Dont take him. Quizzes every week with only 2 or 3 questions, so if you miss 1 question its impossible to pass. BORING lectures. Really intelligent man but has no idea how to bring it down to an understandable level. Notes on board come directly from the book. Office hours are frustrating because he makes you feel stupid if you don't know something
Save yourself the pain and take someone else.
Calculus is no easy class, but this teacher doesn't make it any easier. He knows the material well, but fails to make his students understand it. His teaching method is tell me how to solve this, and I'll tell you it's wrong but won't give you the right answer. If you take this class you're pretty much on your own. Save yourself the stress.
This guy is really smart. Other than that he is not worth the time. Quizzes are impossible to pass because they are only two questions. Lectures will put you to sleep. He also will make you feel very dumb whenever you don't know something. Save yourself and pick a different professor.
Save yourself the embarrassment, stress, and frustration. He gives impossible tests and quizzes and expects you to be able to see mathematical manipulations with the efficiency that he does.
He is very intelligent but is difficult to understand. A lot of reading and homework. Office hours are somewhat helpful. Cares about students. VERY difficult class, but it is curved. Otherwise, no one would pass.
Worst. Class. Of. My. Life. The quizzes are impossible. The man won't answer your questions, only reminds you that math is an "invitation to analysis." (wtf?) This man will make you feel like you do not know ANYTHING! Thank goodness it was curved...
Honestly, there was only one good thing about taking this class -- it was curved. As everyone else said, he is very smart, but expects you to see things the way he does. I took AP CALC in highschool and was still lost. I've never had a math class where I have had to write so much. There are definitely easier and better calc teachers.
Honestly, it's not as bad as everone says. Yes, class is frusterating, but he's a new teacher, give him a break. if you end up getting him, it's not the end of the world. It's curved, just do your best and show him that you are trying your hardest. No use in altering your life to avoid this class.
If you like proofs then this is your guy but if not then avoid. Tests are so hard and so are quizzes. He is very smart but only knows how to teach it how he knows it, not very good at explaining to students. He is helpful if you take the time to meet with him. Only plus was a big curve, class average would equal a C.
The guy really isn't bad, just hard to understand at times. The quizzes are pretty tough but they come straight from the homework so if you do that you'll do fine on the quizzes. The tests however are nearly impossible, but it's not the end of the world because everyone else in the class will do equally as poor. If you love calc, this is your guy.
Dear lord baby jesus. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He is a terrible teacher, his examples are bad, and his tests totally do NOT relate to the material covered in class. Everyone in my class failed every single one of his exams. Poor poor poor teacher, do not take him.
I thought he was a great teacher. He's really smart so sometimes he's hard to understand, but he's still new and is getting better at teaching. Do the HW; the quizzes come right from problems in the book. Also the class is curved, so don't worry too much about bad grades.
he's a really good teacher, dont listen to what other ppl said, thats because they never pay attention to this class, hes very helpful during office hours also he loves questions in class. dont be embarrassed when you have questions, i have to do your hw for test and quiz. i mean, come on this is a 4 credit class. dont expect to not do hw and get A
If you do not like math then he is not for you. Quizzes are short so if you miss one then you pretty much fail. Avoid him at all costs.
This class was HARD. He is a very intelligent man and is passionate about math, but he is so smart that he doesn't seem to know how to explain things in an understandable way. Quizzes are worded in an...interesting way, so I advise going to his office hours often.
Hardest math class I have ever taken!! He teaches about the theoretical side of math rather than the practical side and it's really hard. Quizzes and tests are impossible. I had a C but ended up with an A because he has to curve so much because everyone fails. Do all homework and go to class. Going to his office hours did not help at all though
Super hard! Was experimental class and not 100-level appropriate at all. Brant was super confusing and should only be teaching higher level classes. On the plus side, he gives a large curve and there is no textbook. Avoid him but if you don't/ can't best of luck!
He's really sweet and you can tell he cares about you. Like everyone has said he's really hard but he curves the crap out of everything.
very hard teacher. don't take him. he questions his ability to teach all the time, because a the students are always correcting him. he's a very hard grader as well. his test are very hard and he's very unclear
Very helpful, loves questions. He does like proofs, but that IS math, not plug-in-chug. I had to think in this class, do my homework, and READ. My beef with class is the textbook, not enough examples. Sometimes he doesn't know the class is struggling, just swallow your pride and ask a question, chances are someone else has the same question
This guy is the worst. Didn't help me understand calculus at all. I would ask a question and he would say the same thing he said the first time around. He lost me completely after the second test
Difficult class to begin with, Jones made it harder. Course grade was 25% each homework and 3 tests. Homework was graded by collecting one problem from individual homework assignments and grading for correctness. Tests were nearly impossible (class average hovered around an F) but huge curve at the end. Don't recommend.
