Brandon ran the most straight-forward class Ive ever taken. Expectations for the class were clear from day one and I was never confused about what I had to do. Nothing is technically due until the end of the semester, which means you can take everything at your own pace. Brandon is very personable and a detailed, funny lecturer. I had no qualms.
This class was one of the best classes I have taken. The expectations are made clear at the beginning of the semester. He really listens to his students. He is also super cool in general.
One of the greatest professors I've ever had so far! Class lectures are always entertaining and we get a lot of the material covered for each chapter. Explanations are very clear making it easy for students to follow along with the class. Just make sure you keep up with your work because you can get left behind if you slack off. Best at the U!!!!
Professor Clark is really amazing, he is super funny and you never know what to expect when he walks into class, there is very little homework which is really nice and its a super easy class!
Professor Clark is very knowledgeable and funny. Respect goes both ways. His class is easy to pass and is designed for non History majors. The midterm and final are about 3-4 pages each, and the only other assignments are online textbook assignments, easy but time consuming, to do at your own pace. Overall, I got a lot out of his class.
made me actually want to come to class
I was not looking forward to taking history however he made this class very easy! Everything is due at the end of the semester so you can do all the online homework assignments at your own pace. The midterm paper was graded very fairly and he is not a harsh grader at all. Lecturers are informative and he is very chill and laid back.
Long lectures, but the work is pretty relaxed! Just stay on top of your assignments so you dont fall behind!
Really patient with students
He is laid back and fun. He pops lots of humorous comments throughout his lectures which helps break up the monotony of a history lecture. His lectures are very informative and he adds historical context that isn't necessarily given in the textbook, which I think really adds to the class. Don't get behind on your self-paced reading assignments!
He has been starting class by playing introduction music as he walks to the front of the classroom. It makes everyone laugh. He is super fun and entertaining. He makes the lectures enjoyable and interesting. I would 100% recommend him to other students.
I had trouble following along in lectures as they would get long and boring in my eyes. I also felt that the homework assignments felt as though they were busy work but did add a cushion to the final grade. Overall, he was a good teacher but at times was difficult to pay attention to when lectures got long.
I wouldnt recommend him if youre bad with your time management, he lets you do things at your own pace which isnt a bad thing Im just bad with not having set due dates. I found it a little hard to focus in his class but hes a very laid back teacher and throws in fun stories here and there.
Graded assignments are mostly busywork from the textbook, and then the midterm and final. Super chill dude, and is very flexible with homework (everything is due at the end of the semester, so you work at your own pace). Easy grader, attendance isn't vital. Lectures are standard, but he likes to pop in a lot of good jokes and movie recommendations.
Mr. Clark is a a good guy. This semester was his first teaching a full-on class, and he nailed it. Slides were often the minimum and gave really no information. Grading is very clear and there are no due dates (except the final day all assignemts are due). He wants you to pass, so make sure you at least put in some effort and he will reward you.
Great teacher! Super funny and taught the material in a concise manner. Had to take this class for gen ed but would for sure recommend it.
Told me he didnt like my final essay because it wasnt his style. I have passed all my writing classes with As and he gave me Cs on both of my papers with little to no feedback so I was unable to improve. He also lectured EVERY class and it was very difficult to listen to. Exactly how you imagine high school history class.
He is an awesome professor and gets the lesson across really good. And he makes it easier to understand
Great professor! Very approachable and teaches class in an enjoyable and informative way.
I thought professor Clark is amazing his teaching is so interesting and the way he presents his lectures through humour but also with the most important facts and ways of seeing history is just amazing. The hw is pretty easy as well and the writing for this class is pretty lenient. Overall a very fun class and a perfect gen Ed.
Great professor, learned a lot. He creates a friendly classroom environment and respects everyone in his class. Highly recommend.
if you do the work and go to class you should do fine.
Awesome professor!! Loved him!! He made me like History again.
I like the mood of the classroom it is pretty good. The assignment and the grading are straightforward and clear. Professor makes the lecture easy to understand.
I have loved being in Professor Clarks class. He's one of the best teachers I've had this school year. He is very understanding and I enjoy his lectures. The assignments are engaging and he truly does care about his students. The essay prompts are interesting and his grading is very clear and concise. Take his class!!!
He is focused more on helping students learn than making the course difficult. He applies the lectures to current events and gives the course a modern purpose. He gets on tangents frequently so if you want all the material covered you will need to read the book.
Clark was a good professor, he mainly lectured and there wasn't a ton of homework assignments.
A very reasonable and relatable professor. His lectures are well put together and well thought out.
He cares about us and wants to make sure that we have a good time but also learn at the same time. He is very clear during his lectures, and he gives clear instructions on what to do for the midterms and final.
He's very willing to work with you when you're having struggles concerning mental health. He will help you define a plan for success in his courses, and is very easy to talk to. Incredibly respectful of mental wellness.
