Brandon is a great professor! I loved this class and would love to have him as a professor again. The assignments were very easy and he is an easy grader. It is obvious that he loves his job and cares about his students.
He is a great professor
Brandon Juarez is an incredible educator. He cares about his relationships with all of his students and has a high understanding of their differentiated learning. Give him the effort and he will grant you the same. His class is easy and I highly recommend taking it with him.
Mostly clear. Very relate able. Not hard to sit through his classes. If you skip a class you WILL miss something important for you not just your grade.
Brandon Juarez is by far the best professor I have had at GCU. He is clear in his directions, expectations, and lessons. He goes beyond just teaching you what the course syllabus describes- he goes out of his way to ensure that his students are prepared when they step into the classroom. He truly cares for his students' success.
Mr. Juarez made the semester so informative. The communication aspect of the class I thought was the most helpful, the use of remind was very neat. Personally, I thought this class was going to be way harder than what it was, but it was fun, informative, and helpful. Definitely worth getting him for a professor.
This is my second class with Professor Juarez and I would definitely take many more courses he teaches!
He is knowledgeable, but stresses you out with an overload of requirements and expectations. Can be difficult to communicate with. Would not recommend taking his courses unless you have plenty of time on your hands to dedicate to reaching the standards he expects for his students
Prof. Juarez is an awesome instructor. He is fair, makes an effort to support students, and is very thorough with assignment details and class content. I wish more professors would show as much care for students as he does.
Professor Juarez is okay. He really strives for his students to understand and learn. I think sometimes he gets carried away from his lessons. He starts talking about other things than what needs to be taught. He also wants you participate in class. I honestly thought it was hard to participate because there were somethings I didn't know.
Professor Juarez is one of the worst professors I ever had. He has little to no care of your future as an educator. His praise does not match the grade, which means he is extremely critical in everything that he does.
Professor Juarez is the best. you can tell he cares for his students. The comment below is junk. i am also taking edu225 and think the course is good. I know friends who took this class online and said it so much harder. Professsor Juarez makes such an effort to make the class better for his students. The field trips this semester were awesome!
I so needed a professor like prof Juarez this semester. I am student teaching next semester and he helped me connect everything I've learned in my program to my future teaching. He showed everyone in class how to pay attention to the small things that make a class operate smoothly. I am SO thankful for Professor Juarez!
Prof. Juarez makes each class memorable. I'm still in this class but know I'll forget to write this once the semester ends. He treats students like adults. Although this a 200 level class and some students are stuck in high school mode, he does a great job of setting high expectations and focuses on the students that care.
I was scared for this class because classroom management is so crucial. Juarez created fun ways to introduce the material and was always prepared. Each assignment has been applicable to my teaching and I can use the materials in my future classroom. Strongly Recommend
Great professor, everything you do is geared toward your profession. This is classroom management and instead of telling us what to do and how to do it he had us actually do it. You are required to participate. Homework assignments are clear and purposeful-always willing to help. A real gem!
Professor Juarez is a professor who truly cares about making you the best future teacher that you can be. He gives great feedback and shares information and stories that will truly help you. A great professor!!
Professor Juarez does an amazing job setting expectations and giving precise instructions. You never have to question whether he is willing to help and assist you in doing your best.
Professor Juarez is hands down the best professor that I have had at GCU. All of the information that was gained in this class was relevant and he gave many opportunities to practice what we have learned. Professor Juarez will do everything he can to help his students be successful.
great professor, learned a lot, would take again!
He is an amazing Professor. Extremely smart and gives amazing feedback so that you can improve on the material in an amazing way.
Brandon Juarez is a real person both in and out of the classroom. He has a wealth of knowledge and he understands how to give that to his students. Mr. Juarez is an incredible teacher and is someone that I will seek advice from in the future. I have a ton of respect for him.
Professor Juarez is very knowledgeable and an amazing teacher. 11/10 recommended
Loved Professor Juarez! He made class so enjoyable to attend. He is such a fast grader and provides such great feedback.
Prf Juarez is my favorite professor this semester. He gives so much information in class that it can be overwheleming at times. But, as the semester goes on and I complete practicum, everything he teaches us is exactly how it is and the material he teaches is so applicable. He is the only professor I've had so far that teaches us how to teach
Professor Juarez taught me so much over the past few years. I have gained so much from his classes including the life skills along the way. I am more prepared and eager to student teach because of professor Juarez. He is kind, experienced, and works hard to assist students. He shows a genuine desire to help and pushes students to do their best.
This was an online class so I was not able to meet him, but he seemed very nice and understanding when grading. He was very clear about assignments and grading because he would provide videos for every assignment and explained in great detail what to expect .
Literally the best professor I've had. Classes never feel like a waste of time, and Professor Juarez makes learning experiences truly worthwhile. If you're taking ELM-210 or ELM-250 you should definitely take his class. You'll have to put actual effort into the assignments, but you'll actually learn during class and will never be bored to death.
