Brenda is student centered; knowledgable; open; and approachable. Hardly a prof above this one!!! However, while she does assign a lot of work, she marks generously!

She was a very good teacher, and will try really hard to help you in class if you ask for it!

She was an excellent prof. She covered a lot of material in class so it is recommended not to miss too many. She is easy to take notes from, and her exams are just a recap of what was discussed in class.

An amazing professor! She mixes up the media (videos, guests, etc.) and cracks us up. She's friendly and bubbly, but knows her stuff. Just take down everything in class and you'll be fine. No picky questions, focus on broad themes.

I liked her and her class very much. The term sheets given out before exams were a very helpful study tool. I absolutly loved this class and it challenged me to use my own views.

What a great professor! Very clear and extremely helpful, approachable. She's not pretentious at all. Midterm was easy if you study hard, the study guide sheet she gave was really helpful too. What an interesting class. Won't hurt your GPA if you come to class and try! Good elective.

Brenda is an amazing professor. Her classes were very enjoyable, she is a fair marker with great assignments and she is one of the friendliest people on staff. If you are ever given the opportunity to take one of her classes, make sure you do not pass up the opportunity! Fabulous!

Amazing teacher. One of the best teachers that I have had in my 4 year university career. She actually kept us entertained for a 2 3/4 hour class. Assignments are pretty easy and she is a good marker.

She is really funny and makes even the dullest topics fun. She is really open-minded and encourages everyone to participate. Brenda is one of the best profs at the U of R. Her lectures are very organized and clear, you always know what she expects from you. If you attend class and take good notes you'll do fine. Take any class she teaches!!

I took a class from Brenda last year...and she STILL comes up and says hi to me. I love this prof. She is hands down one of the best people ever, and a great professor. She's helpful, funny, concerned and just overall an excellent choice for any one who needs to take Religious Studies 100...even if you don't need the class, I still recommend it. :D

She is a good professor and she is very organized in her lectures which helps for a 100 class. She has a great sense of humor and cares for her students. She wants them to know as much as possible. However, for the midterms it is important to know everything inside out because she marks hard. I recommend her.

Brenda is an awesome teacher. Her lectures are interesting and clear. As long as you take lots of notes and read the text book all is well. There are 2 midterms, a project and final.

Interesting prof. Sometimes a little demanding with her projects, but she does give out good marks on them. Make sure you study for all the midterms cause they can come back and bite you. Also, she is an easier marker than her TA.

Brenda seems to really want the best for her students. Offers help, so they can do well. Makes jokes time to time to keep people in a good mood. High recommendation.

Brenda is a great professor. She is clear and straight forward with what she wants from her students. She lets her students know that some may be stronger in her class than others due to the fact that they took similar classes in highschool. Brenda will meet with you after or before class. She wants all of her students to excell.

This woman is so much fun! I would DEFINATLY recommend taking women's studies with her. She does everything she can to make things interesting. Great sense of humor!

Brenda was such a pleasure to teach. So much fun and she really cares about her students, gives out free marks for coming to class on friday-long weekends. Always bubbly, never a dull moment..good at lecturing class went by so fast! Highly Recommended..even if your not interested in women studies!

Brenda is an amazing prof! I can't say enough about her. she made the transition to university easy and fun. i wasn't really interested in wmst b4 taking her class but she was funny and didnt let the class become boring. plus her exams are really easy! just make sure you attend as much class as possible and you should get good marks!

Brenda is probably the best prof I've ever had. She is soooo helpful, I emailed her several times throughout the course and she always replied right away. No question is ever a dumb question with this sweet lady! Take her seriously you wont regret it, she's super funny and just all around a great prof.

I have no complaints about Brenda at all. Brenda is a wonderful human being, period. The course I took from her was demanding and not for the faint of heart.

The professor presents a lot of interesting material. Take good notes, exams are similar to the notes and assigned readings. There is quite a bit of material, but the professor is really helpful and provides clarity to make sure the students understand.

If you find her classes hard maybe you should go to Siast. Not to mention that decolonization is a major part of Femminist thinking today so if you find that irrelevent than you probably diden't pay very close attention to the rest of the lectures.

Brenda is amazing. I took her 200 class and am taking her relgious studies class. She is very fair and an easy marker. I hate women studies and she loved me so don't believe everything you hear.

i took this class from her in winter 2007, the class wasnt too much work. if you read the textbooks, study for the midterms and put a little effort into the final project then theres no reason you cant get an 80 in her class. She is the best prof. I've ever had. Once you take one class from her you will want to take as many classes as possible from her.

