Extremely hard teacher DO NOT TAKE him if you want to get a easy A Pro: interesting teacher make class fun Con: test are extremely hard and grade paper harshly. Beware on taking his class
Professor Rose is the hardest professor I've had at TCC. But he's by far the best. His class is tough, and he's demanding of his students, but you WILL learn how to think. He's super funny, too. If you want an easy grade don't take him. He taught me more in American Lit. than I learned in all my english classes combined.
He's an awesome teacher. Best professor I've had at TCC. Class is really hard, but worth it at the end. He really cares about his students, but don't be lazy or you will definitely fail.
Definitely different than most professors, but he was great. Really makes you think, his tests are hard, and his grading is strict, but if you want to learn, definitely take him. If you expect the answers without working, he's not the professor for you.
Professor Rose is very Helpful. i've learned more in his english classes then i have all 3 years i have attended T.C.C you can tell he cares about the well-being of his students also.i reccomend him to everybody.
I found this guy to be pretentious and overwhelming. I understand this is college and critical thinking is the end goal, but there's a point when your class is so hard especially at a JUNIOR COLLEGE level that it doesn't do anything but hinder your students especially the ones just taking the course because they need the credit.
If you value your education and want to actually learn something definitely take his class. He was extremely understanding of students and alters his tests/assignments to fit the individual class. This isn't a class you can miss or be lazy in; if you want an easy A, you don't deserve to be taught by him. Awesome teacher, down to earth, tons of fun!
The absolute best teacher I have ever had in my (nearly complete) college experience. His class is very difficult, but in a way that truly challenges you to do better. His lectures are engaging and intelligent, but he was always willing to embellish and work with you. Strict grading, especially on papers, but very fair and flexible with workload.
He has got to be the best teacher I have ever had. The way he teaches pulls you in and captivates you. There are reading assignments, but if you read to read the material instead of just for the quiz you'll be fine. When it comes to the reviews for the midterm and final, make sure to really study and you'll make it through the greatest class ever.
Eccentric and lively. I looked forward to his class mainly for all the funny class discussions and knowledgeable lectures. However, this class was a beating in terms of time spent studying for it. You'll learn lots from this class, but not much that pertains to actual writing or composition. If you are willing to learn, he will be willing to teach.
Difficult class, but worth the effort. Study hard and read the story a few times to understand. He teaches well and expects a lot. Overall, a good professor.
Mr. Rose is the best teacher I have ever had. His class was also the hardest! But, something about the way he teaches us, makes you actually want to learn and study to do good in it! I recommend if you are willing to learn, if not stay out!!!! Like my class only had about 10 students at the end of the semester because everyone else gave up! lol
Professor Rose is my favorite instructor to date. His passion for teaching is inspiring. He holds his students to a very high degree of responsibility. His course is very hard, but is aimed to actually teach you how to learn. If your looking for an easy A look somewhere else, if you actually want to learn how to write Professor Rose is your man!
Professor Rose is a great teacher! If you're looking for an easy class to skate by this semester... he is NOT the guy you would want to take! However, I went into the semester wanting an easy A and ended up working my butt off in his class. On the upside I learned so much from him and truly enjoyed his class. I WILL be taking him for ENGL 1302!!!
I took this class at UTA & he was definitely one of my toughest professors. He grades papers VERY harsh & we had a lot of pop quizzes. However, he is more than willing to help with anything, & extremely knowledgeable about English. Even if you do not pass the class, your writing is sure to improve. Be prepared to work hard for an A or B.
He is intimidating at the beginning of the semester but he softens up after the first few weeks. He is super funny and his lectures are awesome. I learned a lot from this course. It is challenging but he will definitely work with you to make sure you succeed. If you want a blow off class this is not that but I definitely recommend him.
Professor Rose is a bit intimidating at first and when he says his class is tough he means it, but if you stick it out you wont be sorry. Learned so much more then composition from him. He made me a better student. Buy the book, study hard, come prepared for a quiz, and enjoy the funny yet amazing lectures. TAKE GOOD NOTES!