I have never had a teacher who is passionate about their profession and manages the class as effectively as prof. Juarez. I was close to switching my major because I felt discouraged and inadequate, but because of this class, I feel more confident about being an educator. I have thoroughly enjoyed how engaging he was with everyone in class.
Mr. Jaurez was an exceptional instructor. He was positive, provided great feedback, included interesting and relevant material, and brought life to the content. His caring and compassionate demeanor could be felt through the online format. I would highly recommend him. This is a teacher I would stay in touch with for professional advice..
So far this course has been the most helpful class I have ever taken in college. Throughout this course I have learned so many important things that I never thought I would have needed to know when becoming a teacher. I truly appreciate how Professor Juarez models everything for us. This course is definitely helping prepared for my future.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the best experience in his class. He comes off as very rude to students, and grades very objectively based on if he does/doesn't like you. I had to genuinely fight for my grades constantly. His feedback wasn't helpful. He does respond quickly to emails. I did learn a lot though! Definitely wouldn't recommend.
Professor Juarez is the best professor I have ever had and I am a junior in college. He is the first professor that actually taught me how to be a teacher. His class is the first class in college that I have enjoyed going to. I know the information he taught will stick with me for life. I highly, highly recommend this professor.
I can say with the utmost honesty that this course is one of if not my favorite class I have taken at GCU thus far. My favorite element of instruction by far is the use of roleplay in allowing us to explore all the different scenarios that we may very well face as future teachers. the content of this course has proven very helpful in preparing me.
Juarez was the best!! This semester flew by and I know it was because every class meant so much. I never wanted to miss. Not because of the participation grade, but bc I knew i would miss alot of information. He was fantastic! By far best instructor ive had.
He teaches by doing. I have never learned so much in one class in all my years of school. His lectures & assignments are things you will ACTUALLY use in your career every day. He is all about constructive criticism to help you become the best teacher you can be. I loved going to his class. Plus he is hilarious. Highly recommend.
I love how Professor Juarez engages all of his students with his humor, body language, gestures, and student-centered learning. I have not only enjoyed learning a lot of great information that will help me as a future elementary teacher, but I have also loved getting to know more about my peers and engaging in conversations with them.
Good teacher- easy online class
Has the goal of really preparing you to be a teacher, but a super tough grader and participation is mandatory. Stressful.
Honestly, Professor Juarez has been by far the best instructor I have had at GCU. You have to try in his class! he is willing to work with you if you take it seriously. I loved the way he taught class, met with students one on one nad did not fluff things. He is real. you will get out of it what you put into it!
Juarez was a really great teacher. This class is so important, and it the foundation for everything you will do as a future teacher. He helped me learn so much, and wanted us all to succeed. He did a good job of keeping everyone engaged during lectures. Recommend him because this class is so important and he is incredible at teaching the material
Finally a professor that's gives practical advice about being a teacher. He explains things clearly and tells you why things are important. There is a lot of application in his class. If you care about being a good teacher, take his class!
By far the best professor I've had at GCU. If you are an Ed major, Juarez is a must have for ELM 250. Classroom management is a crucial component of teaching and he gives practical information and techniques that I will use. He can be a little tough sometimes because he has our best learning interests in mind. Highly recommend! :)
I have learned and grown so much as a future leader throughout this course. Professor Juarez's weekly videos helped tremendously. He also brought in personal stories about his experience as a school leader and offered a lot of wonderful readings. You can tell he has a lot of experience in the field. Best class in the program by far.
Prof. Juarez is a great teacher, and you will learn more from him than you will in any of your classes, but he is VERY intense and is really tough. He pushes you to be the best in your field, but it will take a lot of time and effort to do well in his class.
I learned the most from Juarez than I have from any other class at GCU. The knowledge you will receive from Juarez is undeniable. His class is stressful and difficult because he doesn't sugar coat what it's going to be like in the education field. Highly recommend, be ready to work for a good grade, it will not be a hand out, but he's understanding
Shows incredible grace and understanding if he sees that you are working hard & trying your best. You will be pushed to be the best educator that you can be, Juarez does not sugar coat how difficult the profession is. He will however give you the knowledge and skills to prepare you for your future. Every class will provide you with new knowledge.
I truly appreciate professor Juarez's push and interactions in the forums with our class. The opportunity for growth in his class was by far the most beneficial in my program to date. I also truly appreciated the video topics he shared each week. Very informative and clear.
Professor Juarez is really passionate about the education field, therefore he is a tough and intense professor. He wants the best for all his students, so by the time they hit their career they will be prepared. His class was hands down not easy, but it was worth it because I learned so much. He does not sugar coat. And you will WORK HARD.