Mrs.Clark is a great professor! The grading is straight forward and there weren't a ton of homework assignments.
Very good professor. The teaching is easy to understand
Very funny and good at keeping his class engaged
He did a good job of involving the class in lectures so that they would not become too boring. He was also willing to change due dates to best suite his students
he always lectures, but attendance is not mandatory. there is not a lot of homework, and everything is due at the end of the semester. We had to write a couple of essays, but they were not too long.
Great!! Would 100% recommend this class. Unbiased, and historically accurate teaching method.
The best professor I've had so far one year into college. Every two minutes he'll say something completely out of pocket and hilarious, makes listening to lectures the best.
Professor Clark was an enjoyable professor; he managed to keep the long lectures engaging and had a fun dry sense of humor. There were only four things graded in the course: two essays, an online learning program, and a final exam. The class was not difficult as long as I attended the lectures.
Went to the class once this semester but would highly recommend his class. Very easy and straight forward, he's very understanding and the material is easy.
This class was very easy because the professor didn't see the point in making a GenEd class difficult. If I had to describe his class, I would say it's like having a stand-up comedian teach you history. The only assignments were a 3-4 page midterm essay and a multiple-choice final. There were also extra credit assignments if you needed them. 10/10
Brandon is one of the coolest professors I've taken. The class is graded by two essays, but he decided to make the final a multiple choice test. Both the midterm and final were very easy. He's very lenient on essay grading and due dates for midterm. He also makes his lectures interesting and entertaining through his humor. 100% recommend him.
100% recommend!
He is an amazing professor, I would recommend y'all to take his class. No pressure at all, for real.
this class was awesome and by far my favorite teacher ever!!!
Professor Brandon teach history with passionate and enthusiastic, his lectures are good and he usually tell jokes in class which makes the lessons more interesting. He give out detail revision for mid-terms and final and the tests are also easy as well. He also give extra credit for the online quizzes. Recommended for everyone.
Boring class find teacher
Brandon Clark is the best professor I have ever taken, his lectures are extremely interesting and captivating, even if you are someone like me who only cares about getting a good grade by doing the bare minimum, you will learn a lot if you come to class, he is hilarious and knows how to engage with his students. It's also extremely easy to score.
Awesome Professor, cracks jokes, took his night class and he made it a breeze.
Big fan! My favorite professor so far! Made class fun to come too. Great sense of humor.
Made going to class a great time, and I felt like I was still actually learning. Absolutely recommend taking his class.
Easy class, attendance not mandatory but you learn a lot if you go. He's really funny so it's worth going just for that, and it's usually a pretty chill time. Only major assignments are an essay and midterm exam but you know what to study for so it's not too hard. Other than that, open note final and very easy assignments throughout the semester
He is very kind if you have any questions to ask him.
goog professor, a very funny guy, and incredibly smart. Always fun to go to his classes.
His teaching style is both engaging and effective, making complex concepts accessible to students of diverse backgrounds.
He is so awesome! His lectures were interesting and didn't feel dragged out. He is such a funny guy. Both tests were online! Not much reading and I finished the assignments in the first two weeks! He takes attendance 10 times during the semester so you need to be there. As long as you do the online assignments and show up you will get an A.
I'm not a big history fan but this was actually a really interesting and fun class! Clark made it easy to engage and stay on top of things. And all you have to do is show up and do the work to get an A.
Professor Clark is awesome! He's super funny and his lectures are always entertaining. Class isn't too hard. One essay, one midterm, and a final. Make sure to keep up with the online homework. Overall, good class!
Best history Professor!! He's hilarious and the class is actually fun to attend. You learn SO much without it feeling overwhelmed with information. I originally was going to take the class online by another professor. Trust me when I say, if you don't take Professor Clark's class you'll be hating life for 14 weeks.
He is Awsomesauce!
A nice guy
Although having a night class can be inconvenient, Mr Clark made this my favorite class. His lectures are very clear and informative. Mr Clark is insanely knowledgeable and will entertain any and all questions making class fun and interactive. I wish he taught higher level courses.
A nice teacher
I enjoyed having this professor for HIST 1700. He promoted a self-directed learning environment, which helped me engage more with the course material. I also enjoyed his witty remarks in lectures, which helped to lighten the mood!
He made the class as enjoyable as possible for a history class and was funny and engaging. The homework was relatively easy and was self paced, so if you get in done early you are good for the semester... However when it came to the essay and midterm the prompt was very vague and he grades very harshly so really give it your best effort.
He was a great professor, he did have attendance but it was 7 checks to make sure people were still attending his class though he was not strict in attending his class. He understands that students might have other things to do. Mr.Clark was also, overall, a great professor who was quite fun and made the class enjoyable.
Clark was awesome! I really enjoyed his class and he is a very interesting person to listen to.