Brandon Rose, just happens to be the best professor I have ever taken! He loves doing what he does, he makes you work for it but in the end it is worth it. you will come out learning and retaining the knowledge he is teaching you! very hilarious, if you like a challenge take ROSE
If you are someone who misses class often. Than this is not a class for you. Professor Rose was the toughest teacher I've ever had. He is also the best teacher I've ever had. I can see myself taking another one of his classes next year. If you give 100 percent you will pass. Just don't give up and prove to him you want to learn. You wont regret it.
One of the few legit classes I've taken at TCC. My time and money was so worth it. I truly appreciate the knowledge. Dissect all the readings and take good notes and you will be fine. Note: This is a class for those who are there to learn, not for those looking for an easy A.
Im glad I got this class with him. I learned a lot and my writing has improved. Are you looking to improve your writing skills? This is the class. Are you looking for an easy A? Not the class. He's is tough but fair grader. Challenging class, it will get the writer out of you if you don't slack it.
Professor Rose is amazing. His class is difficult but worth it. I never missed he class because I enjoyed being there so much. In his class you really need to be on top of your work, or you will see the impact it has on your grade. I would definitely recommend his class. Best teacher I've taken at TCC.
Professor Rose is seriously one, if not, the best professor I have taken! He doesn't just hand out As like that but don't let that scare you! He is hilarious and makes class fun! He won't let you fail if he sees that you really want to pass, he won't give you an easy grade for just trying but he cares about his students and is always there to help!
Brandon Rose is the best English instructor I have ever had. He really engages the class, and I was never disappointed by the class discussions. There was always something crazy and funny that we discussed in class. He does expect a lot of commitment to the course, but it is definitely worth it. I feel that I learned something outside of writing.
He's as wonderful a professor as any I've taken in my college career. Very challenging, but it's an amazing class.
Took last summer and by far one of the hardest teachers that I have ever taken. But I made it through this difficult course and gained a lot of respect for prof Rose. This guy is the W E B DuBois of literature. If your looking for an easy A he is probably not for you
DO NOT TAKE HIM! sure he makes the lectures interesting but that's the only positive thing I can say about this class. His tests are extremely hard as well as his quizzes. He posts assignments way later than he says he is going to. He constantly cancels class. And he doesn't even give reviews for his exams. I'm a straight A student by the way.
Not sure I would've made it through this semester without Mr. Rose. None of my other professors have ever been as willing to help, or listen, when life got real hard. His class is super difficult, kind of different, but it's worth it 100%.
Professor Rose is amazing! Those who like to miss class and be on their phones do not stand a chance. He is a great professor and and puts other professors to shame by just the way he educates us. No need for books but do not let that fool you. Best professor I've ever had. If you're committed to your education then he's the man! I recommend him!
Amazing teacher but not at all easy If you want a challenge, take him. Tests are crazy tough. It's possible to make a 100 though TAKE GOOD NOTES Very conceptual, & no slides or notes, so hard for a visual learner. Quizzes EVERY class. Only thing was he cancelled half of the classes in the semester. Very disappointing. Wanted to learn more from him.
Professor Rose is hilarious and great at his profession. He cares about his students and gives extra opportunities to improve your grade so take notes!!!! I would have taken him for all of my English classes if possible. He's truly one of TCCD's best!!!!!! Take notes, record lectures to review and be prepared for red herrings (wink wink)!!!!!
He's beyond funny, and it makes class a treat. Very difficult quizzes (every single day) and pretty tough exams. He does prepare you if you pay attention in class. My favorite class at TCC definitely!
If you actually want to learn, Prof. Rose is a great teacher to take. I think he cares more about his students' success than any teacher here. His writing assignments are very challenging, but he works with you as much as it takes to understand them. I had thought about transferring from TCC, but his class convinced me to stay. Highly recommend!
Hardest professor I have! He has a lot of challenging discussion. Not an easy PPoint test kind of class either. You have to hold yourself accountable, but he's the BEST at making class interesting. TCC needs more of Prof. Rose types.
He is very smart about his profession, but he makes you feel stupid constantly by the way he talks to you. Terrible about posting grades on time and takes forever to reply to emails. I will say he makes the lectures fun because he likes to joke around, but that's about the only good thing about the class. Would not take him again.
