Professor Reyes is fantastic! He gives very interesting lectures, which triggers any students to ask and comprehend the materials better. You will get what you want as long as you put your time and effort for the class. Come over to his office for clarification or discussion on anything about the subject. He will make you love Biology even better!

As long as you show up to class & ask any questions on things you are concerned about you should get an A. His lectures are good & he tries his hardest to make sure students understand his content. This was his first semester teaching oceanography and was pretty disorganized, but his lectures should hopefully be better for oceanography in thefuture

He's nice, and there's no need for the textbook (I didn't buy it). He wants students to succeed. Lecture heavy but interesting, and he has had cool experiences in the field of Oceanography.

Such a great teacher, he cares about you succeeding and understanding what is being taught. His lectures are interactive and not boring, he gives a lot of background and stories to help better your understanding. He will help anytime you have a question.

Mr. Reyes was an outstanding professor. He is so passionate and knowledgable about teaching it makes you enjoy the class and want to pay attention that much more. Not a hard grader, super friendly and easy to talk to. He is driven toward the academic growth of his students and I would 100% take any of his classes again.

I went through some super rough health patches, and he supported me through them and helped me reach my goals of completing the class. He is so down to Earth, extremely caring and understanding to his students especially when you show him that you are trying and putting some effort. Its more difficult to fail his class than it is to pass it, that's how easy he makes it for his students. GOAT

Professor Reyes cares a lot about his students and it really shows! Lectures can be lengthy just due to the nature of the class, but he supplements his with amazing real-world applications from his experiences as a scientist and researcher. Listens to his students and is reasonable with tests. He even brought us doughnuts for all the field trips!

Best bio teacher I've had and probably will have. He makes lectures interesting and interactive, as he asks students to answer questions constantly, although a lack of action will slow down lectures a lot, so try to participate! The only worry I had was Practical Exams, but if you truly understand the lab content, you'll get high A's with the curve

Mr. Reyes is one of the best professors in DVC's science department. He truly cares about each student and wants them to succeed in his class. Super caring and well rounded! He tries to engage his students as much as possible and encourages participation.

Im only halfway through the semester, however he is easy to access, supportive and an all around great teacher.

Ccience isn't my strongest subject, but his class surprised me and he was a great professor! His lectures are interesting and he explains things so it's easy to understand and in layman terms. Attending lectures and taking notes is a must, but no homework! Exams aren't the easiest so definitely study. Overall, I'd take his class again!

Professor Reyes' is just awesome & very knowledgeable. He is a genuinely nice guy & it's obvious he cares about his students. He is very flexible with his assignments & due dates, so always ask if you need an extension. Your grade is mainly the lab practicals & lecture exams, but he gives EC and curves exams often. I highly recommend his class!! :)

Professor Reyes was phenomenal--I was nervous for this class because I'm not great at physical science, but I finished with a 99%! He had a great teaching style and genuinely wanted to see his students succeed. He had to teach over Zoom, too, which is difficult. But he made it work. Would take again!

Be prepared to do fun assignments (art project, plant collection...) & learn a lot about plants & animals. Professor Reyes is an amazing instructor! I took his class during Covid stay-at-home orders and he made the semester smooth. He is clear about grading criteria and participation is a must! Speak up, put in the effort, & you will have a fun class. He is very caring and wants students to do well. Visit him during office hours. (I found it helpful!)

As long as you put in an effort youll be fine! The lectures are amazing and he really cares about his students. This class changed my opinion on science in general. The exams can be a little difficult but the study guides are a lifesaver! He gives extra credit opportunities to help your grade. I learned a lot from his class and would take again!

Quizzes& tests are based on information from the lecture. He didn't use the book. You need your camera on during lecture and if you miss too many classes he will drop you. Gives extra credit at the end of the semester and opens all quizzes so you can complete them if you missed any. 1 essay- 4 paragraphs. Tests are tough but open book. He's cool.

Love this guy, super cool and friendly to talk to! The tests are hard but open note but he gives so much extra credit that you don't need to do that well on them. Take him you won't regret it even if youre not good at science!

BIOSC131 is an information-heavy class. Prof. Reyes does his best to make the class manageable and interesting. He breaks down the topics to make them easy to understand, is funny, and tells stories from his biology jobs. Write down what he says in lecture. Do the study guides. Attend review sessions. Prof. Reyes is the real deal, take his class!

TAKE HIM He is so knowledgeable and passionate about his work which makes it so enjoyable to learn. He's EXTREMELY helpful and the class is engaging. Take notes while following the lecture and you'll pass, he tells you what you need to know. He is so understanding and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. I highly recommend this class.

TAKE THIS CLASS! If I could give him more than a 5, I would. He's very passionate and caring about his students. He encourages students to participate calls on you. He lectures everyday and the tests are based on them. No homework other than catching up on notes, there's 1 essay. The only downside is he talks fast, so watch the recorded lectures.

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Science was never really a strong suit of mine but his lectures were absolutely great! He explained things really well and was very easy to understand. He's super understanding and will work with you if you're having difficulties in his class. His exams are a bit tough but as long as you go to class and take notes it's fine!

Favorite class out of my five classes, and I never even liked science. Professor Reyes is so passionate and caring for his students. He provides lots of extra credit opportunities, and takes time out of his own to host optional zoom lectures if you need extra help. You have to put in work, but he makes it easy. Take him!

A wonderful professor who is very accommodating. Has a lot of extra credit opportunities and gives good-yet-nerdy pop-culture examples. Open note tests, whatever you don't finish in class is homework. Made me enjoy science, would take the class again.