Pro. Juarez was my evaluator throughout Student Teaching. He provided me with clear and effective feedback and showed support and confidence in me as an educator. He provided help with the certification process and advocated for me which led to a job directly after graduation. It is clear that Juarez is invested in each one of his students' success
Such an awesome teacher. He truly cares for students, however can be a tough grader.
Juarez clearly cares about the field of education and about us as pre-service teachers. Instead of lecturing on materials that we may never use, Juarez ensured that we all understood what was REALLY expected of us as future teachers, and was always real with us on what really mattered.
The instructor is very helpful in teaching students how to become teachers. His focus was for each student to become a great teacher. Assignments were clear, lectures were fun, and on occasion we would play games or have group discussions about what was unclear so he could clarify any confusion.
Professor Juarez is such an amazing professor. He is hard at times but he gives really good feedback. This class has prepared me for my teaching career more than any other class I've taken at GCU. You really need to participate to get the most out of the class. Give your all in this class & you'll get so much out of it! Highly recommend this prof!
Doctor Juarez is an amazing professor. He makes you work hard for the things you want to accomplish and the goals you set. I had him for both fall 18 and spring 19 semesters and I can honestly say he has taught me so much and made me so excited to teach someday.
This was a classroom management class and it was very hands on. Prof. Juarez is very nice has great insight into what its like to be a new teacher and knows what hes doing. This is one of the best teachers Ive ever had. He works with you to succeed in the course and gives you real life experiences for your future classroom. 100% recommended!
Prof. Juarez is an awesome guy! The class has a lot of information in it so be there ready to learn. He challenges you out of your comfort zone, but does it in a way that is encouraging. Great teacher and great person.
Juarez might be the best professor you will have at GCU. He genuinely cares about his students and what he is teaching. He teaches you things that not only apply to the course but also the near future.
Juarez is incredibly knowledgeable and demonstrates material very clearly and relatively. I have learned so much that is applicable to the field. I felt challenged and supported to be the best student and educator possible!
Professor Juarez is honestly one of my favorite professors at GCU. He is so caring and makes an effort to get to know all of his students. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced with education, and his classes are always engaging and humorous. I have learned so much in his classes, and feel prepared to teach in the future.
He is a phenomenal teacher& his class is extremely engaging! I feel well prepared for the classroom. He has some readings for you to do, but serve a purpose. Lots of group discussion& practicing what he is teaching, it's super helpful! He wants you to succeed& if you always show up& have a good attitude you will! Seems tough, but really he's great!
HE IS THE BEST! He is a hard grader and it is important that you come to class. I learned so much in his class! His class is a lot of work but it is worth it in the end. I am sad this is my last class with him.
Professor Juarez is amazing!! The work can be challenging and sometimes difficult, but he does this so you are able to become the best you can be. I learned so much from this course and will be taking a lot of what he taught in this course with me into my future career field. He is always available for help! 10/10 recommend
Professor Juarez is a great professor and I learned so much from him! You really have to put work inside and outside of the classroom with him, but that is to be expected at a the college level. Sometimes his feedback came off more harsh than helpful, but he only wants his students better people and future teachers. Take him, you won't regret it.
Dr. Juarez is absolutely amazing! I took his class this past semester and had a blast. His lectures are very interactive and helpful when learning the material/strategies. One of the things I enjoyed most about the class is he lets us role-play situations that could happen in the classroom. Overall, I would highly recommend him to anybody :)
He was amazing, yes he made you work for it but only because he cared and wanted you to learn. He also was so inspirational and caring. OH! and hilarious! You could tell he knew what he was talking about so you get a lot of help and tips from him. Participation matters though!
If you can, take Dr. Juarez. He is so awesome and has prepared me so much for my field in education. He makes you work for it but he is preparing you to be the best teacher you can be.
Dr Juarez is a great professor. He really cares about his students and making sure we are ready to be teachers. He is a tough grader but it's only to help us be ready for the real world. Overall a good prof to take
Dr. Juarez is an amazing professor, he applies what he has experienced in the real world into his lectures. He takes whats in the book and creates fun lectures that are interactive. He also goes above and beyond to make sure he gives information about teacher certification. I would love to take his class again!
I love Dr. Juarez! He is my favorite professor I've taken at GCU. If you have the chance to take him, TAKE HIM! He is extremely knowledgable and truly has YOUR best interest in mind. He wants to help you be the best teacher possible and always answers all your questions. He is funny, helpful, and so caring. Take Dr. Juarez!
He really cares that you succeed and do well. He is definitely one of the most caring and best professors I have ever had. I wish I could have him for every class.
Words cannot begin to describe my appreciate and respect for Dr. J. He is passionate and gives of his time to provide the best support for his students.
My favorite part of this course was the insight Dr. Juarez provided each class. He gave great information and advice based on his experiences and prepared us greatly to move on in the program. He also helped to prepare for the real world when we become teachers which is something we do not always get from our professors in the education department.