Hard class. Doesn't lead us by the hand, which I appreciate as a non-traditional student. Really strict grading standards and he's blunt about you taking notes and bettering yourself so if you want high school stuff he's not the teacher you should take at TCC. Watch out for the quizzes, tho! Best prof. at NW.
His papers are really challenging, but he literally guides you along during the semester to the best answers. No textbook, which is awesome, but also rarely posts PP notes. He does let you use a recorder if you ask. Get used to oral quizzes, they're no joke. Cool dude.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!! my experience in class. Criticizes professors & students papers on the overhead so we don't make the same mistakes. (FERPA). Late daily. Doesn't return emails. Cancels class. Posts grades week of finals. Expects students to interpret all readings. Curses. Very demeaning. Very arrogant steams from low self esteem. hard tests
Read. A lot. When we wanted to meet for an additional class to review for the final, he took the time to do it. His term paper questions seem hard until you talk with him. Don't take him if you want an easy class, he's hard, but really a nice guy. He gives you a chance at the end of the semester to earn some extra credit, too, if you can draw.
I honestly thought he the most strict prof I had all year but he's been the best too. Very different though. His tests ain't no joke, and he actually treats you like a person and holds you accountable. If you don't pay attention you fall behind. I liked how he questioned me to challenge beliefs (Midterm and Final are exactly what he tells you.)
BEST CLASS I've had at TCC. Hardest class. No books though! He seriously will give a pop quiz at any moment.
Awesome teacher, and that's fact.
It doesn't get better than Rose at TCC. He's legitimately the best professor at any campus. But hard. Really hard. And so much reading.
His class was very fun, he gave examples of real life situations to connect to the stories. He is a tough quizzer and grader. Beware of questions, every question follows another question. you must pay attention the the smallest details in every story. He will teach you to read between the lines, it is amazing what he can inter prate from few words
Rose definitely wanted us to think beyond what we already know. Grades writing pretty harshly, but has great explanations and feedback. I understand language in a whole new way now, and I'm taking him again in the fall semester.
His Maymester class is sooo hard!! But I'm positive that no one else at TCC cares more about actually educating us as students. Super witty, funny, and his exams come with reviews. So much different and greater all around than my other English Professors here that it's laughable.
He's AWESOME!! I could NOT have asked for a better teacher in this place. So down to earth and funny that it was surprising to me and other students. HARD quizzes and exams.
HARDEST TEACHER EVER! Best his class is a blast. And I learned a ton. Cool dude.
He exploits the failing school system in the U.S. He works relentlessly to do what he can and actually teach his students - not just literature, but for life. One thing I really enjoyed about his class is the fact that he makes his students question what they think they know. He gets entire class to participate. It is a demanding but great class.
I'm a mechanical engineering student and decided to take a maymester to get an easy A for literature. Not what I expected. It was difficult but worth it. I wish my engineering professors had the passion that professor Rose has. He is truly the best professor I have ever taken.
Took him for summer II dropped him on the 4th day. Really awesome as a person but EXTREMELY HARD.
I've only had him for a week, and I can sincerely say that there's no one who compares to him at TCC. Professor Rose is a surprising person. Don't let his funny charm fool you-- he's as smart and as hard as they come. I do really like that he considers our cost as students and he doesn't have textbooks. And he's already challenged me to truly think
AWESOME teacher. That's a fact. Tons of reading and very thorough paper assignments, gives quizzes on the daily, and a midterm and final that are super hard. But a life-changing kind of class. Readings and lectures were my favorite parts, aside from one-on-one conferences where I learned even more. He's a natural.
YES. This guy needs to teach all of my classes. So hard but so worth it.
Great Teacher! Really involves us in class lectures and is really funny!
He's really daunting and intimidating at first, but he's actually a pretty great guy! Funny as can be. Class is so hard. Be prepared, don't slack, and he'll notice it. Tests are hard but he explains all you need to know. Best I've had at Tarrant County.
