awesome, very clear
This prof knows her stuff. SHE WANTS YOU TO SUCCEED and she does everything in her power to help you do so.A tip would be to attend class and take notes. She explains concepts clearly and you actually RETAIN some of the info you are presented (unlike other Profs' useless lectures).Lectures are enjoyable and fun to attend at 8:30 in the morning.
She is an awesome teacher. Very friendly and funny. Makes lectures very enjoyable, especially at 8 30 in the morning. She wants everyone to do well, she tells you exactly what is on the midterms-most ppl got A's. *Two thumbs up!!* Get her if you can!!
Clear explanations. She relates the material to her own life a lot of the time, which is very helpful. She is a good prof to get.
Brenda Baird is an awesome prof!!!She knows her stuff incredibly well and she will help you if you need help right.Anyone who wants to take psy, I strongly rec. to take it with Baird.Great Prof!!!
She's a pretty standard example of a great prof. Clear explanations, interesting, knowledgable, and cheerful. Great class, great prof.

Very very easy midterms, but any scientists in the class will just die from her explanations of genetics. Don't listen to anything she says about DNA. Nice prof overall though, when she sticks to psych stuff.
Funny, we thought it was excellent, and who are the undergrad scientsists anyway????
excellent prof
Exams were fair, 3hrs class usually ended lasted only 2hrs. Study her notes more than the text book.
At the beginning, had a great impression, seemed funny, straight-forward, easy-going teacher, as the semester progressed she went back on her instructions and was not very nice. One day had to leave her class early, was as quiet as possible, but she still insisted on stopping the lecture to say bye in a rude tone to me... pfft don't take her class!
I really enjoyed the way her class was taught. Lectures were clearly presented and I was sufficiently prepared to find no surprises on exams. She is a very helpful prof, only one complaint, regarding a mark of 58 on my term paper, which is unusually low for me, especially considering how much work I put into this paper, and time spent revising it a
Professor Baird was really fun to have, certainly passionate about her subject. Textbook was no use until final, then it was everything. Read the chapters as she goes through for results and least stress. Slides were available online, but don't skip or neglect notes - the slides often had only the main points with no explainations attached.
Ok prof. Notes & exams are prepared, exams were ok too. I've noticed that for some of the negative comments they tend to be challenged (by her?) and are replied back to (by her?). If yes, maybe should not take comments personally but as a means to improve. As a budding psychologist, shouldnt place her self-esteem on a couple of negative comments
Nice lady, interesting personality. Notes are well prepared and her midterms and finals are straight out of her notes. Read your chapters, and learn her slides, you'll do great!
shes awesome, makes everything clear and simple. funny, and ruined a girl walking out of class one day..which ruled... great prof, made the class fun and interesting.
She's the very definition of n ideal prof. She's organized, notes r clear n precise, explains the material exceptionally well, tests r fair, always avail. n willing 2 help u out.2 top it off, she has n incredible personality!Hilarious, charismatic, passionate about psy.She Has the ability 2 make u want 2 b a better student.Honest, real n down to earth!
Very informedand made class so interesting
She is sooo funny and a very fair teacher. Really takes the time to ensure students understand material.
Always kept class interesting. Very clear and to the point.
Great teacher, very energetic, helpful and funny. Her slides are very useful. Go to class, do your readings and you'll pass with flying colors. She's also very approachable and friendly. Love this teacher !!

She's a very good professor and her class is entertaining. A lot like the other psych 1101, the first mid-term is heavy on stuff that was covered in class that is NOT in the textbook. Very important to go to class.
She is an ass, so is her TA. Jessica kokins this Ta is the most useless person i have seen!
AMAZING prof. Pretty much made psych. my favourite class. I looked forward to going to her classes. Very good slides, clear expectations, and she was funny and helpful. All you need to get a good grade is a bit of interest and a decent attendance (you don't want to miss her thorough in-class explanations). Hope to have her again sometime!
Awesome professor. Great lecturer, very intelligent and funny lady. I was never bored in her class.