Professor Juarezs class was the most encouraging and helpful environment I have ever been in. Juarez taught me so much and I learned I am really meant to be a teacher and I am excited to make more classes from him.
I have never met a professor as energetic and professional as Dr. Juarez. My favorite part of the class was Dr. Juarez. If this class was taught by someone else, I would have not have learned nearly as much.
Dr. J has been the best teacher I've had so far in my GCU experience. His knowledge of teaching is obvious and he shows that through his models and information shared. The assignments in the class are very beneficial for our future as teachers. He makes class enjoyable while still keeping us on task. 10/10, the BEST education professor at GCU!
He's a really cool teacher and I learned a lot from his class. Expect to participate a lot though with him and the students in the class with you. He doesn't lecture to often but when he does he completely understands the struggle.
Juarez does a great job at keeping students in engaged and collaborating during the class. He is not all lecture and keeps the class fun. Feedback is very specific and helpful towards practicum.
Juarez is hands down one of the BEST professors I have ever had. He is very dedicated to teaching future teachers and applies his experience to every lesson. Every lesson was super exciting and fun!
Professor Juarez teaches you relevant information that you will use in your teaching career. He teaches you everything from interview skills to every single detail that goes into building a lesson plan. It is obvious that he cares a lot about all of his students! Easily my favorite professor at GCU.
Juarez was so beneficial in my education career. I am so grateful for his thorough and honest feedback. He is kind but also not afraid to let you know his opinion and how to better yourself as a future educator. He's not a sugar coater and genuinely cares that you develop the necessary skills to become the best educator we can.
Dr. Juarez did an amazing job teaching us students how to properly lesson plan! There were times where the course was tough, but Dr. Juarez did his best to prepare us for the tests and did well in providing us with all the resources we needed. He was very respectful and likeable! He also understood the need to not lecture the entire class time. :)
I'm not afraid to work for my grade and I am not afraid to be graded toughly. Dr. Juarez is one of the rudest professors i have ever met. I am not a stranger to sarcasm and i have thick skin but a professor but saying unprofessional comments then trying to pass it off as a joke is not okay. i would never recommend him to anyone, ever.
Makes the material applicable to your learning Gives direct examples of how this matters as a future teacher
I do not know where to start. I feel discriminated from this professor. It seems like he didnt want to help me at all. One day, I needed clarification for one of his assignments but he just told me to go watch the video again even though Ive already watched it. I was irritated and overall he was super rude towards me.
At first I thought that he was going to be a great professor to work with but I just want to say that I didn't think I will be treated a certain way.
Dr. Juarez taught us how to be teachers. He was the best example of being a teacher Ive received so far in my program. Finally a professor who is real and simply teaches how to be a teacher. Enough of the fluff and crap Im never going to use. The videos, the purposeful lessons, hes the best!
By far the best professor this year! Juarez is the only professor that had something for us to do and learn on the virtual days. I didnt feel like I got ripped off because I wasnt in class both days each week. And he made videos explaining each topic assignment. He went out of his way to make this year meaningful and did the best job! Take his clas
Dr. Juarez is the best! I had him both semesters this year! If you are on the fence with being a teacher, take his class! This is the first class that i didn't feel like it was high school all over again. He treats you like an adult and expects you to act like it. He is fair, offers lots of videos, and makes class fun.
He is the example of what I want to be as a teacher. I loved how he showed how to balance care for students (all the video support, fast email responses, and grading feedback) with high expectations. I don't expect handouts or college to be easy. He's the model of what a professor should be! He's approachable and will support your effort! Take him
Dr. Juarez is a phenomenal professor. He's a tough teacher but one that you'll appreciate in the long run. He prepares you well for student teaching. In order to be the best prepared, you'll need to be ready to listen and take notes. It's a course that doesn't get refreshed before student teaching so be sure that you pay attention. He's an expert.
Juarez is the best! Keys to his class: show up, take notes, ask questions, and make an effort to learn the content. Study outside of the class and do the assigned readings. He's going to make it worth it and everything he teaches is useful! My roommate just finished student teaching and validated everything Juarez teaches!
Dr. Juarez makes his classes participation heavy. I had him for ELM-210 and ELM-250 and this was the case in both classes. If you dont show up to class, you will not understand. He gives great feedback; however, he can be a very particular grader and take points off for small things. Overall, hes a good professor to take for these classes.
Dr. Juarez is truly the best professor. He is kind and caring to all his students. He makes sure everyone knows whats going on in class and all due dates for assignments. He also discusses assignments before they are to due and explains exactly what hes looking for. One of the best professors GCU has.
