Mr. Foster seems unprofessional. When he lectures, he seems very not sure of what he is talking about. However, he is not difficult.
Class is very lecture oriented, writes everything important on board. Great personality, funny guy, very helpful. Lecture notes = test.
Mr. Foster is a great teacher. He has a great teaching style which really allows students to understand. He also has a great personality.
Mr. Foster tells you everything you need to know very clearly and some cool facts in between. After a serious injury, he was extremely helpful in making sure I stayed up to speed with everything. Makes many references to fish and marijuana.
Lecture based. posts outline, but doesn't follow it very well. After 1st test, encouraged all who did not do well to drop class. Lab does not match schedule.
fun, energetic, easy to understand. and cute.
He is not very understanding of mothers. I found this odd since he talked about his wife and children. Encouraged people to drop class so as to have a higher class average. Lab was easier than lect.
Seems easy, but tests are confusing and doesn't make sense. He changes class schedule to meet his needs. Most of class failing and encourages them to drop. I like biology, but not the way this guy teaches.
Entertaining and helpful when approached.
He makes biology fun, great sense of humor and a very professional guy. Extremely approachable and easy to talk to!
Foster at times can be rude. He also encourages students to drop his class. Hes test are tricky. 50% of his class drops. I got B in his class, but I would never take his class again.
Mr. Foster is very bright, witty, and certainly knows biology inside and out. His tests aren't difficult in and of themselves, it's just that he expects you to know the information like the back of your hand and most people aren't willing to work that hard. He carefully tracks attendance. He is a really good teacher IF your goal is to learn.
this class was a lot of work and the tests were tricky. I thought this class was very time consuming. Mr. Foster was not very helpful. I got a "B" in this class, however I will never pick again a class that Foster is teaching.
Mr. Foster seems unprofessional. He encourages people to drop his class. The questions on the test are designed to trick you. At times, he is impolite to students. I do not recommend him. There are much better teachers out there.
Mr. Foster seems unprofessional. He encourages people to drop his class. The questions on the test are designed to trick you. At times, he is impolite to students. I do not recommend him. There are much better teachers out there.
Terrible teacher. More concerned about his class average than his students. I had to drop the class due to having the flu and missing a test, as many have mentioned previously he did encourage me to drop. He is not willing to work with anyone under any circumstances.
Very bad teacher... not helpful and disorganized.
Tests are confusing....He changes class schedule to meet his needs. Most of class failing and he encourages them to drop.
I was very disappointed with this teacher. He is not very helpful. He encourages students to drop his class. If you can take this class with some other professor.
Foster test are hard, he is not very clear, and not very helpful.
The lab quizzes and tests are tough, and the lecture exams are challenging, but Mr. Foster is knowledgeable, good professor, and a fun guy.
Don't know why he's getting such a bad rap. The class was really easy and Foster was easygoing, funny, and helpful. Lecture exams were all multiple choice and questions taken ONLY from lecture. He writes everything on the board. Go to class take notes and get an easy A. You can even throw out the final if you do well on the exams.
Awesome dude!
sarcatistic and a little dorky, but in a good way
I'm really sad about how bad of a rep Mr. Foster is getting, he's an awesome teacher! His tests are hard but they come from his lecture & he gives you vocab. He's a really great teacher & genuinely cares. Biology terrifies me but I would do it all over again w/him if I had to. He has a great sense of humor & makes class interesting. Good choice! :)
Mr. Foster is an amazing teacher! I hated Biology until i took his class. He made it my favorite class! He made it fun, interesting, & was really funny and down-to-earth & just really cool. you get to drop a test grade, & if you use the study guide & read the textbook you'll do great. Most final q's are from previous tests. I highly reccomend him!
Do not take this tracher. He is real hard and most people end up dropping his class BEFORE the half point. What he teaches in class is not what be on the test! The test are different from what you will learn in class from his teaching!
I barely passed his class and am so glad I never have to take it again. I cryed after he told me my grades sucked. I was interested in being a nutritionist but Mr.F told me my grade was so bad I should not look into that career. Thanks for the encouragement, I feel like I can do anything now...not.
Great teacher!! Yes you have to show up and Yes you have to take notes but that is typical for a science class. I really enjoyed his class and hope to take more from him!
Great teacher! Very good at teaching and fun labs. Don't need textbook if you pay close attention in class. Easy tests and lab quizes. drops lowest test grade.
Mr. Foster was one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. He will help you in anyway he can,if you show that you are trying. He definitely has a passion for biology. I wish I could take another one of his classes! Very funny too...