Great Proff - very funny and friendly, definitely kept our class entertained. She often brings in videos to help explain things that were discussed and was very good about answering questions. Very approachable and very clear in her method of teaching. Her slides do need to be added to, but as long as you attend class it shouldn't be a problem.
her midterms are fair, but do not really prepart you for the final exam wich is a lot harder
It's so true about the genetics lectures. They are too simplified and made me cringe a bit at their inaccuracies. It was when we left the science topics and focused on mental disorders that i started becoming interested. Overall she's a pretty stimulating professor who has to put up with a lot of slackers.
Dr Baird is a great teacher. She is a brilliant lady and has a great knowledge transfer strategy. I would recommend her teaching to anyone.
Decent teacher, but I resent the fact that she chases you out of class if you leave early.
Dr. Baird is a fantastic prof and defiantly one of my favorites. Her excellent sense of humor and laid back nature makes attending class a true pleasure. Just a word of caution, if you need to leave class early, just let her know ahead of time. Otherwise you may get called out! :P
Good at explaining things. Has interesting examples.
Love her. Amazing sense of humour, really helpful, seems to actually care whether her students do well. Tells good (and useful) stories and her outfits are always creative.
She's funny.
AMAZING PROF!! I love how she posted slides and showed videos. Very important to use the textbooks and her slides for all mid-terms and exams even though every prof says the mid-terms are based on in-class lectures, i learned that reading the chapters help "fill in the blanks" to understanding. If you can be flexable with your sched. choose her!!!!
she is hilarious, and after the 2nd midterm going to class is useless, bc the final is based on txtbk only, but the room was full. Her examples are funny.vshe wears the cutest clothes. i suggest buying a used txtbk. she does powerpoint slides (she post them on webCT) which are guides, not notes. go to class, but make notes from txtbk. class avg~75%
one of the best profs i ever had, luv her
Great and interesting professor. Writes her own midterms, which are much more difficult than the school written final, though she doesn't cover everything in the textbook, so make sure to read it before the final.
Prof. Baird is unique in her method of teaching which makes the class very interesting and you can not feel the time. She makes us thing critically about her daily class questions and she is very clever in choosing those questions. I never forget what she taught me and how she helped me to study better for psychology.
Dr. Baird is an excellent professor to teach Psychology. She makes me love psychology as a majof study.
Dr. Baird doesn't need any evaluation at the end of her course. For me as a student from Saint Paul University I benefited a lot from her classes. With her experiences in the Rehab Center for 15 years she provided me with a valuable lesson. I invite you to take any class with her.
I HEARD POSITIVE FEED BACKS FROM MY FRIENDS WHO TAKE PSYCHOLOGY WITH PROFESSOR BAIRD AND REALLY SHE IS A MAZING PROF. STUDY HARD FOR HER CLASS AND HAVE FUN.
Dr.Baird is excellent prof. Take any course with her.
Dr. baird required us to know a lot of material but the way she teaches and how she explains what is on her exams is INCREDIBLE, i wish she taught every course at uottawa! I give her my highest recommendation
Awesome Prof. I took 1101/1102 two years ago and will be taking her Psychopathology class this coming year! Her teaching is good because she makes things interesting. She informs you about what to expect on the exams. And is very entertaining! Love her class! I'd try to take as many of her classes as I can!
Very interested in the material she's teaching and explains it very well. Her lectures don't match up to the textbook very much since she brings in her own content. Attendance is ESSENTIAL for midterms but you won't need to study anything besides notes! Final is pure textbook - DON'T RELY ON NOTES ONLY, YOU WON'T DO WELL! Easy A+ :)
One of my favourite professors at this university! She is interesting and funny - the lectures are always engaging and I learned a lot. Be sure to go to all the classes since the PPTs are not all filled out. The exam has some tricky multiple choice questions but it is very fair overall. Great class!
She was a very knowledgeable and lively professor. Her tests were straightforward but for the long answer she was very specific so my advice would be to read the textbook and know the terms. The lectures are good for concepts because she helps with her many anecdotal examples.