Prof Jones is a great professor! Difficult class to begin but he is extremely helpful! Just do your homework correctly and study! Test are hard but he grades fairly!
He is REALLY hard, but he is super helpful in the office hour, though. The average for each test is around 55%. He collects homework, and he grades them. He is tough on homework, too. I usually got the homework grade around 5 points out of 12. I aced a lot of tests in Calculus III, but I could not even a scratch a C in his class.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. DO NOT TAKE HIM. HE IS AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!
I am a math major who LOVES calculus but taking his class was painful. He took the fun out of it. He is really nice though and uses the long class to review the HW and answer anyone's questions. Every Friday we have a quiz or midterm on the material and they are usually 4 questions long. He is a weird grader, gives every question an A, B, C or D
Centered around the conceptual side. Proofs are the basis of his entire class. Quizzes weren't bad but tests were near impossible. Lectures were straight forward but tests were much harder than anything he seemed to cover in class.
Brant Jones is a nice individual, but he teaches as if we are already familiar with the material. Proofs everywhere. Reading quizzes almost every class, homework due almost every class, 3 midterms averaging around 60%, final. Constantly overhear fellow students discussing how hard it is and already planning to retake it with another professor.
Avoid!! His class is VERY challenging! Got the worst tests grades of my life. He will definitely make you work for your grade. I poured so much time and effort into this class (more than any other class) and it was my worst grade. Also, lectures don't make any sense and just end in complete confusion. Not helpful at all if you're lost
Nice guy but not when he's grading. He will help if you ask but not many people speak up, just do it. Sometimes he can't tell when the class is struggling and just moves on.
Take 227 with a CS professor if given the option. The class averages range from a D to an F with Prof. Jones. His lectures are rarely clear a helpful, his feedback on the homework isn't helpful either, and the tests are the hardest things I've ever done in my life. Consider waiting a semester to get a better professor instead of taking it with him.
He's a nice guy, but his class is very confusing. You take notes the whole class, hw everyday, and two midterms and a final. So far the midterms average in my class were a C-, no A's. This class is very difficult but i took it for my major, but ended up switching majors. This class may have been the reason why. Take it with a CS prof.
He was very condescending and was very unhelpful in his office hours, probably one of the worst teachers I've had here. Stay away
Brant Jones is a very intelligent man. Too bad being smart and a good teacher are two entirely different things. The course is ridiculously hard. His lectures are confusing. He is unhelpful during office hours and looks down on you for not understanding the material. Tests are REALLY hard. I can't recommend this course to anyone. Avoid at all costs
This professor was very passionate and tried explaining things very well. However, the subject is very difficult to understand and students often times feel confused and discouraged in his class. He offers help in class and office hours, but the class is just very tough.
He keeps you in the dark about your grade until the very end. He curves, because with half my grades in I had a D- and finished the class with a C+. His tests are really hard, and take the concepts a step further than what you did in class. Homework is the same way, and its graded for correctness. Doesn't give enough feedback.
Brant was one of my favorite teachers. The tests are challenging, but nothing terrible. He definitely curves though because I had a B in the class the whole time and ended up with an A. On MWF he taught material and on Tu we could ask questions from the book and you could get extra credit if you went up there and did the question on the board.
Never have any idea what your grade in his class is, a 36% is a low C, but you need a 95% for an A. He stumbles through some of the material but he does a generally good job of explaining it. Gives extra credit on the final exam, but there are only 3 tests including the final.
Brant is a decent professor, but could do a better job at explaining topics. On the plus side, he's very smart and passionate about what he teaches. He will always be there to help you get somewhere.
Professor Jones is very passionate about math and his energy and enthusiasm are contagious. There is a midterm and a final, every tuesday is spent going over the chapter and thursday is spent in groups doing practice problems related to the chapter. There is a project at the end of the year about choosing a math book and presenting it
Flat out this is a VERY hard class. Lectures make no sense and homework is so hard. Homework is worth 40% and both tests are worth 30% each. HW is normally only 2-3 questions but takes hours . He only lectures in class and gets very excited even though NO one knows what's going on. I would absolutely recommend waiting for the CS class.