Soooo hot! One of my favorite teachers at Wake Tech. You get to drop your 2 lowest quiz grader and a test score! Really helped to get an A in the class. You should take him if you can. Funny guy, wish he wasn't married! Foster gives you 2 extra credit point toward your grade! So show up! Loved him and the class.
Seriously all the people who said not to take Foster's class are LAME. Yea he's 'hard' but it's freaking biology, what would you expect?? He helps you out a TON and makes class fun!!(oh ya that rhymed) He is sarcastic, but hilarious! The final comes from allll your tests WHICH he lets you go back and look at. TAKE HIM. drops 2 quizzes and a test!
Responds to emails and is great at explaining complex concepts. If you attend every class and all your labs he adds an extra 2 points to your overall grade at the end of the semester!
This was my second time taking Biology. Mr. Foster explains concepts clearly, follow along with the textbook, responds quickly to emails, does not assign homework, and keeps class entertaining. I highly recommend taking Mr. Foster for Biology.
If you must take a Bio TAKE HIM!He has a fun personality and makes the material seem easy. All of the tests are reasonable and based on the lectures. No surprises! You are allowed to drop your lowest test and two lowest quizzes. There is no excuse to make lower than a B.
If you are looking for an easy A look else where. All his test are from his lectures. If your not good with attendance this is not the class for you. He is very knowledgeable in the subject. If your a good note taker and are good with attendance you will have no problem getting an A. There no study guides on test!
He has a great personality so I can definitely say the class was fun. BUT, as a teacher he could of been better. He read off of the (old) power point and his handwritten notes most of the time. He doesn't provide study guides for his exams which sucks. If your a good listener/note taker you might be fine, if not.. find a new teacher ASAP!
Pretty good teacher, although his class is not an easy A. All his grades are tests and quizzes, and they are pretty hard. You will probably actually have to study for them! However he is a pretty good teacher, and explains the concepts very clearly.
Does not give study guides. If you want to pass, go somewhere else. He will tell you that you'll fail the first day of class if you don't read the book. Most people in my class made low C's or were failing.
Most people in my class are failing or getting low c's . I don't get it. The tests and quizzes are only on his lectures. Which cover about 15% of the actual chapter. So... If you read the chapter, then you will get at least 90's on your tests. I mean... You buy the book for a buck fifty.... So why not read it. Right? Yes. Right.
Awesome Teacher! He can be tough and his test are kinda of tough, but if you study from his lecture notes you should do well on his tests. He only helps if you ask for it though so make sure he knows your name and ask questions! He also lets you review tests before the final which was a big help!
Fosters class is not an easy A and there is not much room for error as there are only a few grades in the class. His test are tough and often contain in-depth questions about topics not discussed in class. Utilize his office hours as he is much more helpful there than in the class room. He is a fun teacher just expect to work hard for an A.
Mr. Foster is the best instructor I've had in Waketech, and this compliment is coming from a 140 credit hour student. He has a great personality. During lecture, his humorous style of teaching can keep you hooked. After class hours, he is the nicest mentor; you can get multi-paragraph answers from him if you care to seek for help.
Awesome teacher. Tests are from lecture not book and he explains things very throughly. As long as you go to class and pay attention you should do well. Also his jokes help the class time fly by. Highly recommend
This man can TEACH! Excellent at explaining things that are hard to understand. You have to read and you have to take notes. If you are not interested in those two things you will do poorly. It's a hard class but the professor is WONDERFUL!! There is a lot of material but there is no question what is on the test, he only tests from his lectures.
I took his zoology class, and wish I'd taken him for Bio111. He was interesting and helpful and I learned so much. Pay attention to lectures and do the reading and you'll be fine. Don't pay attention and you'll fail. More than willing to help outside of class if you ask and tried to make sure everyone was clear on the material. Take him!
loved him as a teacher. he is one of those people where he jokes in class and makes things interesting and if you put in the work and study from him lectures (i never read the book) you can definitely make an a! he is very nice too :)
Mr. Foster was one of my favorite teachers I've had so far! He shares a lot of interesting tid-bits that make the material more relatable. He also has a great sense of humor and is really nice. He also will let you review your tests, which is really helpful!
To much information was given at once
Foster was challenging, and the information in his lectures wasn't clear enough. I would not take his class again, if given an alternative.
Foster was interesting and worked with me a lot. If you're not a science person don't take BIO 111 take BIO 110. If you need help don't be afraid to ask.
BIO 111 is an extremely challenging class but Mr. Foster teaches it in a way that sticks. He drops the lowest exam grade (out of 4) and the 2 lowest lab quiz grades (out of approx. 11). He uses jokes and analogies to make weird bio concepts easier to learn and remember. Wish he was teaching BIO 112 because I would take his class again.
