Teaches more women history than anything. Not recommended.

Ms. Farring is a pretty good teacher who lectures a lot. The lectures are not boring but she gives the official version of history. you don't learn anything new or interestin. I took her during the summer, less material. Very attractive woman.
The same old history; which means very little that favors an inclusive perspective for minorities. Which is sad since this is a Women's History class. Cold, and unorganized, euro-centric. I dropped the class. Don't bother. Wait until you transfer....
Farrington was the worst teacher ever! she doen't even lecture, all she does is show stupid videos that have absolutely nothing to do with what's on the test. this class killed my GPA. Don't take it!!!!!!!!!
She makes you watch movies, her lectures can be boring, and she is really unorganized. She's either late or doesn't show up HALF the time!!! She does love to put her 2 cents in about women's history even though it aint the class you are taking!!!
Farrington is always punctual and present for class. She is challenging, yet fair. She shows videos, but always tests on their content. She provides comprehensive study guides, so if you don't do well or can't keep up,you have no one to blame but yourself
If you are asking for a challenge take Farrington. Students are left to teach themselves, she barely lectures. Instead she shows videos. Very unorganized. Second half of class is easier then 1st. Do the extra credit, you will need it. Only 2 test and a final. Mostly essay. Passable, but challenging.
I took Ms. Farrington, for history 11 and 25 and i passed both with A's. her class is not hard or unorganized. just do the reading and there is no way you can possibly fail. She's a really good teacher who knows what she's talking about!
She is the worst teacher!!! I recommed you do not take her. She makes us watch videos that aren't based tests she doesn't give lectures. Her tests are extremely hard even if you study. I barely passed with a C. Take someone ... anyone else besides her
does not explain things well test are way too hard you will never get higher than a D.
She is hard but it's not impossible to pass her class. Just read and buy coffee before going to class.....her lectures are boring and many of the movies she show is pointless.
I don't know why people think she was hard. She gives out LOTS of Extra Credit, two tests, no homework, and you do group work 90% of the time. She also shows a kick ass Vietnam War video near the end of class. She is not hot but she is not ugly either. I ended up with a B in the class.
This woman can not teach to save her life.
I actually showed up to class and did the readings and got an A. People who whine about not getting taught by her need to go back to high school. It is the students job to know the material. Her stories about the past pres. were funny and lectures covered all the material.
this woman can not teach to save her life. she cant lecture very well and she shows movies that have nothing at all about what she is to be teaching her class. if u like to read and teach yourself then this is a perfect class for you.
This teacher is excellent. She is passionate about her subject, and she also expects a lot from her students. I recommend you don't take this class if your writing and reading skills are weak. You can't pass this class with poor study habits.
Farrington is a university style teacher. she gives challenging tests but not impossible. If you want to learn about women in american history and are willing to put some effort into the class, take her. Yeah some reading is involved but she doesn't expect you to be a genious. just keep on track and plan ahead.
She is kinda scatered with her lectures and her test come in two parts, the essay is easy, just study. The multiple chioce seem easy but the questions ask the most obscure things (not easy)!!!
Very interesting teacher, gives good lectures. Her class is hard if you're not willing to study, but other then that is interesting and I learned a lot. No homework and you watch a lot of videos, gives lots of extra credit. Nice lady too

I forbid anyone from taking her class. SHe is a nice lady but does NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH. Her lectures are pointless as none of it is on the tests, and she is very unorganized in her lectures as well. Her tests are extremely difficult. Only those with a real passion for history might be interested but i warn you. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Disorganized instructor, but gives study guides. Extra credit are essays. I did fairly well, surprisingly just by studying the study guides and reading the novel. She's a nice lady, but her teaching style is just all over the place. My fiance and I took the class together and oh boy did he complain, but I surely did like her.
she's one tough teacher. mrs.farrington assigns a lot of group assignments. Her test consist of a multiple choice/an essay (which she will give 6 topic in advanced and 3 will appear on the exam; you pick one out of the 3). hint: if your taking her just to pass by, then you might suggest taking another teacher. she's no joke! she's not easy!