She is good when it comes to teaching and explaining concept you need to know. Exams are fair. However, she is very rude when it comes to answering students questions.
I took the "deadly" stats with her and I am so grateful! if you fail this class or get bad grade, it's actually because you didn't do the readings. doing the actual math part.. is probably 30% of her 60 mp midterms and 70 mp on exam. She explains everything SO clearly and VERY possible to get a A+ in this class. DO THE READINGS!!! lab was useless
Amazing prof. She clearly explains everything. Make sure you attend class and you WILL understand everything. No need to buy the expensive text book, simply purchase the study guide which gives clear step by step instructions. Study Guide + Class Attendance = at least a B grade.
Took stats the semester before with another prof and dropped out halfway through cause i was failing with 30's. In Brenda's class i averaged an 80. She is amazing! Dont need the book much, use the study guide! Doing assignments helps so much for the midterms. Just choose this prof, shes perfect!
She's great at lecturing and teaching. I found her pretty condescending though, one-on-one. I stopped asking her questions because she made me feel like an idiot. :/
Good Professor ; knew her stuff. Does not go out of her way to help students; just does her job and nothing more. Not very approachable when it comes to extra questions; do not ask her about your program or any advice on career planning. Other professors seem to be more helpful when it comes to those little extra questions.
I took a course she was teaching at Carleton. Excellent lecturer; explains things thoroughly. Made me feel pretty unintelligent with anything I approached her with outside of class. During lectures she's very helpful and a lot less rude. She won't embarrass you in front of 500 people. Do your readings.
She's an OK teacher. She knows her stuff and explains well in class. However the exams are not easy and sometimes don't reflect on what we've seen in class. Really have to read the textbook by ourselves. She can sometimes be rude when students answer questions.
This course is manageable, and an A is very possible with enough hard work and efficient reading. The prof is a great lecturer; she explains the material very clearly and tries relating it to real-life situations, which is an excellent teaching method. I highly recommend her for any psychology course.
Horrible person. She made my life hell and enjoyed it..
I love how she teaches the material. You definitely have to listen and take notes in class-you can't just go by slides.
Good prof, ok course. Marked on two midterms (mostly multiple choice), a paper, and the final exam. You should read the textbook before the exams. Kind of difficult, but if you study hard you'll get a good mark.
If you ask a dumb question she wont baby you- she will be quick to call you out and put you down. Most people have learned to just keep their questions to themselves but those who haven't make the class entertaining. Besides that, she's a really great prof, with a good sense of humour and seems to really love teaching psych.
Baird is an awesome prof! She is very clear on what she expects of you. She teaches the material well, and her exams are fair. She is also super funny, and tells the best stories! Overall, one of my favourite profs
Professor is clear in her expectations and is a very engaging lecturer. She is hilarious and obviously very knowledgeable on the subject. There were two tests and a final. I did not do my readings or attend classes and managed an 80% on both tests. Manageable class. Great elective or great choice for a prof if the class is required for you!
Excellent prof, her lectures are interesting, doesn't read off the slides and knows what she's talking about. Really funny, she covers mostly what's in the book too so as long as you show up and take good notes you're golden. Tests (2 midterms and 1 final) are really straight forward. Fair grader.
Clearly loves what she's teaching. Very engaged and loves to chat with the students after class, show videos and crack jokes. Knows her material well and the tests are easy (the first one is all multiple choice, the second has some short answers and the exam is easy if you studied). One of the best teachers I've had so far.
You have to read one chapter of a big book by week, Brenda is always there for you, very comprehensive, she is crystal clear in her explanations and gives you the "Why?" of a statistical formula, so you can understand the logic under it. She's funny and she makes statistics INTERESTING, yes you read correctly! TAKE HER
Her tests are super reasonable, read the textbook, show up to most classes, and you'll do great. There is no extra credit, so be careful. She's a bit rude sometimes, a touch unapproachable. That being said, she's not quite as good as she says she is, she likes to toot her own horn about how great she is at teaching, but she's an okay teacher.