Dr. Juarez made learning fun. I felt really comfortable in the class environment he created. He offers a lot of routine and resources to learn. He wrote me a sweat note and inspires the best in his students. I cant imagine trying to learn the content for this course from a different professor. Hes the best and cant wait to take him next semester
Dr. Juarez really was a great professor. He makes the material easy to learn. In my opinion, he sometimes overly explains material that I think is pretty easy to grasp already, but that can be a good thing. It is obvious that he is very passionate about teaching. He is super nice and makes an effort to get to know all of us. He's really great.
Dr. Juarez has made such an impact on me and many other students. He is the kind of professor to know everyone's name and stories. He is not a harsh grader but will give honest and useful feedback on how to improve. He will not sugarcoat but will care and is kind. He is fun and makes participating fun!
Dr. Juarez is truly the greatest teacher I have ever had, and I became way more confident in my teaching skills after taking classes from him. All of the assignments were very relevant, and he gave great feedback on every single one, as well as being funny and caring. I took him for ELM-210 and ELM-250 and I'd highly recommend taking his classes!
Dr. Juarez is awesome! Class is very interactive, so you will have to get out of your shell! He builds a good community, teaches clearly, and makes class fun and meaningful. He grades fairly and leaves good comments. I recommend his class so much!
Dr. Juarez is one of the best professors I have ever had! I had him for both ELm-210 and Elm-250, and both were amazing.
Dr. Juarez is probably the best instructor I've ever had. He cares so much about training his students to be educators and he is clearly passionate about his job. He pushes everyone to be the best they can be and is so kind and loving towards everyone. Every assignment felt relevant to the class and he always made videos explaining each assignment.
This is the third time I have had Dr. Juarez but this time it was online. Although there were no lectures to teach the content, he would create a video for each topic to explain each assignment and any information we needed. The DQs were actually relevant to the field and he gave good feedback for all work
Dr Juarez is one of the BEST professors Ive had a GCU! I feel so prepared after his class for the NES exam, we do a lot of hands on/role playing rather than sitting and listening to lectures which I found really helpful! He gave us really cool opportunities other professors wouldnt give their classes but I highly recommend him !!
He was great but expects a lot of participation. Participation is based on a quiz taken each topic.
Dr. Juarez could not be a more knowledgeable and helpful professor. He's the best professor I've ever had. Every single thing I learned in this class directly applies to being in the classroom, extremely practical. I will refer back to this class' content continuously once I enter the teaching field. Cannot recommend highly enough
Dr. Jaurez was an amazing professor and he prepared me very well for my future career. He knows what he is talking about and has a lot of knowledge! Very caring of the students and his homework and assignments are clear to the topic of the class!! really recommend!!!!!
Professor Juarez is an amazing teacher. I had him for both ELM 210 and ELM 250 and have loved both of those classes. He is practical and relatable and really prepares us for our future careers. Professor Juarez is funny, kind, and caring. He gives us very practical scenarios and criticism to help us better ourselves. He is an amazing professor!
Very intentional and applicable for the teaching field
I had Dr. Juarez for both ELM-210 and Elm-250. He was a great instructor and added many real life classroom situations in class.
Dr. Juarez is hands down one of the best professors I have had thus far! Be prepared to participate in class, but it is extremely useful and you will not find this kind of engagement in any other course!
Literally the best professor ever. I love this man.
Amazing!! The best class and professor I have had. Participation based and always makes class fun. I have learned so much in this class alone. Must take his courses!! You will learn so much. I feel so prepared already from just taking one class! Assignments are very clear and he gives excellent directions. Always approachable and ready to help.
Dr. Juarez was by far the best professor I have had. I truly felt like I learned a lot more on how to be a teacher, more than I will in any of my other classes. In this class, it is participation intensive so make sure you show up to class. You can tell he truly cares about his students in his class and wants to them to be successful teachers.
Professor Juarez is a must take at GCU! He prepares students for their futures outside of just the information required to teach in ELM 250. He told us all about certification tests, student teaching, and gave us tools that we will actually use when we become teachers. The lectures are engaging and he has students practice and not just learn.
He's so amazing, great professor, encouraged my love of being a teacher!
Such a great professor! Super caring and is very structured and organized. He always makes sure information is clear to you and is always willing to help make sure you understand the content. Also, homework is not that tough just make sure you plan and go to class!
Dr. Juarez is overall a great professor! He really cares about ensuring you learn the content and understand it both in theory and application. Participation and attendance is very important for this class, this class can become difficult if you do not apply yourself. He gives lots of notes via handbooks, and cares a lot about his students!
Dr. Juarez. How do I even begin to explain Dr. Juarez? He is THE best professor in the game - he loves Jesus, education, his family, and his students. I would take every course from him if possible, and cannot endorse him highly enough.
I was excited because I only heard amazing things. However I had him online and this was the worse class I have taken he is nothing like people stated. He is a tough grader he is not understanding when you need help. I would suggest not taking his online class all the assignments are things we should be doing in a physical class not online.