This class was pretty difficult, but Prof. Foster made it easy to succeed. His lectures are interesting, and he provides great comedic relief. Tests come from the material, and some quizzes are open-note. He is available during office hours, and good at answering questions in detail. I definitely recommend him!
He was recommended for this class. he loves what he does, so it's easier to learn
Foster is my favorite teacher I've had so far at Wake Tech. You do need to study for his tests to do well on them, but as long as you take notes on class lectures and complete the posted study guides you'll be good. There is not much homework and no essays, just online weekly quizzes. I'd recommend Foster to anyone!
Not an easy class but I wouldn't take it with anyone else. Fast grader+tries to help his students. Mulitichoice chapter quizzes, 4 lect exams+1 final, and lab (mid+final)exams. Weekly lab quizzes are open note, short answer but don't b fooled. He does drop some tests. Do his study guides+ don't cram! Watch 4 slightly tricky wording on tests.
Mr. Foster is by far my favorite teacher I have had at Wake Tech! He has a great sense of humor and keeps class interesting. This class can be difficult so if you're looking for an easy A this won't be it. However, if you simply put in the effort and study, you should be fine. Other postings say he doesn't give study guides but dont worry, he does!
Mr. Foster is amazing! You can tell he definitely wants his students to pass. His lectures are clear and understanding. Biology has never been my best subject, but if you study his study guides and your notes, then you'll do fine! He made Biology enjoyable. I would definitely take his class again!
It helps if you know the material before class. He appreciates it when you can shout out an answer to a question he asked. The textbook is optional if you take good notes and he has study guides for all the chapters thats based on the lectures in class. He is also funny and nice.
Mr. Foster is hands down the best teacher that I have had at Wake Tech. He gets down to level of his students and that helps us engage with him easier. His explanations of the material are amazing and help a ton for the tests. He has a really dry sense of humor which is hilarious. You want to get an A in bio? Take Foster!!!
I have to say that Mr. Foster is by far the best teacher I have had in Wake Tech. I have to say that I did take this class over the summer and well the thing is you have to study for the tests. He does provide study guides on the blackboard but i never read the book, and be ready to take lots of notes during lecture. I would take him again anytime.
With a lot of studying, its possible to get an A. Attendance is not a requirement. As long as you are passing the class, you can skip. However, I do not think you could skip class and pass.
By far the best professor I've ever had. His lectures are great. The exams are pretty easy. He is super accessible outside of class.
Ms. Foster is a very caring person and a great teacher. His lectures are amazing, and he gives great study guides.
The best teacher I've ever had. He provides study guides, and he is always ready to answer your questions.
He was my favorite professor at wake tech. The tests are hard but his lectures give all the info you need. He is very willing to help and answer questions and makes lectures very interesting!!
Horrible instructor! I took him based on the reviews but I regret it. I think he rated himself on this website ! be careful!!
One of the worst professors I have ever had. He is a not a great teacher and you better not have any questions unless you're ready for sarcastic remarks. He is an incredibly difficult person to work with. To put things into perspective, I still got an A in the class so it's not like I'm just upset that I did poorly. I would NOT recommend.
One of my favorite teachers. Follow his study guides and the class is easy. Professor Foster is clearly passionate about Biology and it makes the class engaging and interesting. I thought he was very funny and entertaining and I was extremely disappointed that I couldn't take his class for 112. Definitely recommend!!
One of the best professors I've had so far. He's easy going and very clear with what he expects from his students. A total of four exams, with the lowest grade dropped and a final. His lectures are great too because he isn't just reading off of slides, he's taking his time to write everything and explain it word for word.
Foster is awesome! His lectures are interesting if you read the material it is really easy to understand when he goes over it in class. He is funny and is willing to answer any question, just make sure you can handle a little teasing. 110 is easy and he drops some grades, I would recommend working with your lab group on the chapter and lab quizzes.
Everybody that I talked to in my class said that he was one of the worst professors at Wake Tech. He is definitely rating himself on this website.
I do not understand why his rate is 5.0. He is the best teacher in Wake Tech. If you pay attention to the lecture in the class, you will easily get A. The exams are easy and all multiple choice. He is always willing to help when you have any questions. He gives study guides that are really clear and help you study for the exams.
He's an amazing professor. Period. I didn't need a book and I was fine. He's so understanding and responds to emails so fast. I wish he taught 112. He recently added these chapter guides and quizzes that help boost your grade and are quite easy.
Mr. Foster was one of my favorite professors. His lectures show just how much he cares about delivering the content in a clear and interesting way. He says whatever comes to mind and is always open to answering any questions you have. He grades fair and leaves lots of feedback. The course is fairly easy and fun; just pay attention and do the work!