Tough but fair. Highly structured class. Went out of her way to help me prepare for the midterm. Highly recommend!
Unless you read every page of THREE books you will not pass this class. It is extremely hard. There are only Three tests the entire class which doesn't leave you much room to do poorly on one. She dresses horribly and brags about how many books she has written and how many other colleges she teaches at. She teaches like she's at Berkley.
Brilliant and knowledgable--excellent class but not for the faint of heart.
Loved the class--a real challenge but I learned a lot. Great lectures plus extra credit!
Great Teacher
Awesome class--really sparked my interest! A real challenge but not too difficult if you keep up with the work.
Great Teacher. Sparked my interest as well. Uses films, study guides, lecture and group lessons. Some extra credit. Need to come focused to class or else it'll be hard to keep up with the work. ;)
??
She seems to be super smart and gives interesting lectures and assignments. For authoritative and clear about what she wants from you as a student.
I took Prof. Farrington for Hist 11 and she teaches the same way for Hist 25. Uses many resourses like films, books, lectures. Grades fairly. Test are multiple choice plus essay question. Gives extra credit. Tells funny stories. Very articulate and professional in the her style of teaching. I enjoyed her in both subjects.
Summer Class moves fast, Instructor makes a boring subject very interesting, alot of group work.
This class was amazing! I'm not a history buff whatsoever, but she made it exciting and easy to comprehend. The movies, the lectures, and the quizes were easy to understand. Take her if you want to stay awake and have fun throughout the semester in a history class.
She gives a lot of extra credit for in-class assignment. Her class is very hard when the tests come up because most of the test questions are very very hard and tricky. It required a lot of reading. She did not review any terms in her study guide for the test. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS or else YOU'LL DROP IT AFTER THE MIDTERM EXAM.
Good teacher, lectures a lot but very interesting. Hard but fair grading. If you keep up with the lecture notes you will do fine.
Great teachee, keep up with the lectures you will pass
Pros: Very nice and cares about her students. I leaned a lot of new vocab because she used a lot of intelligent words. Gives a lot of info during her lectures, which is good for note taking. She goes over the midterm and final and says exactly what is on the tests. Lets us go early often. Cons: Group work. Tests are half essay, worth 50% of test.
Interesting lectures and videos shown - she tells good stories and likes to hear ours. If you don't read the textbook(s) and keep up with the lectures, you won't do as well. You need to use all material provided. Tests consist of multiple choice and an essay. My only complaint is she doesn't always respond to emails. Otherwise it was a pleasure~
Nice teacher but very unorganized, misses alot of classes. Lectures are boring and pointless and have nothing to do with whats on the test. Essay/multilple choice midterms and finals, very hard! if you dont read everypage of the book then you will fail this class, all in all a very vauge teaching method. take someone else.
GOOD TEACHER. CARES ABOUT THE STUDENTS. iF YOU SHOW YOU'RE iNTERESTED iN THE CLASS SHE WiLL REMEMBER THAT WHiLE GRADiNG. SHE CAN BE VERY COOL. SHE MiSSED A FEW CLASSES& SAYS SHE NEVER DOES..BUT SHE DOES. THE STUDY GUiDE REALLY HELPS FOR THE TESTS..50% MULTiPLE CHOiCE& 50% ESSAY. i THOUGHT i WOULD DO HORRiBLE iN THE CLASS BUT ACTUALLY DiD PRETTY GOOD
I was so nervous taking an online class for the first time but this class was great. All you need to do is read the book, highlight the txt relating to the question, type a Discussion response, comment response, Midterm and final response and you will be fine. If any trouble, she always responds to emails and she has phone # in case of problems. :)
I took her class during the summer and it went by fast, but it wasn't hard at all. She lectures and shows interesting videos. She also gives out allot of extra credit that really helps you in the end.The extra credit points can raise you up a letter grade. If you read the book, take notes and do the extra credit you will get an easy A.
