She is the most boring instructor I have ever had. She has null teaching skills. Just enters the class and starts writing. Doesn't care to make the already hard course even a bit interesting.
She is the worst prof ever. I don't know what did the department think before appointing her as an instructor.
Agreed to the previous comments. I guess it was the first time she taught this course. Hope she never teaches it again.
i had her as a TA in MATH 380. one of the worse ta. confused. stunned. she has the knowledge but does not communicate it to the students. going through the assignment question is a torture since she could not write properly and mistake was made as she went through the problem. she didn't come prepare enough.
brilliant and helpful teacher with clear math vocabulary
she is some what good, not great. you are better off going to math 150, the proff is better and at least you are not rushing into things
I'm hoping that she was just a poor first impression on the Math professors at this school. She barely explains what she's doing and is incredibly dry and monotone. Some of the TAs in the calculus workshop would be better off lecturing this course.
OMG Brenda is the best prof ever at SFU. I had her for first year calculus and I'm absolutely in love with her. <33
Just horrible, feels like she doesn't know what she is doing most of the time. Makes tons of mistakes each class and need students to correct her. Is she even the teacher or the student?
She makes me think a lot in class when she goes over her notes in class--a good math teacher. She does makes mistakes once in a while but hey...any math teacher does that.
at first I thought she was an okay prof but now after doing calc 2 and 3 she's way better at explaining things
she's really good teacher and she explain things very well. and she always willing to help me understand the materials. on the other hand, exams were very tough.
She is very knowledgeable and tries her best to explain the material to her students. But like any math course, you also need to put in your own effort to understand the material. Make sure you understand her notes and the homework problems because that's what her exams are based on. She's a decent lecturer, but lectures may get a bit boring.
Shes not bad! I had NO calculus background prior and ended up w/ a B which is good. I went to lectures just for notes, study them later, and never asked for help LOL bad student. She had quizzes every friday which forced me to study but they were questions from the hmwk so make sure u do it. midterms= prettyeasy if u understand it. final=hard!
Taking note in class and comprehending assignments are essential. In short, she is nice.
Absolutelly passionate, prof about math, she has a patience and tries to explain in clear way always making sense and gives real life applications.Very approchable and nice, good notes, speaks clearly and encourages questions. Please take her as ur prof.u won't be regreading.
Brenda is an excellent prof! She is absolutely good at teaching calc and is very knowledgeable. she always encourages questions.Really recommend her for future math courses!!
she's extremely clear and easy to understand. very nice, approachable, open to questions and funny. her exams are just like the practice exams, but that might be a math department thing. she's awesome
An amazing prof! She was really nice and helpful, and gave us a lot of example questions as well. Hope she teaches Math 155 next year!
Extremely helpful. Always available when she said she would be. Lectures were fun, which is something considering what the material is. Wish everyone was as good.
awesome prof. i'm bad at math and stuggled with this course and failed with another prof. she made things super clear and easy to understand. lessons were well related to homework, and homework was well related to exams. i ended up getting a B. take calc with her if you can!
Great Prof. Easy to understand. Anglophone. Explains all examples so well. Test questions are exactly as she says they will be and are directly related to the lectures and homework.
An extremely personable and engaging professor who really loves math. She explains concepts very clearly. The weekly quizzes are fair, and the 2 midterms are structured the same way as the weekly quizzes. I'm very glad she's also teaching Math 152 next term!
Really helpful and easy
Brenda was extremely knowledgeable. She seems genuinely interested in the subject. Do the homework, and keep up with it. The quizzes are homework questions so don't miss out on those marks. Midterms were straight forward. I have yet to do the final though, hope it's not too hard! Thank god she is teaching 152 next semester!
She is a great prof, teaches the math very well. Quizzes are based off of homework (good to do them), midterms straight forward, final was a bit tough, but still straight forward nonetheless.
