hard, but very very helpful. answered all questions, offered help. uses humor in class frequently
Weekly quizzes are a pain, but easy if you read the material. An excellent professor, I loved the two classes I took from her and would take her's again.
good teacher! take her!
She is an excellent professor, I actually injoyed her class!
Very good prof..love her
weekly quizzes and activities which require you to attend every class. Lots of busy work, but nothing too tough.
A good teacher, medium difficulty, very clear about due dates and assignments.
Brenda is an awesome instructor with tons of knowledge in business. She uses humor and is very approachable if you need help. She makes herself available via personal e-mail and office hours! Highly recommended! Grades are based on 3 noncumulative exams and a business plan (group project).
Awesome Prof.
While the class was very in-depth and you had to put forth a lot of effort, the class discussions and assignments were worthwhile and fun. Her enthusiasm is contagious, made me think critically about ethics and how my personal bias fit within the current business climate. Overall it was a great class and i don't think she should dumb down the class
Awesome teacher! Very inspirational and helpful. She made the class interesting and she engaged us all in intriguing discussions. She was enthusiastic and very intelligent in her discipline. She made us want to achieve. Highly recommended.
Brenda is quite cool. You can tell she's really into the topic and passionate about teaching. Her classes are entertaining.
She is part of the reason I'm taking more business classes. With a class of 30 +/-, she will still try to get to know you by the end of it. Might not be the most sensitive around, but what else can you expect from a business teacher?
she is the coolest teacher I have... she is very clear and the quizs after each chapter is easy I want to take more classes that she teaches... shes the coolest
Brenda is a very cool business prof. Very fair, but she makes you do the work. Nothing tricky or sneaky, just show up, do the reading, and the daily quizzes help make you do that. She's always available to help you. Big group project in this class, but it's fun.
The only downside to this class was a group project that I completed with little to no help from my teammates. Except for that (which should have little to no bearing on my judgement of the Prof.) the class was excellent. Ask about extra credit assignments and you shall receive a variety of opportunities.
She is very kind to students though many think she is not. She wants to show you that there is a consequence to not organizing your time, not doing your work, and not coming to her early if there is a problem. If you do your work ANYONE can get an 'A' in this class. If you can not handle this class, you can not handle the real business world.
Good teacher, attetndance not mandatory, but daily quiz worth 5 fairly easy points, gives several extra credit opportunities, very helpful if you ask and visit during office hours. glad i chose her.
She is a good professor, but some of the comments in the business plan confused all of us, and she didn't clarify it. Good use of textbooks as there's daily quiz, so that you must read it before lesson!
The class is relatively easy, but it is next to impossible to get an A in the class, she requires 93% for an A which is ridiculous, because losing minimal amount of points on the daily quiz will greatly affect you ability to get an A. I am going to end up taking the class again to change my A- to an A.
Great overall, I'm not sure what the last poster is talking about, seems mad because he couldn't get an A with all the extra credit opportunity? Hmm...
O.K Teaching style but, very, very confusing comments on our rough drafts. By the way, there is a big group project in this class, much more than what you'd expect a 101 class to have.
Great class! An "A" is within reach but you must earn it by being in class everyday. Brenda makes the subjects intersting and trys hard not to interject too much of her own opinion. This class is worth the time and $$.
She's pretty awesome.
I learned alot and we had fun.
Two parts to the class. The book/powerpoint tests and the Large group project. There is a fair amount of outside class work here but you will learn alot.
Helpful on teaching general concepts and fundamentals but not really on "test" material. Offers plenty of chances for extra credit. Fun
This teacher is very demanding and in my opinion rude. She's highly opinionated and pass on her opinion about ethics. She will go on about Abercrombie on our time for over 10 minutes clearly showing her bias. I'm not taking this class to learn about her opinions. I had interest in class, then when I attended her class I wanted to drop
Good teacher, had a great time in the class. Didn't think I would enjoy the class at the beginning, but enjoyed every minute of the class. Time management was an issue and a lot of reading, and quizzes. Come prepare for class and you will do fine.
Easy class but she takes her self way too serious. Lots of busy work
Compared to all the other BA101 teachers she is probably the best. You have daily mini-quizzes and a huge project to do, but other than that the class is very straightforward and easy. The group project ends up being a major part of the grade, so make sure to be tedious, because she's a tough grader on it.