Professor Foster wasn't a hard teacher. He taught the material the best way possible and I wouldn't mind taking him again. The quizzes and tests are bearable and are based off of the PowerPoints, which are really easy to follow. He also provides study guides that we had to fill out which was useful for tests. Honestly, he was a decent teacher.
He's great when it comes to being a nice person. But if you take his class, the lectures are pretty boring and there will be a lot of material that you will have to learn on your own. Above that, it's kinda a gotcha thing when it comes to testing, you have to pay attention to every single detail in class to get an A. Avoid his class if you can.
The worst teacher ever. He doesn't teach and expects that you know everything from the textbook. His lectures are boring and he doesn't offer any help. He is pretty strict and not understanding at all. If you can just don't take his class, I think other professors are much better.
Foster is a strict teacher. The things we get tested on are completely different from what we were taught. He is very blunt and does not give students a chance to better their grade. He is a you get what you get type of teacher. Just avoid taking this class if you want a good grade. He is not understanding at all and can be cruel at times.
I have never had a professor with due dates so nonsensical. Good luck taking this class if you have a full-time job, because for some godforsaken reason, he doesn't allow anything to be submitted on the weekends. Not to mention he does not allow late work and his assignments are extremely difficult and unforgiving. Avoid this professor.
Great guy, very friendly. He obviously wants his students to do well and is easily reached outside of class.
Maybe his lectures are good, but he creates the quizzes and lectures so that you must recall minuscule details in each chapter. Thats really the only youll pass this class. Another thing to keep in mind is that this is very much a DIY course! So go in EXTREMELY prepared!!
Mr. Foster, supplies multiple resources to learn the material and is humorous!
It's very hard to take this course with other courses.
If you're more of an A/B student you will love his online class. There are weekly lectures that help you fill out his study guides. Tests are pretty much completely off the study guides. Tests are on respondus but they're not difficult as long as you study. If you are a student whose aim is just to pass I don't recommend his class.
He is very funny a makes jokes a lot throughout class. The entire class is just lecture though, there is no talking outside of the lecture so the environment is okay. If you are a very fast paced learner then this professor is for you! If not, I would find another professor, as I feel he whips through the lectures without substantial explanations.
I personally love Foster! His lectures are very fast-paced but he has a tight schedule and is very good about staying on it. He loves to tell stories and jokes throughout lectures, sometimes it gets him a little sidetracked. Take lots and lots of notes and pay attention to everything he says as they tend to show up on quizzes.
Mr.Foster structures his class around quizzes for lab and lecture, exams, and the final. If you want to succeed, read and use all of the resources provided, He has a study guide for each chapter that goes over 90% of what's covered on the lecture exams. I'd say 10% comes from lectures/slides. Put in the work, and you will succeed.
Honestly, he was such a great professor and person. Even though I did not ask many questions, when I did, he helped me, despite having already asked the same questions before. I liked how he linked real-world experiences and current events to pique students' interest in the class. Pay attention in class if you want to do well and ask questions :)
Mr. Foster has a clear and understandable lesson plans and has a study guid for each quiz which are actually helpful if you complete them. I ended the class with a high B. He drops the lowest grade from each test.
Mr. Foster is the best instructor I've had throughout my college career. He is very passionate about his job and enjoys teaching. He's caring and easily accessible for help or questions. He has study guides for every chapter that, if you fill out and study, you will pass your exams easily! You will not be disappointed with his lectures and labs!
Not that the class was difficult but he was awful himself. I had issues with my computer and he was NOT understanding and unapologetic for any issues I had. The worst part about this is he openly called me out (which I did not appreciate) in front of the whole class through announcements as if that's okay or professional???
Professor Foster's lectures were all over the place and it felt like none of the information he discussed in them were ever on the tests. His test questions were made to try and trick you so make sure you read wording VERY CAREFULLY or you will fail. I wouldn't take a class from him again.
Mr. Foster was the best.I missed the first test because of sickness and retakes are not offered he just drops. He will make sure u have what u need on study guides if u go to him! After he helped I started getting really good grades. All I have to say for him is that if you are struggling and go to him he will do his best to help you in his class!
Professor Foster was AMAZING!!! I took him over the summer online along with a CHM class and worked full-time. he dropped our lowest test scores and gave incredible lectures that made the material easy to understand and allowed multiple attempts at quizzes. Very available: every time I emailed him he responded within 15 minutes. READ STUDY GUIDES!
