Ms. Smith is a great speech teacher to take. Very simple speeches that do not take a lot of time to prepare. I made an easy A in her class.

B.K. is definitely the sweetest teacher in HCC, (along with Mrs. Bowen). If you take any other person for Public Speaking, you are hurting yourself. 5 thumbs up to BK.

B.K.Smith is a very nice teacher. An easy A". I took her for Summer I,and did very well.she very intelligent. All you have to do is show up,and have your speech ready. GREAT!!!!!.

She is an awesome instructor. She really cares for her students and encourages you to do your best. She is also a pretty easy grader so you should have no problem. I definitely recommend her!!!

BK is an awesome teacher! Very helpful, makes the class fun and interesting! She hates gum chewing in her class. Show up, have your speech ready, and leave your shyness at the door. She will make you feel very welcomed in her class.

One of the best classes i took over the summer. I respect her for being on time and wants every one to do the same. very clear and effective lictures. For an A just make sure to attend the classes and dont miss any and do the assignments. Her tests is the easiest ever. I admire this professor.

BK is not "tough" in the literal sense. She is serious about teaching her students how to be good speakers. If you follow her instructions and give your best effort you will do well. She is very sharp, so be prepared to learn and make it to every class. I learned a great deal from her and really appreciated her feedback.

lovessss to talk talk talk and tell great stories! pretty much just show up and listen to her talk and participate once in awhile and you'll get an A. Gives you all the answers to tests beforehand, they are usually short answer but they are word for word from her reviews. I've enjoyed this class and plan to take her interpersonal comm class next!

i am enrolled now(spring2006)in two seperate types of speech,and my ONLY regret is her classes are 1.5 hrs.long,it SHOULD be as long as the biology classes because,effective communication will be more helpful in getting that biology job.

Great experience - took her for public speaking. Expects you to become a good speaker by semester's end. Students who apply themselves do well. Not an easy "A" like some say. She will give you a "D" of "F" if you don't try to better your skills. Learned a lot - love giving speaches now! Her pet peave: No cell phones ever! Sweet lady.

She is easy but a hard grader. Time and attendance a MUST!!!!!! her test are easy but she wants you to write from the book and its difficult because in college we are taught not to plagarise. and i do recommend her

BK is the best of what a professor should be - tough but fair. I took public speaking and it was the most entertaining and fun class I've ever taken. Plus I learned how to give a speech and feel confident I could do it again. I like the fact that she does not put up with any crap, i.e. being late, not following the rules and being disrespectful.

she's a southern lady who repects her students and deserves their respect. i don't think she likes me but i like her. she graded me fairly. she expects her students to be adults and to complete assignments--if you do, you will make an A.it's not a hard class, and she makes it interesting.i learned a lot, and enjoyed her class.

fun class, really gets you out of your fear of public speaking. learned a bit about communication and the process of it. wish i took it over a semester instead of short summer session, probably would have learned MUCH more. prof can be a bit abrasive but she means well.

Really likes to test. About one too many tests were given, in my opinion. Lot's of homework for a speech class. She knows how to teach speech though. If you miss more than 4 classes she will fail you.

She is a good teacher that likes to talk alot about herself. Very few tests given this semster, must be on time, and cannot miss more than two days.

Her texts are very easy to get an A. the presentation requires good preparations. Just follow exactly her direction, you will be ok. Easy A. High recommended

Someone posted here that if you are late two times you fail. Not true. I loved the course. I did not appreciate how much I learned in her class until it came time to present a speech to my art class. Wow. Thanks BK for teaching me the fundamentals of communication. I hope next year to take her public speaking class. Super teacher.

I was really scared to take this class in the beginning. B.K. made you feel comfortable from the first day there was not a lot of homework and only two tests and a major presentation. Tests are all short answer but she gives good test reviews. I wish all teachers were as relaxed as B.K. highly recommend her!!!!!

I too was scared to take a public speaking class but B.K. class was welcoming and very interesting. I learned a lot and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this teacher to anyone that need to take public speaking. Good Luck!!!

I was reading some comments about this professor...I don't understand some students, you are not in high school guys, you are in another level. If we miss more than 4 classes, OF COURSE we wont get and A, that is part of the college policy. She is HIGHLY RECOMMEND and one of the best professors I've ever have....Easy A.