Good prof, lots of work
Great class! One of my favorites for sure. She is pretty hard, but nothing tricky. She requires you read 1 chapter before the class and has a quiz on it, plus a presentation and lottts of extra credit ops. I rarely did the readings, and got a B+... probably the best grade to effort ratio at PSU. You will get exactly what you put in. Thanks brenda!!
Great teacher! Really knows what she is talking about when it comes to the subject. Interactions with the class made the class interesting. Group project was simple and fun. You MUST attend at least 90% of the classes in order to get an A...
Brenda is an amazing teacher! She is extremely passionate about what she teaches and makes class fun! It is important to have good attendance, or doing well in the class is hard. Overall, great class and good teacher!
Hated the class.
She's very nice and helpful. She's also detail-oriented
Don't take this teacher. SO MUCH BUSY WORK, if you miss ONE class you are penalized at least 5 points, she won't let you make up ANYTHING. Even if you are a hard worker you are never good enough for her. Tough grading, she talks short to students, she boasts about herself, and will single people out a lot. Made me feel she doesn't care about us.
Although this class had a lot of busy work and the material may have been long, I still feel that this class was very useful and will help in the business environment. Remember that this is college so it is supposed to be hard and a lot of work.
This is PSU business school and should expect to work hard at this level. Go to WOU if you want somebody to hand you a business degree. I was one of the students Brenda singled out in class; she did this because she knew I wasn?t paying attention, so she does care about us students.
well she is a hard grader, but I think it helps applying in real life situation. I didnt like her the fact that her midterms are hard. Class average score was between 75% and 85%. This class shouldnt be about passing a midterm test. i think if you do the time you get a b or a. Only 2 or 3 people received an A Business ethics shouldn't be this har
This class has a lot of small assignments, but they are easy and don't take a lot of time. She makes the class fun and isn't a very hard grader
Nice lady, challenging class yet rewarding. Love it! She also has a nice smile :)
I took BA 101 from Brenda and really enjoyed her class. She does a nice mix of different learning techniques, and manages to make the class fun, interesting, and doesn't just hand you an A (which is a good thing in my opinion). I don't feel she taught an overly difficult class, but it was challenging. I plan to take BA 385 form her soon.
She is an amazing instructor! She cares about her students and she genuinely wants them to pass. Although there is a lot of reading, she shows slide shows before every quiz, which are super helpful.
Great teacher, class is very organized and you know which chapters to read if you miss a class. Midterm and final are all multiple choice and she gives lecture with power point every class before a 5 point quiz. She has a good attitude and cares about her students.
This was the second class I've taken from her and I loved it. She really draws in real world experience to this topic. There's a group project, but it's not that difficult if you follow her instructions. She's always available to help her students. I am much more interested in corporate social responsibility now!
Brenda is an amazing instructor. She is able to keep a very large auditorium of students (at 8am) engaged and working on real world and international issues. Assignments are tough, though necessarily so. I look forward to transferring back to PSU after my Associates & taking more classes from her.
Helpful. Read the book and do good on the daily quizzes. It will give you a good introduction to business.
Brenda is a great professor, her lectures and clear and to the point, assignments are interesting, and she truly cares about students as people. I really appreciated how parts of the class were devoted to giving advice to better students' lives, not just teaching the textbook. Overall-great teacher, clear expectations, I'd definitely recommend.
This class is too group focused. PSU has too many age range (from 18yr old to 40+year olds),so if you get a bad group, you will suffer. She is not a bad teacher, but i felt for a 101 class, she asked too much. There was only 15 points extra credit MAX. Attendance was required because of quizzes everyday
Great teacher! She was very helpful in any questions we had to ask. Her lectures were fun and informative. Her group project was great. Make sure to attend every class for the quiz she gives out. Visiting her in her office hours also very beneficial. Overall great instructor!
Clear. Concise. Helpful. Wise. All the things that make up a good professor. There is a group project, but it's not worth too many points. Midterm, Final non comprehensive. Daily quizzes will add up points by end of term. Small paper, and weekly cases to do, but there is an extra credit activity, too. Overall I loved the class, but I do read and go
She is very nice and clear about the materials. The team project is pain.
I loved Brenda, her class changed my worldview! She is so passionate about business and society! You will learn a lot! Chapter quizzes each class, tests are not too bad, they have a written portion. Cases pertaining to the course are fun! Would never take this class with any other teacher! She is nice, but straightforward and presents a lot of info
She asked too much for a BA 101 class and she is very intense. Felt as if she treated us like children, but expected us to act like adults. Gives plenty of extra credit opportunities to make up your grade if you get in an awful group.