Dr. Juarez is a good professor. He makes all of his classes meaningful and gives helpful feedback. However, online, he irritated me at times. He was always misconstruing what I said in my DQs and was rigid and set in his ways. I'm kinda glad he won't be my student teaching instructor, because I always felt a bit tense around him, even online.
I just finished Student Teaching with Dr. Juarez. I can't imagine going through this crazy semester without his support! Dr. Juarez knows what we need as teachers and does an incredible job preparing us! This job is hard and you need to grow up fast! I'm SO thankful Dr. Juarez didn't sugar coat things! I'm prepare because of him!
Dr. Juarez is like a Grandpa (in a good way) LOL. He thinks the most of his students, sets clear expectations, and leads his class by example. He is wise, funny, and is always willing to go the extra mile to support his students. He doesn't put up with BS tho and expects students to care and work hard. Take his courses if you want to learn!
I looked forward to this course because of recommendations from my advisor and other students, but Dr.Juarez grades essentially fully on participation, and reuses assignment notes or grading (i.e. i got the same notes on my final assignment as another student from another hour of his class, but the notes did not apply at all to my paper)
Overwhelms you with assignments and asks for a lot. Even if you complete everything he asks on the rubric, and you are detailed, he's a very tough grader. It's hard to understand what exactly he's looking for. He locks the assignments as soon as the deadline expires and then you have to message him to unlock them a day later. Not recommended.
Dr. Juarez was the best professor in my ed admin program to date! He called me the first day of class to welcome and introduce himself! I've never had a prof do this before! He used videos to explain expectations and to teach the content each week, again never had a prof go above and beyond like this before! He taught with care and passion!
I had Dr. Juarez last semester. He was so helpful in preparing me to become a teacher! He teaches by putting you in control of your learning. He wants you to try and helps you learn by practicing! He always was positive, helpful and had purpose with what he taught us. Take his class!
He is very informative, I learned so much. He is there to teach you and help you become a great teacher. He has your best interest in mind. He really breaks things now and makes them easier to understand. Great professor.
Dr. Juarez is a good teacher and engages his students, however: - He is hard to reach. He had two office hours this semester and he does not answer questions over email. You also cannot reach him from Friday 3 pm until Monday morning. - He is not flexible or set on you finding solutions. - He frequently made me feel dumb when I asked questions.
Dr. Juarez has been one of my favorite professors thus far. He is knowledgeable on the content and teaches it in a way that you will remember it. I found it easy to learn in his class since he makes learning fun. He also ties many concepts in with each other to make sure we are remembering everything. Dr. Juarez is amazing, but he is a tough grader
Dr. Juarez is a fantastic professor. He knows so much and knows every answer to a student's question. You learn a lot in his class because he pushes you even though it was hard many times for me. His classes are the ones I will never forget because he genuinely cares about his students becoming successful teachers one day.
This is a participation intensive course, but everything you learn is beneficial and applicable to all the assignments.
Dr. Juarez is a great professor and truly wants his students to become great teachers! He does have high expectations of his students but he just wants us to succeed. I would definitely take Dr. Juarez again in the future!
Professor Juarez was engaging and kind! I loved taking his class and absolutely would choose him again for another class. It is obvious his goal is for you to succeed.
Dr. Juarez is a great professor! He is serious when he needs to be but also likes to have fun and get to know his students. If you miss a day or know you are going to miss a deadline, he is willing to push it back and listen if you have actual reasons. Overall, he is such a great professor and I recommend him!!
Absolutely amazing professor! He makes the work load and the lectures seem a lot more manageable and enjoyable. Be prepared to get active in your learning. Class is mandatory! You cannot pass without going to each class section, he packs in a lot of important information in just 7 topics.
Highly recommend this professor. It felt I was drinking from a fire hose of information! He does a great job of keeping students engaged; his class is never boring. Everything was extremely practical and applicable. Watch his videos posted in the announcements to see what he is looking for in assignments (more important than looking at the rubric).
Dr. Juarez is the best! He is so caring and kind but make sure to be communicative with him if you will miss a class even if its the same day! He gives amazing lectures and keeps the class interesting by always having us talk to the people in the class and it created a really safe environment to learn and make mistakes. Take him if you can!
Dr Juarez is one of the best professors I have had at GCU. He makes class fun and enjoyable. You learn many valuable and important information and you will carry with you in your future career. He is helpful and understanding and you can tell that he cares and his students and their success. I rate Dr. Juarez 10/10
This professor is by far one of my favorites. In every one of his classes, you are learning how to have great classroom management and he gives exceptional feedback to make sure you are prepared. I recommend this class to everyone going in education. Cares about his students, cares about our learning, and gets to know his students.