Attend all classes and take good notes. Study that and you will surely do well (textbook is not needed). On top of that, the lectures are very interesting and crystal clear explanations are provided. Will also allow you to defer an exam if you have a good reason for it. Excellent overall.
I found her to be rude and unapproachable. Her assignments were ridiculous and pointless. Her tests were very long especially the second midterm. Do not recommend. As a prof she is ok, fairly clear, material isn't too difficult. Her lectures were very boring and she posts the slides.
She's a really great prof, with a good sense of humour and loves teaching psych. She also tells the best stories that relate to that day's lecture, although sometimes she will call you out if you ask a "stupid" question. Regardless, she's one of my favourite profs and she's extremely helpful.
Dr. Baird taught this class well. I was interested during the majority of her lectures. The midterm and exam were a mix of in class lectures and the textbook so study both equally. A fairly standard Psych class but I was happy with it.
Professor Baird makes the classes so much more interesting! Easy pass if you attend class. Final exam for PSY1101 is tough since everything is based off of the book and she does not cover everything, but her midterms are super easy! Pay attention to examples she uses as they are most likely on the midterm!
Amazing professor!!!! She saved my life in stats. I am horrible in math and was so nervous to take this class but ended up getting an A all because of her. Her teaching style is awesome and she makes sure you understand what she is teaching. I highly recommend taking stats with her if you are not strong in math.
Best prof for stats! She saved my grade with how helpful and clear she was about the whole course. She wouldn't move on to another topic until everyone understood the material. Gives assignments right before midterms, and practice midterms to help you get the best grade possible. Truly encourage anyone to take her if you are taking stats! Amazing.
Then entire course was multiple choice but some of the questions are on content that she never talked about. Her lectures are pretty good and she uses blackboard really well. I'd take her class again.
My all time favourite prof. She is hilarious and her lectures are always clear. It is important to attend class because she does touch on things that aren't in the textbook and usually explains concepts better than the book anyway. I would go out of my way to take another class of hers.
She's OK! She had two midterms & final. Midterm 1 was only MCQs. Midterm 2 & final had MCQs & short/long answers. Expects lots of detail for written responses (long answers worth a lot, ranging from 10-20 marks). Memorize everything on slides & read the parts she talks about in great detail in the textbook. She can be a little rude but fair prof.
Brenda is amazing ! Cristal clear concerning what she wants and very funny !
Easy midterms, all multiple choice. Midterms are based on lectures, not the textbook, recommend attending. Final is on the textbook, so be sure to keep up with readings.
She is amazing. I exited out of my online midterm accidentally before having the chance to complete it. I emailed her explaining what had happened, and she ended up prorating my exam. Very understanding prof and responds to emails quickly! Would definitely recommend.
You need to go to class to pass the class! She's a great prof, and her lectures were so interesting. She's very intelligent and there's a lot to be learned. She does 2 midterms, a paper and final. Half MC; Half short/long answer. She isn't great with one on one help, don't waste time asking. Best prof to take for psychopathology BY FAR, very fair!
Prof Baird is amazing. She absolutely loves and knows what she's talking about for psychopathology. She covers absolutely everything but does emphasize and put weight on her areas of expertise. Lectures are amazing, you must go if you want to pass and know what she expects/is planning plus they're just really interesting. Take this prof if you can!
Really nice prof. Humorous in a subtle way which makes lectures enjoyable. Most of the info you need is on the slides she posts online, but she does add helpful comments/explanations in class. Knows the material extremely well. Very approachable. Only graded on two midterms and the final exam, so no other opportunities to boost your grade.
Good teacher. Knows her material. Will post the power points online but her explanations are way better than the textbook. But with that being said, the textbook will be your best friend for the exams. So, be ready to read and study more than just your notes and slides.
Dr. Baird is the sweetest! She made stats 1 easy to understand. She simplifies the contents and repeats things so that you can get it. Definitely o to DGDs, they help a lot. She's so nice and stylish! I just wish she taught stats 2 too. Definitely take stats with her!!!