She is passionate. There are a lot of opportunities for extra credit. For 101, make sure to get a good group or your grade will suffer. She has weekly quizzes, the final was similar to the quiz. Attendance is mandatory.
There are quizzes everyday in this class, but she a great teacher and she gives lots of opportunities to gain extra credit points. I would recommend this teacher. She is passionate about what she teaches and she knows her stuff.
Great teacher and class. A lot of work so keep up, but work is fun and interesting. I learned a lot from her. I would take her again if I could. She loves her students and even made a point of talking to me after I was no longer her student. She is passionate about business ethics as well. Her class was not hard but you have to earn a good grade.
I loved this class. She used the book, and had daily quizzes that were you attendance points. The project in the class can be stressful but make sure you communicate with your group. Overall she is awesome!
Brenda is one of the most challenging and helpful professors I have ever had. Her business plan project was tough but it really showcased the important aspects of the business world. She was very friendly and cared about her students success.
I had a horrible time in this class. I find her arrogant, and someone full of herself. A good job is a b- on her weekly cases. I'm glad it's all over
I am not a business major and had no real plans to take business but this class made me seriously consider it. The business plan project was very challenging but rewarding. Maybe a few times she took things a little too seriously but it was nothing ridiculous. I really enjoyed her class.
You learn a lot, however, unless you're dead set on becoming and entrepreneur don't take the class. Brenda's expectations are unclear, class was disorganized and she was often belittling (I don't think she realized it). She's extremely knowledgable, but the class lacked organization. You learn a lot, in a patchy manner.
Anyone not sure about BA should take her class; I've taken several. She's strong, funny, easy-going & approachable & brings a lot of business knowledge and experience to her classes. You will not be rewarded for procrastination. I highly recommend her to all my fellow students. If you don’t like her the problem is probably you.
Brenda offers a lot of freedom in this class, which is helpful because it simulates the real experience of trying to start a business from scratch. The project is fun and competitive and Brenda is always approachable, fun and supportive. If you are too scared for a strong female personality then you should pass on this class.
She is prepared but has a lot of assignments to do. Her class requires a lot of things to do. She is very hard at grading. I do not agree with all what she says especially when Brenda opens up a discussion about other country's issues. Be prepared in her class cuz she requires a lot of reading and exams.
Great passionate and knowledgeable teacher. If you're lazy, you're not going to get an A. Definitely earned grade but makes you proud at the end for getting a good grade. 5pt quizes every class per chapter. Extra credit is given- take advantage of all. Midterm/exam is not that hard if you read chapters and come to class. Fun. Highly recommended.
Brenda is passionate about her subject, unfortunately that passion has led to unrealistic expectations of a 100 level class. You will have a pretty standard reading load, two chapters per-week alongside two quizzes. Midterms/finals are multiple choice and pretty reasonable. The flaw is grading group projects; she expects 300 level work quality.
the teacher is horrible
Brenda is an instructor it helps to build a relationship with. She expects a lot of her students so it is important to stay up on assignments and readings to give them time to sink in. Much of her course requires critical thinking. Not an easy A. A lot of work. Very knowledgeable instructor. Worth rising to a challenge for. Learned a lot.
If you need an elective, this is a fine one to take. Attendance is mandatory because she gives quizzes every day, but they're pretty easy. One big project--takes a while, but not difficult. Exams aren't bad.
Brenda made it pretty easy to get points because of the 5 pt. quizzes daily and the extra credit she offered. The only thing that made the class not the easiest was the group project. Make sure to be honest with the meeting minutes because if she knows what's happening at the weekly meetings, she can help with any problems the group may have.
Brenda is an excellent teacher who fosters intelligent discussion and actual learning in the classroom. The classes were interesting and sometimes funny, and Brenda included a lot of real world examples as well as personal examples that were obviously not part of the original course.
Brenda is a wonderful professor. She cares about her students success and does all she can to motivate them. I loved her BA 101 course. There is one big business plan. It would suck if you had a poor group. Your attendance is necessary. Read the book-Also necessary. Altogether I learned a whole lot from her course and would recommend it.
Entered her BA 101 class with no previous business experience and somewhat interested. By end of class was completely settled in Business and am truly satisfied. Can't wait until BA 211!
Everything she requires and expects from you is laid out so no reason to not be prepared in her class. Yes there is a lot of reading, but isn't that college? She's a beautiful person with a great outlook and perspective on the topic and is willing to give that knowledge to anyone who cares.