Super tough class, but Dr. Jones doesn't have a lot of choice about the content. He is super passionate about the material and his excitement is evident. Don't stress about your grade throughout because there is a big curve at the end of the semester. Office hours for sure.
Brant is super energetic, which would be awesome if we understood what was going on. You never know your grade during the semester because of his weird scale and he get super mad if you ask about it. Also, one time I emailed him a question and he actually suggested I just google my question instead of asking for clarification.
Another tag I would've added was "Tests are Tough" because they are. He is very passionate about the content, but unfortunately, a majority of us don't know what's going on. If I were you, take Mata-Toledo for 227. There, I saved you from this disaster.
He is a weird guy but super smart. He will really help you get places but the only way to really understand the content is to practice the homework he assigns you. Even then you probably wont do well on the midterm or final by regular measures but he grades in a weird way so that a 68% is actually a B. Don't take him unless you have too.
The class wasnt bad, and it was fairly easy. Jones can be a bit abrasive at points
We each decided our own assignment weightings at the beginning of the semester. Very challenging material, little feedback.
Be sure to study hard and be able to do the homework problems because the three exams are what make or break you! Nice guy though.
Here is the thing with this teacher, he honestly was awful. But he makes sure everyone gets a C- or higher. Everyone in the class passed. He has a REALLY weird grading system and does not use your grade on Canvas at all. Also his way of teaching is way harder, and the MATH tutoring center couldn't help me. I passed but this class was REALLY hard.
I am currently a Junior at James Madison and through my whole life of education he has to be the worst teacher I have ever had. When i showed up to his office hours for extra help, he laughed and said I deserve the grade I got. I have sent him numerous email with no response ever. If you have him, switch teachers immediately. BTW I was in 155.

This was an awful class from day one. STEER AWAY! He is not understanding to anything that goes on and is not flexible with anything. The classes are boring, and the tests are very difficult. Homework is 20% of your grade, and he is not understanding when the website messes up your answer (which happens a lot). Try to avoid it at all costs.
Terrible math class. Everything is graded and based off an online textbook that does not recognize certain characters when inputing it. He just tells us its not his fault. He skips all the steps when doing examples for the stuff he assumes we already know which he doesn't teach.
An intelligant man, but a godawful teacher. When asking a question, his answer would make me even more confused than I was before. His homework is based off an online textbook that would count you wrong for the most minor imput mistakes and not give you any feedback. AVOID AT ALL COSTS to save your sanity, unless you want to teach yourself calc.
WORST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD. Do yourself a favor and don't take. The whole class is based on an online textbook that never works.
Professor Jones is a very nice & smart man. He has a hard time teaching his students and does not think he is the problem when half the class is failing. Homework heavy, with 3 cumulative tests. Most people skip class but it will only help you if you show up. You can tell towards the end of the semester he started to hear us out. Try to avoid.
Okay, this is something you won't know or expect. I would have given him a 1 rating and a five difficulty but I got an A but had a C- at the end of the semester. He will act like he won't curve or help or extra credit. In all honestly, he curved everyone 2 letter grades up. Trust that you will see the results when the transcript comes out.
Lectures were completely pointless. He doesn't teach anything you have to teach yourself. If someone asks a question in class he just confuses you more. Drops some homework grades and curves at the end. Doesn't tell you your grade until the end of the semester.
I had him for math 220 and we used spss and he didnt give clear instructions on how to use it. Unless you go to tutoring or are good in math you will fail
He is a very nice and caring professor, but only take this class with Jones if you have prior knowledge about statistics. He is willing to help if you have questions during class time, but he only introduces concepts and does not teach you how to use them in practice. Easy if you already know the material, hell if you do not know statistics.
I learned more from the online homework assignments than from him, but I was able to pass with a good grade because I had taken stats in high school.
Doesnt teach at all. Never answers questions with helpful responses. Lectures were boring and not related to textbook work or tests. Good luck if you have this professor
At the end of the semester I can truly say this Professor taught me nothing in relation to statistics (in terms of application or formulas.) He was just unresponsive to questions/ emails from students. The fact I had already taken stat once is what helped me pass. Attending the virtual lectures was a waste of time-YouTube helps more! Trust reviews!
I had to take this class to get into upper-level math courses, and Dr. Jones was the only professor teaching it. He not only gave quizzes on material he did not teach, but when asking for help he would talk to me like I was dumb and should already know everything. Avoid him if you can, not worth the stress or anger.