Best class for History 1700! Brandon is super chill—no tests, just a take-home midterm and final, plus two essays (one with the midterm). All work is due by the end of the semester. No homework, just a few easy online quizzes. Even as a night class, it was totally worth it with him. Highly recommend!
was super chill class was an easy grade
Dr Clark is awesome. He's definitely one to make jokes, use some explicit language occasionally, and is an excellent lecturer. He demands attention when lecturing (as he should). I enjoyed his class and would take it again. The assignments are fairly easy, and the projects were also very doable. Attendance was basically the hardest part.
Loved this class. Would definitely recommend Mr. Clark as a teacher, especially if you're looking for a teacher to joke with.
He cares and is funny what more do you need
Great professor, makes the class subjects interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory but would highly recommend going to his classes
5'4 King. Fun class, If you put any effort in and show up to class you will get an A.
yeah, this was not a great class. the lectures were boring and didn't make sense. the class was almost too easy where you forgot about it and the work eventually got heavy. this felt like a high school level class except now you're paying to learn absolutely nothing
He takes attendance 5 random times throughout the semester, so attendance is semi mandatory. Class is genuinely worth coming too he makes things fun and is super funny. Class is not challenging if you put in a ounce of effort you can get an A.
pretty straightforward class, learning about U.S. History. The only drawback was that he took attendance, but that wasn't on him; that was on others who asked him to take attendance.
He takes attendance a few times during the whole semester since it's a 7pm class. So they are semi-mandatory. Although I recommend going to class when you can since his lectures are heavy in detail and in person. He is very nice and funny to keep the class entertaining and more engaging. As for homework, he organizes it really well.
Dropped Stormy Shepherd's section for his. Best decision I've ever made. He understands that most students are just taking it for the gen ed, so it's super easy.
Took HIST 3710 with Professor Clark this summer but only 1700 is listed on here. Really straightforward class with clear criteria and assignments. I actually feel like I learned a lot but wasn't overwhelmed or stressed with the workload. Would recommend.
Best Professor/ Teacher I've ever had. Workload is very light and Deadlines are flexable.
Every lecture we learned something new and he always kept us interested. He was very helpful with any questions I had and was always quick to answer emails.
This class is really fun and a good class to take. I really recommend this class to everyone
I really like this class. This class is fun and really good. I really recommend this class to everyone.
Class is easy going but lectures are long
Prof Clark understands that most kids take this class just for a GenEd, therefore he does not require much from his students at all. It is extremely easy to achieve an A in this class, if you fail it you really have issues. He is very smart in his field, his lectures are great and humorous and if you care about history he is a great teacher.
Such a goof professor! he made lecture interesting and fun. Randomly takes attendance throughout the semester.
Wow! I am so grateful I got his class. He is so nice grades nicely and will listen to any of your problems. The other history teachers are rude and heavy graders…
Prof Clark is absolutely hilarious. He understands that the class is a required gen-ed for most students and makes the work match that. Attendance is taken randomly a couple times a semester(at the end of class usually) so try to go and stay for the whole time.
Super into what he teaches which makes the class more engaging. I wouldn't say attendance is mandatory, but he does randomly take attendance so I would go just to make sure you get those attendance points and can keep up with the class curriculum. He is pretty easy going and isn't as strict as other professors as long as you're respectful.
He got all of his 5 stars for a reason and they are well deserved. He is a great teacher and makes class fun to go to. That being said the class is kind of late at night but I would rather take this class at 10pm with Brandon Clark than at 2pm with a different teacher, so taking it at 7:30 really isn't that bad. Be smart, take Clark.
This teacher was amazing, he truly cared for all of his students. I took this class at 7:30 pm Yes its late but it was my best professor this semester he made every assignment clear and made it easy to do the online assignments all the assignments except for the midterm were online overall this professor was amazing and changed my goals in college.
Even though his class is very late at night, it is probably one of the easiest classes to get an A in. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does do random attendance checks throughout the semester. All of the homework that's assigned isn't due until the very end of the semester, and he won't give anyone below an 80% on essays.
he is good
perfect professor! perfect class!
Professor Clark's class is easy to get through even if you are not a fan of History. Major grades come in the form of a creative writing paper, midterm paper, and final exam. Other grades are easy to do if you just do them.
BC's History 1700 takes principals: eras, wars, and other topics and makes them applicable to every day life. You absolutely should take this class if you want understandable grading, clear/hilarious assignments, and an overall good time in class. This guy is truly the best professor to take history 1700 from. Choose BC's class, He is fantastic.
I have difficulty listening for long periods of time, but this professor is well-spoken and hilarious. His blend of dry humor, delivery, and lecture structure made his classes engaging. He held his students accountable while remaining kind and flexible when needed. If he were teaching another class I needed to take, I would take it!

He's definitely one of the nicest teacher i have had in Utah.
He brings a great energy into the lecture hall.
Really chill class, sometimes its hard to go to the later classes that are after dark so it was really helpful not having attendance be required and you can do everything at your own pace.
