide with every exam and a really good extra credit opportunity. There are 2 concert reports and 4 exams. The final is not cumulative. Very fun professor!
I genuinely enjoy his lectures, he keeps you engaged and actually wanting to learn more about music. VERY knowledgeable and skilled in music. 10/10 would recommend his class to anyone, even if you dont think youre into music its a very educational class and broadens your horizons.
Amazing professor! I really enjoyed the class. All of his lectures are organized and planned well. He only had 2 small papers and 4 non-cumulative tests; so you have to try really hard to fail the class.
Honestly thought this was going to be a light class based on the reviews. He was one of the worst professors I have ever had throughout my college career. He gives study guides which are useless because majority of the stuff isn't on the test. He lectures about stuff irrelevant to the course. I do not recommend him.
Professor Muresan, is one of my favorite professors Ive ever had and makes me want to take even more music classes! He is extremely straightforward with the tests, and there are only 4 tests and two short essays. And he grades pretty easily on the essays, and there are no surprises on the test. He is so passionate for what he teachers and it shows
Great professor. So passionate about his field and is willing to help and talk to anyone who asks. Even with no prior experience in music he made me so interested in this subject. Extremely educated in several areas other than music and incorporates history and personal stories in all his teachings. Gives life lessons and extra credit opportunities
One of the best teachers I have ever had. He makes learning really fun. All of his lectures are amazing, so I didn't miss a single one. He really wants his students to succeed and always offers help. Non-musicians and music majors will both love this class.
The material itself is interesting but pretty difficult but the format of the class makes it VERY easy to pass. Professor Muresan gives tons of extra credit. My grade is an A+ and I don't even have to take the last exam. There is a lot of reading but If you do the work you will definitely get an A (and hopefully learn something about music)!
Professor Muresan is a gem. I took him twice since the first time I slacked off but he is one of the most caring professor I know. Super accessible and accommodates to any of your needs regarding assignments. You do need a book, but I never bought it and passed. Overall a great professor!
Took his class online. Really fun and easy class. Professor Muresan enjoys what he teaches and has a passion for music.
Great professor, cares about his students. Treats us like we're all equal and is willing to help us with anything possible. Very clear, knows what he is talking about, and we all have great discussions on everything music and non-music alike. Highly recommended for music majors!
Lectures were inspirational and full of energy amazing for an 8am! Great 5.0 for his patience and understanding towards his students. Lectures were a lot sometimes but he always made it fun, definitely an amazing music appreciation class!
Professor Muresan's lectures are the best! If you attend every class, you will do great on the tests. The class is really straightforward.
Professor Muresan is a great professor. I took his class when I was in the Grossmont College, and I still remember some stuff from his lectures even years later. I am glad that he made me like the classical music. I am still able to track the rhythms, and name well-known classical music compositions
I took the online class and dropped by week 3. Material was simple, but the workload was too much as a full-time student w/ full-time job. A week before the semester started, a discussion board post was due. After that, we were assigned about 12 chapters with several discussion posts and a few quizzes due by end of week 2.