Tough teacher - had to many things going on and he wasn't willing to work with ya - so I dropped
Professor Rose is the BEST.. he is hard, yes but that's only because he makes you realize how much you don't know. He is willing to help you became the best writer in every area of your life. to pass the class you need to read before class because the pop quizzes come from the reading.. he gives a review for the exams. study it and you will be FINE
Rose's class is the best I've ever taken. Worth every bit of stress. Fantastic educational experience.
He is the worst. Makes fun of students and straight up says he will make fun of students papers upfront in a projector. Class is ridiculous because he tries to be funny but it just plain awkward.
Professor Rose is not most teachers at TCC. He is a personable guy who cares, for sure, and surprisingly sarcastic. You will hate his quizzes. But his class is amazing! No one seems to care more about his students. Midterm is brutal. He's funny! No textbook, either! Take notes EVERTYTHING! He will outwit you, and it's awesome. Best here.
He's about as great as teachers get, anywhere. Continually challenging, surprises in lectures always, and demanding exams. TCC could only hope for more of Dr. Rose. Baller. (STUDY.)
He is the sort of professor you want for all your classes! The work isn't a lot and it really isn't hard. You just have to stay on top of your reading which aren't hard either. Great guy, hilarious, his lectures will honestly make you think in a good way! I would take this class over and over if I could, worth it.
Professor Rose is the man !! By far one of the best at TCC !! I really enjoyed that his class was always interesting ! If you need any comp classes or American literature this guy is truly exceptional. Really cares about his students, real genuine. Be prepared to laugh.
I absolutely adore this man. He's an a awesome person. Class is always a deep breath and hard quiz, but worth it. Reading so much. But No textbook either. Dr. Rose's advice about life and rhetoric is my favorite part. He gives world examples and talks to us like people rather than students. 100%
he does always show up for class. He missed more class than the students. Will send you an email saying something has come up, blah, blah
No one at TCC like Prof Rose! His class is stressful and he's intimidating, but I actually had a TCC class that I learned in, which is rare. He's not a BB teacher either, worth talking to face to face. So smart and witty it's crazy. DEF!! taking him in the Fall for American Lit. Hardest grader ever, though
The readings are really in depth but Dr. Rose has a way of talking about them in life scenarios. He expects us to be prepared, the bottom line for him, and he will quiz you always. Nice to not buy a textbook! I'm really happy I took him because my 1301 compared to him stunk. Rose talks fast and straight on point so notes were tough for me at first.
I learned more from Professor Rose in class than I learned from anyone. He not only teaches you about literature, he draws a parallel to life. I am someone who has zero reading comprehension but he challenged me to get better. I would definitely recommend him as the ENGLISH teacher to go to because he is very knowledgeable and you will love it.
I had Professor Rose for Comp 1 and his tests and quizzes were difficult. However, his lectures were fantastic with him engaging us by asking us questions, being hilarious, and relating the content to the real world. He is a tough grader but does also understand that his class is difficult. I learned a lot and would definitely take him again.
Very tough on students and their ideas at times, then the next minute laughing and joking. Quizzes are hard because they can be over anything, but if you take good notes you will be ok. At the end of the semester he give you plenty of chances to earn a much better grade than you thought. I really liked his lecture style but sometimes it was hard.
Funny and changes the calendar sometimes to help us learn ideas we had hard times grasping. My classmates and I noticed also that he can explain anything in how it relates to your own life. He always seemed to ask me about how my semester and classes go. Readings were kinda confusing to me but he took time to explain everything. Super experience.
His class is unexpectedly difficult. Way better than my 1301. Wish I had taken him then, but I hope to take him in fall 19. Tests come with helpful reviews but the exams are still crazy tough if you don't take notes the entire semester. Awesome real life examples. I learned to believe in myself because of his no-nonsense honesty with me and others.
He's incredible. Couple peers didn't care for his style, but most us found it challenging and refreshing that he was demanding and had no time for students who are lazy or expected handouts from thirteenth-grade. His quizzes can be over anything, so better read, take notes and expect the unexpected. Papers are HARD. But really cares and is unique.
He's great at lectures and making the class as fun as possible by making you laugh. You will have a lot of reading for homework but if your on top of that you'll do good on the quizzes. Also, take notes for each class you will be quizzed over information from previous class time.