Terrible professor. Can't explain things for her life, I'm astonished she's a lecturer. Highest mark on the Math 151 Final was 94%, in a class of 200 intelligent (for the most part) students, with a median grade of 60%. A 94% max for a first year course? Seems wrong to me. Avoid her, trust me!
She was totally great! Explained clearly and was super helpful! I recommend everybody taking this course.
She easily gets confused in class and quite a few times makes mistakes, then being corrected by students. She doesn't have any "actual" office hours, but she goes to the workshop, but you will be lucky if you get through (very crowded). Not the best prof, but one of the lesser evils when the entire math department is filled with horrible profs.
Brenda is one of the best profs i had. Explains concepts crystal clear and notes were very explanatory. Definitely recommend her if you're up for a challenge. This is much harder than 151,150 so be prepared to study a bit more. Midterms were tough, but averages were low (means a chance of scaling). Best of luck!!
Solid math professor. She explained the concepts pretty clearly in class, and gave easy marks in the form of iclickers and weekly quizzes. If you read the textbook her lecture is fine. All in all one of the better profs I've had.
Absolutely outstanding professor. Actually took the time to answer students questions and gave satisfactory answers. She was available outside of the class for extra help at calculus support sessions. Last, but not least she kept the class interesting and you could tell math is her passion. You want this professor!
Amazing professor. Lectures were entertaining at times, and she was very helpful and encouraged questions. During office hours she would help you with any problem you had.
The quizzes and midterm were really easy. The final mark scaling makes the course really easy
This prof wasn't as bad as I thought she was in the beginning. She came off very nice but the way she taught the material in the beginning of the class was MUCH harder than if I looked in the book or went to the TAs. Overall, pretty good prof, but her exams are a little on the difficult side.
Davison (for math 150 at least) posts math lecture outlines online. Then you attend the lectures and essentially fill the outlines out. This is excellent for studying for finals, because all your notes will be organized by date, topic, and section. She is perfectly clear in lecturing as well
She is the best math prof i have seem so far. she really tries to explain things. highly recommend
very good teacher. connects with students, and is interested in the topic at hand. answers every question clearly.
Shes a pretty great instructor but just following her lectures won't give good marks, got to just practice math questions outside the lecture. Shes nice and helpful, willing to help, clear. Her iclickers give you hope but midterms were HARD (47% and 48% avg). Hopefully she scales to at least 60% because MATH154 getting 70%+ avg in MTs.
Both midterms averages are currently 47%. Lectures spends 50min on material you learn 20min yourself. Skip unless you are a slow learner. Homework content are irrelevant towards exams content. If you aren't prepare to learn 80% of the content yourself, be prepared to be the average 47er. I am above average but it's not worth the time.
She's quite good at expressing her ideas. Funny in lectures and lets students ask questions after she explains problems. Her Midterms are very easy when you've been to every lecture and followed her notes. The week quizzes are a pain. Overall, great prof.
Math-150 was the first ever course I've taken at SFU and Brenda made a pretty good impression right from the get go. The course material is hard and somewhat confusing at times, she's always willing to help out students during workshop hours and even after lectures. After asking her a question, you'll be thinking "why didn't I think of that."
As a lecturer, shes the best one I had. Not only asking for questions after every topic, but also explained everything nicely. People complained about her tests being hard, but it really isn't (both midterms' avg was around 48% but the range of marks was 5% - 95%). Overall, nice prof I had along the semester. It's better to attend all the lectures.
Lectures are super clear, and if you miss a lecture she posts the video online. Homework not mandatory but very helpful. The tests can be a little bit tricky, as like a usual math prof she sometimes throws curve-ball questions, but for the most part she was a good prof.
The course itself is hard and in her exam she pushes questions to the next level to see if you understand. Will do decent if you have practiced questions and studied. Quiz & homework are basic practice but nothing like her exam so practice up! Shes a good prof but again the mark highly varies depending on the effort you put in. Will fail if slack.