I really enjoyed Mr. Foster as my professor for BIO 111. During lecture he can get off topic a little bit, but I always found them easy to follow if you prepped for class and asked questions/participated. Make sure you take detailed notes in lecture/lab and complete the study guides as test/quiz questions are directly related to both.
Mr. Foster is my favorite professor at WTCC. He's super caring & understanding. As long as you pay attention & take notes during class & complete the study guides he provides, you'll do fine. For lab, write down everything he writes on the board. The tests make up the a huge chunk of your grade, so make sure you give yourself enough time to study!
Took this class for summer was really fast paced but if you are willing to work ahrd it really is an awesome class. Made me change the way I think. The instructor is really fun and informative who also includes jokes here and there during classes. I regret not taking this class during fall or spring cuase it's really fun. Easy if you study.
At the beginning of the semester, he told us in depth about how he knew this class was made for non-BIO majors, yet all of the coursework including the tests filled with trick questions required perfect memorization of things he often glossed over. By the second exam, 19/30 students failed (F), and he encouraged those who did to withdraw.
He is an amazing teacher and shows he's passionate while he's teaching you the material. As long as you take notes, pay attention, and complete the study guides he provides you'll do great. You can tell he genuinely cares about helping you understand.
This class is INSANELY difficult. The tests hardly cover any of the stuff he talks about in class, and are filled with a bunch of questions made to confuse you. He goes off-topic so much and talks about how he wants everyone to succeed, but 90% of the class is failing for those who haven't dropped it already. I do not recommend taking him.
Mr. Foster was a great professor. His quizzes and tests are based all on the lecture/study guide, and if he doesn't go over any content then it is removed from said tests and quizzes. He is good at explaining and connecting content. He also has a good sense of humor. Would definitely take him!
Amazing professor and my favorite this semester. Study guides are based on the quizzes and tests, so you know exactly what you need to study. The class is not difficult as long as you take good notes and pay attention. For labs, take extensive notes. Lectures won't cover everything in lab tests. Overall very responsive, genuine, and passionate.
Professor Foster acts like he sets things up for your success, but it feels like he hardly covers any of the material he expects you to know for the tests. Most of the class seems to be doing as poorly as I am, and I wish I had dropped it along with the other students who did. The study guides are worthless when all he asks are trick questions.
Do not take this professor whatsoever. Was a consistent honors student before his class and he has absolutely tanked my GPA. He advertised this class as accessible for people who weren't bio majors and it was the furthest thing from that.
I would recommend students who are required to take this class to choose a different teacher. He is not immersive at all and causes students who are not science majors to end up teaching themselves because he is simply too difficult. No extra credit, no set-up for success like he claims, and it will definitely negatively affect your GPA.
Professor Foster makes his expectations extremely clear at the start of the semester. He sometimes rambles during lectures, making it difficult to follow along. His study guides are clear for what you need to know for the test, though, so I've found it helpful to follow those! Take the time to study and take notes and it's definitely do-able.
Loved this professor. The class itself is obviously challenging, but he is very willing to help. His study guides are exactly what is on the exams, and he goes through the study guides in his lectures. I have never been good at any kind of science, and did better than ever in his class! If you come ready to learn, you will do well.
Mr. Foster is a good professor. There were 4 tests and the final. They were easy if you study. There were chapter quizzes either in person or online which were easy because he let you attempt it twice online and you could work with classmates in person. He was very silly and had funny stories. Just study for a couple days prior to lecture and test.
Hes a good guy, Just not the right teacher for a non science major to take. IF your not a bio major maybe choose another teacher. His lectures are confusing and he makes it a bit more difficult than need be (his words not mine). All good intended just not the best if its not your course of study.
Took an accelerated summer course. If I can make it through this course, you can. Professor Foster is very caring. He will make time for you. Others note his tendency to go off into tangents, but I think those are exaggerated. He tests after every unit before the big exams. They are great practice. I cannot stress this enough: take good notes!
Mr. Foster is a great professor! He is very thorough when it comes to lecture, and he does provide study guides for your benefit for chapter quizzes and lecture exams so highly recommend doing those. Studying, note-taking, and attendance are key in his class plus his quizzes are open-note. Highly recommend taking his class!
Good teacher but you HAVE to out in effort in order to do good. I recommend attending every lecture/class to insure you do good. He is kinda funny tho and seems like he cares but if you stay after class he will answer and clarify any topic. If you can't keep up with the workload, leave as soon as you can.
Brandon foster overall is great professor. If you are taking a bio class for the first time id suggest a different professor then because he is a bit advanced and expects you to know prereq material. His office hours are very helpful if you didnt understand something during lecture. He isnt a bad professor you just need to put in effort.