BK is the best! I engoyed being in her class in the summer. Very easy to get along with. Do your work and do what she ask you to do then you will get an A. The key is to follow her concept. She is best teacher i have taken in the summer time and I recommend everybody to take her for any speech class. I honestly can say I am a better speaker!

This professor is by far the best ever! Not only is she a true southern belle, she also has the grace of a gazelle. She does not mince words. And don't be late, you are better off not showing up! She teaches real-world and will help you with that real-world; e.g. giving you exactly what is on her test but the answers also! Just don't be late!

she is a great techer. You just have to follow her instructions and do wat she tells you to do. you will make an A without any problems. Some times she shouws she has ver strong opinion, but if you just do what she tells you to do. I asure you. you will make an A.

She is a very good teacher. I was very shy because she will put anyone right on the spot of the whole class, lol. Easy class, just be faithful to your journals, come everyday, read your asigned book, and study for your mid-term. Final exam was a take home exam. Easy A!

Great teacher. Took her for Interpersonal Communication and learned a great deal about myself and how to communicate better. This class will teach you life skills that you don't get in math or other classes. Take this class!! It is a fun, intersting class. She's funny too! Keeps class and subject matter interesting!

Despite these reviews BK Smith is a fabulous teacher, you have to work for your grade, which is the way the real world works. You must come to class or she will drop you. If your wise and smart this is an easy A.

Personally, she has a nasty attitude towards me. She never smiles at me but she does with everyone else. And I just decided to stop participating in her class. I took BK IN THE SUMMER, SHE IS A WONDERFUL PROFESSOR TO LEARN FROM. Do what she says exactly and you'll be fine. there are 3 speeches, informative,persuasive and the last one is optional with one midterm and the final is a take home paper. Good luck! I made a hundred average. easiest class ever. Super nice and sweet. Just do your work. test review is same as the test. Final was easy. She teaches you repairing at the end, most helpful and useful thing ever. Take her because you will learn ALOT!!!!!!!!!

All of the negative comments that people said about professor BK are false. She is a woman full of good character. I would have to say Speech 1318 is an excellent class for people to take because you learn about yourself and more about people who are surrounding you. The class is full of interesting discussions.

BK is the best communication professor out there! We had one test and she gave u answers ahead of time all you had to do is memorize! end of semester you turn in your journals and book report! I got an A in her class! She really gets you enggaed in the topic of talking!

Amazing woman! take her interpersonal class- grow as a person and learn something you will use the rest of your life! I loved this class! Open discussion everyday was interesting and fun. There is work to do- book report and a journal. if you do take her don't be late or absent.

BK is the best professor period. A little strict but shes cool tells you what you need to know when you need to know it. Attendance is a must, can eat in her class but no gum.

She likes to tell jokes and expect you to learn a lesson of what she told. sometimes a little bit of critical and wants her students to follow the appropriated way of professional speaking. She can judge the way you speak if she does not like you, keeps wining about cellphone and gum. Overall it was fun but you need to pay attention

I was afraid to take this class but i am glad i took it with her! She is very clear on what she wants: 3 speeches, 1 test and final TAKE HOME Essay very easy!Attendance is mandatory because it is 33% of the grade My first language is french but i made an A+, take her. I love her so much! Gonna miss her!

I was afraid at first because I did not like speaking and she was strict, but as we're getting close to each other she was a nice and sweet lady; she made the class more interesting and everyone is getting better on their presentation.I will miss this class :)

Today was the last day of my speech class with BK, and I already miss her. She is a wonderful educator and mentor. She has come in early and has stayed back after class just to accommodate students that weren't able to finish their work in time. She uses great techniques to get the point across. TAKE HER CLASS! Great teacher, she can be a tough grader however if you have any questions she is willing to answer them. In the class it can sometimes get off topic however she brings back everyone's attention. i recommend any student to take her.

THE ABSOLUTE BEST! Literally the review is the actual test so just memorize! Her lectures are interesting so that you actually want to learn and not just memorize. She is super funny and gives great advice. She will give you a book to borrow if you need one and loves hearing students opinions and life stories as we go through chapters. Take her!!!!