Jones made me feel dumb when I asked questions. Asked kids to participate in class, but was negative and harsh. Didnt respond to emails. Reading quizzes average was usually 33% (no partial credit on proofs). Midterm and final is interview style. Inconsiderate regarding mental health. He made me cry during our interview midterm. DO NOT TAKE!
Dr. Jones is passionate about the subject. He made a proof-heavy class enjoyable. The class was structured as an ongoing discussion, and exams were conducted interview-style.
I took the 4 week summer option for this course which is much more condensed and material-heavy than a full semester length course. Professor Jones was amazing and very clear with his instruction and lecturing. Very friendly and inviting of questions as well. It was clear he wanted his students to understand and learn the material and do well.
Would not recommend this professor to anyone else, calc is hard enough on its own but he does an awful job of explaining the math and does not do any of the grading himself. The online system that he uses for grading is a required $100 and most homework has half of the problems on topics that we never covered but are never curved.
Professor Jones is not a great teacher. You will learn more by doing the homework and reading the book than you will by attending his lectures. The averages for tests are low and he will not curve them. He's a nice guy and will help a little with individual questions but I usually left the lectures more confused than I was entering them.
Professor Jones is a nice guy, but not a very good professor. If I hadn't taken AP Calc in high school, I would have been totally lost. He isn't very good at explaining problems or answering questions and he just seems all over the place. One good thing was that the homework and tests were very similar so that was nice.
Professor Jones is a great guy, but probably the worst professor I have had so far. If I was confused on a question he just confused me even more. Avoid if possible !
seems like a nice guy at first but grades really harshly. uses webassign but only lets you submit once. one problem was glitched so that it dropped a necessary coordinate; instead of giving points back for assigning an unsolvable problem, he told us we should've assumed the graph was to scale and measured. insists he's 'on our side'... right.
CANT TEACH! I studied took notes tutored Im good at math Im failing his class. Almost my entire class is failing. Hw is due every week worth 50 points, 25 questions. The online hw used to be 1 attempt per problem but my entire class argued with him for an hour of class to up it to 2. Grades: HW 30% Final 30% 2 Tests worth 20% each, 40% for both.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, the only grades that matter are the 3 tests which do not correlate with the homework's at all. Most students couldn't pass his class even if they got a 100% on the final which is worth 30% of your overall grade. You will walk out of class being more confused on the subject than when you walked in. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!
This professor didn't make any sense. The way he had his syllabus set up was so weird. It stated that the final is worth 30% of overall grade, but even if you get a 100% on the final it wouldn't raise your grade at all. When I asked for extensions on the homework, he never answered my email. If you ask him a question he confuses you even more.
Brant Jones is the worst professor I have ever had. This man claims to care about his students that he ends up screwing over in the end. He consistently displays an in ability to teach effectively, with the average grade in the course being a 63. I held a passing grade the entire course, failed the final, failed the class. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS.
I think he only gets as high as a 2 because I had Covid for the first two weeks and couldn't complete the HWs so he exempted them for me entirely. He might be a decent person but not a good professor at all. Every lecture he made the material more confusing as time went on, and was quite dismissive with any question you ask him. Disappointing.
he sucks so bad. never take his summer session, everyone is failing and he is so unhelpful.
the material itself was not too complicated; however, dr. jones' lectures were extremely unclear, and I had to attempt to clarify the information on my own. i took MATH220 prior to taking MATH103, and MATH220 was leaps and bounds easier for me simply because dr. jones was not a helpful professor. dr. jones is the worst professor i have had at jmu.
This class is horrible, by far the worst I've ever taken. Not understandable at all. Lectures are so boring and so confusing. Prof Jones is very bad at explaining and seems to just pull equations out of air. The class average on quizzes is literally a 45 lmfao. I don't understand how the entire class is failing and he doesn't do anything to help.
This class sucks. Class is about a bunch of random games that don't matter to anything at all. His notes are just a bunch of words jumbled together and are very hard to understand. When you ask him a question, he makes you even more confused. This course could've been fun, but he sucks so bad as a teacher and ruined any enjoyment. Stay away.
This professor can not teach at all. He teaches straight from the text book and when you ask him for help, he just tells you to go and look at the textbook. I have taken Calc in HS and just being in his class makes me question what I know. I learn more from the homework and getting help at the SCC than by just being in his class. Avoid him!
Worst professor I have ever had EVER. The online system is outdated and just plain annoying, homework is practically impossible. He thinks everything is so easy and that we all understand, but everyone is lost. The average on a test was 50% and no curve. He is nice though. Tests are not awful but the way they are designed its super easy to fail.