Wow! Brenda is amazing: clear, professional feedback as well as good lectures that make math interesting. She can explain anything!
Excellent and well done.
Brenda is an amazing prof in lectures. Everything is super clear and she is willing to answer any questions without hesitation or confusion. The midterm was haaaard. I was getting 68 and 78 on the quizzes and that wasn't even close to representative of the grade I received on the midterm. Do endless practice questions.
Brenda is very clear in lecture, and a great help in the workshop. She has really tough exams though. Great professor, but you'll be doing a fair amount of work if you want to get a good grade in her course.
Brenda is an amazing prof! Her notes are very clear and tests are pretty straightforward if you do all the homework that she assigns and make sure you go to her office hours. She is super approachable and actually makes math kind of enjoyable. I definitely recommend taking this class with her.
Brenda is a great prof! She's clear and knows how to answer your questions if you have any. She'll actually make sure you do the homework and get practice by giving homework quizzes every Friday but they're all pretty easy because it has to be done in 10 minutes so as long as you pay attention in lecture, you'll get those.
Favorite prof ever, I absolutely loved her class! I wish she could teach every single one of my courses.
Tests are tough, but fair. Study hard
Go to her office hours, she really does a good job explaining things to you.
Horrible class! She's so mean. Can you image take math class have to focus on grammar?never take her math course if u not good at English grammar. You will face lowest grade even you have right answer!
Don't know what she assignment meaning. Never take her course ever
Wonderful teacher, really made the 8:30 class rather enjoyable. Midterms and final was fair. If I didn't mess up one question on first midterm might have gotten an A+, but with the little work I had to do in this class (yes, thats how clear she was), I'm very content. Definitely recommend her. Oh, and no assignments, just a simple quiz each week
Brenda is very good professor. Her assignments can be a little short, leaving you wondering if you actually remember the material as assigned. The class itself sucks, but she does her best with it. I'd recommend taking MACM 316 with her.
TBH, if you are good at calculus then you would love to take this course with her for sure since I think she is more like a prof that can make you learn a lots if you love math. However, it's not in my case since I am not really good at math and this course requires a great understanding for the stuff you learned in linear algebra and calculus.
Clear and nice professor. Very difficult exams. Expects a lot out of her students. Despite her being a good lecturer, I'd take it with someone else if, due to the amount of work she'll expect from you.
She's a nice enough person but the course was combination of difficult and boring. Her computing assignments took a long time. Her exams are both difficult and lengthy. She teaches well but expects a lot from her students. I'd advise taking it with another professor.
Super nice! Easy quizzes and reasonable midterm & final!
She's an effective enough teacher, definitely better than the average SFU teacher. With that being said, she's quite a difficult professor. Her exams are far too long and she tries to teach more content than is reasonable is the short class time. I'd say take it with another professor, Brenda is more work than she's worth.
This is a pretty hard course with a lot being covered in a short period of time! Really important to keep up with everything by yourself. Overall a good prof, would recommend her.
Good professor. However, tests are difficult and very long (ie. you need to work at full speed for the whole time or you will not finish).
Fantastic math prof, tests are fair but on the tough side.
She is a great teacher, so clear about what she is saying.
Before lectures Brenda would often come up to students and start conversations with them. She is always interested in making sure that you are understanding the material, and also enjoying the course. Her lectures were funny (now I know that she has a road bike), thanks to the cycloid area and arclength problem.
Very clear and concise teacher. She explains topics and math problem solutions very well, very detailed
Her class is hard to put it simply. However in this class like no other I felt like i learned how to learn and then apply what I have learned. Thank you Brenda, your a great prof and an amazing person. The class is intense with a full course load, but it's worth taking a course with her.
She is a good professor and very helpful. She offers a lot of help before and after class.
There is nothing I could think of that is bad about Dr. Davison. Her lectures are clear and she explains things very well. She will note anything that she does in an inconspicuous way or further explain why she will proceed with a certain method. You can tell that she puts in effort to teach and that she cares for her classes.