One of uOttawa's best professors. Attend class and take notes of everything she says, she gives great help in terms of assignments and exams and even reiterates key information to help you succeed. Read the textbook and ask questions if you're stuck on anything. Definitely take Baird for statistics if you can!
Baird is great at conveying information in a very interesting way that makes the material come to life. She is funny, engaging, and uses all kinds of learning tools to best enhance learning. For PSY1101 you'll need the text and to read it because a large portion of your grade comes form the book. Great prof.
She's a great teacher! Her slides don't have everything on them so you'll have to pay attention but that doesn't matter because she makes the lectures entertaining, she shows lots of cute videos of babies and her tests are fair. Study and you'll definitely pass.
LOVED her class! The textbook is a waste of money. If you attend class and take detailed notes you will get an easy A. Her lectures are super interesting and she's also hilarious! She is clearly passionate about what she teaches. Highly recommend her as a prof
I absolutely loved dr. Baird! she's very knowledgable and makes the slides and content entertaining. the midterms were fair and the exam is based solely on the textbook so its an easy A if you study! I would definitely take her class again
Professor Baird is very, very knowledgeable and passionate about her subject. She makes her lectures interesting, & enjoyable. I recommend going to class, it helps to fill in some information. Only downside is that her 2nd midterm and exam have written portions (the exam written portion was worth 50%). Super interesting course!
Her lectures are amazing, and her midterms/exam are straightforward. You only need to go to class and study her slides for midterms. Once midterms are over, theres no need to go to lectures because the exam is based only on the textbook. The class is a very easy A, I highly recommend taking it.
Funny prof and easy class if you have taken math before. However, spends too much time on the easy material and rushes the challenging stuff. Also doesn't listen to your questions and then gets mad when people don't answer her questions. Stopped attending, did the text q's, got nearly perfect. She makes things more confusing than has to be
Make sure you keep up with your readings because the final exam is based on the textbook. Her lectures are not based on the textbook but on her lecture material which is not 100% the same so make lecture notes for the midterms and notes from the textbook for the final.
She was very enthusiastic about statistics and made the intro course easy to understand. I would recommend going to the lectures because although she posts the slides, she gives helpful hints and tricks in class. Her assignments are pretty easy and she doesn't change the questions on them per semester. Overall a good professor.
she's so great
I love Professor Baird. She's so understanding when it comes to statistics because it's a scary class for a lot of students to take. She goes super slow so everyone understands and she makes jokes so that's a plus as well.
Dr. Baird is a nice and funny woman. She teaches at a slower pace than average which is nice because she explains concepts and theories thoroughly. There are no papers for her class, just 2 midterms and a final which is nice. She often rambles about one topic for a long time but that's because she's passionate about child psychology.
Baird has an amazing personality, but if you don't understand her or the class material you're basically screwed. She essentially just reviews the textbook in class, but adds a few important details; so if you don't have time to read before class you'll be confused. She can be condescending with questions, but if you study LOTS you'll be fine
I loved having her as a prof. She moves through topics at an easy enough pace, while covering everything that needs to be covered. You can tell she loves what she does and it makes it interesting for everyone.
She is a nice person. BUT Very strict for short answer and long answer question. If your english is not good enough, please choose other professor. Need to attend her lectures every class, and write things for her preference.
Good prof, gives slides but you have to take notes because most of what she says isn't on the slides and is test material. I bought the book, total waste of money, barely ever used it except for a couple definitions that weren't clear. Exams are easy and straight forward. Pay attention and she tells you exactly what the long answer questions are.
I am terrible at math but she made stats enjoyable and easy! it's not hard to do well in this class, take it!
Baird is an amazing professor! Lectures are engaging, interesting, and genuinely enjoyable. The class material isnt difficult to grasp, but you need to attend lectures to do well because she goes in depth and tells you exactly what the long answer questions on exams will be. Marked on 2 midterms and a final. You need to take child psych with her!