Worst Professor! The two tests make or break you. Prof Jones is no help during office hours. If you want to teach yourself calculus take this class otherwise stay away!!
There's no doubt Dr. Jones is really nice, and honestly his intentions are pure. However, when asking him for help... all he really does is redirect you back to the textbook and use terms you don't know. It's hard to understand and the labs seem pretty pointless since SPSS is sucha old system. Online homeworks are time consuming.
If you have another option for a profesor for stats, take them instead! He makes the information so much more confusing than it actually is, and the lectures are so boring that I almost fall asleep. All of the assignments and tests are on ALEKS, but then he also gives you "labs" which he grades very hard on. I wouldn't take him again.
Lots of online homework that helps your grade. He posts notes for lectures, but you have to be in class for the labs. The labs are super hard, and he gives little help and assistance when doing them. 2 small tests that are not that bad, and then one final. he allows you to have one sheet of paper with note son it for tests.
Professor Jones uses ALEKS, which is an online learning software and it'll be the only thing you're learning from all year. He seems like a nice man, but his lectures make so little sense that I've been lost for weeks. Do NOT fall behind because it's so hard to catch back up. When people ask questions in class he makes them seem stupid for asking.
I think this is Dr. Jones' first semester teaching elementary stat, but he did a pretty good job. You have weekly ALEKS homework (which sometimes takes HOURS), a couple of tests, and then labs he creates. My biggest complaint is that the labs don't exactly match up to what ALEKS teaches, so they're sort of difficult and drop your grade easily.
Horrible teacher. Avoid!!!
I'm not sure if this was Dr. Jones' first time teaching statistics but the entire semester was a struggle. His notes never matched up with what was in ALEKS (required software for class). We had to complete labs each week which only confused us more. He didn't curve or offer any extra credit for tests and the class average on the final was 49%.
I took this professor my second semester freshman year. It was awful, he belittled his students for not scoring high on his tests. The first test average was a fifty and he got mad at our class. There are 2 tests and then the final. Those are worth 70% of your grade. It's sad I got a 97 in Calc 2 but barely passed this class. AVOID HIM!
Graph theory with Dr. Jones is a blast. The material itself is interesting, but Dr. Jones' passion for mathematics makes it that much better. If you don't show up to class and actively participate, don't expect a good grade. He's very helpful with any questions you may have and always explains everything thoroughly. Go to class, skim the chapters.
Dr. Jones did not know how to teach students, seemed very clueless as to what he was doing himself. He made backhanded comments and rude. He told the student to ask each other instead of him, NO help!
When asking a question, he either makes you feel dub for asking or answers with an unrelated question. Homework is not the same as lectures. Labs are confusing, and he barely explains them. Don't take this professor at ALL costs
wont answer questions or clarify, kind of makes you feel dumb, the hwk is different from the notes, use of Aleks heavy, just study from aleks. DO NOT TAKE HIM. the material is okay but he just doesn't help. also he didn't know how to solve certain problems, so yea. take anyone else i promise.
The content given in lectures is completely irrelevant when it comes to the homework. The homework is almost impossible to complete because the class notes do not match. If you ask a question in class he will make you feel stupid and talk about something completely irrelevant, and he even confuses himself during class. AVOID!!!
I think he had a chance to be great but just is not. Overall the class is useless going to the lectures. He doesn't grade crap he uses the ALEKS software. I think what many classmates can agree with me on, is that I have learned more from ALEKS than I have in this class. Harsh grader on the labs we do doesn't give any feedback really. Very lazy....
Professor Jones was not a good teacher and his lectures did not match up with the weekly homework. He didn't care about his students and made us feel dumb when asking questions. You basically teach yourself all of the material and there is two test and a final exam. I do not recommend this class at all!!! This class can be very difficult!!
This Professor does not teach clearly, the aleks homework is extremely difficult and does not correlate with the things he 'teaches" during class and for the homework is self taught. He will not help you at all with any questions you have, doesn't answer emails. We buy a $140 textbook that we don't use ONCE. I very much struggled in this class.
Worst class I have ever taken. Prof. does not help with any questions and makes condescending comments to his students. Extremely rude!!!!!!!! Everyone in my class was confused. Lectures have nothing to do with tests and homework and is a complete waste of time. RUN while you can. trust me!!!!
I did not learn anything from Professor Jones. Everything I learned was through ALEKS or self-taught. Professor Jones does not teach what is on exams. The class can be very difficult and Professor Jones is not helpful when you have problems. Labs are graded harshly and there is little feedback to improve on the next lab.