Very clear explanations, moderately hard exams. Cant expect better from other profs.
First, her writing is hard to read and she wrote really fast. Second, she is a tough grader. The quizzes and computing reports are hard to do, and they worth 40% !!!!! The midterm was hard with an average of 28/60. PLSPLSPLS avoid her courses. Ur GPA will get fxxked by this course.
Very respectful and puts in effort. Brenda really tries to teach the material well and shows examples of applications in the real world which is useful. She is accessible and obviously puts in a lot of time teaching/grading. This course is challenging, but is expected of a third year level course. Overall, great professor; one of the better ones.
Tough but fair, Brenda is a good teacher who will challenge you with more thought provoking questions. My one complaint against her is that her first midterm was too long, but she apologized for it and made an effort to correct the scores. Taking a class with her is tough but better than taking the easy way out.
She is one of the best prof I have ever taken a course with. The course is challenging but Brenda encourages student tremendously. Especially, she tells a joke every mid-time of class to make sure the class is not boring and more interactive. Really recommended if you're looking for a prof to push you beyond your limit.
Amazing Professor, That's all I have to say!
This math class was definitely difficult due to the fact that sequences and series were included; half of the final focused on these topics. The final average was 57% & average grade was a C. To be successful, go to all of the lectures, practice at 11.7 well, and go to workshop hours; the TAs aren't too bad. Know that the harmonic series diverges.
This class was proven to be very tough as I am not great in math. Failed both the midterms and went into to final with below 50%. I studied hard for the final and Brenda says if you show you've improved in the course, she'll give you the grade you deserved. I walked out with a C. Brenda is amazing and super helpful!
I took Math152 prime with Dr. Davison (I don't think she's actually a doctor but she is to me!) and it was a great experience. She was open to feedback and dedicated to challenging us. When teaching from the notes, her lectures were similar to those in Math 152, but when showing the humour of WolframAlpha or other tangents, she resetted the clock.
This is the second time I took Brenda's course and I got to talk to her more. She is responsible and REALLY NICE, and sometimes humorous during the lecture. She would stay after the lecture so we could ask her questions on time. Also, she held fairly enough office hours and welcomed us go ask questions at any time. Strongly recommend her!!!!!!!
Brenda is good. She is likeable and doesn't hate her students. The exams are designed in such fashion that doing minimal homework each week is more than enough to get a pass in each test.
It's very obvious that Brenda truly wants her students to succeed and cares for you as a person. It was a tough transition to online learning but she tried her best to give weekly assignments which are just participation marks. Weekly quizzes are based on assignments. Tests were a bit tougher but can get at least 70% if did assignments in my case
Great teacher and has a cute dog (ask her to bring him out during Zoom lectures!). There are mandatory assignments each week that I highly recommend finishing (all questions) to solidify your learning. Her exams are a bit tough but also fair. She's also really funny (she said one of the best things she learned this term is the word poggers lol)
Brenda Made the online environment so much more enjoyable and her teaching was excellent, do the assignments and the class should be fine quizzes are based off of the assignments and tests are very fair
Brenda is an amazing prof, as shes alwasy contactable and can answer questions properly and in detail. However, you need to pay attention and undertstand the material, or you'll get lost halfway through. She provided YT vids and did nonmanatory in-person lectures for students. The HW was reasonable and made the course material a bit understandable
Great prof, truly cares about students. The content in this course is tough, but she tries her best to help you. Her lectures are going over questions you have from watching pre-recorded lectures before class. Weekly homework (non-graded) questions are on weekly quiz. Midterms and final are fair. Algebra workshop helps with homework, use it!
Awesome prof.
Calculus 2 is a tough course, yet Brenda makes the class a little more enjoyable and interesting. She really knows her stuff and makes you have a deep understand of the material. Do all the assignment questions and keep on top of the material for each quiz and you should be fine.