The teacher is great and allowed us to bring in a double-sided cheat sheet to both mid-terms and the final exam -lab is important to attend as it helps clear up things and the TA always dropped hints for the exams -there was two assignments that were super easy and mark boosters
She understands her topic and her explanations are pretty good. Ive had better professors but shes still above average. She did however intimidate me with her response to a homework question I emailed her about. Shes also not very understanding when it comes to deferrals of any sort. All in all, shes a very smart lady and can teach quite well.
Brenda Baird is a great professor! She is really well at explaining the material and her exams are not that difficult if you study. The only thing that I disliked about her is the fact how she can be utterly rude if you ask her a question in terms of the class and the fact that she thinks its amusing to call people out and embarrass them.
Arrogant, rude, unsympathetic, and overall not the nicest person I've dealt with. She's good at her stuff but being a prof also requires manners which she doesn't have.
Shes good at her job and has amazing lectures! Easy to understand without having to read the textbook. Work hard and youll get a good grade. Assignments are good grade boosters. She can be funny here and there but also very harsh as well. She did intimidate me by yelling at a student for some breezy giggling and rolling her eyes consistently.
Did well in the class because shes definitely good at teaching but I absolutely did NOT like her as a professor. She was rude and very unsympathetic towards students. Gets irritated if you ask her a simple question and will call you out in front of everyone. Overall shes good at teaching!!
Professor Baird is hilarious and engaging, her lectures are well worth attending. Tests aren't bad but you need to know the material. My only issue with her is that she's harsh and impatient when answering questions, and cuts students off before they even fully explain what they're asking. Don't go to her for extra help.
Stats is hard in any subject, but Prof. Baird makes it SO MUCH BETTER. She cares about her students and constantly reminds you to stay calm and to focus. Exams are very fair. She gives tons of hints about what will be on them. DGD's are great. This was my first time getting a good mark in a math-based class.
Hands down, the best professor I've had in uni yet. Somehow prof. Baird makes stats easy to learn, and is so charismatic while she teaches. Having her as a prof for 2106 made 2116 a JOKE, you can get through 75% of 2116 just from her teachings alone. DO NOT skip lectures, they were crucial to effectively learning the content.
Dr. Baird is so funny! She honestly is the best stats prof I've ever had! Her tests are super easy and exactly whats covered in class and on the quizzes so no stress!
an absolute sweetheart. tries her best to make you comfortable with her class and wants her students to succeed. positive vibe and always happy.
It's a bird course but be prepared to learn it all on your own.
Felt like I was teaching myself based on an outdated blog. She spells things incorrectly and the information she provides you is incomplete. I did a test based on her notes and got things wrong on the test THAT WERE DIRECTLY FROM HER NOTES! Drop her class unless you like self-taught textbook reading (it's your only hope)!
I hate math but I actually enjoyed her stats class. Shes super funny and helpful and does her best to ensure we understand. She was the best!
Dr. Baird clearly loves statistics and tries to make it as pleasant of an experience as she can. She provides practice quizzes which help a LOT and her exams (2 mid 1 final) are MC. If you study and make the effort to understand and make a good cribb sheet then you will do great. The class avg for our final was 85%, take stats with her!!
Professor Baird is amazing, she is one of a kind! I would differently take her again. We only had 2 midterms and one final, all very straightforward with plenty of time to complete each. Be aware that she cares about application-based material rather than the math itself. In other words, UNDERSTAND IT and you will succeed in her course.
I think this is the only time I've ever understood math. Love this prof. She clearly enjoys her job and makes her lectures very easy to understand. She cares a lot about the application of formulas rather than just computations. Quiz questions reappear on tests and the final exam!!!!
Dr. Baird is such a funny prof, which keeps the class engaging. She is very detailed in her explanations which is great for statistics, as it can be a tricky subject to understand. The textbook she assigned had long chapters, so the readings took a good chunk of time.
Dr. Baird is a very good teacher, but the course itself is a little boring and difficult to learn from. Most content required is included in lectures, but the page-by-page format learning style makes it feel a little disconnected. Reading and understanding the textbook is probably enough to pass. Practice Quizzes are very helpful.