He is TERRIBLE!! Do not take his class if you want to pass. It doesn't matter how hard you try he will set you up for failure regardless. He gets pleasure out of arguing with his students as if this is a debate class. He is unorganized and has no structure for his class. He enjoys making you feel dumb so just keep quite and listen.
In his 1302 class and it's really hard! He's always challenging and lectures are super involved. No textbook, lots of reading. If you comment in class, then you should be ready to defend ideas. Essay prompts also really difficult sometimes but Rose explains them in detail if you ask. If you want a free grade don't take him at all! Awesome teacher!
Took this class at another school last fall semester and have to again with him now. Much better. He's a very smart young man and I already have learned more than I have thought I might have with TCC. Class moves quick but he makes time go by fast. I understand now why good notes matter. Very tricky questions that make you think. Hard test! Quizzes
If you think this is gonna be an easy class its not don't plan on missing class because you wont pass he will make fun of his students and his test are the hardest no multiple choice, doesn't put in grades until the end of the semester good luck
Professor Rose is a no-nonsense teacher. Open short answer quizzes every day over your reading assignments, not reading is bad. Midterm's the most challenging ever. Sarcastic and blunt with students, but already talked to me many times outside class about not giving up or dropping. Quiz grades updated on BB weekly. Very funny! Never misses class.
You have to read!! no books. Prof Rose has a hard class and the writing assignments seem complicated. Follow the prompts and you'll do fine. He will help you revise ideas and understand how to create better sentences. The quizzes are planned and pop so you have to stay on notes and prepared. Don't talk without knowing how to back up what you said!!
I think Professor Rose is a great teacher and he tries to help a lot. At first he came off as crazy strict difficult to handle but everything makes sense in end. Most quizzes are five questions - you need to read def close to pass. Midterm almost all writing and NO multiple choice! Helpful reviews. We had three essays, a term paper too. Sweet guy.
All very challenging about technical writing and how to learn it. Fun class but demanding. Nice to remove some assignments based on our class not grasping immediately, which I never had a professor do. He's willing to tell if you are not working to your potential. Quiz grades matter most to grade. Working and grading until end but worth the stress.
Rose doesn't use a textbook, and some readings are hard to understand at first. You need to print the open resources he talks about and save them. Rose is way more understanding than other professors even though he seems like he's not so if you struggle or have life stuff happen just talk to him and he will help. Exams are the hardest part for him.
Pro. Rose is not an easy professor. He is blunt, sarcastic, and really makes you put in the effort, but he also cares. His quizzes aren't hard if you keep up with the readings and he is always willing to talk through whatever problems you may be having. The exams themselves are critical-thinking, so study! Friday class can be a little disorganized.
Rose cares about his students, doesn't hold back from honesty. If you don't try hard enough, he'll tell you. He explains things better than other professors I have had because of how he can relate to students. You should expect quizzes all the time, and his exams are harder than any of I've had. But if study like he demands and read you'll do fine.
If you are used to easy classes he is the wrong individual for you to enroll in! I'm surprised by Professor Rose's mix of challenging and humor. Keep up with readings and quizzes are less hard but you have to study notes regularly. He won't let you slack even grades our notebooks because we need a textbook and other posted essays. He truly cares!
OK. So if you are considering attending ENGL2311. Look for someone else. My class comes from 30 students to 13 students before the drop-date. Quizzes every day and a lot of nonsense reading. He demands high challenging and heavy testing. You buy a book and you read it yourself. He doesn't even lecture any of the lessons in the book. Be prepared!
Principle assignments that are writing based butf very heavy reading in Rose's class. If you want to take someone who is easy then do not take Professor Rose but if you want to learn then def take him. There's a midterm that's hard but if you pay attention you will do good on it. Lectures are funny and make you think. A challenge but well worth it.
I thought I would never make it out of this man's class but I started to talk with him outside of our class meeting and everything started to get easier. You don't have to buy a book but you will print many many readings and some I found to be super hard to read. He will give you quizzes every day so you have to keep up. If you don't you will fail.