I took this class online. There is a required discussion board every couple of weeks as well as an essay due for the mid term and final. I did all my assignments, with the exception of a couple student feedbacks. She would not give me anything over an 80% on any assignment and that was when she was being generous. SHE GRADES HARD. Do your reading.
Prof Farrington is basically an overpaid editor. This course should be offered "in class"- not just online. The book is very bias and Prof requires its contents only to be referenced-no other documents.A great subject yet no interaction leaves this online class lacking the attention it deserves. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS @ LBCC OR WITH THIS PROF
I was trepidatious when I enrolled in Farrington's HIST 11 online; however, my anxiety dissipated as I read the explicitly detailed syllabus. She is professional and provides thorough constructive feedback. I valued her consistently high standards and feel better prepared because of them. In short, I was educated rather than coddled. Quality class!
I took this class during the summer and I really enjoyed the class. Her lectures are a little fast (mostly verbal no slides/1 study sheet), 2 test, tons of extra credit, and very interesting. You can tell she's a feminist since she is the first history professor I've had who gets deeper into how women fit in history. Really fun class.
Her syllabus was extremely detailed. She explains was is expected of you and the things you need to do in order to get a decent grade. All the work was reading and essays. One extra credit opportunity. She expects clear, specific, accurate work. Do not take if you are a bad writer. But I suggest her if you really want to challenge yourself.
She doesn't assign any tests. You have to write an essay for every 3 chapters you read, 500-1000 word. Mid-term was a 1500-2000 word essay and same for the final. Be ready to do a lot of reading and writing. Easy class if you're good at writing essays.
Six 500-1000 word essays, pretty easy, and a final and midterm paper. Dont take this class if you dont like writing papers.
If you're taking History for your GE degree, skip her class. If you're a History major and you can write perfect essays on the subject, she's the teacher for you.
Clear, specific expectations and directions. Very fair grader. Responded to an e-mail from me at 11:45 PM regarding the final exam prompt--that was a first for me:). Will be taking again for Hist 25 --highly recommend!
I took her class online and she is very essay heavy. You must read the book and she gives you only two days to type 1500-1700 word essays. don't take her if you are lazy or can not write well.
This class is very straight forward. Read 2-3 chapters and write an essay and commentary each week. Write a paper for the midterm and a paper for the final. Farrington grades hard and there is very little to no feedback. Very little communication with students.
I took her online class and it was very straightforward, one 500 word essay every two weeks, covering three chapters, plus responding to another classmate a week after that. The most frustrating thing was how little feedback she gives, you are really sending your essays into the void when you write them.
took her online history 25 class. overall pretty easy. there is a 500 word essay every week and you do a 200 word peer review. midterm and final are 1500 words. make sure you get the text book. no clear grading criteria and does not explain why you did good/bad. rude over email. SHE LOVES THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON
Professor Farrington seems to forget that she is a History professor and not an English professor. I got better grades on my essays from an Honor English professor than I did from her. If you are not an amazing writer I would not recommend this class. More worried about thesis statements than she is about historical content.
Straight forward course--just keep up with the work and you will do fine!
I would not recommend with this professor she is tough and you will regret taking her class, she is full of sacarstic which made me feel bad. She ain't teaching she just give you essay and the reading every week and t I didn't understand anything in her class and drop it after 3 weeks.
I took her this summer and I loved the class (and I dont even like history)! You dont have to memorize anything but you do have to write. The course is well-organized and easy to manage. I appreciated her feedback and her quick responses to my emails.
The online class is based on essays, every other week. Have to do a critique on a classmates module one week after your essay. Very simple, straightforward on assignments. Understanding to students daily life and very easy to communicate with, also responds quickly.
-Easy to get ahold of and forgiving and understanding with late work.
All class work turned out to be essays and reading. There was homework (500-1000 words)and a peer response (150-200 words) after due the day after the midterm this semester which was surprise, another essay. I didnt even pick a history course for next semester because shes the only in that teaches the one I need. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Probably the most painful class Ive ever taken. Expect to spend entire days reading the course material and writing long papers, only to be Complemented on how well you wrote but still get Cs and Ds on this week-long paper because your stance wasnt clear enough Farrington teaches history but thinks shes teaching english and grades HARSHLY
Clear criteria, excellent communication and detailed feedback.