When getting him as my math professor, the reviews scared me. I actually strongly recommend him as a professor. He is always ready to hlep if you have questions, and the ALEXs assignments are extremely easy. He lets you have one sheet of paper as a cheat sheet (which saved my grade) and also attendance is not manatory.
a wall could teach better
His lectures were very hard to follow and most of the time they had nothing to do with the homework and tests. I learned most everything from ALEKS. There are also labs that are pretty confusing and are graded harshly. Attendance is not mandatory but it is good to go to class on lab days and if you have questions.
Honestly a very nice professor, he did his best to provide examples and make content easier to understand. He was a little tough with the grading labs, but provided helpful feedback. Also gives you a cheat sheet for exams!! Super helpful. The software we use, ALEX, is what you need to study.
If this is the only prof available, take the class another semester
Do NOT take this. He does not care for his students and if you ask a question his answer either makes you feel dumb or he doesn't know the answer. His lectures don't help whatsoever and I learned everything for the tests and quizzes through the Aleks assignments meaning I basically had to teach myself everything.
Be prepared to teach yourself with ALEKS. He's a nice guy but builds off one problem and then expects you to read more in-depth about the small things he mentions. The test is formatted just like the ALEKS problems. Post the notes taken in class. I never looked at them and I still managed to pass.
I have no idea what these other reviews are on. Awesome professor. It's impossible to get below an 85 as long as you do the ALEKS assignments and show up to labs. Great guy, very clear instructions. I hated stats in high school, this class was a breeze even for a novice. Seriously, if you need to take 220, take Jones.
Professor Jones runs a tough class, but using ALEKS, Unstuck study, and staying on top of the lab assignments can really help. While the lectures don't always align with the material, he's willing to provide extra help if you reach out.
I stopped going to the lectures a few weeks in because they were boring and just taught myself through the ALEKS software. If you do all of the ALEKS assignments and go to the lab assignments, you should have no trouble. Also allows a cheat sheet for each test. I would highly recommend using the Review feature on ALEKS to review for tests.
He wasn't a bad professor it's just a harder class. He tried his best to explain things and provide examples/ help when he could. The tests are the hard part so make sure to study and get good grades on all of the ALEKS assignments to keep your grade up. Be super thorough on the labs too bc he's kinda harsh on grading them.
The exams are 60% of your grade. And the exams only have about 4-7 problems, so if you get one wrong you're already tanked. I didn't find the material that difficult at first, but it started to pick up and would be hard to wrap my head around. I don't think the class is that difficult, but the prof makes it harder to get that b minus.
Not good teacher
Quizzes are 60% of the grade, each quiz is only a few question so if you get one wrong you're cooked. Quizzes are also nothing like the homework and readings and it's very difficult to know how to prepare for the test.
He assigns a lot of quizzes that have a max of 5 questions with some even having as little as 1 so if you miss one question your grad drops. He also puts things on the quizzes that he doesn't talk about in class and gives bad explanations for them.
I don't know why his ratings are so low. He's kind and really cares about your success. Yes, it is very test heavy, but he lets you have a cheat sheet and if you do the homework and study, you'll be fine. He doesn't take attendance and posts the lecture notes too. If you're confused just ask questions and he is happy to help.
Waste of my time
everytime i walked to his class i didn't look both ways hoping a car would hit me.
worst professor ever. do not take BRANT JONES. whole class failed the first midterm and he did not care and half of the class ended up dropping. tests are worth 60% of grade so if you fail one you're cooked.
WORST PROFESSOR. Never responds to emails. I mean I passed, and this course doesn't even count to me applying the business school so whatever. Waste of my money and time. You could definitely find a better professor for Math205 course. Additionally, the tests are 40% of your grade which is OD.
JUST DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. Lectures are awful—he just copies notes on the board with minimal explanation. There are examples, but they're confusing and hard to follow, so you end up teaching yourself. The online textbook is difficult to understand and read, homework feels like an exam with two tries, and overall it's basically a self-taught class.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. All tests in person but online. You have to study and participate in class or you will fail. Catches people trying to cheat all the time, don't risk it. Your better off finding a different class if you just want a math credit.
Horrible teaching styles. Just horrible. Literally if you go to class he is very boring and just writes notes for you to copy without giving any practice questions, then sends you home to do some homework on some random website. Be ready to teach yourself. I can't believe the school hasn't stepped in the change or remove this teacher.
this guy sucks