I spend a chunk of my time working on his class assignments, mostly reading but also writing more critically than before. If you communicate with him, which can seem intimidating but he is actually easier to talk to than you will think, he helps! Midterm and quizzes are crazy tough. Be responsible for your own learning is what he says and means.
Professor Rose expects A LOT out of students but is also very helpful and easy to talk to out of class. You will have to read many articles about technical writing and from the book. Don't keep up you fall behind. Demands that you are prepared and have read. His assignments are easier than reading, very real world. He always responds to your email.
If you want real life situations used as examples and being able to have connected conversations take Professor Rose! He is a very genuine guy and wants to see you succeed. Pay attention in class and DO NOT SKIP! Essays are a must and you will want to make sure they have been proofread. He only wants the best for you in the end.
he does not answer emails and he does not care if you not founding the assignment that he did not post( 5 MIN) quiz 4 of them each week. online class 2311. I don't recommend it to anyone. I don't want to give him one star because he does not deserve it.
Prof. Rose was really great when I had him a few years ago. I wish I could have him again, since I am working on my master's thesis. That is the kind of person he is. He will help if he knows you are willing to work hard. He is passionate about his students that want to learn. I was not one of his best students but I stuck in there and worked.
Doesn't lecture, doesn't condense material, you just read the book and try to answer his quiz questions that would more accurately called riddles. Avoid at all costs.
Maybe good in real life, but his online class is way too difficult and confusing. No syllabus was provided, at all. Other than the automatic grading of quizzes, he doesn't grade anything until months after due. His quizzes contain his own written questions that aren't easy to understand, along with a 5-8 minute time limit on those quizzes.
His class is reading dense and he has lots of hard quizzes. He tells you up front that it is a must reading class, and that's true. You have to work hard. Four major assignments all kind of lengthy but very helpful for business. Quizzes and tests are timed. Analysis is important but he will explain things really good in emails which has saved me.
Exams are rigourous and long but gives good reviews for them and explains how to apply course readings to questions. SO MUCH to read in his class so prioritizing notes helped. Take the annotations cause it's in depth but Professor Rose is awesome at explaining them. He was available to answer questions always and responded real quick to my emails.
Professor Rose is surely one of the demanding and complicated teachers that I've had in college. That said, he's also the most honest and open. The "principal" assignments are career based back to back. Professor Rose will help with them if you ask. Truthfully we read and read and his quizzes are seriously tricky but he's eye opening and responds.
First thought I would drop his class because of how hard it is. Our readings are heavy and sometimes foreign but ones on exams Professor Rose puts in words I understand and situations I been in. Quizzes regularly, they're mostly only five questions but you'll fail if you dont read close. Rose helps but don't give hand outs, and is honest and funny.
I have learned a lot in this class even though the content was difficult. One thing I do not like is how uncommunicative he is. He does not respond to emails in a timely manner. Also, there is no syllabus, so I didnt not know what was expected. If I had known what I was getting myself into, I would have taken the class with a different professor.
Class was very difficult partly because professor Rose made me figure things out on my own. The text we used is helpful and the added reading files are long and sometimes complicated but very helpful. I actually learned in his class unlike some other TCC ones. He changed the schedule to help assignments. I liked Rose but he does not make it easy.
Professor Rose's class had a lot of reading and a lot of quizzes. Comparative literature and theory. Readings were difficult but Zoom lectures help immensely. Many quizzes hit or miss for me, at least one question on every quiz is a deceiving one. Beware that Dr. Rose is a hard grader for most things, especially the Case Studies (3) and exams (2).
Don't take in summer. Project every week and does not do things when he says he will. Doesn't unlock everything at once and expects a lot of extra reading on top of what is in the textbook. If this is the only class you're going to take, you should be fine. Don't do it if you're taking other classes as well. Not worth it.
Probably hardest class I took in a summer. Theres reading all week, a major writing project every week, plus quizzes and final exam. Discussion boards are long. If you arent used to summer class then Rose's will be very hard. Extremely helpful--my meetings with him changed class for me. Rose is hard, expects you work, but he's fantastic and nice!