Brenda is great!!Her class is interesting and she uses various different mediums throughout her class to get her meaning acrossed. We had two textbooks for this class one was used a lot the other was not but it may come in handy later on.Her exams are very subjective keep that in mind for exams...but she is just awesome wonderful teacher.

She's nice but can be annoying at times. Strong feminist opinions. Have to listen to her rant and take notes. No power points. Marks hard on tests, but marked the paper easy. Wouldn't take a class from her again, but was decent.

Brenda is a wonderful prof but I still didn't do very wel in her class. Key point: do not buy the text book, she puts it on reserve in Luther library for anyone to use and it was always there when I needed it. Doesn't look for word for word definitions but wants you to incorporate one definition with another.

Definately can tell she loves what she does. Very enthusiastic and helpful. Tests are pretty hard but are marked easier than expected and there is a lot of reading. 1 essay and it was a pretty easy topic and marked fairly easy. make sure u attend the class because the lectures are super important and are vital for the tests

I was not looking forward to taking Women's Studies, but Brenda made the class enjoyable and interesting. She also has a great sense of humor on some of the material covered in class. The quizzes were fairly easy if you attended class and studied. I loved her class and plan on taking a future class with her

I loved Brenda! She is so funny, the perfect amount of quirky and passionate. Yes, her tests are a bit hard, but this is UNIVERSITY. Get used to it. Her marking is very fair. Undoubtedly taking another class from her when I can.

I have taken several Women Studies classes from Brenda. She is by far the best prof I have ever had. Simply amazing. Warm, compassionate, funny, an incredible teacher and activist. Take any class from her. You won't regret it.

Brenda is one of my favorite profs., but even I found her 280 class to be a heavy workload. My other 300, 400 level classes were easier than this class. However, it was still an awesome class. Just be prepared to work hard to keep up

As she says, you miss class- you miss points. Her exams all require engaging with the material from the lectures and going beyond the notes, so they're a bit challenging, so you need to study well. You can see Brenda's passion when she talks and she is a very caring lady - go to her for extra clarification! She marks fairly on essays too. Loved her

I really enjoyed taking this class. I didn't know much about WGST and was uneasy about taking this class but I am glad I did. Brenda wants everyone to do good and if you show up to the lectures, you will do good. Sometimes she gets off topic and can start ranting but she is very passionate about her class. I'd take another class from her.

Brenda is an awesome choice for WGST 100. It was super interesting and she's a great prof. Attendance is mandatory because she doesn't really used powerpoints so you have to be writing down what she says. She is very accessible and want everyone to excel, though her exams are tough, if you study well you'll get 90s. This class was my highest mark!

I LOVE HER! She was easy to talk to after class, was really caring about what she was teaching, gave me great marks on my essays and honestly i only have amazing things to say about her. I can not wait to take a class by her again!

I loved taking this class. Brenda was easy to talk to, very understanding, and a fair marker. LOTS of reading. Creative take home final which was so much better than a written final. Genuinely enjoyed coming to class. She's very enthusiastic about what she teaches. I look forward to taking another class with her if possible.

One of the best professors I have had so far. Her instructions are really clear and assignments are fairly easy as she makes it pretty straightforward. Always emails back to students pretty quickly and tries her absolute best to help out. Really understanding and caring prof and I would definitely take classes with her again.

Brenda was very concerned with how students were doing. Made time to meet outside of class if needed. I had trouble with some terminology as she uses lots of philosophical wordings that I felt might be over a 100 class level but there is always google. I found the assignments HARD but she answered any questions. I really liked her as a person!

Brenda's classes are mostly synchronous but she uploads the recorded classes too, attendance is not mandatory. My advice read the assigned readings and watch the assigned films. This way you are able to follow along well in the lecture, her lecture mostly expounds on the readings and films and gives additional insight. She explains really well.

Brenda is an amazing prof! She made lectures so enjoyable and entertaining. She's extremely personable and really cares about the material she's teaching. She happily meets with students or will email to help/ give feedback. Take time to do her assessments and be thorough; if you do, you'll walk away with a great mark.

She loves what she does and wants you to love it as well. Her assignments are long but enthralling. She loves discussion and hearing what everyone thinks is relevant or what could be updated. She marks very easy and as long as you pay attention to class and the discussions you will do well.