Dr. Juarez was by far my favorite professor at GCU so far. He truly cares so much about us and our future as educators. I especially liked that he gave us practical skills to take with us in the future. I truly feel this was one of my first actually helpful classes I've taken. He's amazing! 10/10
Super hard assignments. I had a hard time understanding especially when discussions. Always picked on me if I didn't have an answer. Always made me feel embarrassed. Tough grader.
Dr. Juarez was a great professor! Each lesson was meaningful and practical! He was very clear with grading, uses videos to help with each assignment, and goes above and beyond expectations! He wants you to be a successful teacher and teaches you like it! We did lots of role playing and he modelled what each skill looks like. Take his class!
Dr. Juarez had amazing teaching techniques and I feel like i learned a ton from his lectures. I would give him 5 stars but occasionally he would display impatience when students struggled to grasp the concepts. He was unapproachable at times and could be intimidating and rude when asking for guidance and feedback.
I loved Professor Juarez. He really demonstrates what he teaches all throughout the semester; he is very practical. Everything he teaches can be related directly to what we will need to do in the classroom one day to be effective and have good practices. He gives a lot of pointers on how to do the homework in class too!
My sister is an elementary teacher and she said literally everything I've shared with her from this class is useful! Dr. Juarez goes FAR above and beyond for students by creating videos each topic and Zooms with a classroom teacher at a nearby school so we can see what he teaches in action. Serious, no other professor does this stuff! Take him!
I feel he actually prepared me for the profession. He teaches with a good mixture of lectures, modeling, and time for us to talk and practice what we're learning. I don't know if its because he's a male professor, but I love that he doesn't sugarcoat things! He makes clear how to be successful & has high expectation for his students.
Participation was based on mini-tests at the end of each unit. You can't reach him after Friday at 3 pm till Tuesday at the earliest. He belittled our class and talked to us like 2nd graders. He was great at first really thought I was going to like him but kind of a jerk and is never wrong
Dr. Juarez is the best. Classes are meaningful and he treats us like adults. He does a lot of extras like records lectures and makes assignment videos. Literally other classes we color and do things that arent needed. Im a commuter so it was nice to know he treats all students fairly, made expectations clear, is accessible, and made class worth it.
Dr. Juarez is amazing. He is an engaging teacher, he makes me excited to become a teacher.I am taking him again next year because of how much I liked his class. He grades on specific criteria, but if you are confused, he will talk to you.7am class was difficult, but he made it great. It is a hard class, but if you listen/ do the work you'll be fine.
Dr. Juarez is one of the BEST instructors I have ever had. He will PREPARE you for the profession and does not sugar coat which I personally need. He is a tough grader but always provides rationale and feedback on assignments.
I took this class online which probably makes a difference because looking at the other reviews people say he is great which I did not see that from him. His assignments were very hard to grasp and I have received all As from all other classes besides his. His feedback is aggressive and he makes you feel dumb if you don't do something right.
Professor Juarez runs an engaging class, though can be tough on students at times. His teaching style works well if you stay on top of the work. Unstuck ai was a huge help for study prep in this course.
This professor is amazing but you have to put in the work. You will learn so much but you gotta show up.
Dr. Juarez is a great professor. His lectures are well done; he is the only professor who can keep me engaged for the full class. The reason I don't give him a 5/5 is that he is a tough grader and can be hard to approach, but he cares for his students and wants them to succeed. Also, he does quizzes for participation, so make sure to pay attention!
Dr. Juarez has amazing lectures and advice. He refuses to differentiate or give any help when asked. He is belittling. He is super picky about grading and changes his mind on criteria. He will mark points down for "asthetics", will mark sections as no submission because of formatting errors. Jokes about changing majors because his class is "hard".
Dr. Juarez overall is a really good professor! He is very knowledgeable in the field of education and definitely practices the things in class with us that he teaches us to do in the future. He is very strict when it comes to assignments and takes showing up to class and being engaged very seriously. I learned a lot from his class!
Professor Jaurez is very knowledgeable on the subject, however I would not take another one of his classes again. For the participation grades for every topic, he would have tests. What you got on the test, is what you got for participation in that topic. He also would make you feel dumb when you'd ask him a question. He is just not a nice person.
Would not take his class again, but I did take fully online. He will make you feel stupid for wanting clearer instructions and changes his mind on grading. During his Benchmark he told me everything was wonderful then when he graded it, I got a 90/300 which is why I got the C in the last week of class. Had to retake with a new professor.
He is rude and belittling. Does not answer questions and does not care about your life circumstances whatsoever. He will tell you not to use the bathroom, no technology and no communication with those around you. He is very self involved and it is his way or the Highway. I would not recommend him to anyone but my worst enemy. DO NOT TAKE!
Professor Juarez is a great professor he is inspiring and gives great instruction of what it will be like to be an educator. His class does have some big projects and his grading is quite strict but if you need help he is happy to give you valuable feedback. Overall I would defiantly take this class again.