Who knew statistics could be so entertaining! Professor Baird is super funny during her lectures regardless of what we are learning. I did not need to use the textbook once during the class, as all information was presented in class. Test questions rely on your understanding of the material rather than entering large computations into a calculator
Professor Baird is amazing, but for this course, you do not need much to succeed, just read the textbook and do the practice quizzes she posts weekly and you will be good. For that reason, the book tends to be kind of repetitive and boring sometimes, but overall it's a great course with her. evaluations are based on 2midterms and a final, all MCQ.
Gives a decent lecture however extremly boring. She comes off a little harsh, I was shocked to see another review on here on how she replies to questions.. Its true. She has literally almost always cut off a student while speaking before actually hearing what they have to say. Shes VERY vague on what will be on midterms and tests on purpose..
She might seem a bit harsh but I think she just comes off that way at first. She is actually really nice and funny but has an "intense" personality lol. Her lectures are good but can get boring at times. Graded on two midterms and a final. The multiple choice are tricky and worded strangely.
Amazing prof!! She makes stats so easy to understand and exams are really straightforward and very similar to the practice quizzes. Really cares about student success. Lectures are really entertaining. I would 100% recommend taking stats with her! The TA Andie is really helpful too!
Professor Baird was a great professor and had very interesting and engaging lectures. Her exams were fair. If you go to class and study you should do well.
Professor Baird was an excellent professor and made statistics very digestible. She genuinely cares and wants students to understand and do well in the class. Textbook was mandatory, but if you listen to the lectures and understand the concepts in them you should be fine. Overall she was an excellent professor and would recommend.
Really good explanations and easy tests, she's a very fun prof too so classes weren't so monotonous with her.
I recommend Dr. Baird to everyone. I also had her for PSY2105. She understands how stats can be confusing, so she teaches it clearly and ensures that you get what's going on. There are practice quizzes with the same question format as exams (very straightforward). Her TA, Megan, was extremely helpful in tutorials.
Really good prof, but class was asynchronous which didn't help with comprehension
funny, engaging lectures. also had her for statistics, which she made simple to understand. highly recommend dr baird's classes.
A really good prof and is very engaging during lectures. Make sure to show up to class because a lot of stuff she mentions only in class shows up on tests. Also, prepare to do a lot of reading because the textbook content also ends up on exams. The TA I had was a tough grader for written answers so make sure to be super explicit with answers
Prof Baird was a great professor! She discussed how she had been worried about taking this course when she took it, and displayed how even though it may seem scary that she was on our side and with the proper focus students could easily get through it. She discussed mental health issues and was very understanding. Definitely would recommend!
Asynchronous class, 2 non-cumulative mc midterms (25%, 35%),1 cumulative mc final (40%), all online. Love her, made stats easy, tries to relax us. Beautiful funny human being. Gives quizzes to practice (don't count) and exam examples, do the quizzes they help so much, really similar to what is in the exams. Book & going to labs not mandatory
Provides everything you need to know
It was so sad that it was an asynchronous course, she is great and it would have been better to meet her face to face. The course is not hard and explained very well.
In all honesty she was a lazy educator. Since this course was online she just posted a brief summary of the textbook as our lecture and occasionally there would be a small clip of her explaining some things. Be ready to learn everything on ur own and making sure to manage your time well because some weeks the proff makes u read 2 chapters.
Dr Baird made stats so enjoyable and simple! Although there were some times when she got concepts mixed up during the lectures she was always available after class to clear up any confusion which was reassuring. Tries to make the class as lighthearted and enjoyable as possible and the assessments (all online) very closely reflected lecture material
Prof Baird made stats fun and straightforward. Though the online format wasn't ideal, her clear explanations, practice quizzes, and supportive approach helped me breeze through the class. Unstuck study was a great study companion too.
You should 100% take this course with Brenda Baird! The course is online and asynchronous but you don't need to watch the lectures to do well, you can just read the textbook. The practice questions in the textbook are a little bit harder than her quiz or exam questions, doing the quizzes is great practice so I recommend doing that.