Prof Reyes is AMAZING and LGBTQ+ friendly. He really cares about his students and is actually pretty lenient, if you show that you are actually trying. The exams and quizzes weigh a lot so you really have to study but he gives extra credit and lots of time to study. His lectures go quick but he records them. He is awesome and I highly recommend.

The man, the myth, the legend: Brandon Reyes! Literally my favorite professor I've ever had! I enjoyed this class so much that I'm considering changing my major. Professor is so nice, funny, caring, and knowledgeable. Tests are easy and similar to study guides. Lots of extra credit and fun field trips. Brandon is the best!

Brandon was a great teacher and he was super understanding of things happening outside of class and let me turn in an essay late. This class was a lot of work, 2 lectures a week and a lab. We had 4 big test for lecture and 3 for lab and one short essay, along with weekly quizzes. Their are also 2 mandatory field trips. But it was all manageable.

10/10 take this class!!! Minimal work each week only one quiz and sometimes submit drawings from class, 3 exams in total and one research paper only 1.5 pages long. Attend the lectures and you'll be fine. He offers so much extra credit and wants everyone to pass the class. Great teacher wish DVC had more teachers like him.

I wish professor Reyes could teach more bio classes! He is the best bio professor I have ever had. His lectures and labs are heavily packed with information but if you pay attention it is much easier to study for exams. Professor Reyes made both oceanography lectures and labs very interesting and kept us entertained with stories from his research job. We covered a lot of curriculum but he made sure we were able to understand everything we were learning. I highly recommend him as a professor!

Professor Reyes was a joy to have as a teacher this year. While the lectures are long he makes them interesting with videos and activities. Most weeks you will have a quiz but they are open to everything. Make sure you do all the study guides as they are incredibly helpful for tests, and are extra credit. Would take it again in a heartbeat.

Truly amazing!! The class can be quite content-heavy and fast-paced, but pay attention and participate in class and you will do well. Office hours are incredibly helpful. best prof at src hands down. super chill and empathetic guy and is passionate about the subject. hes the type of prof that makes you want to actually try hard and do well for your own sake. easy dub if you pay attention in lec and lab (not hard at all). theres a lot of participation involved but dont be afraid of it, you might end up enjoying it!

This guy is a sweetheart. I asked for an accomodation and he did it no questions asked. This class has a lot of material, and it definitely took up a great deal of my time during the semester, but if you're going to take this class, take it with him. Study hard for the exams, participate, and you will be fine.

Professor Reyes is one of the most wonderful, understanding teachers I have had at DVC. He did have decently long lectures but he makes sure the class is engaged and still does offer lots of extra credit and review sessions for students who need extra help. He does go fast, but he will stop and focus on topics students need extra help with.

BRey was an awesome professor. Dude had very entertaining lectures and was just the coolest guy ever. Very helpful and as long as you give effort in his class you will get an A. Probably my favorite professor I've ever had. Only thing is that if you take Ocean 102, the labs are long and can sometimes be a little boring. Besides that, he was awesome

The only reason my grade wasn't that high was all fault of my own but Mr. Reyes was for sure one of the best teachers I have ever had. I took his class in fall of 2022 and I miss it! As someone who had an interest in marine biology I loved it. The field trips were so fun and interactive and I feel like I learned so much. Take his class if you can!

Easy A as long as you pay attention. He offers extra credit and encourages you to study. Lectures are very fun and lab is great because of the field trips. Prof Reyes was the highlight of DVC for me.

Take Reyes if it fits with your schedule. Extremely accommodating teacher that's passionate about the subject and truly wants you to succeed. SO many extra credit opportunities (nonstop). A bit of a chaotic style of teaching that grows on you, and his exams reflect what he lectures on. Would undoubtedly take him again if he taught 130.

Reyes is a great professor overall. His lectures can feel a bit fast-paced and overwhelming at times, but they are easy to adjust to and he provides extra resources if you missed something. Be prepared and willing to take notes and work with others to study. He is very generous with extra credit and clearly cares for student success.

Professor Reyes is an amazing oceanography professor. Everyday, I had something I looked forward that just drove me to come to class everyday! My favorite part was going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with my friends for an extra credit field, I'll never forget that! This professor gives you so much extra credit! He's wonderful!

Take Reyes for Bio 131. One of the kindest professors I've ever met, is genuinely so passionate about teaching. On some level, it almost felt like my hand was being held the whole time; he's really on top of you to be on time/turn in stuff/study the materials/etc. Offers SO much extra credit, and has really fun lecture.

Professor Reyes was one of the best professors I have had. He actually wants his students to do good in the class, offers good office hours/ tutoring. Also offers extra credit. His class isnt the easiest and its easy to get overwhelmed but he is there for you the whole time.

I took OCEAN-101 with Reyes to satisfy a GE req and it ended up becoming the best class I took at DVC because of how much he cares about his students. Make sure to attend all of his lectures as they cover what will be on the tests. He often hosted study sessions before his tests at which he would guide his students through the study guides.

Professor Reyes is absolutely amazing, he is so down to earth and he wants you to learn and do well in his class. He does everything that he can to make sure you pass. I adore him, hes so sweet, as a professor and as a person. TAKE HIM! He makes bio extra fun and you get to go on field trips. But, don't take advantage of him or be mean to him!!

If you have the ability to take this class, take it.

131 is very content-heavy, labs are LONG, it's a lot of work, he wants you to do your best. Exams are hard due to content load. Be prepared to put in work in ANY of his classes - bio isn't easy. Don't take him if you don't want to work for your grade or complain about a bad grade when you slacked off. He's really fun and amazing, thank you Reyes!