I took the 5-week winter course and really enjoyed it. About 5 weekly discussion essays do and 2 essay exams. The textbook is really easy to understand and has all the information you need. She gives good feedback and was very accessible and caring! Great professor
I got feedback for every assignment I turned in. There are seven 500-1000 word discussion assignments, each of which needs a response to a classmate with 150-200 words. You are given three days to compose the midterm/final exam essay, and they need 1200-1700 words. Every assignment is due every other Saturday and requires quotes from the textbook.
I think professor Farrington was awesome, she told you exactly what she expected of you and exactly how she wanted work to be done.
She will let you know what she needs on the Midterm and final, but she give you vague prompts for the 7 modules. She is a slow grader and will tell you to use her criticism for your writing, but by the time you submitted it she barely finished grading the previous module. I have gotten As on writing, but with her only Cs/Bs harsh grader for sure.
Organized and provided feedback on all assignments. Promptly responded to my emails.
Farrington looks fair at first, like she's tolerable. Then the first essay rolls around, out of two mind you. She not only graded it badly after I wrote it as best I could, she NEVER gave any feedback whatsoever. And it only got worse throughout the course, the final essay being the hardest because of not knowing what she wants. Don't take HIst 11.
I don't understand why she's a teacher. She clearly can't teach a subject WITH clear guidelines, explanations, and help. She is extremely HARSH. I would avoid taking ANY of her classes AT ALL COSTS.
Pros: Farrington was extremely well-organized. Fast email responses. Quick turn around on grading. Detailed feedback. Challenging, but fair. No group work (a HUGE plus). Cons: A lot of writing (I was okay with that but some students won't be) and her video lectures could be longer. Overall, a great experience so I have taken her more than once.
I took HIST 11 over winter 2024 and she was lenient on the 5 discussion posts plus replies that were 15 pts each but when the Midterm and Final essay came around, she grades VERY tough and her feedback was pretty vague not including WHY the thesis statement wasn't clear enough, same with the final essay. Thats why I'm not taking her again.
Super harsh grader and heavy on writing. 1-2 essays per week and a lot of reading per chapter! Some students may enjoy, but most wouldn't. Feedback is also usually very vague and not helpful. Started to get worse as the weeks went by. Wouldn't take this class again.
I took Farrington's class during a summer term. I wish the assignments were more diverse as they were only essays. Her feedback is vague and can't be used for next essays as you can't see it until the next is due. She didn't do any teaching/lecture, just reading from the textbook. Prof. Farrington manged to turn a passionate subject into a chore.
Farrington was awesome! As a returning student, I was a bit intimidated at first, but, she really put me at ease. I learned so much in this class- I highly recommend her!
Honestly this was a pretty easy class to pass if you do your work and do more than the bare minimum. Its pretty much the same thing the entire semester. You read chapters from a textbook and then write an essay from the given prompts, then respond to a classmates response. Don't be discouraged with the amount of writing! the content is interesting.
All i have to say she's tough on grading for no reason.
Super friendly and easy to reach out to. I took her online class and everything was quite simple and self explanatory. The majority of the work is essays, 100% essays.
Horrible Class! I cannot believe how tough her grading is. Assigns so much reading and writing all to receive a low grade. This is a history class not an English. I do NOT recommend this class at all. Horrible feedback evreytime
taking this class is like asking to have a stroke.. worst class I have ever took. it's always “in need of elaboration” for grading. There is nothing else to explain when you already explained. This class makes my brain swell up
This is my second class with Farrington. I appreciated the streamlined organization- very easy to navigate the material. Quick responses to email and good feedback.
I took Women's History online as a GE class and found the professor a very tough grader. Weekly essays were required, and no matter how much effort I put in, I rarely got full credit. Feedback was positive yet points were still deducted. It caused me anxiety, made me overly critical of my work, and left me discouraged.