Your generic math teacher. Explained things reasonably well, tests and quizzes were reasonable. Everything about this class was fine, but nothing really exceptional.
Even though the exam samples and ranges are provided, review all the assignments and make sure you know them. Otherwise, you may be in trouble.
Brenda Davison was one of the better math profs that I've taken. Her lectures are pretty well done, but frequent and basically mandatory. There are weekly hw assignments, with about 20-25 questions to be done. If you do the hw and maybe an additional hour or 2 of practice, you will breeze through the weekly tests, and maybe even the exams.
Brenda is not a good math teacher. Most of her lectures are thought of on the spot and they clearly have no planning as her notes are all over the place. She constantly stutters and overexplains simple concepts but struggles explaining difficult ones. She also never answers her emails. Despite all this, she is one of the better math prof at SFU.
Literally one of the best math professors at SFU. I took math 152 with bruin but I don't go to his lectures and instead watch Brendas lectures. They are clear, well explained and honestly makes math fun. Take her if you want to learn and if you want to do well.
Hard class but the professor was great.
Brenda Davison's YouTube lectures are the only reason why I have been sorta successful in Bruin's 152 class. For MATH 232, Grading is tough for Computing assignments but overall reasonable for every other part of the class. Explanations are thorough and in class lectures help clarify the material. In short, great professor and highly recommended.
I was very fortunate to have a highly knowledgeable and experienced professor for the course. I'm afraid the class is a bit over my head. However, Weekly office hours helps a lot. Giftson, and Liam They are the best TA. (I'm not sure if you remember me. Thank you for taking care of us!!! Hope everything goes well with you! THANK YOU DR. BRENDA
A solid professor who cares a lot about teaching and is very helpful. She certainly makes math courses a more pleasant experience and I would recommend her to anyone taking one.
follow her video you'll do good can't wait to see her in person.
MATH 232 was a pretty difficult course for me but Brenda's lectures were able to let me pull through, though unfortunately half of them were also done by Randall Pyke (not a great prof). She also offers multiple grading schemes and will use the one that will get you the highest grade. Highly recommend.
Great prof with a lot of enthusiasm for the course which really helped me learn. Made hard concepts really easy to understand and gave a generous marking schematic to help students get a grade they deserved. Would highly recommend!
Usually explains concepts well, but sometimes goes off on tangents that can get confusing. 4 Matlab assignments, 4 quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final - lots of coursework + keep up with homework. The class itself is difficult, but she's a good option - better than Randall Pyke. Unfortunately, they collaborated for their YouTube lectures.
Brenda was one of the math best profs I've had so far at sfu. She made concepts easy to understand, super considerate with marking, didnt take too many marks off for dumb mistakes on quizzes to make sure she was testing concepts. All exams were fair and had an excellent scaling scheme. Effort pays off in this class! Would absolutely take again.
Professor Davison really cares about how well her students are doing. She explains concepts very well using non-mathematical ways. She is the only reason I enjoyed linear algebra.
Truly one of the few amazing professors at SFU. MATH 310 doesn't exist as a class anymore but try to get her with any other courses she teaches.
MACM316 demands a lot of attention, especially if you're rusty on the prerequisites. Brenda tries her best to accommodate and adjust marks. Doing well on quizzes/labs doesn't correlate well into midterm performance (also longer than expected). Decided to drop and focus on less frantic classes. Anyone who finishes labs without TA help is godly.
Brenda is a very kind professor. She does a good job of explaining complex topics by using very understandable vocabulary. She also gives great analogies and examples for difficult problems. Although she records her lectures, I think the learning experience is better when you're there. The tests are fair but I don't think she doesn't make them.
