Auditing book is a compilation of scenarios. Class is composed of discussions book case scenarios. Different from all other classes I've taken. You have to do independent research to answer the case questions. HW is done individually & groups, w each group assigned to present one question. Teacher is lenient on hw if you complete it rightwrong.

Current events get you extra credit. 1 project that is fun, and he doesn't waste your time by making you learn bs useless theoriesrules. Two tests, and questions taken from homework.

Professor Tran is very interested in your doing well in the class. But not just that, he is interested in your doing well in your career, even offering job advice and resume writing help. I would definitely take another class of his.

Teacher is great, but I didn't like the book for auditing. It was a collection of companies that committed illegalunethical procedures and we had to discuss in class. The discussions were great, but just didn't know how to research the questions in the book since all you got was a story with questions.

Professor Tran is a CPA. He gives us real life examples that are not taught in the book. Two exams based on homework problems and one group projectpresentation. Take his class if you want to succeed!

His lectures are amazing and funny. He uses Powerpoints but he translates it into something you can understand easily. He uses life examples and his past experiences as a CPA. His grading criteria is clear and he tells you what he expects & what is on the test. Just study, go to class and you'll do very well.

Lectures are FUN because every week we present the homework problems to the class and he explains EVERY problem! Believe it or not, it really helps when it come to exams and to study effectively. Do the homework, attend class, and you will do just fine on the exams. He is very straight forward about what topics are most important to learn.

There were a lot of group projects that I felt detracted from focusing on the material throughout the semester. There was a group presentation every week as well as a group project towards the end of the semester. An interesting class.

Great at applying information you learn to how you will use it in the real world. He is great at explaining difficult concepts in simple terms so they are easy to remember. Grade is based on 3 exams, online homework/quizzes, and a group presentation He is an amazing professor that only teaches things that you will need to use in the future. Tran is a great professor and makes this difficult subject easy and also teaches good life skills for business majors. An A is attainable but this is a hard class. Show Tran respect, attend class, and study and you should do fine. Grading was very slow imo, but there are only 3 tests. Also about 2% of your grade can be increased with extra credit.

Was dreading Cost Accounting due to friends saying it was so hard. Tran helped make the difficult subject matter understandable. While he did veer away from the textbook at times it was to help the students better understand the subject matter. His experiences help students get excited about accounting and set them up for real world situations.

Enjoyed seeing how much Professor Tran loves the subject matter. He has real-world experience with the subject and his stories helped to show the importance of what we were learning. Only used the textbook for homework as lecture slides and exam review were very detailed. Very fair grader as well. Participation is a must!

Tran is the best professor I ever had! I had him for 101A and continue with him for 101B and would not pass without him. What I like the most about Prof Tran is he always explains the why behind the concepts. Always read/skim the chapter before lecture because the textbook explains the how but Prof Tran explains the why. Lots of extra credit! 10 pts for current events and 10 pts for SI! I found SI to be very helpful as the SI leader gave us more practice problems

His class is very straight forward. I have no idea how I passes 101A so I was hesitant to take Tran. I do not regret. Lectures on Tuesdays, practice problems on Thursdays. Ask ask ask. Just finished the summer 6 week 101A, which was a challenging course at the beginning, but you just need to put in the time and study the material before and after lecture and it will be easy. I'm glad I took it with Mr. Tran. He repeats the important info over and over again and is always willing to clarify

Summer 101A was intense but passed by very quickly and it was actually fun. Time passed by fast during lecture. HW is tedious but is easy and is great practice for the exam. Take detailed notes during lecture, study what Tran covers during exam reviews and you're set! Don't miss lecture or you'll regret it. His lectures are easier to understand

Mr. Tran made accounting fun and easy to learn. 3 exams with 4-5 chapters each. FInal is not cumulative which is super nice! Project was very easy and interesting. attend lectures! read textbook for prelectures but other than that, lectures were more helpful. extra credits boosted my grade by 1-2%, whcih turned my B into an A. laptops are allowed during lecture but i recommend physically writing the journal entries/financial statemetns so you get the hang of it. tran was generous on partial credits for exams

Took this class to fulfill my business admin minor but Tran converted me to major in accounting! Waiting to take 101B spring of next year since his fall 101B doesn't fit my schedule ¬ willing to take any other prof. I took professor Tran both ACCT 101 and 102. He is amazing and simplifies accounting. Attendance is mandatory. You're required to finish a practice problem before signing out. There are 10 pts max of extra credit if you go to SI or provide news. One group project (you don't pick the members) and paper. Homework is online with unlimited tries.