Very passionate about what he teaches and I learned a lot! However sometimes he came off like he thought his ideas were the only ones we should use in our classrooms which was interesting. One big assignment per topic very applicable and good assignments
Don't take Dr. Juarez if you want an empathetic or lenient professor. He's a super hard grader and will take lots of points off for small things. Our final isn't even based on course content, but recall of a PODCAST we listened to outside of class. When my friend's mom was dying, he wouldn't let her take the final online while she was at home.
I do not think this man has ever stepped foot in an elementary classroom as a teacher. He seems knowledgable but lacks the adequate experience to teach these courses. He also doesn't care about his students at all. We have even less experience than him but he expects us to be as good as 10th year teachers. It's his way or the highway. Just ew.
I've had him twice now and he is a good professor when it comes to the content. His classes are engaging and some strategies are helpful. I really liked him after 210, but in 251 he seemed to be more opinionated and you must take what he says or else. I would still recommend him, but be aware that there might be multiple things you disagree with.
The expectation to be engaged during class with peers was super helpful and made class more engaging and enjoyable. Engagements also helped me learn better and feel less tired. He helped us be successful with expectations like being on time and in class in order to understand the assignments and ask questions.
Dr. Juarez really showed me how much I did not know about teaching. In this class, he will explain so many things that you have never thought about. This was so helpful because I feel more prepared than my peers who don't take his class. I cant imagine taking classroom management from a different professor. Take him!
He is a good professor, he wants to prepare us well to be teachers. His class is definitely more work than if you took the course with a different professor. He doesn't believe in just giving you points you have to take quizzes to earn those points
Bold move from comment below about what he says goes...he's literally a Doctor in Education and has been teaching this course for years. This girl sat at my table group and literally was so rude. Dr. Juarez is fantastic, helps you actually learn strategies, and makes you think! Just because 'her mom is a teacher' doesn't mean it's right LOL
Thank you Dr. Juarez for a great experience. I have learned so much. Your extra effort with the videos and the constant feedback does not go unnoticed. The videos were very helpful in explaining in detail about the assignments. I give you all the credit for that! There was a lot to take in and understand, I have thoroughly enjoyed this class
I have a greater confidence in my lesson planning and objective writing than I thought would be possible in one course. The way you explained writing an objective broke it down in simple terms that I could understand and implement. I plan to take what I have learned from you and continue to build on it. Thank you for your part in this process.
Dr. Juarez just presented PD to my school and he was fantastic! He is application-focused, which is MISSING in normal PDs! Usually, PDs are a drag! His was by far the best! I was on the fence to starting a masters program but if he teaches in this university, I am going to register at GCU! Thans Dr. Juarez for being an educator who gets educators!
Dr. Juarez is an incredible professor who truly inspired me. He leads by example and creates a learning environment grounded in compassion, excellence, and faith. It's clear that he was called to be a teacher, his ability to integrate Christian values while laying a strong foundation for future educators through the work of Christ is remarkable.
was an ok person when talking in group settings but the minute it was one on one would talk to you like you're stupid. he was my first ever class as a freshman and expected me to have the knowledge of a current working teacher. would not take his class again
Just had PD by Dr. Juarez. I am a 5th grade teacher with ten years experience as a teacher. My daughter is in Dr. Juarez's class at GCU. She loves him and I can now see why. Anyone reading this, know ALL the resources and ways he teaches are exactly what you need! You are not in high school, you're in college and this prof is preparing you well!
If you have this professor on your schedule, switch out as fast as possible. At first, he is a nice guy, and you think the class is going to be good, but then he becomes hypocritical and condescending. He makes you feel stupid for asking questions. By the end of the semester, his true colors will come out.
I've had Dr. Juarez for 3 of my classes (2 in person and 1 online) and I've learned so much from him. The classes are all participation heavy and grading can be hard but he always gives good feedback. He even sends recorded lectures if you miss a class but only if you let him know before the actual class time starts.
He's very knowledgeable in his area. If you come to him early enough with questions, he's more than happy to help. His attitude started to shift late in the semester, and he's not reachable outside of class; he has no office hours. Stay engaged and go to class, you'll be fine!
He's a strong lecturer who keeps students engaged and clearly knows the material. However, he can be inflexible at times and gives limited guidance on the highly detailed benchmark assignments. Participation is mandatory with no excused absences, so the class often feels strict.
This man is literally the worst professor I have ever had at GCU. He is not nice and will help you with NOTHING. He literally acts like he hates the students in his class. He made a girl literally sob her eyes out in class bc he wouldn't help us with assignments. If you can get literally any other professor take that opportunity. Run.
HE WAS TERRIBLE!!! He acts all nice and welcoming at first but the further into the semester he got so mean and condescending. He loves to make his students feel so stupid and small. He straight up does not care about you or your grade. Save yourself the stress and choose a different professor.