Great time teacher. She is very helpful and it seem like she is their to help to succeed not just in her class but in life. Very encouraging teach. Teaches lesson with passion and makes sure everyone understand what is taught.
I really enjoyed this class and Ms. Eichelberger was very helpful. She always responded to my emails & took the time to answer any questions I had. The class was a lot of work and worth it because of the wealth of personal financial information. If you want to learn how to increase your credit score, invest, this is a must-take class!
This class is very relatable to real life business. The lectures are pretty entertaining. I would have to say that her class, as a 101 class, is pretty tough. Although the daily quizzes are pretty easy (just read off the powerpoints the night before), the group project sucks if you have a bad group, it's a lot of work!!!
She was very knowledgeable and engaging, and the class wasn't hard at all. It was fun for me, because I had a great group to work with, but I can see how it could be a disaster for those who hate business and get stuck with some bad group members. Overall though, I loved her!
Amazing SBA prof. She's very passionate about what she's teaching, and often gives examples of her own experiences to relate to the curriculum. She's not the easiest grader, but gives great feed back and is always willing to answer questions and help you during or outside of class. She knows her stuff, and really cares about her students.
She's very helpful and shows how much she cares about her students to succeed.
Brenda seems to know what she is talking about and has a lot of experience in her field although she did not get her undergrad in anything business related. She is pretty nice for the most part. This class is mostly self paced with quizzes every class on the readings. No guidelines to the midterm and the work is super time consuming.
Brenda really cares about teaching and puts a brings a lot of external material to lecture. Shes a great professor but pretty tough, she has quizzes, projects, midterm and final and they are all tough but you will learn a lot! (I took ba101 and also her personal finance class)
Online FIN-218 with Brenda was a nice experience. The workload felt a little overwhelming the first week or two, but then I got used to it, and it was fine. She gives her lectures via pre-recorded video, which was great (except for a few videos she needs to go back and update with the new textbook material). The quizzes and exams were pretty easy.
Very informative class. She gave clear cut instructions and expectations, and the course was well organized. The class consisted of reading one to three chapters a week, quiz(zes) on the chapter(s), a discussion post, and a lecture. The three papers for the quarter included a complication of worksheets and discussions of the worksheets.
Brenda is a really nice lady, but she is pretty disorganized and has a take away points for silly reasons mentality. She has students grade other students daily work which can waste time. Lots of busy work in this class, but if you show up and put in an effort, you can pass with an A or B.
She's very caring. Accessible outside of class. She cares about everyone and wants students to rely think about how to make life better. I've taken multiple classes from her because I enjoyed just how much she cares. She also funny. She runs all kinds of student success programs, just ask her. If you need someone she's always there for you.
She does require a lot out of you yet she does explain everything pretty well. I was so confused with the sectional projects and surprising I did well. I would suggest do every worksheet required so it makes it easier when sectional plans are due.
Brenda is passionate about the subject & brings in good guest speakers but teaches as if everyone's 19, which is frustrating if you're older. A LOT of the grade is based on a group project so if you get duds, expect to do all the work and no extra points for it. She's confusing a good chunk of the time & occasionally condescending. A solid meh.
Brenda is a truly great professor. She's going to make you work, but if you put in the time and effort, she will reward you for it. No tricks or anything, her teaching and grading is very straight forward. GREAT professor!
Brenda is one of my least favorite professors at PSU. She is unorganized and unclear. Grading is harsh and assignments aren't fully described. At the beginning of the term she said she welcomes questions and clarity, however when a student asks a question she is disrespectful and makes other people answer it. I don't recommend her.
The key facters I like, is she was very clear on what she wanted. What she wanted ,is you to see all sides of a issue and to understand the issue from all sides not just one side! She help you be a better person and stakeholder! I would say for 385 class she hit mark and goes past it!!!
I really enjoyed this class. It seemed to be one of the more useful business core classes. I really liked Brenda, she had the class very well organized and I would love if other classes I still have to take would be offered by her.
Homework must be handed in in-person, not through email - if turned in after class starts, there will be a point deducted; following break it will not be accepted. Team case debate didn't have 100% clear instructions and she adds rules after the fact. You spend more time watching debates over cases than learning the material that you get tested on.
Brenda is an amazing and a caring professor. The debates and cases is my favorite part of the class. If you attend all her classes, engage in class, and follow her guidelines, you will do well.
People are very divided on Brenda, but I adored her teaching. She is an amazing person with so much experience to share. If you are a good student and put in effort, you will be recognized and rewarded for it. There is a lot of work, BUT it is designed with a purpose in mind. Trust in Brenda, she knows what she's doing!