Although this was an online course, you can tell Prof Tran care about students. He always posts announcements and updates. Grades consist of weekly assignments, discussions (VERY FUN TOPICS!), project and 2 tests. Hoping I can take more of his classes, especially on campus. Wish I knew about him earlier. He is really good at lecturing. He gives the real-life examples and how to apply the accounting into the real world. He uses some simple terms that students would understand. I took 101A with Mr. Tran last semester and enjoyed his class. When COVID hit, he made the transition to online easy and showed how much he cared for us. Although 101B is online this sem, he still managed to make the class enjoyable and sends out announcements/reminders. Exams arent bad. Just follow the review ppts. Hw can be long but helps a lot

I took him during the pandemic. The class is based on 3 tests, 1 group project, homework. I am bad at tests so that was the hard part for me, but if your good at teaching yourself and tests you'll pass! He also offers an unmandatory class, which is a little helpful. To be honest, I think if I take him in an offline class, I can do better. I studied almost all things by myself but that doesn't mean he didn't help us when we need. He replied to your concern fast and gave us some chances for EC. His exam has both multiple choices and work out. You should practice your HW carefully if you want to pass this class.

The class was online and asynchronous. But professor lectured on Zoom and posted the recording which helped alot, especially before exams. Spent alot of hours on hw but it helped on the workout exam problems. Tutoring sessions were helpful and extra credit is offered if you attend

Professor Tran is a spectacular professor IN PERSON. He openly states that he dislikes online, so I would avoid him for that. But I took him in person this spring and he is a great professor, balances lectures and practice problems very well, keeps the class engaged, he loves teaching about any business even outside the scope of class. Best professor I've had. He's not only straightforward during lectures but also pretty creative on some chapters and structures the weeks where 1 day is lecture then the other is just practice. Exams are also easily structured where multi-choice is from the textbook and free response is based on what he taught you. Follow his words and you'll pass!

This class is not for lazy people. If you want to succeed, you need to do the readings before class, practice workout problems, and complete all homework on time. Great guy :)

Took his 101A class so the transition to 101B wasn't that bad. The workout stuff is usually simple algebra which made HW and exams really doable. He also continues to frequently provide EC opportunities he sees thematically fit during the time of season so make the most out of it. Heed his words and ways and you'll pass with flying colors.

He was an amazing instructor. He has a really impressive resume & background. Each chapter has 3 short assignments to it. For homework, you get unlimited checks on McGrawill. There are only 3 exams, so there is no midterm/final. There's 1 group project that is very easy. His class meets twice a week, he lectures then does practice problems.

Such an incredible Professor! I had such an amazing time in Professor Trans class. He has a very successful background in the business and accounting world, so he has a lot of insight on the subject. His lectures are very interesting and only holds 3 exams the whole semester. He wants you to succeed as he offers a lot of advice. Take him if you can

Professor Tran is a knowledgeable instructor with a lot of industry experience. His lectures are engaging and he offers great advice for success. I found Unstuck AI and the free textbook really helpful for study prep. Expect challenging exams, but the class is doable with discipline.

I've taken Tran three times now. Even though I have failed his class once, I can say that he is undoubtedly the most caring and respectful teacher I have ever had. He made me change my major from marketing to accounting. If you take good notes and come to lectures, you'll be fine. Take in person only; you will not pass online. BTW he's a swiftie!

Take this class in person if possible; however, online is definitely possible. It wasn't that difficult, although in person would've made it easier to learn if you're a more hands on approach. All the needed content is there on canvas to pass the class and as long as you stay on top of ALL the homework, you'll be fine.

Definitely one of my favorite classes. Had him both for 101A and B. Some people have said Managerial is harder, but I actually liked it a bit more. He always gives extra credit, so take the opportunity. With complete honesty, I truly liked the lectures and lessons we have done. Definitely your best choice if going into accounting.

Great professor, he's a stand up guy. If you like accounting and you like the subject, this is the man you want to take. I'm not good at it but I'm sure many people love him, great professor all around. He's chill, but please study for the exams you have in this class. Shame I just hate accounting now, would take again if I liked accounting.

Professor Tran is very passionate about what he teaches and seems to really care about the success of his students. He went out of his way to help plan events for the students like bringing in Deloitte speakers to talk to his classes. There are well prepared study guides for each of his exams, and no mysteries going into them. Great course!