Pls do hw and i cant stress this enuf. Was in the 80s for both mts and ended up with a 100 on the final cuz i finally put in the effort. Brenda and the TAs were super helpful too. But,if u dont have prior coding experience, prepare tissues to cry like me on the computing hw. Thank god i survived this class, and would i take linear algebra again? NO
Amazing prof! One of the best math profs at SFU, with the likes of Jamie Mulholland. Explains content very clearly and you can tell that she knows her stuff. Needed to code in Matlab for the computing assignments, but the code is fairly basic. Very accessible through emails.
Brenda is the best Professor I ever had in SFU. she is very caring and inspiring. I don't like maths but I started like it more because of her. This course is very tough but she tried her best.
Its easy if you dont skip the class or exams.
Watched her math232 lectures on youtube, saved everyone
One of the best professors in the math department, her lectures are kind of speedy but she has audio and video notes recorded. Very reasonable professor in terms of the grading. Won't straight up mark you a 0 for some miscalculation unlike some other professors and missed quiz grades get passed onto the final.
Good prof. However, if you're taking this course with her specifically, just make sure you're not taking another intense/homework heavy course since her quiz assignments have a alot of questions each week. If you don't have previous MATLAB/python knowledge, prepare to do alot of googling to learn about certain functions when doing assignments.
Brenda is an amazing professor who cares a lot about her students' success. This course is very difficult, yet she tries her best to explain things in the time available. Tips: Do not skip class EVER (learned this the hard way after 1st midterm), do the quiz assignments, go to the algebra workshop, understand concepts in your own words. Good luck!
NEVER skip class. Do the homework throughout the week, and don't cram the night before the quizzes. This is an extremely heavy class, so figure out how to manage your time properly. Brenda goes super quickly through the topics so the textbook will be your BFF if you don't understand stuff. Brenda is a decent teacher but is kind of rude to students.
Considering that this class had more than 400 people in it at the same time, Brenda was a fantastic prof. She was able to explain things to the best ability. She also has online lectures that provide better explanations if you are confused. Do all the quiz assignments and ask questions and you'll be fine. Would take another class with her.
This is a really tough class, but Brenda tries her best to communicate the topics in a way it makes sense. She's super forgiving with assignments and quizzes, and does what she can to give the class the most opportunities to improve their grades. Watch her youtube videos if you need more help. And learn some MATLAB before taking this class too....
Extremely difficult class and Brenda has some great reviews but honestly, her teaching style wasn't for me. Her notes move very quickly in class and she leaves a lot of sections blank for you to figure out on your own, which can be overwhelming. Her computing assignment criteria was also super confusing. Be studious and maybe you can pass!
Good professor, very fair with marking and grading. Final exam and midterms were difficult but very fair exams. She is a bit hard to follow at times during the lecture and seems to go on tangents. Overall she is very knowledgeable with the content and effective at teaching. Just be ready to take notes fast and ask questions when you get lost.
She was very helpful, understanding, and accommodating but that class was hard. Practice questions are a must but the exams were pretty fair. However, the computing assignments are way harder if you don't have any Matlab experience. W Brenda!.
Class extremely hard, computing assignments extremely over complicated and useless. She was nice but went way too fast in lectures hard to follow.
Mount Rushmore of Math profs alongside Jamie Mulholland of course. Engaging lectures, maybe a bit quick if you aren't familiar with the content, but topics can easily be reviewed before or after class to solidify understanding. Use online lectures on her yt channel, although some are done by randal pyke (try to go to class for those ones.
She is definitely one of the best math professors I've ever had. Explained concepts well, gave straightforward answers when you asked questions, and genuinely cared for students. Most of the questions in exams and quizzes were related to the assignment problems. Definitely possible to get above 80% if you put in an effort.
Great professor which explains everything in a very intuitive way (at least to me). Made linear algebra at least bearable.
Brenda is an amazing professor. I would recommend her for linear algebra. Midterms can be tricky with a couple proof-type questions, but the final is straightforward and easy for the most part. Do the homework and go to class. These two tips will be more than enough for anyone to do well.