An Ok teacher, but a little condescending. Seems to think that her students are freshmen and treats everyone that way.
She lacks respect for students and treats you like a 5 year old. Her instructions do not match between d2l, the assignment itself or a rubric so it's a wild guess. She speeds through lectures and then gives you a quiz at the end like you retained anything she said in the last five minutes. So read the 30pg chapters every day and you might be okay.
Brenda is hands down the best instructor I have ever had. Class structure is very clear and you must attend and engage in lectures to do well. She understands how to tie concepts from material to every area of real life and truly wants to see her students succeed. She'll go the extra mile with you. You will invest in your future with this class.
Clear agenda for course. Read the textbook and prep for weekly quizzes. Participate in class. 3 cases, one MT, one final. Great lectures. Cares for students so much. If you are stuck as her for help and she will happily help. Learned so much. Great class.
Course covers old cases and I don't see that she has experience in presenting real cases. The professor doesn't know about foreign businesses when she brings examples. Be ready for taking quizzes, tough grader, and reading other materials.
Brenda is a solid teacher. Cares about what she teaches, has a huge emphasis on class participation, and allows us to discuss controversial topics in current events that are unethical.
As a finance major, the course felt very elementary in my opinion. I felt like the instructor wasn't as personable as she could have been. Everything was generalized towards a naive student audience. If you're a more mature adult returning back to school and already have credit cards and know about interest and stuff, this class will be a breeze.
Meant for Freshman students. She makes you complete assignments according to her standards for full credit which is not helpful at all. You re-write your entire resume to fit her template, and MUST come up with like 12 financial goals (even if they absolutely do not apply to you or you don't have that many) to get full credit.
On the final the hand written case MUST conform to her word count specifications. She spends 90% of class lectures about her personal opinions in 10% teaching. Extra credit may not be fully available to everyone or possible for those with busy schedules. Refuses to adjust teaching if students are confused. Office hours limited and inconvenient.
Brenda is not a good college professor. Her teaching style would be better fit for freshman in HIGH SCHOOL. She gives daily quizzes and you get a point for writing your name. She spends the entire class preaching her personal opinions and spends little to no time on the slides. GOOD LUCK taking notes. If you don't follow directions you fail
Brenda is a great professor. Need to show up for daily quizzes which are 36% of grade but easy. Midterm and final are both 20% of grade, 4 cases 20% also, discussions are 4%. She really knows her material and its all relevant. My only negative is she is very liberal, pushes agenda a little far for me. But if you show up and try, its an easy class
Brenda is a fantastic professor and really cares about her students. Class is mainly midterm(20%), final(20%), daily quizzes(36%), 4 cases(hw: 20%) discussions( 4%) Need to show up each class for the quizzes, but very easy class. Gives extra credit chances, and goes above and beyond to help you in class, and life. Take her!!
Brenda was amazing!! I took her for BA385 business environment and learned so much! She is passionate and truly cares about her students. I would highly recommend taking a class with her!
I enjoyed Brenda's class much more than I expected to! She's one of the most engaged professors I've ever had for an online class. While the concepts were a bit elementary, I still found myself learning A LOT in this class that can be applied to real life. The homework can be time consuming, but it was also fun and interesting so not too bad.
She is the most prestigious and respectful professor that I ever had. Her lectures are so contentful and current event approaching. Her class structure is so interesting to attend with class debate and discussion. I really enjoy and learn alot.
While I don't think she is horrible she does talk a lot about her life and opinions with only about 20 minutes or less covering the actual lecture a week. The directions for the cases are confusing. A model to her is nearly any topic in the book it does not need to have a diagram to count; so 6 sigma or digital piracy will count for example.
Brenda is a great teacher! Truly cares about her students. Mainly: midterm/final, 3 assignments, and in class quizzes(almost every class, but easy.) Only negative is that ethics/environmental things cost a lot of $$ and I feel like that could have been talked more about. Overall awesome though, do yourself a favor and take her for 385.
I highly recommend this course to anyone regardless of their major! It has great lifelong information that can help you plan and meet your life goals. Brenda is very organized and kind. There is a lot of homework throughout the quarter, but it is all in prep/makes the final paper super easy.
Although there may be a lot of homework for this course, Brendas grading is way too picky and unclear. Very minor mistakes means you lose a whole point for an assignment. Maybe if she wasnt so picky with the grading I wouldve enjoyed her class a lot more.