Such a great and caring prof, I changed my schedule around so that I could have her as a prof. she's that good. She made the class content pretty simple, even as a person who doesn't really like math, she is the reason I enjoyed 2106. With any other prof, I'm sure the class wouldve been so so much worse.
Taking stats online is the way to go. Dr. Baird reassures us in her lectures not to stress and teaches effectively. The textbook exercises are helpful but harder than what's on the exams. Stay on top of the lecture videos and redo the practice quizzes and you'll do great!
Very slow with the course content; the first 3 weeks was basically nothing and then each slideshow is only one chapter.
Do not take 2105 in-person with her. She says not to copy slides word for word on exams, but if you don't write exactly what she wants you lose marks (no part marks). Lectures are really informative but exams are a lot to memorize.
Definitely recommend Dr. Baird for 2106 online. She is funny and a great stats prof. She understands students fears with the subject and makes content easy to learn. Some chapters are harder than others so make sure to attend labs to ask questions! Lectures are posted so you can go back and learn at your own speed!
Professor Baird is awesome. Encouraging and funny she conveys the challenging course content extremely well. The textbook she uses is fantastic and she was incredibly responsive to questions sent by e-mail. Some of the concepts are difficult, but once it clicks, it clicks. Prof Baird helps make it click. Would definitely recommend for this course.
Brenda Baird is nice, but her class gets boring and long if you watch her videos. Practice quizzes were available and had the exact same type of questions in the exam. The class is very easy. I found it a lot more efficient to skip watching her videos and instead skim through the powerpoints myself to learn the course material.
Dr. Baird is incredible at teaching child development. She makes sure to emphasize important topics that will come up on exams. Her practice quizzes are helpful. The textbook was well made but not really necessary, all important info is conveyed in her lectures. Take good notes on top of her slides and you're set.
This prof is amazing, she knows her materiel and makes it easy for you to learn. The exams reflect the materiel perfectly. If you keep up (which is easy) and do the pratice guizzes you are good. Awesome prof and class
Dr. Baird is super kind and accommodating. For this course, we did practically read the entire text book and the final did cover about 400 pages. I highly recommend her if you take an in-person lecture with her but not so much online. The format of the online class is horrible but the teacher is great. So avoid online but don't avoid her
The course is pretty straightforward, 2 midterms (20%, 35%) and 45% final. All of the material she tests you on is directly from her slides and the textbook. I enjoyed the online format because it let me work at my own pace. She's available to answer questions on the discussion form on bright space. She's pretty funny too. I recommend Dr. Baird!
I LOVE Brenda, she is probably one of my favourite professors. She is very educated and explains everything in depth and truly cares about her students' success. She uses a textbook but it is SO helpful. Class had 2 in-person midterms and an in-person final exam (all with a cheat sheet). She designs practice quizzes for each unit helped so much.
Brenda is an overall good teacher and wants everyone to succeed. Although, when in her class, I find that she teaches as if everyone already has the same amount of knowledge as her on the topic. With this already being a difficult class, having a teacher that moves at such a fast pace makes it very hard to fully understand the material.
Honestly this class is set up so well. It is an online class so obviously most people are cheating but I don't think you really even have to do that to do well. I would definitely recommend taking this class online with her.
okay class... material is straightforward and the prof approachable and accessible. The exams, closed book, are mostly fair, and if you study, you are guaranteed to get >80; however, there are few questions per exam which are super specific, so just take the L there. I think the course should be restructured though as it is rushed at the end.
This class is great, I adore the professor. It's definitely the kind of class in which its possible to get an A+. If you're struggling with the material in the lecture, the textbook explains it very well. I struggle significantly with math and got a 96 on the final. If you work hard, stay ontop of material, and do the practice, you will do well.
This class was great, I like that you're able to study at your own pace. Be warned, there is some material on the exams that is not mentioned in the lectures. Be sure to read the textbook as well as lecture material. Don't use the practice quizzes to memorize answers, they won't be on the exam. Use them as intended: to evaluate how well you'll do.
