There is 4 essays for the semester. The readings are all very interesting and the topics for the essays are pretty simple, but they make you think. Overall, I really enjoyed this class and hope to take another class taught by him.

His class makes you think. I really enjoyed this English class, it doesn't feel like work. It makes you think about the world you live in and yourself. For a five-week course, the work was not overwhelming. I loved the teaching style and the books we had to read. I would highly recommend taking this course.

I want to start by saying that this professor is extremly generous and understanding. Not only that but his class is actually interesting, in the beginning I was aprehensive on the class in general, but it turned out to be awesome and I'm glad I took it! Definitely would recommend.

I took summer mini section which consist of two papers, one long essay and one short essay. the books he chose for reading material were interesting and entertaining. Dr. Hernsbergers ENGL2327 class was not a difficult A to earn. That being said, this class is graded upon many essays throughout the semester. You must read sections of the book Dr. H assigns. He will assign a ready one week and the next week you will be assigned the essay topic. He gives a lot of freedom on how you write your essays.

I HATED early American literature before taking this class. Dr. B gave me new respect for Thoreau (but I still hate Emerson lol), and I'm sure anyone would enjoy this class! This was not what I was expecting from a level 2 English class. The material is relevant, based on pop-culture and you are challenged to think about the topic. Great teacher, to say the least. He makes sure the students understand what he's trying to teach. He paces his lectures with the feedback of his class which makes it convenient for students who have questions. The good thing that he is very connected with the students and replied to all my messages when I reached out through email/text.

I would take his class again . Hes an amazing professor the books he recommended us to read is outstanding because when enter we talk about the book and writes a mini essay . I would recommend him to anybody who havent taken him yet

Dr B is definitely an interesting character! Be ready to push your boundaries and really think and talk about controversial issues. Assignments are easy enough, just go to class and turn in the papers and youre all set.

The entire reason why I picked him was because of his high rating. The students werent lying. Dr. B is a great educator. There was never a dull moment. Hes engaged and listens. We were able to talk about even the most controversial topics which is always a great thing. If youre looking for you non-traditional English Proff, look no further!

Would definitely take his class again, always was excited for the next lecture and book to read. You wont regret it.

Prof Brandon is so good, call him when you don't understand and he will reply make you comfortable, easy going man. Take him and you will not regret.

I love the way he teach. We can freely express our thoughts and insights in every writing we do. Most of the assignments we did were all base on social medias that relates to our personal life and that makes the writing interesting. We normally read 3 to 4 chapters and then the next day we talk about it in the class. Then we do writing 2 to 3 pages

In my opinion, Dr. Hernsberger is an awesome professor. He believes that we are all writers and assigns work to help you find your own writing style. I read three books, wrote two short, and one long essay. I admire that "Dr. B" is down to earth, caring, discusses modern day topics, and is highly respected. I'd definitely take his class again:)

Dr. B is hands down one of the best professors Ive encountered at Houston Community College. He loves to read and has inspired me to do the same. He treats you like a friend and respects your beliefs. He assigns us papers and gives us certain requirements we must meet, but he also gives you the freedom to write what you want. Take him!

The students controlled this class. One 3-5 pg paper, one 10 pg paper, final was a 30 minute play with group of students. Gave his cell # out. You dont get a single grade back ever and never got a syllabus. We are still waiting on our grades to be put in so I dont know what I got in the class. Id take him again because he was easy.

Dr. Hernsberger! This is one of the most chill and coolest professors I've had in my 2.5 years at HCC. He is kind, helpful and very well educated. We don't have a textbook but we are asked to read a few books so be ready for that. The format of the class was much different than I expected. He loves what he does!

Mainly you read books that he chooses or as a class can choose, or other various topics such as films. Then write papers on them, but he does not care about how you write, creativity is all that matters. It is honestly one of the most chaotically fun English classes I have taken. If you are looking for structure this may not be the class for you.