Brenda Davison is among the best professors in SFU's Mathematics Department. What I like most about her is her ability to compress abstract ideas into understandable material using analogies or examples. Moreover, she is always willing to listen to student concerns, is highly knowledgeable in her field, and is evidently passionate about teaching.
One of the best profs i have had till now, brenda is straight away the best prof for math 232. 232 is an interesting course. Loved it!
Brenda is absolutely amazing and super knowledgable. She makes concepts crystal clear and always gives extremely detailed, straightforward explanations. There's lots of homework and it moves fast but Brenda is concise and will teach you all the relevant stuff. I also appreciate her humour. MATLAB is easy to learn and exams were tough but fair.
Brenda's very passionate about teaching. Midterms were decently hard, but the final was relatively easier. There's lots of homework assigned (not for marks) but practice is definitely needed to do well in the course.
As you probably heard, MATH 232 is not easy, but Brenda was an excellent professor and made the course somewhat enjoyable. My only complaint would be that the biweekly MATLAB assignments felt a little detached from the course as they did not always have to do with exam material. If you want to do well in this course do lots of textbook questions.
Brenda was awesome, but MATH 232 was hard, always be on top of your stuff and pratice ALOT or else its gg for you my friend. Take advantage of her office hours and AW workshops, she and her TA's are veryy knowledgable people. Overall great prof :)
Material builds on top of each other and is understandable once enough repetition is done. Professor provided good lectures and slides. Homework is good to do as it allows you to get more practice in and to understand concepts. Tests were also fair. Would take her again for future courses.
Brenda Davison is a great instructor. If you have the option to take her - do it. MATH232 itself is a difficult class, but she explains concepts well and doesn't waste students' time. Quizzes and assignments are easy and fairly graded. Tests are hard, but still graded fairly. Do ALL the homework, if possible. It really helps.
Dr. Davidson is an excellent professor, if there was a higher rating than 5 she would receive it. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate. She explains concepts in an engaging way. Her office hours are helpful and you can tell she cares about students. She never hesitates to answer questions either. Take MATH 232 with Dr. Davidson!!
Math 232 is a hard class, not because of the content itself but the content is new and never before seen. However, Brenda makes it bearable through her organization and dedication. She is on time, exams are for the most part, fair and you can tell she wants you to understand the material. This class will require much of your time and dedication.
Linear algebra was the hardest class the I have ever done. However, Brenda's office hours made Math 232 less stressful. She's a very forgiving person, and does everything she can to pass every. If you want to do well in the course, you'll have to study a lot.
She's alright, not the best prof I have had. I felt like she went too fast for some of the materials. However, she is definitely better than few other profs at the math department. You definitely need to put in your own work and practice as much as you can.
She is funny and knowledgeable but linear algebra is just a difficult topic to grasp. She sometimes goes too fast and her work for some examples is hard to follow. Personally, near the end of the course I just stopped trying to understand her lectures and learned from the textbook instead.
Good prof, just do the work and you'll get a good grade, this is not a hard class, don't listen to anyone who tells you it is.
Pace is really fast and it is very important to grasp the first few week's material since its all built on that. Brenda's pretty good and she has past lecture recordings on youtube. Midterms and final are easier than anticipated.
Favorite math prof I've had at SFU. Explains things clearly, gets straight to the point, always available to answer questions and truly seems like she cares about you succeeding and understanding. She has a passion for this and it shows, it passed onto me. No one said it's an easy course if you don't put in the work, btw. Thank you so much Brenda.
MATH232 with Professor Davison can be challenging, but her lectures and office hours make it manageable. Definitely use the textbook and do all the homework - it really helps. Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for exam prep too.
This class was pretty hard for the first units because of how different the concept of matrix math is compared to calculus; but after the initial intro units, it gets better. Brenda does her lectures at 1.5x speed so be ready to take notes and actually pay attention.
